He was noted for his mellifluous baritone voice. Burton established himself as a formidable Shakespearean actor in the 1950s and gave a memorable performance as Hamlet in 1964. He was called the natural successor to Sir Lawrence Olivier.

He died on 5th August 1984 (aged 58) in Céligny, Switzerland 🇨🇭 His burial place - Old Cemetery ("Vieux Cimetière") of Céligny.

As a pianist myself I love this and would love to see it represented, so I am more than happy for u guys that are writers (or just curious) to ask me about this like the industry, or live sound (I’ve seen on tiktok lately people thinking every performer has a metronome in their monitors, this isn’t always correct, there’s a lot more to it) or even all the jobs you take on within the industry like session musicians, library musicians etc.. so I’ll quite happily answer questions or help people out if they plan on writing fics with musicians as main characters or au’s so please please please don’t hesitate to ask! I go all nerdy for this stuff I think it’s pretty cool

For anyone interested, I’m on a Pop Music course and I’m study the music industry in business classes, with theory (boring as hell) classes too and I have recording sessions, music history & context lessons and on Fridays we have perfomance workshop, where we pick a song to learn in the morning and practice with a band or solo or whatever is needed, then by the end of the day we have an hour of tech set up and then we perform it to the rest of the people on the course. It’s a lot of fun but hard work, we have tech students doing live sound and someone from tech doing the lighting and stuff. Feel free to ask me any questions about it!

as a welsh person i want you all to accept that W is a vowel because honestly it makes pronouncing acronyms so much easier. wlw becomes ‘ooloo’, wjec becomes ‘oojeck’, love yourselves and stop giving us shit when we tell you welsh has 7 vowels. english actually has 15 vowel sounds but because y’all only use 5 letters you have to rely on a spelling system devised by satan

For anyone who doesn't know, I've been learning Welsh since 2021 as it's my native language and I would actually like to speak it 😅

I'm a very patriotic Welsh woman (as any of my loved ones will tell you) and fiercely proud of my heritage so it just feels right to actually learn my native language and I've been doing a course funded by my workplace for the past three years

I was doing duolingo alongside it and almost had a year streak, then I lost it and never went back on it out of shame 😂😂😂

BUT 2024 I WILL GET MY STREAK BACK DAMMIT

I re-wrote the start of this at least 5 times already because I'm scared of coming across like a self-obsessed asshole. Which is probably ridiculous. So I'll just write the five things lmao.

💜 I'm generally a cheery person to be around, I think. I try to stay upbeat and smiling even when I'm cracking under pressure lol. Not sure I always achieve it, but that's my goal!

💜 I've lived a life now. That might sound weird; but like. I feel like I've hit 30 and I can look back at my twenties and say, wow. You really made some stupid decisions and fucked a few things up. You had a lot of fun, too. And now you've learned from it. I used to dread turning 30 cause I worried that made me OLD and irrelevant 😅🙈 but now I feel lucky, and actually from a writing point of you, I often feel like I have this little bank of moments and emotions to draw from, so even when I look back on something as a mistake or a painful moment, I never regret it or resent because instead my brain goes: OMFG THAT WRITING FUEL THOUGH.

💜 I try to be a good Mum. We go paint in the garden and fling glitter all over the house and cover ourselves in flour baking in the kitchen and go SCREW THE MESS. I missed out on a whole bunch with my Mum as a kid and my family unit wasn't straightforward, so all I ever wanted was to be around more and create a sense of home for my own kids, which I think I've managed 🤞🏻

💜 I'm good with my own company. I can amuse myself for an indefinite amount of time with my own imagination, and I love shit like gardening and of course writing. I love being social, too, but I'm never afraid of a quiet house or being left to my own devices.

💜 I'm Welsh. I don't think I take enough opportunities actually to allow myself to be proud of my heritage. My country is beautiful - I don't have to go far to find breathtaking scenery. There's still a rich culture here full of tradition and the most wonderful stories and a beautiful language that has resisted being stomped out over the centuries many times. I feel lucky to have that as part of my identity. (Plus come on - our flag is cool as shit. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿)
