Maybe I'll feel different after a reread maybe I just wish we'd gotten any proper in-depth exploration of Julie-Su and Lien-Da's rivalry (maybe I have an irrational hatred for amnesia/memory wipes as a plot device) but wouldn't it have been cool if Julie-Su had grown up with the full knowledge of who her family is?

Like, serving and training directly under Lien-Da and Kragok and their influence until she defects from the Legion. I feel like her rebellious streak would make sense for a kid who was always a pawn for her siblings to use against each other in their weird loyalty/backstabbing games, someone who was fully aware of her unique place in Legion heirarchy but conciously rejected it, even if only secretly. She'd master the performance of being a good little soldier for her sister, while inside she'd be gnawing at the walls for an escape.

This is less a critque of anyone's writing, because coming up with stuff for a long-running comic is just Like That I respect it, more a 'if someone ever got to redo archiesonic' from scratch thing. Say, for a TV show.... a girl can dream.

I also wish that Espio and Valdez's whole deal with the Shinobi had been an actual thing from the start. Sure don't reveal anything until the Iron Dominion arc but Valdez working with the secret service? Espio ingratiating himself with the Chaotix? The attack on Rainbow Valley?? The subtext would have been too powerful if they were spies from the start.
