Biting his lip hard enough to bleed, Izuku braced himself and met the Detective's gaze. Getting straight to the point, Tsukauchi set his papers on the table.

“Are you the U.A. traitor?”

Izuku could barely hear him over the pounding of his own heart, but he briefly closed his eyes and straightened. Inwardly, he damned that sentence and the chaos he knew it would cause.

Steeling himself, he met Tsukauchi's eyes. “Yes.” ---- You've seen suspected traitor Midoriya, now get ready for proven traitor Midoriya. At least, sorta. Kind of. What follows is a story that would put Todoroki's wildest conspiracy theory to shame.

Did I mention that Midoriya is Hawks's brother? AU world in which yes, Midoriya has wings. U.A. events still in here but don't follow the BNHA timeline.

“Hey Peter. You okay?” Steve askedquietly, shoving his hands deep into his pockets as he walked up next to him,looking down at the grave Peter was standing in front of. Quill didn’t react.

“Peter?” Steve repeated, reachingout and touching his shoulder gently. He jumped under the touch, startling andlooking around dazedly before his eyes landed on Steve.

“Oh, hey man.” He said, snifflingand smiling a small smile as his eyes fell back to the ground.

“It feels strange doesn’t it? I mean,strange probably isn’t the right word for it… I don’t know why I said that.There’s a different word for it I just don’t know what it is.” Steve said.Peter looked at him, his eyes shining with tears, that small smile still on hislips.

“Your rambling Rogers.” He saidwith a laugh.

“But, I know what you mean.” He said,bumping his shoulder into Steve’s gently.

“I just-“ Steve watched as Petertook a deep breath.

“I never really thought about it yaknow? Coming back here, visiting her. It just feels… strange. But good.” He said,looking at Steve again. Steve smiled at him.

“Sometimes, out there,” Peterpaused and pointed at the sky.

“In space.” He said, laughing whenSteve chuckled next to him.

“Sometimes it just felt like… like Iwas the only one who had a memory of her ya know. Sometimes it even felt alittle like I’d just made her up. Not like… I mean, I know she existed, and shewas my mom, and I loved her, so much. It’s just that, when you’re the onlyperson with memories of something it can feel a little unreal sometimes yaknow? Does that make any sense?” Peter asked, grimacing as he looked at Steve.Steve smiled and gave Peter’s shoulder a squeeze.

“It makes perfect sense to me.”Steve said. Peter nodded and smiled.

“And being here. Seeing this. Thisreminder of her. This proof that she was here, that she’s remembered. Thatpeople cared about her. It just feels… good. It’s just kind of overwhelmingafter not thinking about it for so long. Or like…ever.” Peter said, he tried tolaugh it off and it came out as strangle sob. Steve’s heart broke in his chesta little and he pulled him into a hug.

“It’s okay. I got you.” Stevewhispered into his shoulder as Peter wrapped his arms around Steve and heldonto him tightly.

“I know this might not help. But I knowhow it feels. When I came out of the ice and came back and everything wasdifferent. It was hard. It was so hard. And I used to go the grave yard andtalk to my parents and just, it was a relief to get it out, but it’s like yousaid. It’s all so overwhelming. But hey,” he pulled away from the hug and heldon to Peter’s shoulders, looking at him intently.

“You’ve got a good group of peoplearound you Peter. And in my experience, that helps. It’s a big help actually.Life changing in fact.” Steve said with a smile. Peter smiled back, sniffled,and wiped at his nose.

“I know it hurts. It probablyalways will. But if you ever need anything. I’m here okay? And I’m sure yourfriends, or… your family, will be there for you too. No matter what. From what Ican tell, that’s sort of your guys’ thing.” Steve said. Peter laughed andlooked at him.

“Yeah. They’re pretty great. I gotlucky. I mean they’re assholes. My god,are they assholes. But they’re my assholes. And I kinda love ‘em.” Peter said,trying to look serious and not able to stop the smile when Steve laughed.

“Thanks Steve.” He said, goingserious faster than Steve was really able to process, he had that way about him.He could go from serious to silly in the time it took to blink, and Steve wasn’tsure he’d ever get used to that. But he liked it, he knew that for sure.

“You’re welcome.” Steve said with anod. Peter nodded back and then they both turned away and headed for the cemeterygate. They were half way there when Peter stopped and looked back over hisshoulder.

“Bye mom.” He said, almostwhispered, waving and then tuning back around. Steve saw a tear fall down ischeek. Peter smiled at him and they continued walking. Steve put his arm overPeter’s shoulder as they walked under the gate, pulling him close with a smile.
