HELL YES TO ALL OF THIS!!!!!!!!!!
I absoutley screeched when Gio showed up in 4x18!! I loved how Betty flashed him and that's how they were reunited after at least a year and a half (being as prior to that, the last time we saw Gio was 3x2. Maybe 3x3...) 😂😝
Also, when they were on their walk together towards the end of that episode, he made an intresting comment about how even back when they were a thing, he could always sense that Betty's heart belonged to someone else. Becasue of what else had been going on at the time, I think that a lot of people thought that he was referring to Henry, but upon further reflection, I fully believe that he was actually talking about Daniel, even if Betty and the audience didn't realize it!!
The other reason why I love Gio so g.d. much is because he pushed Betty out of her comfort zone and challenged her to try new things/reclaim a part of herself that had been missing for a long time. The very first episode he was in, he and Betty had that whole conversation about her working on her writing and it was partially becasue of his encouragement that she actually signed up for that creative writing class!! (By the way, he mean professor's "You're up, crappy!" still make me howl with laughter to this day. I know that it's bad that he called Betty crappy, but it's funny because while it seems a little unrealistic, it also makes perfect sense that a rude professor would for real say that to a poor student.)
Moving on, I know exactly what you mean about how the show stuck to it's telenovla orgins while also still making everything have a very "Hey, that could happen to me!" feel to it. All of the things that everybody went through was for sure dramatic, but take away the dramaticness of it all and you're left with true and real situations. Examples: When Ignacio had to go back to Mexico, when the Meade's were adjusting to Alexis and what that all meant, when Santos died, when Amanda was searching for her father, when Mark's mom visited him...so many storylines throughout the seasons that had dramatic elements but as you said, still also felt really grounded.
Ok, and so now to jump to the Captain of the Detty Ship:
Claire was the number one shipper even before those iconic season 4 moments!!! The thing that sticks out to me the most when it comes to this aspect is from "Tornado Girl" when Betty had to hire a sky writer to get Daniel's attention. He had just come back after meeting Molly for the first time and told his mom that he was thinking about a girl. I can't remember what Claire exactly said, but she mentioned something about, "Is it Betty?" And of couse Daniel was confused a.f. before Betty's skywriting bit was revealed. Like, ok, it's clear that Claire was probably only talking about the skywriting, as she had seen it before he had, but the fact that she asked in the first place if he was thinking about Betty...!! Oh, my heart. 💓
Also, while we're on the topic of "Tornado Girl"...that episode is SO IMPORTANT in understanding just how much Daniel cares for and respects Betty. He 'fessed up and told everyone about what he had done to save Betty from public humilation. And the way he made sure to catch her eye through the crowd so that he could mouth "I'm sorry"?!?!? Daniel, please. Make it less obvious that you totally heart Betty. 🥺😭🤧😍💞
Alright, next topic:
I forgot to say this in my original response, but I have read that article before!!!! It had been a hot minute, but I definetly remember it!!!!!! I vividly recall reading it for the first time in high school on my school-issued iPad when I was supposed to be paying attention to whatever class I was in 😂😎✌🏻💖
It was amazing to re-read though and I just love how much effort was put into it. (:
And as for that video...!!
That I had never seen before 😳😵🥴
I thought that I had seen every UB edit out there, but apperantly not!!
Anyway, it was an amazing video; I can see why it's your favorite!!!!!!! Everything about it was so good and really well put together. It made me cry and have lots of feelings and wow, I just loved it so freakin' much!!!!!!!!!
Last but not least, I always rewatch random episodes whenever I feel like it and once a year do a total episode-by-episode, in order rewatch.
That being said, while every season and episode has funny moments, some of the most best ones happened in season 2. I just rewatched the one where it's Gio's first episode and Betty has to get the fancy wheelchair for Daniel, not yet knowing that he's being a big faker. The part where she says, "I don't know" when Daniel asks her how to stop and then how she just let's Daniel run into the table is comedy gold!!!
Also from that same episode: When Betty tilted her chair back to get a snack from the refreshment table behind her and everything fell over. 😂 Marc's loud whisper of "Don't worry, no one noticed." was the perfect cherry on top!!
And!! How can we forget the way that Wilhelmina pounded on Bradford's chest while screaming, "Don't you DARE DIE!!!" 😂 That's a little dark, I know, but it's also so totally her and I'm glad that the writers did that!!
More funny moments that were not in season two but I really enjoy are:
1). When Betty stayed up all night to create her YETI magazine and then visited Daniel at his hotel the next day. She was telling him about all of the coffee she had had plus an enegry drink called Viper Strike. "The drink that bites back!" The way Daniel half playfully mocked her by saying "I don't think that you came over here to talk about Viper Strike." is still so very hilarous to me, especially because Eric used his stuffy/sick voice, so it sounded hella funny.
2). When Betty won the Blobby and got super loud and excited after just telling Marc that she doesn't carry on in loud manners. The GIF you picked of him screaming is everything!! Of course I know that he only did that because of what Betty had done earlier in the episode, but it's still funny to me, especailly becasue of Wilhelmina's "This is not The Price is Right." comment. 😅
Anyway...!!!!!!!!
I know that I didn't have to respond again, but I wanted to because I still just have so many thoughts about this amazing show. It was important to me that I shared them with you (and the rest of our followers lmao). 🤗

I JUST NOW NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE GIFS IN YOUR HEADER IS OF BETTY SUAREZ FROM THE FINAL SCENE OF UGLY BETTY!!!!!!!!!! *insert screaming cat and Kermit heart images here*
Betty is so special and important to me!! She's one of my most favorite characters ever and I love how 13 years after the series finale, she hasn't been forgotten about. 🥺🥹😭🤧💗💓💞
OMG! It makes my heart so happy to hear that you are also an Ugly Betty fan! What are some of your favorite episodes/moments?
I adore Betty Suarez & Co. I do a series rewatch every year, it’s my favorite comfort show. It was canceled prematurely, and I'm still waiting for my Ugly Betty reunion movie.
I've been a huge fan of America Ferrera since "Real Women Have Curves," but Betty Suarez is my ultimate favorite of her roles. Like you, Betty is just so special to me. I'm always telling people to watch the show (many mutuals on Tumblr will attest to this 😂). I talk about the show so much you'd think it was still airing. I started a new job five months ago, and just last week, I was having lunch with one of my new colleagues, and she saw my Ugly Betty Pop figure on my desk (I commissioned it, and it's one of the best gifts I've ever given myself tbh). When she saw it, we spent half of our lunch discussing our favorite scenes. Ugly Betty is essentially my friendship litmus test lol.
Betty is my favorite fictional character of all time, no contest. But I also want to shout out the ensemble because WOW. The entire cast was incredible and hilarious. The show was a true dramedy; I was often in tears, either from laughter or an emotional storyline. Judith Light AND Vanessa Williams? ICONS. Michael Urie and Becki Newton? What a DYNAMIC DUO. Ana Ortiz and Mark Indelicato? PERFECTION. Eric Mabius? The TALENT. Daniel could have easily been such a vacuous character, but Eric gave him a depth that surprised me. Plus, his chemistry with America?? EPIC. I loved Betty and Daniel so much (shout out to the bridge scene in 1x13!).
I often wonder how unhinged I would have been if Tumblr had existed when the show was airing. My enthusiasm over your ask indicates that I would have been absolutely bonkers and loved every minute of it. 😆
If you're interested, this is my favorite Detty fanvid edit and my favorite Detty article. I loved their friendship through season 3 and didn't ship them romantically until about season 4. While watching the ATX reunion panel in 2016, I realized that Eric was also Team Detty, and I so wish we could have seen what happened next!
Anywho, I've rambled enough lol. Thank you so much for giving me a reason to shout about my all-time favorite character/show!! 😁💜

that bi post is interesting- i guess i have a third pov tho. ive seen some people use bi in a "new" way, to mean stuff like "attracted to women and nb people", "to men and nb people" or "attracted to several genders but not necessarily all" and so on, but also to mean, yeah, pan. and ngl thats cool. i think bi's pretty much a neat catchall for multisexuals of all kind, a bit like how queer is a catchall for anyone not cis or straight, and historically bi even used to group ace people too.
i reread your tags three times and actually it seems that we agree- i guess im just tempted to say that while everyone agrees on the meaning of pan, some people however use it differently to reflect their experience better. but unlike most people i dont view it as a bad thing but way more as something great because people can talk about their experience without feeling bound by, well, limits and definitions and blah i guess ? and as a trans person i find this great and important, not transphobic
Hello there,
thank you for sharing your pov.
I mean, the “new” way sure has a lot to do with “in which country you live”. Here, where I live, people is not using bi-pan in any new different way. But I've seen/read certain strange uses online. [the funniest use and also the only one that annoyed me was, time ago, when some weird straight people started to say: “I'm bisexual, but I only like men/women”.... like... what? How that bisexuality works? XD, but anyway, I'm nobody to go as a gender/sexuality police. Pft, I can't even speak English properly in a discussion. xD]. Also, years ago, some weird people started to say that pansexuality included trans people, while bisexuality no, so they kind of enforced the concept that “bisexuality ” had a transphobic root in its own... which is stupid, since statistics shows that trans people has quite more chances to be in a relationship with a bi/pan partner than a gay/hetero one... so.... soooooo......really crazy the way people spread misinformation.
The meaning of the tags... well... it's long: I can't be anything else but chill about the enormous amount of words that LGBT community has crafted along these last years, because sure, we all want to have the exact right word for us, to condense all our complexity in a single word XD. But let's be honest, no way that would happen, ever. So, until people “discovered” [or more like accepted] that gender and sexuality are a spectrum and are more complex than 3 or 4 words, we developed a lot of words along the way, and made use of the same word with several different uses, making of this world a more complex one [because we are never satisfied with our own :P]. And I'm not even counting on the fact of those “re-appropriated” words that were a slur previously, back in time, such as queer. Those words are a whole lot of mess.
Two simple examples:
A friend of mine at work is a bisexual woman [happily married with her wife
Another case: I, for example, feel super weird with labels. I'm nb, I give a fuck to any word of any gender. But I live in a Spanish speaking country and.... the HELL with the strongly gendered languages... I keep jumping from masculine to feminine or using the “new” neutral forms with -e [that all puritans hate and fight me for that]. But still yet, I keep using the word gay [in English, because at least it's more neutral than any other], because for the world, I'm a gender that can't be hidden once I speak [you know, damn voice] and I kind of be attracted to people of the “same” gender that everyone attaches to me [I said it in that way, because I'm more like a demy-gay, but forget to use demisexual here, nobody knows shit XD]. So... the obvious, shortest way, and efficient way to get rid of that problem every time I have to deal with that [aka, some person asks me with a reasonable argument that doesnt make me to toss them away], it's the word gay. But again, not even that means what it usually means, in my case. But again, imagine explaining all this shit, all the time, every time someone asks me with good reasons?. No way, I'll get bored of all that jabber.
So, these 2 single examples are to explain that... well, LGBT identity words, today, are a mess. Especially if you start adding those trans-masculine and trans-feminine and a lot of extra adjectives.... to me it's more confusing to understand what that person truly is, but what it's clear with that is that such person has a complex identity that wants to be acknowledged. So, if I know this, and if it's relevant for some valid [aka non-creepy] reason, I would ask to understand exactly the shade they mean, so I can acknowledge them properly. Because every gender and sexuality is a mess by its own. We will never get one single word that can embrace it wholly. I know some lucky people got it, they are gay, and cis, or trans and hetero and they are super fine with that...and I'm happy for them, they don't need extra explanations for describe their genders and sexualities xD.
That's why my tags were like that. Pansexuality appeared some decades ago [it's a super young word], specially in countries that are not USA [which it is the country that everything usually revolts around, here in tumblr]. Pan is a super new word, that mostly young people would be more inclined to use. It's more meaningful for young people [maybe. This is not a must. More like an average estimation.]
It's like queer. The oldest LGBT people, with USA-background, will probably hate it to use it. They attached to that word a slur shade that pierced their lives, it's too harmful even to use as a re-appropriated word. Yet, young people love it. Specially people without usa-background. Some of them can't even fathom the hard history meaning behind it.
Well, queer word, outside the history, is a whole mess in its own XD. What does a person mean when they say that they are queer? Are they gay? Are they trans? Are they nb? . Nobody knows. And it's ok, the clear meaning in that word is “look, I'm not cis and/or hetero”. And that's the way it works. I like to use it sometimes too, now that it has been popularised in the South hemisphere thanks to the influences of Butler.
So, yeah, we agreed, anon. XDI tried to say the same as you in my messy tags. I wrote that because sometimes I find such a nerdrage about the **chastity** or the **purity** of languages with this mess of words, or the annoyance of people that don't know the 52 labels at our disposal to describe the LGBT experience. And I simply say that it's okay not to know all of that, and not to force or stress into picking one, because most probably, you will not get it completely explained in one single word, since words, despite being 52, are limited, and sexuality and gender is a whole mess with flavours, colours and shits, that—even worse—may change with time xD.
So... the most mature attitude I think someone can take about this mess is to relax about those labels, pick the ones they think fits better for them, and understand that everyone has their own gender/sexuality, and that label may not suffice, so, when it's relevant, it's ALWAYS important to speak honestly. Yeah, all this textwall could never enter into the tags. xD.

I was tagged by @sunsetknowsaboutyou (thanks <3)!
1. your all time favorite bl and why
I Told Sunset About You. It's just soooooo beautiful and the quality of everything is top notch. I love the atmosphere, the cinematography, the camera work (the camera work!), the music, the locations, the acting. It feels like an European independent movie with the best quality. And on top of that, they learn Chinese and the Chinese culture is important for them, which I loooove tremendously.
2. that one bl that scarred you for life
None, sorry :D
3. is there any bl that made you feel very single?
Not really? I don't think so, but I guess I Told Sunset About You is closest to that (it made me feel a lot of things, which is so unusual for me).
4. If you could change one thing from a bl, which one would it be?
No obsession with top/bottom, wife/hubby etc.
5. that one bl you detest (don’t hold back)
Yeah, it's probably HIStory1: Obsessed. I know there are plenty of people who love it, but I just can't with this stupid, pointless scenario and their weird actions. And also... dreaming about your love's funeral and realizing you did something wrong? Huge XD. (And I also think Don't Say No is stupid af.)
6. your top five
It's constantly changing, but as for now (in no particular order):
- I Told Sunset About You
- A Tale of Thousand Stars
- Where Your Eyes Linger
- The Untamed (yes, it's a BL!)
- Bad Buddy
7. that trashy bl that you lowkey like
Hah, it's My Engineer :D I don't think the whole show is trashy, just the main couple is... sadly the worst. But others?! Oh my, they are so precious! Their relationships show trust, honesty, courage, respect, love and also friendship. I adore them so much!
8. your favorite korean bl (it’s important we know)
Of course Where Your Eyes Linger. I just love how they managed to create such a meaningful story within that short running time. Before I started watching that, I was scared they'll ruin this relationship with homophobia (because we all know South Korea), but they created a completely new conflict for those boys (the fact that one of them is almost like a prince and the other one is a bodyguard), which made me see this obstacle as something more important than their genders. I was very surprised, and yes, I know, the dad was probably also homophobic, but... it wasn't the core of this story! And also, I love their chemistry, I love the fact that Gook was so much in love, but he knew he couldn't say that because he's not entirely free, I love the fact that Tae Joo was the first to confess because he is entitled to do so, and I just love every single piece of their relationship development (and the fact that the developmwnt is there!), it's very well done <3 (Sorry for venting, I love this show too much :D)
9. but also your top 3 for kbls
Again, in no prticular order (and it might change in the future):
- Where Your Eyes Linger, haha :D
- To My Star
- Light On Me
10. season 2? which one?
All of them! Okay, I'm joking, but I wish I can see a proper season two of My Engineer (with Ryan and MD :( Boys, please, come baaaack...) And as for a not confirmed season 2, I wish we could get either Where Your Eyes Linger 2 (I am only scared they would somehow ruin the greatness... but can we at least get a special?) or HIStory3: Trapped.
11. a bunch of dramas will air soon. which ones are you the most excited for?
OMG ALL OF THEM?!?!?! Ok, no, I'm overreacting, but those seem to be interesting (out of order again):
- KinnPorshe (obviously!)
- Moonlight Chicken (I am already in love with this series)
- Never Let Me Go (if they'll manage to keep the quality and the atmosphere I might combust)
- Bed Friend (although there's a huge change they'll screw it up)
- Check Out
12. tag them!
I tag everyone who sees this post! :D

OOC WEEK: DAY FOUR
When and how did you get into Harry Potter?: Honestly, HP was one of things where when the films started coming out I saw them, owned the DVDs etc. but I wasn’t hugely obsessed with it? Keep in mind I was 4 when the first film came out so my interests were very different, I was too busy watching Barbie movies and dealing with a new baby sister to be bothered by films in the same way I am now. I continued to get the films and watch them but it wasn’t until I was about 13/14 that the obsession got deep. I think that’s really the age tbh where I needed HP, I needed this idea of magic and this whole other world within our own where things seemed so much better and I needed to be a part of that, and ever since it’s been a growing love tbh. Though I’ll also admit I have a love/hate relationship with HP, for as many things it’s given me there are many things I question or find a little faulty?? If that’s the right word. Basically I feel like HP is my problematic fave of series :’)
Favourite HP movie? Why?: Without a doubt Goblet of Fire. I just love the whole thing, how much new information it gave us about the other schools, the more vivid inclusion of dragons and other magical creatures/beings. Also I love Cedric Diggory, I think he’s such an underrated character and frustratingly he’s only in that one film when he’s mentioned more in the earlier books. I also feel like poor Cedric gets hated on a lot because people think he’s a bit of a dick and forget that the books are basically in Harry’s POV and he’s jealous of Cedric so obviously the way he’s described and viewed is more negative then it needs to be. Basically Cedric deserved better and I love him in that film and the Twi-Wizard Tournament was a cool plot, I think.
Favourite HP book? Why?: I won’t lie, I feel like a sham... I haven’t read all the books, but hear me out on this, as I said earlier I didn’t get into HP until I was about 13/14 and then I started to read the books but then suddenly my GCSE exams were coming up and any reading I did ended up being reading for school and if I did read anything for leisure they were short stories or things that could help towards my GCSE exams. Then I went to college, took English Literature and as you can imagine that meant a lot more reading for school soooooo I never finished the series, I do intend to but I have like a long list of books I want to read/am reading/series I need to finish so who knows when it’ll happen. However, I will say I like the first book, I think the first book is a lovely introduction to the world of HP.
Favourite HP character? Why?: I love Neville. Adore him. Honestly, a part of me would’ve really liked Neville to have even more significance throughout the series, I feel like he played the part of a fool for so long and even though by the Deathly Hallows he’d matured and became a hero I still think he deserved more. I think there’s not a lot of appreciation for young Neville and everything he’s going through, there’s not enough recognition for the fact that he’s in a really difficult family situation and he deals with everything so well, he’s a kid who’s unpopular and not initially great at magic, living knowing his parents were tortured into a state of madness and I feel like not enough of that is appreciated? Plus tbh I think it would’ve been the best plot twist if he were actually the chosen one and Harry was just some diversion and Neville saved the day, I also would’ve liked it if Neville killed Bellatrix tbh or if he’d played more of a part in her demise because of her involvement in making his life extremely difficult.
Least favourite HP character, plot, or ship (or all three)?: My least favourite character is Peter Pettigrew because tbh I just feel like he was a twat and I feel like he was undeserving of being in Gryffindor, undeserving of the friendship he found in that house and undeserving of forgiveness. Plus it really urks me every time I hear Ron tell Harry there wasn’t a Death Eater who wasn’t Slytherin and I’m like “YOU’RE FUCKING RAT IS A GRYFFINDOR TRAITOR, RON!” because I’m very defensive of my house :’) My least favourite plot... erm... I don’t really like the whole sort of plot of Harry in pursuit of Cho Chang? I feel like maybe because she’s another character we hear barely anything of and then suddenly Harry is smitten with her and then not like a year after him and Cho are smooching (in front of Cedric’s picture and the pictures of all the relatives who are dead, which is super like weird in my opinion, like ‘oh poor Cedric, he was a good wizard, he really fancied you and now we should make out in front of his picture’ or maybe not, Harry?) but then he’s suddenly into Ginny and I feel like when his attention turns to Ginny our lovely Cho Chang gets sort of thrown to the side and she becomes unimportant again? Basically I feel like Cho Chang was used as a bit of a tool to make the Harry/Ginny thing more of a ‘surprise’ and she deserved better. My least favourite ship is... erm... I’m gonna be honest and go with Tonks and Remus. Don’t get me wrong I love Tonks, I love Remus and I love we get Teddy from them but I just never saw it? Maybe it’s again because in the films Tonks wasn’t really important for such a long time and then suddenly she shows up and oh by the way she loves Remus and suddenly she’s having a baby? And it’s like ‘woah ok what is happening?’. Plus I just think it’s really lame that JK was ‘going to have Remus be LGBT’ but then chose not to... but still made him a werewolf and used the metaphor which must not be named.
What’s your favourite HP-related memory?: You know one of my favourite HP memories is probably becoming part of the HP RPG community, I feel like I’ve learnt so much more about the series from interacting with other people but, more than that, I’ve heard so many new ideas and own headcanons that, to me, make the whole HP universe so much more interesting... Mainly ‘cause JK left a lot of gaps in information that I desperately need.
Why did you decide to start roleplaying HP-related stuff?: Honestly, I’ve only ever really been part of the HP RPG community and I got into it because a friend of mine was in a group and she told me about it but when I was scrolling the tag I found OL instead and the rest, as they say, is history.
Most interesting part of the HP world?: Erm... I think the creatures, tbh most of the reason I liked Fantastic Beasts was the creatures, I’d happily watch a film of just them in their little homes doing their thing.
Your wand: I’m gonna be honest, I have no idea hahahaha so basically when I first got Pottermore it was so great and fantastic and I loved all my info... then they re-did Pottermore and I couldn’t get my old information back because of an email issue so I made a new account and tbh was bitterly disappointed, the house quiz alone in my opinion is just shit now compared to how it used to be, I literally found out my house and then logged out and haven’t logged in since soooooo I’m not sure what my wand is any more :’)
Your patronus: Again, no idea :’)
Your boggart (if you’re okay sharing!): I’m not really sure what my boggart would be, I’m sort of scared of lots of things tbh, I’m a bit of a wimp so Merlin knows what could come out to greet me, could be just about anything and it’d be too much.
What classes would you be best at in Hogwarts?: Probably potions and arithmancy because I have a lot of patience, like to be precise with things and like working with numbers. Though also possibly divination because I’m learning the Tarots.
What classes would you be the worst at?: Probably History of Magic ‘cause at school I struggled with History XD I loved it, I was just not great at remembering dates and stuff like that.
Your favourite thing to do if you were at Hogwarts: The library. Guaranteed.
Favourite supernatural creature from the HP world?: I actually think dementors are like super cool and an awesome idea... though it’s gotta be a niffler, hasn’t it?
Death Eaters or the Order?: I like to think I’d be part of the poor Slytherin group who when shit went down got blamed for everything when they didn’t do anything like ‘send all of Slytherin back to the dungeons’ and I’m stood there like ‘all I’ve one is read all these years’. Tbh I like both groups though, like although the DEs are obviously insane nutters I think some of them are super interesting and a lot of them are products of their families and how they were treated by other people, like is it really a surprise Draco becomes a ‘DE’ when you think of who his family is and how everyone in Hogwarts hated on Slytherin anyway??
Marauders era or Next Gen?: Marauders.
Would you join the quidditch team or cheer from the sidelines?: Ngl I don’t really like sports so I’d probably be in the library, chilling with a book like “siighhh these athletic types”.
If the Triwizard Tournament were allowed, would you put your name in?: Not a fucking chance.
Dorm life: good or bad?: Erm... I dunno, I feel like tbh I’d be a pain to live with or find other people a pain to live with because I’m very organised and neat and space lacking that would drive me crazy.
From canon HP, who would be your favourite teacher?: Flitwick, without a doubt.
If you could make J.K Rowling write another series (and write it well), would you? And if so, what would you have it focus on?: I’d have it focus on minor characters and what they were doing while Harry was getting into shit, like I’m all for big plots and death but think how much just daily random stuff must happen in a magic school? Like give me a series on the rest of the Gryffindor dorm and what they were doing during the year. Give me a book series about Luna, Cho Chang, Oliver Wood etc.
