#Sylvaina renaisance lets gooo I'm ready for it now

Like I don't wanna tell people how to write (or read) a certain pairing, that's not what this is about. I just want to ramble about why this dynamic works for me personally, when the more "classic" domme-top Sylv x sub-bottom Jaina doesn't.

Given that Sylvanas is framed as a survivor of sexual assault, and the rest of her bodily autonomy issues, it makes sense to me that she would find empowerment/comfort in being the dominant/aggressive party. Not to mention it fits with her whole evil queen aesthetic.

I also am a big fan of a toppy sylvanas, just look at BTAWTS, what i specifically don't enjoy is the intersection of domme, top and the dubcon elements sylvaina at times get into - Because to me this echo the infuriating "Sylvanas is just like Arthas" plotline from canon.

Yes the reason i dislike this reading of the character is because it agrees too much with canon, welcome to the warcraft fandom.

Similar, Jaina's character arch, such as it is, has been about her becoming more assertive and confident in her own power - going from "I can't watch you do this Arthas" to "beware, beware of me".

And while I enjoy the idea of Jaina rediscovering her softness and being able to let go through being dommed; I find some fics overdo it and end up having her character essentially regress 20 years - Yes I know some fics take place pre-3rd war or in no 3rd war AUs, this is not about those.

All this to say, that years after losing interest in the fandom, I'm finally able to verbalize why one of the most visible sylvaina dynamics did nothing for me.

Not to toot my own horn but I'm writing butch service top Jaina x femme power bottom Sylvanas, and i'm basically a genius, and we should have been doing this for years.
