okay organizing some thoughts on the first 6 eps of NagiAsu since i’ve watched them like 10 times in the past year or so
tsumugu is manaka’s first real exposure to someone from the surface and she’s CURIOUS about him and his experiences since he isn’t someone she grew up with. he’s the only one in their class who isn’t a prejudiced little brat and who expresses interest in HER and her friends. hikari (and chisaki, and kaname to an extent) mistakes this curiosity for a romantic interest because of what’s going on with akari and her boyfriend. the conversation manaka has with chisaki in the narunami jr high classroom really cements this, to me, because she’s discussing a “what if” scenario with chisaki, she straight up says she doesn’t know if she “likes” tsumugu yet.
english dub also seems to be doing more with regards to hikari sorting out how he feels about manaka Before the ofunehiki...idk, i like hikari a lot he does so much growing in the first 7 episodes and through the anime *grabs him like a barbie doll* you are just a little guy!!!!!!!!!!!
also head in my hands about akari she’s so *clenches my fist* i love her. i can’t get over her. you want a messy female character she’s your girl. her soap opera drama with miori and miuna and itaru is just chef’s kiss. hikari realizing that akari is her own person and deserves to be happy/pursue her happiness...eventually supporting her romance with miuna’s dad....ough. supportive siblings. also can you imagine the kind of pressure she’s under as the head chief’s daughter, one of the few remaining young adult women in shioshishio....like i can’t articulate my thoughts very well lol akari just resonates with me
ALSO. hikari’s dad hands down is such a fucking shithead he just does NOTHING the whole time and refuses to ACTUALLY communicate or try to change his views. both his kids leave him? deserved!!!!!!!!! bitch!!!!!!!

Yelling into the void about Kaname Isaki because I just really like him okay ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This anime is like 7 years old and not very popular so this is probably extremely random and out of nowhere, but I still think about this sometimes ever since I watched this anime in like 2014 because Kaname's still one of the anime characters I'm most attached to and I finally want to get it out
I've just always found it so interesting how the detail that Kaname got into a huge fight with his parents was added into his conversation with Chisaki in episode 13. We literally never see his parents at all despite getting to see the parents and even at least a bit of the family dynamic of the other three Shioshishio kids. So considering the complete nonexistence of his parents' presences in the show, they could've easily just made Kaname give a generic response like "yeah it went fine for me too" and nobody would've batted an eye.
But the show chose for Kaname to mention a fight. And that just really stuck out to me for two reasons: one, because of how unnecessary and random(?) it felt, and two, because of how... off it felt with his character.
So firstly, like I mentioned earlier, compared to the rest of the characters, Kaname's parents and family practically doesn't exist. And I can see how maybe the show used this moment to like, establish the existence his family. But once again, they added in the extra detail of a huge fight, and if I were in charge of writing this conversation, something like that isn't what I would think of at first. Maybe if I wanted to make things interesting and purposefully add conflict to give a bit of depth to his family, then I would (and honestly that might just be the reason why this detail is a thing LOL).
But it's not like Kaname is shown reuniting with his family at the end, and it's not like his family is even mentioned EVER again for the rest of the show. So unless they are trying to just make things even a bit more interesting in regards to Kaname, this just felt so out of nowhere for me.
And secondly, we can presume that he gets into a fight with his parents. Except direct conflict and Kaname are not two things that you'd usually put together. He's probably one the most reserved characters of the show (besides Tsumugu maybe) and we've seen time and time again that he usually inclines to stand by instead of directly confronting things. So making Kaname talk having a huge fight with his parents of all things?? It's so interesting.
And Kaname does say that things worked out in the end, but knowing his character and his tendency to rarely express his troubles, I can easily see him just saying that to avoid making Chisaki worried. I'm definitely not saying that this is the case--but it just makes me wonder about things a bit, you know? Because brushing it off just feels so in-character for him to do. And honestly, not even mentioning the fight and saying "it turned out fine" also feels quite in-character for him... Cue my first point where I talk in circles about how this fight being mentioned felt so interestingly unnecessary and random.
Oh also, I'm not saying this is bad by any means. I'm actually really happy that this detail exists, because I'll take literally any details about Kaname we I can. It's just been really fun for me to think about this, and I wanted to share my intrigue.
To be realistic, this detail probably means nothing. He even says that this is the first time they've had a huge fight, so it's probably fair to assume that he and his parents get along fine most of the time. My overthinking and Kaname-appreciating brain just wonders... what if his relationship with his parents wasn't that simple though? Since I've spent this entire post pointing out how much this detail sticks out to me, I just can't help but imagine the possibility that it has more meaning than it probably does... and then maybe extrapolate that into an explanation or reason why Kaname tends to just bottle up his emotions and not express them to anybody.
I'd also just love to see am angry and confrontational Kaname. That'd be really cool.
...I may have spent too much time thinking about this. Man. I just like Kaname as a character so much and unfortunately he didn't get as much screentime as everyone else so as a result I've honestly probably overanalyzed like every major moment of him.

Rin turned 2 years old and I was on a roll and took so many different pics of her ♥♥♥  She’s a perfect doll for me. I was always feeling comfortable buying her wigs and eyes of different colours because everything suits her anyway so I never get bored of her looks! She never had a background story unlike my previous generation dolls, it makes everything easier because I have no limits anymore. In one picture she’s vintage typical asian volks doll, the other is rather realistic and casual girl like I used to have with my nothern town crew. Then she is my own Hatsune Miku or my own OC from ShioShiShio underwater world. She is my everything <3
Happy Birthday Rin-chan!

mi amor 🍉 i had no idea you were into anime that's so cute sjsjshsb i've watched some anime myself, mostly the popular stuff. do you have any good anime recs? something cute and wholesome like the one you were talking abt? my day has been good ty ♡ got all my hw done
mi angelito!! 🐨🥑♡. yes i do like watching anime, although i'm the exact opposite of you! for some reason i always end up watching anime that are not extremely popular and skipping the most famous ones 🍋. i really like anime that are cozy and domestic, so i end up watching a lot of slice of lives. i'd love to recommend you some of my favorite ones, and you can also find a lot of cute anime on my plan to watch list (my watched list is not complete as i had to create a new account but was too lazy to rate every anime that i had watched in the past, so for now i've only rated the ones that i have recently completed).
• nagi no asu kara (a lull in the sea) - this is one of my top favorites, with some of the best visuals i have ever seen in a series. it tells the story of a group of childhood friends who live beneath the sea in a beautiful village called shioshishio. one day, they are forced to leave the sea in order to attend a school on the surface, and from that day their lives will change in extraordinary ways. it's a beautiful anime which discusses mature topics like racism and the fear of change, and a must see for every ocean lover 🐠♡.
• irozuku sekai no ashita kara (iroduku: the world in colors) - this one has aired quite recently, in winter 2018, and it's so adorable – especially if you like witchy and magical settings. the visuals are amazing, too, and i really like the design of the mc. iroduku is set in a colorful world where magic is ingrained in every day life, in the form of spells, magic shops, and magic users. among them, there's a young mage called hitomi tsukishiro, who has became unable to see the colors of the world and lives everyday in a monochrome reality deprived of emotion and feeling. in order to help her granddaughter regain the ability to see the world in colors, hitomi's grandmother kohaku will conjure a spell to send hitomi back in time to the year 2018. there, she will attend a new highschool, join a photography club, and make new friends 🍉♡.
• flying witch - i'm halfway through this anime and i'm really enjoying it! it's literally the definition of cozy, rural and domestic, but with a witchy twist. we follow the daily life of makoto kowata, an apprentice witch who, along with chito, her black cat familiar, embarks on a journey to the aoomori region, in pursuit of knowledge and training. this anime is all about life in the countryside and witchcraft: farming and cultivating the land, picking and cooking bakke, drawing pentagrams and learning new spells, practicing flight with the broom. i have a feeling all fans of animal crossing and stardew valley would like this anime, as it is so pure and earthy 🍃 ♡.
my dear, i'm so glad your day has been good and i'm so proud of you for getting all your hm done! i hope you'll enjoy these anime, and that you'll keep being happy and productive 🥑.
