A Rare Spanish Colonial Silver-Gilt Two-Handled Cup from the Atocha Shipwreck Bogotá, Colombia, circa 1620
Nuestra Señora de Atocha was a Spanish treasure galleon and the most widely known vessel of a fleet of ships that sank in a hurricane off the Florida Keys in 1622. At the time of her sinking, Nuestra Señora de Atocha was heavily laden with copper, silver, gold, tobacco, gems, and indigo from Spanish ports at Cartagena and Porto Bello in New Granada (present-day Colombia and Panama, respectively) and Havana, bound for Spain. The Nuestra Señora de Atocha was named for the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de Atocha in Madrid, Spain. It was a heavily armed Spanish galleon that served as the almirante (rear guard) for the Spanish fleet. It would trail behind the other ships in the flota to prevent an attack from the rear.
Much of the wreck of Nuestra Señora de Atocha was famously recovered by an American commercial treasure hunting expedition in 1985. Following a lengthy court battle against the State of Florida, the finders were ultimately awarded sole ownership of the rights to the treasure.

okay so. today is july 28th 2024. meaning. tomorrow is my 26th birthday, which will make me unable to use my youth transport card, meaning if i wanted to use a monthly ticket as i've been doing for years, i'd have to pay around 30-40€ instead of 8€ 👍. so to celebrate this final day, i thought it would be fun to travel to the furthest place you can get within the madrid transport area, which is ✨guadalajara✨, at the end of the C-2 commuter rail line.
after a long time just getting to nuevos ministerios (i got in the bus at 9:33 and got in the train to guadalajara at 11:25 lol) , i finally got to start my journey <3
the only things i know about guadalajara are that it exists, that there's a bigger more inportant one in méxico, and that it's the capital of its eponymous province, in castilla-la mancha. that's basically it 👍. so i have no idea what i'll found there, I'm going off of vibes here.
most of the trip was just suburban sprawl but sometimes there were fields and cool mountains as well :)
anyways I finally got there and thus completed my mission !!!!
it was a bit too early for lunch so i decided to walk around for a bit while listening to a podcast (la pija y la quinqui). at first i wanted to go to the city center but turns out the station is on the edge of town and i wasn't gonna walk to downtown guadalajara in this heat. so. I just walked by the train station area.
anyways here's some pics 🫶 I loved the casas de pueblo here, it didn't really felt like a city (guadalajara has almost 90k inhabitants btw)
nvm tumblr only lets me use 10 pictures in this posts for some reason. lol. xd. i'll add the pictures in a reblog i guess.
anyways. i then had lunch in a kebab place near the station cause i was too scared to go to a proper restaurant all by myself and had some meat with basmati rice (8€ btw.) <3
and after that i returned home !! love how you just go to the station and wait. there's no signs telling you when will the next train comes or anything. just vibes (there was a group of people waiting in a particular andén so i just went there and was correct)
anyways. that was all. hope you liked this trip 🫶
#how do i even tag this#guadalajara#spain#travel#trip#????#i'll add it to my master post later i think#anyways. cyrrently waiting for the train to start ! the trip back home should be smoother cause all train lines go to atocha and i have#a clear way home from there. so. should be fine

That moment - to this ... may be years in the way they measure, but it's only one sentence back in my mind - there are so many days when living stops and pulls up and sits and waits like a train on the rails. I pass the hotel at 8 and at 5; there are cats in the alleys and bottles and bums, and I look up at the window and think, I no longer know where you are, and I walk on and wonder where the living goes when it stops.
-- Charles Bukowski

Quote
No matter what any poet did, the poems would constitute screens on which readers could project their own desperate belief in the possibility of poetic experience, whatever that might be, or afford them the opportunity to mourn its impossibility.
