Ch 18: Beach Date
~ Master List ~ Previous Chapter ~ WC: 1.6k
Fanart by @amalthiaph!!
The increasingly warm weather on the island of Xylo was a welcome reprieve from a particularly blustery winter, allowing the locals to venture forth from their cozy dwellings to enjoy the outdoors more. The Town Square was more active with events, the beach became increasingly dotted with people looking to enjoy the waves and sun, and the Tiki Bar was back to its usual bustle, including dejarik tournaments and the weekly karaoke night. Hunter was back to tying his hair up in a bun, utilizing a bandana out of either nostalgia or habit, and it was somewhat of a relief for him to don one of his looser tunic shirts and some blue shorts after being under the heavy butcher apron for a few hours.
He’d led Lyra down the steps to a long stretch of beach, carrying a bigger backpack than usual and making some sporadic conversation as they walked. She had unintentionally matched his outfit, partly at least, with a loose beige long-sleeved shirt and an olive green skirt that brushed her ankles. Her brown hair was left down, holding that slight bit of wave as always, and she’d switched to sandals from her usual boots. She watched quietly as he pulled a thin blanket out from the backpack and laid it across the sand, gesturing for her to sit. When he continued to produce more snacks, drinks, and treats than she thought his bag could hold, she couldn’t resist a sheepish admission.
“I should have asked you what I could bring…”
“Nope,” he said, finishing his spread. “You did all the dinner stuff. Now it’s my turn.”
“Oh, is that how this works?” she smiled. “Well then I’ll have to start planning something good.”
Hunter was silent, trying to simply be present and enjoy the moment but unable to rid himself of the nagging questions in the back of his mind from their earlier conversation with Wrecker. They settled into snacking and light chatter, observing the people walking by and occasionally laughing at a raucous outburst from the tiki bar down the beach. The sun was sinking low in the sky, painting everything with beautiful peach tones, and the sea birds floated on the breeze, hovering above the people below with sharp eyes for any food left unattended.
Their conversation was halting, with something unidentifiable beneath the surface, and Lyra’s body language was growing increasingly awkward. Once the snacks were thoroughly decimated and the drinks turned into empty bottles, Hunter shoved everything back in the bag except the blanket they were sitting on, and he leaned back on his hands, shaking bangs out of his face as he stared into the distance. Lyra was sitting cross-legged, idly sifting the tiny grains of sand between her fingers just off the edge of the blanket, and they fell silent for a while, each full of thoughts that they didn’t know how to share.
“I haven’t seen a sunset like this in a while,” Lyra offered after a few minutes.
“Yeah,” he agreed, lifting his head a bit to enjoy the slow fade of colors across the sky. “They’re different throughout the seasons here, it seems.”
“Part of the charm.”
“Mhm.”
More silence.
“Where did you get the chocolate-covered fruit? I haven’t been able to find that for ages…” she tried again.
“Omega brought it back from the agricultural island. I’m not usually much of a sweets person, I guess.”
“Whaaaaat!”
“I know... No idea why not.”
“Well we all have our flaws.”
“Heh.”
More silence.
Lyra shifted, leaning to her side to prop herself up on a hand, and accidentally laid her fingers over the back of Hunter’s where they rested on the blanket behind her. She sat up again quickly, pulling her hand back and mumbling an apology, which seemed to make him further retreat into himself. The sound of a particularly boisterous karaoke singer reached their ears, drawing a little snicker from each and goading her into action.
“Okay… What’s wrong?” Lyra finally said, turning to face him head-on.
“What?” he said, his attempt at cluelessness falling wildly flat.
“This all feels totally different. Awkward. Distant. I don’t know… I’m sorry to bring it up, but… Did I do something?”
“Um…” he paused, surprised at her willingness to point it out so directly. “No, I mean… Well, yeah. Okay.” He took a deep breath, noticing her anticipation growing along with the concern on her face, but when he met her gaze, there was an immediate softening that triggered a flutter in his chest. “Earlier… in town… with Wrecker. You seemed really quick to say we were just friends. I feel that way too. But… agh.” He faltered, rubbing his face in his hands before dropping them to regard her again. “I don’t know how to do this.”
“Oh,” she said softly, seeming on the verge of something. “I’m sorry…” Her tendency to apologize was sometimes irksome, and he felt a mild chagrin that he quickly assumed had nothing to do with his own fumbling for words.
“No, it’s not… It’s fine, it’s just… I don’t know. I don’t know what… this…” he gestured between them, “...is. I didn’t think this would ever be part of my life, to be honest.”
“This?” Lyra asked, swallowing hard with undeniable anxiety..
“Yeah,” Hunter said with a self-conscious chuckle at his own complete and total befuddlement. “I don’t know how nat– naturally this thing goes… I just… I like being with you.” The increasing sheepishness of his confession was both adorable and enlightening, and her eyes widened for a second before a look of happy disbelief flickered across her face.
“I… Wow. Um… Hunter…” Again, the unfathomable softness in the way she said his name was a soothing caress to his ears. “I freaking love being around you. Every time we see each other again, I feel lucky beyond belief. I just didn’t assume you had any interest beyond casually spending time together, because… well why would someone like you… Ah, nevermind. I just didn’t think anyone would see me that way, so I was just trying to enjoy any time we did spend together.”
He processed her words, a slow smile creeping across his face. “Why wouldn’t anyone see you that way?”
“Why would they?” she chuckled, tilting her head down and allowing some hair to fall across her face. “I’m old, I’m boring, I’m a coward… What do I have to offer?” Hunter opened his mouth to respond but she continued. “I guess I just feel like those days are behind me.”
“Maker above, Lyra,” he laughed, his chest swelling with affection. “You talk as if you’ve got one foot in the grave. What does that make me, then? Elderly and senile?”
She shook her head, and he heard a little snicker from beneath her curtain of bangs. “You’re amazing,” she whispered, letting out a breath that made her shoulders slump a bit as she fell silent.
“Hey,” Hunter said, his voice smooth yet the tiniest bit shaky. He shifted a little closer, leaning down to try to see behind her hair. A silent, steadying inhale gave him a momentary relief from the quivers in his stomach, and he lifted a hand to her face, deftly brushing her brown locks away from her eyes and tucking them behind her ear with feather-light apprehension. His lips twitched as her pulse increased and her face radiated warmth.
She slowly lifted her head, meeting his gaze with a sweet vulnerability that made his heart swell in his chest. He almost forgot his words as he closed his mouth, which was suddenly going dry, and tenderly caressed her cheek with the backs of his fingers. She tilted her head into his touch, closing her eyes for a long moment before opening them with a blissful smile.
“I don’t know what we’re doing,” Hunter whispered, cupping her face as though he were unable to pull away. “But I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. And I want to keep enjoying it. As long as you’ll have me, and whatever it looks like.”
“I don’t know how I got so lucky,” she murmured, moving forward to sit between his legs. “But that sounds lovely.” She sighed, moving as though to hug him but stopping, unsure, at the last moment. He similarly tried to scoot around her but faltered with a chuckle. “Man, we’re really good at this,” she remarked, earning a huff from him as he came to a rest behind her.
“We’ll figure it out,” Hunter said calmly, offering himself as a backrest as she gently leaned into him, tucking perfectly into the curve of his chest. “Our own way,” he added, haltingly reaching an arm around the front of her shoulders to wrap snugly against her and provide the most comforting hug they’d yet shared. The breeze picked up a little, but it had no effect on the warmth between the two of them as they nestled further into one another.
The sky faded to blue, the first brave stars peeking through the velvet curtain above, and the party at the tiki bar was going strong. There were still some people enjoying the beach here and there, but the whole world felt different somehow. Hunter took a deep breath, savoring the salt in the wind and the scents of evening cooking, and gave Lyra’s shoulder a little squeeze with a hand, feeling a heavy, pleasant contentment that in this moment, everything was perfect.
* * *
At the tiki bar, the back curtain flapped quietly as the small figure snuck out for a quick break. Luciana tilted her head, scanning the beach and zeroing on Hunter’s form wrapped tenderly around Lyra’s. A small smile curved at the corner of her lips, and with a slow stretch of the arms and back, she returned to the counter for the next set of orders.

Note
Please ignore the tiki bar motoring off into the sunset. We're 45° north of the equator, it's only really a viable business like a third of the year
Okay but I wanna be at that tiki bar and watch the sunset so bad 😩😩 that would fix me. Plus the water ripples are incredibly soothing too, I really like this 🥺

* 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐳𝐫𝐚 𝐳𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐮...
[ Ayça Ayşin Turan | she/her ] A new face takes refuge under Dark Skies. AZRA ZORLU, a 29 year old BANSHEE, is one of those from the PRESENT learning to navigate this changed world. People say behind their back that they’re UNSTABLE but the truth is that they’re really KIND HEARTED. Their style can best be described as BLUE OCEANS, PENDING TRAGEDIES, OLD OAK TREE, FRESH LINEN, and we’ll see how that helps them fit in.
𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐭:
*𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 *𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 *𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 *𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬
𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
nicknames: az, lu birthday: may 4th, 2000 born: turkey, ankara parents: davut & defne zorlu siblings: two older brothers moved to: new orleans, aged 14 occupation: forensic blood splatter analyst for nola pd eye colour: blue hair colour: brunette weight: 53kg height: 5 ft 4 inches tattoos: right ankle (here) + left wrist (here) piercings: many on her ears (here) + belly button scars: 7 to 8" diagonal tear across the back of her right shoulder
𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
born into a seemingly happy family, azra was the third and final child, the only girl and the apple of her father's eye.
from a young age it was clear to the zorlu's that azra was no ordinary girl. nightmares, sleepwalking, hearing and seeing things that nobody else could. luckily for her, the family was no stranger to what they considered an affliction. azra's grandmother was a banshee, and whilst the gene had skipped her mother, it was clear from a young age that it hadn't skipped her.
her "symptoms" were manageable until she hit her teenage years and required more help than phone calls from her grandmother could provide. with a lot of careful thought and consideration, the family uprooted from turkey and moved to new orleans { where grandmother lives }. her parents have since returned to their homeland three years ago, her two brothers chose to remain in the city with her.
worked in various bars while she completed her studies to qualify as a forensic scientist specialising in blood splatter. her placement was with nola pd who then hired her after she qualified. she's been working there full-time for 5 years. it's not the job people typically expect her to be in but she loves the morbidity of it. it feels fitting given her banshee status that her job is also surrounded by death.
azra has a good handle on her abilities as a banshee thanks to her grandmother's teachings but she isn't always in control. occasionally, she'll find herself standing in the middle of something awful with no idea how she got there. she still gets nightmares and visions she doesn't understand. she does her best not to let it show, keeping her supernatural label a secret to the best of her ability.
𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 & 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐬
on the outside, she can be described as sunsets, a cool breeze on a summer day or perhaps even a lone star in the night sky
she's kind and caring with a depth to her that stems from years of being haunted by death
looks like like a cinnamon roll, will bite you with her blunt human teeth to display dominance { that's a joke }
but for real, she won't allow anyone to walk all over her, despite looking like a petite sweetheart, she knows how to kick back
tends to enjoy the company of animals more than people but is still quite sociable despite this
has a fennec fox named tiki that she rescued as a baby 2 years ago. she's perfectly legal and due to being hand-reared, could not be released back into the wild
she does a lot for wildlife rescues, taking in and helping injured and abandoned creatures wherever she can
despite the fact her job can get nitty + gritty, she always makes sure she has a perfect manicure, a different colour every 2 weeks
will run in terror at the sight of clowns
likes to binge watch horror movies or scary series as if her real life doesn't have enough of that
obsessed with mint choc chip ice cream and british chocolate
{ will probably add to this as time goes on }

“The Beach is getting there,” said Pat Coggins, “Houses are taking months to rebuild and many are waiting for permitting. Businesses reopened pretty quickly considering the damage done by Hurricane Helene.” Pat and his wife, Sheryl, are retired military and residents of Hernando Beach, Florida. It’s a tight-knit community developed in the 1970s by dredging channels to create a waterfront community with gulf access from each home’s yard. Pat and Sheryl came here and fell in love with the area, especially its residents. “We came to Hernando Beach in 2021 and immediately booked a cruise on the Marina Rose. We figured this was the best way to check out the local waterways, support a local business, and have fun,” Pat says. In September, they purchased the Marina Rose Cruise Boat from Randy and Rosa Rossi, its original proprietors. The Marina Rose Cruise Experience offers 2-hour evening dinner cruises from Hernando Beach Marina Thursday through Sunday evenings, lunch cruises, and private charters on their adorable 18-passenger paddle cruiser. Fully enclosed and comfort-controlled, Marina Rose offers catered food, a full bar, and live entertainment. Its intimacy, comfort, and spectacular views contribute to its #1 rating on Trip Advisor. Pat and Sheryl began taking guests out on the water from Hernando Beach to enjoy sunsets, dolphins, hospitality, and charm as soon as they could after Hurricane Helene hit. “All Hernando Beach is waiting for you,” Pat shares with me. “Right now, everything in the tourist-based community needs locals to get out and enjoy. We need people to come out and have fun with us. Your support provides for our recovery. It’s a win-win.” Pat and Sheryl Coggins welcome you to Hernando Beach on the Marina Rose. Image courtesy of Sheryl Coggins. Most of the businesses in the Weeki Wachee, Hernando Beach, and Aripeka communities rely heavily on visitors for their livelihoods. Rebuilding structures they live in while rebuilding buildings that house the businesses they work in is a double tax. Still, there is resilience and camaraderie that permeates the proprietors I spoke with. Brian’s Place, a popular Italian-Spanish Fusion restaurant that has been a staple of the community for 20-plus years had their restaurant building and its provisions wiped out by the storm. The community put on a fundraiser to help the staff with lost wages and get things moving forward again while construction workers are putting the pieces back together. The guys are on the patio tonight, Brian’s place is open for dinner. Stop in and say hello, grab a drink, and hang out for the evening. A special condensed menu is being served. Courtesy of Brian's Place Facebook page Nov. 1, 2024. Another business, Crafted Desserts, loaned their food truck to owner, Brian Alvarez, and now the establishment is serving a limited menu Tuesday through Saturday from 3-8ish on the patio. Live music can be heard here and at strategic locations along Shoal Line Boulevard, where most Hernando Beach businesses are located. The local pizzeria, Matoli’s Pizza, was bringing pies out to workers up and down the Boulevard a few days into the rebuilding. The Drunken Mullet gave a shout-out to them on their social media as they let their loyal patrons know they were not giving up. Now they have half-price kids' meals and line-dancing lessons on Wednesdays. At the Hernando Beach Marina, the Hernando Beach Tropical Grill welcomes all under the beautiful tiki roof along the water. The Lazy Lizard is open. If you are looking for a more open-air cruise, the Freaky Tiki pontoon cruises are running. Fun, food, and freedom are prevalent as the community moves back into its regular pace. Yann Milchendeau, owner of the Hernando Beach Motel and the Silver Dolphin Restaurant and Country Store, lost most of his motel in the flooding and he vowed to rebuild bigger and better. When I spoke to him, Yann said he expected to have the motel back up in 2 ½ months. Most of the rooms in the area are taken by displaced residents and the usual Airbnb crowd isn’t being seen in these hospitality businesses. Still, the businesses are coming back stronger than ever. It is refreshing, even if they seem a bit exhausted. Autum Proctor, artist, with her Breast Cancer Mermaid mural on the Silver Dolphin Restaurant. This was done after the hurricanes. Image courtesy of Autum Proctor. He and his staff brought the Silver Dolphin back within three weeks. “Eight of my employees volunteered, along with my family and friends and we went to work. We hired a wonderful company to clean and disinfect the restaurant and they did so in eight days. After Helene, we had to source new restaurant equipment from the other side of the state because ours had been ruined, but we did it.” Before Hurricane Helene hit, Yann and his crew worked tirelessly for two days to put the equipment and inventory up and move it to safety. “This saved us a lot of money, time and grief,” Yann shared. “The restaurant and store are now better than ever. In fact, the community is coming back better. We try to make it better for the customers.” Hernando Beach residents and businesses were dealt a huge disaster with double hurricanes in September and October. There were mountains of trash on the sides of the roads. Even the people who have homes on stilts had things stored under their homes that were ruined – golf carts, shelves of tools and toys. Still, Hernando County did an amazing job of providing emergency services including showers, washing machines, and shelter. Residents, volunteers, and the government worked tirelessly to lessen the short and long-term damage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI_-mX5OMKs&list=PLfn4k5kCVNyIMoe7dsoHuCXaoa2JWaitB&index=5 People and businesses are rebuilding with flood-resistant products and processes. Outlets are moved higher on walls. Walls at ground level are made of materials that can be rinsed off. All of this takes a toll on a community – even a tight-knit one with a purpose like Hernando Beach, so those of us who live around here might want to take a trip out to “the beach” to support them… not so much as a charity but more of a congratulations and a reverie – a salute to the spirit of what makes our Nature Coast so great – our people. Many parks in the area have reopened, including Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and kayak rentals. Bayport Park and pier are open, Linda Pedersen Park is open, the Weeki Wachee preserve beckons hikers and bikers, Jenkins Creek, and even some boat ramps. On December 7, there will be a special Community Christmas Party and Toys for Tots drive on from 3-5 pm at the Hernando County Yacht Club. Instead of their usual Christmas Boat Parade, we’re hosting this event to bring some much-needed cheer to our community. A painter at the Hernando Beach Art Walk earlier this year. Image by Diane Greenwell. On the same day, there will be the Hernando Beach Art Walk from 10 am to 2 pm. With local artists displaying and selling their wares at the Silver Dolphin, it is a great time to come out and shop for unique, hand-crafted art and meet the creators. Stop in for breakfast, stroll the art walk and then join the Community Christmas Party. This “just a little bit off the beaten path” community needs its neighbors to come out and have fun with them. Let’s be tourists in our own home and get out to the Beach. “Keeping our doors open in Hernando Beach isn’t just about business—it’s about bringing life and resilience back to our community. Every visitor we welcome and every local job we support helps rebuild the spirit of this place we all love,” Sheryl Coggins of the Marina Rose Cruise Experience explains. I could not say it better. Cocktails & Vibes
Cocktails and Vibes: The Best Spots in Tulsa for a Perfect Night Out
Look, we’ve all been there—after a long week, there’s nothing quite like kicking back with a well-crafted cocktail. But here’s the catch: it’s not just about the drink. Sure, a perfectly balanced Old Fashioned or a mind-blowing Margarita is a must, but the vibe is everything. You want a place where the atmosphere is just as good as the cocktail in your hand. A spot where you can sip, relax, and maybe even take a pic for the ’gram (because, you know, it didn’t really happen unless it’s on social).
Lucky for us, Tulsa is absolutely killing the game when it comes to cocktail bars that not only serve up some of the best drinks in town but also have vibes so good you’ll want to stay all night. Whether you're meeting up with friends, going on a date, or just looking to unwind solo, these are the top spots in Tulsa where cocktails and ambiance go hand-in-hand. Let’s get into it.
Valkyrie: For the Cocktail Connoisseur
Over in the Tulsa Arts District, you’ll find Valkyrie—a place that’s all about the cocktails. These folks take their mixology seriously, but don’t worry, there’s no pretentiousness here. It’s the kind of spot where you can tell the bartender what flavors you like and they’ll whip up something custom, just for you.
Their menu is always changing based on what’s fresh and in season, but if you’re not sure where to start, go for the Bee’s Knees or the Corpse Reviver #2 (a personal favorite of Mark’s). The drinks are strong, balanced, and absolutely delicious.
Vibe Check: Sleek, industrial, and laid-back—perfect for when you’re out with friends or just want to sip something strong in a moody atmosphere.
The Bull in the Alley: Hidden Speakeasy Vibes
If you want to impress someone (or just treat yourself), head to The Bull in the Alley. This place isn’t just a bar—it’s an experience. Located in an actual alley (you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a secret speakeasy), the whole vibe screams exclusivity.
Their cocktail menu is filled with classic options, but the Martini is where it’s at. It’s smooth, perfectly chilled, and will make you feel like you’re channeling your inner James Bond.
Vibe Check: Dark, mysterious, and ultra-luxe. Perfect for date night or when you want to feel a little fancy.
Saturn Room: Tiki Fun Without the Beach
If you’re craving something a little more fun and tropical, Saturn Room is your spot. This tiki-themed bar is all about the island vibes—think bamboo décor, colorful lights, and drinks served in those adorable tiki mugs. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to a tropical island, minus the plane ticket.
Order the Mai Tai or the Painkiller, and get ready for some seriously strong rum drinks. Bonus: They often serve your cocktails with little umbrellas, which is exactly the vibe we all need sometimes.
Vibe Check: Fun, tropical, and super laid-back. Great for groups or anyone looking to pretend they’re on vacation for the night.
Amelia’s: Rooftop Drinks with a View
Sometimes you just want to sip a cocktail while watching the sunset, and for those moments, Amelia’s has you covered. Their rooftop bar is one of the best places in Tulsa to grab a drink, take in the view, and relax with friends.
When it comes to cocktails, Amelia’s keeps it classy. Their Paloma is top-tier, and the Negroni is about as perfect as it gets. But honestly, with that view, everything just tastes better up here.
Vibe Check: Rooftop magic with a side of luxury. Perfect for a chill evening with a view.
MixCo: Chill Vibes with Serious Drinks
Located right across from the BOK Center, MixCo is the go-to spot for a casual drink before or after a show. But don’t let the chill vibes fool you—the cocktails here are no joke. They’re creative, balanced, and have just the right amount of flair.
Their New Fashioned is a fun twist on the classic Old Fashioned, and if you’re into something a little more playful, the Smoked Pineapple Margarita is a must. It’s the kind of drink that instantly makes you want to kick back and savor the moment.
Vibe Check: Casual, cozy, and perfect for pre- or post-event drinks. Ideal for when you’re not in the mood for anything too fancy but still want a killer cocktail.
Vintage Wine Bar: Classy Meets Cozy
If you’re more of a wine person but occasionally dabble in cocktails, Vintage Wine Bar is the perfect hybrid. Sure, their wine selection is on point, but their cocktail game is just as strong. Located in the Kendall-Whittier District, this spot offers a cozy, intimate vibe that feels like a hidden gem.
Try their French 75 or the Whiskey Sour for a cocktail experience that feels both elegant and approachable.
Vibe Check: Cozy, intimate, and unpretentious. Perfect for a low-key night out or a cozy date.
Boston Title & Abstract: Throwback Vibes and Timeless Cocktails
Boston Title & Abstract is one of those places where the vibe is as important as the drink in your hand. Located in Downtown Tulsa, this bar brings a throwback, vintage feel with its plush seating and moody lighting. It’s the perfect spot to sip on a classic cocktail and feel like you’ve stepped back in time.
Their Manhattan is a must, but if you’re feeling adventurous, go for the Paper Plane. It’s citrusy, balanced, and just the right amount of sweet.
Vibe Check: Old-school cool with a modern twist. Perfect for a classy night out.
Lounge at the Mayo: Historic Charm with a Cocktail Twist
For a little taste of Tulsa history with your drink, head to the Lounge at the Mayo. This spot is inside the historic Mayo Hotel, and the charm is undeniable. The cocktails are classic but well-executed, and the bartenders are more than happy to chat with you about the hotel’s storied past while they craft your drink.
Order the Sazerac or the French Martini, and then soak in the old-school glamour of the Mayo’s iconic lobby.
Vibe Check: Historic elegance with modern touches. Perfect for when you want a classy cocktail in a beautiful setting.
The Bottom Line: Tulsa’s Cocktail Scene Is All About Options
Whether you're in the mood for a tiki cocktail, a hidden speakeasy vibe, or rooftop drinks with a view, Tulsa’s cocktail scene has you covered. The best part? Each of these spots brings its own unique atmosphere, so no matter what kind of night you're after, there’s a perfect spot for you.
ps. #SpecialMention Hodges Bend: Always in our hearts ❤️ Although this venue is no longer with us due to a fire tragedy, it didn’t seem right to do a “best of” and not include them. We hope and believe they will be back with us (soon) and in the meantime let’s reflect on what we loved about Hodges…
If there were ever a place that just gets it, it’s Hodges Bend. Coffee, cocktails, wine—they do it all. The vibe here is effortlessly cool, with a mix of modern chic and vintage warmth. You can start your day here with a latte (because you’re fancy like that), but the real magic happens once the sun goes down.
Hodges Bend is known for its craft cocktails, and their Old Fashioned is basically a work of art. They also make a killer Aviation if you’re feeling adventurous. The bartenders here are total pros, so don’t be shy about asking for something off-menu.
Vibe Check: Dimly lit, intimate, and perfect for when you want to feel like you’re in on one of Tulsa’s best-kept secrets.

A Man from Sarasota won a Million in Lottery
It's great news to know that a man from Sarasota just won a million, and now becomes an instant millionaire. According to the report, a man named John Long, 68 years, has won a $1.75 million lottery jackpot in a Triple Play draw that was held on October 24, 2023. The Florida Lottery reported that Long purchased the ticket from Dearborn Corner Market in Englewood which received a $1,000 bonus from the lottery winnings. It's wow to know that Long will receive a lump-sum payment of $1,006,498.50 which make him an instant millionaire. Because of this, I personally become interested in playing ang trying my luck too. Hopefully, this will be good luck.

From its vast network of canals to stunning nature preserves and cultural hotspots, Cape Coral sightseeing offers a rich tapestry of attractions waiting to be explored.
1. Explore the Canals of Cape Coral
Cape Coral is known as the "Waterfront Wonderland," boasting over 400 miles of navigable canals, more than any other city in the world. A boat tour through these canals is a must-do for anyone interested in Cape Coral sightseeing. Whether you rent a kayak, paddleboard, or take a guided boat tour, you'll be treated to beautiful waterfront homes, lush mangroves, and abundant wildlife, including manatees and dolphins.

The park is home to a variety of native plants and wildlife, making it a perfect spot for birdwatching or simply enjoying a peaceful stroll in nature.
3. Take a Stroll at Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve
Another top spot for nature enthusiasts is the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve. This 365-acre preserve is one of the largest remaining mangrove swamps in Cape Coral and provides a tranquil setting for a day of exploration. The preserve features a 1.2-mile walking trail, a visitor center, and even a kayak launch if you want to paddle through the mangroves. Cape Coral sightseeing wouldn’t be complete without experiencing the natural beauty this preserve has to offer.
4. Discover the Cultural Park Theatre
For a dose of culture, head over to the Cultural Park Theatre, Cape Coral's oldest and most beloved performing arts venue. The theatre hosts a variety of performances throughout the year, including plays, musicals, and concerts. It’s a wonderful way to spend an evening and experience the local arts scene, adding a touch of culture to your Cape Coral sightseeing itinerary.

The butterfly house offers guided tours where you can learn about the life cycle of butterflies and see various native species up close. It's a fascinating and educational experience, especially for families with children.
