as a bit of self indulgence, i also like to think that the blade itself is a family heirloom in shisui's family passed down from kagami uchiha

tobirama had it personally made for his trusted battle partner and even though he never married, he used his position as hokage to make sure kagami's wife and children were well taken care of after the uchiha's death and even after his own

Okay my turn now! Tell me about Atonement, Arranged marriage shiita, and/or TobiKaga corporate espionage!!

Hehehe okay so atonement already has one chapter out - it's an itakarin where Itachi is going about minding his own business, when he senses a chakra signature that reminds him of Sasuke. He goes to check it out, and finds Karin in labour and bleeding heavily in the snow while fighting off enemies. And he defects from akatsuki to help take care of Karin and the baby (it's Sasuke's baby, in case that wasn't already clear)

Arranged marriage shiita - so the arranged marriage isn't actually between them haha. Itachi is married off to someone else to continue the clan lineage, and he does his duty so that Sasuke can be with Naruto. But Itachi is Shisuisexual and so... Angst and pain and emotional infidelity as he comes to terms with the fact that he doesn't love his wife, can't love his wife, can only love Shisui

As for TobiKaga corporate espionage, I'll give you a few lines from my notes: "You must think I am a fool. I know Izuna sent you to play his games. I will not be so easily led astray." (It was that flashfic prompt you gave me which grew into a monster of epic proportions so you're responsible for this)

Kagami admired Tobirama for the longest time, watching Hiruzen, Homura, and Danzo train under him. He’d always hear stories about how cool their sensei was, and every time he saw Tobirama, he’d get a funny, warm feeling in his chest he always just took for admiration

When he was thirteen, he finally asked Tobirama to train him

Tobirama was a little hesitant since he was an Uchiha, but Kagami always reminded him of a more level-headed, realistic Hashirama in the sense of personality, and he liked the fire in his eyes, so he agreed

Tobirama trained Kagami in sensory ability, battle tactics, taijutsu, and some Water-style

They grew closer; Tobirama came to really respect Kagami for his genius and adaptability, as well as his devotion to the village, and Kagami’s admiration for Tobirama’s intellect and endless skill

They developed a rapport unique to the two of them, Kagami became one of the only people to see Tobirama’s playful side, which was dry and sarcastic to compliment his own endless, good-natured teasing

Kagami knew which buttons he could press and which to stay away from; he respected Tobirama to the highest degree and never pushed him too far, which Tobirama greatly appreciated

Kagami emotionally supported Tobirama when Hashirama died and passed the torch to him. Tobirama went through the motions for a while, distraught, and in that year, Kagami made sure to cook meals for him and eat with him a lot so he wouldn’t be alone.

Tobirama broke down and cried once for his brother in front of Kagami, who didn’t say anything, but laid a hand on his shoulder and let him get it out, which is what he needed.

Tobirama chose Kagami as one of his personal guards immediately when he became Hokage, it was a no-brainer since at that point he leaned on Kagami a lot emotionally, and they knew each other well and had good battle-synergy.

It wasn’t until Kagami had a near-death experience on a mission that Tobirama realized, as he held Kagami in his arms, severely injured and fading from the living, crying over him, that he had subconsciously began to build a future in his head with Kagami at his side.

So when Kagami survived miraculously, and having been affected by Hashirama’s death, Tobirama was honest with Kagami about his feelings.

Kagami had realized his affections for Tobirama were romantic when he watched him go through a few unsuccessful courtships and got irrationally jealous.

He had kept his feelings to himself out of respect for Tobirama. It would have been foolish to think they could be together, what with the tension between the Senju and Uchiha, and their both being men.

So when Tobirama came clean, he instantly accepted his proposal to court in secret. By now, Kagami was twenty.

They fell hard and fast for each other, and it wasn’t long before they became lovers.

A year went by and Kagami, who had always had a soft spot for children, began expressing his desire for one indirectly.

Tobirama is a smart man, so he caught on pretty quickly as he watched Kagami train genin happily, buy some of his unofficial students treats, laugh and play with them.

When Kagami held Hiruzen and Biwako’s baby son, cooing at him, something in Tobirama’s chest clicked.

He decided he’d do his best to make this desire of Kagami’s come true.

So he poured over jutsu scrolls, took lots of information from the Nara and Uzumaki clans, and spent months working on something that could allow he and Kagami to have a biological child.

He finally developed the solution in the form of a sealing jutsu.

The jutsu would seal a fully working ‘mother’ reproductive system inside of a person without the preexisting anatomy (a womb and the like) until it was undone.

He presented the option to Kagami one night over dinner, who readily agreed and volunteered to be the mother.

So while they made love, Tobirama gently applied the seal to Kagami’s abdomen, giving him the necessary internal anatomy to mother a child.

They tried for a few months until Kagami was successfully pregnant.

Once the pregnancy was confirmed, Tobirama took Kagami off of duty to protect him and their already-very-precious child.

Kagami took over lots of administrative work for Tobirama.

Once he started showing, they came clean to their clans, who gave mixed reactions. The older generations were not supportive, but the newer ones felt it strengthened the bond between the two clans and were supportive.

The second world war was brewing and caused Tobirama to fight while Kagami was forced to stay home.

They made it through to the birth, which happened in the throes of war, but the baby was a healthy little boy with dark, curly hair and Tobirama’s red eyes.

He was their absolute pride and joy.

The two were able to spend four months with their baby as a happy family.

Then the war got worse and to prevent the Kinkaku and Ginkaku platoon from attacking the village, Tobirama and Kagami moved out with their team, leaving their son home with Mito.

They were outnumbered and Tobirama made the decision to lead the platoon away from his team to keep Kagami safe.

He felt it was his duty not only as Hokage, but as a father to protect the mother of his child.

He named Hiruzen Hokage to keep Kagami out of harm’s way, so that he could focus on raising their son.

They shared one last kiss and parted ways.

Kagami awakened his Mangekyō the moment Tobirama’s retreating figure faded from sight in the treeline.

They returned home and he was able to raise their son until he was in his forties.

Their son married an Uchiha woman and had his grandson, Shisui, who was a fourth Senju and three-fourths Uchiha.

Kagami gave his life at the beginning of the next Great Shinobi war and reunited with Tobirama in the Pure Lands.

Shisui grew up with Kagami and Tobirama as his heroes.

Though the clan already found his family to be somewhat unacceptable due to the Senju blood, he found his Water-style affinity as well as his sensory abilities to be deeply cherished mementos from his grandfather, Tobirama.

His inherent talent as an Uchiha was all Kagami.

His Will of Fire was a joint gift from the both of them, and he honored it everyday of his life.

His ties to the Senju are what helped him see things from multiple perspectives and view the Uchiha more objectively than other clan members.

Lately I've been obsessed with the idea of sensor Shisui who is related to Tobirama, maybe in a TobiKaga sort of thing where Tobirama found a way for them to have a biological baby even though they're two men, and instead of having fire as his main affinity Shisui has water like Tobirama did so he uses lighting most of the time because he was raised thinking that an Uchiha using water attacks is wrong

"Kagami-," Tobirama's voice didn't sound stressed, or distressed, yet it sounded like he was somewhat in a hurry and so Kagami's attention was immediately up on his lover. "- You know I do appreciate your moths a lot.. And each and every one of them is a masterpiece that nature creatue, all in color pattern and shape that they can have.. And I am not ever complaining about them being allowe free flight in our house, because it is the safest place for your moths to grow up in."

Now Kagami fully looked up at the Albino, instantly smiling at the sight that presented itself to him. Tobirama was somewhat swarmed by quite a few of his newlings, barely a week old and already they are testing different grounds to grow and rest on.. Today it was Tobirama's day, it seemed. some holding onto strands of white hair, while one rested on his eyebrow and the other was making it's way up over the tip of his nose.

There even about 5 sitting on both outstretched arms. "But I really do need to work.. I love them as much as they love me but.. I can't simply do nothing just because they choose that today is the day, you understand that right?"

With a soft laugh, Kagami rose from his seat, moving with deliberate motions so the wind of his movements wouldn't unsettle them too much. "I do understand, yes. But they probably won't yet. " Still, he gently picked those on the Senju's hands up, placing them onto his own hair and shoulders, some even on his upper body, just wherever there was space. "They might return to you, I really think they like the feel of your calm chakra when you are focused like that.. I do too." Those moths are especially sensitive to the feel of chakra, the different tones and vibrations of it.

There were two that he left in Tobirama's hair, they were completely still and seemed to only rest, but he plucked off the two curious ones from his face. "I hope they will give you some time to work now... If not, call me and I will bring them into the mothhouse."

"Thank you." The Albino answered with a smile, leaning down to plant a gentle kiss onto the Uchiha's forehead. "I think we will be in the same situation in a few minutes again."

His intelligence & skillset. Also his self-control & discipline. It commands respect. His voice too, whew it's so authoritative. I also think his character design is so cool! The blue wardrobe against his pale skin and hair (I support the headcanon that he's albino, I think it adds so much depth) with his red eyes and face marks. How prettily his eyes are shaped too. His sarcasm and dry humor. And (last thing I promise) when he gets so indignant after Nart mistakes his jutsus for Minato's. (i literally named almost everything whoops)

This speaks to who he is as a person. Look at yourself unbiased, with all of your shortcomings, your flaws, and your weaknesses as well as your strengths, know your limits and know what you're willing to do to lessen your faults. It's how he came to be who he is, and man if it isn't good advice.

HashiTobi obvs. I think their brotherly relationship is cute. Hashirama is the older sibling and yet the one who is more responsible and level-headed is Tobirama. Also the fact that Tobirama lived his life to realize Hashirama's dream of his village--as he knew Hashirama was a visionary but lacked the concrete know-how to actually execute his vision.

I have two.

TobiIzu in the way that they were true equals and I headcanon the idea that while Tobirama harbored the generational mentality that Uchiha were evil, he was also very fascinated by the Uchiha in general because of their traditions/prowess, and Izuna's strength and abilities in particular were so intricate, it was his favorite thing to study. Izuna got under his skin (which amused Izuna) and Tobirama couldn't help but be interested and in awe of him despite his pesky beliefs about the Uchiha. I believe he felt heavy guilt when he killed him.

TobiKaga in the way that Kagami was the only Uchiha ever to gain Tobirama's utmost trust. I want to know so badly how Kagami was able to obtain it. I believe Kagami was a very sunny-personality-type, who inherently understood where Tobirama was coming from and had unwavering respect for him. The beautiful "you are my exception" trope. I support the headcanon that Kagami got his Mangekyo after Tobirama left to be the decoy.

I do enjoy me some MadaTobi/TobiMada, after all they are very similar and they butt heads to it's always fun to read fics where they're stubborn in admitting they're attracted to each other.

unpopular opinion

I don't believe he is prejudice against the Uchiha, I believe his misgivings about them are so ingrained (from growing up as Butsuma's son, having to view them as enemies all his young life) in his mentality that he refuses to give them up because that would mean admitting he's wrong which he never does.

I believe he did his very best to make sure Konoha would be successful and strong (creating the ANBU, delegating roles to clans, etc.) and the fact that some backfired was not his fault. He's only a person and did the best he could with what he had.

Honestly? Heretic got more love than I had expected. I really wasn't proud of that one but people seem to like it

I don't really use lyrics to title works but I do include lyrics in almost everything. - Heretic is inspired by Florence + The Machine. - Death and All His Friends includes I Found by Amber Run, and Broken Crown by Mumford and Sons. - Talking to the Moon is the only one that's a lyric title. It's (obviously Talking To The Moon by Bruno Mars). It also has Blood Upon The Snow by Hozier, Who Are You, Really? by Mikky Ekko (VERY kkob in this fic), Which Witch by Florence + The Machine (again), and Love Is A... by PVRIS.

Oh, man, this one is hard. I'll list a few, I guess From Heretic: Konan reforms from a scattered wall of paper, pulled together like beads on a string. Kakashi screwing with Tenzo at the end of chapter 1 in Talking To The Moon still makes me laugh. In chapter 2, It was a vulnerable position with Nobara in his blind spot, and it was instinct to want to push back. But what did it matter in the end? Nobara would kill him or he would fuck him. Either way, Kakashi would be satisfied. In Death and All His Friends: “I don’t think it’s peace that bothers you, it’s change.” Izuna’s glare grew hotter, fury simmering just beyond dark eyes. Tobirama was not cowed by it. “You fear what your place would be in a world that no longer needs soldiers when being a soldier is all you know.” and A cocky smirk curled his lips at Tobirama’s muttering, an eidolon of days long past and nightmares that continued to haunt him. “You should know by now,” Izuna crooned. “You will never get rid of me.”

Biggest surprise while writing this year?

Editing sucks, but I knew that. I'm surprised at how much I posted, honestly.
