Okay so, if you don't know, the Echo Project has pretty much washed all mention of The Smoke Room vn from their sites: The itch.io page, bluesky, everything.

So...what does this mean? Well, it seems that this is the separation from official Echo canon and TSR canon. The way I personally take this is that anything related to The Smoke Room VN that comes exclusively from The Smoke Room VN is no longer canon to Echo and Arches, but any mention of TSR characters and events within Echo and Arches still happen. Meaning Sam, Murdoch, Cynthia, William, Nik, Cliff, the burning of Hendricks Manor, and anything else from the 1915 period mentioned within Echo still happens and doesn't change. But things like specific personalities for these characters (minus Sam and Cynthia to a degree), characters who aren't mentioned in Echo like Madame Dora, Jim, Ralph, Ethel, etc, and events and entities that don't get mentioned in Echo or Arches aren't.

How does this change the timeline? Well, I believed that TSR VN was in a similar position in the timeline to Echo and Arches where a version of TSR happens that leads to Echo, but it isn't a version that we play a route of in TSR (better explanation of what I mean in an older post I made here). So none of the routes in TSR would lead directly to the Echo that we play as Echo VN, but they do lead to one version of Echo in the greater branching timeline. But now with the purging of TSR, it and the lore it presents no longer have a place officially.

Honestly, all this really means is that we can't directly use evidence presented in TSR for Echo theories anymore. I had an idea that Chase's arachnophobia was linked to 88883 but like I said back with this ask, with all the TSR drama and the turbulent state of the vn (at the time) we might not be able to source TSR exclusive things like 88883 as official lore anymore. And that seems to now be the case.
