❛ ---dimitri, hello. ❜ auburn had  waited  for him, perched on a fire escape and staring down at the bustling crowd below her. once he had come into her line of sight, she had descended a little, though she still  PREFERRED  to stay out of his  immediate  reach --- just in case he did not recognise her instantly since she was  TECHNICALLY TRESPASSING  on his lands. ❛ i gotta say, i love the coat. it looks positively  spooky. ❜

for someone as old as auburn was, change had been the only thing she had ever been able to truly count on. the seasons would always change, mortals would come and go, taking part in a cycle she was exempt from. most of her life could be described in recurring patters --- times spent in company of those she loved were followed by years on her own. however, valeria was a recurring pattern, but she was not one auburn was particularly fond of. she was, and this was an important distinction for auburn, not even a pattern that was directly connected to her. valeria was a side effect, an unpleasant one, to auburn's many years of friendship with dimitri.

“ i don't see thirty pieces of silver, ” the redhead said as she stretched lazily, sitting up a little straighter. if valeria thought that auburn would sell out dimitri, she would have to think again --- while she would not be able to make her believe that she had truly no idea where he was, she could withhold the information for as long as she pleased. knowledge was power ... and right now, the odds were in auburn's favour as she had what valeria wanted while there was nothing the witch could offer her in return, no spell, no piece of information the vampire would deem equal in value.

“ ------and even if you just got back your memories, i'm certain you'll remember that i  never  sold anyone out to you. much less  dimitri. ”

occupation.  forensic scientist age.  2200+ years old apparent age / age she was turned at.  25 current territory.  none, really, but it's not like she needs hunting grounds. she does baffle her brethren because they cannot explain why she does not seem to need to trespass on their lands to feed outstanding skill.  strength --- and by extension, battle experience

past.  born somewhere in the roman empire a long time ago, auburn lived a rather average life until she was bitten by a vampire at the age of 25. the vampire had intended to kill her, but she put up a fight that was bound to alert others to their location and, thinking to have mortally wounded her, the vampire left her, bleeding out in a dark alleyway.

but, more stubborn than anything else, auburn survived this and was reborn stronger, better. it took her years to make peace with what she had become but once she had come to terms with it, she became a force of nature. stronger than many other vampires and smart enough to avoid those stronger than her, auburn made a name for herself very fast. and while those equal to her in strength annihilated each other  ( and sometimes helping things to go according to her bigger plan ),  she stepped into the ensuing power vacuum --- and defended her position for centuries to come. at her prime, entire european countries were her territory ------ and most knew better than to challenge her claims, especially whenever she was close to her partner in  platonic spookiness, another powerful vampire.

but the older she got, the more bored she grew with her own power and her territories shrunk down to mere fragments of what they once were --- mostly because the population of potential prey had grown over the years and it had grown increasingly easier to occasionally have someone disappear when a hunt went sideways.

of course, working as a forensic scientist is just the latest bit of evidence that proves that the reason why auburn hayden is feared is her mind rather than her raw strength. the reason why she can easily exist in other vampires' territories without stealing their potential prey? well, she has free access to it in the morgue.
