Philippines Fashion Style Lookbook I

In which Ai learns how to use GIMP to actually edit her lookbooks for once. (Ｔ▽Ｔ) This is my first time making an edit like this so apologies if it's very rough around the edges

First off, thanks to @itselliandra for her wonderful and absolutely amazing tutorial vid for showing me how to do all this! Which I wouldn't have found in the first place without browsing through @emmastillsims' beautiful lookbooks as well! ⁽⁽ଘ( ˊωˋ )ଓ⁾⁾

So, about this lookbook! For those that don't know, I'm a Filipino, and have lived in the Philippines pretty much my entire life! I wanted to share what kinds of styles and fashions were what I usually saw when traveling, going out, etc. ╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯

In the Philippines we definitely dress for the weather! It's usually hot and damp! Hence the more loose, showy, and flowy clothing!

From left to right, the styles in this lookbook are:

Hubadera - Coming from the Tagalog word "Hubad" which means bare or naked, this is a fashion style that emphasizes showing a lot of skin and feeling sexy. Think your Sim has the guts to pull off the hubadera lifestyle?

Basic - Simple and stylish! Beat the Filipino heat with a simple dress and light accessories to match. Whether going to the mall to hang out with friends, or meeting up with classmates for a group activity, sometimes basic is best!

Acubi - Minimalist and trendy, Acubi is a style that's in-between Y2K, minimalist and subversive. My sibling loves wearing this style and they were the one who suggested I include it! It apparently originates from Korea, and if there's one thing I know, it's that we Filipinos love all things Korean.

Tita of Manila - Literally meaning "Aunt/Auntie of Manila". With her designer bags (Whether they are real or secondhands she bought from an ukay-ukay is up for you to decide), expensive jewelry, and taste for wine and tea, the tita is a matron of class and privilege. Don't let her looks fool you, she can be as witty and as sharp as she needs to be!

hello, it is i, sam (any pronouns), a new simblr. 🐸✨

well, not really, since i had a simblr last year but i deactivated it bc i was too busy in college (i still am busy due to me working on my thesis film), and i've been posting for a few days already. i came back upon hearing about the for rent pack referencing southeast asian food and culture. if i see a filipino reference, i wear my biggest pair of sunnies, pull out my philippine flag, and wave it as a colorful array of fireworks explode behind me. /j

i plan to keep my style mostly maxis mix. i'm also going to post mostly random screenshots and some cas lookbooks and portraits. if i'll post anything gameplay-related, expect it to be a bit odd. chaotic. not-so-organized. silly, even. perhaps i'll even make bad cc in the future. btw that's my sim, tina fish, and she has a daughter, tuna. yes i plan to name everyone after food.🐟

Editblr Community Survey ~ Results (Part 1)

hello, everyone! we made this little survey for fun a couple weeks ago and oh boy, we were not expecting 102 results! thank you all for participating. we're going to split these posts into parts based on the sections of the survey, so keep an eye for the rest of them. we'll link them all here:

we've got a bunch of data to share, so we'll put it all under the cut.

the first question we asked (after name/url lol) was what age everyone is! we were pretty curious what the distribution of age was in the community. we originally didn't include a "prefer not to say" option, so sorry about that, but we did redo the percentages to include the custom answers of that. the most common age for the community is 15, at 13.9% of the participants. the least common is 20, at 4%! funnily enough, we're 20 lmao. shout out to the other 20 year old editors. the distribution of minors:adults in the community is about 2:1, with 60.5% of editors being under 18 and 30.7% over 18.

the next one we asked, was when everyone start editing! personally, we started editing in 2021, though we had previous experience making moodboards and sims edits. the most common year people started editing, is 2024 (at 24.8%)! there's been a major influx of people recently, which has been super fun to see. the least common year people started editing is 2019 (at 5.9%).

in hindsight, we should have just put the continents rather than specific countries, but hey, it was fun learning where everyone is from! we're from the boring uk. to the surprise of no one, the most common place editors are from is the united states (at 54%). the least common of the ones we listed are india and germany (both at 1%). other custom countries that only make up 1% are poland, new zealand, panama, and france! the most common custom result were the philippines (at 3%), and mexico and new zealand (both at 2%). shout out to everyone from countries we didn't include! fun fact, we completely forgot oceania existed lmao. we are far from perfect.

June means pride month but it also means that the Philippines’s Independence Day is coming up so I wanna start my art line for June by drawing the noodle bois, Veneer and my oc, Gloss, whom I shipped together in precolonial Filipino outfits, complete with jewelry and in Gloss’s case, tattoos since Zircon is the leader and tattoos in the precolonial era are a symbol of high status. It was hard to design the tattoos because the designs vary from the Kalinga, northern Luzon, Visayas, and all over the Philippines.

Plus, while reading the history of my home country, I found out that before the colonizers from Spain arrived with their narrow-minded ideals, homosexual relations in both sexes were common and bore no stigma in pre-colonial Philippines, which was no big deal for my ancestors. I can't believe this part of history was erased by the colonizers and forgotten for many years.

👎🏻 Past-senger - I was excited for but this one but it ended up being unwatchable for me. Cooper and Marc are an interesting pair and I was debating hanging on for them but the production quality ended up being a dealbreaker for me. It’s one of the cheapest looking productions I’ve ever seen, it looks like it was filmed & edited by kindergarteners. The cast + acting is solid but even they couldn’t save it for me. Dropped. 

👎🏻 Love Syndrome - Same goes for this one pretty much. I decided to give it a go because I was curious about Frank’s BL comeback but my god it’s terrible. It’s cheap, the plot is strange and the characters are annoying. And what is up with that wig??? I have no words. I can see how this is a spinoff of Unforgotten Night as the quality is similar but with the difference that I liked Itt and Day a lot better in UN. Instantly dropped.

The show will feature both a BL and a GL storyline, making it the first MeMindY project to include wlw representation.

❗️ The novel ดับแสงรวี will be adapted into a period/horror movie. The leads will be played by Zee P. and Nunew C. The movie will premiere in Thai cinemas and held its opening ceremony on March 30th. Shooting will commence soon. 

❗️ IdolfactoryTH announced their new project titled The Sign, starring Billy Patchanon and Baeb Tanatat. It tells the reincarnation story of Phaya & Tharn who were lovers in the past until an incident forced them to part ways. They end up being reincarnated as partners in a Special Investigations Unit. 

❗️ A third season for the compilation BL Close Friend has been announced titled Soju Bomb. The season will feature new actors and tells the story of a group of 5 young men who dream of becoming idols in Korea but fail before their debut. Before returning to Thailand they get drunk together when unexpected events transpire. 

❗️ After the Korean company Number 3 Productions announced their new series I, a Gangster, Became a High Schooler (which was going to feature Yoon Chan Young amongst others), it was revealed that the BL element will be removed from the plot and it will be turned it into a bromance-themed series. This upset many viewers as the original story tackles various important lgbt topics such as self-acceptance, friendship, bullying and more.

Statistics pt 3!

So this time the statistics will be a little different since I don't have an easy way to show the cumulative statistics including the best kiss bracket, but I can show off the statistics for the Best Kiss bracket and how it compares to the others!

There were 44 different dramas represented in the Best Kiss Bracket (counting 1st and 2nd seasons as one drama). There was 1 from China, 1 from the Philippines, 4 from Japan, 4 from Taiwan, 7 from South Korea, and 26 from Thailand.

Comparing this to the cumulative statistics for the other brackets, we can see that Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan maintained approx the same proportional amount of dramas in this bracket compared to the rest, South Korea had a higher proportion in the Best Kiss Bracket than overall, China had a lower proportion in the Best Kiss Bracket, and the Philippines were an entirely new addition to bracket as a whole.

Out of the 44 dramas, there were 12 new dramas that had not been in previous brackets. 1 was from China (Addicted), 1 was from the Philippines (Gameboys), 2 were from Japan (Eternal Yesterday, Seven Days: Friday - Sunday), 3 were from South Korea (Roommates of Poongduck 304, Our Dating Sim, Choco Milk Shake), 2 were from Taiwan (HIStory 2: Crossing the Line, About Youth), and 3 were from Thailand (Love Mechanics, Secret Crush On You, Second Chance).
