Legendary sex therapist Dr Ruth dead at age 96

The legendarily frank sex therapist and cultural icon Dr Ruth Westheimer, known simply as Dr Ruth, has died at the age of 96, according to her publicist.

Westheimer died on Friday at her home in New York City, surrounded by her family.

Westheimer never advocated risky sexual behavior. Instead, she encouraged an open dialogue on previously closeted issues that affected her audience of millions. Her one recurring theme was there was nothing to be ashamed of.

“I still hold old-fashioned values and I’m a bit of a square,” she told students at Michigan City high school in 2002. “Sex is a private art and a private matter. But still, it is a subject we must talk about.”

ATTITUDES AND INSULTS

Let's talk about men's attitudes for a moment. I'm a fat woman. It is what it is. It's just a fact of life and being fat doesn't make me less beautiful, less deserving of respect, less deserving of love or anything else for that matter.

However! Men choose to insult me based upon my weight when I don't comply with whatever it is the "ask" for. It isn't until after I say I won't do whatever it is they want that they decide I'm not "worthy" enough for their attention and then they act like they are doing me a favor by wanting something from me based upon my weight. Like nah fuck off with that shit. You can take your attitude and shove it up your ass because my self worth and self esteem ain't built upon male validation.

Pretty is NOT the rent I pay to exist in this world. Pretty is not owed to you or anyone else. What is owed and what is expected to exist in this world is kindness. I live as a genuine person. I try my utmost best to be a kind person and I expect the same treatment in kind. This name calling shit needs to be cut out. You need to get your attitude in check.

These insults aren't just weight based. If you call a woman a slut, whore, cunt, bitch, or whatever else because she didn't do as you asked or wanted you need to check that attitude. You aren't owed shit. Name calling because you are disappointed is infantile and tasteless. You are the problem in this situation.
