There are so few things left to talk about now that havent already been talked about that some people have just gotten a weird fixation on an idea like "Haha what if toby doesn't actually use this obviously set-up leitmotif in future tracks AT ALL even though that would be really out of character for how he's been extremely well-established to make music Wouldn't that be so funny and surprising" and it's like. Wow. This prediction is both poorly-conceived AND uninteresting? It's not even wacky in its badness. What do you gain from this
i still dont get how people would keep saying "the early version of the spamton neo music having more of the world revolving in it than the final one does means that somehow future secret boss music probably won't have the world revolving in it at all" Like those are two completely unrelated thoughts?? There is no correlation here??? What do you even think you're trying to say???
#like if this very specific thing occurred i think most people would just be like ''Huh. Thats weird. Ah well''#mypost#dt#I know i saw one person like years ago say they thought that no more secret bosses would have TWR's leitmotif#specifically because they wanted it to be the jevil spamton leitmotif ONLY because they shipped them.#But like in this current wave i see people saying this without even that much motivation?#You just want the music to not contain the cool part for fun? Not even for love. What's the point then.#All music should have the cool part.

a thought about the new spamton song from the newsletter
i could go on for ours about how this song sounds. About how different of an atmosphere it presents. Howit sounds scattered, distressed. how it sound desperate, like a true last ditch effort by spamton. Or how it borrows WAY more from power of neo. But what really catches my interest is the TWR section of the song, and how its extended in this track. It makes me think that maybe weve been wrong about the freedom motif, and maybe spamton and jevil are FAR more interconnected than we thought, especially with that TWR section being planned this early into chp 2 development.

AU update time!! There’s some things I’ve been tweaking about the storyline, setup, character roles, etc as well as some minor design changes. I’ve also been working on some music for the series and I already have a TWR for Laplace in my drafts, I just dunno if it’s actually as good as my friends say 😓
I also have the first chapter of the AO3 fic I’ll be making for the AU in my drafts, I’m just procrastinating to post it. Hopefully I’ll build up the courage at some point. For now, I’ll try to work on a simple MV for the music I have ready and possibly remake the reference sheets from the pinned message because my old art style is so,,yeesh
That’s all for now, take these assorted doodles where I reveal to y’all that Laplace has what my partner calls “Ralsei Eyes”.

Top 5. Fanfic authors :) Or if you feel like it: Top 10
Ooh hello hello! Thanks for the ask! Also for the "more" allowance, as I'm notoriously bad at staying within the allowable number of anything 😂 More is more!! I'll make a solid effort to stay within 5 if I can, so let's see!
perverse_idyll (@perverse-idyll): Longtime fave. As in...when was The White Road first posted? '08, '09? Since then, essentially. I read TWR and was sold and I've been sold ever since. PI is such a thoughtful, sharp, crafty, passionate writer. More than that, we are very closely aligned in how we see the characters and dynamics and she writes in a way that feels so honest and true to who they are. All of her work is so gorgeous and real and forever strikes a chord in my soul. All the better now that I can call her friend and know that she's just as fabulous a human as she is a writer! :)
Writcraft (@writcraft): Another writing crush turned friend! They have written so many incredible stories across multiple pairings, though in the beginning I only read Snarry of course! They have such a great variety, not only with fandoms and ships, but genres, from darker and angstier works (Tangled Web, Dirge Without Music) to more wholesome and romantic stories (Friends of Dorothy, Luck of the Draw.) I love their focus on different types of relationships, and especially appreciate the dedication to queer themes that feels both celebratory and validating, for all of the joy and hurt of the queer experience. (How We Were Warriors for queer themes & history, A Life Worth Remembering for polyamory.) And the boldness in some works that feel more experimental and different (Breathless for a poetic second person POV, Birdsong for the creepy horror.)...If I remember correctly, Hector's Arms was my first Writ fic and I clicked on their profile and happily gorged myself on their other works. And found not only fics I didn't know I needed, and have reread time and again (Broken Promises, Shattered Dreams; A Lion's Heart; Loved You a Long Time), but also one of my favorite fics in general, The Beating of This Fragile Heart!
Arrisha (@arrisha-ao3): Brilliant, brilliant writer! Also a ruthless sadist I'm pretty sure. I am deeply in awe of the emotional devastation she leaves in her wake. The brutal angst of it all is truly, truly admirable, my hat is off to her for that. And while Ab Intra, Ab Extra and The Syntax of Things are brilliant...I am extra in love with her shorter works, Loose Ends and Molly's Advice. I like to think I'm an angst lover, but woo-boy does Arrisha make me wanna grab a white flag sometimes. She knows just where to pull on those heartstrings and strangle you with them. (I feel like this is coming across as both rude and terrifying, but I could not be gushing more, I swear.)
drawlight | ripeteeth (@foxconfessorandthewolf): Though their works aren't currently online right now, still a favorite. The Forest King!! I loved that fic. The Lighthouse Keeper...Strange Pilgrims...Suspiria...so many goodies. Their writing is truly phenomenal (even their original writings I had a peek at!) The stunning and vivid and gritty prose, that manages to be both poetic and sharp as a knife. GOD. Killer writing. 10/10. I have their works saved to my Kindle 🙏 And I'm always excited when I see their works on AO3 again! Have to mention them since they are truly one of the best and I have all the love for them AND their work!!
eldritcher: Their work is so strange, and in the most unique and lovely of ways. "Strange" can seem so rude but I know they know what I mean by it! They craft their works with such purpose and thoughtfulness and with such great love for words and imagery and mythology. All of their works are ripe with meaning, and strung together with such artistic precision! There is nothing out there like eldritcher's works, I swear, and I am in LOVE with what they do. I discovered their work through @consistentsquash's rec for The Tumtum Tree and had to devour what more I could find! Dithyramb, Pasiphaë, Ariel, and other great snarries! I am eagerly awaiting the final chapter of The Lamb of Tartary! Then other interesting tales and ships in The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife, Plenitude, Exaltation, Once of Eden. I am so amazed of their mind and their craft and am forever excited to see what else they're working on!!
I could probably carry on with more, but I think that makes for a nice solid Top 5 list...😅 Though if it bothers me too much I'll come back later to reblog with more 👀 Goodness knows I've read a lot and there are many creators I admire so so much!! 😌

Bittersweet,
A world made up of lies covered in chocolate
There’s a truth that most dare not to eat
Tell me a tall tale you better make it sweet
when reality comes I’ll sweep it under a sheet
A fairytale that feeds into my vanity
Facts that drive me closer to insanity
A fictional life to please a boys wishes
The nonfiction that pushes a mans mission
Waking up is a bittersweet decision

i was checking uses of the don’t forget leitmotif in the first two chapters, and i’d never really thought about it much, but DF doesn’t actually appear in that many tracks, especially after chapter 1. it mostly appears in tracks that bookend the chapters/game; it doesn’t come up much in the dark world adventures themselves (aside from a little usage in “field of hopes and dreams”/“scarlet forest”/“the world revolving,” a trend which doesn’t continue in chapter 2’s overworld or superboss themes). it mostly plays out-of-bounds, in the light world, and when we seal fountains. ok also the track “friendship” but whatever you get what i mean
with that in mind — you know where it does come up during our adventures? The Dark Truth. the Roaring Prophecy track. one of only three new tracks introduced in chapter 2 that uses the DF leitmotif, and the only one of those three that appears during the actual game (rather than menus/credits). the one that also contains a Lost Girl quote, which it uses interchangeably with the Don’t Forget quote, musically connecting Lost Girl (possibly representative of dess?) to both the Roaring as a concept and Don’t Forget as a song.
the way it appears in the track is interesting to me, too. similarly to the “once upon a time” leitmotif in undertale, the “don’t forget” leitmotif seems to normally be used to evoke comfort and familiarity. when contextualized by the actual song itself, the leitmotif has an added layer of intimacy, trust, and understanding. The Dark Truth plays that melody on a reverberating piano(1) that sounds small, sad, wistful, and unsure against the menacing, mournful drone of the chorus and strings — the first time we’ve really heard this leitmotif in an overtly dark context (even TWR is still an upbeat, energetic song that blasts the DF quote at us on hype-ass trumpets). where DF normally represents a promise of hope, this feels like a loss of that hope; or, maybe, a promise broken; a dream becoming a nightmare, a haunting regret, one that apparently has to do with Roarings and Lost Girls somehow. compare this to the sheer triumph of the same leitmotif in “Your Power,” when a fountain is closed and the Roaring kept at bay.
who is it that might be feeding ralsei these Prophecies? who seeks a new ending and grieves when darkness falls? do these Prophecies exist because their writer has seen it all before? does The Dark Truth represent a premonition, or a memory?

"Mayhem in Limbo Space" Meme Compilation for August-2023
Never gets old...
A robot, a droid, my life for a synthetic!
The "Lion from the North" song and its overall "Carolus Rex" music album from Sabaton
youtube
youtube
So that oldie angsty meme collection is cool and all but seems to be some great potential for making short memetic scenes.
I can imagine at least one short film around that compilation, as a eldritch twist on a generic horror short film turning from a "cabin in the woods" into a "war action sequence" situation between the slasher and the final girl, going terribly haywire for the aggressor as the lady gets her revenge and goes apeshit onto society henceforth for allowing such a criminal to go unpunished.
Most likely occurring within the context of a German Axis-victory world months before the nuclear Endekrieg / Armageddon if I am to guess (might be TNO, TWR, MachineGames' Wolfenstein, Jin-Roh The Wolf Brigade, AlternateHistoryHub's or literally something custom of that authoritarian feel). Set somewhen in a early-middle seventies (~1973-1975) around Rostock and the overall state of Mecklenburg, retro analog video editing workflow and with a slow-burn Stalker 1979 + AlienTheEighthPassenger 1979 with political thriller intrigues & a mass surveillance extremely restricted computation vibe going across.

Ah of course, the best car at launch. It was a prize ride once, months ago, and so I have one on PS5. Not at all quick by modern standards, but the engine note is exquisite.
Long before the days of the HSW Cyclone II, the original Cyclone was the acceleration-monster supercar. I had one on old gen, which I kept in a very real-life spec. I missed the lack of a spoiler sometimes, but it just didn't fit visually.
I once bought a Penetrator on PS4 as a budget foray into the Supercars class. Then, later, I've sold it. After some years' time, having acquired wealth, I bought one again. I turned that one into a TWR version replica and kept it. Looks just as much like a fish as the real thing.
The T20 feels like something I had to be there for. Having started playing in 2017, I can't say I was. But I did own one, which I made into a replica from the music video to Starboy by The Weeknd. What's more, I think that is his personal car. The color on mine is a bit off though.
I won't pretend to be a Countach expert, but the Torero's rear wheels seem normal to me... I think I also did notice that the interior color wasn't allowed to be changed, but I didn't really expect it to be. When it came out, I had just started playing. Each of my characters owned one though. The PS4 one had gone through several iterations before I settled on a replica from a Migos music video of all things. I bought the PS5 one just after I had seen Cannonball Run, obviously to make a replica.
What do you get when you combine an engine of a supercar, the handling of a sporty iron ingot, and the suspension of an Itali GTO? You get the quickest SUV in the game, as well as the fastest 4-seater. And without Special Works of Hao in the equation, I think it still is. Every SUV racing situation the Toros was in, it either dominated or was flying off the road/track after hitting a particularly sketchy bump in the road. No in-between. My old-gen one went through an iteration or two, but I ultimately settled on a racecar build.
You wouldn't think a car based on the McLaren F1 would be underrated. But I feel like that is exactly what the GP1 is. Yeah, it was not that fast, or (as I remember it) all that interesting to drive. It wasn't bad in either regard though. And looking back, it had a plethora of customization for an early-2017 car. My only PS4 unit used to look like the F1 I had in a mobile game CSR Racing 2. Then, later, I learned about the saga of Ed Bolian and the El Chapo F1, and I just had to recreate it.
On the topic of GTA supercars with a different ⁓vibe⁓ than their real-life counterpart, the 811. The Porsche 918: legendary halo car, marvel of engineering, one of the holy trinity of hybrid hypercars, etc. etc. The Pfister 811 on the other hand? Affordable supercar with a slightly insane top speed. Recently discovered to be a competent drift car for out-of-the-box thinkers. I always liked how it looked, though I haven't driven my old gen example that much.
I apologize for not having dollar rims, chrome paint, and green neons on my Adder. Like any classic car, such an old vehicle should always be outfitted with period-accurate mods. I will do better in the future.
The Cyclone was my absolute favorite of the electric cars. It looked cool and it was fast enough to be enjoyable, especially when it got up to highway speeds in reverse. Low grip tires only made it even more chaotic and goofy.
A Penetrator drives into a bar. The bartender asks, “Why the long face?”
Once it stopped being the poster child of race car power creep, the T20 was a comfortable, if benign, little supercar. It was the first vehicle to have an active spoiler, which is something I wish had been retroactively ported to the game’s older cars that would have had one. At least they quickly gained popularity.
Is it just me, or does the Torero have really tiny rear wheels? I don’t remember the Countach looking like a platform cart with a body kit. Still, I was born in the ‘80s so I was obligated to buy one. It was a decent car that served as another example of the developers’ ineptitude, as it was shown in official marketing material with a colorable interior, yet no such feature was available in the game without the use of clever glitches. All you had to do was tick the box to enable it, guys!
In a humorous parallel to real life, the Toros was an alarmingly quick SUV that was released with a faulty transmission. When driven hard in a particular manner, it was possible for it to get stuck in a high gear until it was manually shifted in and out of reverse. I don’t know about you, but I play GTA games to get away from car problems.
You’d think a McLaren F1 homage would have been a shoo-in for a GTA game, but it took years for the GP1 to make its debut. Sure, there was the Tyrus, but that was a track car and it wasn’t the same. I remember the GP1 being quite grippy, as well as for the novelty of having eight exhaust pipes.
While we never got a true M1, getting an interpretation of its supercar descendant wasn’t so bad. The SC1 was a favorite of mine for its futuristic looks and its lovely louvers.
When the 811 showed up to the party, you knew you were about to have a good time. This curvaceous beauty was derided for its poor track times, but only true believers knew the spirit of the Autobahn dwelled within it. An incredible top speed made it ideal for those long trips to Paleto Bay, and it could even hold its own against “meta” vehicles in stunt races where it had room to stretch its legs. Curb boosting and the low grip speed boost made it even more of an untamable monster that was sure to have its two passengers grinning from ear to ear as they careened into the side of a mountain.
From a distance, the Tyrant looked like just another supercar. When you got in one and pulled up next to someone at a traffic light, that was when its appeal was made clear: this car was friggin’ huge. Seriously, it was like those BMW M8 memes. The Tyrant had almost the same footprint as a Rhino tank. Its performance was nothing special, and it was a pain to customize, but there was something appealing about driving a supercar that was the size of a Super Duty.
