FLP CHAPBOOK OF THE DAY: Because Time by Liz Abrams-Morley
On SALE now! Pre-order Price Guarantee: https://www.finishinglinepress.com/product/because-time-by-liz-abrams-morley/
The poems in Because Time invite the reader into the imagined future of the poet’s youngest students, and grandchildren, as this fragile generation negotiates the “unprecedented” times of pandemic, school shootings, abridgement of bodily autonomy and a climate gone bizarre; simultaneously the #poems interrogate and redefine experiences and traumas of generations gone. A rumination on disruptions, on “life after so much death,” an homage at times to resilience, and a prayer for the future, the poet seeks words to keep this youngest generation, despite logic and the odds, “crazy for hope.”
Liz Abrams-Morley’s previously poetry collections include, Beholder, Inventory, Necessary Turns and Learning to Calculate the Half Life. Her poems and short stories have been published in a variety of nationally distributed anthologies, journals and ezines and have been read on National Public Radio. She has collaborated with visual artists, both as a collage artist and incorporating her poetry into visual art pieces.
PRAISE FOR Because Time by Liz Abrams-Morley
“Listen, I told her,” says the speaker in Because time, “for the sounds/You cannot hear.”
The poems in Liz Abrams-Morley newest collection ask readers to simultaneously reach into the future while redefining the past. Words anchor us to both and all moments co-exist. “This is why I make poems, make collages,” Abrams-Morley writes. The imagined future holds both hope and fear for the children. “Tell yourself that any ordeal will strengthen them. Tell yourself that. Go on, I dare you.” As for the past, “Think of the magnolia petals, how, in your hometown, they opened like fireworks.” The poems in this remarkable collection root us in Time’s circle so we are always amazed, but never lost.
–Lois Roma-Deeley, Poet Laureate, Scottsdale, Arizona, author of Like Water in the Palm of My Hand
“How you say the world, I learned/Is how you see it.” In Because Time, Liz Abrams-Morley fiercely says and sees our human situations, from the “siren-slashed” crimes against women and children, to generational transfer and the sly nature of time. Her poems are necessity and balm. Read them, return to them.
–Tracy Robert, author of Flashcards and the Curse of Ambrosia
The unforgettable poems of Because Time flare up from shards of memory lodged in the body and told in glints and glimpses of “life after so much death.” Liz Abrams-Morley has undertaken a rumination on disruption—assassination, insurrection, school shootings, war, a botched abortion, a mother’s sorrow, her nephew’s shiva—collaged from scraps of family stories, some of them her own. The poems themselves are acts of interruption, like oral tales whose digressions create space for unexpected possibilities and images of resilience. Dedicated to the next generation, this collection is intended to keep them alive and “crazy for hope” in their “unprecedented” future.

Airport shuttle services in Scottsdale offer a convenient and cost-effective way to reach your destination while taking in the breathtaking sights of the area. In this guide, we'll explore the benefits of scottsdale airport shuttle, highlighting why they are the gateway to an unforgettable experience.
Tumblr media
Convenience and Accessibility
Arriving at an airport in an unfamiliar city can be overwhelming, especially if you're not familiar with the local transportation options. Airport shuttle services in Scottsdale provide a hassle-free solution. These services are readily available at the airport, and their schedules are often coordinated with flight arrivals, ensuring you won't have to wait long for transportation.
Whether you're traveling solo, with family, or in a group, airport shuttles can accommodate different group sizes, making them a versatile choice for all travelers. They offer door-to-door service, which means you'll be dropped off directly at your hotel or destination, eliminating the need for multiple transfers or navigating public transportation.
Cost-Effective Travel
Travel expenses can add up quickly, but airport shuttle services in Scottsdale offer an affordable alternative to taxis or rental cars. The shared nature of shuttle services means that you'll be splitting the cost with other passengers, making it a budget-friendly choice. Additionally, shuttle rates are typically fixed and transparent, so you won't encounter surprise charges or unexpected fees.
Renting a car can be expensive when factoring in rental fees, fuel costs, parking fees, and insurance. With airport shuttles, you can avoid these expenses while enjoying a comfortable and stress-free ride to your destination.
Local Expertise and Recommendations
Airport shuttle drivers in Scottsdale are often locals who are knowledgeable about the city's attractions, dining options, and hidden gems. They can provide valuable recommendations for things to do and places to visit during your stay. This insider knowledge can enhance your travel experience, helping you discover the best Scottsdale has to offer.
Whether you're interested in exploring the vibrant Old Town Scottsdale, visiting renowned art galleries, or embarking on outdoor adventures in the desert, your shuttle driver can point you in the right direction, saving you time and helping you make the most of your trip.
Reliable and Timely Service
Punctuality is essential when it comes to airport transportation. Airport shuttle services in Scottsdale are known for their reliability and timeliness. They are committed to ensuring that you arrive at the airport on time for your departure and that you're promptly picked up upon your arrival.
Shuttle providers are well-versed in monitoring flight schedules and adjusting their services accordingly. This means you won't have to worry about missed flights or extended waits at the airport. By choosing an airport shuttle, you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that your transportation needs are taken care of efficiently.
Reduced Stress and Environmental Impact
Traveling can be stressful, especially when dealing with traffic, parking, and navigation in an unfamiliar city. Airport shuttle services in Scottsdale alleviate these stressors. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic views while leaving the driving to the professionals.
Furthermore, opting for a shared shuttle service contributes to a more sustainable travel experience. Sharing a ride with fellow travelers reduces the number of vehicles on the road, which helps minimize the environmental impact of your trip. It's a small but meaningful way to make your travel eco-friendlier.
Conclusion
Exploring Scottsdale, Arizona, is a dream for many travelers, and airport shuttle services play a crucial role in turning that dream into a reality. Their convenience, affordability, local expertise, reliability, and stress-reducing benefits make them the gateway to a memorable and enjoyable experience in this picturesque city.

Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The Day Jackson Pollock Became a Christian" antwortet. Read the full article

Oh, fuck me, I just noticed...
Daniel?
DANIEL?!
You're going to come here into my private den not on anon @kevinromierlo-blog and call me Daniel?!
So I guess that's who I am now? Not that it would make a difference. Let's run the simulation and see what happens:
Daniel Jacob Patterson was born in 1980 in Mesa, Arizona to a young travel agent named Sally Orton. After graduating from Mesa High School he attended the University of Arizona where he majored in astronomy. As a breadth requirement he took a lower division acocunting class and found his true passion. After graduating he quickly became a Certified Public Accountant and joined Powell Accounting Professional Services in Scottsdale. After sever years he'd built enough of a client base to branch off and start his own practice in south Phoenix called Patterson Accounting. The business expanded quickly, and soon he was able to open other branches in Flagstaff, Kingman, and Tucson. In 2014 he was able to achieve a lifelong dream when he published his first book on accounting software called The Art of Accounting Software:
Tumblr media
The book revolutionized accounting practices across Arizona, culminating in Patterson giving the keynote address at the 34th annual meeting of the Southwest Accounting Professionals Service Organization (SAPSO 34). His speech—"How to EXCEL with Modern Accounting Software: Best Practices and Practical Advice"—nearly received a standing ovation before SAPSO president Helen Shackleford called for order.
Tragically, Patterson's life was cut short when, in 2017, he took a false step off of a moving walkway in Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport, falling backward and landing awkwardly on a large roller bag.
The man's been dead seven years, @kevinromierlo-blog, and yet you're confusing me for him?! Two words: HOW?!
(The second word is also "how", but I used up all my italics and caps.)
Hi Daniel! Beyond awesome stuff! Especially love the glyph for joy in your wife's honour. Not to mention the gorgeous engraved ring!
The website omniglot.com (through which I satisfied my love for languages and scripts since I was 11 years old) always includes a translation of the first UN Declaration of Human Rights. Could you produce one in High Valyrian?
Here is the text: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. (Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights)
Thank you!
I'm not going to do anything for Omniglot until they fix some of the absurd things said about some of my writing systems. For example, if you go to High Valyrian right now, the image they use for the writing system is an alphabet where one glyph lines up with each letter in the English alphabet. It is, indeed, what happens when you type that in the font, but that's just to have something appear when you type each key; that's not what the system is. Honestly, it's gone off the rails the past ten or so years specifically with respect to conlang scripts. It is in no way a reliable resource when it comes to conlang scripts.

Arizona Falls in Phoenix, Arizona Located in northeastern Phoenix, on the edge of Scottsdale, this unusual attraction highlights a waterfall created in 1883 during the construction of the Arizona Canal. When contractor William J. Murphy and his team came upon a natural 20-foot drop, they decided to incorporate the drop into a new waterfall. Locals started coming to the spot for picnics and recreation, enjoying the cool mist of the waterfall and the area's shady trees. In 1902, Phoenix's first hydroelectric power plant was built at the site and was then rebuilt and updated in 1911. The power plant encased the falls and a dance floor was built on the plant's roof. The plant was shut down in 1950 when necessary repairs and maintenance were deemed too expensive for the plant to continue operation. Over the ensuing years, interest in the site waxed and waned until the city of Phoenix and the water and power organization Salt River Project (SRP) joined forces to create a new hydroelectric plant and public recreational park featuring art installations and educational materials. The current park opened in 2003. Mags Harries, a sculptor, and her husband Lajos Heder, an architect, designed the falls alongside landscape architect Steve Martino. The park features overlooks and a concrete deck where visitors can sit and feel the waterfall's spray. At the park, there's a boulder from each of the dam sites SRP manages, gears from the original powerhouse, and thematic poetry by Alberto Rios, Arizona's first poet laureate, that's been sandblasted into the concrete. Signs throughout the park explain the history of the site, hydroelectric power, and how the white amur fish helps clear the water of weeds and algae. https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/arizona-falls

How You Can Make The Most Of Your Vacation Rental Experience In Scottsdale, Arizona
Arizona is often believed to be a destination only for wealthy travelers. But that’s not true at all! Anyone who wants to enjoy outdoor adventures and delicious food, besides art, spas, and golf courses, should plan a vacation in Scottsdale.
Being a year-round destination, tourists don’t have to wait for a particular season to make the most of their holidays. However, they must search for a decent vacation rental to spend their days without burning a hole in their pockets.
Fortunately, this tourist destination is full of spectacular rental spaces. But how will you choose the one for your stay and make the most of your experience? We have made it simple for you. Read on:
Learn about the location
Tourists decide where to stay during their vacation by looking at pictures shared by the rental space’s owner or manager. Judging a book by its cover sometimes costs them hundreds of dollars. They often spend more than expected because the location of their rental space is far away from all tourist attractions, shopping centers, restaurants, bus stations, airports, and so on.
If you don’t want to spend your time looking for places to eat, drink, and explore, choose a location closest to most places. This way, you spend less on transportation, whether you take public transport for the conveyance or rent a car to roam around.
Check-in with the host
Visiting Scottsdale for the first time can be overwhelming since you are unfamiliar with this tourist destination. But you can make your experience pleasant and hassle-free by searching for a vacation rental with hosts known for good communication. Your host answers your questions about the rental space and your stay. They even make your stay comfortable by providing you with concierge services, such as in-house cooking by chefs, grocery deliveries, and private drivers.
Even if you don’t meet the host face to face, you earn peace of mind that they are available for any help around the clock. Besides being good at communicating with guests, responsible and reliable hosts are great at setting up itineraries when requested and recommending places to visit in Arizona.
Read reviews
Reading testimonials and reviews seems tedious, but it’s crucial if you don’t want your vacation rental experience to be bad. Previous clients not only share their experiences with the hosts but also mention what they liked and what they didn’t, letting other travelers know what they can expect during their stay.
Recent reviews also provide you with up-to-date information about vacation rentals, giving you a heads-up. This way, you can make an informed decision about reservations.
Whether your vacation period is short or long, search for vacation rentals in Scottsdale, Arizona. Reserve your accommodations only after doing your homework to make the most of your experience.

Moving To Gilbert? Here's What You Should Know
Moving to Gilbert, AZ? If so, you're in for a treat. This vibrant Phoenix suburb has a lot going on and is one of the friendliest and most welcoming places you can move to in Arizona. As Gilbert continues its explosive growth, it's becoming more and more diverse and exciting all the time. For all these reasons (and more), we've compiled a list of things that make moving to Gilbert such an exciting prospect!
Tumblr media
Gilbert's population is growing by the minute.
You're moving to Gilbert, Arizona. Well for one thing, it's close enough to Phoenix and Tempe that people who work there can commute easily—but far enough away that you don't have any traffic problems (or parking issues). And while there are plenty of new housing developments in Gilbert itself, they're still all within a short distance from downtown Mesa or Chandler so you won't feel like you've moved too far away from civilization just yet!
Gilbert isn't just a home for the young.
Gilbert is a great place for young families. There are plenty of affordable housing options, as well as parks and trails that make it easy to enjoy the outdoors with your kids. There are also plenty of great schools to choose from if you have children in stroller-age or preschool.
Gilbert also has some excellent restaurants serving up everything from tacos to sushi, so no matter what taste you’re craving you can find it in this town!
Gilbert doesn't have a centralized downtown just yet.
As you might imagine, there's no single downtown area in Gilbert. Instead, the city is divided into several smaller neighborhoods that each have their own unique character and vibe. In general, they are:
The Village—a lively area where you can dine out or do some shopping;
Civic Center—home to City Hall and other government buildings;
Historic Chandler Boulevard—one of the main streets through town;
Central Phoenix Corridor (also known as “Uptown Gilbert”)—a mixed-use corridor for businesses, residences and office space.
Each of these areas offer a variety of restaurants and shops as well as outdoor attractions such as parks or community gardens where residents can enjoy their free time after work or on weekends.
Gilbert is family-friendly and very pet-friendly.
If you're a pet owner, Gilbert is the perfect place for you. With more than 100 dog parks in the city, your four-legged friend will always have room to play. There are also many pet-friendly businesses, like The Poodle & Pooch Hotel and Spa and Bruckner's on Main Street (which has a special menu just for Fido).
If you're looking for a home where your family can thrive as well as your pets, check out some of these areas:
Gilbert is a foodie haven.
Gilbert is a foodie haven. Gilbert has a lot of great restaurants, food trucks and local restaurants. There are also several food festivals that take place throughout the year, including the annual Gilbert Days Festival in September which features a variety of local foods as well as carnival rides and other entertainment for all ages.
Gilbert has a lot of public art, and it's quite vibrant.
Gilbert is a town that loves its public art, and it shows. You'll find murals everywhere—and not just the typical "graffiti" type. Rather, they're often large-scale pieces of art that take up half a building or more, depicting scenes from local history or mythology.
There are also many sculptures around town, including this giant metal tree near our office.
Gilbert has an annual art walk where you can check out galleries (or even see some live music at some) throughout Gilbert's downtown area every first Friday of the month from October through May (the dates vary slightly each year).
Check out one of these great places for art when you visit: The Arizona State University Art Museum; Rehm Gallery; Cooper Square Galleries; Downtown Phoenix Public Library Central Branch Gallery; Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art; and more!
There are even more great places to explore in and around Gilbert!
There are even more great places to explore in and around Gilbert!
The city is so close to Phoenix, Arizona's capital city. You'll have easy access to the Phoenix Art Museum and its collection of works by Picasso, Matisse, Monet and Warhol. It's also home to the Heard Museum with its collection of Native American art and artifacts as well as an annual Festival of Native Cultures that celebrates Native American culture through dance performances and storytelling.
There are also plenty of parks, trails and open spaces nearby where you can enjoy nature when you need a break from the city. Gilbert offers more than 3 million square feet of recreation space for residents including six major open-space parks along with playgrounds throughout the city. If you feel like getting away from it all entirely but still want some company on your trip, one option is Black Canyon City Park which sits just outside town within walking distance from Black Canyon City Airport (BLK). The park has hiking trails leading through forests or up mountainsides offering incredible views over Black Canyon Lake below as well as mountain ranges in both directions towards Phoenix on one side—and toward Flagstaff on another side!
Moving to Gilbert means you're moving to an amazing place with a lot of opportunities for growth and fun!
If you're moving to Gilbert, you're moving to a city that has something for everyone. Whether you’re a foodie or an explorer, there are plenty of activities and restaurants to keep anyone entertained.
If you love exploring new things, the city offers plenty of opportunities for that as well. From its local parks to its shopping centers and art museums, there are always new places to try out in town.
If getting your shopping fix is important to you then Gilbert will not disappoint! With over 200 stores and restaurants located along historic downtown Main Street as well as at East Valley Marketplace on Higley Road & Elliot Road - it's hard not find something great when visiting here!
