TASK 001: INTRODUCTION ⸻ SKEETER HIGGENS
( pete davidson, twenty-nine , agender, he/they ) — Look who it is! If you take a look at our database, you’ll find that SKEETER DAWSON HIGGINS III is a PLUMBER that works in SECTOR 3. According to the file, they’re a mutant with the power of REGENERATIVE HEALING FACTOR. That must be why they’re BOLD and SELF-PITYING. If you ask me, they remind me of âťť IGNORING THE POSSESSIVE AND SLIGHTLY ANGRY REMINDER THAT IT’S BROS BEFORE HOES IN EVERY SENSE OF THE SENTIMENT, SMOKE RINGS SPIRALING OVER A CLOUDED MESS OF WORRIES AS HE RIDES IN THE PASSENGER SEAT LIKE THE SCRUB HE IS, AND THE LOUD KICK DRUMMING OF A POP PUNK TUNE BY A PAIR OF TRASHED AND SCRIBBLED OVER CONVERSE WHERE ONE OF THE PINKY TOES STICKS OUTâťž. They are affiliated with NOBODY.Â
PINTEREST — PLAYLIST — INTRO ( COMING SOON ) —STATS
questionnaire:
how do they feel about living in sol city? have they always lived there or did they travel from another settlement?
skeeter likes sol city unironically- in a "this is a good spot to raise children with a future wife" type of way which he doesn't admit out loud. he likes sol city more than the settlement he previously moved from which says enough.
do they trust the council's leadership? why or why not?
skeeter thinks he has no reason to NOT believe the council's leadership. you could say he lacks the context clues to see what others can in regards to mistrust and such-
if they chose their sector and profession, why did they make that choice? if they didn't, why not? were they happy with their assignment or not?
it likely would have been the same sector, just different profession if he could have his way. in his last settlement he was a welder, but plumbing and welding both deal with pipes, so there was a bit of an overlap due to the city's needs. it's whatever, to him.
what's one object that they always keep on their person?
his lexapro- he's got the depresso that sometimes renders him incapable of leaving his bedroom.
questionnaire ( mutant vers ):
what is your character's ability (or abilities)?
regenerative healing factor
are they gen i or gen ii?
gen ii
what can your character do? what are their strengths?
mutation based - the ability to automatically and rapidly heal for any physical damage and regrow lost or damaged tissues, organs, and/ or limbs. regeneration / healing factor is a process that happens unconsciously without the need for activation, resulting in a constant state of near optimal health. personality based - patience, brutal honesty and he's just really tall, tbh ( 6' 3")
what can't they do? what are their weaknesses?
mutation based - die, much to his chagrin ( this causes big existential dread & mental instability of course )- it makes surgical procedures nearly impossible & healing does not include pain suppression, so everything still really fucking hurts. regeneration also increases nutrition requirements so he's literally always hungry. severe enough damage can still pose a serious threat, and he can be overwhelmed by potent or sustained attacks. sometimes healing can also take days/weeks depending how bad the wound is. personality based - as confrontational as a new yorker, general deviousness, impulsivity & inconsistent motivation

Finding A New Home
Chapter 7:New Friends in Odd Places
Chapter Master List
Kickback was still satting squat on the Runaway’s thrusters when the sun began to rise. She had kept herself there, cold and alone, trying to figure out what to do next. She had split her processor in half, then fourths, then eights trying to calculate the best option. None of what she came up with was particularly good. Of course it didn't help that she had been running in low power mode all this time. Â
Kickback wasn’t one to maintain a rigid recharging schedule. She charged when she needed it, which was often due to how much she liked to fly. This wasn't an issue in Nema town, where every bot worth their bolts had a charging station on stand by. But now out here in the wilderness, with no company but the rolling wind that swept by, Kickback felt very foolish.Â
She had been floating around half charge when she first launched. Through all the chaos, she was down to single digits. All noncritical functions were shut down. There was no sight, there was no touch, there was no smell. Another bot could perch on top of her, and Kickback would have no idea.Â
The only sense Kickback allowed herself was sound. The bright fires that pounced as she crashed had died down to a dull simmering crackle. A deep powerful wind howled along the flat scorched earth. It whipped up small funnels of dirt that spiraled into oblivion.Â
For a brief self indulgent moment Kickback allowed herself to simulate what it would be like to ride the winds. She would fly, free as the sky, and soar over the land. She would swoop and dive, twist and turn, all the way home. She would land with a triumphant crash and Tony would applaud her with his many crowds. It was beautiful.Â
The small stumps of Kickback’s wings sparked.Â
Suddenly, there was a new sound, faint and distant, but clear to Kickback audio receptors. A peppy and happy melody, that would remind human readers of old polka music. The song softly sang to itself in the far distance. Just behind the music was the roar of an engine, as it sputtered to its own off kilter beat. The music grew louder and louder, as whatever was singing rumbled closer and closer.Â
Kickback quickly turned her optics back on, and spotted the noisy truck that drove towards her. The truck that approached was what one should expect a noisy fuel inefficient vehicle to look like. A wide and boxy thing that resembled a camper, held high above the ground by four enormous tires. Many pipes stuck out the back, billowing black smoke as it went.
Kickback was certain Hank would dislike whoever was driving this.Â
It felt like hours had passed by the time the truck arrived. It circled the wreckage twice, then a much slower third time, before coming to a rolling stop. The windshield of the truck unlatched and flipped open, and a strange bot popped out.Â
She had long mismatched arms, and relatively short legs. The combination made her look awkward and squat. She was covered in dents and weld lines, and her head was a wide pronounced mohawk of bristles. “That’s one heck of an entrance.” Called the mohawk bot, in a low scratchy voice.Â
Kickback was silent for a time, trying to collect herself. “You saw me crash?” Â
“How could I miss you? You lit up the sky like a firework.”Â
“I crashed hours ago.”
“Yes, and I had some business to do. I don’t run on your schedule, you know.”
The new bot lept from her truck, and began circling the Runaway herself. She would’ve had issues walking with her stubby legs, except she didn't use them. She walked with her arms, while her “feet” dangled in the air. Somehow, she was still taller than Kickback, a fact she took minor offence to.Â
The mohawk bot began poking and prodding at the exposed wiring. The Runaway’s body sparked. She peered down into one of the new holes and marveled. Â
“What are you doing?” Kickback snapped. She hated being ignored. Kickback jumped down from the thruster, and fell to the ground with a soft thud. Her stabilizers failed and she stumbled for a time. “Stop poking my ship.”
“Oh, this is your ship?” The bot said, still poking it. “How much do you want for it?”   Â
Please understand here that bots have no concept of money. To this day they prefer the trade of goods and services rather than currency. A bot’s word is far more important than a slip of paper or a shiny coin. In that regard you could call them naive, or if you are the cynical type, which is not appreciated, stupid. Whatever the case, bots are trusting by nature, and if a promise is made, it is to be kept. (hopefully after learning this you can understand why Ace was so cross with Clanker).Â
“You want to trade for it?” Kickback leaned forward. Her hopes grew for a moment. “Does that mean you can fix it?”Â
“Fix it? No no. This thing? Nope.”
Kickback’s hopes were dashed in a moment. “Well then why do you want it?” she said, perhaps a bit too angrily than she meant to.Â
“I run a museum. This looks like a good centerpiece.”Â
“Well, I won’t trade it. This ship is very useful to me.” lied Kickback. She turned away and tilted her head disinterested. Her batteries grew ever closer to empty. “So unless you’ve got something good, get out of here.”
“What do you want for it?”
An alert told kickback she would shut down in 5 minutes. “Repairs!” she blurted out, drooping the act immediately. Then added just as quickly “And to recharge!”Â
The mohawk smiled. “Really? Is that all?”
Kickback thought for a moment, then realized she didn’t have the time. “And a ride home! And paint if you have it. And-”Â
“Fine, fine! Whatever you want.” The mohawk bot laughed. “You're more desperate than I expected. Let's just get you fixed up first and we can sort out the details. I’m Seu-Ten, by the way.”Â
Seu-Ten extended one of her feet as if it were a hand. Kickback glanced at her for a while, then grabbed it with her hand and shook. Seu-Ten smiled and made her way back to the truck. “You need to work on your trading skills.”
“I could have asked for more?”
Seu-Ten laughed again, and hopped into the truck. “Sweetie, you can always ask for more.” she reached down for Kickback, and pulled her into the truck as well. “It's another point altogether if you can actually get it, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.”
The inside of the truck was not a typical vehicle. Instead it had been converted into a mobile home. A wobbly old table rested in the center, flanked by two mismatched chairs, and a couch that had been folded into a workbench. Strings of twinkling lights ran the length of the walls, and bathed the room in a pleasant warm glow. It was nice here, though very cramped, even for one bot.Â
Kickback took her place at the table, as Seu-Ten began digging through crates that had been thrown in the corner. Scrap, wire, nuts, and bolts. Replacement parts were dumped into the space that wasn’t already taken. Arms, legs, fingers, feet, and the occasional torso.Â
Kickback’s optics glanced to the front of the truck, where rows of glass containers piled on the floor. She didn’t recognize anything in Seu-Ten’s collection, but human readers would immediately notice a collection of oblong white poles painted with red stripes, and recognise these as bowling pins. Of course these were not bowling pins, as bowling is a human game, however the concept was very similar.Â
Other items in Seu-Ten’s collection that readers would somewhat recognize would include lunch boxes, toasters, a large woven hat, and a small collection of plastic that resembled a melted toy.Â
“I see my collection has grabbed you fancy?” said Seu-TenÂ
“Yes. What are they?”
Seu-Ten fiddled with some wires that dangled from the ceiling. She handed one of the larger ones to Kickback, who plugged it into her charging port, and began to siphon electricity away from the vehicle's battery. Kickback took note that she could only charge while she held the wire at an odd angle. It was low voltage electricity, bitter, and it felt prickly as it coursed through her system. But Kickback knew better than to complain.
“Artifacts!” Seu-Ten said, as she flipped open one of the containers. She fiddled with the melted toy, ratcheting its stubby limbs to make it look like it was mid stride. “I’ve been trying to learn about the organics that came before us.” she explained, handing the toy to Kickback.Â
Kickback perked up. “Do you know what happened to them?”Â
“Not a clue. For all I know a super virus breezed through and wiped them all out.” Kickback felt very vindicated, and somehow incredibly scared at the same time.Â
Seu-Ten found her welding equipment, flipped down her built in blast helmet, and began repairs. Kickback’s operating system stuttered for a moment as the wires connecting her right arm were soldered back into place. Her processor ran a quick check of her frame, and shot back waves of damage reports. Kickback dismissed them all, and tried to focus on the bot in front of her, happily chatting to herself.Â
“Did you build that ship yourself?” asked Seu-Ten, paying no mind to her guest. She quickly jumped to Kickback’s torso, welding together the large gashes that ran its length. As she worked, Kickback began to recount her story. How Hank had made fliers for a “Spaceship design contest”, and how he got into a long and heated argument with Ace the construction bot.Â
Kickback remembered how Tony would disappear for days on end, just to come back with computer parts and scrap. Tony never explained where they got the parts, but Kickback always suspected that they raided the old warehouses outside of Nema town. A dangerous, and lonely task. Â
She had been there through it all. The ups and downs of building the ship. The stress of finding parts that worked together. The annoying process of disassembly and reassembly when the ship didn’t work. She had been there through it all, and helped through the majority of it. Yet she hadn’t considered how much work, time, and effort was put into the Runaway. Even Meckatronix can get lost in the moment, and forget how far they’ve come.
Kickback found herself getting emotional. She wished she had considered all that effort and time when she snuck out to take the ship for a spin. It was just a small flight. Out and back home again. And yet, it might have cost her everything.Â
She hadn’t thought it through. She just acted. What a waste.Â
“I wouldn't say that.” mumbled Seu-Ten from under her helmet “You spent time with bots you loved. And if you do that, time is never a waste.”Â
“It's all my fault though,” Kickback insisted. “We built this great ship together, and I ruined it all!”Â
“Did you intend to break it?”
“No. But I still did. Hank is gonna hate me now!”
Seu-Ten let out a muffled chuckle. “Well, clearly you feel bad about it, you do feel bad about it right?”
Kickback gave a small nod, and sank deeper into the chair. “I’m sorry. I really am sorry.” Her frame shook. If only she could cry.Â
“Well then I won’t lecture you. What I will tell you is if he’s a friend, a real friend, then he won’t hate you. He might be mad, but he will forgive you.”
“But I still messed up…”
“Of course you did. Admit that to him, and admit it to yourself. Then do better in the future. That's all any of us can do. ”Â
Kickback went quiet again, and she would remain so until repairs were done. Soon her frame was patched up, though it hardly resembled its old self. It wasn’t sleek or smooth, but lumpy and scratched, and jutted out at awkward angles all over. New weld lines ran her entire length, from the top of her head, to the bottom of her feet.Â
Kickback hobbled over to a mirror. “I look terrible,” She said. She wasn't wrong.
“Oh, be kind to yourself. You look lovely.” Â
“Tony won’t let me live this down,” Kickback muttered to herself. She raised one arm, and it made an awful scraping noise that shuttered through her. Â
“Well if you think you can do better, be my guest.” Laughed Seu-Ten. She set the welding tools down on a table and made her way to the front of the truck.Â
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude. I’m just worried.” Kickback began rotating one of her legs, and it made the same scraping as before.Â
“No harm done.”Â
With no time to waste, Seu-Ten grabbed a sign post and began to scribble on it. And just as quickly she scrambled out of the truck, and planted it next to the crashed ship: “PROPERTY OF SEU-TEN. TO BE COLLECTED AT A LATER DATE” Satisfied, Seu-Ten climbed into the driver's seat, marked the ships location on her map, and rolled the engine to a start.Â
“So where am I taking you?”
“Do you know where Saxon Scrap yard is?”
“No clue.”
“Nema Town?”
“Nada.”
“Ah spawn of a glitch.” Kickback swore.Â
“Tell you what, I’ll take you back to my place. That way you’ll at least have a roof over your head.”
Kickback grumbled, but agreed. This was much better than being alone in a field, even as the truck began to rumble and shake. Kickback squeezed in between some of the shelves, and held on tightly.

Manufacturing Process, Grades and Quality of Welded and Seamless Pipes
Piping systems are vital in industries like construction, oil and gas, and plumbing, as they transport fluids, gasses, and chemicals. Two commonly used pipe types are welded and seamless pipes. Each type has unique manufacturing processes, applications, and material grades, making it crucial to choose the right one based on project needs. Let’s explore the specifics of each type to understand their quality, durability, and uses.
Seamless Pipes: Superior Strength and Reliability
Seamless pipes are manufactured without any seams, making them stronger and more resistant to pressure and corrosion. Their seamless structure is achieved through an extrusion process that produces pipes without welding, making them ideal for critical applications where durability is paramount.
Manufacturing Process:
Step 1:Â A solid steel billet, often made from API 5L or ASTM A106 grades, is heated and pierced to create a hollow tube.
Step 2:Â The hollow is elongated, shaped, and heat-treated for increased durability.
Step 3:Â Quality control includes rigorous hydrostatic tests and eddy current testing to ensure structural integrity.
Applications:Â Used in high-pressure environments like petrochemical industry, power plants, and chemical processing seamless pipes offer unparalleled resistance to stress and corrosion.
Welded Pipes: Manufacturing Process and Types
Welded pipes, widely used for large-diameter, moderate-pressure applications, are fabricated by welding steel plates or strips. The two main types of welded pipes, Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) and Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded (LSAW) are available in butt-weld and spiral-weld configurations. Butt-weld pipes have a straight seam created by aligning and welding the edges directly, offering high-pressure capacity and uniform strength along the pipe. Spiral-weld pipes, in contrast, are formed with a helical seam, where the edges are welded in a spiral pattern, allowing for greater flexibility and larger diameters, making them well-suited for applications requiring robust structural integrity and lower pressure handling.
Manufacturing Process:
Step 1:Â A steel coil, often graded as ASTM A53 or A252, is rolled into a cylindrical shape.
Step 2:Â The seam is welded using various methods such as Electric Resistance Welding (ERW), Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welding (LSAW), or Spiral Submerged Arc Welding (SSAW) for spiral welds.
Step 3:Â The welded pipe undergoes annealing to improve flexibility and toughness, followed by Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) to ensure quality.
Types of Welded Pipes:
1. ERW (Electric Resistance Welded):Â Commonly used in automotive, water supply, and plumbing systems, suitable for lower-pressure applications.
2. LSAW (Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded):Â Ideal for large-diameter pipes used in high-stress settings like oil and gas pipelines.
Quality Comparison Between Seamless and Welded Pipes
Which grade will suit your project perfectly, be it seamless or welded pipe?
Selecting the right pipe grade is essential to match project demands. Welded pipes offer cost efficiency for low-pressure uses, while seamless pipes provide strength and durability for high-stress, corrosive environments. The right grade within each type can further optimise the pipe’s effectiveness, tailored to specific industrial needs and environmental conditions.
ASTM A53 (Welded):Â Best for low-pressure systems and structural applications, Grade B in ASTM A53 offers moderate tensile strength (minimum 60,000 psi) and is commonly used in plumbing and water distribution systems. Its material composition carbon-manganese steel provides suitable durability for residential and commercial pipelines without requiring heat treatment.
ASTM A252 (Welded): Known for structural integrity, Grade 3 is ideal for piling in construction projects. With a yield strength of up to 45,000 psi, A252 pipes support heavy loads, commonly used as driven piles in foundations and retaining walls. The material’s high resistance to deformation under load makes it suitable for bridge foundations and other structural supports.
API 5L (Seamless):Â For high-stress oil and gas pipelines, Grade X52 provides superior tensile strength (minimum 66,300 psi) and excellent fracture toughness. API 5L X52 pipes are often used for long-distance hydrocarbon transport due to their high-pressure capacity and controlled low-carbon composition, which improves ductility and weldability.
ASTM A106 (Seamless): Designed for high-temperature service, Grade B in ASTM A106 is widely used in refinery and boiler piping where thermal endurance is crucial. Withstanding temperatures up to 750°F, it is often employed in steam lines due to its resistance to thermal expansion and creep under prolonged heat exposure.
ASTM A335 (Seamless): For extreme high-temperature and high-pressure applications, Grade P22 is a chrome-moly alloy used in power generation and petrochemical applications. This grade’s high chromium (2.25%) and molybdenum (1%) content provides exceptional corrosion resistance and stability, making it ideal for superheated steam service in thermal power plants.
Understanding the differences between welded and seamless pipes goes beyond simply choosing a type; it’s about aligning your choice with the specific demands. Factors like Pipe Fittings Manufacturing Standards and Types are crucial in determining which option best suits the pressure, durability, and safety requirements of your application. From the economical versatility of welded pipes in general applications to the robust integrity of seamless pipes in high-stress industries, each type plays an important role in the industrial landscape.

High-nickel stainless steel alloys offer exceptional performance in demanding environments due to their superior corrosion resistance, high-temperature strength, and durability. These alloys, often containing significant amounts of nickel, chromium, and other elements, are widely used in industries such as aerospace, chemical processing, and marine applications.
For example, high-nickel stainless steel grade: 316L is highly resistant to corrosion, making them ideal for applications exposed to harsh chemicals and saltwater. Other alloys, such as 600 monel and 800 nickel, excel in high-temperature environments, providing excellent creep resistance and oxidation resistance. These alloys are commonly used in power plants, refineries, and other industries where components are subjected to extreme heat and pressure.
By combining the properties of stainless steel and nickel alloys, these high-nickel stainless steel alloys provide a reliable and long-lasting solution for a wide range of demanding applications.
