Guantanamera ¡Para aliviar una jornada dura! En sus orígenes fue creada en 1928 por el compositor e intérprete cubano Joseíto Fernández. ¡Era solo un estribillo! En 1943 el cantautor fue contratado por una firma jabonera en el programa radial "El suceso del día" de la emisora CMQ. La canción sonó durante 14 años en toda Cuba, se escuchaba desde las más encumbradas mansiones de la burguesía como en los desamparados bohíos de los campesinos. En los años 50tas el compositor Julián Orbón de España recrea una versión con los versos de José Martí y el estribillo de Joseíto Fernández. Pete Seeger de los The Weavers la volvió famosa en su interpretación en el Carnigal Hall de New York en 1963, incluyéndola en su disco, después de haberla escuchado en un campamento de niños gracias a que el profesor y músico Héctor Angulo que la compartió. Después se hizo mundialmente famosa por el trío de SandPippers en 1965.
