Do you know anything about SOLT or have you met any sisters of theirs? I've heard of them from friends of mine and was curious what they do. Sacred Heart of Jesus Have Mercy on Us in this month of the Sacred Heart!
What is SOLT?
SOLT stands for the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity.
Here is their official website.
Who are they?
youtube
What is their charism?
youtube
Who are the SOLT Sisters?
“SOLT was founded to be a missionary society. The Sisters are called to go out to the world and make disciples, to bring people into union with the Most Holy Trinity and with each other in the Church. Accordingly, the Sisters strive to be “afire with that same love with which Christ burned toward men” giving honor and glory to God “who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (cf. Ad Gentes 42 and 1Tim 2:4)
Apostolic and charitable activity is of the very nature of SOLT and therefore the entire life and activity of its members are imbued with an apostolic spirit. Service in areas of deepest apostolic need defines the fundamental character of the SOLT missionary vocation, therefore, we serve in a variety of apostolates with the vision of brining all peoples into communion with the Most Holy Trinity through discipleship of Jesus through Mary and the building up of the Church.”
////////////////////////
….So, the SOLT Sisters are not living together in a cloister, but they live together in a community and go out to serve the world. They are sent wherever the need is the greatest. They are missionary sisters.
I haven’t spoken with any of them but it’s funny you mentioned it because it was one of the Orders I sent a religious inquiry to!—-
Amen!

In this episode of The Catholic Bookworm, Kiki Latimer talks with Fr. Bob Shaldone on his book entitled Chosen One: From Homeless Infant to Priest at Home in My Heavenly Father’s Heart Chosen One is a story of the life of Fr. Bob Shaldone, SOLT, whose earthly mother gave him up for adoption following a happy conclusion to an unplanned pregnancy and whose Heavenly Father chose him as one of His priests in the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity in which he is celebrating his 25th anniversary of his ordination to priesthood. Eric Surt Headcanons
He has horrendous table manners due to having spent so long not knowing when and how much he’d be able to eat. Some of the problems he has – he eats too fast, practically wolfing the food down without tasting it. He leans over his plate and wraps his hand around it, just in case anyone gets the smart idea to try to take his food from him. He’ll chew with his mouth closed. He’ll eat with his fingers if it’s quicker and possible. He doesn’t really care too much, but he’ll try to correct his bad eating habits whenever someone gets on him about them or teases him about them.
His passwords to his phone and on his debit card spell ‘FUCK’.
He actually really likes playing match-3 games on his phone. He finds them really relaxing. He’s really embarrassed about it though as he figures other’s will consider them ‘girly’ or ‘dumb’ but when he has down-time and knows nobody else will see his phone screen, he plays them.
He loves the look of braids on people with long hair. It could be boys, girls, or people of indiscriminate gender. Braids just look hella cool to him and he wishes he could learn to braid. Anna doesn’t mind him learning on her.
Another thing Eric and Anna do together? Crafting. Eric doesn’t mind so much, though he pretends he’s only doing it because he has to. Truth be told, though? He really likes playing around with the hot glue gun.
He has mild aphantasia and has a hard time mentally picturing something. He can think of the idea of that thing and can tell you what it would look like, but the image doesn’t really compute in his mind.
He wants to learn to drive. Kamamoto was teaching him but it only took one driving lesson before Kamamoto refused to let him behind the wheel again. Eric hopes to save up enough money for actual driving lessons so he can get his license and a used vehicle.
Problem is that Eric is lousy with money. He cannot keep to a budget. Money burns a hole in his pocket and he’s more a spender than a saver.
While he doesn’t like socks for the most part, he’d actually like those brightly striped toe socks. They’re dorky but they make him smile.
He prefers knock-off Converse to the actual brand name. There’s a lower arch for the most part on the knock-offs and he has flat feet.
He uses whatever toiletries are cheap, normally bought from a convenience store or something like a dollar store. Suave would be one of his go-to brands, especially the fruity smelling ones.
He likes apples but hates apple pies. There’s something about the texture of cooked apples that gives him the ick.
He doesn’t get podcasts and finds them boring. Though he can’t get himself to settle down and read, he does like audiobooks though.
The idea of being married doesn’t really appeal to him. While he has his romantic side, he doesn’t know if he’ll ever want to be someone’s husband and a father.
He gets into a lot of fights at workplaces, because he tends to rebel against any perceived authority figure, and he gets fired because of disrespect or outright fighting quite a bit more than he should.
Kusanagi is one of the references on Eric’s resume.
Blue is his favourite colour, both for clothing and in general.
He likes the idea of Santa and wishes he could’ve believed in Santa as a kid. It oddly touches him the first time the others make sure he gets a gift from Santa, even though he knows theoretically that the other’s were the ones to buy him the gift.
