Hi all, as you know Zuzu’s Petals have a special place in my heart and when I heard my fave bass player Coleen Elwood has been hit with some health issues that have taken a financial toll on her I wanted to help. I’m sharing the link to her go fund me page in my bio here on insta in case anyone is in a position to help and feels called to do so. I know Coleen also treasures and welcomes healing thoughts, vibes and good energy so sending that her way is also appreciated!!

Coleen has been an inspiration to me since I first discovered her through music in the early 1990s. She’s never stopped being a force and voice for what’s truly important… I can’t say enough but that karma exists and what goes around comes around and Co deserves a lot to come around to her right now !

I bought the TwinTone dual tip Tombow markers in pastel and I really like them!

Tombows generally are a really good product, in my opinion. Mine did happen to arrive with the packaging looking stomped on, and the teal pen cracked and leaking ink, but it’s not worth the hassle of returning it for a refund for a single pen. It sucks but I’m blaming Amazon and not Tombow.

I’m planning to buy the other colors with my next check, they’re really smooth and vibrant. There’s a tiny bit of bleed through but I honestly think that’s the paper I used and not the marker.

They passed the smear test with flying colors. There’s the teeniest tiniest little smear with the darker color but I was pressing really hard and going extremely fast. After retesting it, I didn’t notice any more smearing.

I enjoy doing insect studies using the Tombow TwinTone pen. It has a super fine tip and a bold one, giving me plenty of options for my artwork.

The disheveled masterpiece of perpetual fuck-ups The Replacements. Having read Bob Mehr’s excellent biography, Trouble Boys: The True Story of The Replacements, it’s amazing how many times they came close to breaking big only to drink too much and/or sabotage themselves. Their next record and first on a major label, Tim, is probably better but Let It Be captures them in transition. They were moving out of the hard punk of their origins into post-punk as well as lead singer/songwriter Paul Westerberg’s was coming into his own. It was certainly a messy transition. On what other record are you gonna find a heartfelt song about non-gender conforming love, Androgynous, and a song like Gary’s Got a Boner? The album also has an undeniable one-two punch with the opening pair of songs, I Will Dare and Favorite Thing. The former track showing where they’d be going on their major label debut. Like the band itself, Let It Be is a fascinating, endearing mess.
