so my Geography of Europe and the Americas instructor has offered students the opportunity to do a project on the geography of virtual spaces, specifically second life. cut to the professor showing us his two avatars and our university's stunningly detailed virtual campus. needless to say I was intrigued and told him I'm doing the project. as fun as it sounds this idea came as a shock to me and literally everyone I mentioned it to outside of class. as a furry of many years I and my immediate friend circle exclusively knew second life as The Furry Avatar Chatroom, while my mom exclusively knew second life as The Place People Go To Have Virtual E-Sex Affairs.

I had an empty second life account already (I think I tried it once years ago and got confused) so I logged in and spent the weekend on the second life marketplace with like $30 worth of linden dollars building a wardrobe of pieces I could use to make a few avatars.
