Seven Samourais:
What can even be said? Directed by the visionary Akira Kurosawa, who pioneered many of the most foundational filmmaking techniques used to this day. The film is exciting and compelling, every shot is art, and its legacy on the industry is yet to be overshadowed. It consistently makes top ten on ‘best films of all time’ lists to this day, rated the best foreign language film of all time by the BBC. All the actors are great, Toshiro Mifune is hot, the soundtrack by Fumio Hayasaka is iconic, and the film was technically magnificent for the time, with the techniques and effects frankly still blowing many modern blockbusters out of the water (ahem. marvel.) The film is also one of the most remade and reimagined films to date. Particularly of note is that The Magnificent Seven, one of the most famous films of all time (and criminally much more well-known than Seven Samurai) is explicitly a direct remake of Seven Samurai with the setting swapped. Frankly it’s no contest. All of Kurosawa’s films are brilliant, and were massively influential for their own reasons, but Seven Samurai is such a seminal piece of cinematic history that not including it would be nigh a crime.
Seven rōnin are hired to protect a village from bandits. This film has such a classic set-up and has been remade several times over (See: The Magnificent Seven, The Invincible Six, A Bug's Life honestly...). However, I personally think the original did it best. It's got the best action, the best characters (Toshiro Mifune my beloved), and just the best general direction. For a film that's over 3 hours, not a second of it feels wasted.
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari:
Arguably the first TRUE horror film! The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is a majorly influential German silent film from 1920, very easily streamed all over the place including YouTube! It had a tremendous impact on German and American cinema, especially in horror and later noir films, and featured fantastical elements of surrealism in its depictions and architecture that are incredibly endearing. The film is a tale of love, hypnotism, and murder. Fantastic plot twist for an early film, and Cesare is very very gender.

I’d like to think Jay and Nya are very funny because they are both mechanics, but in entirely opposite ways:
Nya has all her tools in proper order. In her workshop, there is never any scrap part going unused. Any notes and blueprints since the ripe age of 12 have been carefully stored and saved, no matter how much she cringes when looking back on them. The Samurai X designs and revisions have their own file cabinet as well as digital backups. Her measurements are double and triple checked, even though she probably had it right the first time. Every choice she makes is calculated and buffed out, from the interlocking gears to the paint job. She prides on her work on being practical and aesthetic, thank you very much.
Jay, meanwhile, is the definition of fuck around and find out. Blueprints? Who needs em, anyways? The only thing vaguely resembling “notes” in his work area are scrap pieces of paper with the most round-about mathematics ever (complete with indecipherable short-hand and a stick figure drawing of Jay holding a blowtorch, naturally.) He will change up plans on the fly and casually stick his hands in very sharp moving parts like there is no tomorrow. Safety equipment? He grew up in a junkyard. He had a wrench in his hand before he could walk. Yeah, no, he’s pretty sure he’s fine, thanks.
#what i’m getting at is jay and nya are both Very Smart and help balance each other out#nya is a perfectionist to the point of frustration and jay tends to be lax on things he should probably handle with more caution#the blueprints thing is just funny to me#because it leads nicely into my hc for dragons rising for when jay and sora meet and she eventually asks him to explain a past device#the next morning jay comes out with pretty clean sparkling blueprints with step by step notes explaining his thoughts#and nya just wrings him by the neck when she sees it#she’s like I HAVE BEEN ASKING YOU FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS—#jay walker#jay ninjago#nya jiang#nya ninjago#ninjago#jaya#ninjago jaya#golden writings

i found this blog by accident (i think the tumblr recommendations code or whatever figured out i have a polls addiction) and have had zero interest and experience in this topic but now. now i am so here. but i was wondering where i could go to watch movies with all these actors?? like i’m sure prime video or smthg might have a few classics hanging around but is there a service/website (of any legality) that specialises in vintage films and stuff? or is it really just physical media to get a lot of them? sry if this throws off your askbox, i didn’t know where else to ask! tyia <3
Hi!! I love this ask. Thanks for being here!
I don't know of any service that specializes in old movies, though HBO had a deal with TCM for a while that meant they had several classics on Max—I don't know if that's still a thing. In the meantime, though, the following websites all have "classic" channels that will be filled with great vintage movies to try:
Tubi—free streaming service that includes:
The Manchurian Candidate (Frank Sinatra, James Edwards)
The Philadelphia Story (James Stewart, Cary Grant)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Dick Van Dyke)
On The Town (Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra)
House on Haunted Hill (Vincent Price)
The Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn, Basil Rathbone)
A Streetcar Named Desire (Marlon Brando)
The Maltese Falcon (Humphrey Bogart)
Hoopla—free through many libraries:
The Court Jester (Danny Kaye, Basil Rathbone)
War and Peace (Jeremy Brett)
Barefoot in the Park (Robert Redford)
Cabin in the Sky (Rex Ingram)
Wings (Gary Cooper)
Kanopy—free through many libraries:
The General (Buster Keaton)
Flower Drum Song (James Shigeta)
Roman Holiday (Gregory Peck)
Seven Samurai (Toshiro Mifune)
His Girl Friday (Cary Grant)
Wuthering Heights (Laurence Olivier)
Sabrina (Humphrey Bogart)
Paris Blues (Sidney Poitier, Paul Newman)
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (Conrad Veidt)
Youtube also has TONS of movies that have slipped through copyright or "accidentally" ended up there:
Charade (Cary Grant)
The Gay Divorcee (Fred Astaire)
Lying Lips (Carman Newsome, Robert Earl Jones, Oscar Micheaux)
Stormy Weather (Harold Nicholas)
Rebecca (Laurence Olivier)
The Cheat (Sessue Hayakawa)
The Lady Vanishes (Michael Redgrave)
Jungle Book (Sabu Dastagir)
To Sir, With Love (Sidney Poitier)
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (Peter Falk)
What a Way to Go! (Dick Van Dyke, Gene Kelly, Paul Newman)
And of course there are methods of other legality if you want to go searching for titles by hand :)
I haven't seen all of the movies I list here—this is just a sampling of some famous ones, and a few of my secret faves—so be careful if you have trigger warnings and things. Hope you find some great movies!
#:D#i went a bit insane there. but you see. hot men!#if i had to pick one i'd say tubi has the best rotating selection?#anyway good luck anon!#asks#hotvintagethoughts

Mizu x Y/N - drabble - 886 WC
Masterlist
Warnings: blood, injury, mention of breasts but not in a sexual sense, healer reader, kissing, he and she used for Mizu, pretty fluffy tbh
-------------------------
“Lovely aren’t they?” you said to the mysterious man next to you in the secluded forest by your cottage. He nodded slightly, not responding verbally. You picked a smaller branch off the tree, a few soft pink cherry blossoms were scattered on it. You lifted the branch to your nose, breathing in the sweet smell of the flowers. You walked over to the man, placing the branch between the fold of his haori. You heard him suck in a sharp breath. You finally saw his face as he looked up to meet your gaze. He was strikingly beautiful. Sharp cheekbones, full lips, a button nose pink from the snow chill. But above all, his eyes. Your eyes widened slightly, never having seen such a shade in person. “Like the sea after a storm.” you whispered, not even realizing your hand had gone to gently hold his cheek. You felt him lean into your touch, sighing with content. He hadn’t been held in a while. The man started to slump against you, you heard him groan, his hand going to hold his side. You saw blood seeping through the blue cloth. You gasped, putting his arm around your shoulder and pulling him towards your house. Just as you crossed the threshold, he fell to his knees before falling unconscious. You pulled him towards the warm fire pit before pulling his glasses off and his haori open. You saw bandages wrapped around his chest, the gash led under the bandages so you quickly unwrapped them. Your eyes widened as you saw the samurai with two breasts. You shook your head, grabbing your stitching kit from your healers cabinet. You stitched her but didn’t rewrap her before pulling a blanket over her. You pulled her katana and glasses off so she could rest comfortably, setting it next to her so she wouldn’t panic when she woke.
You sat nearby, making tea and soba before stitching her haori up where something had slashed through it. You looked over to the samurai every once and a while, admiring them while also checking to see if they were comfortable. You sat and drank tea next to them when the stitching was done. A small huff left the samurai, causing you to look at them. Their face shifted slightly, a look of pain or fear scrunching their brows. Their body twitched randomly. She was running or fighting something in her dream. You put your tea down moving to sit next to her face; you smoothed your thumb over her cheekbones, hoping to calm her. You hummed a calming tune as your repeated this over and over. Her hand moved up to hold yours against her cheek yet she remained asleep.
“The most beautiful samurai…” you whispered. You stayed with her, holding her hand.
When the samurai woke, it was the dead of night. She shot up but instantly laid back down as the gash across her chest screamed at her for the sudden movement. You quickly made your way to her side. She instinctively scooted away from you. You held your hands up, showing you meant no harm. You passed her a loose shall to cover up with and not disturb her stitches. She pulled it on quickly.
“You can tell no one you have seen me. Is that understood?” she said in a gruff voice.
“Of course.” you said bowing your head, “Eat, drink, sleep. Regain some strength before you leave.” You got up and set down the tea and soba next to her before getting your own and eating across from her. “Eat. It’ll help you heal and keep the chill at bay.”
Mizu ate quickly, observing you the whole time. The faintest tattoo on your wrist caught her eye. It looked like a mirror.
“An old legend. Your face is that of the one you loved most in your past life.” you said, “The mirror reminds me to love myself, for I loved this face once… more than anything.” you said with a soft smile.
Mizu looked down, who could have possibly loved her face? Nobody. Perhaps she was a mere demon. She felt a gentle hand caress her cheek, tilting her chin up.
“I can see why one would love your face so much. Fire and water live within you. Such harmony is rare.” you smiled.
Mizu didn’t know why but she kissed the back of your hand. You had been nothing but kind, she didn’t know how to return it but this felt right. You blushed deeply, lifting her hand closer to your face and kissing the inside of her palm.
“It doesn’t bother you?” she asked softly.
“What?” you asked, rubbing your thumb over the inside of her hand in soothing patterns. “That you’re a woman? The heart cares not for such fickle things, only that it is loved.” you replied, smiling in a way that brought a warmth to Mizu that she hadn’t felt in years.
She sat up as best she could, pulling you to her so she could kiss you gingerly. Almost questioning her own actions. You kissed her back gently, soothing a thumb over her cheek bone to reassure her. She grew more confident, kissing you over and over again, chasing the warmth she felt when with you despite you being a stranger.

Reader who's a baker and they made cookies with taiju's face on it frfr
Taiju Shiba x baker! Wife!reader
omggg this was the cutest thing to write for!! Thank you for requesting this 💖
warnings: established relationship, they are married, female reader, usage of female pronouns, tooth rotting fluff
(Y/n) got up extra early, specifically before Taiju, to give him a little birthday surprise. The night earlier she had been scrolling on the phone her beloved husband had bought her when she came across another baking video but this one was special; the video was of a woman baking some cookies for her boyfriend as his birthday surprise but instead of normal frosting the woman had drawn her partners face onto the cookies using some frosting. Albeit, they came out looking a bit ragged but that’s expected when someone unlike you, an ameture at baking, attempts something like this. Instantly the idea stuck to (y/n) as she thought to herself how Taiju might like something so personal yet simple done for his special day.
This very same idea is the same thing that led her to set her alarm a whole three hours ahead of his, being extra sneaky at getting out of bed, and walking on the tips of her toes over to the kitchen in order to make said cookies. Being a professional baker herself, (Y/n) knew her way around making sweet treats and a kitchen. Reaching her gentle arms up into the kitchen cabinet to grab some flour, sugar, baking soda, and baking powder. She carefully walked over to the nearby counter, placing the dry ingredients nice and orderly near the large bowl she previously prepared last night.
Making sure to stay extra quiet, (y/n) began to preheat the oven to the necessary temperature needed before she turned around, beginning to quietly stir the flour, baking soda, and baking powder together in the said bowl laid out. She skillfully beat the sugar and butter together in the bowl along with the dry ingredients before whipping out her electric mixer until the batter was smoother than her beloved husband's pale skin. She mixed the dough as quietly as humanly possible in order to not wake her sleepy husband before she stopped mixing the ready-batter. She laid out a medium-sized metal baking sheet, rolling the dough into walnut-sized balls and placed 2 inches apart onto the ungreased baking sheets.
(Y/n) carefully and gently placed the baking sheet into the hot enough oven before setting the oven timer; sneaking back over into her and Taiju’s shared bedroom, crawling back in bed to snuggle into the large burly arms spread deliciously onto their large bed.
────── · · ୨୧ · · ──────
The loud obnoxious beeping of the oven timer had woken (Y/n) up from her light Power Nap, setting her in a rushed state of slight panic. She whipped her head around to check if her husband had slept through the beeping before jumping out of bed and running into the kitchen to shut the oven off. Once she effortlessly lifted the burning hot cooking sheet out of the oven with her beautiful golden cookies sitting perfectly on top. Setting the piping hot baking sheet down onto the rich white-marble counters, she then broke out her pre-used blue, yellow, black, and white frosting so she could hopefully draw Taiju’s face onto the cookies accurately.
With the concentration power of a samurai in-battle, she gripped the icing bags to perfectly draw her husband's handsome face onto the fresh sugar cookies, some coming out less than satisfactory but all delicious! Before she knew it her small batch of ten cookies, all with Taiju’s poorly-drawn looking face plastered on them all. With a satisfactory sigh (Y/n) had stepped back, wanting to see her yummy birthday treats all at once, only to be very disappointed at how mediocre she managed to mess up Taiju’s face on the cookies.
Due to the slightly drippy frosting, his face turned more into a blob of colors rather than just him. (Y/n) felt very, very upset at how poorly his face had turned out but she didn’t let that deter her from making her husband the happiest man ever on his birthday. After all, every great professional has made some less than satisfactory works but that never stopped them! She stifled a laugh behind her now frosting covered hands as she continued to stare at her failed attempt at his face.
She felt content with her amazing, and delightful golden sugar cookies, so she happily skipped over to where her husband laid peacefully still in his unbothered slumber where she stood over him, waking him with many warm loving kisses to his face to wake the man up. Taiju’s eyes fluttered open upon the feeling of his wife's soft lips on his skin, turning over to stare at her in confusion but with a lazy smile on his face. “What’s that fo’?” Taiju sleepily slurred out as he rolled his head over to face his lovely wife. She carefully positioned him upwards to that Taiju was now sitting up in the bed before taking his hand to lead him towards her creation.
By now, Taiju has had a chance to wake himself up more and to be more aware. His face contorted in utter confusion before asking what had been on his mind for the past few minutes, “Where are ya leadin’ me, doll?” Taiju playfully asked in his usual deep manly voice; (Y/n) just looked back at him with a devious smile on her face before walking into the kitchen happily shouting ‘Happy Birthday!’ As soon as Taiju walked in immediately after her. While she announced his surprise she grabbed hold of the now cool baking sheet with the Taiju cookies in hand, nudging them towards him like a cat showing its owner the new prey it’s captured in hopes for praise.
Taiju took a moment to study the cookies in front of him before noticing the similar features him and the cookies had. Realizing these cookies had his face on them, he broke out into a gleeful spout of laughter as he grabbed the metal sheet out of his petite wife’s hands, carefully placing it onto the counter behind her, and wrapping his large beefy arms around her in a warm loving embrace. His bellowing but light-hearted laughs seized before snuggling into his wife’s hair, whispering praises and thanks. “You're the best, (Y/n).” He warmly complimented before reaching around her with one arm and sneaking one cookie for breakfast.

... thoughts? (Full idea under cut)
What if someone who knows how to use vocal synths like. Made a vocaloid version of Hamilton. Assign each member of the cast a character that sings for them. It'd probably be a community project if it happened, because that's a big undertaking, but it would also be more fun as a community thing. I don't really know how to use these programs, (I have tried to make Teto say things, and technically I have succeeded in making her say things) BUT I can brainstorm casting ideas with my limited knowledge of fanon Vocaloid personalities!
As indicated by the picture above Hatsune Miku would probably take the role of Hamilton. Her being the most popular Vocaloid makes her a prime candidate for title character. Also I just like the image above with Miku's silhouette on the star with her name.
Idk who Burr would be. Flower maybe? Off the top of my head. Is there someone who it would make sense to oppose Miku in the way that Burr does? An anti-miku? Neru? Nah, I've got better plans for Neru...
You can't spell Laurens without L en. You can spell Philip without it, but that doesn't matter, he's going to be playing that role anyway. It just feels kinda natural for me, as he's pretty young and boyish, which fits Philip, and I feel it fits Laurens too. There's no Len's-relationship-to-Miku-mirrors-Laurens-relationship-to-Hamilton to this or anything, I'm pretty sure that's the case for most of these.
Lafayette is Teto this is a fact. They're both so silly and they like baguettes they're the baguette bois I need this so bad someone give me a Teto cover of guns and ships and I will love you please I feel this in my soul.
Also, I like the idea of Teto in the second act wearing a flashy red coat and debating with Miku in the cabinet. She's perfect for this role.
Mulligan/Madison? Uh. Idk. Again. Flower? Again? Maybe Fukase? I will probably form a stronger opinion on this/borrow someone else's opinion later.
The Schuyler Sisters!
I'd say MEIKO has good strong eldest sister energy fit for Angelica. Also they're both red.
For Eliza, my first instinct is to say Luka, although there's also a voice in my head saying Gumi, and there's also probably someone outside of my head who has another idea that might be better. ?
Rin has big "and Peggy" vibes.
For Washington I want to say KAITO or Guackpo, like, a tall, imposing man. KAITO would be perfect if it weren't for the fact that in most fan works I've seen, KAITO's pretty goofy, and Washington really isn't. I think that that's probably just bias though, he's not always like that. He could make a great Washington. Idk much about Guackpo but it could probably fit. He's a samurai. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything, but maybe it could.
Philip Schuyler as Neru. I initially thought of this as a joke, as Schuyler doesn't speak a word himself, and Neru has no official voicebank (I personally headcanon her as mute), but Neru as his second act counterpart, James Reynolds, could be really interesting? Neru hates Miku so much that she decides to extort her for money and ruin her career? It feels very in character for Neru to do some of this stuff in a way, it just feels right I guess.
So that's. Most of the main characters. Or all of them. Unless I'm forgetting someone. I have no ideas for side characters other than the Neru ideas. I feel like the utau default voice whose name I don't know off the top of my head should be in there somewhere. Maybe. Maybe the one with the big blue thing on her head. The young one. In positive dance time. Idk there's lots of Vocaloids and lots of characters (but there's more Vocaloids) and I need to end this post now goodbye.

KusaHigu : After Hours ** 18+ MDNI!!!** This is a gift for @jjk-eugie
Kusakabe anxiously shuffled the stack of reports on his desk, running his hand over his tired face in frustration over the last-minute paperwork. It was already late in the afternoon, and he needed to be home by five. It was Wednesday, date night, and he'd promised to make Hiromi curry udon. As he heard the office door creak open, he glanced at his watch and realized it was well past time to go.
"I'm almost done," he called towards the door, recognizing the familiar sound of Hiromi's footsteps. Kusakabe turned to sift through the files in the cabinet, but he froze when he felt a hand slowly drift up his thigh. He dropped the folder he was holding as he looked down to see Hiromi kneeling on the floor in front of him.
"That's a hell of a way to get my attention," the samurai said softly, raising an eyebrow. Just the sight of Higuruma on his knees was enough to -- no. They were at work.
With a gentle touch, Higuruma pressed his hand against Kusakabe's hip and nudged him back against the desk. His gaze fixed on the slight bulge in Atsuya's pants, he ran his palm up the inside of Kusakabe's leg and reached for his belt.
A deep, baritone voice interrupted. "Hiromi."
"I've already locked the door," Higuruma replied, running his fingers over the belt's smooth leather. He traced the cool metal of the buckle, the sound of the clasp clicking open filling the quiet room. Leaning forward, the lawyer slid his hands inside the waistband of Kusakabe's pants, tugging them down slowly. "Please. You've never let me do this," he whispered as he kissed Atsuya's growing hardness through his boxers.
The statement caught Kusakabe off guard; he couldn't believe he was actually considering this idea, but his body was overriding all of his rational thought as Higuruma's hot breath seeped through the fabric. He watched in slow motion as his partner's delicate hands inched his boxers down, and as his cock sprang free, the last of his reservations crumbled.
"Hiromi, you don't have to. I don't want you to get overstimula-- Ohhhh fuck," Atsuya groaned. He knew that Higuruma's lips were soft. Every night, he kissed them before drifting off to sleep, brushed against them in the heat of passion as they were tangled up in bed. But this -- this feeling was something completely different. The soft press of those lips sent a shiver racking through his body.
Higuruma's tongue darted out, swirling around the head and savoring the bit of saltiness building up there. Glancing up, he saw his partner settle against the desk and lean back, tilting his hips slightly to allow for better access. Hiromi gave another soft lick, teasing along the top of Atsuya's shaft and up to the vee of his hip before trailing back down along the same path.
The slick roll of Higuruma's tongue made heat coil at Kusakabe's core, and he took in a sharp breath as he watched the lawyer take him into his mouth. "Shit, Hiromi. Since when did you," he started, but his voice ground to a halt as the other man inched down further, and suddenly, he found himself unbearably hard and leaking pre-come down Higuruma's throat.
Hiromi hummed in contentment as he sank deeper. Pressing his tongue against the thick vein on the bottom of Atsuya's shaft, he pulled back, sliding up along the rounded curves and back to the tip. He reached up and ran his palm along his lover's stomach, fingertips trailing along his muscles and down the inside of his thigh. Slowly, he slid his fingers over Atsuya's length, lapping at the tip as he slowly started to snake his palm around it.
A low growl came from the depths of Kusakabe's chest, his eyes fixed on the man between his legs. With half-lidded eyes, Hiromi looked up at him, those deep, dark pools filled with desire, and Atsuya's heart pounded against his chest. No words passed between them because nothing needed to be said. There was only the soft suck of Higuruma's lips and the wet glide of his hand. Kusakabe groaned as his partner took him fully in again, and he gripped the desk so hard he was worried he might break it.
Higuruma drew in a deep breath and sank down in one motion, burying his nose into Atsuya's soft hair and letting out a blissful sigh. He started to move in earnest, hollowing his cheeks and sinking deep on each drag.
The sight of his cock moving in and out of Hiromi's throat made the samurai's breath quicken, each flick of the tongue making the heat in his groin coil tighter. He trembled as he reached out his arm, unsure of whether to make contact. In response, Higuruma leaned forward and guided his hand toward his head. As Atsuya threaded his hand through Hiromi's curls, a familiar shade of pink crept up on the lawyer's cheeks, letting Kusakabe know that his lover was enjoying this just as much as he was.
The floorboards creaked as Higuruma shifted on his knees, spreading his thighs and kneading at his pants. Fumbling with his belt buckle, he finally eased himself out, all the while keeping gentle pressure on Atsuya's length, now sliding full and heavy against his tongue.
Kusakabe's hips twitched reflexively and Higuruma moaned, the hum of the vibration running through the samurai's body like wildfire. He slid his hand down to the nape of Hiromi's neck and paused. "Can I?" he asked quietly. The lawyer nodded and tilted his head back, relaxing his jaw, and Atsuya gave a slow roll into his mouth. Conscious of his lover's sensitivity, he started slow, allowing him time to adjust before sliding further in.
Gently holding the back of Higuruma's head, Kusakabe gently guided him back and forth, feeling the heat around him grow tighter as he settled into a quicker pace. He angled the lawyer's head, easing forward and encouraging him to take him even deeper.
"You're so beautiful like this," Atsuya murmured. Drunk on the sensations running through him, Kusakabe thrust up firmly into the lawyer's mouth. As he heard Hiromi gag, he instantly froze and pulled back, a look of concern on his face. "Are you okay?" he asked softly.
Higuruma reached out, this time to grab Atsuya's other hand, placing it on his head as he pulled him closer. He heard a deep groan as he took in all of Atsuya's length and ran his tongue down along his sensitive skin. His cock still in hand, Hiromi gently tugged on himself, rubbing his fingers over the tip and back down again as he stroked himself in time with Kusakabe's hips. A warm trail of pre-come spilled over his lips, trailing down and dripping on his suit as he bobbed his head faster.
Atsuya could feel the heat building under his skin, and his head rolled back. The feeling of pushing into Hiromi left him lightheaded and dizzy. His knees went weak and started to shake, leaving the desk as the only thing supporting him as he struggled to stay upright. Cradling Hiromi's head in his hands, he slowed down slightly, looking into his eyes as he spoke. "Hiromi, I'm getting close."
Higuruma adjusted on his knees and began to stroke himself faster, taking in a long breath as he pushed back against the movement of Atsuya's hips. His hand lost all rhythm as Kusakabe canted his hips and pushed himself deeper. He tilted his head back, his eyes dark and pleading as he silently begged his lover to push him over the edge.
That hungry expression was all it took. Kusakabe tangled his hands in the lawyer's hair and pushed himself in as deep as he could go. Hiromi whined as he spilled into his hand, the sound muffled as the samurai held his head in place and came down his throat. Hiromi paused, moaning softly as he swallowed. He let Atsuya slowly slide out of his mouth, giving the tip one last lick before rising to his feet.
Kusakabe gently brushed his thumb along the sharp line of the lawyer's chin before planting a soft kiss on the bridge of his nose. "I guess this means I owe you dinner," Atsuya joked. As he playfully tugged his partner close, the old desk finally gave way. They tumbled to the ground, with Hiromi landing on top of him.
"Mhm, let's skip dinner," Hiromi murmured, his lips brushing against Kusakabe’s ear. "I think I have something more exciting in mind."
A sudden, loud knock brought them both to attention.
"Sensei," Miwa's worried voice called from the other side, "Is everything okay? I heard a loud noise."
Higuruma's eyes darted to Kusakabe, a mild look of panic on his face. Atsuya reached for a lollipop and tucked it in the corner of his mouth. "Hey, don't look at me," he said with a smirk. "You're the lawyer."

Woe! Transgender samurai be upon ye!
-pulling my old OC out of the filing cabinet and giving him a shampoo- LOOK I HAVE A NEW CHILD!! :D
I've decided to rework an old story/universe from several years ago, so here we go again, from the top:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
暁の物語 Akatsuki no Monogatari
光 Hikari
Hikari, aka Shitaikou, is a young ronin, a master-less samurai, wandering around Edo-era Japan on a soul-searching journey.
He was raised as a girl named Sayoko (小夜子) by a samurai family, and taught swordsmanship and the arts like his brothers, although he was never destined to become a warrior. When the time came to find him a husband, he stole two swords, ran away and changed his name.
He now walks the roads of Japan on a quest to find [insert as-of-yet undefined quest here], and offers his assistance to villagers on the way. In doing so, he often runs into yokais and other paranormal occurences, to the point where in time he becomes an expert on the occult underworld of Japan and is often nicknamed the Demon Samurai.
Hikari is accompanied in his travels by Chihiro (千尋), a kitsune, and by Mochi (餅), a totally normal cat with the usual amount of tails and absolutely no supernatural powers, no siree. He is also regularly involved with an onnagata (a cross-dressing kabuki actor) and a yokai-hunting Buddhist monk, both of which I have yet to name (Mochi's name is also susceptible of being changed soon), and meets all kinds of strange people on his travels.
Hikari has a kind heart and a strong sense of honour. His driving force is his desire to help others; although he is very naive at first, and misguided altruism often gets him in trouble. As the story progresses, he will grow more mature and cynical, often preferring the company of yokais to that of humans, but trying to retain hope and faith in his fellow men.
(You can see older drawings of Hikari, including different outfits, here)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Akatsuki no Monogatari (the Tale of Dawn) takes place in the very beginning of the Edo era, in the transition years between the warring period of the Sengoku-Jidai and the two hundred years of peace under the Tokugawa shogunate. It is a story about change and beginnings, both of a person and of a country.
Some name lore under the cut!
The kanji Hikari 光 means "light". Hikari is a "public first name", sort of an official nickname. It was common practice in feudal Japan (at least among the samurai class) to go by a public name and keep your real name private. In Hikari's case, that is also because he often frequents yokais and magicians, who could use his true name against him.
His real name is Shitaikou 志泰光 . The kanjis composing it mean "aspire", "gentle" and "light". He chose it as a reminder to himself to strive for kindness and to make the world a better place.
("Hikari" is the last kanji composing this name. When used with other kanjis, it is pronouced "kou". Such is the messed-up way kanjis work. -frustrated weeb noises-)
Hikari doesn't have a last name; he gave up his family's name when he ran away and saw no use in taking a new one: as a ronin he is not tied to any family.
His birth name, Sayoko 小夜子 , is composed of the kanjis "small", "night" and "daughter". Hence the title, Akatsuki no Monogatari, the tale of dawn, or how the night turns into the light.
#formerly this universe was called hakatsuki no monogatari because i had somehow convinced myself that akatsuki starts with an h (??????????)#the as-of-yet undefined quest may be a quest for a gender-transing yokai or deity#i need to do more research into shinto and buddhist deities i'm sure there must be one that fit the bill#or i can just use inari. their gender is unclear and their messenger animal is a fox which is well-known for shapeshifting#anyway i need to draw the rest of the cast and find a name for the onnagata#spoiler she's hikari's gf and they're T4T <3#my ocs#hikari#akatsuki no monogatari#samurai#ronin#japan#edo#transgender#blorbo from my brain

I miss how mornings in the Von Karma household used to be. Papa would make fresh pancakes or eggs benedict, and I’d look over his shoulder as he read the morning paper, scanning for any mention of his latest court victories. It always gave me a hint of pride when I caught Papa’s name in the paper, and I hoped that one day, I would be able to be just as talented and amazing as he was. Miles would sip his morning tea in his porcelain teacups, the scent of lemon or chamomile or ginger wafting through the kitchen, and I would slip Missile scraps of my breakfast from under the dining table.
The house was different back then. Livelier, busier, more alive. Now it feels like a relic, a museum, as I wander the halls alone, trying my best to evade Papa’s piercing eyes staring into me from his portraits.
I keep expecting to hear the sounds of the Steel Samurai theme playing from the living room TV, or wake up to the smell of Miles’ tea or Papa’s delicious pancakes. I keep, instinctively, wanting to look out the window, waiting for Papa’s car to show up in the garage so he can come home and tell me all about his day in court. He’d hold my hand, scoop me up in his firm, sturdy arms, and tell me he was sorry he was gone for so long, that this was all a horrible mistake, that none of what Miles told me that December morning was true and he was still the same man I thought he was…
But those are a fool’s daydreams.
Sitting in Papa’s old study, in his leather chair that’s far too big for me, I can’t help but feel like a child playing with her father’s hand-me-downs. In court, I feel powerful, grown-up, like the respected prosecutor and legend I am. I feel like myself. But here, in this house, for whatever reason, I still feel like a little girl. I’ve thought about redecorating before, making this space feel truly mine. But even if this study, this house, is in my name now, somehow changing anything about it feels like sacrilege.
I keep checking my phone for a notification or message from Miles. A missed call, anything. Just answer my calls. Just tell me where you are. Anything.
But no, my little brother has been MIA since that horrible December day, when he called me from across the sea to tell me the news. Franziska, your papa is dead. Your papa is a criminal.
Missile barks softly from his velvet dog bed. Absentmindedly, I run my fingers through his fur, remembering how Miles and I would chase him through the house once upon a time. He wags his tail in contentment, padding over to the cherry-wood cabinet where Papa kept his case files.
“You’re right, I’ve spent more than enough time rotting in this old house like a fool. I need to get back to the courtroom. I need to show the world that despite this setback, I am still an unstoppable force. I may have lost Papa, I may not know where Miles is, I may be alone. But I am still a Von Karma, and I can still crush my opponents into dust beneath my heel.”
I pick up my whip, feeling more confident the second I feel the comforting texture of the leather in my hand.
I am Franziska von Karma, and I refuse to be thwarted by my circumstances.
Papa would be proud.
