Hi friend!

Listen, if I knew which exact bar those two went to and took a candlelit picture at I’d be there all the fucking time just on the off chance that they might show up. Heck, if I’m ever in Vancouver when they are I might just rush around to different candlelit bars on the off chance. So I don’t know where they took it.

But your real question is one I got–in a consistently panicked tone–from other anons here so I’ll address it. Were Jensen and Misha maybe not on a date at all but actually just sitting very close together at a candlelit table taking a ten-year anniversary pic and tagging it on social media…when there were other cast and crew (including Jared around) in the restaurant??? PERISH THE THOUGHT!!!

I jest, anon, and I get why y’all are worrying b/c the inevitable backlash of people being like “your joy is too much, Cockles shippers! for God’s sake, cut back on the joy!” is unpleasant. But here’s the thing, friends: it doesn’t matter. Yes, we’d like to imagine maybe it was the night of the three least ordered items and it’s at an overtly datelike and romantic location and it was just them but…if it was the two of them cozying up at a cast party that’s…not a problem. It doesn’t invalidate the romance of it or our happiness.

What makes the whole thing romantic is the way it happened, not whether anyone they knew was nearby. Say it was at a holiday cast party both times (maybe one held in the same location in 2009 and 2019, hence the caption). That STILL means that 1) Jensen took the first pic of them; 2) Jensen SAVED the first pic of them, either across multiple phones, or in the cloud, or (as I speculated) by printing it out; 3) Jensen remembered the anniversary of that picture; 4) Jensen thought to recreate that picture and asked Misha to; 5) Jensen decided to post it to social media with a sentimental caption. The fact is that that shit is fucking romantic and it doesn’t matter one bit whether their castmates were at the same event. In fact, maybe it’s WORSE! Imagine Jensen pulling Misha away from a party to recreate this photo he has on his phone…so much more obvious, in a way, then doing it if they just went to dinner together. 

I actually believe the photos are both from cast and crew Christmas parties! For one thing, I think Misha is wearing that same checked shirt that you can see in this photo where they are doing…whatever it is they’re doing:

Looks like it to me! (Kudos to @jensensitive for having that other xmas party photo on hand.) Sure, it’s later in the night so they are drunker and sweatier and have some seriously blown pupils, let’s be real, but that’s the same shirt and even though Misha likes to recycle it’s sufficiently…distinctive that makes sense. 

ETA: @jensensitive says it’s a different shirt and def not from the party...she’s probably right, since she is about most things, and the check looks narrower (which isn’t something, like the colors, that could really be affected by lighting and filters). I’ll let you fashionistas decide for yourself. But my original point that the presence of other people at a cast party where this picture may have een taken does not invalidate its romantic context totally stands.

You know what else makes sense? Jensen being able to remember the date and the place b/c there was a party there and because after the party…maybe…something happened between them. (Or maybe it happened before. Or maybe not yet. This is all conjecture and headcanoning and I hope you all know that!)  All I’m saying is that if you’ve been trying to work up the nerve to hit on your coworker who you’ve already spent a year being fascinated with what better chance to do it than at the office Christmas party? (Plus Cockles historians know) some tension between them was evident in the moment captured above and the whole emcee act that they did that it is taken from.)

To recap and reassure, then, I’d go one better on your question and say that yes, it’s more than possible both times were at the SPN cast and crew holiday party or afterparty. That’s why Jensen could confirm things like the date, location, and table. And that fact makes zero difference to how sentimental and romantic it is to recreate the photo and post it in that particular way. I would certainly believe you if you told me this was also an anniversary for them because it provided a catalyst to take their flirtation into something else…but that also doesn’t HAVE to be true to make it romantic. (Also: this would mean that the “three least ordered items” story is from a DIFFERENT NIGHT, probably the previous year, and that means they have multiple romantic night stories and we are all dead.)

I hope that helps you, Nonnie, and all my other Anon friends who are worried. Please continue to enjoy this photo and its aftermath in whatever style you feel most appropriate!

-afaik, the previous spn crew holiday parties were held on set

-Misha at the 2009 holiday party was wearing a different shirt than in the 2009 bar picture

-i have no idea what bar it was, and I hope no one else finds out either, so that it can still just be theirs

-both of those pictures were selfies, so they probably weren't with anyone else

Hihi all except warmongers, 大家好! I met up with my ex boss, MH and office bff, SW, on the second day of block leave. The restaurant we dined at is located in Parkroyal@Pickering, a sprawling hotel. Lots of space, comfortable lobby seats and, from what I've heard, luxurious rooms. Let's take a small peek at the Xmas decor. I'm a fan of understated tasteful style. The outlandish is not my thing.

What first intrigued me about the hotel was the line of wicker chairs placed in front of floor-to-ceiling glass panels. Guests and visitors alike may admire the lush greenery and ponds in comfort. The chairs used to be 'bird cage' type; they've since changed those to smaller, minimalistic chic ones. Fiery red blooms add pops of vibrant colour.

The restaurant entrance where we queued to enter. A wait staff scanned our digital app to confirm our vaccine status. Thereafter we showed another staff at the counter our table reservation. Finally, we were ushered to our seats. I was so thrilled to see MH again after so long. The 3 of us would've talked till we forgot about ordering had a waitress not asked what we wanted. There was so much to catch up on!

Initially we'd eyed the ala carte menu, with especially enticing dishes. The buffet offered an interesting variety of choices, so we ended up opting for it instead. This was an international buffet, with a mix of sashimi, salad, as well as western, Asian and local cuisines. Just as SW and I photographed everything like tourists in our own country when we caught up a few weeks ago, we did it again!

3 types of sashimi - salmon, tuna and octopus - were available. I decided to have all 3. As for the sushi, I chose the mini California roll.

The second course was 2 bowls of laksa because, whilst this local staple is plentiful at small food businesses, the quality is just... different. Crunchy whole large prawns come with the versions offered at hotels whereas at hawker centres and coffee shops, you'd be lucky to have 2 medium prawns, halved. Most of the time we get a few miniscule cockles, slivers of fish cake, beansprouts and dried beancurd plus too much thick vermicelli.

Finally, meat. I chose turkey, ham, cooked salmon and chicken. Sorry turkey lovers, not a fan save for turkey bacon and turkey ham. Turkey breast is just... 🤢 Too dry for my liking. The ham and salmon were good. The chicken was a hit. Slightly crispy skin, juicy and tender meat and very well marinated too. No dessert; no sweet tooth, remember? If they had brandy fruit cake, I might have relented and had a slice.

Although our country has established vaccinated travel corridors with other countries, I don't have any plans to venture overseas at present, since Delta is still circulating globally and now, with Omicron's emergence. There's really no need when we remember how much prettiness there is domestically. Moreover, if I'm to pay to travel, I prefer a destination without Asian hate crimes.

Merry Fucking NOT

It is BEYOND frustrating that it CANNOT be conceived of that I do not celebrate this fucking holiday. No, I’m not joking. It absolutely IS assumed I do. Everywhere. By Everyone. Not once for the last 3 weeks have I been smalltalked about Hanukkah or Kwanza (prolly understandable at least, lily white that I am) or even the bloody fucking NEW YEAR. It’s all been "what are you doing for christmas? are you ready for christmas? what did you ask santa for?" etc etc. Every fucking person celebrates this. If you don’t, don’t worry, I’m not talking about you, because YOU DIDN’T MAKE THAT SMALL TALK. If you don’t celebrate… because you are not christian, because you have other reasons, whatever, you don’t fucking make weirdly invasive smalltalk about it. You just say "how are you today," or "have a nice day" or whatever. Only people who celebrate this, religiously or not, talk about it.

Literally the ONLY good thing about this mass-assumption is that I get a small spike of pleasure at the discomfort I cause if I say "oh, we don’t celebrate." Kinda warms the cockles, it does. You’ve spouted for a bit, you’re so sure you are in a space of solidarity, and then BAM! nope. There’s the confusion, as if you’re certain I could not have said what I did, what? Then there’s discomfort. Did you just stomp on my jewness* or something? Am I a *gasp* MUSLIM? oh no… did you offend me? Will I think you a bad person?****

I mean, "Athiest" will not at all occur to you, so whatever. I’m fine to let you think I’m literally anything other than christian, at this point. People get "freedom OF religion" relatively fine, overall… but "freedom FROM religion" is a tough concept for most people.

And to be fair, I still don’t have it. I’m quite aware that my atheism is christian based. I’m surrounded by christians. I grew up with that foisted on me. It is the culture I’m in. I know full well that atheism looks different in a different culture. Jewish atheism seems quite lovely, actually. In a culture without a religion that’d prolly be even awesomer. So I KNOW that my disbelief is rooted in christian monotheism, white supremacy, and european colonialism. For what it’s worth, there’s a very real possibility that’s WHY I don’t believe. The christian notions of the universe and life and all that are so fucking shitty I reject it all and it’s precisely BECAUSE they want me so fucking badly to accept it that I reject it. I know that’s a possibility. Don’t care, not the point. The point is that December is fucking hell.****** And I’m fucking sick of it.

And I’m really fucking sick of people thinking there’s a goddamn "war" on this fucking holiday when it is literally the only thing on nearly everyone’s mind for easily a tenth of the year, and has a huge impact on everyone’s lives, for good or for ill, whether they like it or not, want it or not. Can’t fill a prescription today. Can’t easily buy toilet paper today. Geeze, I’m gonna be pissed if I can’t get my traditional consolation prize of a good MSG-riddled Chinese dinner, but it’s always a concern. Always glad to live in a community with a significant Hindu/Jewish/Muslim presence. It’s the only way anything can be bearable.

And like, the thing is, I don’t have a problem with the concept of the winter festival. The general ideas pagans had of celebrating before the deep plunge into darkness. I understand that need, it’s very human. That it’s been coopted by a single religion isn’t fundamentally any single person’s fault. And if it WEREN’T EVERYWHERE, for a GODDAMN MONTH, and literally (here’s a phrase asshole christians like) SHOVED DOWN MY FUCKING THROAT, I wouldn’t have a problem with it. Have your festivals and celebrations. You deserve, as human beings, to have light and love in your life, especially in dark times. Really, you do. Everyone does.

But JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, please at least fucking realize that you are also, often, part of the problem. You don’t want to be, it’s all good fun and harmless, and of course you only want joy and peace and blah blah… but see… if this is not MY thing, I CANNOT get away from it. Can’t. Absolutely fucking CAN’T. And I have to sit there and deal with my kid having to put up with "what do you think Santa is bringing you?" and the like. And, most importantly, I’m not the only one. It is ubiquitous, but it is not universally celebrated, not even secularly.******

So if I’m fucking grumpy, deal with it? I mean, I deal with this crap for over a month, as does anyone who doesn’t celebrate, for whatever reason. And please understand that this overhyped over-commercialization of this season is THE REASON that there is so many problems with mental health this season. Socioeconomic differences are only heightened by this. It doesn’t just hurt those that aren’t affiliated. Like everything proper modern christian, it hurts its adherents just as much. That you think I’m being at all too much about this is Your Privilege showing. And don’t worry. I know you think I’m wrong and have feelings about it. That’s ok, I don’t fucking care.

So anyway… Merry Fucking Not The Birthday Of Your Savior
