..siguiendo con el cd NO LINE ON THE HORIZON de U2 [pensado como un doble cd DAYLIGHT y DARKNESS] q fue acompañado de una roadmovie llamada LINEAR [sobre un viaje FRANCIA_ESPAÑA_MARRUECOS] y del q hicieron la gira 360 [la q más recaudo en la historia] q vi en MELBOURNE tras empezar en BARCELONA con 2 conciertos [en 2do de ellos tocaron x 1era vez ELECTRICAL STORM tras ser lanzada 9 años antes en su recopilatorio 90_00..así como homenajearon a Michael JACKSON q acababa de morir cantando MAN IN THE MIRROR del cd BAD]..fue lanzado con el single GET ON YOUR BOOTS donde dicen que el FUTURO NECESITA UN GRAN BESO cosa en la q repare al ver unas mochilas de U2 en CANCUN con esa frase.

X cierto..el lanzamiento del cd NO LINE ON THE HORIZON de U2 coincidió con el de VIRGINIA MAESTRO como LABUAT x lo q lo reseñaron conjuntamente en ELMUNDO.ES metiéndola un BUEN PALO aunque decían q estaba BUENISIMA jaja aunque se posicionó en el TOP ORO venciendo al cd YEARS OF REFUSAL de MORRISEY.

X cierto..fotografié entera toda la REVISTA OK! q me dieron sobre U2 [al pagar en Efectivo así como un descuento] x lo q ahora se q su productor clave en CD THE JOSHUA TREE Steve lillywhite sufrió en COZUMEL [MEXICO] un VARAPALO al ahogarse su mujer haciendo submarinismo

Entonces cuando compre el CD NO LINE ON THE HORIZON [q en una primera escucha me decepcionó.. x lo q dije q solo me gusto su caja VISELADA y la portada con un SIMBOLO DE IGUAL q solo vino en las primeras ediciones]..también compre camisetas sobre JESUCRISTO en una tienda CRISTIANA en GUADALAJARA [MEXICO]..y la q más me gustaba era la q simulaba el logotipo de HARLEY DAVIDSON pero con REY DE REYES y lema REBELDE CON CAUSA así como DONDE ESTA EL ESPIRITU DE DIOS AHI HAY LIBERTAD [CORINTIOS]

BGM: U2 - Get On Your Boots

今日は休日だった。朝、恒例のzoomでのミーティングで英会話に興じる。その後、これまで続けている英語のアクティビティ（つまり、どんなことを英語を学ぶ上でやってきたか）をメモパッドに書いていった。たとえば英語で毎朝日記を書きつけ続けていること、いつも書いている英語メモ、DiscordやMeWeでの英語でのコミュニケーション（単にチャットしているだけだが）、そしてその他SNSを使った交際。その後、図書館に行きオーシャン・ヴオン『地上で僕らはつかの間きらめく』を借りる。

10時より、zoomを使った「発達障害を考える会」のオンラインミーティングに参加する。そこにおいて、ぼくの発表の板に上に書いてきた英語活動について話す。この学びの始まりをたしかに思い出せる。なぜこんなふうに英語を学ぼうと思い始めたのか――その昔、40歳の時（そしてすでに人生に絶望していた頃）、いまのジョブコーチの方に言われた言葉が発奮するきっかけとなったのだった。「あなたの英語はきれいでわかりやすいです」と。そしてほぼ同時期、MeWeで別の友だちが言ってくれた。「あなたの英語はクールだ！」。ああ、そこから変わったのだった。

でも、だからといって「英語は必須！ できないのは単にあなたが怠惰だからだ。世界はグローバル化しているんだから」なんてことは言わない（「口が裂けても」言わない。ぼくだって皮肉でもなんでもなく、きわめて怠惰な人間です）。この世にはすでにいろいろなデバイスが存在する。平たく言えば、翻訳してくれるポケトークのような機器がある。そうした機器はきわめて早く・的確に英語に翻訳してくれる。それらを使うな、なんてことは言わない。便利なのはいいことだ。ただ、思い出すのは「サピア=ウォーフの仮説」だ。使う言語がその人の考え方・フィーリングを左右する（可能性を持つ）というもので、この仮説にしたがえば言葉を学ぶこと・話すことは別の言語へと自分を開くチャンネルとなりうる。だから興味を以て学べるのだろう。

そのミーティングでは、他の方のプレゼンテーションも楽しめた。特にある方の「ルッキズム」という現象に関する発表が面白かった。これは見かけ・外見がその人の印象を左右しかねないというものだ。言い換えれば外見がその人に対する偏見を生むきっかけとなる（「偏見」なので、騙されることもある）。ぼくが思い出すのは、とあるアメリカのネイティブの方の話。この方は英語教師で、アフロ・アメリカン（俗に言う「黒人」。ただ、彼女のルーツはよく知らない）なので「ヒップホップはお好きですか」と訊かれてそれで困ったのだとか。もちろんアフロ・アメリカンならヒップホップなどの音楽に通暁しているという偏見の産物だろう。

夜になり、またある友だちの英語でのzoomのミーティングに参加する……ああ、アホみたいにたく��んの機会を介して英語に触れている。勉強家？ ではないだろう。なんというか、自分でも「英語クレイジー」だなとあきれてしまった。

It’s cool and calm to listen to. This week when you put on some background music to occupy your head, just listen to it for a change. It’s calming. 

Cancer Moon-Child 

DAMNIT, Cancer! The song you got is called “Boll Weevil”. That’s not the annoying part. The name of the group who recorded it is, and this is the legit full name… “The Presidents of the United States of America”. A name so pretentious it barely fits on the spine of a CD jewel case. This week stop being so.. You know… like Leo!

Leo 

OH! We know how you are, Leo! Always the center of attention and ready to be a drama queen. So, ready for your song and group? You get… A PODCAST?! No, seriously! You got the Buck Benny Podcast replaying the old Jack Benny shows - this one was from 1954. How ironically fitting. Bet you’ll be the only one to get this too.

Virgo 

You get a serious throw-back to the 50’s! “My Little Girl” from TT Grace; a Rock-n-Roll Doo Wop greaser song released in 2017. This week, get some engineer boots, leather jacket, and grow out your sideburns to your jawline… unless you look better in mary janes, a poodle skirt, and cat’s eye sunglasses.

Libra 

You get Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto Number 2 in C Minor”. Here’s what someone wrote about it when it was first performed:

You got… It LOOKS like some kind of weird MIDI file. The hell even is this? “D_E1M1-dot-MUS”? All we can read in the file’s info is the name ”Bobby Prince” and the year 1993. Screw this. If you think we’re gunna find an old Pentium machine with a SoundBlaster16 in it to see what this is, you’re nuts. We’ll throw it on a floppy disk to you. You figure it out.

Capricorn 

For you, we found a listening that’s more annoying than the one Cancer got. Which song it is isn’t important. It’s from the soundtrack to the musical named… and I SWEAR to you this is real: “Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812”. The plot involves characters attending an opera… in the middle of what’s been described as an electropop opera. This week just… stop being so full of yourself.

Aquarius 

Look, we are NOT picking on you this time. You got… (*Sigh*) the 80’s hit… “Canon in D” by Johann Pachelbel. In this case that would be the Sixteen Eighties. Yes, it’s got a bad rap, but it’s the basis for so many other hit songs. This week checkout Rob Paravonian’s treatise on this song on YouTube.

Pisces

SO!!! stranger liv is a neighbor & family friend to the wheelers! she spent most of her childhood just a few houses down. she went to hawkins middle, graduated from hawkins high, moved to the city... and then moved back to hawkins a few years later way cooler. better hair. better clothes. more intimidating.

she misses the big city but she ran out of money. so she moved back to hawkins, moved back in with her dad, works at his company to save cash, and dreams of leaving again one day.

since moving back to hawkins she doesn't quite feel like she has much in common with the people around her anymore. and she doesn't really want to have much in common with them. she wants to leave, to go back to the big city, so she's kinda like a ghost. she's around and people try to nail her down, but she doesn't let them. she gets invited to parties and she stops by, has a drink, makes a round, but she leaves early. she smiles when boys ask her out but she never says yes. she's known and liked, fairly popular, friendly and chatty, but no one really knows what she has going on except her. and she likes it like that.

if she is not at work she is at the mall! and if she is not at the mall she is at the record store! and if she is not at the record store she is at family video! and if she is not at family video she is at home, blasting music, watching a movie, talking on the phone, or doing her hair. or all of the above. orrr. she's with mike and his friends.

it started with the nintendo. mike and his friends found out she had a nintendo and a big screen tv and they started coming over to ask if they could use them. and she said sure, because mike's a family friend and they're good kids and she doesn't play it very often anyway. and she lives with her dad but he's usually out of town for work, so the company is kind of nice! and then they started eating her snacks while they played. and then they started staying for dinner. and then they started passing out on her living room floor on the weekends. and then before she knew it, she was a babysitter, an older sister, a registered adult to them. they're always around. she drives them to the arcade, to the movies, she picks them up from school, from hellfire club... and that is how she meets a certain someone.

she's fun! her sense of style is fun! she's used to eyes on her and she secretly likes the attention, so she enjoys being bold! she's not afraid to show her body with cute shorts or tight spandex and she's not afraid to wear bright colors, from pastels to day glow! and while she'll happily wear heels or boots, depending on what goes best with the outfit, her sneakers are her go-to. she is known for her hair (look out, steve) because it's red and it's big and she loooves having fun with makeup, whether it's glitter eyes or bold lips.

as for music, she is all about classic rock! she likes pop too, and new wave when it gets popular, but her parents always listened to rock growing up and it's her favorite because of that. U2, toto, styx, boston, the cure, the smiths, kiss, whitesnake, scorpions, zz top, red hot chili peppers... but journey is her number one!

and as for media!!! she loves horror movies. which you wouldn't be able to tell by the way she dresses and presents herself, but she loves 'em. friday the 13th, a nightmare on elm street, the exorcist, the shining... she's always going down to family video to see what's new in the spooky section! but she loves other movies too! the classics, like the breakfast club and back to the future and indiana jones. but she thinks 'this is spinal tap' is probably her favorite of all time. between that and the poster she has of kelly from l.a. guns on her wall, the crush she develops on eddie really isn't that much of a surprise.

Songs Simon's Band Definitely Played Covers Of

i don't know if this has been done before, but... (*drum roll*)

Julianblackthronspancakes proudly presents a set list that the most happenin' band in Brooklyn (AKA Simon's Band) has undoubtedly performed. Probably poorly and much to the delight of Clary and co.

SPOILERS FOR PRETTY MUCH ALL OF TMI! AND ALSO SHADOWHUNTER ACADEMY! IN DESCRIPTIONS OF WHY I PICKED EACH SONG :)

1. "Anthem" by Leonard Cohen

This one is actually canonical. Clary directly quotes lyrics (there is a crack in everything/that's how the light gets in) while thinking about the chances of saving Possessed! Jace. She heard the song one of Simon's gigs, and the idea of Simon trying to sing like Leonard Cohen makes me very happy. I hope it makes you happy, too.

2. "Lover, You Should Have Come Over" by Jeff Buckley

Sadly not canon. I love the idea of Eric attempting to play a hand organ solo while Simon gazes longingly into the crowd. At one point he definitely sang this while creepily staring at Clary the entire time, but she had no idea.

3. "Green Eyes" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Simon's Band def played a lot of Nick Cave, but especially this song. He and Eric would be so cringey trying to sing the echo-y part. Again, for Clary, who's oblivious to Simon's affection.

4. "Golden" by Fall Out Boy

Dude it would sound so bad. It's in such a funky key and they would butcher it but they would be so into it. Jace would laugh his fuckin ass off, and Simon would subsequently remove the song from all future set lists.

5. "Alligator Skin Boots" by McCafferty

This song came out in 2014, but in my heart they peformed it during CoFA. This was the song were rehearsing when Jordan came to audition... his hippie werewolf heart was unprepared. Why did they have to put me with the weird emo vampire baby??

6. "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Jordan says if they have to play emo music, it will at least be emo music with a cool guitar part. The TMI crew comes to watch him play and they make fun of Izzy for defending Simon's honor.

7. "I'm On Fire" by Bruce Springsteen

This song was a favorite for gigs during that brief time when Jace was, you know, on fire. He was not amused.

8. "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" by Death Cab for Cutie

More quintessential emo music that Jordan doesn't hate. It's not the most difficult song to play, so it really doesn't even sound that bad. He sang it for Clary once, but it's Izzy's now. All of the best songs are.

9. "Africa" by Toto, but ~acoustic~

Those harmonies are layed on thick. Simon plays the little xylophone part and Jace snorts soup through his nose.

10. "Border Song" by Elton John

An attempt is made for the runs, and there are so. many. voice. cracks.

11. "Teenage Dirtbag" by Wheatus

Can you even be a boy band without covering this song??

12. "With or Without You" by U2

It's not... bad. It's not great, either.

13. "All I Really Want" by Alanis Morissette

It is decidedly not good. They can't quite get the key right, and everybody ends up sort of screaming the lyrics. Also, they lay it on thick with that harmonica. Alec decides he is not drunk enough for this shit.

14. "Kiss You Inside Out" by Hedley

Their acoustic arrangement has the right sound for their daytime Java Jones gig. The lyrics are perhaps too sexual for such an event. Obviously, Eric and his nefarious loins take the lead on vocals.

15. "Your Eyes" from Rent

The band's first and only venture to Broadway. Simon replaces the "MIMIIIIIIIII" with "IZZYYYYYY" and everybody tries not to laugh. Not Izzy, though - she thinks her nerd boy is sweet.

16. "Isabel" by the Wombats

This song didn't release until 2015, but in my heart, Simon sings it at the end of every set after he and Izzy are a thing. When he and Izzy reconcile during Shadowhunter Academy, he starts to sing it to her all the time.

Oh! I made a playlist if you cared to give any of these songs a listen, or imagine the cover songs of Simon's Band through the ages. It makes me very happy.

BGM: U2 - Get On Your Boots

It was a day off, and this morning I enjoyed an English meeting on zoom as usual. After that, I wrote down what kind of English activities I've been doing now on my memo pad- For example, writing this English journal, the English memo I usually write, the chatting on Discord, MeWe, and other various social media. After that, I went to the library to borrow Ocean Vuong's book "On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous".

From 10 am, I started enjoying the meeting about autism (by using zoom.) At the meeting, and at the turn of my presentation, I talked about the English activities I've been doing until now. I can certainly remember the beginning of this learning - once, when I was 40 and almost had given up this life itself, the words from the current job coach (and also, she must be great friend) has changed me - "Oh! Your English is really clear for me to understand!" And, at almost the same time, another friend on MeWe said to me "Your English is so cool!". Yes, they has changed everything…

But, I never want to say as this. "Therefore, you MUST need to learn English because the world has been globalized actually." Now, there must be some really useful equipment/devices which can translate the things into English smoothly, and I won't say they have to be prohibited. But, I remember the "Sapir-Whorf hypothesis", which means the language I actually use can decide the way of thinking things. According to this theory, I might be able to change my mind itself by using another language.

At the meeting, I could have enjoyed the other members' presentations, too. Especially, a friend talked to us about an interesting phenomenon "lookism", which means the figure of any person can determine the one's impression. In other words, we can have a bias about someone by its figure… I've thought of this. I once met a native English teacher who looks like Afro-American (but I need to know her root exactly.) She has even been asked as "Do you like hip hop?" But I can't laugh this (of course!).

This evening, I enjoyed an English meeting on zoom held by a friend - Oh! My life must have plenty of opportunities of using English. Am I a hard worker? Or simply an "English crazy"?
