Mega Pearl is such a fun fusion. I find it fascinating she's one of the few fusions who doesn't have extra limbs or eyes due to their shared experiences and feelings with Pink Diamond. I also like that they kept Volleyball's cracked eye

I love the use of colors in this show so much. From the cold blue tones to being washed in the pink of the bracelet... and then the soft piano theme coming in? It's so good, it's so sweet

i think this show having 11 minute episodes kinda fucks it over just a little. cause things feel rushed a lot of the time, but like, if you only have 11 minutes to tell a story, no fuckin wonder it feels fast

like its fine if youre trying to tell stories that dont have much weight, but this show has a lot going on, and setting up its problems and solutions within 11 minutes is soo mean to it

i love watching steven universe after su future came out because now i can pinpoint a lot of the moments where steven was probably hit too hard for a normal human to survive or even just injured in a way most people would need a doctor for. getting smacked in the face with a rock when sugilite destroyed the communication hub, getting smashed into a pillar by amethyst during their duel in the ruins, burning his foot when he stepped on the hot stone in the forge while stabbing bismuth, falling from multiple high places, even when he grabbed onto a bunch of vines to save himself from falling while chasing pearl in the rose’s scabbard episode, like that HAD to have yanked something out of its socket!!! my guy has been through so much!!! let him take a break!!!

it took a little over a month to do but IT'S FINALLY COMPLETE!!

this color wheel challenge was super fun to do, especially since i had been so creatively stagnant for many months. and i got to draw some guys i either never have or hadn't done in a long time! it was such a good time, and i'm thankful for my friends for their help with suggestions - there were so many that sounded cool that i'm desperate to do at least one more round on my own!

i'm so happy to see this finished and looking so nice. you can probably tell when i was sick and when i wasn't lol but overall i'm still really happy with how it turned out :3

i do realize that steven universe already had a really hard time getting lesbian rep on air, and ruby and sapphire's wedding contributed to the show's cancellation, so this may be asking a lot of them .. but they had a prime opportunity to make canonically transmasc/nonbinary/genderqueer gems with the whole "all gems are technically genderless but fem presenting by default" thing

like. just an example, what if a gem found out what nonbinary is and they adopted that label because gems are already genderless and that makes sense to them

also if they made a transmasc gem i think i would've adored that guy (and the show) forever and ever and ever

to me, it would make sense to headcanon steven as trans because of the whole "all gems are girls" thing, but a headcanon just doesn't give me the same flavour of joy as canon representation would, y'know?

this is what fanfiction is for, i suppose .. !

I simply believe that some people need to watch steven universe season 1 episode 46 Open Book and internalise the message of that episode before engaging in online discussion about a piece of fiction

Rose went so hard with her aesthetic. It does make for an interesting comparison later on when Steven's powers take on a more geometric, sharp look as he becomes more used to being a pink diamond over the soft roundness of rose quartz
