#Story: Buntan's Baby Brother

is there a reason you tag all your fic on ao3 with no sex/smut/rape etc even when the fic doesn't even come close to having anything to do with those topics...?

That's a really good question!

Those tags are part of what I consider to be my exclusionary tag set:

No Sex No Smut No rape No sexual assault No violence No onscreen violence

I add them to my fics on AO3 specifically so that people can use them to exclude content they don't like.

For example, Chasing a Criminal is a story where a serial killer kidnaps a woman, but I'll specifically include 'No rape' and 'No sexual assault' to show that this story is safe to read for people who can't read stuff like that.

Buntan's Baby Brother opens on a scene in which Buntan remembers escaping from the threat of sexual assault. Because she's 16 at the time, I use the 'Rape/Non-Con' and 'Underage' archive warnings. However I also include the tags 'No Sex, No Smut, No rape, No sexual assault' specifically to show that those things do not occur within the story.

Essentially, I'm trying to make it easy for people who want to search for stories, but it would make no sense to add them only to stories which might have them but don't. So I add any that apply to all my stories.

Because of that, searching for 'Senju Tobirama/Uchiha Izuna' and 'No sex' with a 'Mature' rating should get you a story that fits all those parameters - a story that's meant for adults, with themes to match, that contains no sex.

Six Sentence Sunday

It’s Sunday for me, so here is a short snippet from my current WIP as my offering for Six Sentence Sunday.

This is from Buntan's Baby Brother, the story of Buntan's life in Courting Culture Confusion. It's a little bit more than six sentences, just to get to the end of the section.

Kisame sniffs, scenting the air.

It's not much, not anything could explain to anyone else, but there's an indefinable sense that something has changed and he knows exactly what.

There are people here, in his home.

Not in the clan house where Tamami and the children stay, but here in the little building right next to gates of the clan compound, positioned perfectly so no one will be able to pass through without alerting him.

A shadow shifts, ever so slightly, and Kisame swings Samehada out in a wide sweeping arc as the sword bursts out of the bandages that wrap it.

It connects with another sword - and not just any sword, but one that emits a burst of lightning.

A sword that tells Kisame exactly who he's facing.

"So, Raiga, have you come to kill me?" Kisame grins and Samehada grins with him, its smile no more or less savage than his. "I promise that I won't be easy prey."
