India Ceramic Sanitaryware Industry and Overview
Tumblr media
The Indian ceramic sanitaryware industry has seen significant growth over the past decade led by rapid urbanisation and rising income levels. Ceramic sanitaryware includes products used in bathrooms such as wash basins, water closets (toilets), urinals. The growing demand for such products reflects India's improving sanitation levels and changing consumer preferences towards branded durable sanitary products.
India Ceramic Sanitaryware: Raw Material Availability India Ceramic Sanitaryware of key raw materials required for ceramic sanitaryware manufacturing. Key materials include china clay, feldspar and ball clay which are essential for producing vitreous China used in most sanitary fittings. Major china clay reserves are found in the states of West Bengal, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu contain significant ball clay reserves. Availability of ample raw materials within the country reduces production costs and logistics expenses for manufacturers. It also lessens dependence on expensive imports of Vitreous China which is a competitive advantage.
India Ceramic Sanitaryware: Growth of Urban Populations Rapid urbanization has been a major driver of increased sanitaryware demand in India. The urban population is projected to rise to over 600 million by 2030 from 450 million currently. Growing cities require extensive housing and infrastructure development. This translates to rising spends on bathroom fittings by property developers, builders as well as urban migrant populations seeking better living standards. Increased purchases of durable sanitaryware such aswash basins, western style toilets have been key segments driving industry value growth.
Rise of the Indian Middle Class Economic liberalization since the 1990s has led to a substantial expansion of India's consuming middle class population estimated at over 200 million individuals. As discretionary spending power rises among this segment, there is increased consumerism even for household amenities like bathroom fittings previously considered as luxuries. The introduction of attractive and affordable options by Indian sanitaryware brands has enabled wider penetration and 'trading up' from basic to premium variants in urban as well as tier 2/3 cities. This expanded customer base seeking aesthetic styles and hygienic products is critical for ongoing sectoral progress.
Government of India Ceramic Sanitaryware Growth Initiatives Various government schemes and reforms have supported the industry's evolution especially in rural regions. 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' aimed at eliminating open defecation has spurred projects across villages to construct individual and community toilets. Funding for plumbing, sanitation facilities in residential projects has been ramped up under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This has boosted demand from government channels in addition to raising awareness about hygienic bathroom practices nationwide. Simplified GST rates along with production linked incentives are encouraging larger investments and modernization efforts by sanitaryware manufacturers.
Rise of Organized Players Favorable policies and growing consumption has led to significant consolidation in the ceramic sanitaryware industry with organized sector players gaining market share. Large companies such as Cera, Hindustan Sanitaryware and Industries Limited (HSIL), Parryware, Kohler and Roca accounted for over 35% of domestic sales revenues in 2020 compared to just 10-15% a decade ago. These brands offer a wide array of restroom options along with premium designer products and wellness categories like faucets and showers. Many have established extensive retail networks across the country in addition to lucrative collaborations with builders. Economies of scale and enhanced quality standards are helping them outperform smaller unorganized peers over the long run.
Export Growth Potential India exported USD 225 million worth of ceramic tiles and sanitaryware products in FY21 displaying resilient growth despite pandemic restrictions. Major export destinations include the Middle East, African countries as well as the United States. Indian vitrified tiles are competitively priced in global markets due to access to low cost clay materials. Furthermore, 'Made in India' brands like CAMA are making inroads by catering vitreous China products tailored to needs in developing markets. With additional efforts to promote Indian capabilities and sign free trade agreements, the government aims to multiply ceramic exports to USD 1 billion by 2025. This reflects the industry's rising export orientation bolstered by cost advantages and improving quality benchmarks.
Rising Investments Established players as well as new entrants are committing large capex to expand capacity and diversify product offerings. HSIL, the country's largest producer is spending Rs. 650 crores over 2020-23 for backend integration, new plants and retail showrooms. Cera Sanitaryware allocated Rs. 200 crores in 2021-22 focusing on vitreous units. Kajaria Ceramics too added 2 new bathware lines last year taking total capacity to 50,000 pieces/day. Many Chinese and European firms are evaluating JVs/greenfield projects to tap the booming Indian demand. Such investments demonstrate long term confidence of stakeholders on India's role as a global sanitaryware hub supported by its market depth and consumption trends.
Changing Consumer Preferences With higher spending ability as well as awareness regarding latest styles, customers are displaying evolving tastes. There is rising demand for customization, multifunctional accessories as well as smart, IoT enabled sanitary items. ‘Designer’ and ‘premium’ segments incorporating features like anti-bacterial glazes, sensor based controls are witnessing maximum growth. Tier 2/3 towns also seek on-trend offerings beyond basic products. Manufacturers are launching new collections, partnering with designers as well as leveraging digital platforms to interact closer with clients. This has ensured the industry remains nimble in delivering improved solutions catering contemporary requirements of urban residents.
Backed by supportive demographics and policies, India's ceramic sanitaryware industrywill likely maintain double digit expansion over the next 5 years. While meeting huge domestic needs, focus on exports, professionalization and innovation shall strengthen its positioning as a leading global hub. Continuous efforts to enhance skill sets, optimize costs as well as tap non-metro, rural territories present extensive untapped opportunities. Adoption of renewable energy, waste recycling processes can boost sustainability too. Shine Bright with Tamil Nadu's Solar Power Push: KCP Solar Makes it Easy
Thinking of harnessing the sun's energy to power your home in Tamil Nadu? Look no further! The Indian government, along with the Tamil Nadu state government, is actively promoting solar panel installations through attractive subsidy schemes. Here at KCP Solar, we're well-versed in these programs and can guide you every step of the way towards a brighter, more sustainable future.
Double Dose of Savings: Central and State Incentives
Tamil Nadu boasts a two-pronged approach to solar power adoption. First, there's the Central Financial Assistance (CFA) offered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). This program provides a subsidy on the cost of installing grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The exact amount depends on the size of your system:
Up to 3 kW: Get 20% off the cost.
Beyond 3 kW and up to 10 kW: Enjoy a 18% subsidy for the first 3 kW and 9% for the remaining capacity.
On top of this central assistance, Tamil Nadu offers its own Chief Minister's Solar Rooftop Capital Incentive Scheme. This scheme provides an additional Rs. 20,000 per kilowatt (kW) for domestic solar PV systems connected to the grid. This subsidy applies specifically to individual homes and flats with a capacity of 1 kW. For residential societies or group applications, capacities of 5 kW, 10 kW, and multiples of these can be installed, with a maximum of 10 kW per house.
Benefits Beyond Savings
The financial advantages of installing solar panels are undeniable, but the rewards extend far beyond reducing your electricity bills. Here are some additional reasons to consider making the switch:
Environmentally Friendly: Solar energy is a clean and renewable source of power. By harnessing the sun's rays, you'll be reducing your carbon footprint and contributing to a greener future.
Reduced Dependence on the Grid: Generate your own clean electricity and decrease your reliance on the traditional power grid. This can be particularly beneficial during peak hours when electricity costs are higher.
Increased Property Value: Homes equipped with solar panels are often viewed as more sustainable and energy-efficient, potentially increasing their market value.
Low Maintenance: Modern solar panels require minimal upkeep. Enjoy peace of mind knowing your system will generate clean energy for years to come.
KCP Solar: Your One-Stop Shop for Solar Power
At KCP Solar, we understand the intricacies of Tamil Nadu's solar panel installation schemes. Our team of experts will guide you through the entire process, from initial consultation and plan design to subsidy application, installation, and system maintenance. We use high-quality, made-in-India solar components to ensure your system operates efficiently for years to come.

"No sane bureaucrat much less a sane lawyer could have advised Mr Ravi,” says Congress MP and advocate Manish Tewari
The recent developments in the Tamil Nadu government versus Governor RN Ravi have been steamy after  Governor RN Ravi sacked arrested minister Senthil Balaji as a Council Minister when criminal charges against him were filed. As per the latest updates, the Governor's House has confirmed that this decision has been put on hold for some time and will be confirmed after RN Ravi will take the advice of the Attorney General.  The CM MK Stalin earlier said that the Governor had no right to sack a minister and that the DMK-Congress government will face this legally.
It is illegitimate to sack a minister until and unless charges against him are proven, said Governor had no right to sack a minister and the DMK-Congress government will face this legally. "No sane bureaucrat much less a sane lawyer could have advised Mr Ravi that the Constitutional scheme allows him to dismiss a Minister. Criminal jurisprudence holds you are innocent until proven guilty," Congress MP and advocate Manish Tewari said.
Manish Tewari cited Article 164 of the Constitution of India and asserted a minister can be removed only on the advice of the chief minister.
"Currently he is in judicial custody in a criminal case being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. Some more criminal cases against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code are being investigated by the State Police. There are reasonable apprehensions that continuation of Thiru V Senthil Balaji in the Council of Ministers will adversely impact the due process of law..." the Raj Bhavan press release read.

Trends in Indian Resort Tourism
Tumblr media
Trends in Indian Resort Tourism
While skepticism prevails on Indian resort tourism getting back to its feet post-pandemic, affairs are not so, thanks to elements like revenge tourism and work-from-anywhere nomads. Reportedly a majority of Indians seek complete culture shock, meditation getaways and business travels have gained accelerated intensity.
This author here remembers reading somewhere about an arrow moving backward to shoot forward being correlated to hospitality gaining momentum after a catastrophic pandemic episode.
Post Covid Transitions in Indian Resort Tourism
After the taxing covid phase, it is almost a rebirth for Indian resort tourism struggling to balance trends with the traditional approaches. Despite the advent of apps, chatbots and hyper-personalization, most Indian travellers prefer a warm welcome from hotel staff and to get tipped by them on optimizing their stay.
More professionals approach resorts to combine business and leisure in bleisure travels, sleep tourism, health tourism and others seek memorable locations for destination weddings.
Government’s Role in Enhancing Indian Resort Industry
India’s G-20 Presidency has invited more attention, especially from the MICE sector. With a bid to alleviate MICE business by 2 per cent in the forthcoming 5 years, the Ministry of Tourism has introduced a strategy that would transform it into a lucrative opportunity.
Besides, ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ flagship scheme, encourages Indians to explore India instead of options that are located abroad. Apparently the budget for 2023-24 focuses on huge potential for tourism.
The Finance Minister has announced a series of measures, described as ‘mission mode’ which includes developing 50 new tourist destinations, promoting eco-tourism, building new airports and railway stations that improves connectivity.
Working in Bleisure
Facilities like ayurveda, campfire, trekking, houseboat and backwater locations are exactly an escape that a high-profile professional requires. This, combined with delectable cuisine rejuvenates one’s self.
While hotels in Kerala’s Kochi, Calicut, Wayanad, Pulamanthole and Ooty in Tamil Nadu embrace visitors with nature’s bounty, other hotels in Delhi and Chennai offer an equivalent relaxation despite the hustling urban ambience.
Traveller’s Take
Reportedly, travellers in the past couple of years prefer privacy, hygiene, flexibility, convenience with growing preferences for rented villas. Hoteliers, on the other hand, have shifted attention to cost efficiency, out-of-the-box ideas in the visitor’s interest, technology adoption and leaner operations.
Trends in Wellness and Health Resorts
Wellness tourism, highlighting ayurveda, yoga and meditation have gained importance over adventure tourism and have apparently been endorsed by millennials and young professionals.
Top travel houses including ayurvedic resorts in Kerala, have invested in spiritual getaways and heritage tours which are sought fervently by those who seek a break from hectic corporate routines. Kerala houses best ayurvedic resorts in India, are known for their unmatched expertise in stress management and detox programmes.
Resorts for Events
Resorts have become a part of one’s lifestyle, with more people booking resorts for family events such as birthdays, family get together, weddings and bachelorette parties.
Trends in Indian Resort Workforce
The Indian resort tourism did receive a huge blow when the workforce who lost jobs during the pandemic opted for other sectors. In another instance, the hospitality industry by itself was shortening its workforce.
To optimize human resources, many resorts employed people who were cross-trained in multiple departments. These multi-skilled employees operated at different departments in different times of the day which not only reduced labour cost but also improved efficiency.
Employees are encouraged to acquire new skills and train themselves in the resort operations. Traditional hotel operations are now redefined and appropriate training programs were implemented, much to the delight of travellers. Resorts collaborate with hospitality institutions and announce leadership programs for their staff which promotes internal learning and development.
Summing Up
India’s prospects for tourism are an ever-brimming sector, thanks to the country’s expansive culture and detailed geography. The buzz is that by the end of 2024, India might see less than 100 new hotels in the 4 and 5 star categories.
Domestic travellers, with most seeking worcations, would promote short term and long term stays. Technology and enhanced guest service are bound to improve the above-mentioned prospects.
The matchless expertise of Emarald Group of Hotels and Resorts, especially Wild West resorts located in Kerala is equipped with the above-mentioned trends. These resorts also insist on constant updation in technology and infrastructure, much to the delight of their patrons.

Rajan & Co, The Best Home Appliance Shop In Nagercoil - All Kind Of Modern Home Appliances
Rajan & Co. is the Best Home Appliances Showroom In Nagercoil. We went to Rajan and Co to purchase an induction cooker and my wife wanted to buy some other kitchen products. The store gives an excellent family shopping experience. Here u can find close to ten thousand varieties of products that are covering for almost every home appliance that u will ever need in your house.
Tumblr media
The staff are very friendly and polite. They have clear technical knowledge about the products they sell and has a friendly dealing with the customers. They described to us about the latest varieties of appliances available and their features. They not at all hesitated in repeating the details again and again in times when we were not able to understand the modern features of the appliances in the first try.
Once after purchasing from Rajan & Co, we will surely go back to them every time we plan to purchase home appliances. They also gave us the best exchange offers and purchase rates. This had really given us a delightful shopping experience. The price of the products was already on discount rates, but as it was the festival season, we also got the seasonal discounts.
One of the other thigs we were really happy about is that they gave us amazing EMI schemes. Usually, the EMI schemes of these home appliance stores won’t be much beneficial to the customers. But, Rajan & Co. offered the best EMI schemes. We made use of the Bajaj schemes. There were also other financial facilities of HDB Capital and HDFC financial facilities etc available for the people. The schemes were also super satisfactory.
