That one chapter of The Beat Goes On but Branch does have friends outside Poppy and the Snack Pack AND is actually a introduction to Kismet as a second group of main characters!!

I hate Mr Glittercakes so. Fucking. Much

It is so humiliating with a character whose only crime was not wanting to hurt his stupid friends' feelings by telling them he'd rather stay home alone.

But complaining is useless, so time to rewrite it is.

The chapter would be called "The Other Friends" and the premise would be the same: Poppy thinks Ramón is giving her excuses to no going to parties for the last weeks

The confrontation about the excuses could be talked out, such a twisted solution wasn't necessary

"Oh no, sorry, I would have loved to go to this... Super fun party" Branch say with a unconvincing smile "But I already made plans with my other friends and they-" he noticed the skeptic look Poppy was giving him and stopped "What?"

Poppy sighed in disappointed "C'mon, Branch. Everyone knows you don't have other friends"

"Excuse me???"

"Look, it's okay, I get it!" she hurried to reassure "All those years of isolation affected you I-I understand that you still need a break from so many people from time to time! And... you still haven't grasped everything that having friends means. I know. But something important in interpersonal relations is honesty so-"

Poppy took a breath, uncomfortable with the conflict.

"So yeah, the excuses have to stop"

It would have been a very good intervention if he was really lying

After that Branch introduces Poppy to his childhood friends (and secret band) who, to no one's surprise, are just as outcasted as him

I'm already thinking about other possible plots for Kismet Centric chapters

I have to rewatch The Beat Goes On because I forgot Branch and Poppy swapped bodies for an episode!

I understand if people don't consider the tv series canon, but I would like to think TBGO is because it was made after the first movie so there's more continuity that makes sense.

But this is huge for Broppy. I implore Broppy fans to at least watch The Beat Goes On.

Nothing could have prepared me for that moment in TBGO in the episode Funsgiving when Branch got overwhelmed and hid in Poppy’s bed under her covers. And then stayed there. And it was normal. No one even batted an eye. Like it had happened multiple times.

She’s such a safe space for him I can’t-

Fans of the movies who haven’t seen the shows I need you guys to know that branch has this whole bypass security thing and it goes to the beat of a song from his childhood

It’s a song about him pulling up his big boy pants

Overall, ttbgo gives off a lot of broppy vibes, and now I believe that in that show they were kind of more than friends, because:

they usually hold hands

they usually turn to each other when something (or, anything) goes wrong

they usually give the other advice and comfort when necessary

99.9% of the time they’re seen together

there’s a few episodes based on the relationship between branch and poppy

their relationship is really playful

the way they look at each other…? (im not sure)

Branch is usually the one who tells poppy her ideas might not work and keep her sane, and Poppy is the one who encourages branch to open up and supports him. Sometimes they can make use of the other’s traits to get what they want; and at the same time it’s really nice to see them understand each other despite their mostly opposite personalities. And their colours are opposite on the colour wheel— Poppy’s being a warm colour and Branch’s being a cool colour.

Short summary of this post? I absolutely LOVE these two.

Have this thought that Creek sang to Branch once and in an attempt to court him, but Branch didn’t know so he didn’t sing back and even if he did he still wouldn’t sing back.

So Creek used the apology song to trick Branch into accepting his courtship.

Then eventually the favorite guy song into solidifying they’re a couple. Because it’s a duet.

Branch none the wiser and everyone else is just as clueless.

Then the second they are alone alone creek starts making out with him (eventually getting a punch to the face).

“What was that!?”

“What?”

“You- You! Why did you kiss me?!”

“Because you’re my mate, mate.”

“What!? No- I never!”

“I sang a courtship song to you, you responded, then we sang a duet in front of witnesses. Pretty cut and dry to me.”

Branch expresses he doesn’t know what any of that is. Creek realized Branch wasn’t taught how proper courtship works. He shrugs and leaves to give Branch space.

The next time they interact, it feels like a bickering and competing couple. Creek keeps giving Branch love tokens or gifts.

Creek figured if it works don’t fix it and continues to plan ways to get Branch to go on dates with him.

After all, he did manage to get him to respond to kisses better and cuddling. Affection over all. He calls that a success.

If only he could get him to come to his house. Though he knows branch will never move out of that bunker of his. He’d only tolerate living separately if he could just get Branch to come to him often.

Something along those lines!!

Fun idea right?

Of course I do wonder how his brothers would react to their little brother being tricked into getting married? Or if Creek failed all this because Poppy stopped him from completing his plans, how would they respond to the fact that their little brother was almost tricked into getting married and still didn’t know?

I’d imagine Branch complaining about Creek and the stuff he did, unaware of what Creek tried to do but his brother’s catching on right a way.

Then Branch keeps going and mentions Creek trying to kiss him and he’s like ugh! Annoying! (Branch tries not to think about how much he liked it because it’s creek! He shouldn’t like anything about him!) but then he accidentally gives out a longing sigh with a slight blush while he’s pouting.
