Oath of the Stars (a DND 5e Homebrew inspired by @comicaurora)
Tumblr media
Tenets of the Stars
A paladin who assumes the Oath of the Stars swears to put their life on the line for the sake of other mortals.
Respect. Life is sacred, and should never be casually taken, nor neglectfully sacrificed.
Responsibility. Excuses, no matter how convincing, do nothing to soften the harm done. One must accept their shortcomings and promise to do better.
Humility. Evil is not unknowable, evil is not alien. Even the greatest paragons can fall from grace if they stop trying to do better.
Channel Divinity
When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options:
Fire Within. As an action, you can light one weapon that you are holding on fire using the burning energy of the stars, using your Channel Divinity. For 1 minute, you deal an additional 1d6 fire damage with every attack made with that weapon (with a minimum bonus of +1). The weapon also emits bright light in a 20-foot radius and dim light 20 feet beyond that. If the weapon is not already magical, it becomes magical for the duration.
You can end this effect on your turn as part of any other action. If you are no longer holding or carrying this weapon, or if you fall unconscious, this effect ends.
Blinding Star. As an action, you invoke the radiance of the stars, using your Channel Divinity to radiate pure bright light. Each creature that can see you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom saving throw. Creatures immune to the blinded condition, with blindsight, or who are already blind automatically succeed on this saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is blinded for 1 minute. A blinded creature can make another Constitution saving throw at the end of its turn.
Oath Spells
You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed:
3rd level: guiding bolt, searing smite
5th: flame blade, pyrotechnics
9th: blinding smite, flame arrows
13th: fire shield, wall of fire
17th: legend lore, wall of light
These spells all count as paladin spells for you. You always have them prepared, but they don't count towards your number of prepared paladin spells.
Aura of Guidance
Starting at 7th level, friendly creatures within 10 feet of you have advantage on attacks against a creature that dealt damage to you since your last turn.
At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.
Guardian Angel
Beginning at 15th level, when an ally accessible within 30 feet is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to move up to them and take the attack instead. The attacker must roll again against your armor class and use the highest roll.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses after a short or long rest.
Radiant Champion
At 20th level, as an action, you can emanate an aura of starfire. For 1 minute, you gain the following benefits:
Your speed is doubled, and you can jump as far as your speed allows during a turn.
As an action, you can fire a brilliant burst of starfire. Every creature within a 20 ft. cone has to make a Dexterity saving throw against your spell DC or take 12d8 fire damage. A creature who succeeds their Dexterity saving throw takes half damage instead.
A creature takes fire damage equal to your Charisma modifier when they touch you or hit you with a weapon attack the first time on their turn
Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a long rest.
(Shoutout to Queen of Bubble City of the fan Discord for suggesting Legend Lore and getting me rid of that stupid Holy Weapon spell that I hate so much. Also keep posted for more DND 5e homebrew for Aurora, because I'm definitely not gonna stop at one subclass per main character)

[WESKER'S REPORT II / G-VIRUS]
G-VIRUS
1995.7.31 (Mon)
(Seven years after previous record)
It was summer again and seventeen years had passed since that day I first visited that place. Whenever I came back there, I remembered the smell of the wind that day. Both the building and surrounding scenery hadn't changed since then. Above the heliport I could also see Birkin, who had arrived earlier. It had already been a long time since we last met. Four years had now passed since I left the Arklay Laboratory.
When the G-Virus Project formulated by Birkin was approved four years ago, I requested a transfer to the intelligence division and was readily accepted. Giving up on my career in the role of a researcher and seeking a turning point must've looked like a natural course of events from anyone's perspective. The fact is, the concept of "G" was beyond a level I could keep up with. Even if I had no aim to investigate Spencer's true intentions, I was sure I'd reached the limit of my capabilities as a researcher by that stage.
As the wind of the helicopter whirled overhead, Birkin never took his eyes off the papers in his hand, as usual. Although he seemed to be a regular visitor to Arklay, he no longer belonged there either. Some time ago, he transferred to a huge underground research facility in Raccoon City. That place served as the base for him developing the "G-Virus." But to be quite honest, four years prior, I never imagined Spencer would approve G. It consisted of a concept so unknown it deviated from the general idea of a weapon.
The reason G is distinguished from the previous t-Virus is that an infected organism continues to mutate spontaneously and independently. Viruses are prone to mutations due to the fact their genes are exposed. But that's only true of a virus itself, not for the genes of living organisms. It's very rare for in-vivo genes to mutate even if they're structurally altered by a virus.
External factors such as exposure to radiation are another story. An organism infected by G requires no such external factors at all however, it will continuously mutate until it dies. A similar characteristic exists to a lesser extent within the t-Virus. It had already been confirmed that placing a Bio Organic Weapon in a special environment would cause structural genetic changes due to activation of the virus within the body. For that to happen though, it strictly requires a trigger due to an external factor, putting re-mutations within a predictable range to a certain extent.
However, there was no such rule for a "G Organism." No one can predict where their changes will lead, and no matter what countermeasures are devised to destroy it, it would continue to mutate and invalidate them.
Birkin discovered a glimpse of this effect seven years ago in the female test subject. Used for each and every experiment, she apparently hadn't developed any changes in appearance, but deep down she was constantly changing and survived, coexisting in fusion with all sorts of experimental viruses. Then her internal mutations, lasting twenty one years, had changed her enough to even absorb the "Nemesis Parasite."
The G-Virus Project was going to push this characteristic to the extreme. What lies ahead however may be evolution toward a "supreme organism", or a destructive demise...Could it be called a weapon?
What was Spencer thinking when he approved this project?
Although four years had passed since I transferred to the intelligence division, I was still unable to grasp Spencer's true goal. And now Spencer has even stopped showing up in Arklay. As if he anticipates something happening here soon...Spencer's visage drifts away from me like a mirage floating in a desert. But an opportunity should present itself someday. If I can survive until then, that is.
The elevator picked up Birkin and I and descended to the lab's highest level.
We returned to the place we first met her. Birkin's successor was waiting there, the new chief researcher "John." This man was supposedly an excellent scientist who had come from the Chicago Laboratory, but he appeared too sane a person to work at this lab. He questioned the barbarity of the research here and submitted his opinion to the top brass to have it corrected. There was talk of him even in the intelligence division I was in. Everyone's opinion was "If any information's going to leak out, it'll come from this guy." We just ignored John and commenced her final disposal.
We were to kill her. Although she had absorbed Nemesis and regained a modicum of intelligence, it merely resulted in bizarre behavior. Her actions gradually escalated until she began tearing the faces off other women and wearing them. According to the records, it seems she exhibited a similar behavior at the time she was first injected with the Progenitor Virus. We had no idea what she was thinking or why she was doing it, but her disposal was decided on after three researchers recently fell victim to her.
Now that G research was on track, she no longer held any practical value as a test subject. After repeatedly verifying her lack of vital signs over the course of three days, her body was brought somewhere at the director's order. In the end, I still have no clue who she was or why she was brought here. Of course, the same is true for the other test subjects. But the "G-Project" may not have existed if not for her. In that event, the lives of myself and Birkin would probably be different now. I thought about that as I left the Arklay Laboratory.
I do wonder, to what extents do Spencer's calculations go?
(Three years later, the "incident" begins)

DP2 - Wandering Earth
Week 19:
This week I kept focusing on the workshop by first improving on the plan and then choosing three zones from the plan and designed the roof, facade and structural systems specifically to the environmental conditions required by each zone:
The south facing facade receives the highest level of solar radiation and activities including cutting and drilling take place in this zone, which can lead to overheating in the space, especially at summer. Therefore a layered strategy is implemented on the facade with dense and wide rain-fuel/solar panels acting also as shading devices which can result in effective cooling off the space.
The East Facing Facade provides excellent natural light in the morning and has a good view down the hill towards the city, therefore there are voids on the facades to provide opportunities for a balcony area. The facade panels are more curled up to further provide natural lighting and views as there are workbenches behind the east facade.
The North Facade in 2050 will encounter more severed environmental conditions as it receives poor natural light and is normally cold and damp. Therefore the facade panels are less dense to allow more light entering the space and more gaps on the roof to provide lighting. Deicing systems inspired by the aviation industry extends out from the roof to clean the icing that may form on the facade.
The Roof has different levels and grooves to direct the rainwater to drip down onto the facade elements and utilises its potential energy to regenerate energy; but also recycled into the bathroom to be reused. The roof has a curved shape that rises at certain points for lighting purposes.
I should keep working on these three design modules and use line drawings in combination with these renders to reveal the HVAC, structural and water systems of the space. Doing lighting and heating simulations on the interior space to prove the systems function properly
Key ideas mentioned:
Hollow tiles for heating and ventilation systems running through
shape the tiles so it guides the cool down streaming air around the furniture in the room
Pneumatically designed air exhaustion systems for manufacturing area (Reference to Zaha Science Museum)
Shelving systems on the facade to hang and dry the pieces manufactured in the workshop
Light pipes bringing light to the working area that is integrated with the furniture
furniture suspended from the ground with localized heating, water running through the furniture
Ramps connecting the buildings that extend out into the forest and foreshadowing the theme and emotions that the next building is going to bring to the visitors. Buildings get cut through similarly to canyons.
When presenting, show how spatial organization, facade systems and furniture systems are designed differently according to the hot and cold environment and lux levels.

I have come on anon to start asking you questions about your nuclear dragons story and the world building surrounding that.
:D Thank you anon!
It's dangerous to travel on the forfeits without a magician to speak with its magic, and the Bowery clan of dragon slayers has just lost their magician. Tamarel, half-trained and nowhere near ready is thrust into the position of magician and made to guide them across the Splintered Forfeit.
Tamarel knows something wasn't right about how the magician was sent off because there had not been a storm the night before. She starts asking questions, but no one answers them. As soon as they make it across the forfeit, Tamarel bolts. She knows that a mercenary lives nearby. She plans to ask them to help her.
But as fate would have it, this mercenary used to be a dragon slayer and wants nothing to do with the Bowery clan and their ships that belch toxic smoke and herald death. Icarion is done with that and would much rather build and heal than entertain the idea of dragon slaying again.
Tamarel spends days trying to get Icarion to even glance in her direction and is practically begging them to help. It doesn't work. Not until the Bowery clan's fleet leaves the port and Tamarel behind. There are other magicians they can use. But none with as strong of a connection to the magic of the forfeits because Tamarel is the sole survivor of a reckless dragon slayer's battle that destroyed her city and slew a dragon that had not been categorized as dangerous by the dragon slayer's council.
The explosion of magic that comes with a dragon's death often creates such high levels of magical radiation that it kills whoever it comes in contact with and leaves the surrounding area as a deadzone that mutates the land until it becomes a pool of magic waiting to reform as a new dragon that is called a 'forfeit'. When a dragon slayer kills a dragon, it is only as a last resort after desperate attempts to negotiate or drive off a dragon that has proven itself to be a threat, and even then, there are month's worth of preparation that go into it. They evacuate the towns and worlds between forfeits and they have armor they've built to hold against this radiation. It protects them enough to prevent death, but it's not enough to stop some of this dragon's magic from latching onto them and starting the corruption of their soul.
Most dragon corruption is slow, and it takes at least three dragons before a dragon slayer starts showing signs of this corruption. Usually by then they'll retire from dragon slaying and rip out the physical manifestations of this corruption. They'll take on the mantle of magician with their soul bound connection with the magic of the forfeits to guide other dragon slayers to their destinations or take young travelers across to a new home. Those who do not are considered selfish. A magician is more likely to die in a storm than by old age or a dragon slayer's hand, as out on the forfeits, magical storms are common and hungry. This magical entity is the breath of a dragon that will claim whoever has the highest magical bond as part of the required material to rebuild itself, which often leads to magicians leaping into the forfeit to distract the storm from the vessel they are guiding across. Those who do not often turn to dragonhood and the dragon slayer's council keeps close tabs on them.
Icarion realizes that Tamarel isn't asking them to slay a dragon (they slew seven, a high number for a dragon slayer to have retained their humanity), but rather find one, as Tamarel explains that she suspects the magician before her may have turned to dragonhood, and she wants to find a way to turn him back before it's too late.
I have more that I want to say, but this is already getting long so I think I'll leave you with that.

The city of Arequipa, in Peru, has an extremely serious problem due to the decrease in the ozone layer and other geographical factors. Arequipa is one of the cities with the highest radiation levels in the world – a problem that is affecting thousands of citizens, and of which many are not aware. For this reason, Cerveza Arequipeña, part of Backus, together with the NGO Por Un Perú sin Cáncer, have joined forces to face this problem and raise awareness about sun care.
They started from a finding: Arequipeña bottles have high UV-400 protection, which protects the beer from UV rays, so why not use them to protect the most important thing in Arequipa, its people? Under this premise, they took advantage of the cylindrical shape of the bottles to cut them, join them consecutively and create Arequipeña bottle tiles.
The tiles were located in different parts of Arequipa, causing many positive reactions and, most importantly, generating conversation about the problem and prevention of the effects of radiation on the body, and thanks to a QR code, people were able to receive protection tips and even schedule a preventive skin cancer screening near their location, thanks to an alliance with the NGO Por Un Perú sin Cáncer.
“Arequipeña Beer was proudly born in the white city back in 1898, and the most important thing for us has always been, and will always be, our people. For this reason, we feel it relevant to contribute to the awareness of this serious problem, and this time we’re doing it by using our own bottles, which due to their characteristics, have the protection that Arequipeños need to have in their daily activities to protect themselves from solar radiation,” said Diego Devoto, Director of Cerveza Arequipeña.

Orphan Sources
Humans are prone to misplace things. From car keys to a missing sock, lost objects are a part of our everyday lives. But what if the object was dangerous?
In the beginning of 2023, headlines were made about how Australia lost a radioactive capsule. Lost radioactive material, known as orphan sources, are, surprisingly, not uncommon. BBC reporter Antoinette Radford writes in an article “Of the nearly 4,000 radioactive sources that have gone missing since the International Atomic Energy Agency started tracking them in 1993, 8% are believed to have been taken for malicious reasons, and 65% were lost accidentally. It is unclear what happened to the rest.”
Radioactive and nuclear materials are not inherently dangerous. When handled with respect, the materials can power countries, advance scientific discoveries, and help stop cancer. But when accountability for such an important, and dangerous, material is not held with the highest degree of care, preventable accidents are bound to occur.
While the Australian orphan source was found and properly handled without any known exposure over background level, this has not always been the case. In Goiânia Brazil, 1987, after a hospital closed, their radiotherapy unit was abandoned. Scrap metal dealing is a way to make money in Goiânia, so when two men came across the unit, they began to pick it apart. They found the source, but had no idea of the dangers it held. The cesium-137, a radioisotope, passed from person to person, everyone fascinated with how the powdered substance glimmered and glowed. But soon, the people who had been near the powder began falling ill. Doctors kept putting it off as a tropical disease. It took a while for the authorities to realize what was happening, but by then the contamination had spread across the city. 28 were hospitalized with radiation burns, and four passed away. The youngest victim was six years old.
Both lifesaving and life ending, radioactive sources must be monitored with the highest degree of care. Efforts to eliminate any potential civilian contact is key if radioactive materials are to continue to be used.
It is unknown how many orphan sources are currently lost throughout the globe.

In the spring of 1986, in their rush to flee the radioactive plume and booming fire that burned after the Chernobyl power plant exploded, many people left behind their dogs. Most of those former pets died as radiation ripped through the region and emergency workers culled the animals they feared would ferry toxic atoms about. Some, though, survived. Those dogs trekked into the camps of liquidators to beg for scraps; they nosed into empty buildings and found safe places to sleep. In the 1,600-square-mile exclusion zone around the power plant, they encountered each other, and began to reproduce. “Dogs were there immediately after the disaster,” says Gabriella Spatola, a geneticist at the National Institutes of Health and the University of South Carolina. And they have been there ever since.
Spatola and her colleagues are now puzzling through the genomes of those survivors’ modern descendants. In identifying the genetic scars that today’s animals may have inherited, the researchers hope to understand how, and how well, Chernobyl’s canine populations have thrived. The findings could both reveal the lasting tolls of radiation and hint at traits that have helped certain dogs avoid the disaster’s worst health effects. The fates of dogs—bred and adapted to work, play, and lounge at our side—are tied to ours. And the canines we leave behind when crises strike could show us what it takes to survive the fallout of our gravest mistakes.
One of the key canine groups the team is focusing on is based at what’s left of the power plant itself, and has likely weathered the highest levels of radiation of any dog population in the exclusion zone. The researchers are working to compare the genomes of those dogs with those of others living farther out, in Chernobyl City, a quasi-residential region about nine miles away that was evacuated after the blast, and in Slavutych, a less contaminated city roughly 30 miles out, where many power-plant workers settled after leaving their post.
The spatial differences are essential to the study’s success. The region’s landscape is “a patchwork of different radioactivity levels,” says Timothy Mousseau, a biologist at the University of South Carolina who’s been studying Chernobyl’s wildlife for more than 20 years, and is co-advising Spatola’s work. Which means that geographically distinct packs of dogs could, in theory, have distinct exposure histories, and distinct genetic legacies to show for it. The team’s work is just beginning. But in the hundreds of blood samples that Spatola and her colleagues have analyzed from dogs in all three groups, they’ve already found evidence that the reactor-adjacent canines are different in at least some ways.
The animals that the team sampled in Chernobyl City and Slavutych, the researchers found, look a lot like dogs you’d find elsewhere. They’ve been born of mixtures of modern breeds: mastiffs, pinschers, schnauzers, boxers, terriers. But the power-plant population seems more stuck in the past. The dogs there are far more inbred, and still skew heavily German shepherd—a breed that has a long history in the region, a hint that the animals have largely kept to their ancestral roots, says Elaine Ostrander, a geneticist at the National Institutes of Health and another of Spatola’s co-advisers. This pack might represent something like “a time capsule” from the disaster’s worst days, says Elinor Karlsson, a genomics expert at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Perhaps this lineage of dogs has been stewing in the plant’s radiation for a dozen generations or more. Some may even have inherited mutations caused by the explosion itself.
The long-ranging consequences of their exposures, though, aren’t yet clear. Repeated, heavy doses of radiation—which can mutate DNA, seed cancers, and irreparably damage the structural integrity of cells—can be, without question, “extremely detrimental to life,” says Isain Zapata, a biomedical researcher at Rocky Vista University. And over the decades, a wealth of studies has revealed serious health effects among some local animals: Birds have been found with tumors and unusually small brains; bank voles have battled cataracts and produced wonky, underperforming sperm. Even bees seem to struggle to reproduce. Still, not all creatures are equally susceptible to radiation; many have also avoided the region’s most saturated zones. And in some parts of the exclusion zone, some of them appear to be flourishing on terrain now largely devoid of humans and their polluting, disruptive ways. In this landscape of possibilities, it’s hard to say where the dogs of Chernobyl might fall: Domestic canines depend heavily on us, and may suffer more than other animals when we leave. But that dependence also means that dogs are also less likely to chow down on wild, radiation-contaminated food, and may be well positioned to take advantage of the ruins we leave behind—and to mooch more when we start to creep back.
What the team finds next will be telling. Scientists have already spent decades scrutinizing canine genomes; a reference book for what’s “typical” already exists, which makes detecting “when something’s unusual” much easier, Karlsson told me. The researchers might uncover mutations and sickness in the power-plant pack—a sign that the dogs’ genomes have been walloped by years of radiation, as those of some other animals apparently have. But Karlsson also thinks the team could find the opposite: hints of genetic traits that have kept the dogs alive under harsh conditions, such as a higher resistance to cancer. That, in turn, could bode well for us. Canine and human genomes are quite similar, and “domestic dogs have been a model for human cancer for a very long time,” says Shane Campbell-Staton, an evolutionary biologist at Princeton who studies Chernobyl’s wolves. Perhaps these dogs did not bend under pressure, but instead thrived.
One of the trickiest parts of the project will be figuring out which differences among the studied dog groups are attributable to radiation, rather than the ways in which the Chernobyl disaster completely remodeled the region and its ecosystems. Populations of plants, insects, birds, and mammals ebbed and flowed, affecting the availability of resources and the presence of predators. Humans came and left, sometimes bringing food, medical care, or more dogs. Generations of animals replaced each other, and populations mingled and mixed. Olena Burdo, a radioecologist at the Kiev Institute for Nuclear Research, has worked for years to try to parse these many variables in her work with bank voles. In the wild, it’s usually easy to tell that differences between populations exist, she told me. It’s just not always possible to pinpoint why.
Without perfect record-keeping of individual canines, the team can’t prove that the modern dogs they’re sampling are directly descended from 1980s dogs, either. Burdo told me she suspects that at least some of the power-plant dogs may be more transient than the researchers think. If the three dog populations under study are loose, amorphous, and constantly turning over, the researchers will have a tough time determining the effects of higher- or lower-dose radiation exposure through generations. The power-plant dogs—the purported high-radiation cohort—may not really be a lineage born of the facility’s buildings after all.
But Ostrander is fairly convinced that the power-plant population has largely kept to itself. Life among the abandoned buildings is actually quite plush. Workers toss the dogs leftovers; tourists cheerfully sneak them snacks. And in recent years, veterinarians have banded together to provide the dogs medical care, vaccinations, and spay-and-neuter services. Beyond that, the canines may not need much. The pack seems to have grown more aloof and self-sufficient over the years, Spatola told me, and may even be behaviorally reverting to some of its wilder, wolfish roots. Left to fend for themselves when the reactor blew, this population of dogs—which started out as pets—has been transformed, perhaps by radiation, perhaps by human fallibility, into something less familiar, more strange, and entirely its own.

4200 AD: High-tech no-FTL space opera
Instead of working on my ongoing book project, my brain decided to come up with an entirely new setting.
United Inner Planets
Alliance of Earth, Mars, Venus, and Mercury.
Most of population lives on space colonies, cylinders and rings.  Earth is kept as a nature preserve.  Mars Terraformed, aerostat colonies on Venus.
Highest population and agricultural output, but widespread poverty.
Population with the highest average gravity endurance, but lowest radiation resistance.
Navy uses large numbers of sturdy and reliable ships.  Best deflector shield/force field tech.
Warships armed with forward-fixed railguns, x-ray laser turrets, pure fusion missiles.
“Lifting body”-shaped ships.
Tumblr media
Jupiter Empire
Controls all of the Jovian moons, capitol in underwater city on Europa.
Moderately populous, but highest overall tech level.  Mastery of artificial gravity.
Expansionist, several moons run as apartheid states by the Europan aristocracy.
Ambitions to control the entire solar system.
Population has moderate gravity endurance, but the highest radiation resistance.
Navy relatively small, but each unit is much more expensive than its Inner Planets counterpart.
Warships armed with forward-fixed grav cannons, neutron beam turrets, antimatter torpedoes.
“Submarine”-shaped ships
Tumblr media
Saturn Alliance
Plurality of independent lunar and planetary polities with an alliance of convenience against the stronger powers.
Titan Republic
Democratic republic.  Domed cities and a space elevator ring for solar power.  Atmosphere left unbreathable, Titan too cold to terraform.  Industrial center for the Saturn System.  Democratic republic, bordering on direct democracy.  Often deadlocked by debates about policy, very deliberate in action.
Rhea Federation
Multitude of corporate-run colonies that eventually formed a united government.  Economy mostly dominated by the service industry, though they used to be a hub of agriculture and high technology development.  One party state ruled by the Shareholders, an oligarchy of wealthy family dynasties.
Kingdom of Hyperion
Considered something of a joke by the other nations, the descendants of a wealthy personality cult that founded their own colony as far away from Earth as they could reach, with the cult’s prophet founding a monarchy.  Incredibly decadent architecture and fashion, ostentatious titles for minor officials, bulk of population highly-religious serfs.  Heavily militarized to combat peasant uprisings, dedicated warrior elite who spend all their time training, but no real threat to anyone abroad.  Most weaponry small arms for riot control.
Iapetus Technocracy
Anarchist worker-owned mining communes that have a centralized assembly that meets regularly in order to set guidelines and negotiate with other nations.  No military to speak of, though many of the population are armed.
Enceladus Confederation
Colony founded by sapient sealife from Earth under the ice.  Relatively secretive, details of government and social life unknown.  Have a massive orbital shipyard, produces many large civilian spacecraft and exports military vessels to other minor factions.  Mostly armed with older-model weapons purchased from the UIP or Belt.
“Shark”-shaped ships.
Saturn Aerostat Coalition
Flying cities that export fusion fuel.  Similar non-independent ones on Jupiter controlled by the Empire.  Each governed very strictly, police state with widespread paranoia, deriving from the early colony days when the slightest disorder risked total destruction of the fragile settlement.  Dictator appoints their successor before retiring.  Few long-lasting dynasties, but nepotism is rampant.
Tumblr media
Belt Bugs
Genetically-engineered giant insects created by humanity to mine the Asteroid Belt.  Can survive in space for limited periods, use semi-organic technology
Declared independence 500 years ago, but still somewhat resent humans for enslaving them.  Despite vast mineral resources, have little ability to grow their own food, still developing agricultural infrastructure, and so are still economically dependent on the larger powers.  Most individuals are hermaphroditic, able to reproduce sexually or asexually, and have a multitude of eyes and legs.  Incredibly durable bodies, able to survive small arms fire, but most have a hard time adjusting to the gravity on a planet, though it won’t kill them.  Rumored to be a second population in the Kuiper Belt, Oort Cloud, but few humans ever venture out that far.  No formal navy or central government, but there are militias that defend their home colonies.  Best armor tech of any faction, but weakest weapons and shields.  Warships armed with forward-fixed proton beams, gauss cannon turrets, plasma torpedoes.
Ships look like bigger bugs.
Tumblr media
The Invaders
Extraterrestrial beings that begin attacking outlying colonies, conquering Neptune and Uranus before moving inward.  Forces a truce between the adversaries in the Sol System, though some consider making an accommodation in secret. Appear at first to be completely mechanical, but on closer inspection contain human brains.  Mystery whether they were extrasolar colonists who are back to conquer their old homeland, or an alien species using transhumans as shock troops.  Warships armed with homing lasers, antimatter autocannons, black hole torpedoes.
“Skyscraper”-shaped ships.

If you don't take care of yourself, you look very old. Skincare will always be the same
Our skin has to endure wind and sun exposure every day, especially on the exposed face, which can easily lead to skin problems such as yellowing, acne, spots, wrinkles, etc. In fact, these skin problems are not only related to our lifestyle habits, but also largely influenced by the surrounding environment. If you are more careful, you will find that people living in big cities encounter more skin problems than those living in rural areas. People in urban areas encounter more skin problems such as sensitive skin, acne, and red blood streaks, while those living in rural areas experience the most skin problems such as darkening and yellowing of skin tone, or the growth of dry lines, fine lines, etc., all of which are caused by ultraviolet radiation. The air pollution index in cities is higher, and dust and car exhaust emissions, as well as haze weather, affect people's skin quality. And our skin cannot be wrapped and protected by clothes like the body. At the same time, people in urban areas face more skin problems under UV radiation. The existence of skincare is to delay women's aging, solve and improve all skin problems.
Tumblr media
The biggest advantage of skincare is to improve skin problems, restore healthy radiance to the skin, and delay aging. It should be noted that skincare does not make people younger, because skincare cannot change the fact that age exists. It can only be said that a person who is accustomed to skincare always looks younger than their peers. So, don't believe that skincare can instantly make you twenty years younger, it's impossible. As a person ages, the collagen on their skin will also decrease, and their skin's resistance and metabolic capacity will correspondingly decline. Therefore, even if you diligently take care of your skin every day, you still cannot stop the pace of aging, which is a very realistic thing. When a woman reaches the age of 25-35, the collagen on her face begins to fade away, and her face becomes dull and lifeless. So basic care should be done before the age of 25 to prepare for delaying aging in the future. Otherwise, by the time you reach 50-60, your face will have become loose, and even if you use expensive skincare products, there won't be much change in appearance.

Most people's faces have the highest collagen levels when they are 18 years old. It is said that skincare should start from a young age. If you develop a habit of skincare, by the age of 70, you may look like someone else who is 50 years old. This is what people say: Skincare - always the same, without skincare - looks very old. Although everyone's natural skin foundation is different, we cannot change our appearance at birth, but we can rely on our own efforts to maintain our skin in the healthiest and fuller posture

Why Choose HBOT in Patna? Exploring the Benefits and Applications
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has become a widely recognized treatment for a variety of medical conditions. The therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, allowing for increased oxygen absorption by the body's tissues. This method is known to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and improve overall health. In recent years, HBOT has gained popularity in Patna, where residents are increasingly turning to this advanced therapy for its numerous benefits.
The Rising Popularity of HBOT in Patna
Patna, the capital city of Bihar, has seen significant advancements in healthcare infrastructure. As the city continues to grow, so does the demand for innovative and effective medical treatments. HBOT has emerged as a preferred choice for many due to its non-invasive nature and the variety of conditions it can address.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or looking to enhance your overall wellness, HBOT in Patna offers a promising solution. Here’s a closer look at why you should consider this therapy and how it can benefit you.
What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy involves placing a patient in a special chamber where the air pressure is increased to three times higher than normal atmospheric pressure. In this environment, the lungs can take in more oxygen than would be possible under standard conditions. This enriched oxygen supply is then carried throughout the body, aiding in the repair and regeneration of damaged tissues.
Benefits of HBOT in Patna
1. Accelerated Wound Healing
One of the primary applications of HBOT is in promoting wound healing. The increased oxygen levels in the blood can significantly speed up the healing process, making it particularly beneficial for those with diabetic foot ulcers, radiation injuries, and other chronic wounds.
2. Enhanced Recovery from Surgery
For patients recovering from surgery, HBOT can reduce the risk of complications and enhance recovery times. The therapy helps reduce inflammation and swelling, which are common post-surgical issues. Many residents of Patna are opting for HBOT as part of their post-operative care regimen.
3. Treatment of Decompression Sickness
Divers and those involved in high-altitude activities may experience decompression sickness, a condition caused by a rapid decrease in pressure. HBOT is a well-established treatment for this condition, helping to alleviate symptoms and prevent further complications.
4. Support for Cancer Treatment
HBOT is increasingly being used as an adjunct therapy in cancer treatment. It has been shown to enhance the effectiveness of radiation therapy by increasing oxygen supply to the tumor site. Additionally, it helps reduce radiation-induced damage to healthy tissues, making it a valuable option for cancer patients in Patna.
5. Improvement in Neurological Conditions
Patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and cerebral palsy can benefit from HBOT. The therapy helps in restoring brain function by increasing oxygen supply to the affected areas, promoting recovery, and improving cognitive function.
6. Anti-Aging and Wellness
Beyond medical applications, HBOT is also being embraced for its anti-aging and wellness benefits. The therapy can rejuvenate the skin, boost the immune system, and improve overall vitality. For those in Patna looking to enhance their quality of life, HBOT offers a natural and effective solution.
Why Choose HBOT in Patna?
1. Advanced Healthcare Facilities
Patna has rapidly developed its healthcare infrastructure, with state-of-the-art HBOT centers equipped with the latest technology. These facilities are staffed by trained professionals who ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care.
2. Accessibility and Affordability

3. Comprehensive Treatment Options
HBOT centers in Patna offer a wide range of treatment options tailored to meet individual needs. Whether you’re seeking therapy for a specific medical condition or looking to improve your overall health, you can find a solution that fits your requirements.
4. Expert Care
The HBOT centers in Patna are staffed by experienced medical professionals who specialize in this therapy. Their expertise ensures that patients receive personalized care and achieve the best possible outcomes.
Applications of HBOT in Patna
HBOT is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including:
Chronic Wounds: Diabetic foot ulcers, pressure sores, and other non-healing wounds.
Radiation Injuries: Tissue damage caused by radiation therapy.
Infections: Particularly those that are resistant to antibiotics.
Neurological Disorders: Stroke, cerebral palsy, and traumatic brain injuries.
Decompression Sickness: Commonly seen in divers and pilots.
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: HBOT is the primary treatment for severe cases of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Q3: How long does an HBOT session last?
A typical HBOT session lasts between 60 to 90 minutes. The duration of treatment depends on the condition being treated and the individual patient’s needs.
Q4: How many HBOT sessions are required?
The number of sessions required varies based on the condition being treated. Some patients may need as few as 5 sessions, while others may require 30 or more. Your healthcare provider in Patna will create a personalized treatment plan for you.

With advanced facilities, expert care, and a growing body of evidence supporting its efficacy, HBOT in Patna is set to play a significant role in the city’s healthcare landscape.

Stocks tumbled over fears of a U.S. economic slowdown (NYT) A wave of anxiety rippled through financial markets today, with stocks falling in the U.S. and around the world as investors zeroed in on signs of a slowing American economy. The S&P 500 fell 3 percent, its worst day since September 2022. The drop brings the index down 8.5 percent from its peak in July, but it’s still up 8.7 percent in 2024 overall. Investors were apparently spooked by a combination of factors last week. Today’s drop extended a sell-off that began after the U.S. jobs report on Friday showed significantly slower hiring, with unemployment at its highest level in nearly three years. The report also followed a Federal Reserve meeting in which officials decided to keep interest rates steady. That fueled fears that the Fed might have waited too long to cut rates, allowing a soft landing to turn into a more turbulent one.
Phoenix: Living with heat (NZZ) If you want to understand what heat does to people, you have to study it where it already dominates life. In Phoenix, Arizona, for example, in America’s Southwest. Nearly every day in July featured temperatures above 43 degrees Celsius (above 109 degrees Fahrenheit), with nights never dropping below 32 degrees. With an average daily temperature of 36 degrees, June was the hottest month on record. The rising nighttime temperatures could ensure that the summer record of 2023 with 55 extremely hot days is broken again this year. After sunset, concrete facades, roofs and asphalt roads continue to radiate stored heat for hours—so much so that people sweat outside until well after midnight. People who live in Phoenix only open the door at night to get some fresh air. If you want to meet people on the street in the city’s residential areas, you have to get up early. Joggers who want to run around the block more than twice set off at half past four at the latest, when it is coolest. Dogs are taken for a walk between five and six, and after sunrise it is rare to see a baby carriage on the street. A greenhorn who has gone outside without a water bottle is kindly but emphatically told by passersby how dangerous this is. You sweat almost constantly in this climate.
Tropical Storm Debby hits Florida with floods (AP) Tropical Storm Debby slammed Florida with torrential rain and high winds, contributing to at least four deaths as it turned menacingly toward the Eastern Seaboard’s low-lying regions and threatened to flood some of America’s most historic Southern cities. Record-setting rain was expected to cause flash flooding, with up to 30 inches (76 centimeters) possible in some areas, the National Hurricane Center said. The potential for high water threatened the historic cities of Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina. Up to 18 inches (46 centimeters) was forecast in central and north Florida. / Something else Hurricane Debby brought: (CNN) Twenty-five packages of cocaine weighing about 70 pounds washed ashore along on a beach in Islamorada, Florida, on Sunday, according to a social media post from US Customs and Border Patrol. According to the agency in Miami, a good samaritan discovered the drugs and alerted authorities. The cocaine has a street value of more than $1 million.
Prime Minister Condemns ‘Far-Right Thuggery’ as Riots Grip U.K. (NYT) Anti-immigration rioters attacked a hotel in the town of Rotherham in northern England on Sunday, breaking windows and appearing to set fires at a hotel that has housed asylum seekers, as riots continued in Britain. The police in cities across the country have braced for continued far-right and anti-immigration protests spurred by a deadly stabbing attack last week in the northern English town of Southport. Disinformation spread rapidly that erroneously claimed the suspect in the knife attack was an immigrant. On Saturday, dozens of people were arrested as demonstrations from Liverpool to Belfast descended into violence. Sunday saw a new wave of clashes, with groups gathering in Rotherham, Bolton, Hull, Southport, Middlesbrough and other towns and cities scattered across the country that devolved into varying degrees of violence.
Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina resigns and flees country as protesters storm palace (BBC) Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has resigned and fled the country. Hasina, who was seen as increasingly authoritarian, was forced out by weeks of protests that led to deadly clashes with the security forces. She had led Bangladesh since 2009, and took a helicopter to India, according to BBC Bengali. Hasina's resignation comes as thousands of protesters have taken to the streets in the capital Dhaka—with thousands more set to follow, a day after clashes between police and protesters left at least 90 people dead. Demonstrators stormed Hasina's official residence in Dhaka, looting it and carrying away furniture.
Thai democracy (Washington Post) Pita Limjaroenrat is arguably Thailand’s most popular politician—but his career now hangs in the balance. The suave, charismatic figurehead of Thailand’s Move Forward party led his progressive, reformist faction to a stunning first-place victory in general elections in May 2023. But the political establishment in Bangkok, enmeshed in close to a decade of de facto military rule, had other ideas. Conservative forces moved against Pita and his allies, with the Senate, comprised of lawmakers handpicked by the regime, thwarting his coalition’s ability to form a ruling government. Eventually, the Pheu Thai party, one of Move Forward’s erstwhile allies, broke with Pita and joined hands with the same military that had thrown it out of power in 2014. Pita, cast into the opposition, has been subjected to a concerted campaign of lawfare targeting both him and his party. On Aug. 7, Thailand’s constitutional court is set to rule whether to dissolve Move Forward and effectively disqualify Pita himself from holding political office in the near future. The case is centered on Move Forward’s campaign pitch to reform Thailand’s draconian lèse-majesté laws that criminalize critical speech about the Thai monarchy; they are now being wielded by the state to potentially kneecap Pita and his party. The looming crisis spotlights how Thailand is a “competitive autocracy,” as Pita put it to me himself in an interview last week. “An election victory does not translate to governance here.”
Four years after the Beirut port blast, justice is still stalled (AP) Four years ago, Helen Ata got a call from someone she didn’t know telling her that a massive explosion at the Beirut port had caused her building to collapse. Her brothers were trapped under the rubble. One of them, Issam, survived, with a permanent disability in his right leg. Her twin brother Abdo, whom she calls her “other half,” died. The port blast anniversary Sunday comes as the region braces for retaliation after an Israeli strike killed a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut and an explosion in Tehran, widely blamed on Israel, killed top Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. For many, the fears of a new escalation come as wounds of the port explosion four years ago remain raw. On Aug. 4, 2020, hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrate detonated in a Beirut Port warehouse. The gigantic blast tore through the Lebanese capital, killing at least 218 people, according to an AP count, wounded more than 6,000 others, and devastated large swaths of Beirut, causing billions of dollars in damages. The blast stunned the nation and a probe by a maverick investigative judge into the explosion shook the country’s ruling elite, rife with corruption and mismanagement. However, years of obstructions by top officials to dodge accountability and stall the probe have hampered hopes for justice.
International airlines have suspended flights to Israel (NYT) Israel went into a new workweek in a state of deep uncertainty on Sunday, with the potential for attacks by Iran and the militant groups it supports already causing disruptions for many. A number of international airlines have suspended flights to and from Israel pending expected retaliation against the country by Iran and its Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah. That has left tens of thousands of Israelis unable to come home, according to an Israeli official who asked not to be named because he was not authorized to discuss the matter. Delta, United, the Lufthansa group and Aegean Airlines were among those that suspended services to Israel. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is asking citizens traveling abroad to fill out an online survey to help the government map where they are and try to organize solutions, including alternative commercial flights. Most are believed to be stuck in Europe and the United States.
Israeli Reservists Confront Toll of Protracted War (WSJ) Aday after Hamas attacked Israel and sparked war on Oct. 7, Adi Hazan drove to a rally point in southern Israel and began what he thought would be one or two months of emergency military-reserve service. Nearly 10 months later, the machine-gunner is still deployed—and the rest of his life is in shambles. His construction business is failing, he is sinking into debt, and his family relies on handouts from friends and charities. And he doesn’t see an end in sight. A small nation with fewer than 10 million people, Israel relies heavily on reservists such as Hazan to keep its military functioning in times of crisis. But now, with the war in Gaza heading into its 11th month, and long-running exchanges of fire with regional militias such as Hezbollah heating up, many of those fighters are close to a breaking point. Exhausted and in some cases demoralized, they are struggling to balance family and work with military service, while the economic toll from their absences mounts. The strain on military manpower is one reason Israeli officials are hesitant to launch an all-out war against Hezbollah, which would require the same cohort of weary reservists to fight against a military power far superior to Hamas.
Israeli Strike on Gaza Shelter Kills at Least 30 and Injures Dozens (NYT) An Israeli airstrike on a school functioning as a shelter in Gaza City killed at least 30 people and injured dozens more on Sunday, according to the Palestinian emergency response agency in Gaza and Palestinian news outlets. It was the third attack on a school in the last four days. Most of the victims were women and children, said Mahmoud Basal, a spokesman for the Palestinian Civil Defense. He said that an F-16 fighter jet hit a school called Hassan Salame, where at least 14 people were still buried under the rubble. Shrapnel and debris also hit a neighboring school known as Nasser, he said. The death toll was initially 25, but rose to 30. The Israeli military said it had targeted “terrorists” in “Hamas command and control centers” located at the Hassan Salame and Nasser schools. It said it had taken “numerous steps to mitigate the risk of harming civilians” before the strike, including using precision munitions, surveillance and intelligence, though it did not specify how it had done so.
Nigerian protests fizzle out amid deadly police crackdown (Reuters) Protests against a soaring cost of living in Nigeria ebbed on Monday as few people turned out in major cities after security forces used lethal force to quell demonstrations. Hundreds of thousands had taken to the streets in cities including the capital Abuja and the commercial hub Lagos demanding relief from economic hardship and widespread insecurity in protests which started last Thursday and were meant to continue until Aug. 10. Amnesty International said at least 13 people have been killed in clashes with the police since Thursday. Police have put the death toll at seven, blaming some on accidents and an explosive device. A firm police response and a call for a protest pause by President Bola Tinubu have dampened the demonstrations.

This is a lot of people in line trying to screw around with my husband and they're horrible. Right now I'm getting reports that they fleet is heating up
Hera
Yeah you can't tell that it is heating up about 30% we're going to not get out and the others are moving into the others will probably heat up and we can see them starting and it will be over for this fleet of trump and he doesn't have a couple more and she knows about it and they're not very big one of them is idle like I said three fleets he's got a Battlestar Galactica fleet what kind of sucks and bJ has one that sucks and the kind of weak and stuff there are oh there's one other fleet and it is Star blazers he has both typing but mostly has a gammarin. And really those ships are not that bad they're pretty fast and they have a big blaster and they can't take the other starships the other star Blazer ships are more powerful and they split their beam I mean it's kind of stupid and they're not wider so is there ridiculous people they get defeated pretty quick it's a pain in the ass and they're probably going to sit there and do this dumb s*** they're doing now but son and daughter say that it's not going to be that way but bja picks it up and other groups and it looks like cheesman. And we think that's true. Ulysses has Grant was played by several people Ken will not off to be president it's extremely dangerous and they get killed all the time but he does go to town on them. There are some other things happening and it is going to be a different day
There's a Saharan dust cloud it's Sunday and the cloud is supposed to be here sometime today or tonight people say it's here but you can't see it at all. Her son says it looks at a little but it could be forest fire. And now they have a little fire out there but I record show it's there and it's high altitude but it is coming down and it is kind of vicious. There are several things that happen. People looking at Sun and they think he's fine and to try and scan and stuff they don't see anything and it might be because he absorbs it or salt on his skin and they miss that kind of thing and he's got a whole bunch of iodine in there. We have a reading and it's a 0.0125 so it's 1/100 of a rad. It is noticeable and the water has nowhere near that much it's like playing the 0015 which is 1/1000 of a rad and that's when it's at its highest and we don't think it'll ever get that high again.
At this level and I plant life is going to grow faster and the oxygen levels are increasing slightly it's a .5% and also pets and animals gain a little energy and they eat and they rest it off and they feel better because they mutated and it wasn't too long ago 100,000 years and they became domesticated. Regular humans will feel a little sick and might actually knock all over on occasion and affects the bowels adversely. Already people having diarrhea it was here at 4:00 a.m. it's only going to increase over the next week and it will be a long dose and our son will grow in a few days and it will wreck the stuff stopping them from growing except iodine and that doesn't really inhibit as much as people things growth hormone inhibitor it does not even mask any of the hormones that body builders use they try it and they try and use the salt and then they piss it out dehydrate and it's not detectable salt is not it's better than using coffee but it's still you feel like hell up there and the sun can't do it he wants everybody won't be able to it's too much mass. Regular people feel sick and dizzy on day one by the time Friday rolls around it's going to be constant and it will be for about a month and a half because of the cities and they're not completely defunct they're empty and they refilled that's good and bad but while these guys are smoked what's going on now by day three regular people will start losing all their hair and unless they juice up or dope take medicine against cancer and radiation they're going to get sick and that low level that the red level is going to increase and it'll go up to about 0.2 by Friday this coming Friday and then it will continue at that level for about 4 days or 3 days and it'll go up to 0.35 and it will go up to probably 0.5 in 3 and 1/2 or 3 weeks actually and that's pretty high and it's going to fluctuate throughout the day it'll go down and if I don't have a break and then it will go upwards of one rad and we have to regulate it and I'll have to rain and it removes it and the rain is kind of salty it doesn't do a lot of it. And people like bja they do a lot better than Trump and his are going to be falling and they're going to get sick and your body is human only their head is mutated and it doesn't help them that much either way. And that is what's happening in a month and a half the cumulative radiation of being exposed is going to be about three rad the sun has to dump it and he is all the time and he's going to continue his regimen and he's going to notice that he's going to be healing and they're going to try and get him to the hospital which won't make any difference there might be less radiation in there in the air is filtered and the workers will get sick
But his diet and regimen right now will keep him healthy and alive and better than that and he is going to start growing during the process and absorbing food better and this is thank God this is stuffing himself and he's pooping a lot

We have some things to say it will be for a month or a month and a half and it will be a slow process and we've been saying it's not half of them are out that's what we're saying is half of them are completely blocked and having wars and Trump is grabbing some stuff and he has a chance he makes so he's not absolute zero and that's been going on for a while about 3 days for it now since last Thursday that's true and it's been over a week and it will continue and it's going to go on that way really they're probably at 10 to 15% that's the stashes and cashes however the nuclear bunkers are different those are disabled and blocked and nothing comes out of them for the most part no those come out and they chase them down and you can see it in mad Max and doing the same thing in a small scale I think we don't think there's a weapon in it but so then go ahead and do that and yeah the truck is that red one that they almost hit our son with and yeah it's penance. The radiation is going to be very high for a week and he pretty much knows it's the big stashes and caches and the big nuclear bunkers and the s***** cities and the last one is number one and everybody has to get ready for that it's coming probably in less time than you would think in about 3 weeks and they have a war at each one and they get sucked into it all of them and they're fighting over there's a bunch of them. I swear they are and it's where people get bent all the time and supposedly don't care but it's not true they're trying to get away from people who are pushing them around and it doesn't seem to work and they get hurt pretty bad more shortly

The Role of Energy-Saving Window Films
Energy-saving window films are a remarkable technological advancement designed to reduce heat transfer through windows. These films are applied to the interior surface of windows and work by reflecting a significant portion of solar radiation, thereby reducing the amount of heat that enters a building. This reduction in heat gain can dramatically lower cooling costs during Jacksonville’s hot and humid summers.
Benefits of Energy-Saving Window Films
The advantages of installing energy-saving window films extend beyond mere energy cost reductions. These films contribute to a more comfortable indoor environment by minimizing hotspots and glare, which can be particularly beneficial in homes with large windows or offices with extensive glass facades. Additionally, by blocking harmful UV rays, window films protect furnishings, flooring, and artwork from fading, thereby extending their lifespan.
Moreover, energy-saving window films enhance privacy without compromising on natural light. With varying degrees of tint available, residents can choose a level of privacy that suits their needs while still enjoying the benefits of daylight.
