thinking once more about the chess motif in Skybound and how it plays into the overall story and how it gives Zane a little plot thread to skate along even though it only shows up, what, three times? I've harped on how it plays into the overall narrative and how I love it - but for Zane it's something SO special.

At first it's familiar territory, and then Nadakhan's using it as a basis to destabilize Zane and take him out of the picture- and then suddenly there's Echo trying his DAMN best to fill Zane's role whether or not he knows that's what he's doing, right down to the board game pastime -

And then their paths cross and that is IT. Underbaked motif she may be, but she's got some depth to her!!!
