Bucky closed Daisy’s door quietly. Daisy was very tired from the long day. After breakfast Bucky took Daisy to her ballet class, then afterwards they took a trip to the Bronx Zoo. By the time they got home Daisy could hardly keep her eyes open. Once he got her all cleaned up and dressed for bed, she was asleep the second her head hit the pillow.
Bucky grabbed a beer from the fridge and his laptop on the dining table and made his way to the living room. He turned on the tv to whatever was on, and he turned the volume low. He took a swig of his beer and opened his laptop to check his emails.
He saw a few were from work, updating him on some info on his current case. Another was from the psychologist he emailed early this morning, Dr. Hope Pym.
I normally don’t do the scheduling, via email I tell patients to call Monday morning. In this case I’ll make an exception, seeing how you emailed me at four in the morning. I also happen to have an opening spot for Monday morning at 9am. If that works for you please respond as soon as you’re able to.

Bucky quickly sent a reply letting her know that the time slot works for him. He found himself relaxing even more knowing he’s doing the right thing. He closed his laptop and let his body relax further into the couch, watching whatever romantic comedy is on his tv.
He found himself drifting off until, his back pocket started to vibrate. He groaned, lifting his bottom half up to retrieve his phone.
“Hello,” he answered.
“Hey Buck,” Steve says, “Just calling to see how your day is going.”
“It went well,” Bucky stretches out,” took Daisy to the zoo. She’s now fast asleep. How was your day?”
“It was okay,” Steve sighed.
“You don’t sound very enthusiastic,” Bucky joked lightly, “You’re staying with your parents right? They giving you a hard time?”
“Yeah I am,” he says, “and quite the opposite actually. They’re giving me an extremely easy time. They actually took Sarah out for the day.”
“That was nice of them.”
“Yeah, but they wouldn’t even let me tag along,” Steve whined, “I had wanted to take Sarah to the park, but they snatched her right up. So I spent the day alone. No wife. No son. No daughter. Just by myself. And then when they got home my mom insisted on doing bedtime duty, and they’re keeping her in their room for the night.
“Not how I expected my Valentine’s Day to go,” Steve sighed, “But I guess the plus side was I was able to get a lot of work done.”
“That’s looking on the bright side,” Bucky agreed, “So I have something I want to tell you, but let's not make it a bigger thing than it already is.”
“Okay,” Steve agrees hesitantly.
“I made an appointment to see a physiologist,” Bucky tells him, “the one you gave me the number for.”
“Really?” Steve says, trying not to sound so excited about it.
“Yeah.”
“Can I ask what changed your mind?”
“Just something Daisy pointed out,” Bucky says without giving Steve too much detail, “Made me think over everything. So I decided to take the next step to figure out how I can live a more mentally healthy lifestyle, not just for myself but for Daisy.”
“Well I’m proud of you Buck,” Steve says, “I won’t make it a big deal, but just know that I am very proud of you for that step.”
“Thanks buddy,” Bucky yawns.
“Sounds like you had a long day,” Steve tells him, “I’ll talk to you tomorrow okay?”
“Night Steve,” Bucky says before hanging up the phone.
He turns off the TV and tidies up the living room, before disposing of his beer in the kitchen. He turns everything else off before turning in for the night.

[Y/N] was sitting on the couch going over her portfolio for tomorrow’s work day.
“Here you go,” Clark walks over handing [Y/N] a glass of wine.
“Thank you my love,” she smiles up at him, grabbing the drink and taking a sip before placing it down on the coffee table.
“Busy work week?” Clark asks her, sitting down on the couch next to her.
“Yeah, we’re basically redoing this couple’s home,” she tells him, glancing down at all the blueprints and swatches she has in the folder, “so this week will be spent driving around everywhere and taking the couple to look at samples and actually getting a real idea of what they want. The start of a new renovation is always the most hectic.”
“Is there anything I can do to help relieve some of the pressure this week?”
“Actually, do you think you can buy some groceries for me,” she says, “I didn’t have time this weekend, and Daisy comes back tomorrow.”
“Of course,” he kisses her temple.
“Thank you,” she smiles, “I’ll leave you a list before I go to work tomorrow.”
“I actually wanted to talk to you about a couple of things,” Clark says.
“Okay,” [Y/N] closes her folder and puts it on the coffee table to give Clark her full attention.
“So, we’ve been doing this back and forth thing from my place to your’s the last couple of months,” Clark nervously says, “You can say no, and I’ll completely understand if you’d want to wait til we get married, but what do you say about us officially moving in together?”
[Y/N] was a little taken back by Clark’s suggestion. Truth be told she never really gave it a thought, only because to her it just felt like they already live together. Since getting engaged Clark was always staying at her place. He’d go back to his apartment to get a few things but then he’d be back where she was.
“I don’t want you to feel like you have to say yes,” he cuts off her thoughts.
“No, no,” she reassures him, placing her hand on his thighs, “to be honest I never gave it a thought, only because it already feels like we live together. I forget that we actually have to make it official.”
“So?” He asks, trying not to sound overly excited.
“I would love for us to live together,” she smiles at him.
Clark kisses her, excited about this next step.
“You’re okay with moving in here right?” She asks, “At least for the time being. I just don’t want to have to move Daisy just yet. Seeing as her little world is already going through some big changes.”
‘I don’t mind at all,” Clark tells her, “Whatever makes things easier.”
“Was there something else you wanted to discuss?” She asks, “You mentioned a couple of things you wanted to talk about.”
“Yes,” he nods his head, “How are you feeling now about announcing our engagement?”
[Y/N] knew he was bound to ask. It’s been almost two months since they got engaged. Clark has been so understanding and caring about waiting to announce. At the end of the day though, [Y/N] knew they would have to make the announcement. The only ones that knew were her friends, Clark’s mom, and her parents.
“If you need more time that’s fine,” Clark reassured her, trying to hid his own hurt feelings, “My mom had just wanted to put out the announcement back home in her local newspaper. But I can tell her not just yet.”
“No,” [Y/N] cut him off, “It’s okay. You can tell your mom to go ahead.”
“Really?” Clark smiled.
“Yeah,” she matched his smile, “You’ve been so understanding about everything. There’s only so long I can ask you to wait for. Plus we’ll have to tell everyone eventually.”
“Are you sure?” Because I don’t want you to do this if you’re not ready.”
“Clark,” she says, “let’s announce our engagement.”
Clark grabbed her face and gave her the biggest kiss he’s ever given her. [Y/N] smiled through the kiss with how excited Clark was.

As [Y/N] tidied up her office, closing up for Valentine's weekend, her phone started to ring.
“Hello,” she answered, her phone tucked between her head and shoulder as she continues to collect papers from her desk.
“Hi love,” Clark greeted, “was seeing if we were still on for dinner tonight?”
“Yes,” she says, “I’m just cleaning up my office and grabbing a few things to work on this weekend at home. I should be out of here in five.”
“Perfect,” he smiles, “I’ll meet you back at your place. I have a bit of a surprise for you.”
“A surprise you say,” she smiles, holding onto her phone, grabbing her purse off of the hook by her door.
“Yup,” he grins.
“Do I get a hint of what that surprise might be,” she teases, turning off the lights in her office.
“Nope,” he says, popping the ‘p’.
“No fair,” she fake pouts, Clark lets out a boisterous laugh.
“I’ll see you soon. I love you.”
“I love you too,” she giggles, hanging up her phone and making her way out of the office.
The last month and a half have been bittersweet to say the least. Things between Clark and [Y/N] have been going great. [Y/N] wishes she could say the same for her relationship with Natasha.
They haven’t talked since New Year’s Day, Daisy’s birthday when Nat called out [Y/N] on her engagement. Followed by Natasha calling [Y/N] a bad mother, and Bucky having to ask Natasha to leave and to say away until she could act maturely about the engagement.
Truth be told the whole group was a bit on edge about the whole situation. No one wanted to upset any of the parties involved, at least more than they were already. They were all thankful for their busy work and life schedules as a distraction.
Bucky and Natasha were more cordial at work, having been assigned the same case. Natasha has tried to ask Bucky a few times how Daisy was doing, but every time he would shut her down. Telling her that if she truly wanted to know she would reconcile with her mother first. Natasha would then keep her mouth shut, not willingly to be the one to give in.
Bucky had never seen Natasha behave in such a way in all their years of friendship. Sure he’s seen her hold grudges to those that have screwed her over, but he’d never thought that [Y/N]’s engagement would be the cause to hold one against her most closest friend.
Secretly Bucky wouldn’t admit it to anyone, but he sort of agreed with Natasha. Of course not the part where she insinuated that [Y/N] was a bad mother, or the way she handled the news. But he did think that [Y/N] and Clark were moving a tad fast.
Would he ever say that aloud? No.
Bucky had sworn to himself after the Yelena debacle that he would never bring any more drama to [Y/N]’s life ever again. If that meant biting his tongue to allow her to be happy, then so be it. He’s been quiet about his feelings for [Y/N] since he was 14 years-old, that’s almost 16 years. He doesn’t doubt he can continue with this secret for the rest of his life. And like Angelica Schuyler said in Hamilton, at least I keep her eyes in my life.
So while everyone is off celebrating Valentine’s weekend with their significant others, Bucky was picking up dinner, ice-cream, and flowers for his special date.
Bucky knocked on the apartment door and waited. He could hear some commotion on the other side of the door.
The door opened and his legs were instantly attacked.
“Daddy,” he heard Daisy squeal into his legs.
“Daisy,” he matched her tone of excitement, “Did you have a fun day with Auntie Becca?”
“Yes, lots of fun,” Daisy smiled, trying to look into the bag Bucky was holding.
“I don’t know how she manages to turn my entire apartment upside down every time,” Rebecca jokes, handing Daisy’s small backpack over.
“Send me the bill,” he grabs Daisy’s bag and puts one strap over his shoulder, “Thanks again Bex, I really appreciate it.”
“Any time, what are aunties for,” she bent down to give Daisy a hug.
“Any special plans for tonight?” Bucky asks.
“Nah, just staying in with the roommmates. Order in and get d-r-u-n-k,” she winked at him.
“What happened to that dude you were seeing? What was his name? Bill?”
“Daniel,” Rebecca laughed, “And I ended that weeks ago.”
“Oh no, what happened?”
“Nothing,” she says, “absolutely nothing. Which is why I ended it.”
“Well here’s hoping the next one works out,” Bucky raises the bag he was carrying as a toast.
“Say bye to Aunite Bex,” Bucky grabs a hold of Daisy’s hand with his empty one.
“Bye bye auntie,” Daisy waves bye as she and Bucky walk away.
Daisy spent the whole walk back home talking Bucky’s ear off. He looked down every so often to watch how animated she spoke.
Once back home, Bucky and Daisy got ready for dinner.
“Mmm this is delicious Daddy,” Daisy hummed as she ate the plate of spaghetti.
“It really is, isn’t it,” he smiled at his daughter, watching her stuff as much pasta as her little mouth can fit.
“Also, thank you for the pretty flowers,” she smiled at him, her face covered in sauce.
Bucky let out a loud laugh, “Anything for you sweetie.”
After dinner, Bucky cleaning up the table while a cleaned up Daisy was scrolling through Disney+ trying to find a movie for them to watch.
Bucky walked over to the living room with two bowls of ice-cream.
“Did you pick a movie?” He asked, sitting next to his daughter.
“Yeah! Tangled,” she smiled, scooting closer to Bucky.
“Perfect choice,” he praised her, handing her her ice-cream.
An hour into the movie it was so quiet Bucky thought Daisy had fallen asleep, until he heard her soft voice.
“Daddy?” She whispered.
“Yes love,” he looked down to where she was cuddled up against his right side.
“Are you going to get married?” She asks, completely taking Bucky by surprise.
“What?”
“Are you going to get married? You know like mommy is going to marry Clark. Are you going to get married too?”
Bucky was taken back by what his daughter was asking him. He had always known how smart and observant Daisy was, and this conversation was proof.
“No honey, I’m not going to get married,” he gently tells her.
“How come?” She looked up at him, eyes filled with worry and innocence.
“Well daddy doesn’t have anyone to marry the way mommy has Clark,” he tells her.
“But don’t you want to be happy?” Her little voice quivers.
“Oh honey,” he quickly pulls her into a hug, “I am happy. I’m very happy. I don’t need to be married to be happy.”
“No you’re not,” she shakes her head, “I see Daddy looking sad every time Mommy and Clark come pick me up. Or i see Daddy sad around his friends, and they are married.
“Daddy is the only one who is not married, and he is the only one who is sad,” she cries.
Bucky swallows the lump in his throat and fights back the tears in his eyes. He never realized his daughter would be the one to see right through his facade. Seeing her upset because she thinks he’s not happy breaks his heat in a way he’s never felt before.
Bucky let go of Daisy, and got off of the couch to kneel in front of it to look Daisy directly in the eyes.
“Daisy, hun look at me,” he gently persuaded her, she slowly lifted her head to look him in the eyes.
“Good girl,” he smiles, “Here’s the only thing I need you to know okay. No matter how sad I might look, I am still very happy. I will always be more happy than sad. And that’s all because of you. You make me so happy. The happiest I’ve ever been.
“I have so much happiness in my life that even when I’m sad, it’s okay. It’s okay because I know that at the end of the day all that sadness won’t hurt me because I have all this happiness to protect me. I know that the sadness won’t last forever, and that’s good. I don’t even want you to have to worry about me, okay? Because Daddy will be okay. Daddy is happy.”
“What about Mommy?” She asked, as Bucky gently wipes her tears away.
“Same goes for Mommy. She’s very happy-“
“No,” Daisy cuts him off, “Doesn’t mommy make you happy?”
“Of course Mommy makes me happy,” he tells her, nodding his head.
“Then you should marry Mommy.”
“What?” Bucky freezes up.
“If Mommy makes you happy then you should marry Mommy.”
“But Mommy is going to marry Clark,” Bucky tells her.
“Yeah, but Mommy loves you more than Clark,” Daisy tells him with wide eyes.
“Why do you think that?” He gently asks her.
“Because both Mommy and Daddy love Daisy more than anything. I make you two very happy so you and Mommy should get married.”
“Oh sweetie,” Bucky pauses, thinking his next words carefully, “That is true. We both love you more than anything, but Mommy loves Clark a lot and he makes her very happy. More happier than Daddy could ever.”
“Don’t you want to marry Mommy?” She asks.
“Honey,” Bucky softly says, grabbing her hands, “Anyone would be ever so lucky to marry Mommy, but Mommy is the one who gets to choose that and Mommy chose Clark. So we gotta be supportive and happy that Mommy found someone that loves her and loves you a lot.”
“Don’t you like Clark?” He asks her.
“Yes I like Clark,” she sniffles, “he’s very nice and fun to play with.”
“Does Clark make you happy?”
“Yes,” she nods her head, “But not as happy as you make me.”
“And that’s okay,” he smiles, “So if Clark is nice, fun, and makes you and Mommy happy, shouldn’t we be happy he’ll be a part of our family?”
“Yes,” she nods again.
“Do you want Clark to be a part of our family?” He asks her the one question he and [Y/N] haven’t thought of to ask Daisy.
He and [Y/N] have been so caught up in the Natasha drama of it all, they haven’t even stopped to ask Daisy how she feels about it all. Just assuming she would be okay with it because of her age. Bucky instantly feels guilty for not checking in on the one person this truly affects the most.
Change is always hard on a four year-old. Especially with Daisy who has only ever known her mom and dad being the ones to care for her. She was always the main priority, now with her mom’s sudden relationship change in such a quick pace of time, she is no doubt bound to have many thoughts flying in her little head.
Daisy ponders the question her dad asked her. Bucky watches silently, waiting for his little girl’s answer.
“Daddy,” she whispers ever so quietly.
“Yes,” he matches her tone.
“You can’t tell Mommy okay,” she says, holding out her pinky.
“Okay,” Bucky agrees, latching his bigger pinky to her small one, in a silent pinky promise.
“I like our family with just you, Mommy, and me,” she honestly answers, “we don’t need anyone else.”
Bucky didn’t know what to say to that. He never expected to hear Daisy say anything remotely close to that.
He paused trying to collect his thoughts and what the ‘right’ move here would be.
He took a deep breath in and slowly let it out.
“Don’t you think it’s kinda special to have someone who loves you so much that they want to be a part of your family?”
Daisy shrugged her shoulders, “I already have a lot of family. I don’t need anymore.”
Bucky sighed, “You do have a lot of people that care and love you.”
Daisy nods her head, “I don’t need another Daddy. I already have the best Daddy, and that’s all I want.”
“I mean having two daddies is kind of special,” he says.
“Nuh uh,” Daisy shakes her head, “Leslie’s mommy got married and she now has two daddies. And she said her mommy loves her new daddy more, and they are having a baby. And now her mommy doesn’t spend any time with Leslie because she loves the new daddy and baby more. So Leslie only lives with her daddy now.”
Bucky sadly sighs, remembering hearing about Daisy’s classmate’s mother leaving her and her father to start a new life with a rich socialite. Bucky would see the father whenever he would pick Daisy up from school. The man looked like he was barely holding on. Bucky had given him his number if he ever needed any help, or if he just needed a friend. He never did call Bucky.
“Mommy would never do that to you,” Bucky tries to reassure the now tearful child. He pulled her onto his lap and held her.
“Mommy would never leave you like that,” he tells her, “Mommy loves you so much that she would be very sad if she left you. Mommy doesn’t even like to go away for too long cause she misses you so much.
“Mommy marrying Clark doesn’t mean she’s going to leave you. It just means she loves Clark so much that she wants him to be with her every day for the rest of their lives. But that also includes you. Mommy knows how much Clark loves you too. Also Mommy is very smart, she wouldn’t have chosen Clark if she knew he didn’t want to be in your life as well.”
“Clark loves you just as much as he loves your mommy,” Bucky reassures her, “He just wants you to be happy.”
“I don’t want him to be my daddy though,” she sniffles into Bucky’s shirt, “I just want you.”
“And you have me,” he holds onto her a little more tightly, “You will always have me Daisy. For the rest of your life. You’re stuck with my kid. And just know I will always be your dad, up until my dying days, even then I will always be with you.”
He pulls away, pointing to her temple, “I will be in there. All the memories we have are safe and sound in your brain. As long as you can remember, I’ll be there.”
“Do you understand?”
“Yes,” she nods her head, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
“I love you,” Bucky tells her.
“I love you too,” she gives him a small smile.
Bucky hugs her and kisses the top of her head.
“Think it’s time for bed, what do you say?” He asks getting up and holding his hand out for her.
“Yeah, I’m tired,” she rubs her eyes and grabs his hand.
“Daddy can I sleep with you please?”
“Of course honey,” he says.
Bucky laid awake in the middle of the night with Daisy clutched onto his shirt afraid to let him go. His thoughts were running a million miles per hour. He kept repeating the conversation he had with Daisy. Debating whether or not he needs to bring it up to [Y/N], maybe omitting certain details he promised her he would keep a secret. The last thing he wanted to do as well was violate his daughter’s trust in revealing things he promised to keep a secret.
Being a parent wasn’t always easy, and in this moment it was the hardest thing Bucky had ever had to deal with.
He could try to convince Daisy into letting her mother know how she feels, but he knows Daisy wouldn’t say the whole truth. Not wanting to ruin her mother’s happiness.
He could possibly get Daisy into seeing a child therapist, but then he would need to tell [Y/N] why he thinks Daisy should see one. Which then again violates his daughter’s trust in him.
He could talk to one of his friends about it, but then knowing with everything going on, he’s sure it’ll give them more reason not to support [Y/N]’s decision in marrying Clark. He can’t add more fuel to that fire.
All Bucky knew was he needed to do something to ease his daughter’s worrying thoughts. He needs to make her feel safe that her mother wasn’t just going to abandon her. And that Clark wasn’t replacing him as her father.
Bucky reaches for his phone on his nightstand.
In the morning Daisy was all smiles as she and Bucky got ready to head to breakfast. The night before never even happened in her little mind. At least for the time being.
As they walked to the diner, Bucky felt himself a bit more at ease after last night. He felt a weight lifted off his shoulder.
Just before he went to bed last night he sent out an email. A while ago Steve had given Bucky a number to a person to talk to. Bucky just shrugged it off and threw the paper away, telling Steve he was fine.
Bucky was in fact not fine. And he can now see and acknowledge that. Especially when it was now affecting his daughter.
So Bucky sent an email to a psychologist.
The first step he had to take to truly provide a better life not just for Daisy, but for himself.

6:00 a.m. Bucky hits the off button on his alarm, signaling the start of the new week. He made a mental list of what needed to be done that morning to get him and Daisy out the door by 7:30 to make sure she made it to school on time, and he made it to his appointment at 9 a.m.
He checked his phone and saw he had a message from Rebecca, “How come you didn’t tell me [Y/N] is engaged,” it read.
He instantly shot up.
Fuck man not today,  he thought.
He quickly opened up Instagram and there it was, the first thing he saw on his timeline.
“Seriously [Y/N], no heads up,” he threw his blanket off of his body and got out of bed.
At 6:30 he went to wake Daisy up. He set her clothes to the side for her to dress herself.

As he was getting breakfast ready, he decided to give [Y/N] a call, he glanced at the microwave time while the phone rang, 6:40.
“Hello?” Clark answered [Y/N]’s phone.
‘Oh hey Clark,” Bucky responds, taken back by hearing Clark’s voice. He can feel himself getting frustrated with [Y/N] not answering her phone.
“Morning Bucky,” Clark happily greeted him.
“Hey Clark,” Bucky says, “I need to talk to [Y/N] is she around?”
“She just went in the shower,” Clark tells him, sensing Bucky’s curt mood, “I can have her call you once she gets out. Need me to take a message?”
“No, just have her call me once she’s out,”he tells him, “As soon as possible please. Preferably before 8:30, I have a meeting at 9.”
“I take it you saw the announcement,” Clark says.
“Just have [Y/N] call me please,” he repeats himself before hanging up the phone.
As much as Bucky likes Clark, this is a conversation he needs to have with [Y/N].
At 6:45, Daisy walks out to the kitchen dressed for school. Bucky gives her a smile, and places her breakfast in front of her as she takes a seat at the table.
He keeps his phone close to him while they eat breakfast. He didn’t want to tell Daisy just yet, not until he talked to [Y/N].
“All done Daddy,” Daisy says, showing him her empty plate.
“Good job,” Bucky smiles at her, “Let’s go do your hair.”
He glances at his phone, the time reading 7:10.
Daisy stood on a stool in between Bucky and the bathroom vanity, as he did her hair.
“Honey, there’s something I should tell you,” he gently says, looking at her through her reflection in the mirror, “You might hear some things about mommy and Clark at school today.”
“Why?” The wide eyed four year-old asks.
“Well mommy and Clark have told the world that they’re getting married,” he watches her reaction carefully.
“But mommy said that was a secret,” she says confused, “she made me promise not to tell.”
“Yes it was a secret,” Bucky tells her, “It was a secret, for just a little bit. But now mommy and Clark are ready for everyone to know their happy news.”
“But mommy didn’t tell me that,” Daisy says, still confused why her mother would tell everyone a secret.
Bucky is once again reminded of just how young his daughter truly is.
He places her headband on her head.
“I know,” he sighs, “mommy should’ve called you to let you know that it’s no longer a secret. But she and Clark were just too excited.”
“You’re not supposed to tell secrets to others,” Daisy frowned, “we pinky promised.”
“I’m sure mommy didn’t mean to break your pinky promise,” he says, glancing at his watch,  7:22.
“How about you go put your shoes on and I’ll give mommy a call.”
“Okay,” she runs off to go put her shoes on.
Bucky calls [Y/N] again. Still no answer. He frustratingly hung up the phone. He tries his best not to let his frustration show once Daisy meets him in the living room.
“Got my shoes on Daddy,” she says walking up to him.
“Perfect,” he smiles down at her, “Mommy didn’t answer. So we’ll have to talk to her after school.”
“Okay,” she quietly says.
Bucky helped Daisy put on her coat and backpack. He quickly texted [Y/N], before exiting his place with Daisy.

On the walk to her school, Bucky noticed how quiet Daisy was being. He stops walking.
“Daisy, hon, are you okay?” He asks her.
“I don’t feel so good,” she clutches her stomach.
Bucky reaches to feel her forehead, but as soon as he does Daisy bends over and throws up all on the sidewalk.
“Shit,” he says quickly, grabbing her hair and bending down to her level.
Daisy starts to cry, and Bucky quickly pulls her into his arms.
“It’s okay,” he soothes her.
He picks her up and turns back around. He glances at his phone, 7:40. He sped up his walk back to his place.
Once they got back home, he lays Daisy down on the couch and pulls out his phone.
He immediately calls [Y/N]. Still no answer.
He then calls Clark. No answer there either.
He quietly curses under his breath. He tries to call [Y/N] one more time. He couldn’t believe she wasn’t answering her phone. This has never happened. They have always answered each other’s calls and messages.
At 8:05 he gave up trying to call her. He went down his contact list. He had 40 minutes to get someone down here if he wanted to make his appointment in time.
He couldn’t call Rebecca, she had work today and his parents were also working.
He called Carol, who unfortunately told him she and Valkyrie were driving back into town, and she wasn’t sure they would be able to make it to him in time.
Wanda and Steve were still dealing with their own sick child. Loki and Pietro have a newborn, and he didn’t want to chance Daisy getting them sick.
That only leaves him with one option; Sam and Natasha.
At this point he didn’t care if [Y/N] got mad at him. She wasn’t answering her phone and that’s on her.
Sam had an 8:30 meeting, but Natasha was free until 11 a.m. She quickly rushed over. She arrived at 8:40.
“Thank-you so much Natasha,” Bucky thanked her once she arrived., “I really appreciate this.”
“Don’t stress about it,” she says sitting on the couch with Daisy.
“I already gave her some medicine, if she gets worse please call me,” he tells her walking towards the front door.
“Will do,” she nods her head at him, while stroking Daisy’s hair.
Bucky arrived at his appointment just at 9 a.m. The doctor notices Bucky’s frazzled state. His suit was slightly out of place, his hair was no longer perfectly combed.
“Mr. Barnes,” Dr. Pym says, sticking her hand out for him to shake.
“Dr. Pym,” he shakes her hand, “thank-you so much for seeing me on such short notice.
He follows her into the smaller office, and takes a seat on the couch.
“Let’s begin shall we,” she warmly says.

[Y/N] steps out of the steaming shower with Clark following closely behind her. She grabs a towel and wraps it around her body, while Clark wraps his towel around his waist.
“That was a great way to begin a Monday,” Clark smirks, wrapping his arms from behind [Y/N]. He places a kiss on her bare shoulder.
“Well get ready because we’ll be starting a lot of our mornings that way,” [Y/N] flirts back.
“Aren’t I so lucky,” he smiles before separating from her, “Don’t forget you need to call Bucky back.”
“Shit, right,” she says remembering why Clark went to the bathroom in the first place, “What time is it?”
Clark looks at his watch on the vanity, “Shit it’s 8:15. We’re going to be late.”
They both quickly got ready without so much as a glance at their phones.
Clark grabs his messenger bag from the dining room table, then he grabs his phone. He notices that he has called and texted him. He checks the time, 8:50, Bucky texted him 30 minutes ago.
“Bucky needs you to call him,” Clark calls out to [Y/N] as he closes the vague text, “He says ASAP.”
“I’ll call him on my way to work,” [Y/N] says walking towards Clark.
“Might have to wait. He mentioned something earlier about having an important meeting at 8:30,” Clark says, holding out a to-go coffee cup for [Y/N].
“Okay, I’ll call him in an hour,” she says, throwing her phone into her purse without so much as glancing at it.
She grabs the cup from Clark and they both head out for the day.
[Y/N] arrives at the office building, she greets the building’s receptionist and security guard. She glances at the clock on the lobby wall, 9:15.
Just a little late, she thought.
She steps into the elevator and presses the button for the floor the Cozy Home office is on. Takes her less than a minute for the doors to open to her office floor.
She walks through the office entrance to see both Carol and Valkyrie made it back from their weekend upstate.
“You guys made it back,” she greets them with a huge smile on her face.
“Yup,” Val says, “Just got in a few minutes ago.”
“Oh good,” [Y/N] says, walking into her office.
“How’s Daisy doing?” Carol asks, following [Y/N] into her office with Val close by.
“Good, I would assume,” she says, “She’s always in a great mood after spending the week with Bucky. I’m sure I’ll hear all about it when I pick he up from school.”
[Y/N] sits at her desk and starts going through her papers. Completely oblivious to the look Carol and Valkyrie are sharing. Both were confused about their friend’s behavior.
“School?” Val speaks up.
“Did Bucky not call you?” Carol says.
[Y/N] immediately freezes and looks up. Concern etched all across her friends’ faces.
“Clark said he did but I missed his call and he’s in some meeting. I was going to call him as soon as I got in. Why?” [Y/N] immediately gets up and starts looking through her purse for her phone.
“He called us this morning,” Carol says, “apparently Daisy threw up on their way to school. She’s sick. He was trying to find someone to watch her while he attended his meeting.”
[Y/N] pulls out her phone and sees all the missed calls and messages from Bucky.
“Fuck,” she says, frantically calling him but she got no answer.
“Why isn’t he answering,” she freaks out.
“He said he had a really important meeting,” Valkyrie says, watching [Y/N] frantically call Bucky over and over again.
“Who’s taking care of her?” What kind of meeting is more important than our sick daughter?”
“You need to calm down,” Carol calmly tells her, “I’m sure everything is fine and Bucky found a sitter. He kept her home because she threw up and had a slight fever. I’m sure it’s just a stomach bug.”
“Why wouldn’t he text me what’s going on?”
“Clearly he did try to reach you,” Val says nodding her head towards [Y/N]’s cell phone, resisting the urge to roll her eyes at [Y/N] blaming Bucky, “Didn’t you hear your phone?”
“No,” she shakes her head, “Clark had answered it and told Bucky I would call him, but…”
“But what?” Val asks.
“I might’ve gotten distracted,” [Y/N] says, feeling herself get embarrassed.
“By what?” Carol prods her.
“I was taking a shower and Clark joined me,” she says, glancing away.
“Oh,” they both said in unison catching on to [Y/N] implications of her morning activities.
“By the time we got out we were both running late,” she explains, “Clark did remind me to call Bucky as we were leaving, but then he mentioned that Bucky was probably in his meeting already.”
“I just don’t get why he couldn’t text me what’s going on,” [Y/N] sighed, scrolling through her contacts.
“He clearly wanted to talk to you and I’m just assuming he had a busy morning as well,” Carol tells her shrugging her shoulders.
“Well he could’ve at least told me where Daisy is at, and who’s taking care of her,” she says, placing her phone to her ear.
“Rebecca, hey,” [Y/N] says on the phone, “Do you happen to have Daisy?”
“No, I’m at work.” Rebecca says, “Why?”
“Apparently, she stayed home from school sick, but I can’t get a hold of your brother to figure out who has her.”
“Oh, I’m sure she’s okay,” Rebecca says, “But hey I gotta get back to work.”
“Right, sorry,” [Y/N] apologizes.
“No worries, oh also congratulations on the engagement,” Rebecca says, with a bit of a bite to her tone, “my coworker told me. Apparently you and Clark are a trending topic.”
“Apparently,” [Y/N] awkwardly says, “Thanks for the congrats. I’ll see you around.”
[Y/N] hangs up her phone and turns her attention back to Carol and Val, “She’s not with Rebecca.”
“[Y/N], I’m sure she’s fine,” Carol says, “It’s already 9:40 a.m. I’m sure Bucky will be out of his meeting soon. And once he’s out, I”m sure he’ll call you.”
[Y/N] ignores her and places her phone to her ear, making another phone call.
“Carol, just let her be,” Val sighs, “anything we say isn’t clicking with her.
Carol took one final look at [Y/N] as she held the office door open, she shook her head before closing the door behind her, leaving [Y/N] to be.
________________
“So James, please explain to me why you have decided to come and talk with me today,” Dr. Pym says once they’re both seated across from each other. She has her open notepad in her lap, and a pen in hand.
“To be completely honest, it was my daughter that made me realize that I probably wasn’t as ‘fine’ as I claimed to be,” he explains, hands in his lap.
“You have a daughter?” She asks.
“Yes. She just turned four last month. Her name is Daisy,” Bucky smiles at the mention of his daughter.
“Is the mother in the picture?”
“Yes, we have shared custody,” he mentions, he starts to wring his wrists, getting nervous.
“Do you have a relationship with her?”
“Yes, I mean no, I mean yes,” Bucky stuttered.
“Is it yes? Or is it no?” She questions him.
“It’s a yes and no,” Bucky says, “We aren’t romantically together. But [Y/N], that’s her name. [Y/N] and I are co-parents. And best friends. Since we were fourteen years-old.”
“Since you were fourteen,” she repeats, “that’s a long time to be friends. But you both also have a young child together. If you don’t mind me asking, how that came to be?”
“Oh, it was a one time thing,” Bucky says, glancing at his hands, “that’s it. That one time resulted in [Y/N] getting pregnant.”
“Okay,” she makes a quick note, “so it was a one night stand kinda thing?”
“Yes, well no, well,” Bucky began to gamble, he paused then took a deep breath and exhaled.
“Yes it was but I don’t see it as that,” Bucky says, “At least I don’t think of [Y/N] as being just a one night stand. She’s way more important that some one night stand. She’s one of my best friends. We have a child together. She’s incredibly important to me.”
Dr.Pym nods her head, taking in all of what Bucky is telling her.
“I see,” she says, “sounds like your relationship with [Y/N] goes more in depth than just friendship and parenthood.”
“No,” Bucky shakes his head, “It doesn’t. She’s actually engaged.”
“Oh, well that’s got to be a huge change,” she points out, “Not just for you but for your child.”
“Massive,” Bucky agrees.
“How has her relationship and engagement affected your relationship with her?”
“I’m happy for her.”
“I didn’t ask if you were happy for her,” Dr. Pym pauses him, “I asked how it has affected you and [Y/N] as parents.”
Bucky ponders over the rushing thoughts in his head. He didn’t want to talk negatively about [Y/N] but he also didn’t want to lie.
“Things haven’t been as good as they used to be,” he vaguely says.
“Can you please elaborate?”
“I just want to clarify that [Y/N] is a good mom,” he stresses, “The best mom there is. She’s always put Daisy first since the moment she found out she was pregnant. For the last four years it’s always been about Daisy. Our main priority had always been Daisy. To make sure Daisy is given the best life that we could provide for her.
“I’m not going to say that the last 6 months haven’t been the best they’ve been, because they haven’t. We’re in this unknown territory of [Y/N] and I being in relationships.”
“Oh, are you in a relationship as well?”
“No, not anymore,” Bucky shakes his head, “I was for about six, seven months last year. But ultimately I had to end it.”
“Why was that?”
“I made the mistake of keeping the relationship a secret for most of the duration of it,” Bucky says, “Once [Y/N] and our friend group found out, things kind of went downhill fast. They didn’t approve of my relationship with Yelena. So it became kind of difficult to continue on with the relationship. As well as some other issues involving Yelena and I being a parent. So ultimately I made the decision to end it.”
“You made the decision? Or did your friends influence you into making that decision?”
Bucky gave that question some thought.
“Both I would say,” Bucky says, “I think they played a big part in my relationship failing. But at the end of the day it was my relationship to end, not theirs. Sure they made it difficult for me to even bring Yelena around, or even discuss her. But the fault lies on me not telling any of them about the relationship for a good six months. It wasn’t until I was caught that I came clean about it.”
“Why did you keep the relationship a secret?” She asked.
“My friends aren’t the easiest people to get to know when you’re an outsider to the group,” Bucky explains, “Some of us have known each other since high school, but we’ve all been a group since college. We’re all very close. They’re my second family.
“But I found whenever we bring an outsider into the mix, things get a bit tense. More so for [Y/N] and I, because everyone in our group is married. Whenever we tried to bring a boyfriend or girlfriend into the mix, the group becomes kinda territorial. They don’t really try to get to know the person we’re dating.”
“So I kept my relationship with Yelena a secret,” Bucky says, “Yelena is a few years younger than us, and I was just trying to protect her from what I knew would ultimately happen. My friends just deem someone unworthy without even getting to know the person.
“And if that person does something that they don't approve of, well then forget ever trying to get them to like that person. It’s not a three strike system with them, it’s a one strike and you’re out.”
“That doesn’t sound very healthy,” she notes, “How do they feel about [Y/N]’s engagement?”
“It’s mixed feelings,” he says.
“Including you?”
“Clark’s a great guy,” Bucky says, “Don’t get me wrong. He loves [Y/N]. And absolutely adores Daisy. I couldn’t wish for a better guy to be my daughter’s stepfather.”
“But?”
“But, do I wish they would’ve waited more than two months to get engaged?” Bucky rhetorically asks, “Yes. I would’ve loved that they would’ve waited more than two months. I would’ve loved it if they waited a year. Am I upset because [Y/N] didn’t even really try to get to know Yelena when I was with her, yet here I am doing everything I can to make sure Clark and I have a great relationship for her sake.
“Is it frustrating that for the last couple of weeks of my relationship I was the villain of the group, yet I’m making sure that no one does anything negative towards [Y/N].”
Dr. Pym just listens to Bucky as he continues to vent his frustration.
“Here I am doing everything in my power to protect [Y/N] and her relationship, yet she let the wolves attack mine,” he angrily vents, “Here I have been doing everything to make sure she has a good life because she’s the mother of my daughter. Here I am being what I’ve always been during our many years of friendship, supportive. I’ve been supportive of everything she’s done, even before we had a kid together and after.
“I didn’t judge her when she dated a prick of a guy two years ago, who completely just used her for sex. I was there helping her pick up the pieces, and making sure our daughter didn’t see her mother like that. There I was doing everything in my power to make sure that [Y/N] was happy. Because if she’s happy, then Daisy is happy, then that makes me happy.”
“It’s so goddamn frustrating that here I am again, picking up the pieces of the mess that she made,” he says, eyes pricking with tears, “a mess that she is too caught up in the rose colored glasses of her engagement to see. Normally I would just sit back and stay quiet because it wouldn’t involve me. But it does. It does because we have a child together, a child who is now feeling the effects of her mother’s impulsiveness.”
“A child who spent the weekend crying to me that she’s scared that her mother is going to abandon her, because said mother hasn’t bothered to ask her how she’s doing,” he angrily swipes the tears away, “A child who is afraid that this new man is going to replace me, that she will no longer have me in her life. A child who I had to tell this morning that her mother decided to announce her engagement without telling her she was telling the world. A child who now thinks her mother lies to her about keeping promises. A child who is currently sick at home with her godmother, because her mother couldn’t even bother picking up the fucking phone when I spent all morning trying to reach her.”
“Would I love to be there with Daisy right now?” Bucky says grabbing the tissue Dr. Pym is holding out for him, “Of course I would. But that same child pointed out to me this weekend that she could tell that I wasn’t truly happy. A child who is kind, loving, smart, can tell I’m not as fine as I claim to be. And that completely broke me. So yes, I would love to be caring for my sick daughter, but I know she’s in good hands, and I know I’m doing the right thing by showing up here today.”
“It’s hard carrying the burden of someone else’s mistakes,” Dr. Pym softly speaks up, “It’s even more difficult when a child is involved. You want to do everything in your power to keep the peace, and I can see that. But hiding your true feelings about it all, isn’t healthy either.
“It’s not healthy for you. Not healthy for the other parties involved. Most specifically not healthy for Daisy.”
Bucky nods his head, taking in what the doctor is telling him.
“I get that you don’t want to cause [Y/N] any issues,” she says, “and I commend you for that, because a lot of coparentships aren’t so thoughtful of one another. You wouldn’t imagine the amount of toxic coparentships I’ve encountered. They’re way too caught up in their own stuff to stop and realize how it affects their child. Then the child suffers in the end. I get that that’s what you’re trying to prevent here.”
“But I’m not telling you to start an argument,” she shakes her head, placing a hand on Bucky’s knee in a comforting way, “I’m telling you to have the conversation with [Y/N]. There’s this template that I like to tell my patients to use when expressing their feelings with someone.
“You say, ‘This isn’t something easy for me to express, but this is something that I need to say. First and foremost what I’m about to say isn’t a personal attack towards you, I do care for you, and because I care for you I need to express the feelings I’ve been having lately. Again this isn’t a personal attack, on you, because you would have no knowledge of me feeling this way, because you weren’t in the know. So please give me the time to express what I’ve been feeling, and have this conversation with you about it.’
“Start off by saying that or something along those lines. Or by saying ‘I feel this way because,’. Explain as much as you can.”
“Okay,” Bucky nods his head.
“And I’m not saying to go home and immediately do it,” she says, “It also doesn’t have to be a conversation you have all in one day. It’s okay to break it down into separate conversations. Explain that to her. Take a couple of days to get your thoughts in order, it’s okay to prepare what you want to say. Don’t go into it, not knowing what you’re going to say. At least the important key points.
“People who rush it tend to miss the important stuff. I get wanting to quickly begin this new mental health journey, but nothing gets fixed with one session. Some people walk out of here after one session and feel great. They feel like everything will magically be better. The only reason they feel like that is because they just spent the last hour releasing all these feelings they’ve had built up for awhile.”
“I like to be honest with my patients,” she says, “I like to be realistic with them about the length of this journey. Everyone is different. Everyone has different issues. You can’t base your journey on someone else’s. Where someone starts to see improvement in a couple of months, might take someone longer.”
“Therapy is something you have to want to do,” she explains, “Something you’re dedicated to doing. It shouldn’t be seen as a chore, it should just be a part of your normal. I’m committed to being here, if you are.”
“I am,” Bucky nods his head, “I really am.”
“Good,” she smiles, she looks up at the clock on the shelf next to Bucky, and she begins to rise, “Well James, unfortunately our time together for this session is over. But I want to thank you for being open and honest with me. It isn’t easy.”
“Thank-you,” he smiles, and gets up to shake her hand.
“I would love to see you again next week,” she says as she shakes his hand, “if you have time in your schedule I think you might benefit from a weekly session.”
“Yes, I would love that,” he says walking towards her door.
“Perfect, I’ll let Joann, my receptionist know to book you for weekly sessions,” she opens the door for him to walk out first, “You can discuss with her which days work best for you.”
“Also, if you’re ever in a mental emergency,” she says handing him her card, “this is my emergency number. It goes directly to my emergency phone. It is only for emergencies where you feel as if your life is in danger. Please use it for what it’s intended for.”
“I will,” he grabs the card and puts it into his wallet, “Thank-you again Dr. Pym.”
“Have a good day James,” she smiles, “I wish Daisy a speedy recovery.”
“Thank-you,” he thanks her one last time before she heads back into her office, leaving him to book his next appointments.
Walking out of that building Bucky never felt more relaxed. He understood what Dr. Pym meant when patients feel great after walking out of a session. He could see why some people wouldn’t return after one session, but he’s determined not to let that feeling trick him into thinking everything is magically fixed. It’s not, but he’s determined to work on it. Work on himself into being the best version of himself he could be. He’s determined to do it, now not just for Daisy but for himself.
He pulls his phone out of his pocket. He looks down to see [Y/N] has finally returned his calls and messages. Of course she would choose while he was in therapy. He shakes his head. He immediately calls her. The petty part of him telling him to let her worry more the way she had him worrying this morning. But he isn’t like that.
“What the fuck Bucky,” she answers.
“Hello to you too,” he says, hailing a cab and stepping into it, he quickly gives the driver his address.
“I’ve been trying to fucking call you for the last hour,” she says.
“Like I told your fiancé I had an important meeting,” he says, “You would’ve known that if you would’ve answered any of my calls or messages earlier this morning when I spent two hours trying to contact you.”
“I was busy.”
“Yeah, and so was I,” he said, “so guess we’re even.”
“I’m not calling to argue, where’s Daisy?”
“She’s at home,” he says rolling his eyes at her tone, “I found a sitter to watch her. I’m on my way home now. I took the rest of the day off to be with her.”
“Who’s the sitter?” She asked, “I called all the usual people we would use, and none of them have Daisy.”
“Natasha is watching her,” he tells her the truth.
“Are you kidding me?”
“No,” he says, “No one else was available and I really couldn’t miss this meeting. She was the only one who was able to get there within five minutes.”
“After everything Natasha has said about me, you would allow her to take care of my daughter,” she harshly says.
“Our daughter,” he corrects her, “Daisy is OUR daughter. You don’t see me throwing the ‘my daughter’ shit around after you announced your engagement to the world without telling her.”
“It was a last minute decision,” she says.
“And you don’t think you should’ve sent me a text last night saying you were announcing it,” he says, “You don’t think you should’ve called to talk to Daisy about it. This affects her too, [Y/N]. This affects her just as much as it affects you. You need to include her.”
“I do include her,” she retaliates.
Bucky takes a deep breath to calm himself. No longer feeling the calm, rejuvenated self he felt walking out of his therapy appointment. This was not the time or place to be fighting with [Y/N]. He was in the back of a cab, and all he wanted to do was get back home and take care of Daisy.
“[Y/N] like you said, I don’t want to argue with you,” he calmly says, “I’m almost home. If you want to come over after work, you’re more than welcome to. Regardless you’ll have to come pick her up.”
“You’re not going to bring her to my place?”
“No, [Y/N]. She’s sick,” he says, “If anything when she’s sick we normally just leave her where she’s at to not expose her to the outside. So she’ll probably stay another night with me.”
“But it’s my week,” [Y/N] says.
Bucky doesn’t understand why [Y/N] was being so difficult with him. This was a common procedure for them. If Daisy was sick she would just stay at whoever’s home she was currently at, to let her rest and get better without lugging her around the city.
“[Y/N],” he sighs, “fine, you can take her home. Just thought because she’s sick she would stay at least another night to make sure she’s feeling better. But if you want to take her home, then you can. I’m not going to fight you on this.”
“Okay,” she says, “I’ll see you after I get out of work. Please keep me updated on Daisy.”
“Okay, I’ll see you later,” he hangs up his phone.
When he enters his place, he spots Nat and Daisy on the couch, Daisy was asleep on his
“How is she doing?” He whispers, toeing off his shoes and placing his bag on the bench next to his front door.
“Good,” she whispers, “She hasn’t thrown up. She still has a fever though.”
Natasha carefully takes Daisy’s head off of her lap, and stands up.
“Thank you again,” he tells her, leaning up against the couch, as Natasha goes to grab her shoes and bag.
“Anytime,” she smiles at him.
“Was your meeting good?” She eyes him.
“Yeah, it went really well.”
“Good,” she smiles.
“Guess I’ll see you around,” she lingers by the door.
“Want to maybe grab some dinner this weekend?” He says.
“Yes, please,” she smiles.
“See you Saturday,” he smiles, holding the door open for her.
“See you Saturday,” she leaves with a smile on her face.
Bucky knows that [Y/N] won’t be happy that he’s spending time with Natasha again. But at this point he doesn’t care anymore. He’s done everything he can to protect [Y/N] just to get the treatment he received today. If [Y/N] doesn’t want to hang out with Natasha, then that’s fine. But she’s his friend as well, and he knows what it’s like to feel isolated in this friend group, and he doesn’t want anyone else feeling that way.
He’s done doing things just to please [Y/N]. If [Y/N] can live her life without worrying about him then he can do the same. His only concern being the little girl asleep on his lap.

**TAG LIST ANNOUNCEMENT/INFORMATION**
THIS IS A MUST READ IF YOU WANT TO BE ADDED TO ANY OF MY TAG LIST!!!!!!
I have decided to do tag lists a different way now. Something that makes it easier for me to handle. It’s an easier and simpler way for myself to keep track of who asks to be tagged, and now my newly implemented waitlist. I have created a form, that needs to be filled out if you want to be tagged. That is the only way I will be accepting any kinds of requests to be added to a tag list.
The link provided at the end will also give you more info on how my tag lists will work. So please read it as well.
Will only be accepting the first 30 for Speak Now: TKWBA sequel, then rest will be added to the waitlist if you chose that option.
My permanent tag list is still unlimited as of now.
Also if your tag doesn’t work after three times, you’ll be taken off. I will try and help you but only some accept my help/reply back.
You must also engage in the story you asked to be a part of the series tag list for. I am much more lenient on my permanent tag list. But if you’re on a specific story tag list, you must engage. If not you will be taken off and I will be giving your space to someone on the wait list.
Once you’re taken off a tag list for the mentioned above you’ll have to resubmit a form and be wait listed.
Sorry if any of you think this is unfair, but I think these are pretty fair rules. And it makes it easier to keep track of all the requests. Thank you for understanding.

Have to agree with the whole thing about Speak Now shedding light how extremely disappointing and a bit borderline seemingly inconsiderate (dont get me wrong I know she deserves to be happy and that being a parent should not hinder her from being happy through means of sexual-sensual love) the reader is. As a person who has spent half of my life struggling and refusing to get help until I was finally able to admit that I needed and wanted to seek professional help, I can really relate with Bucky on this series and I feel so proud of him but along with this came the realization that made me realize that apart from Steve, they were all pretty shit friends to Bucky (heck they barely seemed like his friends) so I agree with the other nonnie that Steve and Daisy were the only ones who were genuinely there for Bucky. I am well aware that the reader is still considerate about him and obviously still cared about him but mind you she kind of turned their friends against Bucky (unintentionally ofc) after finding about Yelena and again, I still respect the reader and understand her completely but the sequel's first two chapters made me look back to TKWBA and made me realize that apart from Steve, no one really bothered to try understanding Bucky's side which really made me upset because I feel him, the lack of self confidence and me feeling like an outcast inside my groups of friends was the biggest struggle and hardest one to I had solve during my journey to a better mental health motivated actions.
Don’t worry the next chapter will show you that his friends do care about him. You’ll also get to know a bit more about how everyone truly feels about the engagement. I think with TKWBA Natasha had more of a say about the whole Yelena thing and how everyone reacted negatively towards Bucky.
But don’t worry everyone will have a chance to redeem themselves as Bucky’s friend.
With Steve, he has known Bucky the longest. They’re way more than just close friends. Steve will always be on Bucky’s side no matter what.

Spoilers just in case*
I am SO excited for the sequel to tkwba but I will slap Buckaroo silly if he doesn’t SPEAK THE FUCK UP .
Even though Clark is blameless and I wanna protect him.
And I wanna give Nat the mum lecture from hell for her attitude.
Basically you’ve made my emotions a rollercoaster and I am TROUBLED.
I will say I’ve been wanting to write a story based on Taylor Swift’s song Speak Now. I’ve had it in my notes for the last two years but could never go about it in a way that didn’t seem rushed or already kinda done before. So once I started writing TKWBA and once I brought Clark into the picture, I decided to head down that route. Also I just felt like it would seem so rushed and random(?) if I had bucky confess right off the bat when the reader’s feelings for Bucky aren’t even truly known. I feel like TKWBA is more of us getting to know Bucky’s feelings towards the reader. While Speak Now will be more of us getting to know how the reader has felt about Bucky during their friendship. And because it will be a hybrid series, I have more of an opportunity to delve into it instead of only getting a few slides in and rushing.
If this one took you on a rollercoaster the next one is about to take you on many!!!

Re: I have problems with all sides & it is more serious, but I'm really side eyeing everyone beside Reader right now! Yes she did wrong, but it feels like the whole group is going to gang up on her! They have every right to be annoyed or upset, but at least Bucky had Steve and the group (sans Reader & Nat) to some extent!
I'm sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with this especially considering the fact that I feel like this completely disregards Bucky's feelings/mental health. The reader was thoughtful and considerate with Bucky for the most part during the first part but I definitely disagree with the last statement. Bucky barely has anyone, if anything it was him who got ganged up on during the TKWBA. Now, looking back and thinking about it, I realized that the only thing Bucky did that was truly wrong during TKWBA was hiding his relationship with Yelena (which seemed A BIT reasonable after Dr. Pym established how  the dynamic between his friend group was toxic) but he was still respectful, considerate and understanding and yet they were pretty shit friends to him. I would say that it was wrong for him to ask for permission from the reader if Daisy could meet Yelena when their relationship was premature, but she literally did the same thing with Clark, the only difference was everyone was supportive with her. Granted, Yelena was a bitch. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I just think it's unfair to claim that 'at least Bucky had Steve and the group to some extent' when he was provided with bare minimum care/consideration/friendship. Yelena was the bitch not Bucky so reading the sequel made me realize that the way they antagonized him made during the first part made no sense at all and was uncalled for. Everytime the reader comes running to them after Bucky had upset her, they won't hesitate to back her up and make Bucky feel like shit and yet most of them apparently agrees with Nat's point (apart from the bad mother part ofc) yet no one apart from Nat is saying/said anything, not that I agree with the way Nat delivered her sentiment but it makes sense nonetheless and I am someone who constantly feels like I'm the least important and most disposable person in my group of friends which is why most of the time when I disagree or uncomfortable with something that one of my friends did/said, I just try to refrain from saying anything in fear of being invalidated and excluded because I tend to feel like their loyalty would stay with our other friend. Also as someone who finally found the courage to go to therapy, I completely understand the value of having the initiative to seek help for your own good but at the same time, we'd be lying if we deny the fact that a big part of the reason why he's therapy in the first place because he hardly has anyone ( bc obviously this would be way too much of a burden and just simply isn't right to unload all of this to Daisy).
I'm not saying she deserves it nor do I think they would actually do it but if they do gang up on her, I would honestly see and understand where they are coming from because this is definitely just more than them trying to protect Bucky's feelings (not that they actually bothered showing that they did genuinely cared about him or acted like actual friends to him --except for Steve ofc) but it's for Daisy's sake. I'm not saying she's a terrible mom or anything like that but she's way too busy basking on her own happy bubble to the extent that she's starting to be negligent, and that is very evident with the last update. Not only was she too busy living her own fairytale with Clark and practically forgot about Daisy, she is also so clueless about it and even went as far as blaming it all on Bucky and did not bother to think for a second that she's the one to be held accountable when literally her reason was that she was having shower sex with Clark. I'm not suggesting that they gang up on her or sabotage her relationship with Clark but she definitely needs to be 'set straight' because I really feel sorry for Daisy. Just my two cents, much love! 💙
i liked what you said about the friend group being toxic. not that they're actually toxic. i think when you're in such a close knit friend group, where you're all practically each other's second family, you're going to think you know what's best for each other. you're also going to be extremely comfortable with each other. and sometimes boundaries get crossed because you think you're helping the situation/person when in reality you're probably not. and it doesn't help if the person being affected doesn't speak up and express how they feel.
yeah the reader was acting on emotion and not thinking logically about what was going on. which is why carol and valkyrie walked away from the situation. they saw that there just wasn't any getting through with her.
thank you for your input!! greatly appreciate it.
also proud of you for taking your own step to a better mental health <3

Bucky closed Daisy’s door quietly. Daisy was very tired from the long day. After breakfast Bucky took Daisy to her ballet class, then afterwards they took a trip to the Bronx Zoo. By the time they got home Daisy could hardly keep her eyes open. Once he got her all cleaned up and dressed for bed, she was asleep the second her head hit the pillow.
Bucky grabbed a beef from the fridge and his laptop on the dining table and made his way to the living room. He turned on the tv to whatever was on, and he turned the volume low. He took a swig of his beer and opened his laptop to check his emails.
He saw a few were from work, updating him on some info on his current case. Another was from the psychologist he emailed early this morning, Dr. Hope Pym.
Hello Mr. Barnes,
I normally don’t do the scheduling, via email I tell patients to call Monday morning. In this case I’ll make an exception, seeing how you emailed me at four in the morning. I also happen to have an opening spot for MOnday afternoon at 1pm.
