Their Sickly Star (Headcanons) Yandere Moon/Sun x Sick Gender Neutral Reader
[Hello, My Sexy Muffins! I am back, back again, Queen is back, tell a friend~ Anyways this one Has Moondrop with a Sick Reader! I hope that you all enjoy this!]  (Disclaimer: Moondrop and Sundrop are not yandere, this is just for fun and not to be taken seriously at all! Simping for fictional characters and yanderes is fine! Just do not be illegal or gross about it! You know who you are you dirty flaky biscuit! Yanderes are not ideal partners to have in real life! Also, remember to separate fiction from reality and headcanon from canon!) -Headcanons With Moondrop and Moondrop X Sick Gender Neutral Listener From FNAF-
.Moondrop is the quiet animatronic that normally watches over you while you sleep.  .So when he heard you struggling to breathe he scanned your body.
.He found out you were sick, so he decided to take care of you.
.Getting you cold cloaths for your fever.
.Having you take the medicine you need.
.Massaging out all your aches and pains with his vibrating fingers.
.He would not let you leave the bed at all!  .He is firm on keeping you nice and safe in bed.
.He may even tie you to the bed if you try to leave it without permission.
.He is very firm with keeping you healthy, safe, and sound.
.He is very protective of you, but also very calm and very in control.
.Since he is yandere he would NOT LET Anyone around you when you are sick.
.He would order doordash and or other delivery services for groceries and food for you. Not to mention medicine.
.If a rival of his got you sick he would not be happy with them, banning them from the house.
.Now if this was at the daycare he would kidnap you and keep you tied down and gagged so you do not cry out for help.  .He would make sure that you got plenty of sleep and rest for you, making sure you are safe and sound.  .He would not let any of the other staff take you from him.
.He would accuse your coworkers that they made you sick and that would make him even more worried.
.He would be a possessive caretaker, he wants to be the only one to take care of you.
.Sundrop and him are the only good partners and caretakers for you.
.He is very sweet in his own way and would protect you.
.He would tell you how much he loves you while you are sick, and that you only need him and sundrop.
.That he would kill for you to keep you healthy and safe.  -Now Sundrop-
.Now Sundrop is a very much worry wart!
.He is frantic thinking that you are going to die!
.He is very overprotective and supper possessive.
.He needs to be the one to take care of you and wish Moon did not have to take care of you either. You are his sunshine! Not moons!  .Sundrop is a bit more in your face about taking care of your health.
.He would be the one to drug you if he had to, unlike moondrop.
.He would do it so you could not move so you could not leave him.  .He is protective and clingy as a yandere with you his sickly star.
.He would be hovering with you, making sure you are okay, and asking over and over if you need anything.
.He would have you eating so much chicken noodle soup you would feel it was coming out of your nose!
.Sundrop would punish anyone who would have got you sick.
.Who did they think they were? Making his sweet star sick and making them feel bad.
.They needed to be punished!  .He would carry you everywhere you needed to go and would smother you with love.  .Instead of tying you down, he would lay in the bed with you, holding you to his chest, all you need is him!  .He is worried moondrop would be too scary to you when you are sick.
[YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS another chapter is done! I hope you all enjoyed this and stay sexy, all of my sexy muffins! I decided to do Sundrop in this as well, just so you know! Stay Sexy Again!]

Caught up in Caution
"You know that if they even start to sense that you might be uncomfortable with something- they’re gonna stop and make sure you’re okay. Let alone if you actually say that you’re uncomfortable? Oh, they’re gonna treat it like it’s an emergency."
Pairing: Sun/Moon/Reader
Word Count: 2,139
minors DNI - 18+ content below the cut
Tumblr media
Contains: [afab!Reader] [sub!bottom!Reader] [gentle dom!top!Sun & Moon] [no gendered terms used] [Sun & Moon are separate animatronics] [implied DP] [it isn't necessarily a "first time trying DP" scenario but could probably be read as such]
A/Ns: this is literally just my rambling thoughts about communication and ongoing consent during sex with Sun and Moon, because sex isn’t always perfect and smooth, which eventually turns into a little drabble about them being afraid that they’ve hurt you
Tumblr media
As fun as all the other kinkier and rougher stuff can be- the main thing I keep returning to and pining over is the thought of just.. gentle, careful, loving and comforting sex with Sun & Moon.
Just… so fucking soft. Slow. Calm. Safe. Sane. Consensual.
Because, as far as the versions of them that live in my head go- they’re actually surprisingly good at sharing. The last thing they want to do is make you feel like you’re just some toy that they can’t stop fighting over. They love you but they also love each other. This isn’t a competition.
They’re not gonna do anything that causes you to show even the slightest sign of hesitance. Their eyes are constantly darting back up to look into yours, continually making sure that this is okay, that you still feel safe, that you still want this.
Constant little questions being whispered from both of them.
“Is- is this okay? Not too much?”
“Does that feel good, Sunshine?”
“I’m not gripping you too tight, am I?”
“Is this alright, Starlight?”
“You promise you’re comfortable between us like this?”
Some people might fear that asking so many little questions like that during sex might be a turn off. For you though, honestly, it’s the complete opposite. Nothing makes it easier for you to let go and enjoy what’s happening than the constant reminder that you can say no, or stop, or slow down, or change your mind at any time. That you’re the one in control here. Even while knowing that they could overpower you in one second flat- you feel so safe because you know that they won’t.
You know that if they even start to sense that you might be uncomfortable with something- they’re gonna stop and make sure you’re okay. Let alone if you actually say that you’re uncomfortable? Oh, they’re gonna treat it like it’s an emergency.
Even if it’s just some small thing, like, “Hey.. can we uh.. can we switch positions a little bit? My body’s getting a little tired..” they’re already moving as quickly as they can while trying to remain gentle with you.
Sun completely pulls out in his slight panic, torn between wanting to go slow with you and wanting to relieve your discomfort as quickly as possible, before you can even tell him that that’s not even necessary.
You try telling him that he wasn’t hurting you, but you can tell that both bots are quickly getting lost in their shared headspace, conversing rapidly and silently with each other out of instinct, the same way they always solved any problems that arose when it was just them alone, against the world. Together.
The thoughts that constantly fire back and forth between them quickly shift from calm to panicked.

Outside their headspace, at the same time, they’re talking aloud over one another, asking you twenty questions. “Are you okay? Did I hurt you? Where does it hurt, starlight? Do you want to stop? Was I too rough?”
You can’t help but feel a wave of emotion wash over you, your throat getting a little tight and eyes shining with a hint of tears at the sight of these two fools being so careful with you that they think they did something horribly wrong just because your thighs are tired.
It’s extremely endearing.
You can’t help the way you smile as you attempt to reign in their worried thoughts and questions. Finally, your voice seems to break through their combined internal noise and you catch their focus.
“Hey- hey - look at me. Can you two look at me, please?” Their heads snap to attention, looking up from where they were scanning all over you looking for signs of injury. Sun’s hands slowing their cautious search to a halt on your waist while Moon’s settle feather light on your outer thighs. Both of their thumbs gently brushing back and forth over your skin- a little sign of affection that they both share.
Looking back and forth between them as you speak, you calm them before they can get carried away thinking they did something wrong. “There we go. Listen to me, loves- I’m okay . Completely okay. I promise. You didn’t do anything wrong, and I don’t want to stop, my thighs literally just got tired of the position we were in.”
You can’t help but laugh a little at yourself, sitting here explaining the concept of your muscles getting tired to two beings that could probably keep going until the actual sun burns out and never even need to slow down. “As incredible as it feels.. I can’t hold that position forever, unfortunately. But, I promise- you haven’t hurt me. I just wanted to shift around a little, okay?”
Sun lets out a conflicted whine as he rests the top of his faceplate against the back of your shoulder, rays retracted in lingering worry. Moon looks up at the two of you with a mix of love and concern written all over his features. Sun’s always been the more anxious of the two, so even though Moon seems to have realized that nothing is actually wrong, he knows Sun might need a little longer to stop overthinking things.
One of Moon’s hands reaches up to find Sun’s, and you feel him gently sliding it up over your hip, along your side and working his way under Sun’s hand to lace their fingers together, getting his attention. His gravelly voice calls out to him quietly. “Sunny, it’s okay. They’re not hurt, see? I know you’re scared of being too much for them.. you know I am too.. but needing a break from physical exertion after a while is normal for humans. We both know that. It doesn’t mean that we’ve hurt them.”
He looks at you for confirmation, faceplate clicking to the right twice, in semblance of cocking his head to the side in question. “Right, little Star?”
At his question, you pull yourself out of the zone you were lost in, having gotten caught up in watching Moon be so soft and affectionate with Sun. He knew how to talk him down better than anyone.
You echo his sentiment. “Yes, exactly! I’m okay. Everyone’s okay, Sunny.” You turn your head as best as you can to look at him, but with how he’s pressed up against you, holding you from behind, you eventually just settle for nuzzling your cheek up against the edge of his faceplate. Sun pulls in a deep simulated breath, attempting to cool out his system before speaking up.
“I don’t mean to overreact, truly! But.. when it comes to things like this, it’s just.. anything involving something so intimate with you.. I can’t afford to hurt you. I can’t afford to mess this up. Want this to be perfect for you, you know? We both do.. and.. even if Moon doesn’t show it as much.. I know he’s nervous too.” The hand of his that’s still resting on your waist starts to move again, fingertips slowly tracing the outline of your form as he calms himself down.
You struggle to suppress the shiver that runs through you in response to the feeling, not wanting your body’s involuntary response to ruin the emotional moment. With your eyes closed, leaning back against Sun, you miss the slight smirk that grows on Moon’s face when he catches the way you tense up around him. Even without looking, though, you already know there’s no way he didn’t notice, given that he’s still buried to the hilt inside you. Both of you ignore it in favor of making sure that Sun is okay, though.
Sun’s voice comes out a bit sheepish when he speaks up again. “Sorry if I, uhm.. ruined the moment..” he trails off and you speak up before he can think something like that for one more second.
You reach behind you and gently tilt his faceplate up to look at you. “No, honey, you haven’t ruined anything. Not at all. ” You turn to look down at Moon, who isn’t doing as good of a job at hiding the concern on his face as he might think he is, and you speak to both of them.
“Neither of you have ruined this. I’ll remind you as many times as I need to, I love how careful you two are with me. It doesn’t pull me out of the moment when you ask if something is okay. It doesn’t ruin anything if we need to stop and switch positions. Your frequent checking in with me makes me feel so safe, and that allows me to relax, and that allows me to feel good. I love it. I really do.”
You reach down and find Moon’s hand where it’s been gently kneading at your thigh. “I’m more than happy to pick back up where we left off as long as you two want to as well. Or, if anyone’s not up for more right now we can always take a break and just cuddle and relax. It’s your call. You guys have just as much of a say in what we do as I do, remember? I want you both to be comfortable as well.”
Sun looks down at Moon and is met with a look that has shifted into the same patient, loving expression that he sees on your face. “I- I mean- I’m definitely still up for more if you two are. Now that I know you’re okay, Sunshine. I.. I’d still like to finish what we started.” He says with a small smile, looking down like he’s embarrassed to admit what he wants.
And he is, sometimes.
He can get a little shy when it comes to actually vocalizing all the things he wants to do with the two of you. He’s grateful that both Moon and you seem to find it nothing but endearing.
You look to Moon to see what he wants and if the devious little grin that has made it’s way back onto his face says anything, you know what he’s gonna say. Not to mention, with way your body is settled down against him, you can feel the vibrations that reverberate through him when he speaks, almost like he’s doing it on purpose.
“Well… if both of you are still feeling up to it, you know g̸͎̫͛o̵̫͙͘d̸̖̊d̸̮͒̍å̴͙̈ͅm̸̳̭̈n̷̘͐͌ well I am.” His voice box seems reluctant to form the word, but he brute forces it anyways, and you don’t know if his glitchy attempt at cursing should turn you on as much as it does. Well, it’s not like you could ever hide your honest reaction from him anyways, if your wetness beginning to pool at the base of his pelvic plate is anything to go by.
If Sun takes any sort of issue with Moon’s use of “foul language, he doesn’t show it, the solar bot already preoccupied with seeing to it that you’re still prepared to take him. Long, gentle fingers slowly opening you back up as you let yourself fall forward, back arching instinctually, hands bracing yourself on Moon’s chest. His hands make their way back to your hips, fingers rubbing gentle circles into the soft curves of your form, still ever mindful of the fact that you’re fragile.
“I do recall the both of us making a promise to fill you up.. and I would certainly like to uphold my end of the deal.” His eyes flick away from where they’d trailed down between you two, his focus always drawn to where the three of you connect, back to your face. “If that still sounds appealing to you, of course, Starlight.”
Sun can’t help but giggle at the way your breath hitches at the simple combination of Moon’s words and his fingers finding a certain sweet spot that he’d been searching for. You shiver and shift between them in response to the thought of being completely full of them both again, and you nod your head eagerly, “yes, please” falling from your lips so easily, over and over, quickly falling back into the headspace that makes it so easy to just take. To relax, to let go, and beg for them to give you everything they can.
You know you’re in safe hands, and you’re eager to let those hands wander wherever they please.

Kinktober Week 4 - Overstimulation
Fandom: FNAF SB
Pairing: Sun x Reader x Moon
Wordcount: 669 words
Tags: fingering, overstimulation, punishment
Summary: After you’ve forgotten to tell your animatronic lovers you had the week off, both of them decide you need punishment for your forgetfulness.
Tumblr media
You groaned as the lights went back on. Moon had been in a frisky mood, and as soon as he had spotted you in the empty daycare, just here to say hi after one of you security rounds, he had pulled you somewhere out of sight to touch you all over. And it hadn't even started cute like he sometimes would initiate with some kisses, some hugging, maybe even some teasing tickling, no he went straight for his prize; your pants and underwear were down as soon as he had pulled you to a safe spot.
"Good day to you too, Moon," you said as you realised you were now naked from the waist down,  Moon hovering over you with a shit eating grin, and fingers at the ready.
"Naughty little Star," he giggled, voice edged with his signature growl, "When were you going to tell me and Sun that you had the last week off?"
Oh, that's what you had forgotten. You were a 100% certain you had told Sun at least once, but he might've been in the middle of wrangling some kids, and you had told yourself you'd tell him properly when he'd be able to actually listen to you. And then you'd completely forgotten.
"I did," you squeaked, but didn't sound very persuasive as Moon already had one finger wriggling inside of you. "Moon, you're really-"
"Liar, liar, pants on fire," Moon sang, thrusting one long finger in with every word. "For forgetting and lying I'm now going to punish you."
And what a punishment it was. First you were unsure how him fingering you could be punishment, until you were so close to the edge and you suddenly feared he was going to deny you your orgasm. He didn't. With a growl he told you to come, and you gasped as you did, realising with fear he wasn't stopping his rough thrusting. His other hand had found itself under your shirt, kneading your boobs as he growled against the skin of your thighs. Sharp teeth just rubbing against the skin as his tongue came out to lick up against your outer lips.
"That's one. Can you keep count for me, Sweetling?"
And it hadn't stopped at that one, or the one after that, you were already sobbing in the minutes it took for the lights to come back on, sticky and sore as Moon had brought you over the edge quite some times. Relief flooded you as the lights sprung on, but Moon's giggle and the little wave he did promised you more to come. At least being with Sun would grant you some relief from Moon's pleasure turned torture, or so you thought.
You quickly realised that was not the case as Sun came out, pout in his voice so evident you could've sworn his permanent smile had turned into a frown.
"Sun, I really told you," you mumbled desperately, weak from Moon's onslaught, and so ready for a little break, but Sun wouldn't hear it.
"I can't remember, Sunflower, and therefore it never, ever happened. My memories are perfect, you know?" He wiggled his fingers, still slick from your juices, inspecting them briefly before pushing you back down onto the little nest that you were in.
“Please, Sunbun, I need to get back to doing my rounds, my job-“
“Can wait,” Sun interrupted, almost sounding mean when he pressed his cool fingers against your clit that was still throbbing and swollen. “Moon had his chance to punish you, and now it’s my turn. It’s only fair!” He leaned down to give you a peck on the lips, but his sweetness was offset by the rubbing of his fingers over your body, telling you he was still being strict with you. Punishment far from over.
His long fingers slipped inside, and you sobbed as you felt you body respond instantly. And really, for all your complaining this was the best kind of punishment you could’ve wished for. It was going to be a long night.

Sea Salt Like Glitter: Part One
Summary: You’re a forest ranger. Trees and mammals are your specialty. Mermaids in the ocean? Way outside your area of expertise. Good News: They like you. Bad News: They like you a lot
Mer! Sun x  Plus Sized! Reader x Mer! Moon
Part One (Here!), Part Two ,Part Three
Enjoy the first of the wedding month stories! I’m guessing this is going to be around 3-4 parts. I’m a sucker for Sun and Moon and couldn’t leave the Mer AU alone. I hope everyone enjoys!
Warnings: Trapped in Rocks, Blood, Dehydration, Different Species, Threats of Bodily Harm
The best time to go to your beach is around twilight. It’s not technically your beach but your house is the closest one to the water for miles. And technically it’s a ranger station, not a house, but it feels like home after a year of working. You enjoy the calmness of the ocean, gulls screaming and diving overhead. The air smells like salt but you appreciate the burn now. Part of the job is that you have to patrol the waterfront at least once a week and you do that at twilight.
Fredrick Fitzgerald Beach and Forest. One of the most treasured pieces of nature in the country. Nicknamed ‘Pizza Beach’ after the restaurant chain started under the same family, the protected land is looked over by a special kind of warden. A cross between forest ranger, ocean rescue and PR personality, they have the job of living on site full time and making sure people leave the animals alone. And right now, that’s you.
There are other people of course, tour guides and rangers that help at the nature center. You wave at the groups on the hiking trails and listen to the animal facts that you’ve heard 100 times. What you do is different, more secluded. You’re on the other side of the ‘Do Not Cross’ sign and you take your job seriously.
The last few days have been quiet and you’re hoping that the weekend stays that way. Thunderstorms are going to start later in the evening and you’re hoping to be done by then. You had chased some kids off earlier, teenagers looking for ‘a cool place to hang’ and the weather would hopefully deter anyone else from sneaking in.
The water is starting to darken, deep blue going navy. You take a deep breathe, scanning the sand for any trash or people. There isn’t anything as far as the eye can see and you relax, smiling to yourself. Some people think that it’s lonely, being out here for weeks and sometimes months at a time. You enjoy it; you’d rather be with nature than people any day.
You start to hum, watching as the sun finally slips below the horizon. Now your favorite part of the night starts. There are a few moments of darkness before lights begin to flicker under the water. The underwater bioluminescence becomes visible to the naked eye; even after all this time it’s hard to believe that it’s real. The water is much, much deeper than it looks and there’s something in the water that promotes the creatures to glow. Scientists come to study sometimes and you stay out of their way, you’re more of a forest person.
Everything in the water looks normal and you watch the fish dart around, smiling as you stroll part of the beach. You jump as thunder rolls overhead and speed up, calves burning with trying to move quickly through sand. You don’t want to get poured on, walking up the path towards your cabin. The climb is steep and you’re panting by the end of it. The cliffs gives a great view of the water, large rocks creating an outcropping off shore. They jut high out of the water, the largest shaped like an arch. Lazy glowing turns into streaks, fish scattering; must be something bigger under there.
Another clap of thunder bellows and you take off, rain falling in waves. You swear to yourself; your boots had finally just dried out. It’s a struggle to get the cabin door open and you’re glad you know your way around; it’s hard to see anything with the rain and wind. You watch the trees sway for a bit before going to get changed. There’s nothing to do now but wait out the storm.
It’s a couple days before you head back to the beach. Lightening hit one of the larger trees and you’ve spent the last couple days making sure none of the forest caught fire. It’s not ideal but the job can change quickly. After making sure the nature center was alright, you finally head down to the beach. It’s mid-day, much earlier than you would normally go but you’re tired and want to head back early.
The beach is a mess. Seaweed and branches still cover the sand, the waves calm as if nothing had happened. These are some dead smaller fish but nothing too large and you’re thankful for that. Without thinking you begin to clean things up, gathering the sticks closest to you. You half watch a diving gull, seeing it swoop low and then fly off towards the large rock outcrop.
The air leaves your lungs as a gasp, wood falling to the ground at your feet. You can feel your heart starting to pound faster, brain trying to catch up to your eyes. It’s hard to see from the beach but there’s something in the rocks. You curse at yourself for not having your binoculars on you and turn to the stairs, taking a deep breath. It’ll be easier to see up from the cliffs and you’ll be able to tell what it is. Hopefully.
You curse the stairs once you’re at the top, knees aching. You love your job but it’s not made for fat people, even if you’re damn good at it. The sun is hot on your skin and you place your hand over your eyes, squinting at the rocks. It’s a better angle but farther away and you think you see something in the rock arch. It looks like another rock? Or maybe a log? It’s gray and part of you wonders if it’s some kind of ship that’s gotten stuck. The thought quickly leaves as something dark rises out of the water and slams hard against the surface. The gulls scatter with loud screaming and you feel like your eyes are going to pop out of your head.
Some sort of animal is stuck. Maybe a sea lion? A baby whale? Or a dolphin? You go over the possibilities as you rush back to the cabin. There’s a small boat you take out sometimes, mostly to chase fishing boats off. It’s nothing huge but the engine works and it should get you to the rocks.
At least you hope so. Being on the water makes you nervous; you can swim just fine but the boat rocking makes you sick. You don’t think about any of this as you take it to the water, putting it into the back of your truck. There isn’t a direct ride down to the beach but it’s better than nothing.
It takes an hour before you’re in the water heading to the rocks. You made sure to bring as many tools as you could, along with a camera, an emergency phone and gloves. You have no idea what kind of animal that you’re dealing with but if this creature has been stuck since the storm, it’s going to be in rough shape.
The rocks loom high overhead, casting dark shadows on the water. The sun is just starting to sink, even if it’ll take a few more hours. You have a water bottle and resist the urge to drink; you want to see what you’re dealing with first. You turn the boat off about 20 feet away and try to come to terms with what you’re seeing.
The hole in the rocks is about as big as a basketball hoop backboard, the edges not completely smooth but close enough. It’s about two feet above water and something is stuck. Scales so navy they look black are scrapped against the stone, bits of blood smeared as well. It doesn’t move as you get closer, swinging yourself around to get a better look.
You think that you’re looking at its back half. This side of the rocks is shaded by higher formations and it’s a bit difficult to see clearly under the water. Something that you guess must be a tail is slumped into the water but you can’t make out the shape. You grab an oar and paddle closer, letting the waves move you mostly.
Something hits the bottom of the boat and you jump; it was a brush more than anything and of course there are fish out here. The next hit is harder and the boat sways. You place your oar in the water to try to turn and something yanks. You yell as the oar is ripped from your hand and disappears into the water.
A loud rumble fills the air and you watch, horrified and full of awe, as the creature in the rocks moves. The tail rises and you realize that it’s not a tail, it’s webbing. Tentacles shoot out, some grabbing onto the rocks and others into the water. You quickly grab the other oar and move backwards, barely missing the flailing tentacles. Gulls on the rocks take to the sky and the creature begins to shift again.
It doesn’t take long to realize that it’s not doing well, whatever it is. It only struggles for a moment before sagging once more, the tentacles barely holding on. They push against the rocks but it’s weak and the longer you look, the worse it gets. The scales that are out of the water look dull and are starting to crack; it really has been stuck here since the storm.
You know that this isn’t a normal fish. First off, it looks like either a squid or an octopus but both of those would be able to get out of a hole. Also, the hissing and growling coming from the other side of the rock is ominous. You’ve never heard anything like it. You want to head back but you can’t ignore the suffering in front of you. Taking a deep breath, you count to five before paddling to the other side. You ignore the way your hands shake and hope that whatever it is won’t kill you.
Immediately the hissing turns into snarling and you meet blood red eyes. You flinch, holding the oar across your chest like it’ll help you defend yourself. Sharp teeth snap at your and you can feel the waves from the tentacles behind the rock. You’re not in the line of fire and you take a moment to understand what you’re looking at.
A furious face is set on a head coverd in fins, gills fluttering around the neck. The strong torso is covered in navy scales and two arms are digging into the rockface. You look the creature over once and then twice, your eyes always going back up to its face. It looks pissed and like it wants to break you in half. Blood red eyes stare out from a gunmetal gray face and keeps you in it sights.
“Holy shit.” Your voice makes the snarling quiet down, almost like it’s waiting for you to say something. “You’re a mermaid?” You phrase it as a question and the creature, honest to fuck, rolls its mother fucking eyes at you.
At the same time you take it in, the creature looks you over. You’re not much to look at, between your sad little boat and ranger uniform. It eyes you for a little longer between settling back down and looking exhausted. It’s hands, covered in long claws, detangle from the rock and lay against the surface. That’s when you realize it’s pinned.
There’s a log wedged between the rocks, washed up from the storm. The creature is half wrapped around it, the log pushing hard against it’s chest and forcing it’s torso out of the water. One of it’s arms can touch the water but the other is pinned too high up, it’s shoulders pushed far back. It looks painful and you wince in sympathy. You get a snarl for your look, the creature sending you a glare.
It’s eyes close with what you guess is exhaustion, not deeming you a threat. You want to argue but don’t; no need to push your luck. It looks worse from the front, scales dull and patches missing. The rockface has be gauged deeply in the mers struggle to be free.
It’s beautiful. Navy fins on its head and arms lay low, curled up and dull. It’s torso is lighter, the color of sand in moonlight. It’s clearly built for hunting; it might be lean but it’s covered in muscles. Darker scales cover the torso like stars and you know that you can’t leave it here, even if it wants to kill you.
“Hey.” Your voice has the creature opening it’s eyes again but only halfway. It takes you a second to get that they’re squinting at you; the sun must be bothering them. You lick your lips, knowing that it’s crazy to be talking to something this big. “Do you uh, want me to help you?” You wince at how uncertain you sound and the creature looks even more unimpressed than before. You hear something hit the water and assume it’s a tentacle.
You hold up a length of rope and then gesture ot the log. Eyes flicker between rope, your face and log. Some sort of spark comes into its face and it’s claws curl into the rocks slowly. You put the rope down and grab the oar, slowly moving closer.
It’s hard to get a good judge of size because of how it’s stuck but you guess that it’s at least eight feet long, maybe closer to nine. It doesn’t move as you get closer, eyes locked on you. The log is wedged in two places, one part under the water and the other above. When you look down, the bottom half seems to be covered in rocks, probably from the struggling. The only real option is to loop the rope of the top and yank.
“I’m going to go for the top.” You talk and gesture as you move closer, trying to be transparent in your movements. “The bottom half looks too stuck.” You would be concerned by the lack of response if it wasn’t for the red pinned on your face. It takes a little bit to get the boat maneuvered just right and the scrapping of its claws gets louder. You do your best to ignore the impatience; you don’t want to end up in the water today. Not now that you know things like this exist.
There’s a splash in the other direction and you flinch hard, almost falling from where you’re standing. The creature snarls, sharp teeth flashing in the sun and you look over the water. Nothing breaches the surface again and you shake your arms, trying to get rid of the tension. As long as there isn’t another predator you should be alright.
You have to throw the rope a few times before it’s looped just right and you can feel the waves of judgment coming out of the mermaid. Mer creature? You’re not stupid enough to pretend this isn’t some sort of intelligent creature; you’ve been pinching yourself too much for it to be a dream. That doesn’t mean that you want it commenting on your physical abilities and ignore how embarrassed you’re getting. Finally, you get the rope secured and you tug it to make sure. You can sense the growing impatience behind you and vow silently to go faster. It’s already in rough shape and you don’t want it to suffer.
Sending one last silent plea inside your mind, you start the boat engine back up. The creature flinches inside the rock and the gentle rumblings turn more into a hiss. You glance over and it flashes it’s teeth with a ‘get on with it’ feeling. You don’t hesitate, afraid that you’re going to lose your nerve. You throw the engine into reserve and gun it back, the boat taking off as fast as it can.
The rope is pulled taught quickly and you jerk, almost going into the water. Creaky rumbles come from the creature and you want to swear when you realize it’s laughing at you. You ease the boat back forward before going in reverse again, your eyes locked on the log. The first time it didn’t move but the second it seemed to slip. Gritting your teeth you repeat the actions, the log slowly becoming free.
The creature must feel it moving because it begins to push, well as much as it can with it’s chest. It looks painful with the open wounds but it doesn’t care, eyes getting brighter as the log shifts. You give it one last tug and the log comes free, the creature letting out an ear-piercing shriek.
A few things happen at once. Your boat, tugging with all it’s might, flies back once the resistance is gone and you scramble to not turn over. The creature slides backwards into the hole, sliding into the shadow covered water. Lastly, bright red fins crest the water in front of you, darting behind the rock.
Your boat spins for an embarrassingly long time; your arms ache and it takes everything in you to prevent it from flipping. The bottom of the boat has a good couple inches of water but you’re upright. A miracle. The clicking and hissing sounds are all gone now and it’s just you and the gulls. You watch the water once your heart calms down, eyes darting around to see if you can spot the creature in the water.
You wait for ten minutes before slapping your cheeks and turning the boat back towards shore. Your mission was officially done and you need to lay down, maybe have a drink, maybe get high. There was a lot you have to think about and you don’t want to do it in the open water. Two pairs of eyes, one red and one blue, watch as you make your way back to shore and share a silent look. The water barely ripples as they sink below the waves, determined to pay you back in some way.

Happy Birthday Juicy! (Not Wholesome)
This one is smut that was requested by @juicyyyboxxx for their birthday. (Possessive)Sun & Moon x Reader. Contains biting/hickeys and all sorts of spicy stuff.
5600+ words. Enjoy~
Edit: Hey guys. Do me a favor and don’t like/reblog this if you find it. I don’t want to delete it, and I’m not sure if there’s a way to private/mute a post this old. But the person I wrote it for isn’t in my life anymore, for reasons I don’t really know and therefor can’t really understand. It hurts being reminded of someone who decided to cut contact out of the blue.
Thanks.
Another day, another dollar, here at Fazbear. The family friendly Pizzeria and Arcade. The place where magic happened.
For everyone but you, at least. For you, it was just another work day.
Just another work day that happened to be your birthday.
Not that it mattered. You certainly weren’t getting one of those opt-in celebratory announcements offered by the company. Because Fazbear, ever the penny pinching establishment, would have taken money out of your paycheck if you had opted in. If memory served right, they would have charged you something like $50 for a miniature cake with a candle, a couple of streamers, and some party hats. Party hats which all of the staff bots would have been stuck wearing.
The wonders of capitalism! Where work could charge you $50 for something that might cost you $15 to put together yourself.
No.
None of that.
You wouldn’t be paying that much for an empty sentiment. Forcing a bunch of animatronics and coworkers to celebrate your birthday just felt wrong. Getting all of those disingenuous birthday wishes would only rub salt into the wounds dealt by reality.
This was just another day that happened to be your birthday.
There was no one at home waiting for you. Not even a house plant.
The house plant had long since died of neglect. Or of depression.
Being stuck with you whenever you were home must’ve sapped the life out of the poor thing. Not that you could blame it if that was the case. The only company it ever had was an exhausted minimum wage worker who forgot to water it most days.
Aka you.
You and the empty silence of your home.
That was how you knew life was bad. Somehow, it was better to be at work.
The animatronics were lively. Seeing all the happy kids playing in the arcade or the daycare filled a void in you in a way you couldn’t quite explain.
Really, it was the sound of their laughter. The sound of joy just had a way of dulling the ache residing in your chest. Laughter brought a sense of unity. That sense of unity went to war with loneliness.
Most days, that false sense of belonging felt just real enough to chase away the feeling of emptiness for a while.
Only for a while.
But today, unfortunately, wasn’t most days.
Because you knew it was your birthday. You knew that it was supposed to be a day of celebration.
Yet you had to treat it just like any other unimportant day.
In doing so, you made yourself feel unimportant. Or maybe you just reminded yourself of how unimportant you were, in the grand scheme of things.
What a depressing way of thinking, that was. Not that you could help it.
Even here in the daycare, you couldn’t help it. Despite the cheerful, upbeat music that was playing, you couldn’t help but feel glum. You couldn’t help but feel lonely and neglected.
For the sake of the kids, you pushed through it. For the sake of keeping them happy and not worrying them, you put on your best customer service smile and did your job with forced enthusiasm. You certainly had the little ones fooled with your little show.
The Daycare Attendant animatronic, on the other hand, was not so easily fooled. Not that they did anything to hint at them noticing your glum mood.
You spent the day going about business as usual. You played with the little ones. You helped pass out snacks come snack time. You cleaned dirty faces and hands. You dealt with the tantrums of the tots that didn’t want to settle down for naptime. Anything that Sun or Moon might need help with, you did, and you did it to the best of your ability.
This was the usual routine in the daycare. Children were a handful, but you didn’t hate dealing with them.
Was it tiring? Yes.
Was it fulfilling? Absolutely.
Did it always make you just a little bit sad when the day was over and the kids had all gone home for the day? Unfortunately, yes.
It was always sad when the kids were gone and work was done. Because that meant that your shift was almost over, and that it was time for you to head home.
Normally, you would stick around for the cleanup then chat with Sun or Moon until the end of your shift.
Generally it only took fifteen to twenty minutes. You expected it to only take those fifteen to twenty minutes.
What you didn’t expect was for the lights to go out when it was time for you to leave.
What you didn’t expect was for metal arms to wrap around you as you stood to make your way towards the doors. Or for a large, animatronic hand to cover your mouth to stifle your voice.
It was hard not to panic when you were suddenly being abducted by an animatronic. It didn’t matter that you knew the animatronic in question. It didn’t matter that you were friends with them, or that you trusted them. Rumors of past incidents rushed to the front of your mind as you were dragged back.
Moon was so much bigger than you that he easily lifted you off of the floor. His metal body had a strength that no mortal human could match. He chuckled in your ear as you reflexively kicked your legs. All the while he kept his hand over your mouth to repress your shouts for help.
You were dragged away. Taken beyond the observation of the cameras, just as the time clock automatically clocked you out at the end of your shift.
Moon took you into the air, if only briefly, for the sake of dragging you to his and Sun’s shared room. All the while he ignored the tears rolling down your face as the panic set in.
You were dragged into the dark, cluttered space. The space where you anticipated that horrible things might come to befall you, because you had heard the stories of prior incidents with Moon.
Apparently, they hadn’t gotten rid of whatever glitch or virus it was that made him turn on people. That made him turn on his friends.
You clenched your eyes shut as he sat upon the ground. Your mind got away from you, picturing all of the painful things that he could do to your body. You were helpless as a doll in his hold. He could bend you and break you with ease.
But the pain never came.
He propped himself up upon the wall of his room. As his back pressed against the wall, he pulled you back. He propped you up against his chest. His hand never left your mouth. His arm never unwrapped itself from around your torso.
But his grip relaxed.
His grip relaxed and what sounded like a relaxed sigh escaped him. Your eyes slowly opened.
Moon wasn’t hurting you. His drastic change in attitude since getting you into his room implied that he had no intention of hurting you.
Still, your heart pounded in your chest.
The only light in the space came from his glowing red eyes. There wasn’t even enough light for you to see whatever it was he had in his room. You had never been in here before. Not alone or with either of them, because it was their space and you had been warned to keep out of it.
Yet here you were. Forcefully brought here in a terrifying manner. Just being held. Silently. The only sound in the space coming from the daycare music being played over the sound system.
The stillness and the silence lasted for a long time. Long enough that it became obvious when the Pizzeria had closed down.
Once all of the customers had left for the night, the lights flickered back on.
Once the lights flickered back on, you heard Moon transition back to Sun. The clicking of his solar rays springing from his head broke the silence. The motion of his hand as it began to caress your tear stained cheeks broke the stillness.
He sat forward and tightened his arm around your torso, pulling you into a tight hug.
You were still so stunned and confused that you couldn’t find your voice. Still, a few final tears spilled from your eyes as you closed them.
You relaxed into the hug.
Sun would never hurt you. You knew that. You felt so much safer now that he was the one in control.
A faint hiccup escaped you as you turned to hide your face in his arm.
You didn’t know why Moon had snatched you like that. But you knew that he had scared the life out of you. You knew that for a few minutes, you had genuinely feared for your life.
In those minutes, you were left pondering the depressing reality of how little it would matter if anything happened to you. How there would be no one around to mourn you. How your disappearance would just be swept under the rug, because there would be no one out there pressing for answers.
Sun gently shushed you as you began to quietly sob.
The fear was gone now. All that remained was that deep sense of worthlessness that generally only met you once you had gotten home.
That and the shame that you felt for letting that pain show in front of anyone.
Still, the animatronic attempted to comfort you. He held you close as he gently rocked himself.
“I’m sorry that we scared you.” Sun hummed, his chipper voice quieter than you’d ever heard it be. He leaned further to brush your cheek with his nose. He was trying to calm you down. Trying to comfort you.
Gradually you calm down. The gentle way that he held you and his soft humming reassured you.
You were safe. He wouldn’t hurt you.
He wouldn’t let anything hurt you.
“Wh-why?...” You eventually choke out. You still have no idea why Moon snatched you like that. You still have no idea why Sun is just holding you like this. You would have expected him to help you get down. For him to make sure that you could leave.
He pulled his head back ever so slightly. You locked your eyes with him. He almost seemed sad that you had even asked.
“We didn’t want you to leave.” Sun responded, his voice still quiet. He then leaned back down. Again, he began to nuzzle your cheek. But the nuzzling soon became kissing.
The contact sent chills running through your body.
It scared you. It scared you because you couldn’t tell for sure if you hated what he was doing, or if you wanted it.
It scared you because you shouldn’t want it.
Sun was an animatronic. He shouldn’t even behave like this.
Yet here he was kissing your cheek. Kissing your neck. Before you realized it, he had taken hold of your hand.
Then the lights flicked out again.
Fear momentarily spiked as you heard Moon reclaim control. He squeezed your hand as he felt the tremble roll through your body. But he continued where Sun left off.
He continued to pepper your neck with kisses.
“Don’t leave us. Never. Never!” Moon growled, his voice louder and more ominous than Sun’s. He didn’t sound threatening, per say, but still his tone scared you slightly.
There was a possessive tone in his voice.
The way he held you, it was obvious that he didn’t want you to escape him. He used his arm and legs as a cage, preventing you from slipping from his grasp.
What was strange was that you didn’t actually want to leave.
You had always hated having to leave at the end of your shift. You had hated going home to that empty building, where nothing waited for you but silence.
Intimidated as you were by Moon’s sudden possessive behavior, some part of you absolutely loved it. Some part of you desperately wanted to be wanted. You didn’t care if it was an animatronic or a human that wanted you. All that mattered was that you were wanted.
The way that Moon began to touch you, you knew that you were wanted.
It was nothing overly inappropriate, at the start. He kept hold of your hand as he kissed your neck.
Then eventually the hand that held your face began to move.
His fingers traced your throat. Your breath hitched at the feel of him caressing your neck.
He never squeezed. He never made a move to harm you. But the anxiety still crept back, if only for a moment. If only while his fingers teased what had to be the most vulnerable part of your body.
But his hand continued to trail down.
For as possessive and clingy as he was being, he didn’t touch you in any way that could be considered blatantly sexual. He didn’t grope your breasts as he trailed his hand down.
The most sexual he got, in that moment, was putting his hand under your shirt. But all he did was caress you. He traced little patterns on your abdomen or on your side. He held you firmly but he touched you gently.
It was as if he was trying to apologize for the terror that he had instilled into you when he brought you here.
You didn’t hate it.
The touching and the kissing didn’t stop when the lights flickered back on. The contact only paused momentarily as Sun regained control. But it never stopped. And it never stopped feeling possessive.
If anything, Sun somehow felt more possessive than Moon as he held you.
“Never leave...” Sun murmured, pulling his face from your neck so that he could bring his lips back to your cheek.
He kissed you once. His lips met the skin beneath your eye.
He kissed you twice. He found your cheek.
He kissed you thrice. His lips met the corner of your mouth, all the while avoiding your lips.
You turned to face him.
He let you initiate the fourth kiss, where his lips finally met your own. Chills ran up your spine at the contact. Good chills. Pleasant chills.
His touch grew more persistent in response to the kiss. You hadn’t reacted negatively or done anything to try and push him away. You had accepted his advances.
Now it seemed as if he fully intended to see how much you would let him do.
Admittedly, you wanted to see just how far he could take it.
You kissed him again. He deepened the kiss.
Why an animatronic had a tongue, you still didn’t understand.
Admittedly, you didn’t care. All that mattered was how good it felt when his tongue made its way into your mouth.
It wouldn’t exactly be wrong to say that he was forceful. But it wouldn’t exactly be right either.
Whenever you showed signs of hesitation, he backed off. When his tongue went too deep. When his hands held you just a little too tight. Any time you showed signs of distress, he would take a metaphorical step back to let you work your way back to him.
He allowed you to turn around so that you could face him.
In doing so, you wound up straddling him. You sat in his lap with your knees on either side of him. His hands never left your body as you moved. He went from caressing your stomach to caressing your back.
His fingers tickled you faintly. Completely unintentionally, at first. Still, he pauses as you pant against his lips.
You don’t quite laugh.
You don’t quite moan.
Your voice doesn’t know what to do, so the noise you make is a strange one. One that catches his attention through the haze of lust that has overtaken you both. When he pauses, you whine softly.
When his fingers begin to dance along your back, you whine louder.
He’s not quite tickling you, but it still tickles. Enough so that he coaxes a reluctant laugh from your lips.
A warm smile spreads across his features as he hears you laugh. Then a happy giggle escapes him.
He seems genuinely relieved to hear you laugh. You don’t get the chance to question his behavior. The lights flicker off again and Moon regains control.
He proves to be much, much less patient than Sun. He uses his hold on your back to pull you flush against him.
In an instant, you find yourself pinned beneath his body. That ominous red glint in his eyes shows off how possessive he is. It establishes fully what he intends to do to you.
In a stark contrast to Sun, he bends you to his will.
When Moon kisses you, he takes what he wants. When his tongue invades your mouth, it does so with purpose. He snakes his tongue into your throat to taste you fully.
The sensation is strange, but not unpleasant. He’s persistent, but he lets you breathe. In increments, at least.
He swallows your moans as his hands begin to roam your body. One of them, at least. He resumes caressing your abdomen with one hand while the other reclaims a partner. He gently squeezes your hand as he massages your throat from the inside with his tongue.
He breaks the kiss to let you breathe just as your vision begins to get spotty. Tears prick your eyes.
Not from pain.
Not from fear.
In the heat of the moment, you’re starting to get emotional. The way he touches you, you can tell he’s holding himself back. You can feel by the faint tremble of his fingers that he wants to do so, so much more to you.
In a surprisingly tender show of affection, Moon pauses to lightly kiss below your eye. A peculiar sound escapes him as he does so. Not quite a growl. Not really a groan. But you can tell what it means. The sight of your tears upsets him.
“No more tears.” Moon coos, his tongue darting past his lips to lick the tears from your cheek. “No more sadness.” He adds, bringing his mouth down so that he can resume kissing your neck. If he could pant, you imagine that he would be panting against your skin.
There follows a faint twinge of pain as his sharp teeth pierce the flesh on the side of your throat.
“No more being lonely. Only happiness here. With Sun. With me. All of us. Together. Forever.” His voice escapes him as a possessive growl as he bites you again, slightly harder than before. He proceeds to litter your neck and shoulder with all manner of small bites.
He marks you as his. All the while his hand sneaks into your clothes to touch you more intimately.
You can’t help but moan his name as his fingers find your most intimate place.
He touches you through your underwear.
Rubbing.
Pressing.
Caressing.
He makes you feel good all while denying you the most direct contact. Just because he wants to hear you whine. Just because he wants to feel you squirming underneath him.
You do just that. How could you hold still when his fingers were touching you so fervently? When his teeth were marking you so purposefully?
He claimed you as his possession while denying you what you so desperately craved.
Then the lights flickered back on again. Everything paused for just a moment as Sun regained control.
You foolishly anticipated that the biting might stop. But the opposite happened.
Moon’s antics must have flipped some sort of switch. Sun moved to litter the other side of your neck with marks.
His teeth were dull compared to Moon’s. So he never broke the skin. He effectively left hickeys all over you. All while he maintained that sweet friction between your legs.
His touch seemed so desperate.
The more you moaned for him, the more he touched you.
He wanted you. He needed you.
He needed to know for certain that you enjoyed what he was doing.
“Sun! Please!” You can’t help the plea that bursts past your lips.
The teasing.
The biting.
The touching.
All of it has worked you so, so close to orgasm. But you need that extra push. You need that extra contact.
Sun surprises you with the possessive growl that escapes him. He bites your neck hard as his fingers find their way into your underwear.
At last he touches you directly. His fingers find their way into you. With how slick you’ve gotten from the excitement of it all, there’s no issues there. He keeps his jaws clamped around the nape of your neck as he caresses you from the inside. He curls and presses his fingers in swift, firm motions.
It takes so little effort on his part to get you to make a mess of his hand. But he doesn’t stop moving his fingers as your climax hits. He continues to caress that sweet spot as you moan and tremble against him. All the while he sucks lightly on the freshly created bruise he’s left upon your neck.
Your mind has gone blank by the time he withdraws his fingers.
You’re a complete and utter mess. Neck covered in marks. Bruises and bites delivered by a possessive animatronic lover.
When Sun sits up and pulls away from you, a pathetic whine escapes your lips. He shushes you in response. Gently. As he offers a soft, affectionate smile.
“My sweet, sweet girl~” Sun coos, tugging at your pants to slide them off of you.
You tremble as the cold air hits your damp, heated skin. Your cheeks burn as you watch the trail of slick cling to your panties as they’re pulled away from your crotch. You really did make a mess. An embarrassing, needy mess.
“I’ll take good, good care of you. Just stay.” He purrs, sweetly begging for you to stay with him while shifting to lay on his stomach.
You tremble from the anticipation of it all as you watch him. He grabs some sort of pillow to help prop up your lower half as he makes himself comfortable.
His fingers wrap around your hips to hold you steady as he brings his mouth between your legs.
He kisses you, to start. You can’t hope to contain the moan that escapes you as his lips meet your clitoris.
He has no business being this good at what he’s doing. He has no business even knowing how to do this.
But he does. And you love every second of it as things continue.
His tongue brushes against you.
Slowly.
Sensually.
He moans at the taste of your arousal, locking eyes with you as he partakes of your nectar. He seems genuinely excited as his tongue begins to prod against you.
But the lights flicker out once more.
For a split second, you saw the desperation in his eyes as he realized that he was about to close control. But he didn’t fight it.
His mouth went still for a moment as Moon claimed control of their shared body.
You watch, admittedly anxious, as those red eyes flicker back on.
You feel the smirk that tugs at his lips as he assesses the situation.
He most definitely knew what was going on. But he almost seems surprised that he’s the one that’s in control.
Thinking back, the flickering of the lights is a bit odd. It's almost as if they intended on taking turns once they had you here. The flickering of the lights decided who would be in control and when.
“My turn now, Sunshine~” Moon growls, dragging his tongue between your folds. He moans hungrily as he does so, coaxing an excited tremble out of you.
Something tells you that there was a reason behind Sun being bothered by his loss of control. Whether or not that meant you were in danger, you had no idea.
Not at first.
Not until his tongue invaded your slick, waiting orifice.
He didn't wait. He didn’t hesitate.
A startled gasp escaped you as he pressed his tongue completely inside.
And he went in deep. Deeper than Sun’s fingers had dared to go.
Oh yeah. You understood now why Sun wanted to be the one to do this. He would have taken time to warm you up.
Moon, on the other hand, was impatient.
Impatient and greedy.
He sucked his tongue back into his mouth briefly to swallow your taste. Then he thrust his tongue back in. Then out. Then in.
Repeatedly.
To say that he fucked you with his tongue would be accurate. He mewled and growled against you as he worked his tongue. All the while a smirk tugged at his lips as he listened to the sweet noises you made in response to his attention.
This continued until he brought you to your next orgasm. At which point he licked you more persistently.
“Clean up~ Clean up~” Moon teasingly purred, lapping up the honey that seeped from within you.
Your moans only grew more pathetic as he did so.
When he finally withdrew his tongue and sat up, you were left trembling.
Goodness, he had done a number on you with that tongue of his. You knew it. He knew it.
Still, he felt the need to make sure.
You watched as he sat up to study the mess that he had made of you. You watched as he hungrily licked the corner of his mouth. As his eyes fixated on your twitching vulva.
He seemed to be very, very proud of himself.
You can’t help but hide your face behind your hands as he proceeds to spread apart your lower lips. You listen to him purr to himself as he studies your quivering body.
“Beautiful~” Moon growls, sneaking his fingers closer to your vulva to lightly tease your recently stretched orifice.
You try to repress the whine that escapes you as he playfully stimulates your body.
This only seems to entice more teasing.
He puts you down completely and pulls his hands away.
You peek out from behind your fingers to figure out what he’s doing.
“Oh...” You murmur, unable to hide the surprise in your voice as he begins to slide his pants down his hips.
At first, you aren’t quite sure what he’s doing. He doesn’t have anything in his pants.
Or so you thought.
A chuckle passes his lips as he lightly taps the metal covering his groin. You watch, completely stunned, as the metal opens. A piece of metal slides upwards, retracting into a hidden compartment to reveal a silicone interior.
He uses a finger to coax out the upgrade that you never realized he had.
A long tendril of a penis snakes its way out of that hidden chamber in his body.
You shudder as you stare at it. He smirks down at you as you do.
It’s big. Not so big that you don’t think it’ll fit, but God will it be a stretch.
Beyond that, it’s glowing. Beautiful neon blue.
The animatronic chuckles to himself as he shifts to let his erect piece rub between your folds.
You jump faintly at the contact. It felt cold, at first. But it quickly warmed up in response to the heat of your body. Still, you trembled as he began to teasingly grind against you.
It was so slick and smooth.
One wrong motion of his hips and he would slide inside so easily.
You began to pant under your breath as you watched him.
“Do you want this~?” Moon curiously purred, his smirk never leaving his face as he locked eyes with you. He continued to teasingly rub himself against your wetness as he attempted to coax the confirmation past your lips. “Do you want me~? Do you want me inside you~?” He added, his voice giving way to a quiet groan as he nearly slipped inside.
Your lip quivered as you began to mentally prepare yourself for what was to come. You had to work up the courage to give him a response.
But the lights flicked back on.
You heard the faintest of disappointed whines escape Moon as he had to relinquish control to Sun.
For a few seconds, everything went still. Those few seconds felt like absolute agony. There was an erect cock pressed flush between your folds. You felt the heat that it gave off.
You watched as the color shifted from blue to yellow.
Sun regained control of his body. He trembled faintly as he gained the ability to feel the heat of your body against him.
You could see it in his eyes. He desperately wanted to stick it in and fuck your brains out. But he held himself back.
He held himself back, if just barely.
“O-oh, Starlight~” Sun cooed, his voice escaping him as a needy groan as he moved his hands to caress your thighs. “Please~ Please~! Please~!” He begged.
You couldn’t tell if he was begging you for permission or if he was begging you to tell him that you wanted it. Either way, the result would be the same.
Your breath escaped you as a needy pant as you watched him, finding yourself feeling equally as desperate for him as he was for you.
“P-put it in~!” You manage to pant out, maintaining unwavering eye contact with him as the words escape your lips.
With those words you sealed your fate. Sun didn’t hesitate. He had no reason to. Moon had already gotten your body thoroughly prepared for what was to come.
One smooth motion of his hips was all it took for him to slip inside.
With an additional rock of his hips, he buried himself.
Not all the way. Your body wasn’t ready to handle the sheer size of him just yet.
Thankfully he had enough self control to prevent himself from accidentally hurting you.
Still, you moaned and groaned.
It felt good. Really, really good.
At the same time, there was no denying how your body strained to accommodate him. It stung, but in the best possible way.
“Starlight~” Sun panted that sweet little nickname as he began to roll his hips against yours.
He was slow. For your sake. For the sake of making sure you felt good.
He let go of your highs as his hands moved down to your hips. Then down to your sides. To your chest. Until finally he sought out your hands. Sun intertwined his fingers with yours as he continued to thrust into you.
Little by little, you opened up for him. Inch by inch, he sunk his way inside of you.
By the time he was able to bury every inch of himself in your body, he had managed to bring you to orgasm. He didn’t slow the movements of his hips as you spasmed around him.
Slow and steady.
He locked eyes with you as you climaxed. He maintained that eye contact as he worked himself to orgasm.
When he came, he came a lot. Enough that you could feel the thick, viscous fluid pool in your abdomen. Enough that he forced his artificial seed to spurt from within you as he continued to rock his hips.
You rode out your orgasms together.
Panting.
Euphoric.
Embarrassed.
Sun leaned to steal your lips in another kiss as he finally slowed the motions of his body. His tongue snuck its way into your throat briefly once his body went still.
The exhaustion hit you as he broke the kiss.
That was the third time that you had been brought to orgasm.
You were hot. You were tired. Aroused as you still were, you definitely needed something of a break.
For a moment, you feared that you might not be given that break. The lights flickered out once more.
Sun relinquished control to Moon once the space went dark.
A faint whine escaped you as he abruptly moved. With your chest heaving as hard as it was, you couldn’t speak. You couldn’t try to ask him to let you rest.
Thankfully, you didn’t need to.
Moon hummed erotically as he sat up and slowly slipped out of you.
You heard the suction of your body trying to hold him in. You whined quietly at the feel of Sun’s seed spilling out of your body.
Moon wrapped his arms around you to pick you up. He brought you to his chest and he shushed you gently as he began to rock his body.
You weren’t quite sure if Sun’s orgasm had satisfied him, or if he simply recognized your exhaustion and had to submit to his programming.
He was made to put people to bed, after all.
Put you to bed, he did. He carried your virtually limp body over to a pile of pillows and blankets.
He laid down upon the pile and had you lay atop him.
A blanket was pulled from the pile to be draped over your shivering body. You relaxed almost immediately. Safe and warm and wanted.
“Happy birthday, Sunshine~” Moon cooed, affectionately nuzzling the top of your head as he laid you down to rest.
Happy tears pricked at your eyes as you inevitably drifted off.
Safe in his arms. Warm beneath the blanket. Having been given the only birthday gift that you ever could have asked for.
A sense of belonging.
For the first time in a long time, you fell asleep happy. Happy because you had finally found someone who held you close to their heart. Happy because you were loved. Undoubtedly so.
The way Moon cradled you against him, that much was obvious. The events leading up to this moment had been the animatronics giving into their long repressed desires.
Desires to have you.
Desires to hold you.
Desires to keep you.
And you were happy to be kept.

Free-fall Chapter 1 (Sun/Moon x Reader)
Summary: You needed a job, any job that would overlook your lack of education or non existent ‘official’ work history. It just so happens that this job is the closest thing to home since your circus troupe went under. So what’s the big problem?
Authors note: Honestly this is just an idea I wanted to write for myself but I hope someone else enjoys it too! This is going to be a slow burn.
Fazbear Entertainment Company knew what their biggest problem was at the moment, it was practically glaring at them in the face daily as thousands of complaints and bad reviews rolled in. The problem was the daycare attendant.
Adults hated it, employees constantly quit because they refused to work with it, and more importantly the children it was programmed to take care of were frightened of it. Its sole design existed to appease children, to have nurturing and playful characteristics so the kids did not feel watched over but instead felt as if they were just having a play date. In theory, it should have worked but the idea of a lone animatronic, towering above everyone that encountered it along with the personality that mimicked that of a clown, it isn’t hard to see now where this idea had failed.
What were they to do about this issue, scrap him? No, they couldn’t do that, not only because of just how insanely expensive it was to build and the giant loss the company would take from that, but they also had to take into account its unique build that couldn’t easily be scrapped for parts for the other animatronics upgrades. Unlike the Glamrocks or simply just the S.T.A.F.F. Bots, their design is ten times more intricate. All of the ‘personality’ animatronics had the AI capability to learn but that’s where the similarities truly ended.
The daycare attendant was given a different type of endoskeleton, one that can give them more agility than the others. Soft padding was placed over the endoskeleton that would make it safe when children interacted with it, and it had twice the responsibility. As well as intricate programming that took years to write code for compared to any other of the animatronics to make sure child safety was its top priority. No, they couldn’t scrap it, they would be losing way too much.
So what were they to do about this situation? Easy. To figure out their next step all the company had to do was look at other large theme parks in the country. They had creepy mascots and characters too but with a difference, they were almost always accompanied by a handler. Sure the princesses and superheroes didn’t need a handler but they were human. The anthropomorphic costumes freaked out the children, but with a human handler escorting them around it brought a human touch back into it and helped relieve some of the creepy tension, making them more approachable, and ushering back in the cartoonish charm their designers were aiming for during their creation.
While the solution may have been an easy one to make, executing it was not as easy. It was hard finding someone willing to fill that role. Person after person entered the interview, seemingly excited about the job, but then they would meet it for the first time.
They made sure to have each interview end with a little meet and greet with Sun, as opposed to Moon whom they correctly guessed would scare the potential hires off even quicker, but each meeting ended the same way regardless. One right after the other the interviewees raced out the door once they reached the meet and greet portion, even the ones who swore up and down that no matter what they were desperate for the job.
Week after week they continued the arduous process of interviewing candidates, a few even made it to on-the-job training. There were even some impressive candidates they thought would fill the role perfectly due to their previous job experience as performers and theme park handlers. As always though before they could officially hire anybody they all walked out, leaving the company to start the process of interviews all over again.
Eventually, they landed on your resume. A small single page compared to some of the larger or more impressive resumes they started with, but at this point, they can’t be too picky. The resume lacked any schooling or degrees and it listed only a few jobs that all consisted of waitressing at different establishments. Then they read the very last line and practically had dollar signs in their eyes as they realized that they just struck gold, you had worked ten years in a circus troupe.
They just found their golden candidate who could not just assist but also be a true star of the show alongside their animatronic, and they would not let this candidate slip away so easily.
They pulled out all the stops for your interview, or at least as much as the corporation would realistically allow. So when you arrived at the interview they offered you a large array of beverages like soda, water, coffee, or juice before whisking you off towards a conference room. Usually, most of your interviews have been in the back of some dingy restaurant manager's office, in bleak windowless rooms that suffocated you with their musk, or even just at the front of the restaurants in one of the booths with disinterested-looking men reading off questions in a monotonous tone. It may have been just a cheap gesture to give the illusion that they care more even though it was the bare minimum of schmoozing but regardless you were ashamed to say it was kind of working.
After months of panicking about bills, barely avoiding eviction, a few dodgy days without electricity, and the hundreds of wasted hours spent on interviews that went nowhere you had to admit it was kinda nice to experience these little luxuries. A small part was even just giddy as you sat down in the nice wide wooden chairs that had plump padding on the seat that made it so much more comfortable to sit on than hard plastic. Plus the windows were open letting in a nice warm breeze that just filled your heart with happiness.
You knew the men sitting across you had fake smiles plastered across their faces as they reached across to shake your hand before you sit down across the wide table from them. You pushed aside the thought as your day brightened up even more as they pushed a box of doughnuts over to you that you immediately took to make up for your lack of breakfast.
“So to start off we just have to ask you,” The middle man across the table started with a wide grin as you shoved another doughnut in your mouth “Ten years in the circus?”
“Mmhm” You mumbled out around your delicious sugary treat, “Joined when I was around twelve."
“Perfect! We really think you would be a nice fit for this position as the animatronic handler. You see we have had some slight issues with staff getting along with it but nothing to worry about especially with your background. It kinda acts like, well, um, fellas how would you describe it?” He motions to the men on either side of him as they each quip up with their own descriptions.
“A jester?” One offers up as the main man hums in agreement.
“Yes! Like a clown, it’s very clown like I would say.” The other man jumps in.
“Exactly, thank you, gentlemen. It’s a bit unnerving for most people but I am quite positive someone with your background will do just fine with that creepy stuff. I’m sure you worked with plenty of horrifying creeps and freaks, am I right?” His smile has yet to waver and the mocking laugh he ends his question with along with the other men following suit with their own degrading laughs is starting to get on your nerves.
The charms of the little gifts and pleasantries have started to wear off. Now it's much easier to see them as not nice or charming but as salesmen. These are professional salesmen whether their job descriptions are actually public relations, business manager, etc. Their jobs were to sell their company and right now their job was selling this position to you which they openly admitted they were having problems with.
Their first big mistake was thinking you would laugh along with their jokes about the other performers you spent a decade with. The second was thinking you couldn’t see right through them, sure you accepted the treats, but you knew you held the power. Their third and most damming mistake was it. They kept referring to their animatronic as it.
You’re not sure why that two-letter word was digging its way into your skin every time they said it but it did. You knew this company, or at least you knew the restaurant and thus the animatronics inside of it. They all seemingly had personalities, big ones at that, and smart A.I. that they took every chance to brag about on the news as their PR team truly worked overtime for the company. The way they spoke about their animatronic as an object turned the energy in the room slowly, prickling your skin. Taking a deep breath you pushed your concerns aside to reply.
“Um yea it won’t be a problem, and I wouldn’t say they were creepy at al-“
“Perfect, see I just knew you would be a perfect fit for this role.” He rudely interrupts you again. “With your background, we would also like to change up the position a bit from handler to performer. You would still accompany it and do the normal job but start offering some fun performances with you and the animatronic on top of the normal job. Of course, we will offer a bit more money to your salary for this as well so don’t worry about that.”
“Oh.” You were shocked, you never made it to a full-fledged performing role in your circus trope as by the time it shut down you were still an apprentice.
You had been training and filling in roles but had yet to become a full-time performer in your own right. You did have the specialties you were working towards more like acrobatics and trapeze work but despite how good you got you never did it solo, without your trusted mentors by your side to correct you.
“If you sign on with us today you’ll start up as just the basic handler until we have our lawyers look over the specialty contract you’ll need for the type of work we want you to do.” He ends by turning to the other men to point to their papers and talk about notes as he thinks about contracts.
You let them drone on as you were swept up in the nostalgia of your family at the circus that you missed dearly. Part of you wanted this opportunity, a chance to feel the overwhelming joy you had used to receive while entertaining crowds of people and more importantly the bright smiles you brought to children. Your head was swimming as you thought through everything, mind contemplating every angle of this new opportunity. You originally just wanted a job but now the perfect job has seemed to just fall into your lap, but nothing in your life was ever quite that easy.
For starters you did not become a full-fledged performer, how could you suddenly jump from apprenticing to doing full-blown shows, especially without your troupe behind you to encourage and support you? You weren’t sure you were ready for that responsibility, and the fact employers of the company so openly mocked your previous profession and friends in front of you made your skin crawl. You doubt they would take the proper precautions when it came to the big performances you were used to.
This shouldn’t be a hard decision though, right? You need a job, that makes money, to pay your bills, and not lose your shitty apartment. This job just so happens to involve the things you love most in the world, performing and making children happy. Something wasn’t quite right though, and your anxiety was not making it any better. Your head was racing as thoughts all shouted out across your mind debating every angle possible and you were sure your body was frozen in front of the men. From what little you could focus on outside your brain it doesn’t seem as though the men have even noticed your situation as they talked among themselves.
“Well then,” The middle man's sharp clap of his hands jolted you back in “We don’t really need to go over too much for the interview part, instead we would love to jump ahead to introductions to see how that all goes.”
Before you could respond they got up and started escorting you to a door connected to the conference room. They were talking more about the job on the short walk but you’re mind was elsewhere. As you reached out to open the handle the main man grabbed onto your wrist, another shock running through you at the suddenness.
His face was still plastered with a saccharine smile but his eyes were filled with fear. Funnily enough, this bizarre smile filled with horror was a rather familiar sight to your eyes from the array of faces in the crowd of shows you would take mental snapshots of for your internal emotions scrapbook.
“Just picture it as a clown, ok? And don’t turn off the lights.” He backs up and releases his grip on your arm. "You'll do great kid, we know you got this."
Your eyes scrunch together as you watch the gaggle of grown men in suits squirm with discomfort at even the thought of what lies beyond the door. Sure you never saw Sun or Moon in person before but you've seen them plenty on the near-constant commercials or news broadcasts praising their technology. They weren't even scary if memory serves you right, you knew plenty of scarier-looking clowns, and they were always the most down-to-earth and kindest people you knew.
Rolling your eyes you slowly open the door, yelling at yourself internally as your body reacted to their fear causing you to sharply inhale as you enter. Just as you remember him, the bright yellow animatronic sat on top of a table in the conjoining conference room. Well maybe not quite as you pictured, he was much bigger and taller than you ever imagined he would be. You could only imagine how colossal he was next to the children.
His head swayed back and forth as he swung his long legs in front of him while humming. It doesn't appear that he has noticed your presence yet. You carefully try to close the door behind you to give you some relief from the sharp watch of the men in the doorway, anxiously awaiting some sort of reaction. Try as you might, the large door still let out a loud bang when it clicked closed.
You turn just in time to watch Sun jerk and jump off the table to back up while curling his arms around himself anxiously. Your mouth pulls in guilt as you watch him.
"Hello, fri-" He starts to shout out with an arm raised out to you before he pulls it back with his other and curls his palm against his faceplate. "Sorry, sorry. You have to be good sun, you have to behave sun."
He mutters out the latter more to himself as you watch with furrowed eyebrows. He is shifting his weight side to side, seemingly locked in a sort of loading screen moment, and his limbs start to raise like he figured out his next move before pulling back again.
"It's Sun, right? My name is Y/N." You start approaching slowly to not frighten him further.
You can't be sure what this poor animatronic had been through but clearly, it wasn't good if the degrading mutters under his breath were any indication. He doesn't respond, still stuck like a broken record player, so you try repeating your question a little bit louder. He notices this time and his face slowly raises to tilt his head at you.
"Yes, yes, yes. You can call me Sun, or Sunny, or Sundrop, or Sunbeam, or-" He starts to ramble on a million different variations of nicknames while nodding frantically, and you laugh knowing you'll have to cut him off if you'll ever get him to stop.
"Ok let's stick with Sunny, I think it's a super cute name." You smile brighter once you see his rays twirl around his head at your statement.
He rushes closer, again you scold yourself at the sharp gasp you let out at just how quickly he crosses the room, and his hand softly grasps onto yours in between you two.
"Yes! I would like that very very much. Does this mean we are going to be friends?"
"Definitely, especially if I come to work with you, Sunny." You delight in the way his plush fingers feel as you grip them but he slowly pulls his hands away and curls his hands up to his chest.
"Oh, that's right. Job, job, it's all about the job Sun. Don't scare the employees' Sun. Don't mess this up again Sun. You can't be trusted Sun. They can be trusted Sun, not you Sun." He starts pacing around again, hands wringing together and clawing at his chest as you try to wrap your head around what is happening.
"Sunny?" You're watching him closely, heart sinking at the way his voice box becomes more staticky as he desperately chokes out his words.
"I promise I'll be good. I won't be scary or too loud or too clingy or too much. I promise." He sounds so soft and sad as he curls his limbs in more to make himself look smaller.
"Who told you those things Sunny?" You have to gulp back the emotion building in your throat as you watch him.
His face turns slightly to look at the door behind you and you quickly connected the dots that apparently management truly only sees them as objects to verbally degrade when things aren't working for the bottom line. Your fists clench and pop in your anger and you take in a heavy breath to calm yourself.
You have felt angry plenty of times. You sure felt angry when small-minded locals would come through and terrorize your troupe. You felt angry every time you were denied entry-level work without even being given a chance. This anger though was something akin to the reason you left your original life behind in the first place.
"Sunny those guys," You motion behind your shoulder and firmly grip his hands in yours. "Are assholes. All those workers who treated you badly were assholes. Fuck them."
"LANGUAGE!" He quickly screeched out and you wince a bit as his hands reflexively gripped yours harder.
His eyes flex wider as he hears his loud voice bounce around the room and he jumps away from you to cower as he watches the door handle turn.
"Is everything-"
"We're fine" You quickly bite out and look over your shoulder to stare the man down.
He takes a moment to look over at Sunny as he hesitates in the doorway but nods and closes the door again. You inhale deeply to calm yourself and slowly kneel down next to Sun's crumpled form against the wall.
"Sunny? It's ok they won't bother you, I promise."
"No no no, I screamed at you. I'm not supposed to scream." He shakes his head repeatedly and refuses to look at you.
"No no it's ok Sunny, I deserved that. I spent most of my life surrounded by foul-mouthed carnies. I guess I have some bad habits I need to work on." You laugh trying to break the tension.
Your smile grows softer as you see him look up at you but he doesn't speak up again. You let the silence linger on a bit as he calms down and think about any way you can help him out. You trail your eyes down his outfit and get a bit lost as you take in all the intricate details and patterns. His pleated peplum brought back vivid images of familiar fabrics and the lightbulb in your brain goes on.
"Hey, would you like to see a little trick I can do?"
His head tilts in response but watches you very attentively so you take that as a yes.
"Ok, uhm, hmm." You hum as you search around the room to find anything hand-sized. "Ah ha!"
You crawl across the floor a bit to grab three different erasers from the sill of the whiteboards mounted on the wall. You shuffle your way back over and lean up onto your knees as his head shifts side to side as he watches you.
Your hands clasp onto the erasers as you try to find a good grip. You throw up the first, positioning to throw the second but fumble as you get used to their square shape as opposed to the round balls you were used to. You try to start up again but fumble once more and the erasers fall onto the ground. How professional you grumbled in your mind, getting a bit embarrassed over your rusty skills.
"Shit." You quickly spit out as you lean down to snatch them but your eyes widen as you realized you slipped. "Fuck, I mean shit, ahh sorry! I am so sorry I promise I'll get better."
You look up at Sunny apologetically but he chuckles while shifting to sit more relaxed against the wall. "It's ok, keep going."
You hum as he seems to be relaxing around you. You're happy to be the clown for once if it means he cheers up. With a steadying breath, you start back up again and manage to juggle the erasers.
He leans forward while cooing, faceplate approaching closer to the arch's range to watch your hands shuffle, toss, and catch the small objects. You only do a few rotations before letting them drop, not even bothering to attempt to hold them all at once again.
He immediately starts clapping his hands once you finished your little performance and you giggle while playfully bowing. “Oh thank you, thank you so much!”
“That was amazing!” He starts bouncing in front of you and scoots closer to pick up the erasers to try tossing them himself.
“Oh, that was nothing but a party trick, you should have seen the real jugglers I worked with. They could throw anything. Knives, bowling balls, lamps. Actually, now that I think about it, you could probably toss like three of me.” You joke, pushing towards his metal arms that don’t budge a bit with your nudge.
“Yes, teach me! You have to teach me, please please please.” His head spun again, and your heart warmed at how happy he was when he was at ease.
“Absolutely, we will have plenty of time during work for me to teach you.”
"So that means you'll work with us?" He quits down again and sits still as he waits for your answer.
"That depends, will you let me work with you knowing I have a sailor's mouth? I promise I will do my best to work on it, and I swear I am great at not slipping in front of children so you don't have to worry about that."
"You.. you want to know if we want to work with you?"
"Of course, you guys have been the ringmasters of the daycare from day one. I respect the chain of command."
He shifts in front of you in thought, his hands clasping each other as he thinks. You can tell he is clearly conflicted and you wouldn’t blame him a bit with what has been happening to him.
“What do you want Sunny?”
“What do I want?” He looks confused and distracts himself by running his fingers along the bumpy ridges of the eraser in his hand.
“Yeah, I mean I would completely understand if you don’t want another coworker after the way you have been treated. I wouldn’t even blame you if you didn’t want to share the spotlight and perform with me. I just want you to be happy, and I want someone to give you a choice for once.”
“I, we want you to work with us. Please I promise I’ll be good!” His shoulders scrunch up as he curls back down and you sigh. This was a start but you knew it would take a lot more time and reassurances to get him to fully trust you.
“And I promise,” You slowly take his hands back in yours and purposeful stare at him. “That I will try my best not to swear, I promise I will always try to do my best, and most important I promise I will always respect you.”
His smile grew more as his inner cheeks pinched and he quickly pounced forward to loop you into a large hug. You are a bit surprised at just how soft he is to hug and find yourself happily nuzzling in. You can feel the soft whir of his internal fans spinning and find it as soothing as a box fan in the window during summer nights.
“Yes! I want that, we want that, please be our friend!”
“I think we are going to be really good friends Sunny.” You hum against his chest, feeling his fingers curl into your back.
You don’t want to leave him, especially now that you are terrified to imagine what goes on between management and him behind closed doors. But you had power, they were desperate and you knew the request your mind has been brewing up would be quickly granted. Reluctantly you pull yourself out of his arms and try not to frown at the sad head tilt he gives you.
“Sorry bud, I gotta go deal with those as-meanie butts.” Your lips pull as you catch the small slip but correct yourself. “See I told you I would try.”
His smile grows even wider if that’s even possible for him and doesn’t seem to be bothered by the mention of the men again which you are grateful for. Instead, he pats the top of your head softly, running his hand down your hair with each pet.
“You are doing so good new friend! I know you’ll get it one day, and I’ll be there with you every day to help!”
As you shift to lift up he places his hands in yours and gives you a small boost. You say a soft ‘thank you’ under your breath and dust off your knees. You take one last meaningful look at the animatronic you’ve sworn to be friends with. You can’t go back now and deny the job you were on the fence about. You still had your reservations but they were all swept away by Sunny.
Even now as he smiles at you there is something so fragile about him, ironically. You can’t help but feel like you're staring up at a much taller version of yourself a decade ago. You didn’t understand the full picture but you didn’t need to so you could understand that emotion. That burning emotion that tore your life apart.
This time though your metaphorical younger self didn’t have to be alone. Everyone made you feel like a burden, that you couldn’t do anything. They all thought you needed help like everyone thinks Sunny needs help. You both needed help but not in the way anyone cared to understand. You needed hope, you needed someone to stand up for you.
You will be that person for them now.
You give a small wave to Sunny as you back up towards the door, turning to open the door but stopping as your hand makes contact with the handle. You didn’t want to leave him alone, but if all goes well it will just be a night. You could do this.
“Hey Sunny?” You turn to look at him and he hasn’t moved an inch from where you last left him.
“Yes, friend?”
“Thank you, and let Moon know that I am excited to work with you both.” Your fingers twirl around your sleeve deciding whether or not you’ll add the next part swirling in your mind.
“I will be back, I promise.” You finally whisper out, skin crawling a bit at the vulnerable tone of your voice.
To break that crippling feeling of vulnerability you shoot out finger guns toward him. He surprises you with his quick improv and immediately dances around to miss being hit by your imaginary bullets. You both giggle and you can only wish that you have given him enough hope to cling onto when you’re gone.
You wave again and walk out the door, managing to close it softer this time. The men looked like they also haven’t moved an inch and are all looking at you expectantly. Just seeing their dumb fear-filled eyes brings the rage boiling back up but you steady your breath to not fuck up this opportunity.
“So where do I sign?” You speak up knowing they don’t dare to ask and risk spooking their golden candidate.
“Excellent! See I just knew you would do per-“
“I have one stipulation.” You seize your chance to interrupt him as he has done nonstop to you. “I really need a job, so I will be signing on to start tomorrow.”
“Well, well, well. Quite the little go-getter. I see that and all of us here at the F.E.C very much respect the work ethic.” He snaps to the man on his right and gets handed the clipboard with the contract.
He takes the pen attached to the clipboard and manually scribbles in what you assume is the start date and flips it around while holding out the pen to you. “Sign right on that line.”
The simple line felt so similar to the dangerous walk of the tightrope but with the same courage you took your life back with you grabbed hold of the pen and signed the dotted line.

Observation Duty
Tumblr media
“You said your eyes are everywhere, huh?”
Your question is met with silence.
Now, if you had been looking down at him instead of facing the ceiling, you’d have caught the brief image of your living room security cam footage as it flashed across the screen of his faceplate. You’d have seen the moment you tripped playing on a sped up loop over and over, your knee hitting the table’s corner, your body hitting the floor, laundry falling and dog food scattering just to rise back up unnaturally as the footage plays again in reverse.
You weren’t looking down though, you weren’t looking anywhere at all- and so you missed it completely, thinking nothing of his silence and continuing to talk to the ceiling.
“So… what, you just enjoy watching me do chores?”

Seeking distraction from the work weighing on your mind, you start a little play-argument with the tetchy automaton currently hogging your couch. It soon evolves into a verbal dance, skirting around some heavier topics that threaten to trip up the both of you as your conversation moves too quickly for this listless afternoon.
As usual, he takes all of your antics in stride. Well… mostly. Kinda.
Look- he’s trying, okay?

The light of the screen in front of you burns into your tired eyes. Your focus is waning, your mind preferring to wander instead to how badly you’re craving an afternoon coffee. Sighing, you push yourself away from your desk, leaning back into the chair as its wheels roll with the momentum. Bumping into the wall behind you with a soft thud, you slump in your seat, staring with unfocused eyes at nothing in particular.
A few deep breaths and a short-lived moment of empty-headed bliss later, you remove your glasses and rub your eyes with the knuckles of your curled fingers. Digging your heels into the floor and dragging your chair forward again, you place your glasses on the desk, and note the time. You’ve been in the office for several hours at this point, and if you stay much longer you’re willing to bet a certain Sun-themed bot will be beating down your door demanding that you take a break. So, after double-checking that your work is saved, you put your PC to sleep. Standing and reaching for the ceiling as you stretch, you grimace at the cracks from your back and shoulders.
Making your way out of the room and down the hall, you round a corner, entering the living room. The blackout shades are down, all lights off save for the soft yellow glow coming from a small lamp in the corner. The bright afternoon sun is peeking its way through the edges of the windows that the shades don’t quite cover.
Moon would likely complain about how “dark and sad” it looks if he were in here, but you don’t see him. You figure he might be in the kitchen, or outside charging, maybe. Regardless, if he isn’t here to bother Sun about his “depressing” lighting choices, you will in his stead.
The robot has situated himself across the length of your couch, which is quite a feat considering the thing is honestly just a glorified loveseat and even you can’t lay on it comfortably. For being as large as they are, their flexibility makes up for it, allowing Sun and Moon to be genuinely impressive in their ability to fit into relatively small spaces. You try not to mentally pat yourself on the back for the role you played in that ability.
This isn’t about you anymore.
The soft white glow coming from his screen is enough to illuminate the pages of the book in his hands, and from what you can see of it you think you recognize the cover as being the one you were telling them both about last night as you were falling asleep.
…Cute.
You smile, leaning against the wall as you speak up.
“Y’know, my parents used to always nag me about my bad habit of reading in the dark. It seems I’ve somehow passed that trait along to you.”
Sun hums, tone soft and dismissive, and doesn’t pull his gaze away from the book when he speaks.
“It’s not dark, the lamp’s on.”
One black silicone fingertip lifts the corner of the right page, gently pulling it across and splaying his hand out to flatten the book down again. You note how the width of his fingers span beyond both edges of the book. It almost looks too small in his hands, but then again… most things do.
“Besides, I can see just fine in the dark. The lamp is for you.”
Well, he’s not wrong.
There’s humor in your voice, speaking as you push up off the wall and make your way across the room towards him. “Yes, and I do appreciate you leaving me enough light to get around by.”
You cautiously perch behind him on the right arm of the couch, careful not to get your loose clothes caught on any of his protruding rays. You’re aware that in his eyes, you’re clumsy enough even with the lights on, let alone trying to navigate in the almost-dark. Given that, you aren’t sure if it’s truly his disdain for bright lights, or simply his desire to see you struggle that drives him to keep the areas he occupies dimly lit.
Looking down at the coffee table, a recent memory surfaces and you frown.
“Speaking of navigating in the dark… my knee still hurts from slamming it into the corner of the coffee table last week, you know?”
From your position behind him you can’t see how his display shifts from its soft, blank white, his digital approximation of facial features materializing only to shift into a grimace. You do hear the shift in his tone of voice, although you can’t quite name what it is. Exasperation? Or… concern?
“I know. I’m surprised it didn’t bruise.”
“Well, you know me, I have to take quite a hard hit for my skin to really show it.” You think for a moment, and add onto the statement, muttering mostly to yourself but his hearing catches it all the same. “Which has always been odd to me considering how easily my skin scars…”
He hums a little bit in acknowledgment, trying not to think too hard about your various scars and how you got them. “Well, from the sound you made when it happened I thought you’d really injured yourself.”
Your voice takes on a playful tone of offense. “I am injured! It hurt!” You reach down and gently press over the spot that hurts the most, unable to resist the urge to poke the non-existent bruise through the plush fabric of your lounge pants. You murmur to yourself as much as to Sun, “...and it’s still sore...”
His body releases air in semblance of a sigh, lowering the book to his lap. Still looking down at it while he speaks, his tone is a mixture of teasing and I-told-you-so. “While it may have been semi-dark in here when it happened- I’m not taking the blame for it. Things like that just happen when you run around doing three things at once.”
A small surprised laugh escapes you. “How do you know what I was doing, huh?” You reach out and carefully run a fingertip along the edge of his top ray. “You weren’t even in the room, silly.”
His rays twitch slightly but he doesn’t retract them much as his faceplate slowly tilts back, stopping at an impossible angle for any human and finally making eye contact with you, albeit upside-down. “My eyes are everywhere, doll.”
His tone is something you’d call playfully threatening and you hold his steady gaze for a long moment before eventually blinking and glancing away, conceding to a contest you could never win.
It’s cute when he tries to be scary.
A half-smile on your face, you dismiss his attempt to unsettle you. Halloween is next month. “Mhm. I’m sure they are.”
From your peripheral vision you watch his expression falter, his yellow eyes flickering to red just briefly before he speaks. “You were carrying a bowl filled with dog food in your left hand, fresh laundry from the dryer was hanging off both of your shoulders, and you were wiping down the coffee table with your favorite brown towel in your right hand. All at once. While cursing.”
You throw a confused look at him that he ignores in favor of continuing to reprimand your past actions. “You’re incapable of doing one thing at a time, aren’t you? Truly reckless behavior, you know. That’s how people get hurt.”
You let out a put-upon sigh. He’s not wrong, but you don’t want to admit it yet.
Time for a diversion, then.
“Hey, I can multitask! I built both of you at the same time and it turned out alright, didn’t it?”
For a moment, the room is absolutely silent as you both process what you just let slip. You’re about to rush to correct yourself when Sun beats you to it, speaking up.
He laughs at first, soft and a little dismissive.
“Not quite the same thing, sunshine.”
Alright, well… it seems he’s less bothered by the reminder than you thought he’d be. That, or he’s getting better at hiding his true feelings, which is a whole other issue you’ll have to tackle if that’s the case.
You cock your head to the side. Might as well play into it, then.
“No? How so?”
His eyes flicker to red, and this time they stay that way as his faceplate turns, click-click-clicking and stopping when it’s done a 180 so he can look at you properly.
Oh. He’s not smiling.
On second thought, maybe you shouldn’t push the topic.
“You designed us, doll. You didn’t build us, and you didn’t do it alone. You had a whole team behind you.”
Not breaking eye contact with you, Sun’s left hand that had been cradling the open book in his lap closes in an instant. A sudden, sharp clap resounds in the room as a result of the book folding closed so harshly in his grip. You internally grimace at the way it makes you flinch.
Your eyes flick from the book held tight in his grip, to his faceplate, watching his expression fade until his display is completely black. Any attempts at appearing somewhat humanoid thrown out the window, he releases a breath of hot air through his vents as you stare into the void of his screen. You know he’ll likely elaborate if you give him the space to do so, so you take a deep breath of your own, and wait.
It’s always somehow so much more unnerving to hear him speak when his “face” is gone, but you hang onto his every word regardless. You’re not gonna look away from something- someone you made.
“Besides, let’s not forget that even with a whole team of humans, you still managed to fuck up some… aspects… of the project.” Having dropped the comforting illusion of his false eyes, his faceplate tilts, a small, sudden, sharp movement so his ocular sensor can stare directly at you. “Didn’t you?”
Your stomach drops at the realization of what he’s referencing. At least… you think you know. Honestly, there’s an entire list of things that happened back in the facility that they have every right to resent you for.
You’re not sure what to say anymore. There really aren’t any magic words that can make it better. You hurt them. You all did. End of argument.
The realization must be obvious on your face, because his screen soon switches back to his default expression and he seems quite pleased with himself for about ten whole seconds. Then as quickly as it came, the expression he wears shifts into one of hesitation, frustration, and then finally- worry? Maybe? At this point it’s getting hard to tell what the hell he’s feeling, if you ever could.
“Sun… I… I don’t-”
You manage to hold his gaze as you stumble in search of the right words, watching his expression morph from one emotion to the next until his right hand moves, and your eyes immediately flick towards the motion. Your gaze drags up his arm as slowly, his shoulder joint rotates enough to allow him to reach all the way behind him- towards you- hand reaching out to gently cup your right cheek.
You don’t lean away. You won’t.
You dig your nails into the fabric of the couch. His thumb slips under the edge of your jaw as his fingers splay across the side of your head, and you can feel the slight pressure as his thumb lays against your carotid artery.
He doesn’t speak at all this time but from past experience, your mind easily fills in the words he usually says to you as he does this.
Deep breath in. Hold it. Let it out slowly.
You know what he’s doing, and you let him. It’s far from the first time he’s done it.
His mixed expression doesn’t change, his hand doesn’t move, and the silence drags on until you can’t take it anymore. Your voice shakes but you push past it to get the words out.
“I… I swear to god- Sun- like I’ve said before, if I’d’ve had any clue that you two were alive back then-”
You’re forced to squint as his entire screen suddenly flashes, solid white, red, black, repeating several times. His grip on your cheek tightens just slightly. A warning of sorts, if you had to guess. It shuts you up fast and he hisses out an irritated “Don’t.”
Confusion is written on your face and without thinking, you open your mouth to insist on your apology.
His thumb immediately slips under your chin, pressing your mouth closed with such a slow, gentle motion contradicting his current demeanor that it practically gives you whiplash. As soon as your mouth is closed his thumb slips right back to its prior position over your pounding pulse, and his display fades back down to solid black.
“Stop talking. It fucks up my readings when you speak.”
Your brow furrows in frustration at first, but you do what he asked, and what you’re good at. You sit there with him in the quiet and focus on your breathing as the sounds of his cooling system kick up a notch.
The seconds feel like they drag on for ages due to the way you focus on them, but in reality it’s only about three minutes later that he finally seems satisfied with the readings he took as he slowly retracts his hand from your head. The black void of his faceplate slowly lights up again, albeit he’s replaced his default expression with something more akin to a… dynamic wallpaper- yellow smoke billowing across a dark screen.
Whatever suits him, you suppose.
Folding his hands together over the book in his lap, he finally speaks, his tone low and unhappy but not angry, really.
“Your HRV is low and your RHR is high.”
Your response comes out sounding more dismissive than you mean for it to.
“Yeah, they usually are. Nothing new, unfortunately.”
Sun’s body tenses a bit and his rays retract slightly in response. He releases another hot breath through the vent at the base of his neck and you can feel the warmth on your thigh through the fabric of your pants. He speaks again, voice slightly strained.
“That’s my point. You need to relax, and talking about the past isn’t helping you do that right now. So just… drop it.”
You want to point out that he could stand to take his own advice, but you bite your tongue instead. He’s right, after all. You do need to relax. You both do, what with the two of you walking around ready to snap most of the time. In spite of that though, he’s doing his best to deescalate the situation and you ought to follow suit.
The lack of Moon’s calming presence is painfully obvious during times like these, but the two of you ought to be able to make it through one damn conversation without needing his assistance. You laugh a little to yourself, unamused but wearing half a smile nonetheless, shaking your head at the thought. As much as he’d hate to admit it, even Sun knows that the three of you work best when you’re all together, balancing each other out.
You sigh, and let yourself flop against the back of the couch, stretching your right arm out across the length of it. Sun’s invisible gaze follows you as his faceplate tilts on its axis and rotates to remain facing you. You note the way he’s letting his neck gently rest against your right thigh.
Leaning your own head back and closing your eyes in defeat, you speak towards the ceiling.
“Okay, fine, you’re right. I’ll drop it.”
You drum your fingertips along the fabric of the couch in thought, before adding, “...And… maybe... I was doing too much at once, when I hurt my knee on the coffee table last week.”
He lets out a little hum of agreement.
Still, if he thinks he’s fully won this silly little argument he’s got another thing coming. You’ve definitely still got a counterpoint. Counter… question? Whatever.
He chuckles in response, and the vibrations from the sound tickle your outer thigh, causing the muscles there to twitch involuntarily. You cringe at your body’s sensitivity, but Sun thankfully doesn’t react.
Begrudgingly, you open your eyes and crane your head back up, bringing your right hand up off the couch to lean on. You pull your left leg up towards yourself at the same time, heel propping up on the arm of the couch. Curling toward your right, you realize you’ve inadvertently wrapped your body around his head, which is all but resting in your lap at this point. His rays are mostly retracted by now and the display on his faceplate has shifted once again, yellow clouds still billowing across black but he’s allowed parts of his expression to return, pale white eyes emerging from the smoke.
His face is otherwise unreadable as he finally responds to you. “My priority is keeping you safe. How can I do that if I can’t see you?”
You can’t help but scoff a little at that. “Safe? You were- apparently- watching me, and still let me trip on one of Zero’s toys and slam my knee into the table.”
At that, his mouth returns and he frowns at your tone, and so do you, realizing that you came across a bit more accusatory than you meant to. A beat passes where you both just stare at each other, and his voice is a lot softer when he speaks again.
“Was I not by your side within seconds after the fall, checking you for injuries?”
He was, and you know it. He was on you inhumanly fast, cradling your head like you’d fallen off a ladder or something and not just tripped and fell to your hands and knees on plush carpet. He’s a worrier and you know it damn well, even if he’d rather be decommissioned than admit to it.
Unfortunately, you never learned how to let yourself accept help, nor how to stop being stubborn in a stupid argument that you started yourself. “...Yeah. I guess. But you still could have offered to help before I tripped.”
He rolls his eyes before they land back on you, fixing you with a look that’s unexpectedly soft. In stark contrast, his voice comes out strained. “I was trying not to hover, sunshine.”
Your eyes flick away from his, always unable to maintain the sustained contact once things got a little too serious.
He keeps talking regardless.
“I know you. You would have been like- ‘Oh, no, I’ve got it! Don’t even worry about it!’ and wouldn’t have let me help even if I did offer.”
You scoff before leveling him with an unamused stare. “Oh, I do not sound like that. Shut it.”
He’s wearing a neutral expression but you notice as it shifts slightly, a hint of satisfaction at having gotten under your skin beginning to make itself known. You watch the hint of emotion begin to alter his digital features, as well as his voice.
“Regardless. ‘No lesson is as powerful as the lesson learned on one’s own.’ Besides, I knew you’d be fine.”
You blink down at him for a moment as you process his statement, and fail to contain your exasperated huff of annoyance when you realize where you’ve heard some of those words before.
“Don’t quote Night Vale at me right now, Sun.”
If you hadn’t been watching him so closely, you’d have missed the way his eyes turned upwards a bit, seemingly pleased with himself.
You continue, in spite of his attempts to deflect your words.
“You didn’t sound so self assured when you were rushing over to me on the floor with those big red “eyes” of yours blown wide. You were all like- ‘Where does it hurt? Show me. Where. How bad? You didn’t hit your head, right? Forget about the dog food- look at me.’ and all that.”
His eyes shift from crescent moons to flat lines, and his voice returns to his typical deadpan tone.
“You do a terrible impression of me.”
You scoff.
“Like yours is better?”
He nods, his faceplate shifting up and down within the limited range of motion he’s allowed, given your current position.
“I can literally mimic your voice. Mine is objectively superior.”
Thoughts of The Mimic flash in your mind, and it takes all you’ve got to not crack some sort of half-baked joke about the Ruin DLC. The smile on your face does little to hide the temptation, though.
“Debatable.”
Sun doesn’t press you for more, seeming less than eager to hear whatever joke he’s sure you’ve got sitting on the tip of your tongue.
“It’s not up for debate. If you wanna debate with someone go find Moon.”
He sighs heavily, breathing out his next words in an impressive display of realism given that his speech and breathing functions aren’t connected at all.
“I've run out of conversation juice.”
He shifts to sit back up, faceplate rotating, returning his body to its original position facing away from you. You huff and uncurl yourself from your perch on the couch. Moving to stand, you make your way around to the other end where his long legs cause his feet to jut out comically far past the armrest. You reach down, gently grabbing him by the ankles and begin to maneuver his legs out of the way, muttering to yourself as you do so.
“Wish I was a robot so I could lie and say my system has run out of something I don’t even have in the first place…”
He puts up no resistance as you fold his legs away accordion style, watching you in what almost seems like thoughtful silence. Once you’ve made room for yourself, you perch once again on the other arm of the couch, your feet resting on the far left cushion and your left side leaning against the backrest. He finally speaks once it seems that you’re settled.
“Alright. How would you rather I put it?”
You quirk an eyebrow up, slightly surprised at the sincere tone of his question. Shaking your head, you're quick to convey that you were only joking.
“No, no I didn't say to change it. I like ‘conversation juice', I think it’s funny.”
He tilts his head a bit, slow and analyzing. Half a smile slowly curls across his face and both of his eyes take on a soft, pale yellow. If you didn’t know better, you’d think he was tired. He's looking at you with such a gentle gaze. It's almost… sad, if you look closely enough.
“Funny? Hm. Well, I suppose I am nothing if not a clown.”
His attention drifts back down to his book, cracking it open and flipping through to return to the page he left off on in no particular hurry.
You know his deadpan tone likely isn’t meant to sound so self deprecating but your heart still hurts at the thought that he only sees himself as some sort of… novelty toy. A joke. A mechanical clown for you to play with when you’re bored. A comedic horror character brought to life.
He can only make so many jokes about himself before they start to sound less like jokes and more like a way for him to vent his insecurities. You understand that type of “humor” far too well to just sit back and watch him do it to himself.
You struggle to resist the urge to remind him that there is much, much more to him than being modeled after that character from that game. You consider reaching out and curling the tip of a finger under the bottom edge of his face plate. You think about gently tilting his face away from the book and back up at you. You want to look him in the eye while you tell him all of the things that you love about him, and how much he means to you, and that he is so much more than a clown.
But you know he handles comfort and praise just about as well as a cat handles falling into a bathtub, so… you resist the urge. For now.
Eventually, one day, likely far from now, you hope to get him used to the amount of love you have to give, and you’ll smother him with it like you want to. But if you lay it all on him like that right now, he would probably overheat and shut down. Both metaphorically and literally.
You really don’t want that to happen again. Scared the hell out of you last time. Even knowing that it’s a safety measure to ensure that he doesn’t sustain damage from overheating- it looks an awful lot like he’s dying when it happens and you’d like to not have to see it again.
So, you opt to keep things lighthearted. You smile as you reach out to pat him on the knee.
“And an excellent clown you are, dear.”
There’s more sugar in your tone than you intended to let out, but if he knew everything you really wanted to say, he’d realize that you’re actually being very reserved right now.
You’re being very normal about it all, you think, as you silently praise yourself.
When you finally get out of your thoughts and back into your body, you realize that you’re being eyed by the man on your couch in such a way that indicates he knows you were caught up in your head again. You spent too long in silence before you responded to him and now he’s likely aware that you were wanting to say something else.
A lot else, actually.
So, before he can potentially ask you what you’re thinking about, you attempt to change the topic. Laughing a bit to yourself, you stretch and shift to make your sudden and hopefully casual retreat from the couch and the awkward air you’ve clouded around it. Twisting around and planting your feet on the floor, there’s forced humor in your voice as you wonder aloud where his other half is.
“Speaking of clowns, what’s Moon been up to while I was working?”
Sun’s expression is unreadable as he spares you one last moment of his visual attention before angling his monitor back down toward the book. You know he’s perfectly capable of taking in visual information while outputting completely separate verbal communication, and can give both tasks his full attention simultaneously in the way no human truly could. Still, in spite of that knowledge, you doubt he’s really paying much attention to the words on the pages before him as he speaks to you right now.
“You know that sad, sad little plant that’s been fighting for its life on your kitchen windowsill for the last… thirty-seven days?”
You cringe a bit at the reminder of the succulent you impulse-purchased recently- well, a tad longer than recently if Sun’s count is accurate, which you know it is. You’ve been meaning to re-pot the poor thing and find a different place for it where it’ll receive better light, but… you’ve been meaning to do a lot of things.
“...Yeah…”
“Last I saw, he took it outside through the back door. He was muttering something about ‘saving’ it.”
Your eyebrows knit as your gaze casts across the floor.
“Saving it... okay.”
As far as you’re aware, you don’t have any potting soil on hand, so you struggle to feature what he’s out there doing with it.
It’s right around this time that you notice the silence of the house amidst your quiet consideration.
You raise another question.
“I assume Zero followed him out there?”
Sun’s true focus seems to be gradually shifting away from you and back into the book, if his display’s shift back to blank, soft white and his neutral-toned yet concise reply are anything to go off of.
“Mhm.”
You suck in a breath and pat your legs before easing yourself up off of the couch.
“I'm gonna go see what they’re up to, then.”
You’re so bold as to lay a gentle hand briefly on his shoulder as you pass him by, lingering just long enough to let something sincere slip.
“I hope you enjoy the book.”
He kicks his folded legs back out, crossing them as they come to rest on the opposite armrest once again.
“Don’t spoil it for me.”
You smile at his avoidance of your sentimentality, laughing a bit as you cross the room, headed for the back door, your tone playful.
“I make no promises!”

Sea Salt Like Glitter: Part Two
Summary: You’re a forest ranger. Trees and mammals are your specialty. Mermaids in the ocean? Way outside your area of expertise. Good News: They like you. Bad News: They like you a lot
Mer! Sun x Plus Sized! Reader x Mer! Moon
Part One , Part Two (Here!), Part Three
Part two for everyone who was looking forward to it! Mostly fluff and plot set up here, I hope you enjoy! Also this is over 4k and honestly people need to get me away from the computer. Also also, happy Ruin DLC! I’m hoping we see something good
Warnings: Different Species, Threats of Bodily Harm, Implied Poaching, Cross Species Interactions, Mild Flirting, Cross Species Courtship
You take the realization of mer people pretty well in your opinion. Sure, there was some yelling and swearing, pacing up and down in the woods. The birds that make their nests by your cabin are convinced that you’re crazy but you’ve always been an odd one. You want to chalk it up to a hallucination but the rope burn on your hands and lack of fuel tell a different story.
Mer people don’t change anything about your job, which is a relief and a struggle. You have to go back to your normal day to day knowing that there are other things out in the world. It does renew your passion around nature and conservation, just with a different twist. Your boss raises your eyebrows when you come in a little cagy but doesn’t push for an explanation, only requesting that you get some more rest.
You swear you will, even though it’s been a struggle. In your dreams all you hear is the sound of waves against rocks and red eyes under the water. You’re treading water and keep feeling something try to pull you under. Every morning you wake in a sweat and want to scream. The creature had been scary, sure, but it hadn’t tried to hurt you. Just chase you off. You argue with yourself as you head back to the beach, mumbling under your breath.
“You’re being ridiculous. Even if the thing lives around here, you saved it. It doesn’t want to eat you.” Your rational brain agrees with your words but the other part of your brain scoffs. You know some kind of underwater secret now, why would it let you live?
The argument continues as you go down the stairs, scanning over the beach. There isn’t any trash and you’re thankful. It takes more willpower than it should to look over the water and, very slowly, you relax. The gulls are the only animals above the water and fish dart happily underneath. There’s a ping in your chest and you hope the creature you saved is alright. It had looked like a deeper water fish. Your brain happily chimes in that it might be nocturnal too, based on all the squinting it was doing. Even better, now you won’t have to see it and you can go back to pretending the experience was a fever dream.
A high-pitched click, almost like a dolphin call, snaps you out of your thoughts. Your eyes scan the surface again and go wide, white eyes peeking out above the water. There’s a head sticking out of the water.
Both of you refuse to move, the other new creature in the water and you on the shore. Red fins raise just a little and you remember the other splashes. Your creature had a friend. Well fuck.
This creature makes another click and, ever so slowly, moves closer to shore. Your feet are rooted to the spot in fear and it pauses, not knowing what to do. You know that you need to do something but you have no idea what and you wave. Your hand comes up to give a few, very quick and sharp wags before going limp at your side once again.
You want to curl into a ball. Your brain howls at you for being an idiot while another part is cackling. How in the world humans have become the dominant species is beyond you. Waving at a fucking fish, are you crazy-
You’re brought out of your spiraling thoughts by a loud splash. The creature’s fins are widely displayed, fanning around it’s face like petals and it has a large grin on it’s face. Webbed fingers break the surface to give you it’s own furious waves before it dives under the water. You watch, half fascinated and half terrified, as it makes a beeline for shore.
You back up a meter as it getting closer, the mer dragging itself half out of the water. The fins by it’s head wiggle happily, reds and oranges and yellows distracting you. This mer is covered in warm colored splotches and you watch as two larger fins by it’s hips come to hug the sand. It’s teeth as just as sharp as it’s companions, as are it’s claws and you resist the urge to book it.
The mer has been making clicking sounds the entire time you’ve been staring at it and you subtly close your mouth. Hopefully it doesn’t think that you’re trying to be a threat. Of course you aren’t but who knows what mer culture is. If there is mer culture. A long, low whistle catches your attention and you focus on the mer. The fins around it’s head have wilted a little and you realize that it’s eyes are completely white. Part of you thinks there may be a pupil there but you’d need to get closer to confirm.
“Umm sorry bud, I didn’t mean to ignore you.” It takes you a second to find your words but when you talk the creature perks up again, a wide smile on it’s face. It gives something like a coo and you nod, ignoring the way the hair on your arms stands on end. “Nice to meet you?”
“Friend!” You almost scream when it speaks fucking human and moves closer to you. You scramble back or at least try. Your boot gets caught in the sand and you fall backwards, landing straight on your ass. Your eyes are huge but the mer doesn’t stop, getting closer until it can almost touch your feet. It doesn’t touch, claws stopping about half a foot away. It looks almost like it’s vibrating in place, fins wiggling and no actually, that’s it’s entire body wiggling.
“You speak-?” You cut your own question off, gesturing between the two of you. It gives a high-pitched giggle that makes your ears ring. It nods, getting lower to the ground and reminds you of a dog doing a play bow.
“Yes yes! Only little.” It’s voice is deeper than you expect, not that you expected anything. There’s another tone behind the first that you can’t exactly place; maybe it’s a mer thing? You nod back and introduce yourself, pronouns included. You want to laugh at yourself; maybe you’re in shock? Why else would you give your pronouns to a mer person? Was gender even a thing under the ocean??
“Nice to meet friend!” The mer gives a few other happy body wiggles and then a cross between a hiss and bark. You stare, not saying anything and it frowns. “Name translate no. He!” You could already feel your brain starting to melt but give him a nod.
“Is there something that’s close? To your name” His head tilts to the side at your question and he begins to hum, tail burrowing into the dirt. The humming is soothing and you find yourself  relaxing at the wordless tune. As you watch him and notice that he seems completely happy in the sand, his larger fins pushing the sand around him.  It reminds you of some kind of fish but the mer speaks up before you can get too far.
“Sun!” He’s more than a little excited to tell you his name, leaning as close as he can get. His face is much larger than yours and you shrink back a little, even though he doesn’t seem to notice. Sun changes back to clicks and coos, tail slapping rhythmically in the water.
“Sun huh?” You can’t help but smile a little. He seems like a big puppy dog, just with extra teeth. And his fins are sort of like the sun. Kind of? “Nice to meet you too Sun.” You don’t have time to react. Right after you finish saying his name, his eyes go wide and a long tongue comes out of his mouth. He drags it across your cheek and you shriek in surprise, the mer giving a pleased rumble.
The next couple of hours pass in the same way, Sun chatting as much as he can and you carrying the conversation. It’s easy to pass the time; you and Sun are both fascinated with each other. It seemed that while Sun could talk, it was rare that he actually got to interact with people. You were getting more comfortable with him, letting him lean on you and put his head in your lap.
The sun was starting to dip below the horizon and your new mer friend was slowly sinking back into water. The darker the sky got, the more he yawned and seemed to drift off. He was almost all the way back into the water now and you gave a small wave, Sun giving one back. You turned to go but a deep, more menacing growl came up from the water and you froze.
Red eyes glared out of the water at you, mouth pulled into a snarl. Sun didn’t seem at all worried, giving a coo but not turning towards the other mer. You quickly glance between the water’s edge and where you stood, wondering if you had enough distance. Quiet hissing got louder and you watched as the other mer dragged itself out beside Sun.
The mer looked a lot better than before; skin healed and healthy looking. Red eyes were brighter and more focused, squarely on you. You didn’t know if you should bolt or stay still. Sun leans on the new mer, rubbing his head against a dark shoulder. The one you rescued gives a snarl but rubs their head back, not pushing the other off. You’re still in shock that the mer is completely healed, even though it’s been less than 24 hours. Maybe a couple over? Either way, that’s nothing short of impressive.
“Him Moon.” Sun’s voice is sleepy, slurring heavily but still clear. You look at him and then the new mer, apparently dubbed Moon. Moon makes a face and begins to click and whistle. The two of them fall into conversation, leaving you to watch and figure out what to do. You’re more nervous with Moon here but Sun doesn’t seem worried. Your eyes keep scanning the beach, just in case; you remember the tentacles on Moon and have no desire to get snatched.
Moon sees you scanning and gives a deep laugh, flashing his teeth at you. Black tentacles slide onto the sand and you want to be terrified, you really do. You can’t though because they’re gorgeous. Moon, like the other fish in the area, has bioluminescence and it looks like stars are dancing across his scales. Now that you’ve noticed the lights you see them everywhere, covering his entire torso and arms.
Sun gives a happy coo and smiles at you, beckoning you closer. You hesitate, looking at Moon. He looks half annoyed but also half amused, lips curling up a little but the rumblings have stopped. You give a sigh, wondering if anyone would find your body and get closer. Both of them watch you approach and don’t move, a tension in the air. It doesn’t feel bad, just intense.
You stop in front of Moon and he doesn’t shrink down like Sun has. He looms over you, blocking out the moonlight. Sun gives another sleepy coo, fingers gently wrapping around your arm. You can’t breathe, ruby eyes locked on your face. Moon leans closer, scanning your face and then your entire body. A cold tentacle wraps itself around your ankle and you resist the urge to yell; if you’re going to die, you aren’t going to show any fear.
Being this close you can really see Moon’s lights fading in and out. There’s a larger patch of lights at the end of his head fins, dangling over his shoulder. It almost looks like a lure and you try not to think too much about it. Moon calls your name and you flinch, focusing back on him. You had been so zoned out earlier that Sun must have said your name and you didn’t realize.
“Keep secret.” Moon’s voice is harder to make out than Sun’s but you understand him. He hadn’t phrased it as a question but you nod anyway, wanting to reassure him.
“I won’t say anything, I promise.” You’re completely sincere and Moon scoffs, rolling his eyes. You furrow your eyebrows, not know why he wouldn’t like that answer. You don’t get a chance to ask because one of his hands comes up and places a claw directly on your forehead. A tingle of tear slides down your spine but you ignore it.
“Ours now.” The words themselves are ominous but Moon’s tone is kind, even a little fond. You don’t get it, not really, and he can tell based on his face. He gives a rumble and gently flicks your forehead, snickering as you yelp.
“Hey! What was that-!?” You’re clutching your head and don’t notice him going in under your hands it’s too late. Another cold tongue drags itself against your cheek and you shriek, mer laughter filling the air. “Eww again!? What is with you two and licking!?”
Either of them answers your question, Moon snickering and Sun giving a lazy wave. You watch as Moon helps the other one into the water, hands gentle and they disappear under the water silently. Your heart is pounding like crazy and you can’t stop the giddy laughter even if you wanted to. Does it sound a little hysterical? Maybe. But it also feels like something you’ve been missing is finally clicking into place.
The next few weeks you feel like you’re living the high life. Your trips to the beach have increased from once a week to every other day and you’re tempted to go every day. Without fail, one of them will meet you, even if it takes a little while. During the day it’s Sun and if it’s closer to evening, Moon may come visit. Sun is defiantly the friendlier of the two, pulling himself onto the sand and hanging out with you. Moon is more reserved, liking to stay in the water and splash you.
From what you’ve figured out, the two of them have been living in the area for years now. The secluded beach and lack of people make it ideal for staying out of the public eye. They’re also a mated pair; you’ve been too cautious to ask more details about that. There are cultural barriers that you’re trying to navigate and that seems like a topic to avoid for now.
The first time you ask about how they learned to speak, Sun gets a little sad. His fins drop and he snuggles closer in your lap. He’s the more physically affectionate of the two and you’ve gotten used to having wet pants.
“Human friend, long time ago.” His words are muffled by the fabric but he keeps going. You gently start to rub his back and he purrs, eyes looking up at you. “No stay, left soon.”
“Were they a ranger like me?” Your question earns a dark chuckle from Moon in the water. He glides around the edge, eyes locked on the two of you.
“Ranger too stupid to notice.” He rasps and you take offence, even if you know he’s not talking about you.
“I noticed you.” He hums, eyes half lidded and grin sharp.
“Not completely stupid.” You scoff at his words and he laughs. Sun gives a huff and flips his tail at Moon. The tentacled mer sputters at the water thrown at his face and sinks below the waves.
“Not ranger, visitor. Before beach was closed. Left once vacation over.” Sun sounds a little better now, not as sad as he explains. You nod, still rubbing his back and he soaks up the attention like a sponge.
“I’m sorry they left.” Sun smiles at your words, pulling you closer to him. It’s still unnerving to be manhandled so easily but you try to ignore it; people your size don’t usually get moved like feathers after all.
“Better now that you’re here.” You ignore the embarrassment you feel at Sun’s words, giving him a smile back.
“I’m glad you think so. I’m happy that I met the two of you.” Sun preens at the praise, the fins around his head fanning out in a dazzling display. Moon cuts off your admiring, shooting a jet of water directly at your face. You yelp and he snickers, crawling up onto the sand next to Sun. The two of them bicker as you clean your face and you can’t help but smile. This is the best time you’ve had in a while.
That, of course, means that it can’t last. A couple days after your sand cuddle session, you spot a boat out on the water. It’s larger than a normal speedboat and the hull is so dark grey it’s almost black. Dread settles in your gut like a stone; poachers.
They aren’t a common occurrence but that doesn’t mean poachers are rare. Normally you deal with them on the forest side and its easy to drive them off. Being on the water is going to be harder, partly because of the lack of equipment and partly because of your new friends.
You keep an eye on the boat as it lingers. You don’t see any nets or obvious illegal fishing but you can’t be everywhere at once. You ask Sun about it one day, making sure the two of you are out of sight of the boat.
“Boat fine.” He doesn’t seem nearly as worried as you are, chomping on a fish he caught earlier. He had offered you some and you declined, trying not to make a face. He clearly didn’t need to cook his food.
“You’re not worried about it?” You ask, a little surprised. Sun shrugs, half looking over his shoulder.
“Boat no fish, boat just stay.” You sigh, leaning against him.
“That’s what I’m worried about. I’m afraid that they’re poachers.” Sun listens as you speak, giving a rumble. “The two of you shouldn’t visit me until I figure this out.”
“What?” Sun sits up, fins flaring out along his head. He looks more than a little offended, leaning close to you. “Why no visit?”
“I don’t want you to get hurt.” You tell him, face serious. “I doubt anyone knows that you’re here but it’s better to be safe than sorry.” He watches you for a moment before leaning back and pouting.
“You take care of it?” You nod at his question, giving him a reassuring smile.
“Yeah Sun, I’ll take care of it.” He hums, fins wiggling for a bit before licking your cheek. You protest and all his does is laugh before sliding into the water. You figure that he’ll tell Moon your warning; you’re less worried about the nocturnal mer anyway. Now, onto the harder task.
Mark, at the end off the day, is a pretty good boss. He tends to be a little nervous (mostly around people) but he was always willing to go to bat for his employees and wildlife. He’s also the one to notify when you have issues in your remote part of the woods. He’s never been afraid to drive out and see what you’re dealing with.
“You’re making me nervous.” Mark can’t stop himself from commenting and you can’t blame him. You’ve been pacing up a storm since before he pulled up and hardly let him get a word in edge wise. You take a deep breathe, counting to four before releasing it. Make is here to help, even if you have to get a little more creative in your explanation.
“I’m sorry I just, I’m really worried about this.” You do your best to explain and Mark gives slow nod, looking out at the ocean.
“Normally you’re less concerned with ocean life.” Mark doesn’t make it sound accusatory but you still winced, looking out at the ocean. You watch the waves, trying to figure out how to phrase your thoughts.
“You’re right… I found something out there worth protecting.” You feel like your face is burning but pushed on, Mark watching you closely. “There are creatures who needs our help and don’t deserve to be hunted for sport. They’re worth more than that.” Silence fell and you held your breath; if he didn’t support you there was no way you could drive them off on your own.
“Some day you’ll have to tell me what you found.” Mark gives you a hearty back slap, surprising you and making you stumble. He laughs as you sputter, grabbing his binoculars and looking out. “Come on then, let’s get these folks out of your ocean.”
“It’s not my ocean!” Your protest is ignored, Mark snickering as he headed back towards his truck.
“Course it’s not. Come on, let’s get this down to the boat launch and go pay our friends a visit.” You grin at his words, calmed down with Mark’s confidence. He might normally be nervous but when it comes to wildlife, he was the pushiest person in the world.
Mark’s boat is nicer than yours and you ignore the ping of jealousy that stabs through you. Wish your boat was that nice. Mark drives you both closer to this boat, now on the south side of the rock formations. The boat had been driving around the rock formations in the area and it makes you nervous, knowing that Moon and Sun like to hunt there.
Once you get close enough, Mark hands you a megaphone and you stand up, doing your best to stay stable. Taking a deep breath, you let your voice boom out, thoughts of the mers down below giving your courage.
“Attention, you are in protected waters! State your business!” The ship stays silent for a moment after your request and the two of you tense. If they didn’t react, you would have to call in the coast guard and that was always hit or miss.  You repeat the message, seeing if there were any signs of movement. Nothing.
“What do you want to do?” You ask Mark, turning to face him. Your boss frowns, shaking his head.
“It doesn’t mean that they’re poachers but it doesn’t look good. Let’s head back and call it in.” You nod in agreement and turned back around just in time to watch someone lean over the edge. Your eyes go wide as this person begins to puke, wincing as the sound echoed over the water. You and Mark share a look before you bring the megaphone back to your lips.
“Excuse me?” Your call has the person on the boat jumping, a high-pitched shriek filling the air. The person on the ship turns to you and you give a wave. “Please state your businesses, you’re in protected waters.” You watch as the person flails for a moment before putting their fingers up in a ‘hold on a second’ gesture and heading back into the boat.
“Not poachers.” Mark says from behind you and you nod, going boneless with relief.
“Not unless this is their first voyage.” You joke back and he laughs.
“Bad crew choice right there.” The two of you laugh to yourselves, pleasantly surprised as the person comes back with a few more people, their own megaphone in hand. You take another breath, begging yourself for some patience. This was going to be a long talk.
It took almost two hours to convince the boat they had to leave. Apparently, it was a private party ship that had drifted too far south. You let Mark do most of the technical talking, especially when it came to where exactly the boat was supposed to be. You had more fun watching the people try to be sober when they very clearly were not.
You also keep an eye out for your underwater friends but they stay away and you’re thankful. You don’t want to have to explain to Mark about mer people on top of dealing with drunk tourists. Finally, the two of you watch the ship drive off and you sigh, leaning back and closing your eyes.
“Tired?” Mark sounds as tired as you feel and you nod, closing your eyes.
“Yeah. They’re more than 20 meters off course, how does that even happen?” Mark gives a snort, turning the boat back and driving to the shore.
“That’s what happens when you get drunk and your ship is fancy enough to have cruise control. I’m going to call it in once we get back and hopefully someone will meet them on their way back.” You give a hum back, acknowledging his words.
“Sounds good to me. I’ll write up my report tonight and get it to you by tomorrow.” He waves you off, shaking his head.
“A couple of days later is no big deal. I have the regional meeting tomorrow too.” You wince at ‘regional meeting’. Sucks to be the boss. The two of you spend the rest of the ride in silence, getting the boat out of the water easily. You’re just about to part ways when there’s a large splash in the water behind you.
Your stomach drops out as you turn and see a flash of Sun’s bright red tail. Mark’s eyes are wide like yours and you don’t know what to say. He clearly saw Sun, even if it wasn’t all of him. You want to tell him he’s crazy but Mark just shakes his head, rubbing at his eyes.
“I’m… seeing things, I think. I’m gonna head back. We’ll talk once you finish your report.” You nod, trying not to come off as too relieved because of his words.
“Have a good night Mark, we’ll talk later.” He gives you a half wave as you see him off, making sure the boat is hooked up before driving off. You pray that Mark will ignore what he’s seen; he loves the ocean more than anyone.
Sun jumps into the air again and now you watch with a smile, heading back towards the beach. With the sun getting close to setting, maybe you’ll see Moon tonight too. Mark may have competition for ocean lover, now that you think about it.
