Unrivaled
Pairing: Paige Bueckers x Reader
Word count: 1212
Summary: Paige is on set for an Unrivalled ad shoot where she’s answering calls for the company’s merch department(inspired by that one Unrivaled ad)
Isak Speaks: I honestly have no idea how I came up with this but I hope someone out there likes it lol.
My Masterlist :)
...............................................................
The Unrivaled ad shoot was well underway, and Paige was in her element. She was used to the camera lights and the constant flow of new challenges, but today felt different. There was a playful air to the set, and the whole team was buzzing with energy. Paige, always professional but with a healthy dose of humour, knew this was going to be one of those shoots she’d remember.
The concept was simple: she’d be answering calls as if she worked in the Unrivalled merch department, giving potential customers all the information they could possibly need. But there was one twist: the team had arranged for one of the calls to be from you, her girlfriend, and unbeknownst to her, you had been looped in on a prank that the production crew had cooked up.
“Alright, Paige,” the director said, his voice cutting through the low hum of the set. “This next segment is all about the phone calls. You’re going to be answering different questions, sticking to the script, but you can really play with it. Just have fun with it, okay?”
“Cheeky, light, and fun. Got it,” Paige replied with a wink.
She grabbed the house phone, adjusting the small mic attached to her gray hoodie and checking herself in the mirror before stepping in front of the camera and sitting one the cream couch. The lights flickered on, and the crew was ready to go. Paige was a natural—her smile was bright, her posture perfect, and her charm on full display. She looked every bit the star.
“Okay, here we go. First call in 3... 2... 1…” The director’s voice faded as the first phone rang.
Paige answered the first call by holding the phone to her ear, adopting the professional tone of a customer service representative. “Hello, Paige here, with Unrivaled merch department. How can I help you?”
The first call was a quick one, with the person on the other end asking about the fit of a hoodie. Paige smoothly replied, “Yeah, don’t worry. If it fits me, it’ll fit you,” flashing a smile for the camera, causing the crew to laugh.
They ran through a few more takes, each one bringing out a bit more of Paige’s playful side as she joked and riffed on the script.
“You’re either in, or you’re out. No pressure,” she said, speaking into the phone as she struck a dramatic pose.
“If you tell people the future is unrivaled, I’ll give you half off,” she added, winking at the camera as though she were letting the audience in on a secret.
The crew applauded at the end of each take, clearly impressed by how effortlessly Paige owned the role. But as they moved to the next part of the shoot, she had no idea what was coming next.
It was time for your call.
Backstage, you were practically vibrating with excitement. The crew had kept everything under wraps, and now it was your turn to play your part. You knew Paige would never expect it—she thought she was just doing another typical day of shooting, and now you were about to throw her for a loop.
The phone rang in Paige’s hands. She picked it up and smiled, ready for the next caller. She was already in character, and it would be easy for her to slip into another round of humorous responses.
“Hello, Paige here, with Unrivaled merch department. How can I help you?” she said, sounding chipper and completely professional.
You, trying to hold back your laughter, greeted her in your sweetest voice. “Hi, Paige.”
There was a pause on the other end of the line. Paige’s eyes narrowed slightly as she recognized your voice. “Babe?” she said softly, the suspicion creeping in. Then, realizing she was on camera, she quickly adjusted. “Uh, I mean… How can I help you?”
You couldn’t hold back your grin any longer. “So, I don’t really have a merch question,” you started casually, savoring the moment. “I was wondering... can I play you one-on-one?”
Paige’s face froze. Her eyes widened in disbelief as her mouth parted slightly. She didn’t expect this—not at all. The question hung in the air for a beat, and she blinked as if trying to process what she just heard.
You could practically hear her thoughts racing, and then, with an exaggerated sigh from her lips, she gave in. “Can you play me one-on-one?” she repeated, making sure to sound as deadpan as possible before she rolled her eyes at your request. “All right.” She looked into the camera and shook her head in mock exasperation. “They just can’t let it go.”
The crew was losing it in the background, and you could hear the laughter starting to bleed through into the audio as they realized what was happening. Paige, trying to keep it together, leaned into the phone with a slight smirk creeping onto her face. “You just had to make it about basketball, huh?”
With an exaggerated sigh, she looked straight into the camera. “Ok. Ok.” She played it up, giving the camera a knowing look that suggested she’d just been ambushed in the most Paige-like way possible.
The whole scene felt like a hilarious sitcom moment, with the cameras capturing every ounce of Paige’s fake annoyance and your playful glee. You could hear the production team beginning to play with the audio, stacking the overlapping calls on top of each other in post-production. Paige, still answering the fake calls with her usual charm, did her best to finish out the script, but she couldn’t quite hide her amusement.
“Yes, yes. I am unrivaled,” she said, dramatically leaning into the mic with a smirk on her face, clearly in on the joke now.
The director yelled “cut!” and the crew erupted into applause. Paige stood up from her seat and immediately turned to the side, searching the room for the culprit.
You stood behind the set, trying to hide your grin. But it was no use. Paige’s eyes locked onto yours, and the playful look in her eyes was unmistakable.
“You’re so dead,” she said, shaking her head in mock anger. “What was that, huh? One-on-one? Really?”
You couldn’t help but laugh as she approached, her arms crossed over her chest. “You should’ve seen your face when I asked. You looked like you were about to quit the shoot.”
“I should’ve,” Paige muttered under her breath, but her lips twitched as she tried to suppress a smile. “I’m going to get you back for this.”
“Oh, I’m sure you will,” you teased, stepping closer to her. You leaned in and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “But it was worth it, right?”
Paige rolled her eyes but wrapped an arm around you, pulling you into a side hug. “I’ll admit, it was funny. But next time, you’re doing the shoot.”
“Deal,” you grinned, savoring the rare moment of being able to catch Paige off guard.
The crew was still laughing, and as they started packing up the set, Paige looked over at you with a knowing smile. “Next time, babe, I’m bringing my A-game. Just wait.”
“Oh, I’m looking forward to it,” you said, leaning into her side as she led you away from the set.
