What are your fears concerning Osamu next chapter? I'm interested to hear... also, I love your blog!!
Thank you!
Well, Ihave two fears, actually. The first one is that we get color pages next chapter(only three days left!) and the last time we got color pages I was hoping tosee the twins’ official colors but we got nothing. So what if it’s the same thistime and Furudate trolls us again? But if we actually get the colors, I’mterrified in case the official colors are different from my headcanons.
Now, a moreserious fear concerning the plot: I know everyone was super excited about thetwins doing the quick successfully, but I’m deeply worried about it. I mean,it’s clearly the first type of quick Hinata and Kageyama did. (The second one requires way more work andcan’t be performed that easily; I mean, even someone as talented as Kageyamaneeded a lot of practice until he managed to stop the ball where he wanted itto stop. And even then, it still failed a few times during matches, until hemanaged to sync with Hinata.)
I’ve beentalking a lot about how I predict some sort of conflict between the twins, andnow that we got that quick? My mind immediately went back to this:
Tumblr media
This wasthe result of the first quick that Hinata and Kageyama used in the past. Imean, it worked at first, but only because Hinata was a rookie and he evenclosed his eyes to hit the ball, trusting that Kageyama would do 100% of thework.
But in theend, Hinata evolved and he decided he wanted to be an active part of theprocess as well. The fight happened, and in the end Kageyama and Hinata workedto find a new quick in which the effort is balanced. It’s 50% Kageyama’s work, but another 50% of Hinata being aware of how he is the one who leads theattack, and decides the tempo, and controls where he wants the ball to go.
And all ofthis happened because Hinata realized that the old quick could be stopped (bySeijoh, in this case). Because once it reached his hand, he had no control overthe ball.
Now, backto the twins. We are slowly getting to know them both. We get to see parts oftheir personality, of how each of them deals with stuff, and I think we canagree that they’re quite different.
But ifthere’s something we can be sure of, something they both share, is the factthat they are not rookies.
This is myown personal interpretation, and of course I could be wrong, but here’s my twocents on what’s happening with the twins: Atsumu is trying to control the team.He wants to become the new king. And the quickest (no pun intended) way to getthere is to claim full control over his own brother. He could have chosen any spiker to hit the ball (they are all wonderful players), but he specifically chose his own brother.
The quick he uses is thequick Kageyama and Hinata used first, the one where only the setter has controlof the ball. If you need more proof on why it’s that type of quick, look at howstraight the ball goes. If Osamu hadn’t hit it, it would have gone away in astraight line (unlike Kageyama’s new quick in which the ball stops right wherethe spiker is). And that’s why Atsumu insisted on getting the timing properly. But Atsumu ended up stripping Osamu of his power of decision, of his control over the ball. Osamu ends up being treated as just a tool to get points.
Now, backto Hinata and Kageyama: that fight they had? I don’t know about you, but that was one of the mostterrifying fights I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t played for laughs anymore, as theusual KageHina fights are. That one was so serious that it left me heartbroken, and those who know me are well aware of how much I suffered it throughoutseason 2.
And nowback to the twins: I am terrified of witnessing a similar fight between them. Because Osamu didn’t seem happy about that quick. At all. Maybe that’sjust his personality, but I’ve seen himexpress several emotions, and even if he was deadpan on the outside, we wouldhave known about his happiness through his thoughts. The guy thinks a lot. He could have screamed internallywith happiness over that point. But he definitely didn’t seem happy with thatquick, and we will have to see how he reacts next chapter.
I don’tthink the twins would have a fight like the KageHina one in the middle of thematch, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this tension between them had alreadybeen there for some time and they had fought before. Maybe after the training camp, or even earlier. Westill need to get more background information to decide what kind ofrelationship the twins have, and what kind of conflict is going on betweenthem. But they certainly don’t seem to me like the kind of twins with anincredibly strong bond, who never fight and always agree on everything, even ifthe first time they appeared, the narrative made it look like they had eachother’s back all the time.
Maybethey could talk about their disagreement during a time out, and who knows… they mightend up fighting there. And one of them might end up being benched. And I don’twant Osamu to be benched for any reason. And I don’t want to see anothertraumatic fight.
(I’m lying.I want to suffer. There are so many angst options and I want all of them. Makeme cry, Furudate. Hard. Give me the injury, the brother drama, the fights, everything. As long as you give me a lot of Osamu, I will stand all kinds ofpain.)
In summary, I’m afraid of the official colors the twins might get, and the kind of conflict that could arise between them because of the quick. I think Furudate will want us to suffer during this match.
