In the Solace Wedding Planning agenda, on the fifth page into their summer schedule, there are carefully scrawled out notes reading this: Bride and Groom - Hazel Levesque & Frank Zhang Best Man & Maid of Honor - Percy Jackson & Piper McLean Wedding Court - Annabeth Chase & Jason Grace Mellie & Gleeson Hedge Reyna Ramírez-Arellano & Leo Valdez Ring-bearer - Chuck Hedge Flower-boy - Nico di Angelo - Will plans wedding and now, apparently, Nico stars in one. Except...sometimes there's a bit more confusion on that last part. AKA the AU where Will plans weddings and thinks Hazel and Frank are going to have to cutest, gap-toothed ten year throwing flowers down the aisle, all while wondering why this 'Neeks' guy is always hanging around, and what business he has looking that good.

yes i am back on my rosyredlipstick (dude she's GOOD okay). however this one is my favourite i think. this is the kinda story you could use to explain to people what dramatic irony is bc LORD i wanted to SHAKE THEM 😭😭 will falling like deeply in love with nico and being intensely stressed about everything the whole time is so real and on brand. i love him and i love the fond exasperation that just bleeds from this fic its GREAT

You know what?

It still bugs me that Albert wasn’t at Chim & Maddie’s wedding or even mentioned

If John Harlan Kim couldn’t guest star this season - they should have gotten creative!

Show Mr. Lee (or Mrs. Lee) calling Albert and then holding the phone up! It would have taken only a few extra seconds!

And then it doesn’t seem like Albert doesn’t care about his big brother getting married / Chim doesn’t care about his little brother not being there for his wedding

I love what we got with Kevin, it does not change my dissatisfaction about Albert’s absence- Chim has more than one brother, it’s not an either or situation

We’re in the 21st century, we have access to pretty much the entire world in a handheld device! It’s crazy that it isn’t implemented more for improving with missing characters

I really wish writers would remember that when actors aren’t available or other any complications arise that prevent a character from being on screen when they really should be there!

(Like y’all, their jobs are literally creative writing, why do they so rarely creatively write solutions to these very common problems??? 🥲)

My apologies for this rant, I’m just genuinely disappointed that we haven’t even had a mention about him or what he’s doing - especially since he missed such an important family event 😭

I've reblogged a post from a star trek blog and I mentioned this episode of voyager but screw it I wanna talk about this episode because imo it's more fucked up than threshold.

SEASON 5, EPISODE 17: "Course: Oblivion"

The episode starts out really nice!!! There's a wedding going on in the mess hall!!! Tom and B'elanna are getting married!!! Chakotay walks her down the aisle!!! Seven catches the bouquet!!!

After that everything is Same as Always. They are trying something new with the engines. B'elanna is telling Seven what to do while she and Tom are on their honeymoon. She goes to their quarters and IMMEDIATELY gets sick (and not the fanfiction "Congratulations! :)" sick).

Tom finds her and takes her to sickbay. The doctor diagnoses her with cellular degradation due to radiation. The rest of the crew are trying to figure out why. Chakotay and Tuvok are trying to figure out why parts of the ship and replicated food are going bad and immediately disintegrating except for food Neelix has gotten from other stops on the route for the past six months.

And the B'ELANNA FUCKING DIES.

SHE FUCKING DIES WITH TOM CRYING HER NAME AND TELLING THE DOCTOR TO KEEP TRYING AND THE DOCTOR RESIGNEDLY STOPPING REVIVAL ACTIONS.

Tuvok and Chakotay go over all their travel logs and realize something. They go to sickbay where Tom is grieving his FRESHLY DEAD WIFE and tell the Doctor to inject her with a solution.

AND B'ELANNA TURNS INTO A PUDDLE OF MERCURY LOOKING LIQUID.

AS IT TURNS OUT, THIS ENTIRE CREW AND THE VOYAGER SHIP ARE DUPLICATES MADE OF THIS FLUID THAT HAVE ALL THE EXACT SAME MEMORIES AS THE ORIGINALS BUT FORGOT THEY WERE DUPLICATES.

And I'm sure you're asking: Andi, when could this have happened???? It happened in the episode "Demon" ONE WHOLE SEASON AGO IN 4X24. These biomimetic lifeforms (called Silver Blood) from a demon class planet duplicated the entire crew and the ship because they had never encountered human DNA before. Janeway let them because otherwise they couldn't have gotten the dilithium they needed safely.

SO THE ENTIRE CREW AND SHIP ARE DUPLICATES AND ARE SLOWLY DISENTEGRATING AND IT IS HORRIFYING. EVERYONE BEGINS TO LOOK LIKE A CRONENBERG EXTRA. PEOPLE ARE DYING. JC LITERALLY HAVE A MOMENT AND HE FUCKING DIES. JANEWAY GETS THEM OUT OF ONE LAST SPACE CONFRONTATION AND THEN SHE FUCKING DIES IN THE CAPTAIN'S CHAIR. HARRY KIM IS NOW THE CAPTAIN BUT DEAR GOD THE COST AND THE ONLY SENIOR STAFF LEFT ARE SEVEN ANS NEELIX.

After Chakotay dies, Janeway had ordered the crew to try to find the OG Voyager crew so that they can duplicate them again and get a few more months so they can find another demon class planet to survive on. Harry and Seven are pushing the ship to its limits. They can only use impulse, life support, and can barely send out a distress signal. A ship is approaching. Harry braces himself for a confrontation. Something in engineering explodes.

The Ship is the OG Voyager. They got the distress signal. They notice it's gone. They turn on the view screen -

The duplicate Voyager has completely disintegrated into the liquid. The OG Voyager is confused as hell as to what happened here, but make a note of it and move on.

What I found the most fucked up??? After this episode, the viewER HAS NO IDEA IF THE EPISODES BETWEEN "DEMON" AND "C:O" DETAILED THE EVENTS OF THE OG VOYAGER OR THE DUPLICATE ONE. IF IT WAS EVER MADE CLEAR PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I HAVE BEEN HAUNTED BY THIS EPISODE SINCE I WAS IN THE 5TH GRADE AND I NEED CLOSURE!!!!

AND!!!!! IT WAS SO FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THEY GOT SO CLOSE!!!! THEY ALMOST MADE IT!!!! BUT THEY WERE TOO LATE AND DIED!!!! ITS SO FUCKING TRAGIC 😭😭😭😭

June 2023 Wk 3

Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs. Organized by which ones (in each category) I’m enjoying most.

Ongoing Series - Thai

Step By Step (Tues WeTV & Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - There sure is a lot of drinking in this show (who am I to talk?). Omg so awkward: The not-break-up not-confession. I have heartburn. Also I could not watch Jeng break down. Just nope. Then time jump? If that was our DOOM episode the timing is off. Or next week is the final? Or we get 3 eps of domestic bliss and sexitimes? I’m confused.

La Pluie (Sat iQIYI) ep 9 of 10 - I like how trope-subversive this show is - first soulmates, then love triangle, now the faen fatal. NO SINGING. Oh good. They didn’t! Yay! So yeah I still love it. But I am also still a touch scared of where it might go. This one can’t be trusted.

Be My Favorite (Fri YouTube) ep 5 of 12 - not a bad ep this week or was I too drunk to register nuance and damage? You decide. Trash watch here.

Luminous Solution (Sat Gaga) ep 5 of 6 - I always have to psyche myself up to watch this show, because I want to fast forward through most of it, but it’s on Gaga so that’s damn near impossible. At least this is the penultimate episode. I think after 3 BLs I can safely say Gun is just not a good actor. Speaking of... crying clothed in the shower? I haven’t seen that trope in years. But I LOVE the high school boys and their story so much. Love Sick level of earnest floppy goodness, I’m such a sucker for this kind of romance. I want them to be in a completely different BL. I’m so conflicted. I NEED this show to end so I can decide how I feel about it.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Love Tractor (Korea Weds iQIYI) eps 5-6 of 8 - So much is happening, evil x-boyfriend shows up. We got flashbacks to coming-out drama + nasty dad (super unusual for a KBL). But baby’s first taste of desire is hilarious. This one is full of lovely contrasts, and contrasting life experiences. It’s all about support and neglect.

Tokyo in April AKA Shigatsu no Tokyo wa (Japan Thurs Gaga) ep 2 of 8 - Very much full of hero worship and giving me My Beautiful Man vibes (only softer and office set). “Dazzling” = always an interesting word when it comes up in JBL subs. It’s clearly a Japanese word/concept like kawaii that is more complex than the English word being used. Meanwhile, this being Japan we get lots of hints as to separation and dark past events.

Tie The Knot (prev Under the Same Sky) (Pinoy YouTube) eps 1-2 of 8 - From OXIN Films (Rainbow Prince), based on a true story (?!), Briggs's family runs a bridal business but he has never fallen in love until he meets a groom to be in an arranged marriage. EXACTLY the same premise at Mame’s forthcoming Wedding Planner. There are so many characters and prospective couples (including a v bi girl with a female fuck buddy, not seen that in a BL before) that it is a little hard to keep straight (heh). I’m sure it will shake out. It’s intriguing so far, if a touch silly. I actually like the arranged marriage premise because the two rich kids involved in it are so weirdly kind & platonically sweet to each other, even if they’re both on the same page about it only being for show.

Vian the series (Vietnam YouTube ) ep 7 & 8 of 12 - Apparently there is very little difference between a cat and a demanding princess of a boyfriend. That clocks. Basically this was the dating times.

Naked Dinner AKA Zenra Meshi (Japan Fri Gaga) ep 11 of 12 - There is a lot more meat to this silly little BL then I thought there would be given the premise, but it’s Japan so that’s as it should be. But, as it’s Japan there’s also a little too much cringe for me. I do enjoy how generous Japan is with late bloomers and I would def like to host a kimchi party but otherwise... meh.

Stupid Genius (Vietnam Fri YouTube) ep 3 of 6 - Bi erasure still alive and well I see. This one remains fine for VBL but no more than that.

It’s airing but ...

House of Stars (Thai Mon iQIYI) 12 eps - I bounced at ep 3. Will binge if told it is worth it at end.

Stay (Pinoy YouTube) 7 eps - It’s mostly in English and set in LA so I’m not bothering but the first one did drop.

Ever After (Pinoy YouTube) - I investigated but as spies reported it's a real mess (not a hot one). Don’t bother.

About Us but Not About Us (Pinoy Prime?) - from 2022 supposed to be finally getting inter distribution, didn’t show in my territory. A professor grieving the loss of his partner meets an ambitious literature student. I’m not fussed.

What Did You Eat Yesterday movie, BL Express posted a review. I’ve yet to get hold of it but if you enjoy Our Dining Table this is it’s grown up parent series & movie.

Café in Love - I finally got around to watching this. And frankly it hits all the tropes but is so damn bad. The setting is cute, the central brotherly relationship is sweet, the side cast is v queer (baby gay has all these auntie queens catting about) and some complex bisexual awakenings but… but… everything else is a chemistry void. Some fun language wordplay and exploration of cultural tropes like cheek kissing does not save it from an unnecessary amount of punching and a but ton of sexual harassment and statutory rape. No thank you. I had to rewatch Destiny Seeker to get over this. 3/10

Takumi-kun Series 6: Nagai Nagai Monogatari no Hajimari no Asa (Japan Sun ????) 10 eps - NO ONE ASKED FOR THIS and no, I have no idea where to get it, why would I? Apparently it finished. I still can’t find it but it’ll be off this list next week.

Why You (Khmer ????) - Billed as a horror romance, not sure if this is a movie or a series where it aired... nothing except that it exists.

Just started today (Sunday): Dinosaur Love (Thai iQIYI) Trailer 10 eps - from Ultimate Troop about a uni student, Rak, whose partner cheats on him with Rak's best friend. This gives bad boy hazer Dino an opportunity to hit on Rak at last. From The Yearbook people so I shouldn’t watch this as it airs. After Remember Me? I swore never again with them. But there’s so little on right now, I might fall on the pulp sword.

A Plot Hole and Reassurance

Ayy, another hurt/comfort fic because I have a problem. If ya want to be added or taken off the taglist, pls ask!

Pairing: Logince, gen

Trigger/Content Warning: insecurity, touch-starvation

Description: Logan doubts any and all creative merit he has. How could he be creative when he isn’t even Creativity? Roman doubts his own intelligence. How can he be smart when he struggles with basic logic? They both prove each other wrong in a wonderful brainstorming session, finally solving a plot hole the size of Thomas’ heart.

Extra: written for Day 5: Stroke of Genius of @loginceweek2024! And now to project on these poor men. Made myself cry, whoops. Relating to Roman as someone with a cognitive disorder.

How can one be creative without being Creativity, and how can one be smart when traditional smart things are hard for them?

Surely, Logan can’t be creative. He isn’t Creativity. He’s Logic. He knows math and science and the stars. He can calculate in multiple variations, speak certain phrases in a multitude of languages, and spit out random facts without any prompt to do so. He’s reasonable for Reason and Critical Thinking and Common Sense. He isn’t creative, no matter what the Others say. No matter what Thomas may believe, Logan is Logic. That’s it. No matter how much he wishes he could understand Roman’s realm a bit more… it’s fine. He doesn’t have to be creative to be important, right? Even if he’s a part of a person who relies more on his creative merits for a career. And, yeah, the Chemical Engineering degree didn’t get him anywhere.

But he still needs his Logic! Everyone needs some Logic. Isn’t that how humans function best, with thoughts and reasoning? It’s fine.

Even when he really needs some creativity of his own to help with a ridiculously-sized plot hole, which no one can seem to find a solution to.

“How did this happen, again?”

“I don’t know, specs. Isn’t that your realm, hm? Aren’t you Logic?”

“Your point being?”

“My point is you’re the one with solutions! You, out of everyone else, have this unique ability to whip up solutions to problems that no one else sees. You have this- this super power that I’d be a coward not to acknowledge. You’re smart beyond belief, Logan,” Roman’s eyes sparkle when he gushes about Logan, almost forgetting himself and where he is.

Logan rolls his eyes, a light blush forming from the compliments he’s still not used to hearing. Ever since the unforchunate events of the post-wedding meeting, they’d gone to each other and apologized for their past mistakes. They’d been trying to rebuild their bond, which included Roman letting Logan know just how much he appreciated him. Logan has been a lot more kind with his criticisms, trying to be less harsh and more understanding. He’s always been astounded by Roman’s creativity and the way he ropes certain things together, and it’d been about time he told the Prince that. And every time he hears it, the royal has a hard time believing him. It’s been made clear just how much Roman’s been hurt and tossed around and used, and Logan’s done being a part of the cause. Now, even when they disagree, Logan makes sure Roman knows he’ll support him. He has his back, and Roman has his.

“It’s intelligent,” Logan playfully corrects, a small smirk tugs at his lips. “And… I don’t always have solutions, Roman. I’m not a- well, I don’t have superpowers. That’s absurd. I’m only a part of a human, much less a super one.”

Roman pauses, showing a look of concern that confuses the nerd.

“What were you gonna say?”

“What?”

“You were saying something but cut yourself off. What were you gonna say, specs?”

“It’s irrelevant-”

“Logan.”

Logan stops, snapping his mouth shut. He glances away, avoiding Roman’s worried face. Sometimes, it’s hard to believe that he has someone on his side. Too used to being ignored by everyone and silenced, it feels too unreal. Sometimes. He tenses, his shoulders scrunching themselves up. His jaw clenches, and Roman can’t stifle the noise of concern that slips out.

Roman sighs, “I don’t mean to scare you, cosmonaut. It just worried me.”

“...don’t laugh, please?”

“Of course not, cosmonaut. I won’t huff and puff any sound.”

Logan exhales a small laugh at the fairytale reference. He bites his lip for a moment, stopping once he realizes. He closes eyes, takes a breath, and looks at Roman.

“I meant to say that I’m… I’m not a robot. I don’t always have the answers to things, Roman.”

Logan’s voice is so unsure and soft and cautious that it makes Roman’s chest ache.

“I didn’t think you were, starlight. I’m sorry if I made it seem like I did. You amaze me with your intelligence, okay? That’s all I meant. You’re so intelligent and thoughtful, and you excel at all these smart things that I just don’t. I’m not really smart, and you always impress me with that brain of yours.”

Logan relaxes his shoulders and unclenches his jaw as he processes Roman’s words. It feels better, knowing he impresses Roman. Roman, who’s creativity rivals the greatest artists. I mean, objectively. Don’t tell Remus he said that.

However, it’s now Logan’s turn to look concerned as he processes the rest of his prince’s words. Roman smiles confused as he tilts his head at his detective.

“What is it, specs?”

“You aren’t smart?”

“Well, yeah, I know that.”

“No- Roman, why don’t you think you’re smart?”

“I mean, have you met me? I’m Creativity, specs, that doesn’t really account for a lot of brains. That’s your domain.”

“Roman, how can you not be smart? Who told you, you weren’t?”

“I- um, what?”

“Who told you? I apologize if I ever gave off that, uh, ‘vibe’, as you say-”

“What? No, you didn’t. It’s fine.”

“Ro.”

Roman rolls his eyes.

“...is it because of the whole ‘el príncipe es estúpido’ thing?”

“Whaaa, no. It’s not important, specs.”

“It is, because it’s you and you’re important.”

Roman stutters before shutting up, looking away and crossing his arms stubbornly.

“Roman.”

He huffs.

“My prince, please.”

Roman risks a glance at his astrophile, softening when he sees his unrestrained worry on his beautiful face. The pet name makes him blush and dissolve his stubbornness a bit. That goddamn voice when he says it. For f*ck’s sake, how can one person be so good at doing that- that? That thing he does when he’s worried and gentle and soft. Goddamnit.

Roman sighs, “...maybe.”

“My prince, I am sorry I hurt you like that. If I could time travel, I’d make sure I never started in the first place.”

“You’ve already apologized, specs.”

“I know, but I’ll say it again if it helps. And it’s still hurting you.”

Logan holds out his hands, and Roman lets him grab his own as he unfolds his arms. The touch surges warmth through his arms and burns a deep squishy part in his chest. He gasps for a moment, trying to get a hold of himself as the fire in his heart crackles brighter than it has in a long time. He wobbles a little bit, and Logan holds him tighter as he does. The detective frowns, worry increasing.

“It’s not just- just- how’d you get so warm?” Roman’s eyes haze over as Logan rubs soft circles on his knuckles.

“Oh, Roman. You poor, poor thing,” Logan mumbles, cupping one hand on his face.

Roman’s now-free hand grabs blindly for Logan’s arm, gripping it like a lifeline. Logan strokes his thumb lightly across his prince’s jaw, and it wobbles slightly. Roman’s eyes grow misty.

“My prince, how long has it been since someone last touched you?”

“I don’t- please,” the Prince whines as his eyes shut, unsure what he’s even begging for.

“Shh, I’ve got you, I’ve got you.”

Logan cups Roman’s face with his other hand. Roman responds by melting and grabbing his other arm, trying to ground himself in the surreal reality that this is real, he’s really holding my face, he’s really there. Roman can only lean forward to set his forehead on Logan’s as he feels him shake and become unsteady.

After a few minutes, Roman finally attempts speaking again.

“I need… I can’t think when you do this.”

Logan nods, reluctantly letting go of Roman’s face. The knight in gold, white, and red whimpers at the loss of warmth. He forces himself to ease on Logan’s arms, opening his eyes but remains looking at the floor.

“It’s not just the whole… ‘el príncipe es estúpido’ thing. I guess I, well, I’m not very good with the basic logic things. I’m not- I don’t understand common sense or the most basic of smarts. Not like you do, not in any way, and I’m not smart. How can I be smart if I can’t understand those things?”

“Can I touch you again, my prince?”

Roman glances up to Logan’s eyes the best he can with their head so close, and he nods. He stumbles again when he feels all the burning warmth rush back as Logan cups his face again. He goes back to everything he did previously, and it just melts the poor royal. Logan can’t hold back his coo as Roman’s eyes flutter shut again.

“Just because you struggle with a lot of cognitive smarts doesn’t mean you aren’t smart. Far from it. It simply means that your intelligence comes from your creativity rather than your logic. I think it’s wonderful how smart you are, Roman. You’re so creative and know how to tie together certain things and sew up loopholes without batting a figurative eye. I’m astounded by your intelligence. You impress me more times than I can remember with your problem-solving when it comes to using your creative merits for more than storybooks.”

Roman is breathless by the time Logan ends, feeling unnoticed tears fall down his face and over Logan’s hands. Logan gently thumbs them away as Roman sniffles, crying harder.

“I don’t know if I can believe you, Lo,” he cries.

“That’s okay. I’ll be here to remind you until you do, my prince.”

“Even when I do?”

“If you want me, then yes.”

“I do, I do want you, Logan.”

Logan smiles kindly, pressing a light kiss to his companion’s nose. Roman gives a watery smile in return. The detective lets go of his face and holds out his arms slightly, separating from his prince for a second.

“Come here, my prince. Come let me hold you- oof.”

Roman rushes into his astrophile’s arms, feeling Logan wrap around him tightly. He cries still, burying his face into his companion’s chest. Logan rubs bigger circles on Roman’s shoulder blades. It makes his precious royal gasp and his breath hitch as he leans more into him.

“There you go. Just like that, my prince.”

It takes a while- both unsure how long- but eventually, the burning slowly eases to a vibrant warmth in Roman’s chest. Logan leans his head back to look at his knight.

“Feel any better, hm?”

“Mhm,” Roman feels hazy and wonderfully fuzzy as he relaxes and slumps against his fellow Side’s body.

“Good. You think we can try working out the plot hole now?”

“Mm, yeah. Just give me a minute, specs.”

“Okay,” he says as he kisses Roman's hair.

A few minutes later, and Roman finally comes to. He blinks, easing out of Logan’s embrace. He rubs his red-rimmed eyes, mentally noting to fix his makeup later. He notices some of it got on Logan, along with wet tear-spots and snot.

“Sorry for getting all my stuffs on you,” he speaks softly.

Logan looks down, huffing amused.

“It’s quite alright, Roman. I can always wash it.”

“But you’re always so clean, specs. What would you do if I ruined your reputation?” the Prince jokes.

Logan smirks playfully, “Then I guess I’d have to get you back.”

“And how would you do that?”

“Well, I can’t just tell you my secrets.”

“Logan, that’s not fair.”

“Oh? How’s that?”

“No. No, I know that’s a trap, no.”

They both snicker at each other before calming down.

“Okay, now the plot hole?”

“Right. Well, it’s for the short story, right?”

“Yes.”

“Okay, let’s see… so we come to the part where the protagonists are captured at the antagonists’ lair, and they know them already. So, how do they?”

Logan huffs, “I’m not very good with creativity, Roman.”

Roman gives him a weird look, but decides to brush it off for the time being.

“Well, how do people usually find out who you are without you telling them first?”

“If we look at history… usually, it’s because someone else told them.”

“Okay, what else?”

“I don’t know, Roman.”

“Well, neither do I! Come on, specs. Go deeper, keep thinking.”

Logan sighs, “Okay. Historically, it’s because someone who knows you already tells the other person without your knowledge. Like figuratively spilling a secret, if you want to go that far.”

Roman nods, “Okay, okay. How do we apply that to our main plotline?”

“Roman-”

“Specs.”

“Fine, if you insist so much. During wartime, there’s a trend of spies or double agents spreading country secrets.”

Roman’s eyes light up like spotlights as an idea forms.

“Oh my gosh, that’s it! Specs, you’re a genius.”

Logan blushes as he raises an eyebrow inquisitively.

“Do tell, Roman.”

“What if one of them were a mole, a spy in the ranks, a betrayer in their adventuring group? That’s how they know the protagonists and who they are. Oh, what if it’s the leader? I need my binder-”

Logan smiles as the plot holes gets resolved, glad he can help in any way. Roman summons his binder and a pen, flipping to the page they marked last session. He scribbles, excited as he writes, bursting and vibrating with creative energy.

“I’m glad it got sorted out, Roman.”

Roman’s smile is alike the Moon; bright, addictive to look at, and could be considered divine.

“If it wasn’t for your creative stroke of genius, it wouldn’t have been. I appreciate it, specs.”

Roman almost misses the small way Logan shrinks. The astrophile rolls his eyes and scoffs.

“I’m not Creativity, Roman. I can’t be creative.”

The aforementioned knight immediately looks up as he stops writing.

“And why not, faux serpent?”

“I’m not lying, Roman. I don’t have creativity. I’m Logic, not-”

“So? If I can be smart and sh*t, why can’t you be creative?”

“Because- because I’m just not.”

“Oh? Who said that I, a very not-logic-smart faucet, was smart but in my own way? The same logic applies to you, specs. You just proved you’re creative!”

“By what? Knowing historical facts?”

“Yes!”

“How is that creative, Roman?”

“It’s creative in your own way, Logan. You using your logic and facts to come up with a solution for a plot hole, that’s creative. That’s how.”

Logan scoffs in disbelief.

“Starlight, why don’t you believe me?”

“Because I can’t be creative! I’m not- that’s not how it works.”

“And why not? Why can’t you be creative?”

“Because I’m not you! I’m not Creativity. You and Remus have your own creative merits, and you know how to weave together irrelevant pilot points and make it make sense. You’re so impressive with how much intelligence and hard work it takes to do what you do, Roman. And I’m… I’m not you.”

Roman sets his pen and binder down on the nearest table, walking calmly towards his companion. He holds out his hands, just as Logan did for him, offering to hold his. Logan takes his hands silently, looking down at them rather than at Roman.

“Oh, starlight. You don’t have to be me to be creative. I appreciate all the praise, you know I do. You don’t have to be like me nor Remus. I mean, sometimes you two have frighteningly similar interests in subjects, which is just weird,” Roman jokes, squeezing his astrohphile’s hands, making him snort. “But you can still be creative, my dearest star. You helped me solve a horribly troublesome plot hole with that creative, wonderfully logical brain of yours. You’re just creative differently from Remus and I.”

Logan huffs, smiling slightly as he looks back up at Roman. Roman smiles back.

“I hate when you use my words against me,” he grumbles.

“Well, I guess you need to stop being right, then.”

“I thought I wasn’t right all the time, Roman. Admitting I’m right when you’re not, are you?”

“Hey- no, don’t you dare.”

“Don’t I dare do what?”

“No.”

They both break into laughter, yet again, and almost forget that they’re still holding hands.

“...can I hug you again, Roman?”

“I’ll do you better, specs. Let me finish the last bits of fixing this plot hole, and we’ll go cuddle and watch that crow documentary you wanted to see?”

Logan’s smile grows, “Okay.”

Roman plants a light kiss to his detective’s hand before he lets go and returns to his binder.

After he finishes writing, they do as promised. Roman summons away his pen and story binder, taking Logan by hand over to his room. He has a tv mounted on one of his walls, a remote on his bedside. He and Logan snap themselves into soft things and gather up on the bed, already summoning a few snacks and drinks. The Prince snaps, summoning a wipe and decides to clean the excess makeup off. They cuddle tightly together. Roman melts at how warm Logan is, and Logan feels reassured with Roman by his side. Roman clicks over to the crow documentary and presses play. As it starts, he leans his head against Logan’s shoulder. A small, fond smile tugs at the nerd’s lips.

They prove each other’s insecurities wrong and rest against each other for a while.

Friday at The Local

Fridays at The Local were usually crazy, but tonight promised to be something extra.

First, it was a blood moon. The eclipse started just after happy hour, which was not planned but surprised nobody, at least not the staff or regulars. Significant astronomical events always seemed to start, end, or reach their peak during happy hour. Once, a major conjunction coincided with a solar flare, just as the first rounds were being poured. The kraken’s beak hangs above the bar, the harpoon tip still lodged in it.

The bell above the door jingled. “Ty!” the other regulars shouted in greeting. They always stretch it out so it sounds like “Tiiiiieeeee!”

Any other night, Ty would return a jaunty salute before tossing her Royal Star Marine beret expertly onto the hat rack and sauntering to her favorite stool. Tonight, the beret stayed on Ty’s head until trudging steps brought her to her stool, then it collapsed unceremoniously onto the bar. Ty herself did a credible imitation of the beret as she slumped onto her stool.

“A pitcher,” she grumbled.

Momo gazed up at Ty with her usual Zen Master look. “Ask again,” she invited.

Ty scowled. “Not tonight, Momo. I’m not in the mood.”

Conversation had already become muted at Ty’s uncharacteristic entrance. At her rebuke of Momo, the only sound in the entire bar was a faint metallic ting of a pin against the floor. Dr. von Drake was delighted to finally test that idiom.

“That,” Momo replied, unruffled, “is why you need to ask again.”

The quiet words might as well have been cold water in Ty’s face. She blinked, and her scowl melted into contrition. “Sorry, Momo,” she offered. “My usual, please.”

Momo smiled, nodded, picked up Ty’s beret and sailed it across the room to its usual peg. “Better,” she judged, and signaled to Lilith to fill Ty’s order, “and tell Myke to send out a platter,” she added. “Now,” Momo prefaced as she turned her attention back to Ty, “what could have made you forget your manners?”

“Yes,” Acatl hissed as he sidled next to Ty, his desiccated features a rictus of concern. He adjusted his ornate golden collar, embossed with stylized snakes, as he leaned one elbow on the bar. “It must be something dire indeed, Sergeant, to dampen your irrepressible spirit. Let us help!”

Ty sighed. “Guess I knew I couldn’t come in here and keep it to myself,” she admitted. She swiveled her stool to face the room full of expectant, eager faces. “Let me have my usual,” she negotiated, “and I’ll spill it.”

“My cue,” Lilith sang, and shoved a flagon from her position at the far end of the bar. Everybody in between grabbed their drinks or plates to clear the vessel’s path, then replaced them once it passed.

Ty turned back to the bar in time to stop the flagon’s journey with her hand. She lifted it to her lips and, with a quick breath, drained the contents in one draught. “Apologies,” she offered to Lilith. “Figured it best to not keep folk waiting.”

Momo emerged from the kitchen carrying an oval platter piled high and steaming. “It’ll keep,” she promised, “while you spill your tea.”

Ty favored Momo with a grateful smile, then turned to the room once more. “I’ve been offered a promotion,” she announced. “A captaincy.”

A few patrons offered uncertain congratulations, but most of the tavern held their silence in anticipation of the other shoe’s descent. “The catch,” Ty obliged, “is that I have to get married.”

“How is that a problem?” queried XB7, a question mark on its faceplate. “You have a romantic unit. Does she not wish to be wed?”

“Oh,” Ty shook her head, “she’d love to! We’ve been planning on it for months!” Sadness weighed her features. “But she won’t do. Royal Star Marine officers have to wed nobility or royalty, and Mila’s as common-blood as, well, as me.”

“Ze solution is obvious,” Dr. von Drake stated. “Refuse ze commission.”

Frustration twisted Ty’s face. “I can’t!” she countered, voice near a shout. “Without an acceptable reason, refusing a commission merits a court martial!”

“What,” Acatl hissed, “would be an acceptable reason?”

Ty shrugged. “A lack of proper suitors,” she conjectured. “I really don’t know. I don’t think anybody does. The decision is up to the Legion Council. Nobody’s ever refused a commission before, at least there’s no record of it.”

“No sweat, dude,” Deke spoke up. “Do the wedding thing, and keep Mila too!” He grinned and nodded as his squad of surf ninjas clapped and cheered his ingenuity.

“I don’t want to marry anybody else!” Ty protested. “I just want Mila!”

“And your career,” Lilith amended.

“A conundrum,” analyzed Dr. von Drake, one finger tapping his bill.

Momo looked thoughtful. “Ty,” she spoke softly, “does your intended have to be of Federal nobility or royalty?”

“I… don’t think so,” Ty considered. “I read through the regulations, and they just state nobility or royalty.”

Dr. von Drake waddled over to Ty. “Do you haff a copy of zose regulations vith you?”

“Yes,” added Acatl. “I would like to peruse them as well, if I may.”

Ty produced an electronic tablet and held it out. The avian scientist and Aztec lich bent their heads over the screen in scrutiny.

Momo nodded. “Your Excellency!” she called, as she turned to a rear corner of the room. “Are you still with us?”

From the corner booth emerged a man of average height, with thick, dark hair and a heavy moustache and goatee. He wore a blue coat and slacks of vaguely military cut, with shiny buttons and fringed epaulets. On his head perched a top hat with a plume, but he doffed his headgear with a flourish as he approached the bar. “At your service, Momo!” he responded. “How may the Empire be of assistance?”

“We need a commission,” Momo told him. “The grander, the better. What can you offer?”

His Excellency harrumphed. “Why, whatever is needed!” he declared. “If the young lady is without kin, I can even declare her my adoptive daughter!” He turned to Ty. “Is she?”

Ty stared, mouth slightly ajar. “Um, I guess,” she replied. “Her parents died a couple years ago, in the war.”

“A war orphan!” His Excellency clapped a hand over his heart. “I would be honored to add her to my line!”

“Vell,” announced Dr. von Drake, “dere does not appear to be any restriction on vat sort of noble or royal title your spouse must claim.”

“And should it come to a question,” Acatl promised, “I will gladly offer my counsel to argue the point.”

Momo tapped Ty’s arm, and Ty jumped as if shocked. “Call Mila,” Momo directed. “We can even hold the ceremony here, if you like. Lilith can officiate.”

Lilith smiled and waved from the far end of the bar.

Ty looked as if she had just dismounted from a high-speed carnival ride. She offered no resistance as Momo plucked her phone from her pocket, found the proper listing, and tapped the screen before returning the device. The tavern held its collective breath as she lifted the phone to her ear.

“Hi, sweetness,” she spoke into the mic. “Can you come by The Local? There’s, um, there’s something we need to discuss. No, no, nothing bad.” She nodded. “Okay, good. See you soon.” Call ended, she looked at Momo. “She’s on her way.��

Momo nodded, then turned to the tavern. “You heard her,” she commanded. “Volunteers! We have a royal wedding to arrange!”

Two of Great American Family‘s major stars are teaming up for a new holiday movie.

TV Insider has learned exclusively that Candace Cameron Bure and Cameron Mathison will star in a new original holiday film, Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells. It will premiere in November as part of Great American Christmas 2024. The holiday event is in its fourth season.

In this upcoming film, Bure plays Gracie, who is Peachtree Inn’s perfect wedding planner and whose mantra, “No problems, only solutions waiting to be discovered,” makes blushing brides’ dreams come true. When Charlie (played by Mathison) brings his sister and future brother-in-law to their former hometown of Butler, South Carolina, expecting to create a magical Christmas Eve wedding at the Inn for Lindsay and Josh, the trio is stunned when Gracie stubbornly declines the job, saying it is not possible to pull off the perfect wedding two weeks before Christmas. Eventually, Gracie relents and agrees to plan the wedding, only to discover there are more hurdles to overcome than expected.

In addition to starring in Jingle Bells, Wedding Bells, Bure serves as an executive producer. Also executive producing the film are Holly A. Hines, Eric Jarboe, Jeffery Brooks, Ford Englerth, Gerald Webb, Paula Elle, and Trevor McWhinney. The film is produced by Mick MacKay. Supervising producers are Michael Shepard, Jonathan Shore, and Robyn Wiener. Serving as associate producers are David Oland and Trudi Thorwaldson. Anime and Manga Log [06/18/23]

This was a fairly busy week. There was a new series out of Weekly Shonen Jump, Black Clover movie, and the spring anime season is starting to finish up. Additionally a new JoJo chapter dropped. Plenty to talk about as always. Discussion and Spoilers for the following series below: Martial Master Asumi 1 [NEW] Do Retry 7 Cipher Academy 28 Tenmaku Cinema 10 365 Days to the Wedding 110 [END] Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King Dr. Stone New World (Season 3) 11 [Cour 1 END] Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc 11 [END]

Martial Master Asumi 1 [NEW] Kawada from Hinomaru Sumo returns with a series about mixed material arts. I didn’t read his previous series and I didn’t get into the anime either, but I thought it was cool that he survived for 5 years in Jump in the shadows of bigger hits. The first chapter was more dense than usual since they wanted to set up the MC and his family along with giving the audience some background to the sport in case they don’t know. Its a solid first chapter overall. My only nitpick is the bullies coming back over and over again was slightly annoying. Rather than the first chapter being a single string of events, it felt like a 2 act story with the school at the start then the Dojo in the back half. The art is great as expected for a Jump veteran. The opening color spread in particular is much more striking than you typically see. I’ll be looking forward to more. Do Retry 7 From the mangaka behind Bone Collection comes a boxing series that takes place during World War 2. He has improved substantially since his previous serialization in drawing, character writing, and clearly picked up techniques while working for Yusei Matsui. The first arc is a boxing match against someone who is in a similar situation to our protagonist where they’re in the sport to protect someone precious to them. However, he’s fallen off the path and became more and more obsessed with strength to prove his worth. The intensity of the match was crazy with Aozora taking punch after punch. I love how it culminates in finally closing the distance and delivering the finishing punch in return. That caps off the first volume with a W for our main character. Its hard to say if this series can stick around, but for the time being I’m enjoying it. Cipher Academy 28 This week we began the 3rd match of this class vs. class code battle. The theme is determining your ally from your enemy, or are they perhaps the same person, maybe neither? This question is presented to us in 2 different ways. Firstly, in the form of Yukako’s backstory. This is a 6 star puzzle because there can be no definitive solution to whether her actions were good or bad. The answer will depend on who you ask. Its a similar reason given for the previous 6 star puzzle from earlier in the series. Secondly, we get the question in a more literal form. Toshusai is presented with two projections of Yukako and has to determine who is the real one based on pure instinct. Its a question about how well can you know and trust someone. If she guesses correct that means our class got a clean 3-0 victory. That seems unlikely since Iroha still needs a turn. We shall see next week. Tenmaku Cinema 10 Unfortunately Tenmaku Cinema doesn’t appear to be catching on with Japanese readers. Could it be the abundance of movie themed stories like Sakamoto Days and Oshi no Ko? maybe readers aren’t fond of the mc using someone’s else work (similar to Time Paradox Ghost Writer)? or perhaps it just isn’t interesting enough? Personally I’ve been enjoying it quite a lot. This week’s chapter continues Shinichi’s tour and observation of Hinaki’s time on a professional movie set. Up to this point, I was thinking Hinaki resonated with the character in Tenmaku’s script. At least that’s how I made sense of why a top level actor would take on an amatuer project. But this chapter completely changed my perspective. Maybe there is some level of resonating with the character, but I think its a feeling of rivalry. She’s been isolated in the world of acting and suddenly a fellow student who is the same age comes along with a masterful script. Of course she is going to jump on that. I think Hinaki saw this is a personal challenge to bring the character to life in the best way possible. Its like she found someone who might be able to understand her. Lets hope the popularity can recover before its too late. 365 Days to the Wedding 110 [END] I’ve been a fan of Tamaki Wakai since The World God Only Knows days and I always believed it was a matter of time before they landed another hit. There was a bakery series that has some loose TWGOK references. Then came King of Idol about a crossdressing male idol trying to get in the industry. Both of those were cancelled after about a year of serialization. Wakaki then moved to the Seinin magazine Big Comic Spirts where he published 365 Days to the Wedding. The story is about a pair of introverts who dread the idea of potentially being transferred to another company branch in a foreign country, so they create a plan to pretend date. Over the course of the story, they come to realize how compatible they are. I had a good time reading the series. It was generally pretty funny and heartfelt from start to finish. Also refreshing to have a romance with a pair of working adults. I would say it ended maybe too soon, but I can’t complain about Wakai finally landing another hit finally after all this time. It will be getting an anime soon. I recommend it! [Final Score: 8/10] Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King After being delayed 3 months from its initial release date, the Black Clover movie was finally released on Netflix this past Friday. Shonen Jump movies often come in 2 different varieties. The most common is a 90 minute self contained story with heavy exposition to make it work in the short run times. They feel like a mini arc out of the manga. However, ever since Strong World a lot of Jump movies add to the existing canon. Black Clover belongs to the later category. The movie has very minimal exposition and quite honestly its all action from start to finish with only a small regroup period in the middle. The story is about the previous Wizard Kings coming back Edo Tensei style and wrecking havoc. They want to hard reset the world because each of them was wronged in some way during their time. Instead of providing extensive backstory for each one, the movie would rather show you the sheer speculate of their power. I thought that allowed the movie to progress at a brisk pace (just as the manga frequently does). A movie medium is a good choice to experience the power of the best in the Black Clover world. At the climax of the film each Wizard King comes to realize that the world is changing for the better, even if incrementally. It heavily reinforces the theme of Asta’s unwavering spirit and how he inspires those around him. This film is very much what a Black Clover movie should be like. I enjoyed it a lot and consider it above average for the Shonen Jump movie genre. Dr. Stone New World (Season 3) 11 [Cour 1 END] I don’t have much to say about this season, but just wanted to put down some quick thoughts. The animation is the same old stiff style, but at least the reaction faces are good. The manga story of this cour is very solid. Senku and the gang are finally on the move thanks to having a ship. First stop is the island where the the space shuttle originally landed. The goal is to confirm the existence of and recover the platinum left behind so they can make an unlimited amount of nitric acid. There is even the promise of learning something about how people turned to stone. Great arc and looking forward to the action packed second cour in October. [Final Score: 7/10] Demon Slayer Swordsmith Village Arc 11 [END] I’ve always had mixed feelings on the Demon Slayer anime. First, I am probably in the minority for not being a fan of Ufotable. I find their heavy computer CG style to be off-putting and boring. Its always flashy for the sake of flashy with minimal personality. However given that, I can still appreciate the work they put into the animation. Secondly, I don’t like how Aniplex splits up a story into its individual arcs as season labels. Demon Slater is particularly formulaic and that’s all the more obvious in this format. I think it loses all momentum when there’s only 11 or so episodes every year. Now for this arc, I remember liking it in the manga. Cool setting, another pair of Hashira to learn about it, and the usual backstories along the way. The arc concludes with Nezuko being able to stand outside in the sun without harmful effects. The anime version was such a slog. They pad out scenes and everything is muddled with Ufotable’s CG flair. In isolation from the rest of the story it offers very little to push the story forward until the very end. Demon Slayer works best when you get in the groove of the series over a long period. Next is the brief next training arc before everyone raids Muzan’s infinity castle. Just give me 4 cour please Ufotable, I’ll even take it split. [Final Score: 6/10]

Sometimes I think about all the theories about Hopper's daughter being connected to the lab but if Hopper knew about the lab because he brought Sarah to receive their help then why was he so surprised in season 1 when he discovered all the things about it, that wouldn't make sense... At most they could have faked Sarah's death without him knowing and then experiment on her but I don't see how that plot could be necessary, it seems overly complicated!

Another thing that I would find overly complicated are the multiple timelines theories, it's too much to put on the table in the last season especially because the show has been based in tangible actions and events until now even when what happens seems a bit fantasy like Max coming back to life it all goes back to the science behind it with El acting like that machine that makes the heart beat again because of her telekinesis etc so to make a jump of multiple timelines now it just changes the nature of the show too much

I think it's possible that some type of time travel is included but it must stay in the really simple type with maximum 2 timelines or a time loop that starts when it ends- like Vecna being sent into his own past when he dies for example, like him dying and transforming into the black mass of particles and then being sent back in time with the gate

The twin theories / lost or switched child could be possible imo but it would feel a bit cheap for the type of show for me, I think those are ideas that fit best a different type of show... They are fun writing choices that I do enjoy sometimes but they always make the show be soap opera coded when they use it and I don't really want that for Stranger Things... Even if star wars used it that's one of the things I personally don't like from that saga, same thing for the villain being related to the hero... I just think it makes things a bit weird even if I can accept it as a storyline it's not something I would want in this show specifically, my opinion is that it does make the quality decrease a little bit

The theories where everything is a dream or manifestation and stuff like this are awesome ideas when they are used for tragic / very serious shows but I don't think ST fits inside that category either

Now what I could see are things like:

The underdog getting all they want & becoming the hero because of their good heart

Love saving the day / true love's kiss

Found family winning together against the darkness because they love each other

Each character confronts their deepest fears in a series of visions and overcomes them

Lots of action fight scenes

Something kinda simple and funny ends up being the solution that kills/stops the monsters

People losing memories

Corruption arc & possession

"Corrupted" character tricks the villain that underestimated them

Love confession speeches / moments

Friendship/Family speeches

A big happy sequence of silliness after the villain has been defeated

Happy ending but with some losses

Reveal of secret magic abilities from the "weak" character

Death of a mentor figure + hero sacrifice

The lame character turns out to be badass

Fake death moment where they cut making you think someone died and then they come back last minute to save the day

Characters end up being disabled because of the fight / losing limbs etc

Sidekick characters arrive in a team as a back up when the battle seems lost

A character is related to one of the minor antagonists and that stops them from attacking

Multiple battles at the same time

The final BIG battle

Wedding proposal during a battle

The villain gets finished off by their own creature

And many other ideas that I can't remember now but that fit the vibe of the show more than the others imo 🌈

months before turning thirty

let's preface my english is atrocious but i'm using this platform as an outlet and writing how i feel seems to help me release.

2023 was a mental health DECLINE, which i was hoping to leave behind but it has followed me into 2024..

do i feel guilty for feeling like this when others are going through way worse events in the world currently, YES! i should be grateful for the blessings i have but i'm also hyper aware of time and how little we have of it.

i have to my knowledge always been an independent individual, haven't had to consult or get permission for life choices i have made. i guess it was a slow realisation entering into my late twenties, where most tamil girls get scrutinised with the "are you not thinking to get married", that i've developed this guilt of not "accomplishing" this big chapter in my life. usually i don't let tasks on my life admin list just sit there outstanding, i get them done and dusted but this particular task requires more than just me and i'm struggling to deal with this

i have no honest answers or solutions to “do u want ur appa at the wedding” or “what if your appa turns up at the wedding” or “go speak to your appa about it”

i have had zero contact with appa since April 2016. it got to a point where amma’s life was on the line so there was no other choice but to exile him from our lives.

do i wish my appa had more patience? YES do i understand how challenging it is to do life with my amma? YES! i’m not trying to defend my appa’s violent actions but maybe i do understand how he got to this breaking point. on reflection i do feel like i can easily empathise with men than women but i don't have an explanation for why.

thambi means more to me than those to ever have and thambi does see it as more black and white. he doesn’t want appa in his life anymore and granted he did the heavy lifting of protecting amma, i don’t blame him for feeling/thinking this way.

i tend to block negative and even some positive events in my life as some sort of coping mechanism to keep me going. being a water sign (not hardcore into astrology or numerology but can give it more time than religion) i wasn’t much of crier growing up, which baffled the horoscope enthusiasts lol but 2023 really broke down my walls more (even though 2016 should have been what broke me). i think i was actually faced with what i was to do with my life instead of just living day to day.

i found my right person to do life with back in 28th August 2021 (the date is special as that number followed us in previous years). he doesn’t take life so seriously as i do and he is has much more patience than i do so i believe we compliment each other well. where i lack he fulfils and vice versa but i’ll save more of this for the vows (cringing). i think subconsciously i was hoping for a great relationship with his family as my amma doesn’t have her own and given what’s happened, it doesn’t seem like my appa’s side wants to continue contact, which obviously breaks my heart because i don’t see why thambi and i should face the consequences of my parent’s actions.

so the “in-laws to be” - have they known about our relationship for two years and still need time to accept a love marriage, YES! have they finally agreed to meet up for the first time but keep pushing it back because it isn’t a good "time" according to the stars, YES! they think we’re rushing to get married tomorrow and my amma wanted me married off yesterday so she can live her life as she pleases. “mother in law to be” says they’re not against us but wants us to be more understanding of that accepting people they don’t know (i.e not in their circles) takes time for them, whereas my amma just wants us married “kalyanam vaisu vanthathadu” ..

i think my last try of resurrecting a relationship with amma back in the summer of 2023 was a failure, as she came back to london with even more energy of getting me married of, which led to a fast-tracked proposal out of pressure. if the husband and children she so wanted doesn't bring her happiness then i just feel like there is no hope reconciling with her and i don't feel like i will have regrets over this.

just realised im writing this in april 8 years after my parents separation. i can’t do what i did in 2016 and blaaze my way through life because i wasn’t facing my appa on a day to to day basis and could easily be ignorant to it? and just continue life without any sad feelings. i’m faced with two choices either to confront everyone and be vilified for it or keep quiet and ride this tsunami of emotions till maybe i reach my breaking point??
