There's something vaguely hilarious that all of the PT trio suffer from "I'm going to treat these characters as how I wanted them to be rather than how they are actually characterised" and so you get Head Bitch In Charge Padmé, stereotypically masculine Anakin, and St Kenobi the long suffering.
But with Padmé it always makes me really sad, because that's not her it's not Leia either. Like she's obviously "in charge" as the Queen in TPM, but even when in her Amidala persona she's not rude, or bitchy, or combative, she's mostly just reserved and calm. But we also see in TPM, that away from the Amidala persona, Padmé herself is not a bitchy or harsh person. Her defining characteristics is her kindness and her willingness to reach out.
Her most bitchy moment is probably in AotC when she reminds the Queen that Anakin is a "just" a padawan rather than a knight and we know why she was putting that distance in between them.
Anyway this is post #2046 of my regularly scheduled Padmé is done dirty posts and I should probably get round to actually writing the Padmé meta and stop doing whatever I'm doing with these posts.
#padme amidala#padme posting#star wars#texty post#TBF obi-wan's characterisation can probably be more acurately be called flanderization#with the negative portrayals solely focused on the negative traits and the positive portrayals solely focused on the positive traits#I would appreciate if SW did have a properly bitch character but I dread how fandom would treat her tbh#if only I could work in short bursts instead of needing to do the research and writing in one huge burst 🫠
