Top 10 things not to do when you hike Arthur's Seat
1. don't wear sandals - you need quality shoes to make this hike as easy as possible, the stones are slippery - if they are there at all - and this will lead to blisters and sore feet and ankles for days to come
2. don't forget water - it is a long way up, especially on a sunny warm day you'll be thirsty by the time you get up there
3. don't hike down a path that doesn't exist - this may lead to extreme confusion on how to get down, and also cause a slow and frightening trip
4. don't bring a phone/camera with a dead battery - the pictures don't do the view justice, but it is still a very picturesque location
5. don't be in a rush to get anywhere after - the view is worth the time, enjoy yourself while you're up there, you made it!
6. don't be afraid of heights - kind of self explanatory, but some points you will be climbing straight down or around a sharp edge
7. don't underestimate it - this is not a quick hike up and over to get to a pub, although it is pretty rewarding to come down to an ice cold drink. plan an hour and a half to two hours for your hike
8. don't forget to enjoy yourself - it is a hard hike, if you slip and fall, laugh it off, it's all a part of the journey
9. don't skip out because you're tired - you will be walking a lot on your trip and while this just may seem like more useless walking, it's not, the views are unbeatable and the feeling of accomplishment and amazement at the top are worth it
10. don't wear sandals - yes, you will survive, but its important enough to repeat, don't do it!
