niko pirosmani -- "little girl with a balloon" (ca. 1900s)
"a hat's not a hat till it's tilted" … sammy cahn
“new wisdom pierced his wond’ring brain; he saw the world with different eyes, he saw it smile, he heard it speak, he knew the meaning of its sighs. all things that breathed or lived had tongue, held converse soft in language strange" … vazha pshavela (pirosmani's favorite poet)
"darkness at the break of noon shadows even the silver spoon the handmade blade, the child's balloon eclipses both the sun and moon to understand you know too soon there is no sense in trying" … bob dylan
"a balloon's not a balloon if it's quilted" … al janik

Soo... There is project that is making a manga of Vazha-Pshavela’s “Host and Guest” and it’ll be both in Georgian and Japanese!
A gore-y picture under the cut.
Well, I like the art style, it fits the story.
#TAKE MY MONEY AND GIVE ME THIS MANGA#Aghaza my beloved :>#Yes. Those screenshots have a very poor quality. I can't do anything about it.

Asking for book/poem/verses suggestions!
Hello my darlings! I hate how the dark academia is full of american and english classics (and occasionally russian) but there are not enough talk about classics from other countries (or this is just my experience so far). So if you see this post please comment what classics from your country (or one that you like) should everyone read and know. Also would be glad if you just mention a poet or a writer whose works I should definitely check out!
Thank you everyone!!❤️❤️
I'll list some classics from my country🇬🇪 I think everyone should read:
1. Three poems by Vazha Pshavela - Host and Guest, Aluda Ketelauri, The snake-eater
2. Antonio and David by Jemal Karchkhadze
3. The knight in the panther's skin by Shota Rustaveli (this one is a bit big but still important)
4. Zebulon by Jemal Karchkhadze
5. Literally any work by Ilia Chavchavadze
6. Also literally any work by Galaktion Tabidze (poet)
7. Merani (verse) by Nikoloz Baratashvili

Thoughts on my favourite Georgian food, khachapuri? (Don't know how it's spelled in latin letters :'D) Thoughts on modern opera? Thoughts on your favourite poem? :D
Khachapuri is acceptable as long as my mom makes it :D
I’m not very familiar with modern opera - I’ve only heard Adès’ The Tempest and I enjoyed it!
My favourite poem (if we’re talking long poems) is prooobably Vazha-Pshavela’s Host and Guest (Stumar-Maspindzeli) and I feel like there’s no use reading it in other languages because no translation does it justice, really. Yeah the story is absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking but its main appeal is the language methinks
