Well you also have to take care of yourself too. That's also a factor of what constitutes too many pets. If you arent able to take care of your pets AND yourself, whether due to time, space, or money, then that's probably too many animals.

Ah too true! Forgot to mention that part, didn’t cross my mind. But yes you have to be able to care for yourself (and any children you may have) before the animals, and then the animals themselves as well :)
