WINTER AHEAD (1/2) T.H.
Tumblr media
Summary: An unexpected pregnancy at 21 completely changes the lives of two young people. Over time, their paths diverge, and their hearts bear the pain of separation. Yet, the life born from their love keeps them unbreakably connected, showing that some bonds transcend time and differences. Also, it’s Christmas time!
A/N: I wrote this suddenly and couldn’t stop, but it will be divided into two parts because it took a different turn than I expected. Oh, and I know Christmas is already over, but my brain only started working after the festivities ended. I brought up some topics in this text that might be sensitive and cause some discomfort, but in the next chapter, some things will be explained.
The sound of the door opening, along with soft footsteps on the carpet, woke you up on yet another winter morning. Shortly after, you could feel the new weight on the blanket covering you, preventing the cold from reaching you.
"Mummy, are you awake?" The sleepy, drowsy voice reached your ears, and small fingers gently touched your face.
Delicate fingers gently trace imaginary lines on your face, attempting to wake you up.
"Mummy, come on. Daddy will be here soon."
It’s possible to detect the faint hint of desperation beginning to emerge in the little one's voice, as he spares no tactic to wake you up.
Stretching your arms without opening your eyes, you wrap Ethan in the blanket, eliciting a loud laugh from him.
"Oh no, help!" he shouts amid his laughter.
"This is an attack from the blanket monster!" you say, deepening your voice as you join in the game Ethan invented a few years ago.
As he tries to escape from the blanket you’ve wrapped him in, you attack with tickles, making him squirm uncontrollably on the bed.
"Mummy, please!" he says, laughing.
"Mummy? There’s no Mummy here, only the blanket monster."
"But I need my mum."
"Then do you surrender?"
"Yes, yes, please!" he says, and you release him, throwing your own body onto the bed and closing your eyes. When you feel Ethan stretch out over you, you open your eyes and smile at him.
"Oh, good morning, E."
"Good morning, Mummy! I was attacked by the blanket monster."
"Really? And did you defeat him?"
"Hm, not this time."
"Ah, that's okay. I bet the blanket monster had all his meals today, that's why he was so strong this time," you say, sitting up and pulling his little body close to yours. Ethan sits on your lap, his legs wrapped around your waist and his head resting on your chest as you lean back against the headboard of the bed.
Your hand gently pats his back, soothing him even more. No matter how much he grows, his mother's lap will always be his favourite place.
You bring your face closer to the top of his head and inhale the scent of baby shampoo coming from his soft hair.
Ethan may be just a few months away from turning 6 and becoming more independent in his routine, but to you, little E will always be the baby who cried loudly the first time you held him in your arms at 21.
From the moment you discovered you were pregnant, you knew life would never be the same, but the feeling of holding a newborn in your arms just minutes after he took his first breath of air was almost like a cold shower.
Since that moment, life took a new direction. There was no longer just Y/N. Now it would be Y/N and Ethan.
And Tom.
And as always, life spins in unexpected ways, and suddenly everything changes. Some things no longer seem to be enough.
After a few minutes in the same position, Ethan starts to move, and you release him to look at him.
"Can we have hot chocolate today?" he asks.
"Wasn't that our breakfast yesterday?"
"I know, but..." He turns his face, staring at the window. "I'm going to miss it."
He doesn't specify, but you understand what he means. It's the weekend, which means Ethan will spend the next few days away from home. Your home.
"I'm sure Daddy can make hot chocolate for you if you ask him."
"He makes it, but it's not like yours," he says, pouting.
"Ah, boy, stop trying to convince me with that face, you know it just makes me want to squeeze you!" you say, excited, wrapping him in your arms and hugging him tightly, covering his cheeks with kisses. "Go put on a sweater and let's have our breakfast, okay? Daddy will be here soon."
He nods and wriggles out of your arms, jumping off the bed and running toward his room. You get up and head to the bathroom, tying your hair back and washing your face to shake off the sleepiness.
When you reach the kitchen of the small apartment, Ethan is already trying to climb onto one of the stools at the counter—a thing you've already scolded him for trying to do on his own.
"What have I told you about asking for help?" you ask, approaching him and helping him sit on the stool.
"Sorry," he mumbles, then starts watching your movements as you gather the ingredients needed.
"Are you excited?" you ask, distracted.
"I am! Daddy said we're going to see the snow and the big Christmas tree. And then we're going to see Grandpa and Grandma."
This is a tradition of Ethan's that has been kept since his first Christmas, even though he was too young to understand. The photo on the wall serves as a constant reminder. Every Christmas, you would take him to the city center, where the Christmas tree was set up and the decorations lit up everything around.
However, the tradition of strolling through the city center during the festive season began long before Ethan ever thought about being born.
At 16, Tom took you for the first time to see the Christmas lights. According to him, it was just a walk among friends, but both of you knew that day meant so much more than that. After all, it was the day of your first kiss.
"This isn't a date," he said, intertwining his fingers with yours.
"Tom, I believe what we're doing qualifies as a date," you laugh.
"No, you deserve something better and bigger. You can consider this a date, fine, but we'll do more things and I'll take you to other places. I promise. A more exclusive place, too! There are too many people here," he says, looking around, and you laugh, pulling him closer and wrapping one of your arms that wasn't holding his around his neck.
"Any place with you is exclusive."
It’s been two years since you and Tom decided to go separate ways. For some reason, the relationship began to fade. It wasn’t for lack of love or affection for each other. But the heavy workload and raising a baby while still so young interfered with the future you had envisioned at 20, before Ethan became a matter that needed to be discussed.
Ethan was never considered a burden by either of you, but everything had to be reconsidered the moment you held the positive pregnancy test in your hands. Studies had to be put on hold for a while, and Tom had to find a full-time job that paid more than the part-time one he had at the time. In addition, he still needed to make time for his college studies. You also helped as much as you could during the pregnancy, taking online design courses that provided you with some work during that time.
Your parents were shocked, as were his, but they never denied their help. They were the support both of you needed in those first years. They helped with the payment of the first rent for the small apartment you found, and Tom made sure to pay them back as soon as he was able.
But their shock was even greater when they received the news that you and Tom were separating, instead of the engagement they had hoped would happen. Your mother, who had been so in love with Tom back then, cursed him with every name possible for neglecting the family he was starting to build. She demanded that he take responsibility for the consequences of his actions.
As you cried from the pain reflected in her words, you explained that it was a mutual decision. There was nothing more to be done. Tom also made it clear that he wasn’t abandoning anyone, he was just going to move out, and you two would no longer be a couple. But Ethan would remain the main reason for your relationship after the breakup.
He kept his promise and never let anything be lacking for his son. He is present and raises Ethan as a father should. But Ethan is still a child, one who learns everything with increasing ease. This means he has already questioned why mommy and daddy don’t live together.
Despite him enjoying having two different homes.
After Ethan finishes breakfast, he asks for permission to watch a cartoon on the living room TV, and you take the opportunity to change clothes and freshen up. Then, you go to Ethan's room, select his outfit for going out, and check the bag he packed the night before. Although he has his own things at his father's house, Ethan still spends most of his time with you, so there are always more things at your place. You add a few jumpers and socks to his backpack and call him to change clothes.
"Let me smell your breath," you say after helping him put on his socks. Ethan opens his mouth, and you bring your face closer to his. "Oh my god!" you exaggerate, acting shocked. "What on earth do you have living in that mouth?" Ethan laughs. "Go brush your teeth now, young man."
He quickly gets up, runs to the bathroom, adjusts the little stool so he can reach the sink, and closes the door. Privacy. The doorbell rings, and Ethan lets out a little squeal.
"It's Daddy!" he says, opening the bathroom door, his mouth covered in toothpaste.
"Hey, finish brushing your teeth, little monster. I'll open the door." He nods and returns to the task, doing it even faster, eager to see his dad.
You take a deep breath and walk toward the door, already knowing what you'll find when you open it. Tom hasn't changed much. Despite the marks on his face being more visible, he still carries the same boyish expression. The same one you once fell hopelessly in love with.
"Hey, I know I arrived a bit too early, but everyone’s excited to see him," he says, one hand going behind his head, scratching his neck. He’s wearing a heavy coat, which shows just how cold it is outside the apartment and building.
"Hi, no problem. You know he's also dying of anticipation," you laugh awkwardly. "Come on in, he's just finishing getting ready."
Tom steps through the door, and nostalgia hits him hard. When he moved out, he thought you’d probably look for another place too—maybe somewhere a little bigger, with three bedrooms and an office so you could work from home. At least, that’s what you both had planned while you were still together. He knows he wouldn’t have been able to stay in a place filled with so many memories if it had been you moving out instead of him.
He notices some changes in the place—the photos that used to feature three people have been taken down from the walls and shelves. Most of them now only show Ethan, with just a few including you. He spots one photo, though, showing your family and his, probably from Ethan's birthday.
This isn’t the first time he’s been inside your home since the breakup. He’s picked up and dropped off Ethan numerous times, including a few occasions when Ethan had a stomach ache and wanted to sleep in your bed. But he had never taken the time to look around. The strange, awkward air between you both always prevented him from examining how you chose to change things after he left.
But he seized the opportunity when you turned your back after saying you’d quickly check something in the laundry area. Unsure of what to do, Tom sat down on the sofa, while you hid near the washing machine, taking deep breaths to prevent the tears from escaping without permission.
No matter how much time passes, Tom holds a piece of your heart that you still haven’t been able to fill. Not with anyone else, nor with yourself. When everything ended, you truly believed that having Ethan would be enough. And he is more than enough. But Tom is unforgettable. Having him so close and still sharing something so precious with him sends shivers down your spine.
Because he’s right there. Just a few steps away. And he’s no longer yours.
The sharp sound of Ethan’s excited voice pulls you back, and you take a deep breath about three times, trying to slow your heart. You swipe your thumb under your eyes, drying any trace of tears.
"E, did you change your shirt?” you ask as you return to the living room, seeing Ethan sitting on the floor, showing Tom a new puzzle he got.
“Yes, I accidentally spilled water while brushing my teeth, Mom,” he says. “Sorry.”
“Oh, no problem, my love.” You move closer, crouch down, and kiss the top of his head. “Well done for changing it all by yourself.” He smiles and shifts his attention back to his dad, who keeps his eyes fixed on him.
You let Ethan and Tom talk on their own for a while and take the opportunity to wash the breakfast dishes.
It’s clear that Ethan prefers having this moment at home, without the rush and hurry of needing to leave right away. That’s why Tom always tries to arrive a little earlier than planned, as if to ease the transition between locations for the coming days.
A few minutes later, Tom's voice catches your attention.
"Y/N, can you come here?" You dry your hands and walk into the living room.
Ethan is sitting with his back to Tom, leaning on the coffee table, playing with a plastic robot.
"What's wrong?" you ask. Tom stands up from the sofa and takes your hand, pulling you a little away from the scene.
"He doesn’t want to go."
"What do you mean, he doesn’t want to go? A few hours ago, he was all excited."
"I noticed, but it’s been almost an hour since I arrived, and when I mentioned that we needed to go, he just turned his back and said he didn’t want to go." Tom’s unfocused, disoriented look tightens your chest.
The duration of Ethan's stays with each of you was never decided. One of the things you both agreed on was that the courts wouldn’t be involved at this stage—you both believed you could communicate and decide how Ethan’s custody would work. Tom spends a lot of time at his father’s beverage company, which makes it harder for him to connect with Ethan during the week. Your job is more flexible, allowing you to work from home and have more free time. However, Tom still asks to spend time with Ethan during the week on occasion and also picks him up from school when needed.
This is a new moment, one that neither of you may know how to handle. It’s never happened before. You gently touch Tom’s arm and walk around him to approach Ethan, sitting down beside him on the floor. The moment you do, he turns his head, resting it on the table.
"Bubba?" You use his favourite nickname. "Can you look at mommy?" Your hand strokes his back, but he stays in the same position, unresponsive. "Can we talk? Daddy said you were upset." With that, Tom moves closer and sits on the sofa behind you.
"Come on, bean. We’re here with you."
Ethan’s accumulated a series of nicknames throughout his life, even during pregnancy. Bean being one of them. And the fact that Tom used it now feels like a low blow, especially to you. After all, it was the way you both referred to him throughout the entire pregnancy.
"What’s bothering you?" No response. "Do you remember what you told me earlier? Daddy’s going to take you to see the snow and the Christmas tree. Grandma and Grandpa will be there too."
"Uncle Harry, Sam, and Paddy too. They’re all waiting for you," Tom adds.
Ethan's small shoulders begin to tremble, causing even more panic in both of you, who exchange a glance before turning your attention back to the little one. Slowly, Ethan starts to sob quietly, and your instinct is to pick him up and comfort him right away. But Tom places his hand on your arm, stopping you, and you look at him in disbelief.
"E, you need to tell us what’s going on."
"I don't want to go," he finally replies.
"Ethan, I need you to tell me why," Tom says.
"I don't want to go," he repeats.
"Right, we get it. But this was our agreement, remember? We have a lot to do at home."
"Mummy," Ethan says, sitting up and turning towards you.
"Bubba, why don’t you want to go with Daddy?" you ask gently. He moves closer to you and throws himself into your lap, wrapping his legs around your body and his arms around your neck, burying his face against you. Tom runs a hand over his face, unsure of what to do as the sound of Ethan’s crying grows louder, filling the room.
You look at Tom without knowing what to say, and he seems just as uneasy about the situation. Ethan has never refused to go out with him before. Could it be that the time he spends with Ethan isn’t enough? Tom looks like he’s ready to start an argument that won’t end anytime soon, judging by the expression on his face. You stand up, holding Ethan even closer to your body.
"I need to calm him down. Can you wait or come back later?" you ask.
"What? Y/N, no. You know I always come early just to avoid situations like this. Everyone is waiting for us at home. I need to go, and I need to take him with me." With that, Ethan clings even tighter to you. Tom notices, and rejection washes over his face.
"I'm sure everyone will understand. Do as you wish, but right now, my priority is him," you say, looking at him before turning away and walking to Ethan's little room. The bed, which he had tried to make himself, is cozy enough for you to lie down with him.
Ethan has always shown preferences and behaviours different from other children his age. This concerned you and led you to seek professional help. The paediatrician conducted some tests and recommended starting psychological treatment. A few sessions have already taken place, and Mia, the child psychologist, has had several conversations with you.
Throughout the entire separation period, what concerned you the most was Ethan's reaction and how all these changes would affect him.
Even though he was only three years old when it all happened, he witnessed small arguments between you and Tom, which, despite your best efforts to avoid, could not be entirely prevented. After that, the constant moving from one place to another undoubtedly made it difficult for him to identify with a single place.
Mum’s house, Dad’s house.
Where is Ethan’s home?
This was a question raised by the psychologist, and it has never left your mind since.
Ethan’s tiny fingers wrapped around your neck found the chain you rarely take off. He traced its path to the front, touching the small letter 'E' pendant. A gift from Tom when you both decided on the baby’s name. Some things are hard to leave behind.
You waited until his breathing steadied, making sure he had fallen asleep, before getting up.
The plan was to head to the living room and call Tom to let him know that Ethan had fallen asleep and it would probably be better to come back later. But as you stepped into the hallway, you found Tom sitting on the sofa, his head resting against the back, legs spread, shoulders slumped. Tired. That’s the word that best describes Tom Holland’s body language at that moment.
He slowly lifted his head as he heard you approach. You sat down next to him, your legs touching.
"He’s asleep."
"I figured that would happen."
"The psychologist said he might have issues related to this change in routine." Tom sighed.
Of course, he knows about the psychotherapy sessions Ethan has been attending. His consent is required, after all. But he has never attended a single parental guidance session, something that fills you with frustration.
"Do you think we’re doing something wrong?" you ask.
"I don’t know. Maybe?"
"He wasn’t supposed to be caught in the middle of all this mess."
"What do you want to do now, Y/N? We can’t change the past," he replies sharply.
"Hey, what’s going on with you? Where’s all this harshness coming from?" Tom takes a deep breath and leans his head back on the sofa again, staring at the ceiling.
"My son doesn’t want to go home with me. That’s all. He was fine, and then, out of nowhere, he turned his back on me. When I ask him something, he doesn’t respond." He looks at you now. "I didn’t tell you before because it was resolved, but two weeks ago, that Wednesday when you were stuck at work and asked me to pick him up from school… When he saw me—when he realised it wasn’t you—he didn’t want to leave. It was horrible for me because people were watching, and I’ve never seen Ethan cry as much as he did that day." He lets out a bitter laugh.
"Tom…"
"The teachers tried to talk to him, but it was like I was a stranger taking him away. In the end, he agreed to come with me when I said we were going home, but he misunderstood. When he realised we were going to my house, he started crying again." He looks down at the floor. "It took ages for him to stop. That’s why, when you came to pick him up, he was asleep—because he was exhausted from crying so much." Finally, he looks at you, tears in his eyes.
"Tommy."
"I did everything wrong. I tried to give my best, always, but it’s never enough. I wasn’t the best for you, and look what happened." He looks away. "And now my son doesn’t even want to stay with me."
"Hey, hey. Look at me." You gently place a hand on his arm. "Tom, this isn’t your fault. This is all new for both of us, just as it is for him."
"I should have fought harder for us," he murmured.
Gently, you place a hand on his face, pulling him closer. The two of you adjust on the sofa, settling into a position that feels both comfortable and familiar. Tom nestled in your arms, his head resting against your chest, just the way Ethan often does. One of his arms wraps tightly around your waist, holding you close, while your hand soothingly traces along his back.
As the two of you remain wrapped up in each other for an indeterminate amount of time, you try not to dwell on Tom’s words.
How different would things be if he hadn’t given up on trying? It’s not fair to place all the blame on him, but reflecting on past events, he was the first to show that he no longer had an interest in keeping the relationship alive.
During your time apart, you heard about Tom being involved with other women. But none of them were serious enough to be introduced to Ethan—or to you.
The sound of Tom’s phone ringing on the coffee table pulls you back to reality. When Tom doesn’t move to answer it, you lean forward, trying to see who’s calling. But as you do, Tom tightens his arms around you.
"It’s your mum."
"Let it ring."
"Aren’t they expecting you?" you ask, settling back into the sofa.
"I don’t think I have good news," he mutters.
Your hands find their way to his hair, gently massaging, offering comfort in the only way you know how at that moment.
The phone rings a few more times before the call drops, only to start again 20 seconds later.
"I think you should answer," you say, and he mutters something unintelligible. "I can talk to her if you want." Tom simply lets go of you, slumping back onto the sofa. You get up, pick up his phone, and walk into the kitchen before answering.
"Hi, Nikki."
"What? Who is this? Y/N?" she says, startled.
"Yes, it’s me."
"Did something happen, dear? Where’s Tom?"
"Um, we had a situation here, but don’t worry—it’s all fine now."
"Are you sure? How’s Ethan?" she asks nervously.
"He… well, he didn’t want to leave. We tried talking to him, but it didn’t help much. He eventually fell asleep."
"Oh, poor little thing," she says, sighing. "And you, my dear? How are you?"
"I…" Hearing the concern in her voice, your eyes well up with tears. "I don’t know what to do. Tom is heartbroken. Seeing them both like this hurts me so much, Nikki."
"Oh, sweetheart, I know it does. But you need to take care of yourself too, Y/N. Stop thinking you have to handle all of this on your own. I know what it’s like to raise a child, and I know Tom tries so hard to be part of it all, but after everything that happened… he’s distant."
"It’s been two years, Nikki. Why can’t we move past this?"
"Because there’s still love," she responds quickly. "I’ll never fully understand what happened between you two. Maybe the responsibility became too much, maybe you lost yourselves along the way. Focusing solely on the child became your priority, and you forgot to nurture that love. I don’t know."
"I don’t know either." "And you were so young when Ethan came along, Y/N. You both had to rewrite an entire life you had planned together, remember?" You sigh deeply at her words. "You wanted to graduate college together, start working, save enough to take a trip, just the two of you… there were so many plans, I can’t even list them all. If it wasn’t you telling me about them, it was Tom."
More tears streamed uncontrollably down your face, and you covered your mouth to stifle any sound, not wanting to alarm Tom in the living room. "I heard so much about you two…" She sighed as well. "And the truth is, you’re still young, learning something new every day. And now, you’re also teaching someone else—someone loving, intelligent, and full of so much heart. Ethan is made of both of you, my dear."
"I’m so afraid something will happen to him, Nikki. He’s so little, and I just… I can’t hurt him like this." "Y/N, you’re doing your best. Every time I see that boy, he shows me something new about his personality that surprises me so much. You’ve done an amazing job. But you also need to take care of yourself. And I’d be so happy if you allowed my son to help you in that process."
"Thank you, Nikki. That means a lot." "I’ll always be here for you. I’ll talk to everyone here about it and wait for Tom to let me know what we’re doing today, alright?"
"Alright. Thank you again."
"You’re welcome, dear." And with that, she hung up.
Without a second thought, you walk back into the living room. Tom is still in the same position, only lifting his head when he notices you standing in front of him. His gaze lands on your tear-streaked face and red eyes.
"What happened?" he asks, standing up and gently holding your face in his hands.
"Can you carry Ethan without waking him and take him to my room?" you ask, holding his wrists. He nods and lets his hands drop from your face before moving towards Ethan.
You make your way to your bedroom while Tom goes to fetch Ethan from his room. You pull down the blinds, dimming the light filtering into the space. Tom enters, carefully carrying Ethan, and places him in the centre of the bed.
Gently, you settle on the right side, straightening up before resting your head on the pillow. Tom stands there, unsure of what to do, watching you without reaction. Finally, you extend a hand toward him. He gets the message, takes off his shoes, and lies down on the side that used to be his when you shared this bed. You don’t let go of his hand for a second. Instead, you pull it closer, guiding it to wrap around Ethan’s small body nestled between you.
"I miss you so much," Tom whispered. A small smile appeared on your face.
"We’ll talk later, okay? For now, let’s just enjoy our little Bean."

How are you doing ? I was an idea for a series or one-shot for a Peter Parker x fem Stark reader. For a PDHPE assessment at Midtown High School, students are paired up with "fake" relationships assigned to them, with the intention of simulating real-life scenarios—however, one unsuspecting couple which is Peter and Y/n unexpectedly develops genuine feelings for each other, blurring the lines between what was supposed to be a mere exercise.
Hi! So, I’ll be honest, I had no idea what a PDHPE assessment was at first 😅 and had to do a little digging. Once I realized it was more of a fantasy-style prompt, it actually fit really well with a Stark!Reader storyline. Hope it’s close to what you imagined, and that you enjoyed watching Peter Parker fall head over heels for his assignment partner💙✨

You were already halfway checked out the moment your PDHPE teacher, Ms. Calder, wrote “Relationship Simulation Project” across the whiteboard in big Pink letters.
You blinked at it.
Peter, two rows over, tilted his head like a confused golden retriever.
And Flash whispered (loudly), “Is she seriously making us fake date? This is not what I signed up for when I chose PE over Drama.”
You leaned over to MJ, eyebrow raised. “What the hell kinda Black dimension lesson plan is this?”
Ms. Calder clapped her hands for attention like a chaotic game show host.
“Okay, class! So to explore interpersonal communication, compromise, and emotional regulation, you'll be paired up to simulate a romantic relationship for one week. Each pair will complete a daily journal, a conflict resolution worksheet, and plan a 'mock date' together. This is for assessment, people.”
A few groans echoed around the room. Peter Parker turned an impossible shade of red.
You muttered, “If I wanted forced intimacy, I’d go to another Stark family therapy session.”
“Names are being randomly chosen,” Ms. Calder went on. “No swaps, no trades, no take-backs. This is about working with people outside your comfort zone. Growth, people.”
You rolled your eyes. “Growth can kiss my a—”
“—nd our first pair is…” She glanced at her tablet. “Peter Parker and Y/N Stark.”
The silence was so loud you could hear the metaphorical record scratch.
You blinked once. Then twice.
Peter looked like he had stopped breathing. Fully frozen. His pen dropped out of his hand and rolled off the desk with a dramatic little clatter.
MJ snorted quietly beside you.
“Oh my God,” you said under your breath. “I’m going to fake date a human golden retriever.”
She elbowed you. “Didn’t you say you haven’t seen him since that mission briefing last week where he knocked over two mugs and called you ‘dude’ twice?”
“That was three mugs,” you muttered, “and he also called me ‘sir’ once by accident.”
Meanwhile, Peter was frantically gathering his things to come sit beside you. He bumped into the desk. Then the chair. Then his own knee.
You raised your hand as he awkwardly took the seat next to you.
“Quick question,” you said dryly. “Do I get hazard pay for babysitting a nervous breakdown?”
Ms. Calder smiled like she hadn’t heard you. “Try to treat this seriously, class. Think of it as a way to learn about yourself, and each other.”
You turned to Peter with a half-smirk. “So… boyfriend. Long time no see. Ready to fake love me for a grade?”
He coughed. Choked on his own spit. Literally.
“Y/n! I—uh—hi. Yeah. I mean. Sure. Girlfriend. Wow. Okay. This is fine. I’m fine.”
You leaned back in your chair. “You’re already sweating, Parker. This is gonna be fun.”
Peter just nodded, trying to look casual while dying inside.
You raised an eyebrow. “You're already short-circuiting and we haven't even started. You're lucky I'm used to tech malfunctions.”
Peter let out a laugh that was mostly panic. “Um. Yeah, fake dating. Cool. Fun.”
You tilted your head, amused. “Weird how I’ve seen you literally throw a bus across a street and this is what breaks you.”
He groaned softly. “Please don’t tell Mr. Stark I choked on my own spit when you said ‘boyfriend.’ ”
You smirked. “Depends. You plan on doing anything else embarrassing today?”
Peter looked genuinely concerned. “Should I say yes just to mentally prepare?”
You leaned back in your chair with a shrug. “Honestly? Yeah.”
Oh yeah. This was gonna be chaos.
----------
You told yourself it was still just an assignment.
Even when Peter brought you real flowers to your “mock date.”
Even when his hand lingered way too long during your “communication trust exercise.”
Even when he sent you goodnight texts that said “sleep well, Y/N :)” like it was just for homework.
You were a Stark. You didn’t catch feelings. Feelings caught you and then got yeeted into the sun.
At least, that’s what you told yourself until you were ten minutes into your second fake date, sitting side by side at the local boba place Peter picked, knees touching under the table and you realized:
Peter Parker was kind of… devastatingly sweet.
And kind. And funny. And soft. And awkward. And nervous in a way that was weirdly endearing, like he wanted to impress you but didn’t want you to know he wanted to impress you.
“You don’t have to hold my hand the whole time,” you teased, looking down where his fingers were wrapped gently around yours.
His ears turned bright red. “R-right! Sorry! I just—Ms. Calder said physical affection boosts realism and—uh—I can let go, I wasn’t trying to—”
You smirked and squeezed his hand. “I’m messing with you, Parker. Relax.”
“Oh,” he said, clearly short-circuiting again. “Cool. Haha. Relaxing. I am relaxed.”
He was not relaxed.
You tilted your head and studied him for a moment, your tone softening.
“You’re doing really well, y’know. You’re not half-bad at this fake boyfriend thing.”
His eyes flicked to yours, hopeful. “Really?”
“Yeah.” You smiled, surprised at how much you meant it. “Honestly… I think you’re kind of better than most real ones.”
He blushed so hard he nearly combusted.

DAY 4: Texting for the ‘assignment’
Peter: hey so i’m supposed to check in with my fake gf or i fail romantic communication
You: wow. tragic.
Peter: i know. pls answer this or i’ll have to write a poem about my emotional decay
You: ngl i kinda wanna see that
Peter: rude. i’m a sensitive artist.
You: ok ok. i had a good day. fake bf check-in: 8/10. could use more boba.
Peter: noted. fake gf deserves the world (and also extra boba)
You stared at your phone way too long after that one.
---
DAY 5: Jealousy hits like a truck.
You were walking out of class when Flash suddenly appeared like a gremlin summoned by drama.
“Hey Stark,” he grinned, draping an arm over your shoulders. “If this whole fake thing with Parker doesn’t work out, you know where to find me.”
You blinked at him. “The trash?”
Peter was a few steps behind you, arms crossed, clearly trying so hard not to look bothered.
When Flash strutted off, Peter mumbled, “You know, you really don’t have to flirt back just to keep it realistic…”
Your brow furrowed. “What?”
He froze. “N-nothing! I mean, it’s fine, I’m not mad! Or jealous. Or—uh—noticing. You can flirt with whoever. Because we’re fake. Haha. Totally fake.”
You raised an eyebrow. “You good, Webs?”
He rubbed the back of his neck. “Y-yeah. Totally. Just… don’t date Flash. Even fake-dating Flash would be a crime against humanity.”
You laughed. But something weird and warm fluttered in your chest.
---
Later, you were walking together toward the compound’s garage when he offhandedly said,
“I used to have this thing for Liz, but that feels like… forever ago.”
You nodded casually, but your smile dropped half a centimeter.
Used to. Past tense. Cool. Why did that sting?
“...She’s not you though,” Peter added quickly, without even looking at you.
You stopped walking.
“What?”
He blinked. “What?”
You squinted at him. “Did you just compare me with her?”
Peter turned crimson. “NO I—well—I mean yes? B-but I didn’t mean it like that, I just—I mean you’re—you’re you, and she was—wasn’t.”
You stared at him for a second. “That was maybe the dumbest sentence I’ve ever heard.”
He buried his face in his hands. “I deserve that.”
You smirked. “Yeah. But… thanks. I think? ”
You kept walking, but now your heart was doing that stupid flutter thing and you had to pretend you weren’t smiling like an idiot.
----------
Final day of the project.
You sat in the back row of PDHPE, arms crossed, watching another pair present their “reflection” with forced smiles and robotic delivery. You and Peter were up next.
Your brain was not focused on the assignment. It was spinning with the emotional chaos of the past week, the “practice” holding hands, the late-night texts, the jealousy, the way Peter looked at you like you were the only person on the planet.
Which, rude, because he wasn’t supposed to make you feel like this.
Feelings? For Peter Parker?? That was so not in your schedule.
You cleared your throat. Time to deploy your defense mechanism: Sarcasm, Stark-style.
“You ready, Fake Boyfriend?” You whispered, elbowing him.
Peter looked nervous but smiley. “Only if you’re ready, Fake Girlfriend.”
God, he had the audacity to look at you with those soft brown eyes and mean it.
You rolled your eyes. “Let’s get this cringe-fest over with.”
---
The two of you stood in front of the class. Your slideshow behind you was mostly Peter’s doing, because let’s be honest, you were good at many things, but formatting Google Slides without adding memes of your dad or the Avengers in pajama pants was not one of them.
Peter started off with the basic summary:
“Over the last seven days, we explored different aspects of relationship-building like communication, empathy, and conflict resolution—”
You cut in, deadpan:
“—And somehow didn’t kill each other. A modern miracle.”
Everyone laughed. Peter blushed. You smirked.
Then came the reflection part.
Peter shifted awkwardly. “Um. So. Personally… I learned that sometimes, pretending something is real can accidentally, maybe, kinda… feel real.”
Your heart skipped a beat. You glanced sideways. He wasn’t looking at the class. He was looking right at you.
You blinked and whispered, “Is that in the notes, or are you just going off-script?”
He shrugged, nervous smile tugging at his lips. “Off-script.”
Your heartbeat was not listening to you anymore.
You turned back to the class with a too-casual shrug. “Well. I learned that boys who bring you boba and blush a lot might actually be tolerable.”
More laughter. But your voice cracked a bit, just at the end.
---
After class.
You bolted down the hallway, trying to collect your thoughts, only to hear sneakers skidding behind you.
“Y/N—wait, hey—can we talk for a second?”
You turned, arms folded, doing your best impression of Not A Girl With Feelings.
“About what? Our fake relationship? Or the part where you made it all confusing by being, like… weirdly sweet and real boyfriend-y and—ugh—nice?”
Peter blinked. “You thought I was sweet?”
“Don’t push it.”
He stepped closer, looking a little breathless. “Okay. I know we were supposed to be pretending. But I wasn’t pretending when I said it felt real. Because… it did. You feel real.”
You stared at him. “That doesn’t even make sense.”
He swallowed. “I mean… you’re always sarcastic and you act like nothing phases you. But I see you. You take care of people. You remember the tiny stuff. You roll your eyes, but you never walk away.”
Your wall cracked, just a little. “That’s......dumb. You’re dumb.”
Peter laughed, a little shy. “I know. But I like you anyway.”
You blinked, heartbeat absolutely feral now. “You do?”
“I-I do.”
He stepped a little closer. His voice lowered, nervous and hopeful.
“Can I kiss you? Like… for real?”
You bit your lip. “For the assignment?”
He smiled. “No. For me.”
You hesitated for a breath. Then whispered, “Okay. But just so you know… It's my first kiss but I'll still grade harshly.”
He leaned in. Gentle. Warm. Soft like a secret.
And fireworks. Literal brain static. You barely registered the way your hand reached up and grabbed his hoodie to pull him a little closer, just to be sure this was real.
When you pulled back, both of you were blushing messes.
Peter grinned. “So… real boyfriend now?”
You smirked. “Guess so, Parker. Don’t screw it up.”
-----------
Peter didn’t think the day would end like this.
Standing in the Tower kitchen. Shirt slightly wrinkled. Lips slightly swollen. Heart? Absolutely sprinting.
You were sitting on a stool across the island, trying (and failing) to hide your smirk behind a mug of tea. Because, well… your dad had entered the chat.
And he did not look thrilled.
Tony Stark stood there, arms folded, brows raised in that very I’m not mad, just… disappointed. And maybe preparing to nuke your soul kind of way.
“I thought,” Tony said slowly, “this whole ‘pretend boyfriend’ thing was for an assignment. You know. Educational purposes. Graded participation. Harmless simulation.”
Peter swallowed. “It—uh. It was. Originally. I swear.”
Tony raised one brow like he was about to pull up a PowerPoint labeled LIES.
“So when exactly,” he asked, voice dangerously calm, “did this turn into my daughter shoving her tongue down your throat on my security footage?”
You choked on your tea. Peter looked like he might faint.
“Mr. Stark, I swear, it wasn’t—like—planned, I didn’t mean to—”
“Didn’t mean to what? Fall head-over-webs for Stark Baby #1? Accidentally catch feelings during a state-mandated fake dating project? Grow up, Parker. That’s literally the plot of every romcom ever.”
Peter blinked. “So… you’re not mad?”
“Oh, I’m mad,” Tony said, sipping his espresso. “I’m furious. Because I trusted you to be an awkward little nerd with no game. And here you are. Pulling moves.”
You leaned forward, grinning. “Dad. Chill. It’s not that deep.”
Tony narrowed his eyes. “Y/N, sweetheart, I love you. I do. But you have the worst taste. First you had a crush on Draco Malfoy when you were ten, and now this—”
“Draco was misunderstood!” You snapped.
“Yeah, well so is Parker,” Tony said, glaring at him. “Misunderstood until he’s grounded for life.”
Peter looked pale. “Am I grounded?”
“You? ” Tony snorted. “Kid, you’re not even my kid. I can’t ground you. I can just… make your life extremely inconvenient.”
You laughed. “He’s bluffing.”
“I invented bluffing,” Tony said.
Peter raised his hands, sheepish. “Look—I know this is… not ideal. But I like her. A lot. And I promise I’ll never hurt her. I mean that.”
Tony stared at him for a long, quiet moment.
Then he sighed. “Great. Now I gotta threaten a teenager with a vibranium wrench. Happy Tuesday.”
You jumped off the stool and kissed Tony on the cheek. “Love you, Dad.”
“Uh-huh. We’ll see how much when your monthly allowance suddenly evaporates.”
Peter grinned nervously. “Mr. Stark, sir? Please don’t evaporate anything. Especially..... me.”
Tony gave him a long, thoughtful look.
Then—
“Alright. Fine. Just… no funny business under my roof. And if I see you sneaking into her room again, I’m replacing your web-shooters with electric hand belts.”
Peter turned white. “Y-Yes sir.”
You blinked at Tony, all wide-eyed innocence. “Define ‘funny business,’ exactly?”
Tony groaned into his espresso.

Extra: Stark Baby Got A Boyfriend
You weren’t trying to cause a scene. You really weren’t.
But you were also very much not sorry that Peter Parker—newly promoted boyfriend and your favorite fake-to-real love story—was kissing you like the world didn’t exist.
Right in front of your locker.
At 8:02 a.m.
On a Wednesday.
You were the one who pulled him in, hands in his hoodie, heart in your throat.
He stiffened for half a second, then melted. Melted like butter. His hands found your waist, hesitant but warm, and he kissed you back like he’d been waiting his whole life for it.
Your fingers curled into the front of his hoodie as he leaned in, lips warm, kiss a little messy and rushed, like he was still getting used to the whole "dating a Stark" thing.
Which, let’s be honest—he was.
And then:
“UH—EXCUSE ME??”
You both jerked apart.
Cue MJ, coffee in hand, eyes wide like she just saw a UFO.
And Ned, frozen mid-step, mouth open, brain totally buffering.
They stood there like they’d accidentally stumbled onto the craziest scene in the universe.
“You guys are—? Since when are you—??” Ned flailed his arms, “I knew something was up during that mock conflict resolution session!”
MJ pointed dramatically. “You rolled your eyes at him too affectionately. That’s how I knew.”
Peter scratched the back of his neck, sheepish. “It’s… recent?”
“Understatement,” you muttered, smirking. “About sixteen hours recent.”
“Wha—?!” Ned shrieked. “I’ve been manifesting this since sophomore year and I still didn’t see it coming?!”
Peter chuckled, pulling you closer by the waist. “I think it surprised us too.”
And then, as if summoned by Devil himself—
FLASH THOMPSON WALKED BY.
He froze mid-strut.
Blink.
Blink blink.
Error 404: Brain not found.
You could hear his brain combusting.
“WAIT. WAIT. WHAT—WHAT IS HAPPENING—” Flash pointed. “YOU’RE—SHE’S—PARKER?! YOU’RE DATING Y/N STARK?!”
Peter blinked. “Uh. Yeah?”
Flash did a double take so violent he almost tripped over his own Air Jordans. “WHAT DIMENSION IS THIS. WHAT DO YOU MEAN PENIS PARKER GOT THE STARK HEIRESS??”
You tilted your head sweetly. “Aw, Flash. You jealous?”
He sputtered. “Of—of him?! No way, I just—like—seriously?! You’re a Stark! You could date anyone! You could date, like, a Hemsworth or someone!”
You shrugged. “Yeah, but Peter actually knows how to use a brain cell. And, y’know, he doesn’t speak in protein shakes.”
Ned wheezed. MJ snorted her coffee.
Peter was still red in the face, but the smile he gave you?
Yeah, worth every second of hallway gossip.
Flash, meanwhile, walked off muttering to himself like an NPC in total glitch mode.

Ao3 Chapter 2 Chapter 3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
May 2023
Peter has known her for as long as he’s known anything.
Back before his parents died, they had been prominent members of the Oscorp Foundation. They worked directly with Norman, and so Peter grew up spending a lot of his time with Harry Osborn. Occasionally, though, there would be a collaboration between Oscorp and their largest competitor, Stark Industries. With S.I. came Tony Stark, and with Tony came his daughter.
She was about a year younger than him and Harry but she held her own just fine. She was smart as a whip and full of fire.
He’d been in love with her for longer than he knew what love was.
They had taken such a liking to each other that Tony made the effort to get them together as often as possible. Eventually, moving them to New York full-time after Peter’s parents died. Tony made an effort to keep up the relationship even then. He did it for his daughter; she’d become so attached to Peter. And he had done the same.
The sun rose and set with Y/N Stark as far as he was concerned.
The bond between them grew as they did. They became halves of the same whole. One rarely without the other. He held her when she sobbed, broken and exhausted, after spending the court-ordered time with her mother. She calmed his overloads after he was bit. They knew each other instinctually. Better than they knew themselves in some ways.
And yet, there was never anything romantic.
Until there was.
They both knew. When they’d grown old enough to understand what love, marriage, and dating were, they knew it was inevitable. That there was no Peter without y/n.
And that is a very daunting thing to face at such a young age.
And they understood that there would be no going back once they crossed that line.
They knew they would cross it eventually.
But they had all the time in the world to cross it. And now, when they were so perfect as friends, neither wanted to risk what they had.
And so they didn’t.
There was flirtation that couldn’t be helped. There were touches that toed the line between platonic and romantic, touches that lingered. Nights where they would fall asleep next to each other and wake up in a state where you couldn’t tell where one started and the other ended.
But it never went further.
Until it did
They were good kids, really. Good students, excelling in their studies, involving themselves in extracurriculars, making a difference in their community. They were good avengers as well. They weren’t officially on the team, certainly were never put in harms way. But Tony allowed them to patrol the city in the evenings, and to train with the team at the compound on the weekends. They excelled there too.
But everyone has times when they just need a break.
It happened the first time during one of those breaks
.
They had finished midterms, Natasha had been kicking their asses in training for the last month, they were tired.
And so they snuck into the hangar and hacked one of the jets. Because she could override her father’s protocols without even blinking. Spain. She had wanted to go to Spain. He’d remembered her talking about it, so he puts in the coordinates and settles in for the ride.
They’ve shared a room, a bed, countless times at this point and yet somehow this is different. Somehow this leads to their mouths on each other and their virginities lost to each other.
Things change after that.
It takes a while for them to get over it. To admit “I want you” and “I always have” and “I don’t want to wait anymore”. But once they do, once they allow those walls to be broken down they are inseparable.
The funniest thing about the whole ridiculous situation is their behaviour barely changes.
They simply kiss now. Because they already spent nights in the others bed, they already were always touching the other somehow, they already could read the others mind and anticipate their needs. So at school, no one noticed they were dating until Peter gave her a quick kiss before running off to some sort of internship activity.
Its been years now. They are perfect. Ideal. He loves her with everything in him.
And that’s why, when the invasion starts, he webs her to the bed so she can’t follow after him as he goes toward the battle.
Why he goes to the battle despite her screams, her begging, her pleading. Why his last words as he disintegrates in Tony’s arms, after pleading whispers of “I don’t want to go” are “I don’t want to leave her.”
He spends five years living a life with no memory of his previous one. No memory of her, of Tony, of Spiderman.
When the dust finally settles after that final battle, he’s the one screaming, begging pleading. Because his girl, his brilliant, beautiful, reckless girl, simply refused to let her father die.
She’s always had them. The powers, the enhancements, that were so graciously forced upon her by her mother.
She hated them, hated why she ended up with them. But they gave her the ability to save Tony’s life, despite it being at nearly at the cost of her own.
He’s held back, not sure by whom. He hears Steve yell for assistance to get them both off the battle field and to get them immediate medical assistance.
Her powers are…complicated.
Her ability to heal is incredible. Whether it be herself or others. But it comes at a cost.
Healing takes energy. She’s able to choose, when healing injuries, whether to use the injured person’s energy or her own. The severity of the wound would usually influence her decision.
She was comfortable using someone else’s energy for smaller things, scrapes, bruises, most of Peter’s injuries because of his own accelerated healing. But bigger things…she would use her own “Because I heal better” she would say.
Like after he’d taken the weight of a building their sophomore year, she’d used her own energy to heal that. He watched the colour drain from her face, watched slashes and bruises come and go across her skin, watched her exhaust herself right in front of him as the pain eased from his body.
After a fight like this neither had the energy to heal something as severe as this. But she did it anyway.
She does heal better. Quicker, more efficiently. It’s hard to leave any kind of mark on her because her body just rids itself of it.
So she lay in a hospital bed, half dead, as her body begins to repair what should be fatal.
Tony was exhausted, on the brink of death, he’d had nothing left to use up. She herself had been spent. So she took, and she gave. She gave what little energy she had left to Tony and took as much pain and damage from him as she could. Took as much as she could until her body gave out.
Tony woke later that night. Exhausted. Badly scarred. Weaker than Peter had ever seen him.
But alive.
Peter is sitting at her bedside now, holding her hand in his. Needing to feel that it’s warm, needing physical proof that she’s alive. He’s fading in and out of consciousness. Fighting sleep because he can’t risk something happening while he’s asleep. It would be a restless, nightmare filled sleep anyway.
“Tony, we shouldn’t be arguing about this; you’re exhausted; you need to rest. We can talk about this la-“ He can hear Steve’s voice in the next room.
“We’re talking about this now.” Tony responds.
Peter, even with his heightened senses, can barely hear him. He tries to tune them out, focusing instead on her heartbeat. A comforting, familiar sound that lulls him into a sense of security.
But the next words he hears make his blood run cold, and his head snap up.
“He’s my grandson. He’s likely scared. He can’t have his mother, so let me see him.” Tony sounds angry despite his severely weakened state.
“Tony…” Steve says gently. “Look at yourself. You’ll only scare him more. He’s my grandson too. Let me look after him.”
Peter takes a moment.
Grandson.
Tony has no biological children other than y/n. There is Harley…a boy Peter’s age that Tony had taken in when they were thirteen. They’d been fast friends. And…maybe Harley could have had a child in the five years Peter had been gone…except he’d been in the same place as Harley for the last five years, and there was no child.
So…so that must mean that y/n had…that she’d had a child.
Sometime in the last five years she’d moved on…gotten pregnant…had a baby? He shakes his head, his chest aches. His feet move before he’s fully aware of it. He walks into Tony’s room. He stands there silently, until Steve notices him.
“Peter.” He whispers, a sigh in his voice.
Peter laughs weakly, tears on his cheeks that have no right to be there. It had been five years, he had no right to have expected her to wait five years. “I um…” He clears his throat, sniffing. “I didn’t mean to eavesdrop…it’s just so quiet here.” He says quietly.
“Kid ther-“ Tony starts but Peter holds up a hand.
“Don’t…don’t. It’s okay. You don’t need to defend…just…if there’s a way I can help? I could call his father, if someone hasn’t already or…or go pick up anything that he might need…or…or I can fuck off if you think that would be bett-“
“Peter.” Tony says as firmly as he’s capable of. Peter looks up. “Come sit. We need to talk.” He says, gentler now.
He’s four. His name is Ben. He’s with Happy. They won’t let him run to him. He’s four. His name is Ben. He’s with Happy. He can’t go to him. He’s four. His name is Ben. He’s safe with Happy. He’s safe. His name is Ben. He’s four. He’s Peter’s.
She had been pregnant.
It had been early.
So early that it had been months before she even realised. Half of the universe disappeared, Peter included.
And months later she had given birth to their son.
Their son.
Ben.

Only you ~ Harrison Osterfield
pairing: harrison osterfield x female reader
warning: swearing, crying, anxiety
summary: you had a really bad day and your boyfriend is there for you
word count: 1,4k
Tumblr media
It simply wasn’t your day. Your alarm clock didn't ring on time, so you overslept. You forgot to dry your hair before you went to bed and it was sticking out in every possible direction, so you had to straighten it and you burned yourself. You were late for work, your computer broke, just when you needed to print some important documents for the meeting that was in the next ten minutes. When you were going home you got stuck in traffic and it took you almost an hour to get to your flat. You didn't have time to eat lunch or drink your tea, so you had a completely empty stomach all day, forgot to do the groceries, and finally, while going up the stairs to the fourth floor (the lift turned out to be broken), you fell, bruised your knees and hands and broke the heel of your favorites shoes.
When you finally got home your already bad mood got even worse. The mess you'd left in the morning was bigger than you had remembered, and there was complete silence inside, which meant Harrison, your boyfriend of four years, wasn’t home yet.
Usually you kept things in check. You were the one in charge in your relationship, you were always the one who had everything under control. Especially your emotions. Sure, you loved to share your emotions with your loved ones and cry during movies, but when it came to dealing with adulthood, you had the power.
Usually, but today wasn’t that day. Today you were tired, and everything that could possibly go wrong went exactly like that. Normally you would just ignore it and get on with the things you had to do, but today wasn't normal. Today you were too nervous and frustrated and so damn tired you couldn't keep it cool. Tears began to gather in your eyes as you removed your worn shoes and coat. When you entered the bedroom and threw yourself on the bed, you felt a little better. The smell of your favorite fabric softener, blend of both of your perfumes, and what you could only describe as Harrison's scent soothed your nerves a little.
When Haz came home some time later, he faced a complete silence and a mess he had made before he left. He was surprised that you hadn't cleaned it up when you got home from work. Not because he thought it was your duty as a woman to do the housework, but because he knew your pedantic nature and knew you would clean it up in a second if you were home or you just wouldn't be able to go on with your day if the flat was untidy. Yet Harrison was glad that this time he could do some of the chores and took that responsibility from you.
About ten minutes later, your flat looked like your flat again, and the groceries were put in the right cupboards and then he finally headed to the bedroom to put his phone to the charger. He saw you lying under the pile blanket and heard your soft sobs. He immediately sat down on the edge of the bed, stroking your shoulder.
‘Hi, love.’ When you did not react to his words he put his hand on the small of your back. ‘Come here.’
There was silence for a moment, broken only by your sniffling. Harrison didn't want to overwhelm you, so he waited for any reaction from you, the slightest gesture that would give him permission to approach you. After a minute, however, you came out from under the blanket and climbed onto his lap. Haz wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you closer to him.
‘Do you want to tell me what happened?’ In response, you just hid your face in the crook of his neck, and you just sat there for a while. Harrison was worried sick about what might have happened to affect your mood so much, as you slowly calmed down in his warmth, still crying silently. ‘Shhh, you're safe, I won't leave you. Come on, darling.’
Harrison stared at your tiny body resting on his lap and noticed goose bumps on your skin. He took the blanket that was abandoned on the bed long ago, but you pushed his hand away. He looked at you in surprise.
‘I don't want a blanket.’ You croaked. ‘May I have your hoodie?’
Harrison tossed his head back, laughing, but either way taking off the mint hoodie he was wearing. You smiled gracefully as you settled more comfortably on his lap. The truth was, Harrison's clothes were kinda therapeutic for you. You weren't sure if it was because they were more comfortable than yours, or because they always smelled like his perfume, but they were just so soothing for you.
‘Have you eaten today?’ You shook your head as no. ‘So? Chicken with rice? From Sam's recipe?’
‘Yes, please.’ Haz laughed, getting up from the bed and walking towards the kitchen with you still in his arms. You wanted to help in preparing dinner, but he told you to sit at the kitchen island and handed you a mug of warm tea with milk. ‘Thank you darling. For everything.’
Harrison smiled warmly and kissed your forehead. When dinner was cooking your mood started to improve and you weren’t as devastated as you were when you came home. Now that you both were in a much better mood, you were dancing and singing to some random Spotify playlist.
After dinner, you both decided to get some rest, even if only for a moment. It had been a tough day for you, and now that your stomach was full and all the tension left your body, all you could think of was a nap in your boyfriend's loving arms. Haz lay down on the bed after taking off his t-shirt and changing his jeans to causal gray sweats. He wasn't sleepy, but he wanted to give you a sense of comfort, so he covered you with a blanket and lay down on his back, going on his Instagram.
‘Haz?’
‘Hm?’ You looked at him and stretched out your arms towards him. He laughed, pulling you against his chest. ‘Get some sleep, love.’
Moments after that, you were sleeping peacefully in his arms. Harrison lay still to not wake you up as you were the lighter sleeper in the world and he only looked at you with a lovesick smile. No one was aware of how much he fucking loved you. He always knew that, but today’s events, your daily routine, you both getting up, getting ready for work together, having breakfast tea together, knowing that you felt safe in his arms, that he simply was happy with you, made him realize that he wanted to marry you, that he wanted you to be his happily ever after.
‘What are you thinking about?’ Harrison jumped slightly at the sound of your voice.
‘Marry me.’
‘What?’
‘I may not have another chance and the courage to say that. Y/N, you are the most important person in my whole life, you make me happier every day. You are the most beautiful woman in the world. Inside and out. I want to have you by my side forever, I want to start a family with you, have children with you, grow old with yoy. Therefore, marry me.’
You laughed at the mixture of joy, surprise and affection.
‘You shouldn't be laughing! God, I'm so embarrassed right now. I made a fool of myself, didn't I?’ You looked into Harrison's eyes, which had shed with tears.
‘No, Haz, no. Of course you didn't make a fool of yourself. I want to be your wife, I want to have children with you, I want to spend my whole life by your side.’ Harrison put his hands on your cheeks, drawing you to his lips. The kiss didn’t last long but showed all the love and joy you both felt. The kiss was sweet of the coconut balm on your lips, but also salty with your tears.
‘I love you, Y/N. Most in the world. I know this isn’t the proposal you deserve, I don't even have a ring, but I love you and I want you to know that.’
‘I don't need a ring or any romantic gestures. You're all I need. Only you.’

Ok but like imagine if he weaponized it.
Like when up to villains and said “you’re my dad now.”
Before the villian can even deny it, the effect takes hold and they spontaneously combust in the middle of the street no warning.
Honestly I feel like this is an untapped market.
“The Uncle Ben Effect” - The principle that dictates any parental figure of Peter Parker will undoubtedly croak. (likely in front of him)
Richard and Mary? Dead.
Uncle Ben and Aunt May? Dead.
Tony Stark? Dead.
Fucking Quentin Beck who only PRETENDED to care about Peter in order to steal and try to kill him. Within days the man was in the ground.
Jesus Christ can this child have a family PLEASE!

"My everything." Daryl Dixon Imagine.
Tumblr media
(Not my gif!)
A sleepless night after your and Daryl's baby was born.
A/N: Just a cheesy imagine hehe sometimes I like to imagine a soft dad!Daryl. I wrote this imagine for my Tom Holland page, so if you ever find it, you know why. Sorry if you see any grammatical errors. Hope you like it! Thank u.
Tumblr media
Marley Rose Dixon was one month old now.
She was born in a warm room full of candles, in a blissful and foggy night in which the world of her mother and father was painted with beautiful colors again after walking in a grey world for so long, announcing her arrival with a loud cry that showed her freedom and her desire to live until the doctor (luckily, there was a few in Alexandria) placed her on your chest for the first time.
Marley was named after Daryl's older brother, and you didn't mind because despite everything, you knew how much he loved his brother. At first, the news wasn't easy for either of you two to take in (the option of abortion was considered at length), but the thought of a baby gave you both the hope that something better and more beautiful could come, too. And boy, it did.
Right there, the moment she was born, her blue eyes — identical to her father's — sparkled with the glow of two small diamonds, treasures hidden behind her long lashes from the first time she opened her eyes and gazed, serenely, at her parents, and the new world around her, a better world you two were trying to build for her.
But from that moment on, she cried, cried and cried from time to time.
At 2:54 am, Alexandria is submerged in a cozy dream far from the fear and death, unlike you, and it seems unreachable for you as you walk through your dark room taking soft steps and soft bounces, holding in your arms a small human being created from a great love and blah, blah, blah, other nonsense things you used to believe before being deprived of such a necessary resource, for your sanity and mental health (you didn't sleep much before her, and Daryl even less, but still). But you chuckle, numb from lack of sleep, tired, but at peace with yourself as her little head lies on your right arm and your left hand gently caresses her back, wrapped comfortably in a white blanket with pictures of little elephants, just like the pillow in the shape of the same animal that Uncle Rick found for her during a run.
You love her, you are crazy about her, even if days became difficult and nights were exhausting, (even with the monumental help Carol and the rest of the family gave you), but all the reward is in being able to hold her in your arms, warm and safe. Daryl calls her his angel, his princess, and at the time, it is an appropriate nickname for someone who cries to make her demands heard.
You chuckle, again.
"Is she tellin’ ya a good joke?" Daryl walks into the room, holding a bottle of warm milk in his hand.
You and Carol taught him how to do it, and now, he is an expert. His brown hair is tousled, but it usually is so no one could tell the difference, eyes tired from lack of sleep, shirtless and in gray loose sweatpants he refused to wear at first.
“15 minutes to make the milk? I was starting to get worried actually." You raise an eyebrow, speaking softly. "Why did you take so long? The milk is in the kitchen, not in another country."
"Sorry, sweetheart." Daryl apologizes as he hands you the bottle, sitting on the edge of the bed to watch his daughter stop crying the moment she feels the bottle against her pretty pink lips. "I closed ma eyes and jus' fell asleep for a minute."
You frown, continuing to stroke Marley's back.
"In a chair? On the counter?"
At the sound of your voice, Daryl's head falls until he almost hits his chest with his own chin, waking up from his light sleep before looking back at you. It's still funny to you how easy it was for him to go without sleep all those years, but after a month with Marley, Daryl considered killing walkers an easier task.
"What? No. Standin’. Didn't know that was even possible."
You shake your head gently, looking away to your baby who is enjoying a meal at 3 in the morning, resting peacefully, just like a princess, in your arms with eyes closed, body relaxed, arms outstretched to pretend to hold the bottle in your hand.
“Even dad can get a nap; you sleep whenever you feel like it… so, where is mom's nap? I mean, I've slept an hour every night since you were born, the room is a mess like us, and my breasts hurt too much."
Daryl chuckles.
"Can't help ya with that, peach. In fact, I think that's exactly what got us into this mess."
"What?"
"Yer boobs." Daryl babbles, smiling wearily, eyes closed as he falls against the edge of the bed, only to stop holding his own weight when he can no longer bear it. “Yer incredible, amazing boobs. They’re amazing and I love ‘em so much, but they were the temptation that brought us… this beautiful gift."
You shrug your shoulders, agreeing with him.
"They are amazing, and she is beautiful when she doesn't cry.”
"That's when I love ‘er the most." Daryl answers, and a second later, you both chuckle in unison.
“Although, it was kind of your fault for wanting to do it without a condom, you horny bastard.”
Daryl chuckles, and because he wasn't used to doing that before you, that tiny sound is endearing.
“Ya regret it?”
"Never." You say with confidence, because you know that he did not regret the decision either. But you laugh quietly, after a while. “But… you know what I was thinking?”
“Um?”
“That this would be a good time to save money so she can go to a good college.” You joke. But Daryl wasn't used to making jokes, so with the help of the moonlight coming through the window, fighting the darkness of the room, he raises himself slightly to look you in the eyes, his brow slightly furrowed. “Jesus, I’m just kidding.”
Daryl chuckles, falling on the bed again, one arm over his eyes.
“Ya think is a good idea if we teach her how to kill walkers when she gets older? Marley could be the new lil’ ass kicker.”
You smile to yourself, because for some reason, your daughter's name on his lips is like sweet honey. And, although you wanted to protect her from that world, the rules had changed, and in order to survive, she was going to have to learn to take care of herself too. Fortunately, it is still too early to think about that.
So, asleep again, you leave Marley in her crib near the bed before returning to it, laying down next to Daryl as he rolls over onto his left side, taking advantage of the time that you still have until the baby wakes up again, just to repeat the cycle you have been living in since Marley was born.
But life still feels good despite the fatigue and the occasional physical pain, because she was everything you never imagined you could have, not in that world, and she, more beautiful than you had ever dreamed of during the wait.
"Thanks, peach." Daryl whispers, so close to you that you can feel his nose against yours, his hand caressing your waist over your shirt, but you're so tired that it takes you a few seconds to gather your strength to respond.
"Why?"
"For our baby, for lovin’ me, for givin’ me a home. Ya two are ma everythin'."
You smiled, sighing.
"You're welcome, love. We are very, very lucky to have you." You say, taking a breath to answer as you look at him: eyes closed, body finally relaxed after having her on his chest most of the day. He is a good dad, the best. "But still, the next turn is yours alone."
Daryl, amused, looks blindly for the warmth of your body to pull you against him, tickling you slightly and that have you both smiling softly despite the absolute exhaustion, a few seconds before you both can fall into a deep sleep, finally.

Jack Harlow x Reader : THAT’S DADDY
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Okay Mia.” You start, sitting back trying to get comfortable. “I’m going to show you a picture and you tell me who they are. You’ve met them all before so this will be easy.”
Mia nods, “Ohh okay, is this like that tiktok video my cousin did?”
“Yehp.” You smile and set up the phone to record her and then grab your iPad to show her pictures.
“Let’s start easy.” You say smiling. “Who’s this?”
Mia rolls her little eyes, “That’s daddy.”
Jack then throws a gaze at you two from his spot across the room. “Well don’t sound too excited there bug.”
Mia chuckles, “Sorry.”
You start showing her different pictures, to which she would get some correct and some wrong.
“Ohhh, who’s this?” You show her the screen and smile at her reaction.
“That’s my boyfriend.” She shrugs.
You gasp, “Mia, stop calling Tom Holland your boyfriend.”
She shrugs, “Z let’s me call him that.”
Jack is shaking his head, “You need to have crushes on boys your own age, actually never mind.”
Mia leans her head on your shoulder, waiting for the next set of pictures.
“That’s Nino Urby.” She laughs. “He looks silly with that hat.”
“Alright who’s this?”
Mia gasps, “Daddy.”
You shake your head and show her more pictures.
“Daddy again.”
“Mia.” You start laughing. “Alright these last two.”
Mia takes in a deep breath in admiration and awe. “My daddy.”
“Wow.” Jack says, “Are you showing her different pictures of me throughout the years or what?”
You snort and shake your head. “Nope.”
He raises his eyebrows and starts heading to where you and Mia are seated. “Then what pictures did you show her?”
“You really want to know?” You ask him.
Mia gasps and takes the iPad away from you. “NOO HE CAN’T.” And she runs away.
“Uh-what is going on?”
You shrug, “You’ll see when I post the video.”
*************
After dinner, you had posted the video but didn’t mention it to Jack.
You were doing your final rounds around the house, cleaning up when Jack storms inside your shared bedroom.
He shows you his phone “SHE CALLED MICHAEL B JORDAN, PESO PLUMA AND MC STEAMY DADDY?!!!!”
You laugh, “That’s all her.”
“Nooo, that’s definitely you. Are you lying to my child?” He asks grumpy.
“Babe, it’s just her messing with you.”
He raises his eyebrows “So she doesn’t hear you say anything while you’re watching your hospital show?”
You shrug and look behind him at the little trouble maker. “Mia, get your butt over here and tell daddy you were playing.”
Mia crossed her arms, “Bout’ what?” She looks at Jack’s phone in his hands. “Oh about all my different daddys?”
Jack groans “BABE.”
You laugh, “okay, okay, I see where that could be an issue.”
Mia laughs, “I’m just playing.” She goes and hugs her dads legs. “You get jelly fast.”
Jack picks her up and bops her nose. “You raise my blood pressure at just 8 years old, imagine when you’re a teen.”
Mia smiles, “You love me though.”
“That I do my baby, that I do.” Jack gives her a kiss on the cheek and they make their way to your bed.
“So are we watching my husband? Or my other husband? I have options.” You say, following after them.
Jack glares at you, but Mia shakes her head. “How bout we watch daddy’s other wife?”
You gasp, “Oh she did not.”
Jack smirks, “That’s my daughter.” As he high fives her and looks for something to watch.

I'm so unexcited for the Christopher Nolan Odyssey Film.
There's so many things I'm just dreading, like as a mythology buff (admittedly, not an expert, just a bit of a special interest), I'm gonna lose it if a film guy starts mansplaining about Homeric hymns to me. Like, keep talking about how the suitors were actually doing what was right for the time and I will kick you in your shriveled nutsack.
I also saw the cast list and nearly shed a tear. They all have fucking iPhone face. I'm sorry, Tom Holland as Telemachus (potentially)???? Like, oh it's so sad your dad is missing and stuff, but did you remember to take your ozempic today? Like all the cast have iPhone face. Unless this is gonna be a weird modern retelling (which also worries me), I won't be able to imagine Zendaya as Athena (potentially) without her whipping out a Google pixel to text Zeus.
I was talking to people and we ended up making our own cast list of some of the major roles.
Cast List
Odysseus - Antonia Banderas
My mother saw him in Paddington 3 and has instructed me to include him as he is, in her words, "fit". In my opinion, someone like Liam Neeson, Mads Mikelson or Michael Fassbender. I just don't want a poorly disguised American accent. Like I get you might not get a Greek actor or even one with a similar accent, but please not a straight American accent or badly done accent.
Penelope - Michelle Yeoh
Nolan is rumoured to have cast Anne Hathaway, which I am also kind of fine with, so I'm not too worried about that. I think Michelle would be great as a cunning, loyal wife to Odysseus and I also think she could channel a great amount of contempt towards the suitors. I never find Anne Hathaway to be convincingly angry in scenes, distraught and afraid, yes, but I think Michelle could really embody that disgust Penelope has.
Athena - Cate Blanchet
I think Athena needs to be played by an older actor. I get the Gods are ageless, but she needs to give the appearance of wisdom and I think Cate Blanchet always looks like she's planning and thinking. The issue with Zendaya is not just that she has iPhone face, but she is too young. Your mind immediately says that she's too young to be that wise. It's a trait commonly associated with older people as it relates to experience, and Zendaya just doesn't look experienced.
Poiseiden - Gerard Butler
Hear me out, I think the Gods (other than Athena) should only appear in voice and not in person. For the scale of things, an actor floating in the air with cgi waves doesn't really look that menacing in the scale of things, especially compared to 50 boats. And I don't want a big cgi water monster thing either. I think the voice should carry on the waves, a shout accompanied by a crash of water, the temper rising as does the waves. I think it's more threatening to hear his voice booming as the boat is rocked, there's a fear of pissing him off more cause, if he gets much louder, you might just capsize. My mother wanted to also say, in a perfect world, it would actually be Billy Connolly, but he hasn't acted in years now due to Parkinson's. The rumour is that Nolan has cast Robert Pattinson and, while he was threatening as the Batman, I don't think it's the right kind of threatening required for the role. If he was doing this as a voice acting role, maybe, we know he has amazing range from the Boy and the Heron.
Zues - Patrick Page
Listen to Little Songbird or Hellfire and tell me he doesn't sound like Thunder. Moving on.
Circe - Nicole Kidman
Circe is a complex character and I think she needs to be portrayed that way. I don't want a young actor who beguiles older Odysseus with her youth. I need Circe to have that wisdom and experience that Penelope also has. I think it could be an interesting idea to even have them played by the same person. This all depends on how close the movie will be to the original epic anyway. My main stipulation is that she needs to remind Odysseus of Penelope.
Calypso - Lupita Nyong'o
The articles I've read actually suggest her as Circe, which I wouldn't mind either, I just wanted someone older for Circe. I think Calypso is also a complex character that must be portrayed as such. Essentially I think Lupita would be able to embody both the woman madly in love with Odysseus and also the Goddess keeping him here for her entertainment. From seeing her in Us, I know she has an amazing range and is able to show the threatening side to Calypso required. It doesn't work if it seems like Odysseus has the upper hand at any point.
Telemachus - Thomas Brodie Sangster
I really struggled here cause a lot of young actors look too modern for a lot of period pieces. It's also important that Telemachus isn't some chiseled, huge guy. I also think, given we would probably check in on him multiple times during the movie, Thomas is good at looking young and old at the same time. Another option would maybe be Joe Locke.
This post is long already so I'm not doing the rest of the characters. I have nothing against the actors Nolan has gone with, I just don't think they fit well. I'm also heavily biased from listening to Epic and Hadestown a lot.
Lmk your suggestions, as always, these are just my thoughts and a lot of them aren't even well thought out.

Champagne Problems - T.H.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Tom and y/n, a couple that used to be inseparable, now face a deep crisis in their marriage. Their daughter, Olivie, 4, is in the middle of this emotional turmoil. With busy lives, differences of opinion and fragmented communication, the love that brought them together is slowly fading. After the aftermath they must face their own demons, rediscover empathy, and find a way to rebuild the relationship they once shared. Not just for themselves, but also for the well-being of their daughter, who longs for a united family.
A/N: Well here it is, this is a rollercoaster of emotions and I hope you enjoy it. An important note: English is not my first language so I hope you understand if there are any errors, be kind and let me know if necessary and I can fix it.
W/A: +5k
‘’Where’s my sweet baby pie?’’ You heard Nikki’s voice before she even opened the front door.
‘’Grandma!’’ Olivie screamed loudly when she saw her grandmother and ran straight into her open arms.
‘’Hi sweetie! I missed you.” She said hugging the little girl tightly. ‘’Everyone was waiting for you.’’ Olivie smiled and made her way inside the house without looking back.
Nikki turned to you, as you walked in the living room and smiled opening her arms just like she did with Ollie, welcoming you into a warm hug.
‘’What about you, darling? It’s been a while since I’ve seen you.’’
‘’I know, and I’m sorry for that. Work’s been so hard lately, there’s a lot going on.’’ It wasn’t a lie, the last few weeks had been a pain in your ass with so much work since you got your promotion to chief editor at the publisher you worked.
‘’Yeah, Tom told me, that’s great news though!’’
‘’Its is, I’ve waited this for such a long time. But is complicated, Ollie is growing up and I feel like I’m missing out sometimes.’’ She smiled softly at you.
‘’I get it, just try not to stress yourself, that girl needs you... and you know, your promotion wasn’t the only thing Tom talked to me about the last time he was here... what’s going on with the both of you?’’
This was a question you really didn’t want to reply and this was a conversation you didn’t want to have, especially with your husband’s mother.
‘’I guess our relationship has seen better times but we’re trying. I’m just... I can’t have this conversation right now”
‘’I see... it’s alright sweetheart. I don’t want to intrude, just want to see you happy, the both of you. And that little girl.’’
‘’Me too.’’ You smiled at her, trying to hide the forming lump on your throat. ‘’I need to go, Tom is probably already home and we need to get ready.’’
‘’Of course. I’m going to find Ollie for you to say goodbye.’’ She walked out in the direction of the back garden.
While you waited, you took your time looking around the living room you’ve seen a thousand times already. Memories spread across the walls in the form of photos. Tom’s graduation day, Paddy’s first day of kindergarten, your wedding day, their family trip to Hawaii, Olivie as a new born. Memories you’re proud to be a part of.
The sound of small feet running to you woke you up from the small daydreaming.
‘’Mummy!’’ She hugged your legs and you bent down to her level to stare into her eyes.
‘’I’m going now, ok? Remember our deal?”
‘’Yeah, to be a good girl for grandma.’’ She said happily remembering your words from earlier.
‘’That’s right! Two nights, ok? And then we’re taking you home.’’
‘’You and daddy?’’ She asked playing with a string of your hair.
‘’Yeah, mummy and daddy.” She nodded. ‘’Alright, now give mumma a hug.’’ You tighly held her for a while, taking in her baby scent, the one you loved so much. ‘’Bye, babybug.’’ She let go of you and turned around finding her grandmother standing next to the couch. ‘’Bye Nikki, thank you for taking care of her. And please, say hi to everyone.’’
‘’Always. And please, have fun. You both need that”
...
Tonight was a special night. Tom’s company is hosting a party to celebrate a new partnership with a foreign company and, of course, as the wife of one of the partners, your presence is unquestionable. You need to be there to support your husband and keep the facade of the perfect couple with the perfect family. Because no one knows what goes on behind closed doors.
You stared at yourself in the mirror. The dark red dress you chose hugs your curves in all the right places, the small slit on the leg made it a little more daring but didn't lose the classic touch. It had been a while since you dressed up for a gala event, so you decided to take advantage of the opportunity and remember your features that have been hidden for a while.
Tom entered the room wearing his elegant suit. His hair was straightened and with every step he took he exuded class, and as you watched him in the mirror's reflection, you noticed his gaze fixed on your body.
''Woah, you look beautiful tonight'' Was the first thing he said. Tom hadn't had the opportunity to see the dress you had chosen before this moment, so it was definitely a surprise.
''Yeah, I wanted to try something today.'' You smiled, breaking eye contact in the mirror and going to the table next to the bed, picking up the necklace you had chosen. ''Can you put it on for me?'' You walked up to him and handed the necklace into his hands, turning your back.
Tom calmly analyzed the necklace and felt his breathing hitch. There was the necklace he had given you just before Olivie was born. Your pregnancy was not easy. There were many complications during the period and the risk of something happening to you or the baby was high. To this day, he is grateful that you two made it out of the operating room safe and sound.
The small, sparkling jewel dangled from the chain, reminding him of simpler times. He knew the moment he saw it for the first time that you would love it. It was simple, but it carried enormous emotion, love and hope.
He raised his hands towards your neck and noticed that they were sweating. And you felt his warm breath on your neck and his fingers delicately ran across it, making goosebumps run down your body. How long has it been since you felt each other's touch like this? It's impossible to believe that the two young people who couldn't live without having contact with each other for a long time became like two strangers afraid to touch.
Maybe a few years ago he would have come closer, placed his hands on your waist and left a kiss next to your ear. You would have thrown your head back leaning on his shoulder and the two of you would have stayed like that for a while.
But things changed and the two of you were no longer the same couple at the beginning of a relationship as you were before. Life happened and differences emerged, thoughts changed and opinions diverged. How could things be the same as before?
Instead, Tom put space between you and scratched his throat. His hand went to the back of his head. You looked in the mirror once again.
''I'm driving today, so if you're ready we can go''
You nodded and turned to him waiting for some reaction. Whatever it was. But what you got was him turning his back and walking towards the bedroom door. Holding back the cry that wanted to leave your throat, you lifted your head and followed him. Time to play the part.
...
The path to the venue's party room was silent. In the car, Tom let the music take over the space. As you mouthed the lyrics to a random song that was playing, Tom let furtive glances find you. But you would never know it.
When you arrived, a boy went towards the car while Tom opened his door. He quickly turned around and opened your door, extending his hand to help you out. Tom thanked the boy who entered the space he previously occupied and left with the car to park it.
You held onto Tom's arm as you walked together to the entrance of the already crowded room. Taking a deep breath, a smile appeared on your face as Harrison, Tom's best friend and one of his partners, walked towards you.
''You're finally here, what happened that took you so long?'' He said suggestively, making Tom laugh.
‘’No need to pry, mate.’’ Tom replied, now wrapping his arm around your waist. ''We arrived and we are fine, thank you for asking.''
''No defensiveness, Tom. You look great tonight, Y/N.'' Harrison said.
''Thanks, H. You don't look bad either.'' Harrison smiled and spun around as if showing off his outfit. You laughed at his mannerism.
''Well, some of the investors are already here and want to meet the person responsible for the partnership with the Japanese company.''
''Don't put all this on me, you were responsible too.''
''Wait, Tom... you didn't tell me that this came from you.'' You said resting one of your hands on his chest.
''What? Didn't he tell you? It turns out that if it weren't for this guy here, things wouldn't have happened. He was the one who stayed up working for hours and hours, making it impossible for the company to refuse the agreement.'' Harrison said.
How come Tom never mentioned this? Of course you knew something big was about to happen at the company but you didn't know that Tom was working so hard on it. So every night he took a while to get home, he was at work? Was the silence that came from him caused by this?
Tom looked uncomfortable, which was strange. Why was he acting like this?
A waiter approached the three of you and held out a tray with glasses of what looked like champagne. Harrison took one, while Tom did too and handed it to you.
''Aren't you going to drink?'' Harrison asked raising an eyebrow.
''I'm driving tonight.'' His hand returned to your waist and you felt his fingers lightly caressing over the thin material of the dress. ''Let's do this. I'll be right back, okay?'' He turned to you, who in response just nodded.
''Y/N, Sophie is near the bar. She was looking forward to your arrival.'' He pointed to where his wife was talking to two women unknown to you. ''She said that only you understand her in this place.''
''I say the same about her.'' You started walking towards your friend, who, upon seeing you, completely forgot about the two strangers she was talking to.
''I'm so grateful to see you. I was already starting to panic.'' She hugged you. ''Girl, and that dress! You look wonderful.'' She said looking you up and down.
''Did you like it? I think I made the right choice.''
''Definitely. I bet Tom went crazy when he saw you like that'' She said winking. Sophie was one of the only people who knew about how troubled your relationship was, and she certainly hoped that things between you would get better.
Just like your words to Harrison, she was the only person you could count on at the moment. Ever since their relationship began, just a few months after you and Tom became official, you two had been inseparable. The two of you worked together to help the two of them when they decided to start a company. And in this world made of appearances, you remained the same.
Obviously, Tom and Harrison have other partners who are married to snobbish and difficult to deal with women. And even though their husbands only have a small portion of the company, they act as if they are in charge of everything and everyone.
That's why you two stick together. Holding each other.
''It turns out that I was also expecting a reaction but I didn't get much.'' You say dejectedly taking a sip of the drink. Her hand affectionately roams your arm.
''I'm sorry, darling. He may not have shown it but I bet he won't resist and at the end of the night we know what will happen.'' The suggestive way in which she spoke made you laugh sincerely. ''We know what you have hidden there!'' You chuckled even though you weren't sure how this night would end and if it would go that way.
''For now I don't want to think about it, let's just enjoy it, okay?'' You tell her, holding her hand and pulling her close to the bar. ''Let's order a drink!''
And while you distracted the thoughts that disturbed you with what you were experiencing at the moment, Tom followed your every move, instead of paying attention to the compliments and questions he received.
''What you're doing for the company is great, Thomas! I'm sure it will grow more every day.'' Peter's hand, one of the investors, stopped on his shoulder, pulling him back.
''Thanks, but I wouldn't be able to do any of this alone.'' He said. ''None of this would be possible without the help of everyone who works at the company. Everyone, without exception.''
''And he's still humble. You really impress me, boy'' Peter laughs, making everyone in the circle laugh too.
''If you'll excuse us, we need to talk for a second.'' Harrison interrupts and pulls Tom aside, leaving the circle of middle-aged men. ''Mate, are you okay? You seem a little distant.''
Tom stares at the ground, trying to keep himself steady. His emotions were running high, and he didn't want to show it, at least not here and now.
''Yeah, I just need to have a glass of water.'' He replied walking towards one of the waiters who was carrying what he needed. ''This conversation has stressed me out. Harrison, I didn't do it all alone. You were part of it too.''
''Tom, I know that. Just accept the compliment, you know that's what they like to do. They're just interested in the money they're going to receive from all of this.'' Harrison says, resting his hand on his friend's shoulder. ''You do not need to worry about me. After all, I didn't lie about who actually stayed up late working on this project. The merit is yours, my friend.''
‘’Thanks, mate” Tom smiled and hugged his friend.
''Let's mingle a little bit more, okay? Then we can return to the arms of our dear wives.'' After Harrison's words, Tom's eyes went looking for you again. And they found you in the same place, laughing and enjoying the night, looking freer than before. ''Speaking of which, why didn't you tell her what was going on?''
''I think I was working too much and didn't want to worry her. She just got promoted and you know how Y/N is like. Always putting the needs of others above her own.’’
''Tom, she is your wife. Not to mention she's the mother of your daughter. She needs to know about things that happen, you can't deal with everything alone.''
''I know that.'' He took a deep breath. ''But this is not the time for that, shall we continue?''
Harrison looked a little disappointed but didn't want to step on any more toes, so he just agreed and they carried on with the night.
...
''I can't believe he did that.'' Sophie said shocked. ''What an asshole.''
''Well, you can believe it.''
''He promotes you and still has the courage to challenge you? Doubting whether you will be able to complete your tasks on time?''
Since you were promoted, your boss has been making comments about your work making you doubt whether it was a good choice or not. Which doesn't make sense because the decision to promote you was his. How can he doubt your abilities now?
''It's been exhausting but I've been trying not to pay too much attention to his sarcastic comments.''
''I bet so, but I'm sure you're doing an excellent job.'' She smiled. ‘’Seriously, you shouldn't care about this asshole’’
''Whoa, who's the asshole?'' You heard Harrison's voice, and turned around to find him and Tom approaching the two of you.
''Y/N's boss is trying to make her work life hell.'' She responded as Harrison hugged her from behind. At that moment you felt jealous of her. ''Hey, want to dance?''
''Hm, one of the bosses embarrassing himself on the dance floor with his lovely wife? Is this something everyone here would like to witness?'' He pretended to think for a while before holding her hand. ''I bet they wouldn't miss this for anything.'' He dragged her to the dance floor, leaving you and Tom standing next to each other laughing.
When the laughter stopped it was strange. They were there, husband and wife embarrassed to be so close. Tom broke the ice and got closer to her, who leaned back on a table. His hands went to her waist while hers went to his chest.
''I would ask you to dance too, but I don't know if everyone here is prepared to watch this disaster.'' The playful tone in his voice made her startle. She feigned shock.
''Are you sure about that? Am I the cause of disaster? Do I need to remind you of our first dance? How many times did you step on my foot that night?'' They laughed together and for the first time in a long time, you felt close to him. Almost complete. He was there, and he was yours. ‘’Tommy...’’
His heart missed a beat when he heard the nickname. Your hands went around his neck, your face slowly approaching his.
‘’Yeah, darling, I’m here.’’
''I really miss you.'' You say placing your head on his chest. ''I'm tired.''
''Do you want to go home?'' He asked, stroking your back.
''Are you sure? It's your party. I can go alone if you want. I'm not that drunk, I'm just really tired.'' Your voice was muffled but he could hear it.
''It doesn't matter, I won't let you go alone. I just need to say goodbye to some people, okay? And talk to Haz.'' He said, making you look at him.
''Okay, I'm going to the bathroom.'' He nodded and let you go. Watching your path before following his.
In the bathroom, you looked at yourself in the mirror and noticed how flushed you were. Not knowing if it was caused by the drinking or the closeness you were with your own husband.
You entered one of the stalls just as two women entered the bathroom.
''Did you see them today?" One of them said. ‘’They look so hot.’’
''Yeah, it's a shame they had those two clinging to their arms all night.'' The second voice said, Ava, you recognized it. She was Tom and Harrison's assistant at the company. The person everyone has to deal with directly before they can exchange a word with either of them. Normally, she is the one who decides which issue is extremely important and needs to reach them or not.
''Did you see Y/N tonight? I never imagined she could dress so well''.
''It was definitely just for the show.'' Ava replied and you held your breath in fear that they would realize that there was someone else in the same room as them. ''At least she looks pretty today.''
''And how do you feel about that?'' The girl asked cautiously.
''What do you mean by that, Izzy? Do you think I'm afraid of her?'' Ava mocked. ''You don't even know the half of it.''
''It's his wife.'' The second girl, Izzy, clarified.
''Do you want to know? Tom and I have become very close these last few weeks. Late one night, while we were at the office, he opened up to me. He was very honest saying that their marriage is not going well. Made it seem like he was tired of her or something.'' She said. ''What they did today was just to keep up appearances. I know what he really wants.''
''You mean he wants you?'' Izzy said and you felt your heart stop waiting for the answer.
''It's not that, I mean, we had a moment. This week, he was in the middle of a meeting when his daughter's daycare center called. Something about her fighting with a colleague over a pen, childish stuff, you know? I needed to act and since my name was on the list of people who could pick her up, I went.'' You felt dizzy upon hearing the information. How had Tom not told you this? ''I think he was extremely grateful, we hugged and well, we almost kissed.''
Everything was getting blurry, you couldn't believe he would do something like that.
''It didn't happen, so I don't want to say he wants me, but maybe he wants to get rid of her.'' She finished. ''Anyway, I wouldn't have a relationship with him. A daughter and an ex-wife? It is not for me. But that's it, looking doesn't take away anything.''
They left the bathroom still gossiping, but you couldn't hear anything else. How could he have done this? Not just exposing your relationship to a stranger and almost kissing her but hiding something about your own daughter? Trying to remember a moment that may have been abnormal, you remembered two weeks ago, when Tom called you informing you that he was already at home with Ollie earlier and that you didn't need to pick her up. This was unusual, and never happened unless you agreed beforehand.
Something happened at her school, little Olivie got into trouble and you didn't know about it. You couldn't discipline your own daughter because your husband decided to hide it from you.
After the shock, some things started to make sense and well, your husband almost kissed another woman. There's a lot going on and you're not in a good place to think about it. Your only goal now is to go home.
Leaving the cabin, you looked in the mirror and finally noticed the tears running down your face.
You quickly wiped your face and left the bathroom, encountering who you wanted to avoid. He was there, near the door, talking to the two women who had just exposed the biggest nonsense that Tom Holland could have done in his life. His eyes met yours and he was distracted, confused by your expression, soon the women also noticed that you left the bathroom right behind them.
And they knew what they had done. They said goodbye to Tom without looking back. He walked up to you and cupped your face with his hand.
''Y/N what happened?'' He said worriedly, you grabbed his wrists, removing his hands from your face.
''I'm going home.'' Was the only thing you said before walking past him towards the exit. Without looking at anyone, not even Sophie.
When you finally left the salon, the same boy from earlier was standing in front of the familiar car, waiting for the owner. He spotted Tom, who was behind you and handed him the keys.
He thanked the boy and stopped in front of you.
''Let's go, and we'll talk about what's going on.'' He held your hand only for you to make him let go right away.
''I'm not going with you''
''What? Y/N, get in the car.''
You shook your head and the tears came back. Soon your face was covered and you couldn't control it.
''No. How could you... how could you do this to me?" Your voice was increasing and Tom started looking around frantically.
''Y/N, baby, please. Let's go home.’’ Your hands went to your face, hiding it, embarrassed by this whole situation.
''You're hurting me so much, Tommy.'' Carefully he approached you and hugged you. And you allowed it. Because you are tired, tired of fighting, of holding this relationship alone, of holding a family alone.
Tom managed to guide you to the car and just like on the way there, the return was filled with silence. The only thing that could be heard this time was the sound of your sniffing.
When you arrived home, you were the first to get out of the car without looking back. Tom hadn't even parked properly and you were already outside. Sobriety overshadowed any drink you had this evening. With difficulty you found the keys to the front door inside your bag.
Finally inside the house, you took off your heels, leaving them at the entrance and made your way to the living room. You can hear Tom closing the door and walking right behind you.
''Can you tell me what happened to Ollie at school?'' You turned to him. ''Or are you going to keep hiding this from me?''
And so, Tom understood. He finally understood what had happened. You knew everything.
''She had a fight with a friend. Apparently, he took something from her and she tried to resolve it by pushing the child.'' Tom said as he ran his hands through his hair, messing it up. ''The child was not hurt and the parents understood that it was just a silly disagreement between the children. But the school called me to talk about her behavior.''
''They just called you, or called us both?’’
''Both of us.'' He said knowing where this was going. Your face contorted into an expression of pain.
''Do you know how that makes me feel, Tom? My daughter behaved badly and you omitted me to be responsible for it. She's not just yours, Tom. I need to know these things. What does this teach her? That it's ok if she hides certain things from me, because you did the same? And when she decides to do this with both of us? That hiding things is better?''
''I know I made a mistake, Y/N but I didn't want to burden you. I know the work has been difficult. Hell, you said that to Sophie today.'' He said trying to defend himself. ''I'm sorry for hiding it from you, but I did it thinking about saving you some worry.''
''Thomas, she's my daughter too. I need to know what happens to her. God, Tom, she's 4 years old.'' You try to reason with him, who just sits on the couch. ''I know that's not the whole reason you kept this from me.''
And when he looks up, you find him with eyes full of tears ready to collapse.
''I heard Ava's conversation in the bathroom, that's how I found out. I know she went to pick up Olivie that day. And for the record, I know she's your secretary but I want her off the list of people who can pick up Ollie.'' You say, moving away from him. ''I know what happened next. Between you two.''
Tom quickly stood up in front of you, his eyes begging you to accept whatever he was going to say.
''I don't know what she said, but you need to believe me when I tell you that nothing happened between us. I could never do that to you Y/N, you need to know that.'' And to his surprise you smiled softly. ''From the first moment you came into my life, I knew I would never need anyone again, no matter what.''
''Tom, what happened to us? When and why did we grow so far apart? Isn't this what we wanted, our family?''
''I know I've been distant but Y/N... things really aren't easy. We almost lost... we almost lost the company. Our accounts weren't good, there was a month when I thought we wouldn't be able to pay the employees. Me and Haz were desperate.'' He turned around as if he was embarrassed. ''We almost lost our investors. That's why I had to work twice as hard. So I spent a few nights away from home. In the midst of all this, all I could think about was the two of you. I needed to protect you no matter what.''
Your face softened upon hearing his outburst.
''It's been 10 years since we started this project and look at everything we've built. I had to do something. I know you work and believe me, you are the best at what you do, and your boss is just another asshole in this world who thinks he is better than others, but wouldn't be able to do half as much as you.’’
His face, like yours, was already full of tears.
''I'm sorry, I just couldn't let it all end like this. So, I did everything I could to rebuild what we have.'' He finished, approaching you once again, carefully his hands cupped your face. ''I'm sorry, my intention was never to hurt you. I would never do that.''
Without thinking twice, your lips pressed against his. You hadn’t felt them in a while. Your hands went to his hair while his went to your waist, pulling you as close as possible. As you deepened the kiss, Tom's hands ran down your back. His lips trailed down to your neck and collarbone, leaving open-mouthed kisses along the way.
Your hands found the jacket he still wore, removing it.
''Y/N, I don't want to... are you sure?'' He said with a hitched breath as you left small kisses on his lips. It had been so long since you had truly felt him.
''Yes I'm sure. I miss you so much, Tom, please.'' You said as you stared at him firmly.
He guided you to your room and as always, you let him, trusting him as you always did. And that night, Tom made you feel what you hadn't felt in a while, closeness to him. The care he always had, the affection. Skin on skin, sweat, short and mixed breaths.
...
On Sunday, two nights later, in the morning Tom told Nikki that you would be there for lunch and she could barely contain her happiness at hearing the news. Somehow she managed to notice the difference in her son's tone of voice and knew that things were working out.
Of course, you talked afterwards, for a long time, and agreed that you wouldn't hide anything from each other, especially issues related to Olivie. And you would always be there to listen to each other in any difficulty that may arise. That's what you promised when you exchanged rings and it would remain that way for a long time.
''Mumma, daddy!'' Olivie's excited voice was the first thing you heard when you arrived in the back garden of the Holland family house.
''Hi, baby!'' You said as Tom picked Ollie up. ''Did you have fun with grandma and grandpa?''
''Yeah, we made cookies.'' She said excitedly.
''I hope you left one for me.'' Tom said making the little girl laugh.
''I ate them all.'' She said jokingly. ''Sorry dad.'' Tom opened his mouth pretending to be shocked and you laughed at their mannerism.
This was what you missed, moments of joy and togetherness, happiness and love.

𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐢
Parings → Dad! Peter Parker x Mom! Pregnant! Reader
Warnings → awkward conversations
Summary → Ben asks his parents how babies are made, leading to a sweet, humorous family moment.
Tumblr media
You’re sitting on the couch, your legs stretched out in front of you, leaning slightly against Peter. He’s wrapped an arm protectively around you, and his other hand rests on your ever-growing belly. Every so often, you feel the baby kick, and Peter’s eyes light up with that same joy he’s had ever since you told him the news.
Ben, your four-year-old son, is sitting on the floor in front of you, absorbed in stacking his colorful Legos into a tall tower. He occasionally glances over at you and your tummy, his little brows furrowed in concentration as if there’s something he’s been thinking about for a while.
You can see it in his eyes. He’s going to ask the question soon.
And sure enough, after a few more moments of silence, Ben puts down his Lego brick, crawls up onto the couch next to you, and rests his tiny hand on your belly. His eyes are wide with curiosity as he looks between you and Peter.
“Mama,” Ben begins, his voice as sweet as ever, “how did the baby get in your tummy?”
Peter freezes, and you bite your lip to keep from laughing. It’s one of those moments you knew would come eventually, but it’s still hilarious to see Peter's reaction. His face flushes, and he shifts a little uncomfortably beside you.
“Well,” you start, smoothing Ben’s curly hair with your hand, “the baby grows inside me, sweetheart.”
Ben tilts his head, clearly unsatisfied with the vague answer. “But how did the baby get in there?” He asks, tapping on your tummy as if knocking on a door.
Peter clears his throat, his voice cracking slightly when he speaks. “Uh, well, Benji, it’s… you see, when a mommy and daddy love each other very much…”
You shoot Peter a glare, knowing the classic answer isn’t going to satisfy Ben. He’s a sharp kid—gets that from his dad.
“Peter,” you whisper, nudging him with your elbow. “You’re going to confuse him more.”
Peter raises his hands in surrender, flashing you a sheepish grin. “Okay, okay.” He turns to Ben. “So, buddy, do you remember how you build things with your Legos? You take the pieces and connect them together to make something new, right?”
Ben nods eagerly. “Yeah! I make towers and cars and dinosaurs!”
“Exactly,” Peter says, ruffling Ben’s hair. “Well, just like how you build things, mommy and daddy worked together to help build the baby, kind of like putting pieces together to make a new person.”
Ben scrunches his nose. “Like Legos?”
You laugh softly, reaching down to take Ben’s tiny hand in yours. “Not exactly like Legos, but you’ve got the right idea. The baby started as something very small, and now she’s growing bigger and bigger inside me.”
Ben leans closer to your belly, his eyes wide with awe as if he’s imagining the baby like a little Lego creation. “Why is your tummy so big?” He asks innocently, patting your bump with both hands now.
You grin, feeling the baby shift slightly under his touch. “That’s because the baby is growing bigger every day, and she needs more space in there.”
Peter chuckles, his fingers tracing lazy circles on your belly. “Yeah, and your little sister is kicking up a storm in there. Maybe she’s practicing being a superhero like me.”
Ben’s eyes light up. “Really? She’s gonna have superpowers?”
Peter laughs, winking at you. “Who knows, buddy? Maybe she’ll have powers, maybe she won’t. But she’ll definitely be special.”
You smile, your heart swelling with love as you watch Peter and Ben interact. Peter’s always been such an amazing father, and you love how he’s able to make even the trickiest questions sound like an exciting adventure.
Ben, however, is still full of questions. He frowns slightly, deep in thought. “But why does the baby have to be in your tummy, Mommy? Why not in Daddy’s?”
Peter makes a dramatic, exaggerated face, clutching his stomach as if imagining himself pregnant. “Oh, buddy, you don’t want Daddy carrying the baby. I wouldn’t be able to swing around the city with a belly this big!”
You laugh, shaking your head. “Trust me, he would be a disaster if he had to carry the baby. I’m doing all the heavy lifting here.”
Ben giggles at the thought of his daddy swinging through New York with a big belly, but his curiosity isn’t quite satisfied yet. “When’s the baby gonna come out?”
You exchange a quick glance with Peter, both of you smiling at how determined Ben is to understand everything.
“Soon,” you say softly, rubbing your belly again. “The baby will come out when she’s ready. She still need to grow a little bit more.”
Peter nods, leaning in closer to kiss your temple. “And when she’s ready, you’ll get to be a big brother, Benji. You’ll have someone to play with, someone to teach all your superhero moves to.”
Ben’s face lights up at the idea of being a big brother. He puffs out his chest with pride, standing tall on the couch. “I’m gonna teach her how to build towers and fight bad guys like you, Daddy!”
Peter grins, reaching out to give Ben a high-five. “That’s the spirit, buddy.”
Suddenly, the baby kicks hard, and Ben gasps, his eyes going wide as he feels the movement under his hand. “Whoa! The baby moved!”
You smile, sharing a knowing look with Peter as you both watch Ben’s excitement grow. “Yep, the she’s saying hello.”
“Hi, baby sister!” Ben says loudly, pressing his face against your belly, his little hands still resting on your bump. “I’m your big brother, and I’m gonna take care of you!”
Tears prick at the corners of your eyes as you watch the sweet scene unfold. Peter notices and leans in to kiss your cheek, whispering, “We’re so lucky, aren’t we?”
You nod, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. “Yeah, we really are.”
Ben pulls back and looks at you with wide, innocent eyes. “Mommy, when the baby comes, will she play Legos with me?”
You laugh, wiping at your eyes. “One day, she will. But for now, she’ll be very small. You’ll have to be gentle with she, okay?”
Ben nods eagerly. “I can do that! I’ll be the best big brother ever!”
You and Peter exchange another look, both of you filled with so much love for this little family you’ve created.
“I have no doubt about that, Benji,” Peter says, wrapping his arm around you and Ben. “You’re already the best big brother in the world.”

And definitely not as a billionaire's adopted son with more family than he can ever imagine. Christmas Irondad Story ✨❤️ First chapter is up 😀
You can see the deets by clicking on the link, but we're talking re-write/re-imagining of my favotite cheesy Christmas movie: All I Want For Christmas (the 1991 one). You're in for 🙌dramedy🙌 all the angst and banter and humour and fluff. Biodad AU with all three Tony kids (Harley Morgan and Peter) scheming to get divorced Peps and Tones back together. Feels and laughs throughout the story.
Excerpt below 👇
“Dude, you’re going down. My guy’s about to throw the meanest punch,” Harley taunted.
"Yeah, yeah, just you wait," Peter muttered— thumb working overtime, trying to block Harley’s jabs and figure out how to do anything but get his virtual face smashed in.
Meanwhile, Morgan was sprawled on Peter's bed, lost in her own world, flipping through one of his X-Men comics. Even though she was a bit young for some of the heavy stuff in them, she always managed to look like she was reading with the same seriousness Peter did.
"Mo, you're gonna sprain your neck like that," Peter warned, glancing over his shoulder at her, noticing how she was twisting to read a page. He figured she’d gotten the X-Men bug from him after the whole superhero gig had started; though she was probably more into the sparkly stuff than the punches, she loved the comics, and Peter loved sharing them with her.
Morgan glanced up for a moment, but didn’t say anything— just flipped another page, her eyes drifting back to scan the panels.
"I can't wait to try this in the AR console Dad’s making us," Harley said. "Can’t wait to destroy you there, too."
"Since you can’t in real life," Peter shot back, grimacing as the KO flashed over his defeated player. His character had been knocked out cold, and it was honestly a little embarrassing.
Harley leaned back, all smug confidence. "Let’s not forget I could easily take you before you spidered-up."
Peter rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, you know what they say, terror. Karma is a..." He caught himself mid-sentence and glanced quickly at Morgan.
"The B word," Morgan said, her tone bored as she continued flipping through her comic— not even looking up. "You can say it, I won’t repeat it in front of Mom."
Peter smiled, shaking his head. "I know, Mo. And even if you did, we’d blame..."
"Harley," Morgan finished, her voice matching Peter’s in perfect sync.
Peter and Morgan burst into laughter, while Harley shot them both a half-hearted glare, fighting a smile. "Assholes," he muttered.
“You decided what you’ll ask from Santa, Mo?” Peter asked, his eyes glued to the screen as the next round started up.
"Yeah," Morgan answered right away, her head bobbing. Peter could see her brown locks bouncing with the movement from the corner of his eye. "I’ve known for months now," she added.
Peter glanced at her, intrigued. “Let’s hear it then. What will it be this year? Dog? Cat? Bunny?”
Harley leaned forward, eyes bulging as he got way too into the game. His tongue stuck out slightly in concentration, but his attention was now half on Morgan, curious to hear what her request was. "Come on, Mo. Hit us with it. What animal is it gonna be this year?"
Peter shook his head with a quiet chuckle, though it sounded hollow to his own ears. “The pony would like some company,” he muttered, more to himself than anyone else, the memory hitting him hard.
He could still picture it perfectly— Morgan, all wide-eyed and hopping up and down with excitement. The pony, its big brown eyes blinking in confusion, munching on the tree’s low-hanging branches with a bow tied around its neck. It had been absurd. Over the top. Completely out of place for a New York penthouse. The poor thing had never stood a chance in that apartment. They’d had to send it to the lake house with Mr. Larry, the caretaker, who would look after it. Morgan only got to ride it whenever they visited that place, which had been less and less often since the divorce.
He remembered how everything had seemed normal that Christmas, at least for Morgan. Their parents had pretended like nothing was wrong, even though Peter and Harley had known better. They could see the cracks forming, feel the tension— but their parents had tried to act like everything was fine. Like, Ross Geller fine.
Morgan had gotten her pony, and a few days after New Year's, their parents had sat them down and announced the divorce. It was the cruelest kind of irony. No present— not even Miss Buttercup— could have softened that blow. Peter swallowed, the weight of the memory pressing down harder now.
“I don’t want a pet,” Morgan said seriously, her voice soft. “I have something bigger to ask this Christmas.”
Harley, mid-game, froze. The controller dropped from his hands, his gaze snapping to her with exaggerated interest. “Are we talking real estate? Or a yacht, maybe? ‘Cause it did cross my mind, too—”
“I’ll ask for Mom and Dad to come back together again,” Morgan interrupted him, her voice steady, like she was announcing something simple.
The words hit Peter like a cold wave, and the room seemed to freeze. The game, the noise, everything around him was now muffled. Harley’s eyebrows shot up as Peter exchanged a glance with him, but neither of them knew how to respond.
“Mo…” Peter started, but Morgan didn’t look away from him. She just sat up, determination etched on her face. Her gaze was so intense— so serious— that it made Peter’s throat tighten.
“It’s all I want,” she said, her voice trembling slightly. “All I want for Christmas is us. I want us to be a family again.” The words hung in the air and Peter swallowed hard.
“Morgan, you can’t ask Santa stuff like that,” Harley said quietly, his voice uncharacteristically soft.
“Why? You said he’d never get me a pony, too, but he did.” Morgan's eyes were wide, her little chin set in that way she did when she was trying to convince them of something.
Harley groaned, throwing his head back dramatically. “Because he’s a jolly dude with a beard and a sleigh drawn by magical reindeers, not a marriage counselor! Santa can’t interfere with people’s relationships and lives. It’s one thing to bring presents, and another to try and fix... people.” He hesitated, unsure how to explain something so complicated to a seven-year-old.
Peter watched his little sister’s face fall, before her expression hardened again.
“No,” Morgan deadpanned. “Santa is magic and he can do anything. And I know he’ll understand how important it is to bring Daddy back home to us. We have to be a family again.”
“M, we’re still a family, even if Mom and Dad aren’t together,” Harley said softly, his usual smirk gone, replaced by a tone laden with quiet sincerity— one that Peter had only ever heard him use with Morgan.
“I know,” Morgan replied, but her voice wavered just a little. “But we’re not all together. We see Dad less now, and Richcrap is always around. I want things back how they were.” Her voice dropped. “And that’s what I’m asking Santa, no matter what you two say. You can ask for your silly games. I’ll save our family, you’ll see.”
Peter opened his mouth to speak, but before he could, aggravated voices floated up the stairs. Harley and Morgan couldn’t make out the words, but Peter’s enhanced hearing instantly picked up the harsh tone of his parents arguing. The biting words, the sharp jabs thrown between them— his father’s voice rising in frustration, his mother’s voice clipped and cold.
Peter's stomach dropped.
"Dad’s here," he announced, with a forced smile.
