IPTV M3U: How to Get the Best M3U Playlists
Tumblr media
Imagine being able to watch your favorite shows and channels without ever having to pay a cable subscription. M3U playlists on IPTV have been known to gain momentum in this regard, growing in massive leaps and bounds—rivaling even Netflix and Hotstar.
If you love movies, sports, or new shows, IPTV M3U playlists will change your TV experience. Such playlists grant access to an immense number of free channels from your phone, tablet, or smart TV. Of course, the real challenge is in finding the right IPTV M3U download. In this comprehensive guide, we will cover the entire process—from finding playlists to setting them up, and even staying on the right side of IPTV legality.
Key Takeaways:
Popularity: In recent times, IPTV using M3U playlists has surged in popularity.
Global Streaming: With an M3U URL, you can stream any channel from literally every part of the world on a player that supports IPTV.
Regional Options: There are region-specific playlists; for Canada alone, there’s the Ontario-123, among others.
Reliability: Paid services of M3U URLs mostly offer better reliability and quality of streams.
Updates: Forums and websites like Telegram and Reddit provide up-to-date information on M3U playlists.

Okay! So, I decided to go ahead and go through the sources linked by @aliciabenissa on this post. Mostly because I really hate when people try and debate the literal definitions of words with me. @radkindoffeminist I thought you may also be interested in this since you commented on this post. Before beginning, I want to reiterate again that non-academic sources are still useful rhetorical devices. Essays, speeches, anecdotal evidence, and other sources have a role to play in both academic and non-academic discourse. It is disingenuous however to pass off an non-academic source as academic (and it is also a rising problem within many academic fields). First source (McKee, 2007a) used a self-selection survey sample of about 1000 people, 82% of whom were male. I had to go to a separate article (McKee, 2007b) to get that statistic. Additionally, the response rate to this survey was only 7.3% (very low). Further, this article is concerned exclusively with the effects of pornography on porn consumers, entirely neglecting the industry itself. The ultimate conclusion of this study is that people who consume pornography tend to think it benefits them positively. This is unsurprising, considering we tend to avoid ego-dystonic behaviors. In fact, previous experiments have shown that we tend to adapt or world-views to fit our behaviors, so as to avoid cognitive dissonance. Nonetheless, this source was an academic source. The second source (Orlowski, 2012) is not an academic source. It was published in the “Modern American” a student run, non-peer reviewed publication at the American University Washington College of Law. This is not a study, meta-analysis, or or review article, and is best characterized as a position paper. I don’t want to get too far into the content of the paper, but suffice to say, the paper argues that non-obscene pornography is protected under the first amendment. Curiously, the author posits that the current definition of obscenity is a reliable measure for deciding what pornography should be allowed, despite the definition of obscenity being notoriously unreliable and obscure. The third source (Friedersdorf, 2016) is also not an academic source. It is essentially an opinion essay published in The Atlantic. The main argument used is based on population studies, a methodology challenged in this study (Kingston & Malamuth, 2011), which you will note, is an actual peer reviewed academic article. The fourth source (Diamond, 2009) is academic! It’s also challenged by the same paper mentioned above (Kingston & Malamuth, 2011). The other main finding of this work is that people only want porn to be restricted from children, and think it’s fine to have available. Again, I don’t find the fact that porn consumers believe porn is fine to be surprising (see the discussion of the first source above). This article is also entirely focused on consumers. The fifth source (Pornography, n.d.) is a Psychology Today article that references the fourth source. Along with a study similar to the first source (McKee, 2007a). The same criticisms clearly apply. Nevertheless, the authors of that particular study (Hald & Malamuth, 2008) actually take the time to point out these problems with such a study design, and explain how the survey results actually support the arguments about desensitization, which is common component of anti-porn arguments. Source six (5 Reasons Watching Porn Together Can Be Good for Your Marriage, 2013) is a HuffPost article. It is not academic. The ideas presented are inane at best, and offensive at worst. Source seven (Moyer, n.d.) is also not an academic article. It is published in Scientific American which is a popular science magazine. The studies and arguments used in this article have already been debunked above. Source eight (Park, 2010) references source four (Diamond, 2009). It’s also not an academic source, as it is published in Time which is a magazine. The article also take an anti-pornography stance, describing the results as “provocative” ultimately unreliable and problematic. Source nine (McCormack & Wignall, 2017) is an academic source with a small sample size (n=35) of all men. It again is entirely concerned with the consumers of pornography, and relies on self-report of positive/negative effects. I explained how this is a flawed methodology in my discussion of source one (McKee, 2007a). I cannot verify if source ten (Wasserman, 1996) is an academic source or not. Based on what I’m able to access it looks like a position paper. Source eleven (Why Criminalizing Rape Porn Is a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Idea, 2014) is non academic. It is an opinion article in an “Internet Newspaper” called The Daily Dot. It’s entirely an appeal to emotion and references several of the above debunked arguments. Source twelve (Prause & Pfaus, 2015) is academic. It’s also about whether or not men who view porn experience erectile dysfunction, which, frankly, isn’t one of my main concerns about the sex industry. Since I know this is the only reason why some men will stop watching porn however: the study’s findings are strongly rebuked in a subsequent comment (Isenberg, 2015) that lays out several methodological and analytical problems found in the report. The final source (The 8 Best Sites to Watch Ethical, Fair Trade Porn, 2017) is not academic. It’s another opinion article with no sources (but plenty of links to porn sites) on The Daily Dot (the same as source eleven). It barely presents an argument at all, so I’ll just link you to my posts on how porn cannot be legal because it doesn’t comply to OSHA and a short opinion post on the violence inherent to porn. So, in summary: 8 out of 13 sources are non-academic, 4 out of 13 sources are academic (2 of which are directly challenged and all four of which have significant methodological issues), and 1 source is unknown. Of the twelve sources I verified, they were all entirely concerned with pornography consumers; neglecting “sex workers” altogether. (Hopefully, I don’t need to spell out why that’s a problem.) And @aliciabenissa I genuinely hope you aren’t sending sources like this to your supervisors and calling them academic. I strongly suggest using databases from your library or institution (such as ulrichsweb) to verify the legitimacy of sources.
A reminder for everyone that I have several essay posts discussing literature on the sex industry in my “sex industry” tag. This post may be a nice place to start for literature on how porn affects the consumer and I challenge other pro-porn articles in this post. Also take a look at this post for a nice summary article on the nordic model.

As millions of people across the country take to the streets and raise their voices in response to the killing of George Floyd and the ongoing problem of unequal justice, many people have reached out asking how we can sustain momentum to bring about real change.
Ultimately, it’s going to be up to a new generation of activists to shape strategies that best fit the times. But I believe there are some basic lessons to draw from past efforts that are worth remembering.
First, the waves of protests across the country represent a genuine and legitimate frustration over a decades-long failure to reform police practices and the broader criminal justice system in the United States. The overwhelming majority of participants have been peaceful, courageous, responsible, and inspiring. They deserve our respect and support, not condemnation — something that police in cities like Camden and Flint have commendably understood.
On the other hand, the small minority of folks who’ve resorted to violence in various forms, whether out of genuine anger or mere opportunism, are putting innocent people at risk, compounding the destruction of neighborhoods that are often already short on services and investment and detracting from the larger cause. I saw an elderly black woman being interviewed today in tears because the only grocery store in her neighborhood had been trashed. If history is any guide, that store may take years to come back. So let’s not excuse violence, or rationalize it, or participate in it. If we want our criminal justice system, and American society at large, to operate on a higher ethical code, then we have to model that code ourselves.
Second, I’ve heard some suggest that the recurrent problem of racial bias in our criminal justice system proves that only protests and direct action can bring about change, and that voting and participation in electoral politics is a waste of time. I couldn’t disagree more. The point of protest is to raise public awareness, to put a spotlight on injustice, and to make the powers that be uncomfortable; in fact, throughout American history, it’s often only been in response to protests and civil disobedience that the political system has even paid attention to marginalized communities. But eventually, aspirations have to be translated into specific laws and institutional practices— and in a democracy, that only happens when we elect government officials who are responsive to our demands.
Moreover, it’s important for us to understand which levels of government have the biggest impact on our criminal justice system and police practices. When we think about politics, a lot of us focus only on the presidency and the federal government. And yes, we should be fighting to make sure that we have a president, a Congress, a U.S. Justice Department, and a federal judiciary that actually recognize the ongoing, corrosive role that racism plays in our society and want to do something about it. But the elected officials who matter most in reforming police departments and the criminal justice system work at the state and local levels.
It’s mayors and county executives that appoint most police chiefs and negotiate collective bargaining agreements with police unions. It’s district attorneys and state’s attorneys that decide whether or not to investigate and ultimately charge those involved in police misconduct. Those are all elected positions. In some places, police review boards with the power to monitor police conduct are elected as well. Unfortunately, voter turnout in these local races is usually pitifully low, especially among young people — which makes no sense given the direct impact these offices have on social justice issues, not to mention the fact that who wins and who loses those seats is often determined by just a few thousand, or even a few hundred, votes.
So the bottom line is this: if we want to bring about real change, then the choice isn’t between protest and politics. We have to do both. We have to mobilize to raise awareness, and we have to organize and cast our ballots to make sure that we elect candidates who will act on reform.
Finally, the more specific we can make demands for criminal justice and police reform, the harder it will be for elected officials to just offer lip service to the cause and then fall back into business as usual once protests have gone away. The content of that reform agenda will be different for various communities. A big city may need one set of reforms; a rural community may need another. Some agencies will require wholesale rehabilitation; others should make minor improvements. Every law enforcement agency should have clear policies, including an independent body that conducts investigations of alleged misconduct. Tailoring reforms for each community will require local activists and organizations to do their research and educate fellow citizens in their community on what strategies work best.
But as a starting point, here’s a report and toolkit developed by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and based on the work of the Task Force on 21st Century Policing that I formed when I was in the White House. And if you’re interested in taking concrete action, we’ve also created a dedicated site at the Obama Foundation to aggregate and direct you to useful resources and organizations who’ve been fighting the good fight at the local and national levels for years.
I recognize that these past few months have been hard and dispiriting — that the fear, sorrow, uncertainty, and hardship of a pandemic have been compounded by tragic reminders that prejudice and inequality still shape so much of American life. But watching the heightened activism of young people in recent weeks, of every race and every station, makes me hopeful. If, going forward, we can channel our justifiable anger into peaceful, sustained, and effective action, then this moment can be a real turning point in our nation’s long journey to live up to our highest ideals.
Let’s get to work.

This article reviews the nutrients, advantages, and downsides of buttermilk and tells you how to make substitutes for keep-sold types. What is buttermilk? The call buttermilk is particularly deceptive, as it doesn’t incorporate butter. Traditional buttermilk is the liquid leftover after whole milk has been churned into butter. This sort of buttermilk is not often determined in western international locations nowadays but remains common in components of nepal, pakistan, and india. Buttermilk these days consists in the main of water, the milk sugar lactose, and the milk protein casein. It's been pasteurized and homogenized, and lactic-acid-generating bacteria cultures have been introduced, which may also include lactococcus lactis or lactobacillus bulgaricus. Lactic acid will increase the acidity of the buttermilk and prevents unwanted bacterial increase, which extends its shelf life. It also gives buttermilk its barely bitter taste, which is a result of the micro organism fermenting lactose, the primary sugar in milk (1). Buttermilk is thicker than milk. When the micro organism within the beverage produce lactic acid, the ph level is reduced, and casein, the number one protein in milk, solidifies. When the ph is reduced, the buttermilk curdles and thickens. That is due to the fact a lower ph makes the buttermilk more acidic. The ph scale degrees from 0 to fourteen, with zero being the most acidic. Cow’s milk has a ph of 6. 7–6. Nine, as compared with 4. 4–4. Eight for buttermilk. Summary modern-day buttermilk is a elegant, fermented dairy product often used in baking. It consists of micro organism that make it bitter and thicker than regular milk. Buttermilk nutrients buttermilk packs a whole lot of vitamins right into a small serving. One cup (245 ml) of cultured buttermilk offers the subsequent vitamins:

fitness blessings of buttermilk buttermilk may provide numerous health benefits, such as progressed blood strain and bone and oral fitness. Can be less complicated to digest than different dairy merchandise the lactic acid in buttermilk can make its lactose content easier to digest. Lactose is the natural sugar in dairy products. Many human beings are lactose intolerant, which means that they don’t have the enzyme wished to break down this sugar. Approximately sixty five% of human beings international broaden some degree of lactose intolerance after infancy (3). A few people with lactose intolerance can drink cultured dairy products with few to no facet effects, as the lactose is damaged down by means of the bacteria (4trusted source). May additionally guide robust bones buttermilk is a great supply of calcium and phosphorus, in addition to diet d if it's been fortified. Full-fat types are also rich in nutrition k2 (5trusted supply, 6trusted supply). Those vitamins are crucial for preserving bone energy and stopping degenerative bone illnesses like osteoporosis, however many human beings don’t get sufficient of them (7trusted source, 8trusted source, 9, 10trusted supply). A 5-yr take a look at in humans elderly thirteen–ninety nine observed that people with phosphorus intakes 2three times better than the recommended nutritional allowance of seven hundred mg in line with day elevated their bone mineral density by using 2. 1% and bone mineral content material by means of four. 2% (8trusted source). Better consumption of phosphorus-wealthy foods become also related to higher calcium intake. Consuming extra calcium and phosphorus was connected to a forty five% decrease standard risk of osteoporosis amongst adults with everyday blood ranges of those two minerals (8trusted supply). There is also emerging evidence that diet k2 is beneficial for bone fitness and treating osteoporosis, specially in aggregate with diet d. Vitamin k2 promotes bone formation and prevents bone breakdown (11trusted supply, 12trusted source). Can also improve oral health periodontitis is the inflammation of your gums and assisting structures of your tooth. It’s a very commonplace circumstance and resulting from periodontal bacteria. Fermented dairy products like buttermilk may additionally have anti-inflammatory consequences at the skin cells that line your mouth (13trusted supply). The intake of calcium from fermented dairy meals has been related to a sizeable reduction of periodontitis. Nondairy meals don’t seem to have this impact (14trusted supply, 15trusted source, 16trusted supply). This may be in particular helpful for humans who've oral infection due to radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or crohn’s sickness (13trusted supply, 17trusted supply). May additionally assist lower your cholesterol levels
in a small eight-week have a look at in 34 adults, consuming 45 grams, or approximately 1/five cup, of reconstituted buttermilk (buttermilk powder mixed with water) day by day decreased general ldl cholesterol and triglycerides via 3% and 10%, respectively, compared with a placebo (18trusted source). Furthermore, individuals who began the have a look at with multiplied ldl (awful) cholesterol levels observed a three% discount on this form of cholesterol (18trusted source). Sphingolipid compounds in buttermilk may be chargeable for this effect by inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol to your gut. Sphingolipids are part of the milk fats globule membrane (mfgm) in buttermilk (18trusted source). Connected to decrease blood pressure stages a few evidence indicates that buttermilk can also assist decrease your blood strain. In a observe in 34 human beings with normal blood stress, ingesting buttermilk daily decreased systolic blood strain (the top wide variety) by means of 2. 6 mm hg, imply arterial blood stress by using 1. 7 mm hg, and plasma angiotensin-i converting enzyme with the aid of 10. Nine%, in comparison with a placebo (19). Mean arterial blood pressure is the common stress in someone’s arteries for the duration of one heartbeat, whereas plasma angiotensin-i changing enzyme facilitates manipulate blood pressure by means of regulating fluid quantity to your frame (19). Although those results are encouraging, extra research is needed.
Summary
buttermilk is a good source of nutrients and minerals which can be recognised to assist hold sturdy bones. It also contains compounds that could improve oral and heart health. Downsides of buttermilk buttermilk may also have several downsides associated with its salt content material and capacity to motive allergic reactions in some people. May be high in sodium milk products contain desirable amounts of sodium, making it crucial to check the vitamins label in case you need to limit your sodium consumption. Ingesting a whole lot of sodium is related to an expanded threat of excessive blood strain, in particular amongst folks who are salt sensitive. High blood pressure is a hazard issue for heart disease (20trusted supply). For those who are sensitive to dietary salt, high-sodium diets can harm the coronary heart, kidneys, brain, and blood vessels (21trusted source). Low-sodium ingredients are described as having one hundred forty mg of sodium or less consistent with serving. In evaluation, 1 cup (240 ml) of buttermilk can percent 300–500 mg of this nutrient. Significantly, decrease-fat buttermilk often contains even greater sodium than higher-fat versions (2trusted supply, 22trusted source). May additionally purpose allergies or digestive troubles in some human beings buttermilk contains lactose, a natural sugar to which many humans are illiberal. Although buttermilk appears to be extra easily digested by using some humans with lactose intolerance, many can also nonetheless be sensitive to its lactose content material. Signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance include disappointed stomach, diarrhea, and gasoline. Folks that are allergic to take advantage of — in preference to illiberal — must no longer consume buttermilk in any respect. Milk allergy can purpose vomiting, wheezing, hives, disenchanted stomach, and even anaphylaxis in some human beings (23). Precis a few buttermilk can be high in salt and incorporate compounds like lactose, which may be complex for some humans. How to make buttermilk substitutes if buttermilk isn’t to be had otherwise you opt to use something else, there are numerous substitutions.
Acidified buttermilk
to make acidified buttermilk, you want milk and an acid. When the 2 are mixed, the milk curdles. Acidified buttermilk may be made the use of dairy milk of any fats content material. It may additionally be made with nondairy milk options, along with soy, almond, or cashew milk. Acids like lemon juice, white vinegar, or apple cider vinegar work well. The ratio is 1 cup (240 ml) of milk to one tablespoon (15 ml) of acid. Lightly blend the two substances and permit the mixture sit for five–10 mins until it starts to curdle. Plain yogurt like buttermilk, undeniable yogurt is a fermented dairy product. You may use simple yogurt as an alternative for buttermilk in baking at a 1:1 ratio. If the recipe calls for 1 cup (240 ml) of buttermilk, you can replacement 1 cup (240 ml) of yogurt. Cream of tartar cream of tartar is a byproduct of wine manufacturing. It’s an acid generally utilized in baking as a leavening agent. That is due to the fact combining cream of tartar and baking soda produces carbon dioxide gasoline. Blend 1 cup (240 ml) of milk and 1 3/4 teaspoons (6 grams) of cream of tartar and allow it sit for a couple of minutes. To prevent the combination from getting lumpy, mix the cream of tartar with a few tablespoons of milk before adding it to the relaxation of the milk. Precis several substitutions can be made for buttermilk in baking. Many use a combination of an acid and both dairy or nondairy milk. The bottom line buttermilk is a dairy product rich in vitamins and minerals that may offer numerous advantages to your bones, coronary heart, and oral fitness. Still, it is able to reason troubles for people with lactose intolerance or a milk allergy. In case you tolerate dairy, buttermilk is a awesome and versatile addition to a healthful food plan.

Understanding Soil Basics
Some recent, introductory horticulture projects have brought my attention to the regenerative nature of ecosystems. One of the most basic and important aspects of plant cultivation is the health of the soil. Good soil is alive, an ecosystem unto itself. Industrial agriculture (and plenty of horticulture) functions with a narrow and exploitative understanding/prioritization of the soil ecosystem--a holdover of colonialism, now built into capitalism, excused out of desperation. Our reliance on synthetic fertilizers, destructive tilling practices, excessive pesticides/herbicides/fungicides, monoculture “efficiency,” and deforestation (for more monocultures!) has resulted in abysmal global soil quantity and fertility levels, largely related to loss of biodiversity in and around the soil ecosystem. Now climate and agriculture experts predict our soils can produce approximately 60 more harvests. Speaking of which, check this out:
Tumblr media
So I’m learning about soil. Not just because I’ll need to in order to help a community enjoy food security, but also because... I dunno, I just really like it. Putting my fingers in some dirt feels good and right. Currently I’m reading The Ultimate Guide to Soil by Anna Hes, and I’m summarizing important content as I go back and review sections (especially stuff I know I’ll want to reference later). Rewriting it helps me remember it, so I’ll be dumping that stuff here. along with any extra research I wind up doing in the process. As I work my way through the sections of the book, I’ll make more posts!
First up: Understanding Soil Basics...
Healthy soil is dark with humus. Humus is stable organic matter that’s decomposed into a mix of waxes and lignins, held together by microbial gums and starches, and loaded with nitrogen. Humus bonds readily to heavy metals and excess elements/nutrients, too, thus improving food safety. Organic decomposition into humus even increases carbon dioxide near the soil’s surface, which stimulates plant growth.
“Wild” plant growth can reveal aspects of soil health. Since weeds often thrive in low-nutrient soils and are less susceptible to diseases and pests (since they grew based on what was appropriate for the soil/area), observing them may make it easier to filter out non soil-related variables in overall garden health/output. Of course, these correlations tend to be region-specific and don’t indicate much by themselves. Regular tending is the best prevention, but some general weed-to-soil conditions are as follows:
Nitrogen-fixing plants thrive in low-fertility soil (legumes, dandelions, nettles, comfrey, horsetails, watercress, parsley, plantains, chamomile, chickweed, autumn olives, alders, temperate list here).
Sedges (Cyperaseae grass-like flowering plants with triangular cross-stems) and rushes (Juncaceae grass-like erect stems with tufted tops) thrive in wet, waterlogged soil.
Mosses thrive in damp, shady, compacted, low-fertility/nutrient, and/or acidic soil (pH < 7).
Pfeiffer (found reliable) claims acidic soils (pH < 7) are often linked to poor drainage and tend to grow sorrels, docks, fingerleaf weeds, lady’s thumb, horsetail, hawkweed, and knapweed.
Pfeiffer claims crusted or hardpan soils tend to grow field mustard, horse nettle, penny cress, morning glory, quackgrass, chamomile, and pineapple weed.
Pfeiffer claims overcultivated soils with excess nitrogen tend to grow lamb’s quarter, plantain, chickweed, buttercup, dandelion, nettle, prostrate knotweed, prickly lettuce, field speedwell, rough pigweed, common horeground, celandine, mallow, carpetweed, and thistles.
Soil order relates to the origins of a region’s soil:
Tumblr media
*It seems notable that the author focuses on a soil region’s “agricultural” use. A soil’s agricultural value doesn’t necessarily relate to its cultivation prospects. On the contrary, if Oxisols in Hawai’i and Puerto Rico can support indigenous cultures and hosts of wildlife with lush year-round vegetation, then perhaps agriculture isn’t the most reasonable, sustainable, or appropriate means of obtaining food from the land.
Note, regional soil is more than just regional bedrock. It also contains naturally and unnaturally imported soils, like sand used for human developments sand or windblown silt (loess).

Soil texture relates to the various sizes and types of particles in a soil sample. The three soil particle types are clay (smallest), silt (mid-size), and sand (largest).
Sandy soils can be useful for early growth and for root veggies that excel at pushing through tough earth, but water flushes through too quickly to maintain hydration, and big dry pores make it easy for microbes to churn too quickly through organic matter additives, leaving no time for humus to form. Try no-till gardening in sandy soils and add heavy mulches and bio-char. In areas with droughted, sandy soil, try sunken pit gardens.
Clay soils have small particles and therefore small pores, causing a tendency to drain poorly and clump up when worked too wet or too dry. However, the small particles bond readily to nutrients better than do sand or silt. Clay gardens can be quite productive, albeit damp and heavy. Adding organic matter helps create larger aggregates and therefore more pore variety, thus improving air and water circulation. Try raised beds.
Silt soils can appear similar to clay soils on the microscopic level, and their medium particle size has its benefits. However, silt soils aren’t sticky like clay, so erosion is often an issue. Utilize cover crops and/or mulch.
Loamy soils are the ideal texture because they contain relatively balanced quantities of the three particle types. Adding compost, mulch, and cover crops to sandy, clayey, or silty soils improves diversity of particle, aggregate, and pore sizes; increases overall water retention while providing balanced aeration; creates balanced microbial activity; and provides nutrients. Simply blending the 3 soils textures together does not yield the same results and is a resource-intensive process.
Tumblr media
(Check out comparisons here.)
Moistening and manipulating the soil makes it easier to identify. In the ribbon test outlined below by the Australian Department of Primary Industries, if a ribbon is unable to form then soil contents are sand or loamy sand. If the ribbon is less than an inch, its contents are loam, silt, silt loam, or sandy loam. If the ribbon is 1 to 2 inches, it’s sandy clay loam, silty clay loam, or clay loam. If the ribbon makes it up to 2 or more, it’s made of sandy clay, silty clay, or clay.
Tumblr media
To perform a jar test, pour one-part soil and two-parts water in a clear jar. Separate aggregates by lidding and shaking vigorously, before allowing the particles to settle at the bottom for at least 24hrs. The largest, heaviest particles are sand and will sink to the bottom. Small, light clay particles remain at the top, while silt rests in the middle.
Tumblr media
Measure the thickness of each layer and calculate the percentage of sand, silt, and clay using a soil triangle (or enter calculations here).
Tumblr media
Online soil surveys like https://websoilsurvey.sc.egov.usda.gov/App/HomePage.htm are also available.
Soil aggregates clump together as soil particles (waxes, minerals, lignins) interact with the weather, organisms, and each other. Soil aggregates vary in size depending on their circumstances. A sandy texture of mostly uniform aggregates suggests the soil sample consists primarily of its original mineral particles. It lacks organic content, including vegetal, fungal, insect, and microbial activity. Without this variety of shapes, sizes, pores, or biological activity, the particles don’t hold moisture and provide no avenues for soakage. Meanwhile, a chunky texture with large aggregates, hard clods, and/or a thick crust suggest soil compaction, again resulting in a loss of bio-pores. These issues are often man-made, resulting from excessive tilling, or from tilling/harvesting/planting in wet/dry soil, all of which break down natural soil aggregates. A healthy soil texture contains a variety of aggregate sizes, thus supporting a variety of pores. Ideally, good soil texture no longer requires tilling for the purposes of artificial pores. The best solutions are to increase organic matter, especially compost; introduce cover crops to create pores, attract biological activity, hold moisture, and prevent leaching/erosion; and reduce tilling.
Soil color reveals clues about soil health, too. Heavy rainfall soaks through paling topsoil and pulls clay and nutrients into the darkening subsoil. This separation of soils may call for a season of deep-rooted cover crops to bring nutrients back to the surface, hold soils together, and add organic matter. Grey or whitish soil (gley) in waterlogged areas indicates soils high in iron. The loss of oxygen leaves iron colorless and soil color visible. Patchwork grey and brown suggests waterlogging during part of the year which has now drained and regained some color. (Note, anaerobic activity releases hydrogen sulfide for a tell-tale swampy odor. Mounding up soil can help in waterlogged areas. Try a percolation test, first.)
While loamy soils are dark with humus, soil color is also heavily affected by mineral content:
Tumblr media
Know your minerals. Iron oxides, sodium, and calcium can disrupt soil structure or kill plants outright.
Professional soil tests may be necessary if learning about and adapting to your soil doesn’t seem to increase fertility. All testing centers have their own requirements for collecting and sending samples, and not all labs offer the same types of tests. Unfortunately, most soil tests don’t look for heavy metals like arsenic, cadmium, copper, lead, nickel, selenium, or zinc. But this one does!
Soil pH describes a measure of potential (/power/percentage) concentration of hydrogen ions in a sample. The higher the number on a scale of 0.0 to 14.0, the fewer number of hydrogen ions available in the soil. Soils with a pH under 7.0 are have more hydrogen ions, making them acidic or “sour.” Soils with a pH over 7.0 have fewer hydrogen ions, making them alkaline, “basic,” or “sweet.” (Note, while a soil pH of 7.0 is considered neutral, a slightly acidic range from 6.0 to 7.0 is considered ideal for most garden soils.) Hydrogen concentration affects the mobility and availability of nutrients to plants and the structure of the soil itself due to the interactions between mostly negatively charged soil particles (anions) and mostly positively charged nutrient particles (cations). (Note, not all soil ions are anions and not all nutrient ions are cations, but many of the most important nutrients like calcium, magnesium, potassium, and hydrogen are cations.)
Cation-exchange capacity (CEC) is the amount of positive charge (most major nutrients) that can be exchanged per mass of soil. Specifically, the CEC of a soil sample measures how many nutrients can be retained on soil particle surfaces. CEC levels are higher in soils rich in organic matter and clay because these negatively charged particles have more surface area to attract positively charged nutrients. Therefore, CEC levels also indicate the soil’s quantity of negatively charged ions. Soils with a low CEC are low in organic matter and clay, and therefore nutrients won’t readily magnetize to the soil particles, leaving them to leach away from plant roots whenever water passes through. Furthermore, different nutrients have different quantities of protons and electrons and thus different bond strengths. With its neutral charge, hydrogen has the lowest cation, and so it tends to bond with soils only if there aren’t enough other cations available. Higher hydrogen bonds means there aren’t enough other cations bonding with the soil anions, resulting in lower pH and higher acidity. Ideally, hydrogen only fills “excess” bonds and otherwise moves freely in the water. For example, adding lime (calcium carbonate) to soil introduces more calcium, which has a stronger charge and thus can knock hydrogen ions loose from soil particles. Loosed hydrogen bonds with the carbon in the lime, producing H2O and CO2, which washes readily out of the soil and leaves it more alkaline than before.
Organic matter is a vital part of healthy, fertile soil. Diseases, fungi, poor water retention, and even pests are less likely to cause problems in healthy, living soils rich in decomposing organic matter. While small/weak plants can often be attributed to low nitrogen or improper pH, both issues tend to be caused by a paucity of organic matter. Nitrogen gets used up/washed away in the dirt quickly, but decomposing matter releases nitrogen constantly, slowly and steadily feeding plants and microbes alike. Soils need only be composed of around 5% organic matter to produce around 100lbs of available nitrogen per acre, per year. Perfect for veggie gardens.
Organic matter breaks down faster in hot, sandy soils, so it’s harder to sustain healthy levels and may require more. Organic matter is so active in cooler climates that the slower decomposition produces less nitrogen, and so faster-acting nitrogen amendments (diluted urine, compost tea, etc) may be necessary.
While soil’s cation exchange capacity only concerns positively-charged nutrient ions, the organic matter used to increase these nutrients will also improve soil’s ability to attain and hold onto negatively charged nutrient particles, too. Good soils have a CEC of at least 11 mEq/100 g. A milliequivalent is 1/1000th an equivalent, which is the measurement of the number of ions needed to total a specific quantity of electrical charges in another substance (100 grams of soil). These CEC levels may be difficult to attain, as they’re affected by ratios of passive, slow, and active organic matter:
Passive organic matter is very stable and takes a long time to decompose, sometimes hundreds or thousands of years. This includes the “browns” in compost, like the cellulose, lignin, and even charcoal of woody debris. Fungi and bacteria convert these into the humic substances in humus. Lingering passive organic matter affects texture and helps the soil water nutrients and prevent nutrient leaching, making it vital for maintaining CEC levels. Tough-stemmed cover crops are helpful.
Slow organic matter includes finely divided plant tissues high in lignin and other materials that take decades to decompose. These provide “slow-release” nitrogen and other nutrients, and feed the soil microbes that affect the breakdown of active organic matter.
Active organic matter breaks down readily into nitrogen and other nutrients. This includes the “greens” in compost, which provide sugar, starches, and proteins. They have high carbon-to-nitrogen ratios and break down within a few months to a few years. Decomposition of active organic matter also feeds the microbes that help determine aggregate variability and therefore soil texture. AOM includes living biomass, detritus, most of the polysaccharides, non-humic substances, and the more readily decomposed fulvic acid.
Sustainable soil amendments of organic matter (especially nitrogen) essentially run in two phases: development and maintenance. Development consists of adding large quantities of slow-acting organic matter, including burying logs and other organic debris; extensive cover cropping for the added biology, interactivity, and green compost; and at least an inch of compost before every planting. Depending on soil conditions at the outset, it can take anywhere from 2 to 10 years to reach the maintenance stage. At this point, maintaining around 5% organic matter in the soil just requires adding enough to replace whatever’s lost to decomposition each year—that is, approximately 2,000lbs (one cubic yard) per acre. A well-planned garden can eliminate wasteful amendments around low feeders (beans, peas) and ensure greater quantities for heavy feeders (squashes, tomatoes, garlic, bananas). Whew! This post may be updated as I amend relevant info for my own records.

DiEM 25:  Technological Sovereignty: Democratising Technology and Innovation
*That’s some platform.
What is DiEM25?
DiEM25 is a pan-European, cross-border movement of democrats.
We believe that the European Union is disintegrating. Europeans are losing their faith in the possibility of European solutions to European problems. At the same time as faith in the EU is waning, we see a rise of misanthropy, xenophobia and toxic nationalism.
If this development is not stopped, we fear a return to the 1930s. That is why we have come together despite our diverse political traditions - Green, radical left, liberal - in order to repair the EU. The EU needs to become a realm of shared prosperity, peace and solidarity for all Europeans. We must act quickly, before the EU disintegrates.

Annex 1: DiEM25 Guiding Principles on Technology Policy 24
3
1. Introduction: For Democracy to Be Possible, Technology Must Be Democratised.
Technology Is Essential
Our civilisation heavily depends on technology. Technology provides us with the possibility to feed more than 7.5 billion people, to prevent or cure sickness, to multiply social and cultural interaction and creation, to care for those in need, to learn and teach more, to provide safety and security and to improve the quality of life and increase happiness in many ways for all.
But it is only that: a possibility. Not a certainty, and, today, often not a reality.
DiEM25 is the one political movement that wants to create, shape and drive political debate and democratic process around technology, based on the concept of Technological Sovereignty. Technological Sovereignty in our definition means the right and capacity by citizens and democratic institutions to make self-determined choices on technologies and innovation.
Why? Because technology affects us all, and all of us, not just a powerful few, must have a voice in its development. For DiEM25, it is clear that without the introduction of technological sovereignty through the democrati- sation of technology, democracy itself is no longer possible.
The examples are manifold. We see monopolistic digital platform providers with tremendous powers to shape what we see, who we hear from or how we think, without any democratic accountability for that power. We be- come subject to automated decision-making, wrongly labeled “artificial intelligence”, functioning as a black box without any transparency or accountability.
But there’s more. We see how the costs of technology’s development and its usage are socialised, but the benefits are privatised to a very small group. We see how decisions on technological development are made by powerful, unaccountable private actors, and kept away from transparent and public debate.
Research and innovation must be beneficial for society and the prosperity of mankind. We must fight the absurd notion that the purpose of innovation is to make rich investors richer still.
We believe that start-ups and entrepreneurial process should not solely depend on venture capital and other financialisation schemes. The purpose of innovation is not only the aggregation of capital. To approach long-term solutions, we’ll need sustainable public funding and the democratic inclusion of citizens.
And we are told that we can change everything at any time, as long as we play by the rules of the status quo and come up with the next “disruptive” innovation by ourselves. But these rules do not allow us to put common goals first — and they exclude democratic participation by design.
DiEM25 has a different vision. We know innovation can be beneficial to all. We want to end the practice of social- ising the costs and privatising the profits from technological change. Instead, we want to foster innovations for the common good. We want to see an inclusive innovation ecosystem where all stakeholders, such as users, employees, citizens, and authorities are equally important. An inclusive system where women and other historically marginalised communities are empowered to actively participate in shaping our common technological future. A system in which society as a whole benefits from the liberated energy of socially responsible and democratically accountable entrepreneurs who are no longer shackled by the financialisation of their efforts. We believe in a positive and strong partnership of the public and private sector in creating and sharing knowledge, creativity, research, development, and innovation, to the benefit of the whole of society. And we also see the vast opportunities of commons and cooperative approaches that can be fostered with new technologies.
We are convinced that technological sovereignty through democratisation of technology is an absolute necessity for real equality in the technological era. We believe that Europe can become a beacon of hope if it unites political, social and technological progress — if it fosters a new enlightenment and puts the flourishing of all human beings in the centre of technological change. This could have transformative impact on a global scale.
The Relationship between People and Technology
Today people are increasingly defined as users or consumers of technology — sometimes even as the product itself — rather than citizens. Remember, when the service is free, you’re not the user, you’re the product.
But, as users, consumers or products, people are not empowered. They are not citizens who have a voice on how technology is shaped, who pays for it, and who benefits from it. They don’t get the real benefits of the knowledge, research and development funded by their tax money. They are effectively powerless against the monopolies of the platform giants.
DiEM25 wants technology to reflect the values and diversity of the society to which we aspire. Our different genders, ethnicities, capabilities, values and — most importantly — our dreams, shall be supported by technology. Technology has to be set up in such a way that it liberates and empowers each of us to fulfill our vast potential, both as individual citizens and as contributors to the collective good. And it must support the ecological and democratic transformations necessary for our society’s future.
That is only possible if we, as sovereign citizens, reclaim the ability to make self-determined choices, argue for different values and change the social and economic processes and powers that shape technologies. We can and shall develop technological citizenship in the 21st century, based on principles such as the commons, the capacity of self-organisation and the development of counter-power held by citizens and democratic institutions.
Technology has become a central form of power in society. This power must ultimately belong to the sovereign citizens of a technologised society.
Technology in DiEM25’s Progressive Agenda for Europe... (((etc etc)))

And now I'm going to show you twelve of the quickest, least-effort strategies to create high-quality leads right immediately.
Invest in a competent PPC agency.
Okay, PPC isn't simple, but an agency will handle all of the legwork for you, and it's the quickest method to get high-quality leads.
The beautiful thing about paid advertising is that you can practically select the type of people who come to your site.
So, for example, you may target folks who are eager to buy and focus just on leads with the best conversion potential.
Similarly, you may use PPC to acquire leads who aren't quite ready to purchase but nurture those leads throughout the purchasing process to ensure they finish up buying from you rather than one of your competitors.
This option is provided by paid advertising, and a smart PPC firm will have you producing leads straight away.
You have to ensure that once those leads get on your site, you can convert them.
Schedule your social media postings.
There are benefits and drawbacks to automating social postings, but it is undeniably a low-effort option to create leads rapidly.
Don't get me wrong: I'm not saying you should automate everything, but scheduling your postings can significantly improve your manual social activity - especially on networks like Twitter, where the material has a limited lifespan.
An excellent place to start is by scheduling your blog entries to be published on your preferred networks at the most influential times of the day.
You can be consistent every day, in many time zones, and at the most efficient times of day to create leads by scheduling your postings.
The best part is that you just need to push the publish button once, and everything else is taken care of.
I still recommend that you conduct at least 50% of your social activity manually, but a good dose of automation may make a significant difference in the number of leads you create daily.
Turn your blog's content into free downloads.
People love freebies, and if you provide them excellent information for free, your email list will explode.
To make this work, you must create exceptional material on a regular basis, which is neither easy nor quick – but bear with me.
With this type of content strategy in place, you can aggregate your existing material into larger resources and make them available as free downloads.
Consider in-depth guides on technical issues, step-by-step instructions for crucial activities, or industry "secrets" you've learned over the years — anything that truly adds value.
Include dynamic call-to-action buttons in each of your blog entries.
Place CTAs for your free downloads on every blog post to convert your blog readers into email sign-ups.
But here's the trick: you'll make free downloads for each category on your site, then develop a "dynamic" CTA that automatically links each download to the appropriate category.
People who read a piece on lead generation, for example, will be directed to download The Ultimate Guide to Lead Generation, while those who read about email marketing will be sent to 55 Email Marketing Hacks That Will Transform Your Business, and so on.
The key is that every visitor will be prompted to download free information on the same topic in which they previously expressed interest by clicking on your article.
And with some simple PHP code, this will happen automatically for every post you publish.
Make your forms more conversion-friendly.
Forms that annoy users are one of the biggest conversion killers you can have on your site.
It makes no difference how quick or easy your lead-generating strategies are if your forms prevent individuals from converting at the critical moment.
Invest in an excellent form optimization tool to ensure you're not turning away prospective prospects.
Any excellent form optimization tool will show you where people are having issues with your forms so you can fix them.
There are also some excellent tools available these days.
Leadformly is my current favorite since it comes with form layouts that are already optimized for conversions and can be embedded anywhere on your site.
As a result, you'll spend less time troubleshooting your forms and more time watching the leads pour in.
Opt for pop-ups that are easy to operate.
Regardless of UX issues, pop-ups continue to provide results, and believe it or not, it is feasible to utilize pop-ups in a way that has no/minimal negative influence on user experience.
Exit pop-ups, which appear only when visitors appear to be about to leave your site, and scroll pop-ups, which appear only when users reach a specified area of the page, are two of the least invasive pop-ups.
You may also program them to activate when a user reaches the conclusion of your article and begins to scroll up.
Pop-up alternatives, like banner opt-ins or CTA sections, can help break up your page without interfering with the user experience.
Experiment with several alternatives to find what works best for you and the people that visit your site.
Use social media to reach out to others.
Returning to social media, one thing marketers don't do enough of is reach out to individuals on social with the correct type of intentions.
I'm not talking about desperate Facebook postings or self-promotion on Quora.
I'm talking about reaching out to those who are experiencing real issues and offering them a solution.
So, the next time you see a Quora page full of answers from corporations promoting their products, break the mold and attempt to help others.
Trust me, your response and your brand will stand out much above the other self-serving replies on Quora.
The same is true for Facebook groups, LinkedIn groups, Twitter chats, and any other location where your target audience seeks assistance or advice.
Make yourself recognized in these areas, but as a brand that wants to make people's lives simpler.
Not only will the individuals you assist be amazed by your generosity, but so will everyone else in the room.
Use your content to challenge industry leaders.
It is difficult to compete with industry leaders.
They appear to have all of the visibility, leaving little room for smaller businesses to establish themselves.
So, challenge industry leaders with your content and take the battle to them.
Tell them if they post something claiming your industry is trending in one direction and you disagree.
Publish your article that provides your perspective on the situation and reach out to them with it.
Comment on their blog articles about your ideas and material, making it obvious which brand you represent.
The purpose here is not to spark a debate.
It's to get your brand in front of the enormous audiences that your industry leaders attract and to establish yourself as a company with something unique to say.
Set up a review site for yourself.
People want guarantees that they're buying from the finest available source with so many alternatives to pick from - for almost every transaction they make.
This is why third-party evaluations from sites like Google, Trustpilot, and Reviews.co.uk are so vital.
People visit these sites not just to gain feedback from previous customers, but these evaluations are frequently incorporated in search results and PPC advertisements, and you may also use them on your landing pages to increase on-site conversions.
Of course, you must be certain that you can create a reasonable number of favorable evaluations for this to attract leads rather than frighten people away.
As a result, ensure that your services are up to par and that you have a robust customer service strategy in place to transform any complaints into satisfied consumers.
Emphasize time-sensitive offers.
With the approaches we've just discussed, you should be able to reach a large number of people and generate high-quality leads.
So now is a fantastic time to start marketing time-sensitive deals to attract new leads and generate a feeling of urgency for the ones you currently have.
You may advertise these in your PPC advertising, social postings, blog articles, emails, and any other channel through which you communicate with prospects.
It is totally up to you what you provide and how frequently you conduct deals.
Experiment with a few campaigns to see what piques people's interest; you may discover that certain audiences respond to different incentives more than others.
Just be sure to emphasize that your deals are only available for a short time to generate a feeling of urgency.
Make use of your existing consumers.
It's astonishing how many businesses believe their job is over once a user clicks the buy button, yet your most potent lead producers are the folks who have previously done business with you.
Create campaigns to convert your existing clients into repeat buys, ask for referrals, and reward them for referring their friends or connections to you.
You've already spent in acquiring each consumer, so you want to make the most of your marketing dollars, even after they've made their final decision.
Do everything you can to generate repeat consumers and brand advocates who will help your future marketing efforts.
Conclusion
The low-effort approaches for generating leads rapidly that we've looked at today aren't the ones that will create the most leads in the shortest period.
They will instead deliver highly qualified prospects with business potential - quality over quantity. If you want to expand your business, contact us right now since we are the top digital marketing agency in Bangalore.

What is concrete?- complete guide
A mixture of cement, fine aggregate (sand), coarse aggregate and water with a specific ratio & proportioning is called concrete. There’s different types of concrete & grades of concrete.
Unit weight of concrete is:
Plain cement concrete (PCC)= 2400 kg/m3
Reinforcement concrete (RCC)= 2500 kg/m3
Ingredients of concrete:
In manufacturing of concrete followings are the ingredients of concrete.
Cement:
Cement is a fine (powder) binding material use to manufacture conc and mortar. Unit weight of Portland cement is 1440 kg/m3.
Fine Aggregate:
Sand is used in conc manufacturing as fine aggregate. For a quality product it should be assured that sand is coarser, it has sharp edges, should be angular. To assure all these properties test it on 4.75mm sieve if it passed by the sieve, it is good for use.
Sand should be clean. There shouldn’t be any dust in it nor any organic matter present in it. Sea sand shouldn’t use in anyway. If it fulfill the terms, a stone dust can be used.
Coarse Aggregate:
Hard stone pieces used in conc manufacturing are coarse aggregates. Coarse aggregate should be hard, strong, durable and clean. Their shape should be almost cubic.
Coarse aggregate shouldn’t be laminated, flat and elongated. There shouldn’t be dust on them. It should has same size and quality as mentioned describe in design.
It shouldn’t pass from 5mm (0.25 inch) sieve. The coarse aggregate batch should have different sizes particles. Batch should be well graded and shouldn’t have void ratio more than 42% at any cost.
What is Water cement ratio:
It is the quantity of water against cement in a conc mix. Water cement is most important in conc mix. For a good quality of concrete WC ratio should must be considered. Increase in water content can result in decrease of conc strength.
For best quality of concrete water cement ratio should be 45% of weight of cement.
How concrete is made?
Proportioning of Concrete:
Cement, sand and aggregate (CSA) should be in defined proportion to insure the healthy conc mix. Bulking of sand should be considered when measuring sand for proportioning.
The defined proportion is considered for dry sand. It should be pre checked if there’s any moisture content present in sand, then extra sand should be added in proportion with calculation.
Mixing of Concrete:
Mixing of concrete ingredient are really important and should be well mixed. There’s two way of mixing. For small construction works it can be done by hand, for major work it should be done with machine.
Hand mixing:
First, make a water tight plate form of steel, wooden or conc. For conc manufacturing firstly pour sand on plate form and then cement on it. Mix it well in dry phase till it becomes consistent.
After this pour coarse aggregate on plate form, and then pour consistent sand & cement mix on it. Mix all three ingredient well in dry phase. After getting well mixed make a circle in center of it and pour water into.
1/3 of total water quantity should be added in first phase, then mix it and pour the remaining water with help of shower. Keep in mind water shouldn’t flow out of conc mix.
Mix it in wet phase until it becomes unicolour. All the concrete manufacture should be used in half hour and the time period shouldn’t exceed.
Machine mixing:
First, wash the machine well before use. Pour aggregates in machine then sand and then cement and mix it in dry form (minimum 4 turns of machine) & then add water in it.
Mix it again in wet foam and turn the machine for 2 minutes till it becomes consistent and unicolor. Conc is ready, use it, and clean the machine after work is done.
Placing of concrete:
After manufacturing of concrete, it should be placed on required place slowly and well mannered. It should be place from height (height shouldn’t exceed 3ft), otherwise ingredient will be segregate.
Concrete should be placed before the initial setting time of cement starts ( which is 30 mins). Initial setting time starts when cement first contact with water.
Before 30 minutes concrete should be compacted with vibrator, if vibrator isn’t available or can’t be use at any point then steel rod can be used. Make sure to NOT give any joint in conc work.
Concrete placing shouldn’t be done in 4.5 centigrade in winters & 38 centigrade in summer. Special care should be taken if its compulsory to place.
In case of providing any joint, make the previous conc surface rough, cure it and pour cement slurry on it then place the new conc. It will provide strong joint between.
Protection of freshly placed Concrete:
Fresh concrete should be protected from rain and hot weather. It will cause in shrinkage and ultimately cracks in member because of rapid drying. To protect it from hot weather put wet gunny bags on it.
After 24 hour passed cure it every so often or stop 2.5cm (1 inch) water on it. Cure it at least for 14 day. After 48 hours construction upon it can be start but curing of concrete should remains till 14 days.
