On August 8th 1984 the Kylesku Bridge officially opened to traffic.
The Kyslesku Bridge in Sutherland on the north-west of Scotland carries the non-trunk A894 across Loch a' Chàirn Bhàin between Unapool and Kylestrome.
The bridge was designed for what was then Highland Regional Council by Ove Arup and Partners. It was, in part, financed by the European Community, and built by Morrison Construction Ltd. The cost was £4 million, rather more than the budgeted £2¾ million, in part due to difficult weather conditions during construction.
The structure replaced a succession of ferries which had crossed between Kyslesk and Kylestrome since the early 19th century. When this ferry was not running, the only alternative was a 100 mile (160 km) detour around the NW Highlands.
Over the years, various ferries came and went, and small car-carrying ferries first appeared between the wars. The Kylesku Ferry was unusual in being free for much of its life. The Maid of Kylesku, a two car ferry, was built for the Kylesku crossing in the early 1950s, where it was operated until replaced by the Queen of Kylesku in 1967.
Check out the video below for a clip of the Queen of Kylesku, and can you imagine bairns being allowed to help like that nowadays!
The Bridge is one of those seminal points of the NC500 and lovers of road trips will appreciate the impressive way of affording us such magnificent views and access. There is a large car park on the North side where you can stop and take in the views.
Pics are of the bridge, of course and two of the ferries that used to sail betwen the points.

“LTD Crown Victoria”
1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria 🇺🇸
The 1987 Ford LTD Crown Victoria stands as a proud representation of American automotive craftsmanship during a time of transition. As the era of big-bodied sedans waned, this Ford model held its ground with a blend of traditional design and evolving technology. Originating from an era when full-size sedans dominated American roads, the Crown Victoria was a familiar sight, often associated with authority due to its widespread use in law enforcement and government fleets. A notable moment in its history was its role as the last full-size, rear-wheel-drive sedan offered by Ford until the introduction of the 1992 Crown Victoria.
Available exclusively for “No Limits” and “All Inclusive” tiers this January. Since February 1’st. Available for All Inclusive tier only.
Model with HQ interior, open/close doors, trunk and functional light.

Lockheed L-1011 All Nippon Airways
Registration: JA8514 Type: 1011-1 Engines: 3 × RR RB211-22B Serial Number: 1117 First flight: Jun 3, 1975
All Nippon Airways Co., Ltd., is the largest airline in Japan. Its headquarters are located in Shiodome City Center in the Shiodome area of Minato ward of Tokyo. It operates services to both domestic and international destinations. ANA bought its first widebody aircrafts, six Lockheed L-1011s, in November 1971. The aircraft entered service on the Tokyo-Okinawa route in 1974. Initially, the carrier had ordered McDonnell Douglas DC-10s but cancelled the order at the last minute and switched to Lockheed. ANA operated 21 of these jets as the main aircraft for trunk lines and major local routes and also used it on scheduled short-haul international flights from 1986. Known informally as the Tristar, it was retired from service in November 1995.

airsLLides No. 2664 EC-ECS, Boeing 737-375, Air Europa, Salzburg, January 20, 1989.
When established in 1986, Air Europa was the Spanish daughter of the British ILG-Air Europe Group Ltd. which later also formed an Italian subsidiary of the same name. Air Europa's initial corporate design thus also closely matched the British parent's brand, with just the altered last letter of the name and the national flags visibly distinguishing the two.
G-BNPB, Boeing 737-3S3, Air Europe, Salzburg, January 20, 1989.
Almost identical twins, aren't they: G-BNPB flies for parent Air Europe, performing a seasonal inbound charter to the Austrian alps, while its daughter's jet above is about to pick-up local Austrian residents for a break in the warm South of Europe.
The Spanish subsidiary Air Europe initially focussed on the leisure travel market, using a fleet of Boeing 737-300s, later supplemented by the Boeing 757-200 on trunk markets. The British mother however would soon struggling over financial turbulences caused by the entry into the scheduled passenger market, forcing ILG-Air Europe to cease trading in 1991.
The two Mediterranean subsidiaries however escaped the parent's failure and continued trading. While the Italian daughter, since 2000 under the control of former competitor Volare, ultimately also vanished following the new parents failure in 2004 and a fruitless attempt to restart business in 2007/08, the Spanish Air Europa has survived to the present day.
Merger attempts started by IAG International Airline Group that would have led to Air Europa's integration into Spanish flagcarrier Iberia were cancelled twice, and thus Air Europa still trades. However, it is no longer a leisure carrier, but a scheduled airline and member of Star Alliance, serving an extensive intra-European and Latin American network.

The A. & G. Price Ltd Foundry in Thames. January, 2021. This is gonna be a long one, so consider yourself warned.
Directly behind the image is where the East Coast Main Trunk Line (ECMT) connected to the Foundry and allowed for A. & G. Price built locomotives to be attached to the end of an outgoing NZR train.
Many non-Price Locomotives have graced the (long removed) timetable, including the 'Taupō Mallet' (ALCo 53970/1912).
But who were A. & G. Price? Originally founded in Onehunga, Auckland, as a marine firm by Alfred and George Price, the brothers would take advantage of the Coromandel gold rush and begin selling industrial pumps to mining companies in the 1870s.
They would also close down the Onehunga premises and set up shop in Beach Rd, Thames. Price got their start in the railway industry with a small 0-4-0ST locomotive for Messrs. Smith of Kennedy's Bay. This loco is generally considered to be a resounding failure. The first successful locomotives would be the Ministry of Works (known colloquially as the Public Works Dept, PWD) 501-502 series. These were identical to the NZR Wf Class.
Price is well known for their Climax and Heisler clones, which employed features from both locomotives. Notable engines include the Cb Type (Cb 117 used on construction of Nihotupu Dam), V Type ('true' Heisler clone), E Type (Class B Climax clone, used Heisler style pony trucks) and the Cba (an improved Cb). They would build 16-wheeler bush lokeys*.
Price would also build dozens of locomotives for New Zealand Railways and would later begin producing diesel locomotives for bush and industrial railways. By the 1990s, Price was king! They had spent the 20th Century building locomotives and road vehicles for lucrative government contracts, and there was no end in sight. They had even regauged the Silver Star carriages to metre gauge for export to Singapore.
Except there was. By 2017, the company lost most of its work, as neither NZRC (New Zealand Railways Corporation), TranzRail, TollRail, or KiwiRail have ever gone back to Price. The company was subsequently placed into administration. The company was saved by an Auckand based businessman and was reformed as AG Price Ltd, ending the 149-year legacy of the greatest engineering firm in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Many A. & G. Price locomotives can still be found on heritage railways, and I know of one Price-CAT Inc. motor grader in a museum. The Foundry is a heritage listed building which means it can never be torn down.

I have tried to find the artist s who worked on these. The closest I can get is one of there works in an online art gallery. Title: 54 Running Horses
It lists the art author as Jiahong Xie but that may just be a manager or art gallery contact. It says the store that makes this is in Anxi China but the store name is so bland I can't find it.
"By Spirits was founded by China Gifts & Crafts Wholesale Co. , Ltd. In 2003. We have a strong team of artists and craft masters, who have decades of experience." the store page is https://www.artquid.com/seller/byspirits/about

When is Tree Removal Necessary?
Health Issues: Trees can suffer from various diseases or infestations that compromise their health. Signs include yellowing leaves, dead branches, or fungus growth. If a tree is too far gone, removal may be the best option to prevent the spread of disease to surrounding plants.
Structural Damage: Severe weather conditions, like storms or heavy winds, can damage trees, making them unstable. If a tree shows signs of leaning or has split branches, it poses a risk to your property and should be assessed by a professional.
Safety Concerns: Trees that grow too close to power lines, homes, or other structures can become hazardous. If a tree's branches are touching a roof or power line, it's time to consider removal.
Landscaping Needs: Sometimes, tree removal is necessary to make way for new landscaping projects or home renovations. Removing unwanted trees can open up space and improve the aesthetics of your property.
