How are hazel and nico in the hockey AU?

OH DUDE THEY'RE SO GOOD. It hasn't been shown much yet because the AU has been so focused on Jason and Nico, but Nico and Hazel talk almost every day, she's a MASSIVE part of his routine and he loves her so, so much.

It's going to come up a lot more in the coming arcs, Nico and Hazel's relationship, because I'm trying to shift a little more to show Nico's relationships with people outside of Jason. So Chapter 11 is much more team-and-family-centric than Jason-centric, and we see a LOT more of how Nico is doing when he's not constantly holding himself together for Jason. ESPECIALLY after how Nico interacted with Thalia, I think it's really important for the narrative to show how Nico loves and interacts with his own sister, because he was freaked out by Thalia being an older sister, he was freaked out by the reminder that he hasn't seen his own baby sister in months, and I think it would be a disservice for Nico to open up to Jason about those feelings, but not Hazel, y'know?

Hazel and Nico also lived together for a brief period of around a year, when Nico moved to Louisiana for hockey. He views Miss Marie as more of a mother figure than Persephone, even, and even though he spent that year terrified for his own life and safety due to potential persecution from his teammates, he still views it as one of the best years of his life. Having a sibling again, someone he actually shared the house with and cohabitated with and cared about, healed something in him he didn't realize needed healing.

Nico loves Hazel dearly, and she loves him too.

(Hazel doesn't know this, but Nico has a bank account set aside so, if she wants, he can help her and Miss Marie pay for an arts education. It's going to be his graduation present to her. And if she refuses his help, which he suspects she might, he'll just put the money toward buying her nice presents, art supplies or dance uniforms or any other luxuries she might otherwise not buy for herself. Nico is independently wealthy now, after all, and he's certainly not going to waste all that money on himself.)
