Finally doing this! I am eternally grateful to @mirilyawrites for the tag!!!
Rules: post the top 5 works you're most proud of that you released in 2022 (not necessarily your most popular), your top 4 current WIPs that you're excited to release in the new year, your top 3 biggest improvements in your writing over the past year, your top 2 resolutions (ways you wish to improve your writing blog) for the new year, and your number 1 favorite line you've written this year!
Top 5 works I'm proudest of:
The Bored and the Furious (Sylki, E) mostly for my realistic sadist Sylvie
The Beauty And The Grace (Sylki/Lokius, M) because it was deeply personal and the first multi chapter fic I've ever done
In the face of certain doom (Sylkius, E) because it's so emotional and for the longest time I struggled with the setup
(Can't get) Away From This Love Affair (Sylki/Lokius, E) because I think it's so unique and very different from the rest of my work up to that point, and because it has my first (tiny, shitty) fight scene
Nothing But Time (Lokius, E) because I feel like I really captured a lot of what drew me to the ship in that one
Top 4 current wips l'm excited about:
-my fanfic of @dewdropreader's fanfic!
-Lokius body worship fic (aka I'm super horny for the Mobius tummy so Loki needed to be, too)
-the Lokius reunion kiss fic that is somehow both all there in my head and fighting me tooth and nail at the same time
-the sequel to my angstfest It Wasn't You (which is literally just more angst, please don't expect any resolution)
Top 3 improvements in my writing:
-I branched out a TON with what kinds of fics I wrote! From mostly just PWP to fluff, angst, humor, /reader, and more.
-I got more confident taking risks with things like figurative language, more 'artistic' formats, etc.
-this might sound weird, but I got more comfortable with using pronouns with scenes involving two characters with the same pronouns. I used to do that thing where I would avoid two 'he's in the same sentence, for fear of confusing the reader. But it always felt clunky. I got comfy with the idea that the reader is intelligent enough to figure it out in most places, and I think my writing flows so much better now.
Top 2 writing resolutions:
-finish some of these older WIPs that are all but abandoned 😅
-write or continue to write for other, non-Loki fandoms
(Possibly killing two birds with one stone by finishing off that nearly 15 year old Sparrabeth WIP 😂)
Number 1 favorite line:
To be honest, probably a toss up between these two:
Into these two precious entities who hold him, who behold him, who have taken him apart and put him back together so many times there’s not a single cell of his body, a grain of his soul, they’ve not seen and held and turned over in their hands in reverent examination before replacing it, all of it, exactly as it was. Exactly as he is.
-Parts of one whole (Sylkius, M)
That this man, who in reality was nothing more than ordinary and mortal, had taken the time to open him up, peeling back layer after layer, exposing him, digging deep, reaching down inside and holding his heart in his hands; that he had done all of that and seen him laid bare, seen all of him, and had stayed, had asked him to stay, had deemed him worthy; that for some reason, Loki had let him, had felt him chipping away at his defenses and allowed it; had offered up his heart for the taking and felt it safer, even, in Mobius’s hands than in his own.
-Nothing But Time (Lokius, E)
And they're basically the same exact sentiment 😂 But so accurate!
Tagging absolutely anyone who wants to do this of course but also @playinggalaga @chaos-monkeyy and @andy-skull!

;; Rules
• Hi, I’m Tobi! But you can also call me “Ankles”. 21+. she/her. straight/ace.
• This blog will be heavily based on the original POTC trilogy as that’s what I’m most familiar with.
• No Godmodding, No IRL Drama, No Hate, you know the drill.
• Selective. 18+. Literate. Selective & Mutual Prioritized (NOT Mutual Exclusive!). Multimuse/OC Friendly (bio required). Elizabeth doubles welcome (let Mama Swann love you!)
• Askbox is open to EVERYONE! Got a burning question to ask? A challenge? A comment? A meme? Don’t be shy!
• Icons not required, I write mostly small/multi-para. Icons I use are from hollow-art / tumblr / imagesbyele-moved.tumblr.com/kalipinna.tumblr.com, or my own.
• Steamy passionate moments are fun - but no smut please. If that ever happens, it will fade to black.
• Multiverse.
   Crossovers & AUs welcome!!
Elizabeth is such a boss character I want to throw her into a bunch of different adventures on the high seas & on land.
Same with Margaret (Elizabeth’s mother & Weatherby’s wife). She’s a canon based original character, and once you get to know her, she’s a lot of fun imho. (bear with me I’m trying to get all her info together in one place!)
Plotting via IMs & winging things are welcome!
• Multiship.
Super open to ships - Chemistry + Pre-Established. I’ll never force a ship on you, and expect the same. (Norribeth, Sparrabeth, & Willibeth welcome!)
• Casual RPer.
Been rping on tumblr for so long you might as well call me grandma.
As my username is taken from the POTC Blooper Reels, I’m into a lot of humor & in-character shenanigans on my blog! Silly things, crack ships.
RPing is fun. If you message me ‘A Pirate’s Life For Me’ indicating you’ve read my rules I’d really appreciate it. (Optional)

Sparrabeth + 4 ♥
Aah! Okay:
Birds of a Feather. I mean. Sparrow and Swann. Snarky, devious but oddly honorable pirates who see right through each other. Peas in a pod, darlin’.
Always Save The Girl. Which is not generally my favourite trope, but in this context it’s interesting because... Yeah.
Campfire Character Exploration. Good ol’ Rumrunners’ Island.
Duel of Seduction. a.k.a. good 40% of Dead Man’s Chest.
Everyone Can See It. a.k.a. another 40% of Dead Man’s Chest.
Belligerent Sexual Tension. a.k.a. 80% of Dead Man’s Chest and a good percentage of the other two films in the trilogy.
Fool For Love/Ladykiller In Love. Poor Jackie. (Seriously, you can’t tell me that was some fleeting lust or infatuation, dude’s life and freedom were at stake in a very real way.) Which naturally leads to...
Terrible Pick-Up Lines. And Wacky Marriage Proposals.
Inconvenient Attraction, indeed.
Held Gaze. Subversively occurring after the...
Tumblr media
Big Damn Kiss. Also known as the Kiss of Death. And kind of a Now or Never Kiss. Not to forget the Almost Kiss earlier.
Flight of Romance. Or a bittersweet subversion of it, anyway. Appropriately enough.
Plus so many things I don’t even have a name for but deserve to be tropes in their own right. Like the fond pride he takes in her even when he should hate her guts for tricking him to his death. Or her giddiness at being desired by her childhood hero. Or how he pulled her out of the sea and set her free. Or the gentle, wistful humor of their final farewell. Or... you get the picture. :D

Exactly! There were so many meaningful looks between them, that spoke louder than words. And all this talking about what could *should* have been... it all hurts even more. And reading sparrabeth fanfics, I honestly can't decide if it's helps soothe the pain or if it makes it worse, seeing all those creative ways to J/E what they deserved.
LOL! It does not go without saying that if you shipSparrabeth, it is an angsty ship! LOL! However, from a Sparrabeth Fan Ficwriter’s point of view, writing about it was cathartic for me. It helped me expressand release all those pent up feelings and ‘wants’ of what I selfishly wanted to see happen, or my perception of what thatamazing couple deserved as a loving pair. I have been doing it for 12 years and it is still not out of my system! LOL! I am not a prolificwriter, meaning I have not produced many Sparrabeth stories, but the ones I have writtenare all heart….and done with some humorous fun too.
My perspective as a reader of Sparrabeth FanFic, I foundinitially was a relief for me. I was always a writer, but shocked when I cameupon the world of Fanfic writing. I immersed myself for a few years in many SparrabethFanFics before I adopted the mantle myself. I have not stopped, so I assume it isonly a temporary Band-Aid until the writers wake the F-up and do something tocorrect the wrong they have committed.
I say to each his own. I personally find FanFics as a temporaryway to relieve the angst and anger I had over how Sparrabeth was handled. IMHO, Disney executives and the writers just allowed it to happen because of the money. Othersprefer to avoid reading anything like that because Sparrabeth Fan Fiction brings back those angryand upset feelings. That is an individual call we need make forourselves!
Me, I read and write whenever I can!   :)

skarletterambles tag index
This is nowhere near as organized or exhaustive as the one on my main blog, but it was time to attempt to organize this one, too.
Last updated 15 June 2020
Fandoms
Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire (I usually only tag the latter if it’s something that applies specifically to the books and not the TV show.)  Also note that I tag #game of thrones spoilers for the current/most recent season.  Jaime/Brienne = OTP!
Pirates of the Caribbean -- Sparrabeth = OTP and I will keelhaul anyone who says otherwise
Star Wars - Mainly general stuff, and just from the movies, not the extended universe.  Beware of porgs.
Star Trek -- Mainly the original series and Next Generation.
The Mummy -- I adore the movies with Arnold Vosloo and Brendan Fraser.  Imhotep/Anck-su-numun = OTP
The Blacklist - I stopped watching the NBC drama in 2017, but it was originally the reason I made this side blog. I shipped Keen2.
Harry Potter --  I’m pretty sure I’m a Hufflepuff.
Lord of the Rings and other Tolkeinness
Disney --  individual movies should be tagged with their titles, too
Note that I have another side blog specifically for Disney ducks.
The Sims - I go through phrases of Sims addiction a few times a year
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Redwall
Sailor Moon
Other Topics
U.S. Politics -- I’m liberal and think the Cheeto-in-Chief is horrible.
religion -- I’m a Christian in the sense that I actually try to follow Jesus’ teachings about loving my neighbors and treating others as I would like to be treated, because God made and loves every one of us, regardless of what we look like, where we came from, or whom we love.
asexuality -- I identify as gray ace
mental health / depression / anxiety (Yep, I’ve got those.  Unfortunately.)
science in general  / astronomy /  geography & maps
weather  / hurricanes /  tornadoes  /  volcanoes / natural disasters
aliens (includes those clever/funny “humans are weird and/or badass compared to aliens” posts)
cryptozoology  /   dinosaurs
I try to tag all animal photos as “animals” in addition to whatever kind of critter it is (e.g.  llamas).  See also cuteness overload.
history   / U.S. history  /  world history  /   current events
ancient Egypt  /  old newspapers
linguistics
Shakespeare / Jane Austen  /  literature humor  /  fairy tales
music
daydream  -  My daydreaming and positive visualization usually involves tropical beaches.
funny stuff - because apparently I had a brain fart and forgot the word “humor” exists...
graphic design fails / sign fails / grammar fails
This is a classic -- a tag for those posts that are especially memorable and probably spawned memes, but are next to impossible to find back later
fandoms / shipping / nonshipping / villains
Tumblr tutorials
books  /  writing  /  writing reference  /  original fiction  (See also my sideblog @kavrillia where I post about my original universe, although it really just exists for my own reference/amusement/brainstorming and probably won’t make much sense to anyone else)
I work in a library --  I usually post about that at my main blog under this tag, but sometimes it spills over here, too.
personal vent posts & personal anecdotes -  This blog is mostly for fandom stuff and reblogging other people’s posts, but once in a while I’ll get the urge to ramble about something personal.
This list is by no means exhaustive.  I tag the names of books, movies, television shows, celebrities, animals, locations and other random stuff, too.  There’s a reason this blog is called a “grab bag of geekiness.”  It’s meant as a place for me to save and collect content that I don’t want cluttering up my main blog, which is focused on Warcraft and dragons.  The 1600+ people who follow that one don’t want or need to see all the miscellaneous stuff I run across.  ;)

do you ever think about how much attraction and feelings jack and elizabeth have for each other and how important their impact have been in each other’s life
for starters, let’s begin from elizabeth’s point of view. in dead man’s chest, the only thing she keeps saying is how much she wants to find will and save him. so at the beginning, that’s where the compass points, towards the chest, and jack prepared sailing to this direction. but as the movie went on she starts feeling confused about what she REALLY wants. jack embodies freedom and piracy for her. and in a way, that’s what she really dreamed of, during her entire life. being free, on a ship, doing whatever she’s eager to and going wherever she wishes to be without receiving orders from anyone, freedom. there’s also this special connection they have, the flirting. but this teasing thing these two have is so heavy that she never had this with any other character. like, for real, sometimes you literally think they’re going to make up on that boat in front of the whole crew. so the compass, that shows you what you really want, worked perfectly fine. and it pointed in jack’s directions. two. fucking. time. like at this point it’s more of a confirmation than a revelation. she desperately wants to fight it, to deny it, but she can’t. the compass has spoken lol. and i’m not a superstitious kind of person but 👀
now let’s analyze jack’s point of view. at the end of dmc, when he realizes he has been trapped by elizabeth on his own ship, he doesn’t even feel hatred, he’s… amazed. amazed by this beautiful ‘sophisticate’ woman who turned out to be a real pirate. he doesn’t resent her. the man is about to die because that bitch chained him and left him there to be eaten by a giant octopus and he freaking SMILES because he’s proud of her. i mean, for real, that’s one of the most fucked up yet interesting thing i’ve ever seen in a fictional relationship. there are also so many other examples (that were formerly given in other rants here so i’m not gonna enumerate them) in awe that show how jack feels about her, how he sees her, and that was also very interesting because it showed the complexity of their dynamic. i’m going to talking about the new movie now because as much as i hate how they handled jack’s character i was pretty happy with the sparrabeth hints that we got. okay so i know the 'does mommy ever ask about me’ scene might seems too pervert and inappropriate (it actually was considering he was talking to henry, her son, lmao) but i liked it. and i’m probably biased because i would have given anything to hear jack mentioning elizabeth. what really disturbed me was how jack made sex jokes about literally any woman he crossed path with, especially carina and the comments he made in that undressing scene on the boat like please… no but it’s different with elizabeth because he has history with her. and i think a part of him tried to hide his disappointment when henry said 'no’ with (sexual) humor. and the moment henry tells him who his parents are and jack straight up responds with a look of repugnance on his face 'you’re the evil spawn of these two’ lmaooo you can literally feel the aversion he has for the will/elizabeth relationship. now let’s talk about the last scene, WHERE HE SEES WILL AND ELIZABETH KISSING AND SAYS 'WHAT A REVOLTING SIGHT’ OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND HE HAS THAT DISGUSTED LOOK ON HIS FACE I COULDN’T STOP LAUGHING like seriously how in the hell is he still jealous AFTER 19 YEARS OF NOT SEEING HER?? it’s just so obvious that he still feels something for her I’m bald

Okay here are my thoughts on pirates, and BOY do i have a lot
 (SPOILERS)
SO
- I kind of hated Jack’s character? I mean this was my main complaint about the whole movie. Not even taking Johnny Depp’s personal life into account, which is a whole other issue that I’m frankly considering separate from this movie, he was just a drunk pathetic fool. At the very beginning i was like WOW they're making this so over the top that they must be setting this up for a big Jack redemption. Like maybe the story will be about the movie addressing his patheticness and having him pull himself together. Like no? They didn’t do that at all. So it just made his continuous drunkeness incredibly depressing. What was once an amazing character is now a pathetic caricature.
- And on a related note Jack didn’t seem to care about ANYTHING. He didn’t react when for a moment it seemed like the Pearl had sunk (like he has literally almost died for the Pearl on multiple occasions!), and he just TRADED HIS COMPASS. He just let it go! That’s what led me to believe that it was going to be a redemption story because I couldn’t believe he would fall so low. He traded it for a drink. A DRINK.
-Okay also his humor was not humorous, and while Jack is most definitely a womanizer-type in the other films, he mostly just came across as creepy? If Jack/Johnny Depp continues to age and become more of a sad drunk, you can’t make the women he’s leering at remain 20 years old. These jokes seemed rather tasteless and out of place in a fun (family) adventure romp (which is what Pirates tends to try to be).
- Not to be picky, which this is, and I know that the casual Pirates viewer wouldn’t notice or care, but like they retconned SO MUCH. I really love Jack’s backstory with the Wicked Wench and the slaves and resurrecting the Pearl, but now that’s sort of invalid? Because the scene they showed us doesn’t fit that timeline at all. At first I was like Wow! They went out of their way to show us that this is the Wicked Wench! But then realized that it didn’t make any sense? And he got the compass from some rando instead of bartering it off Tia Dalma? Like I loved the young Jack scene in general because I really feel they captured the spirit of the character in the scene, but the fact that we then lost his entire backstory just soured it for me.
- I know everybody always says this but I completely agree: Geoffrey Rush is like the only one who still looks like he’s having any fun, and he’s the only one really pulling his weight. I thought his plot twist with Carina was dumb and forced, and frankly didn’t make much sense in the time line at all, but he as a character is always a delight regardless, which made it that much more annoying when he was killed off. It really didn’t pack the emotional punch that the were going for and just left me annoyed that he won’t be in future movies.
- Carina and Henry were both a lot of fun. Once again they were the obvious stand ins for Will and Elizabeth, but I didn’t mind because at least they were fun and interesting.
- Also I am a huge Beatles fan so while the Paul McCartney cameo was out of nowhere and super forced, I adored it.
- Okay, so Will and Elizabeth. This franchise is a huge trash can of, well, trash, but it really means a lot to me. The first movie is quite frankly a masterpiece, and one of the best adventure movies ever made, but as we all know, the rest aren’t exactly quality movies by any means. That said, these characters literally mean SO much to me and I still want them to be done right. That’s why Jack’s character was so heartbreaking to me, and why I’m about to get real picky about these two.
-Overall I was just thrilled to see them again, and honestly I could’ve jumped for joy over just seeing Keira Knightley’s face on the screen. I loved the scene at the beginning introducing Henry and having him go to see Will, and i loved the reunion scene at the end. I really wished their characters were given the time they deserved though. While I realize that Keira probably didn’t want to sign on for a speaking role and only agreed to do what was essentially a glorified cameo (and I so don’t blame her, I have so much respect for her as an actress), I wish they had given her at least a line. Like they had her, I just wish they used her. And with Will, obviously Orlando Bloom was willing to film some scenes and be a part of the movie, so why didn’t he interact with anyone else? I would’ve given ANYTHING to have a scene with him and Jack, or better yet all three of them. I mean we got Jack’s weird “that’s disgusting” line when he saw them reuniting from his ship, but that was just stupid and out of place. He left them on incredibly good terms and they’re his friends? Why did he act so weird when henry told him that they were his parents? It could’ve been funny if he then softened up throughout the movie and was like “oh hey you’re parents were actually pretty cool and I feel like I owe it tot hem to help you” or something, but that didn’t happen. All we got were some weirdly creepy lines that Jack made about Lizzie, and as a firm lover of Sparrabeth, I was frankly just offended. It’s the kind of ship that I would never have expected to be endgame, and I’m frankly not mad that they weren’t, but I feel so invalidated.
-also sidenote, I wish the other returning character had at least like made some comment about the fact that Henry was their kid? like Gibbs, Barbossa, and Jack ALL have a very detailed history with Will and Lizzie and none of them seemed to care at all that he was their kid? Like Barbossa you literally married them (and also tried to kill them on more than one occasion), you couldn’t have at least been like “oh the boy’s a turner? huh.”
- with Elizabeth, one of my favorite characters of all time, I just wish that we got some indication that she didn’t just sit there waiting for Will all these years. She was a pirate at heart, and became the literal LEADER of the pirates, but when we see her she’s still on that same island looking like she just left like a formal event? i mean she looked damn good don’t get me wrong, but it just wasn’t true to her character. Why would her child not even know the stories about her adventures with Jack? Why would he be so proper and scandalized by ankles of all things? Elizabeth i the kind person who would have taken great pleasure in telling him those stories and as a little girl who researched pirates herself and always admired adventure, you would think that she would be teaching him herself, or better yet, fighting alongside him to save her husband. Like I said, I was just thrilled to have her back because I truly thought this was character that we would never see again, but having her be there raised a whole lot of questions, and they could’ve at least implied a hell of a lot more in the minute she was on screen.
-Then I kind of loved the end credit scene, just because I never expected it to be Will and Elizabeth, and again I was just thrilled to have them on screen, but also found it weird and sort of confusing? Why would Davy Jones be back? And people keep saying that it’s hinting to the next sequel, which I really don’t think it is, because I mean Angelica’s credit scene with the voodoo doll clearly never went anywhere. It’s also kind of weird for the movie to even sort of hint at this being a potential plot for sequel because obviously it would require the Turners again, and I highly doubt either one of them would be willing to come back after this movie
-Overall I didn’t hate it and I liked it more than OST, mostly because this actually directly related to the previous movies, and I think casual fans of the franchise will like it just fine. My brother loved it and raved about how everything Jack did was “classic Jack” which made a small part of me die inside, but just as genuine fan and lover of these movies I don’t think it did any part of this franchise justice.

just some Sparrabeth ramblings and POTC 5 spoilers under the cut
OK I've shipped Sparrabeth since 2006.... like hard core every day of my life reading fanfic and hoping potc 3 would have a sparrabeth ending.
So after that disappointment I sorta realized it was never going to happen and even hypothesized that Johnny Depp might have hijacked the script / love story and gone in a different direction than the writers intended. there for giving audiences one thing when the script was already set in stone.
and since POTC 2 and 3 were filmed at the same time (and none of the actors really knew what the fuck was going on) I think the love story line was just fucked.
BUT to me at least, Sparrabeth is canon as fuck. and now we have more proof in POTC 5 when Jack asks about Liz. He’s truly convinced she liked him to still be vexed by his memory. which is probably just comic relief but still,,.... it’s there for a reason I think? AND then Jack goes on a rant about her hair and her giraffe neck lovingly remembering her. And proving he was always attracted to her. And I think, he really loved her.
especially since at the end he’s so put off by Will kissing her. which is more humor but also OF COURSE he’d be pissed since he’s reminded Liz never chose him. BUT Liz did use his feelings for her against him when she kissed him and tricked him into being shackled to a ship to die. which is still highly fucked and I'm mad her character turned into this bizarre conniving bitchy pirate king JUST to have her bend to the every whim of Will.
a woman like that is a pirate. and I think would only be happy w someone just has conniving and villainous.
So.... it will forever make 0 sense that Will and Liz are bloody “meant for each other” or whatever bullshit.
I just hope one day, maybe like 15 years from now, when another potc movie comes out, and Keira’s career is in a place where she would just begrudgingly accept another POTC main role - that someone out there will SEE THIS SHIT and have her and jack end up together and will can go back on the Flying Dutchman like bye

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers (◠‿◠✿)
Okay! I’ve been hanging onto this because I couldn’t think of another good way to divide my work up and do a fourth list. But! It occurred to me tonight that I could do top five non Doctor Who stories.
They’re all older, but I’m still proud of each one of these stories.
Hearts Aflame Howl’s Moving Castle, Howl x Sophie
When he meets a mouse in a darkened alley, that empty spot in his chest burns a little. What could that mean? The movie from Howl's POV.
More Than MemoryLord of the Rings, Aragorn x Arwen
Separated by tragedy, Aragorn and Arwen must learn important lessons about love and eternity before they can be reunited. The 12 Days of Christmas: A Sparrabeth Celebration Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack x Elizabeth (aka Sparrabeth)
Over the course of twelve years, each of the gifts in the twelve days of Christmas comes to mean something special to Elizabeth and Jack as their relationship slowly evolves.
The Impossible Dream Star Trek: Enterprise, Archer x T’Pol
After hitting his head, Archer believes himself to be a character out of one of his high school plays...
A Dame Like That and Doublecross Alias, Sydney x Vaughn Alias meets 1940s detective film noir... a little bit of AU, a little bit of humor, and a whole lot of scotch.

Sparrabeth ?
I actually had to look this up, lol. I am so out of touch with the POTC fandom.
It’s been a while since I’ve watched DMC and AWE, and as it happens that’s when the real Elizabeth x Jack stuff happens, so I can’t really give an informative meta on this, but here goes.
In the first movie (which is the one I actually take seriously), Will x Elizabeth is the ultimate OTP, no question. The only Sparrabeth undertones come from Jack, in a purely physical way (i.e. the rum-drinking scene after they get kicked off the Black Pearl), and the only follow-up to that being his golden “It never would have worked between us, darling” comment.
But in DMC (like I said, my memory is rusty, forgive me) there is one of the WORST LOVE TRIANGLE/QUARTET THINGS IN THE HISTORY OF CINEMA AND THE ONLY REASON I DON’T BARF IS BECAUSE THE FIGHT SCENES BETWEEN THEM WERE HUMOROUS. Not gonna lie. But honestly, POTC is so ridiculous I can never take anything 100% serious anyway.
In my opinion, Elizabeth has always been a free spirit–naturally, she is going to gravitate towards a compulsive wildcard like Jack. And I do like their dynamic, really. Elizabeth is hot tempered and pokes fun and Jack and he simply takes it, never disrespecting her as a woman, his remarks never going further than his usual “poke poke” behavior. He treats everyone that way. That’s Jack for you.
I can see why people ship them romantically, yes. I think they did love each other in their own way, but I love them together as a friendship. I think Will and Elizabeth compliment each other the best–ISFJs and ESFPs tend to work well together, as opposed to an ENTP and ESFP, but ENTPs work well with so many times of people, it’s freaking unnatural (at least for an INTJ-type like me, lol.) ;)
If I actually remembered the movies I might be more of a Sparrabeth person, as opposed to the Morally Pure Shoe-horned Will x Elizabeth. But for now I see them as friends.

Fandom Fic Rec Days - My Top 15
I’d been meaning to make some sort of fic rec list for a while, so when I saw @barduil’s post about Fandom Fic Rec Days (Feb. 10-12), I finally did it!
This started as a top 10, but I couldn’t narrow it down enough and so settled for 15(-ish). I tried to keep some semblance of variety, though many of these are still for POTC and Star Wars. I hope you all enjoy these! If you read any off my list, you should tell me what you think and go give the authors some much-deserved love.
Fandoms included in this list: Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, and Marvel.
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
“Mutiny On The Dauntless” by Marnie - Governor Swann and Lieutenant Norrington narrowly skirt disaster at the hands of a ruthless captain and dangerous crew on the crossing from England. [19k+. No ships but the floating kind. TW: minor character death, naval discipline.]
“Marooned” by @honorat - A delightful fic/“scene novelization” about Jack and Elizabeth's brief marooning in COTBP, based primarily on the deleted scenes. Alternates between humorous and dark and even includes some philosophy. [28k+. Jack & Elizabeth, can be read as Sparrabeth if so desired. TW: alcohol.]
☆ “Crossing The Bar” ☆ by Honorat - My absolute uncontested favorite POTC fic and quite possibly my favorite fic of all time. After the events of COTBP, Norrington thinks he has Jack cornered, but the pirate has other ideas.  A story of truly literary proportions ensues, ft. philosophy, hilarity, feelings, and sheer badassery. [156k+. Canon divergent: written pre-DMC. Ships: light Jack/Anamaria. TW: Battle injuries, period-accurate medical practices, minor character death. Other warnings posted in fic.]
STAR WARS
“Ka Mate! Ka Ora!” by @kaasknot - Author’s description: “‘Imagine the entire Torrent Company doing the haka’ / In which the clones have a ceremony of their own to strike fear into the hearts of their enemies.” [3.5k+. No ships. TW: implied character death, space ethnocentrism.]
“Illuminations” by @stitchyarts - Chirrut/Baze. Details Chirrut’s early life, how he came to be at the Temple of the Whills, his life as a Guardian, the growth of his relationship with Baze, and how the Clone Wars finally come to Jedha. [15k+. Ships: Spiritassassin. TW: childhood injury.]
“Un Nouvel Éspoir” by kaasknot - Star Wars told in the style of Victor Hugo, specifically a pastiche of Les Mis. Apparently it updated and I didn’t know (!!!), but the first chapter at least is all about Obi-Wan’s time on Tatooine. [41k+. No ships (thus far). TW: minor character death, implied slavery and experimentation, graphic depictions of Tatooine.]
“They'll Never Stop Us” by bagof4grapes - Luke/Biggs.  Details some of their youth together and has Biggs survive The Battle of Yavin. [39k+. Ships: Skylighter. Canon divergent. TW: eventual NSFW.]
“Into the Storm” by blank101 - Part One of the Sun of Suns trilogy. In an AU where Vader manages to capture the Falcon’s passengers after their attempted escape from Bespin, everything you know and love goes spectacularly to shit. Extremely dark and cannot-tear-your-eyes-away engaging. Not for the faint of heart but HIGHLY recommended. [147k+. Ships: eventual Luke/Mara, background Han/Leia. TW: Palpatine (hence all the other TWs), imprisonment, interrogation, manipulation, gaslighting, grievous bodily harm, torture, space politics, the Dark Side.] (Part Two, Three)
“The Bronze Boy” by M_Leigh - Ben Organa/Solo’s childhood, with appearances by Luke and small Poe Dameron. Shows Han and Leia struggling to be parents in the post-ROTJ political situation. Wonderfully written, though probably no longer canon-compliant. [16k+. No ships. TW: referenced stillbirth, iffy but very sincere parenting, Snoke.]
“Stuff” by Gheorghe2 - A classic Luke/Mara fic written in 1995-6. Drinking, detective work, snarky humor, impulsive decisions, and tension abound. Mentions other Legends characters and events, but Wookieepedia can get you through if you, like me, have only read parts of Legends. [131k+. Ships: Luke/Mara. TW: alcohol, mild NSFW.]
“The Future Prince” by StarMaple - Finn/Poe, and the cutest one I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. In which Finn is the long-lost prince of Yantu. Includes a waltz arrangement of the SW theme and some really pretty fanart. [22k+. Ships: Stormpilot. No TWs; this one’s pure fluff!]
LES MISÉRABLES
“Some Friendlier Sky” by @amarguerite - Cosette/Courfeyrac (yes, really!). One of my favorite Les Mis fics ever. Featuring truly astounding French puns, fantastic OCs, tons of history, fluff, angst, and the ending everyone really wanted. [127k+. Ships: Cosette/Courfeyrac, Joly/Musichetta. TW: cholera, the barricade]
“Paris Burning” by @thecitysmith - Enjolras/Grantaire. One of the first Les Mis fics I ever read. In an AU where cities are personified, long-lost Paris lives on as Grantaire. Stylistically, it is very different from my usual fare, but to this day the City!verse draws me in and breaks my heart like nothing else. (If you, like me, are not really into NSFW, those bits can easily be skipped.) [45k+. Ships: e/R, Cities/others. TW: NSFW, major character death, references to suicide.]
THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA
“Flashes of a Lifetime Together” by @littlelonghairedoutlaw - Erik/the Daroga. Erik and the Daroga unite again in Paris many years after the rosy hours of Mazandaran. A beautiful relationship ensues, solving half the (beloved) nonsense that occurs in POTO proper. [14.8k+. Ships: Pharoga, R/C, platonic E/C. TW: implied torture and murder, attempted assassination, very mild/implied NSFW.]
MARVEL (CAPTAIN AMERICA)
“Steve Rogers At 100: Celebrating Captain America on Film” - Actually the greatest Cap-related fic ever to exist. Technically a Steve/Bucky fic, but tbph I’m just here for the hilarious fake film/pop culture analysis. [10.7k+. Ships: Steve/Bucky, Steve/Peggy. TW: war.]

ORS Says “THANK YOU” To My FOLLOWERS!
Tumblr media
Once more, when people hit benchmark numbers of ‘followers’ around here, revelry is most likely expected to ensue for celebrating that. Beats the hell outa me why people ‘follow’ me --- a phrase in social media I pretty much hate as much as I detest social media in itself. Tumblr is not so bad, but I am for people meeting people face to face and interacting there, rather than the cyber world. Too many phonies and stalkers have given rise to the indomitable armies of breeding ‘strange bedfellows’ around the Internet. I am just an old ‘hippy’ who loves Sparrabeth, good people, have a zany sense of humor, and so happens to be an outspoken fine artist, and a feminist who still loves men (fancy that) regardless of their infinitesimal foibles and misdemeanors against women in the social and personal order of things. LOL!. Maybe it is my quirkiness that others find appealing? Who knows…….not important.
My best advice for those who ‘follow’ me...since I have borrowed your eyes for a moment……is for all to be leaders and not followers in justice, integrity, and self-awareness. Be motivated always to a kind gesture to help all people, and especially to children and animals which are dependent upon the strong. Be nice to EVERYONE regardless of sex, creed, hefty or thin, tall or short, gay or straight, the color of skin, or ethnic background….something I feel strongly about especially these days of revived and ridiculous prejudices of certain people who need a new awakening to take place before they ‘get it’ and realize we are all here on the same ticket! Have no tolerance for cruelty and make your word or promises to others a bond that is sacred!
And for the young….love yourselves, be patient with yourself, your circumstances, and when you need help, tie a knot when you reach the end of your rope, then hang on and CALL SOMEONE!!! The rise of teen suicide is unthinkable and frightens the hell outa me. I read about kids cutting and wanting to end their lives…..DON’T FALL INTO THAT TRAP, Kids! Remember we are all different and variety is the spice of life. EVERYONE struggles in teen years, and all have a special purpose and a reason for being here….take your time to figure it out and let NO ONE Destroy your self-worth, self-esteem, or in loving yourself! Revel in your individuality and uniqueness! How boring if we were all the same????
And those who are old and lonely, almost the same principles: If you feel you have gotten to the end of the road and feel useless, like there is no longer a stretch of road left to travel where you have purpose…don’t sit around and belly ache about it! Get off your ass and build another route and strike a NEW path, welcoming others to join you! Help others along the rest of your way here, be kind, and live the golden rule.
So, there you have it folks. Inside the ten minute, ‘fortune cookie’ mind of ORS and outlook concerning the ‘big picture’ on life! Eat a lot of ice cream and enjoy Sparrabeth!
Love to all, thanks for being nice to me while I am here!  
