i think one of the biggest problems with mainstream internet discourse is this tying of someone's artistic merit and someone's personhood being good or bad. like, we've gotta live with the fact that sometimes a really cool person will make terrible, terrible art and it's not a sign of a moral failing or anything. look at snoop dogg! in my opinion he's one of the worst rappers of that era!! he also seems to just be a genuinely good, decent human being who bakes cakes and takes care of his family. look at HP lovecraft!! horribly omni-bigoted wretch of a man, also one of the best and most influential horror writers to ever grace the americas! these realities can and should coexist, and it's fundamentally immature to pretend like they can't.
