Behind the scenes - Sweet Pea
Request: “Hi there!! I was wondering if you could do a sweet pea imagine where the reader is Josie’s understudy in the musical and sweet pea never really noticed her because he was too focused on Josie and after he hears her sing “fight for me” to him in the musical he falls head over heels for her and keeps trying to be nice and protective of her because she’s small and quite..? Sorry I know that’s a lot”
Pairings: Sweet Pea x reader
Warnings: small panic attack and Reggie Mantle being a creeeeeppppppeeeerrrrrr
Summary: Sweet Pea can’t help but take notice of you when he catches you singing “fight for me” in the role of Josie’s understudy in the musical. Over the next few weeks, you take notice of the lingering stares you can never seem to catch and the significant disappearance of trouble around you
N/A: its literally like they just said “serpents”? “Sweetpea”? don't know her, and threw my boy out the window. Also, i might edit this later and add to it UPDATE: I EDITED AND ADDED MORE
Despite your role of leading understudy in the Riverdale Highschool musical production of Heathers, you still attended every practice. Of course, that decision was influenced by Kevin and Fangs. In the chance that something went wrong, which would certainly not be an absurd occurrence in Riverdale, they needed you to be prepared.
You spent most practices sitting on the floor by Kevin and Fang's table, catching up on classwork and playing stupid games on your phone that made the time pass faster. The last 30 minutes of practice, were always designated for you. That was your time to shine.
Josie didn’t really deserve the leading role, at least, that what your parents had told you many many times over. There were certainly people who agreed, Betty Cooper for example. Others would soon come to this conclusion too.
“(y/n), when the basketball guys get back in 10 minutes, you’re up,” Kevin smiled down at you. You smiled back in confirmation.
The start of the musical season, at Riverdale, always interfered with the end of the basketball season. And thus, all basketball players were late to musical rehearsals. Fangs still managed to be around for some musical practices, this was actually the first he had been able to attend in two weeks.
“Kevin, I don’t see the point in her practicing, no offence, y/n, if she’s not performing,” Josie complained.
“Why don’t you focus on yourself instead of worrying about y/n, God knows you need the practice,” Cheryl scoffed. Putting a hand over your mouth, you tried to hide your laughter. Josie scoffed and rolled her eyes at Cheryl in response. Cheryl sent you a wink from across the room.
Cheryl and you had never been more than friendly to each other, a few hellos’s in the hallway, helping each other with a few questions and equations for class occasionally. Her desire to defend you against Josie was a surprise, weren’t the two of them friends?
Kevin sighed and shook his head the interaction between the two girls. “Alright, take five. When we come back (y/n)’s up.”
Right on cue, in walked Sweet Pea and Reggie. The two of them definitely didn't seem like the musical type, but none the less, here they were.
Reggie scanned the group of theatre kids and when his eyes met yours, a smile grew on his face.
Reggie mantle was like the plague. Nobody wanted him to be there, but there he was; He was behind every door you opened, around the bend of every corner, he was in every class you have had since freshman year.
Reggie Mantle didn't know what the phrased “go away” or “leave me alone” meant.
An audibly loud sigh left your mouth when he started toward you. Sweet Pea chuckled lightly at this, the annoyance present in your body language.
“How’s my favourite girl?” he grinned wrapping his arm around your shoulders.
You shrugged his arm off and took a step backward, “Not your girl, Mantle; not even your friend.”
“Ouch,” Reggie winced, holding a hand to his chest in mock hurt. Cheryl and Toni laughed from beside the two of you. You and Toni made eye contact briefly, sending each other a small smile.
“Give it up, Reggie. You’ve been chasing (y/n) since freshman year and she doesn’t even want to touch you with a ten-foot pole,” Cheryl snapped. Wow, she really did have your back today.
“She’d touch me, isn't that right, (y/n)?” he grinned taking another step toward you. You grimaced at the pearly white teeth poking through his menacing smile, a chill travelled down your spine.
“Your doctor doesn’t even want to touch you, Mantle, give it up,” Toni snarled.
Kevin let out a puff of air in frustration, “Alright, back to work,” he redirected the group.
With a small sigh you made your way up onto the stage, Josie stomping her feet on the way to her seat behind you.
You were never one for creating drama, Riverdale surely had enough of that, but if Josie continued to complain about your involvement in the play, there was going to be a problem.
“Alright, (y/n),” Kevin clicked his pen four times, “Fight for Me.”
You watched as Ms. Grenvell reached her hands out and started playing the introductory beat on the piano. Taking a deep breath in, you were ready.
Why when you see boys fight Does it look so horrible Yet... feel so right? I shouldn't watch this crap That's not who I am But with this kid… Daaaaamn
Josie rolled her eyes at you from her seat in the front row. Her legs kicked to sit over each other. Her arms crossed in annoyance.
Hey, mister no-name kid So who might you be? And could you fight for me Hey, could you face the crowd Could you be seen with me and still act proud Hey, could you hold my hand And could you carry me through no man's land It's fine if you don't agree But I would fight for you If you would fight for me
The serpents had never been around long enough or even interested enough to learn your name, but they certainly were now. The rise and fall of your voice was angelic, your articulation exquisite.
Toni’s face held shock, Fangs’ held admiration, and Sweet Pea’s held a smile. Pea may have not known much about Riverdale High or the people who attended it, but he certainly wanted to now.
∘ ♔♔♔ ∘
The halls of Riverdale High had been quiet all week. The absence of Riverdale’s very own Mantle the Magnificant’s presence really put into perspective how little interaction you had with your fellow students. You had friends, but with the amount of Reggie Mantle that usually hung off your neck, they chose to keep their distance.
Reggie Mantle hadn’t tried saying anything to you in two days, he hadn’t even looked at you. For the first time in 2 years, you didn't live in a constant state of uncomfortable. And while Reggie’s lingering eyes had stopped, they were replaced with a new pair. Only this time they weren’t bad, they belonged to Sweet Pea.
You have never had a conversation with him, maybe a few head nods and small smiles here and there. When you heard that the Southside Serpents would be attending Riverdale Highschool, not even your greatest and wildest dreams could have brought your current reality to life.
Sweet Pea, arguably one of the toughest Serpents of his age, despite what his name claimed, took a liking to you. As cliche as it sounds, you were so painfully oblivious.
Sweet Pea spent months scaring the scoundrel’s of Riverdale High away from you. He spent months trying to figure out how to talk to you. He spent months trying not to fall deeper in love with you.
You spent months, for the first time since freshman year, hanging out with your friends and enjoying yourself. You spent months unbothered by the chaos of Riverdale. You spent months blind to Sweet Pea’s excessive starring and attempts to talk to you.
That was until one fateful day in January. Everyone had just arrived back from the break. And teens out of school surely meant trouble in Riverdale. The rivalry between the Serpents and the Bulldogs had been brewing, things were getting tense.
Slamming the door to your locker shut, there he was, Reggie Mantle, in all of his ignorance. With the roll of your eyes and sigh, you turned to look at him. Reggie slowly pushed you against the lockers, a smirk played on his lips. Your breath hitched in your throat at the unwanted contact.
“Miss me?” he grinned, hot breath fanning your face.
“Definitely not, Mantle,” you groaned. You tried pushing him off but to no avail, he still stood uncomfortably close.
This interaction must have been enough to push Sweet Pea over the edge. The next thing you knew, Sweet pea’s fist was hitting Reggie's face and Reggie’s face was hitting the floor. Your hand flew to your mouth, eyes wide.
Toni and Fangs stood nearby, along with a few Serpents who stood at each end of the Hallway to watch for teachers. A few students cheered as Sweat pea’s fists reconnected with Reggie’s body again and again and again.
“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Mantle,” Sweet Pea yelled pulling Reggie up to his face by the collar of his shirt. “You bother (y/n) again and I’ll beat you to a pulp,” he spits. With that, he drops Reggie’s collar, the boy’s head hitting the ground harshly. Sweet Pea looks over to you, but when the two of you make eye contact, he freezes like a deer in the headlights.
Someone yells out that Weatherbee is coming, but with all the yelling in the hallway, and the bulldogs emerging from god knows where, you get lost in the commotion.
Your back hits your locker as your eyes try to make sense of the scene in front of you. Your chest tightens and your breathing shallows, you wrap your arms around yourself.
A warm hand grabs yours, and you’re pulled away from the loud fighting crowd in the hallway of Riverdale High. The hand is large, it incases yours entirely. You can’t see much as you’re lead through the crowd, but you’re able to make out the slicked greasy hair and the worn leather jacket of the serpent in front of you.

Pathetic, Clinging Poetry - Chapter 22 (of 25)
Previous Chapter // Next Chapter
"I'm dead." Pearl sank down into the grass and buried her face into her palms. "I can't believe I actually did something so stupid!"
"Stop being so dramatic." Rose sighed and rolled her eyes, sitting down beside her. "So far, nobody's even suspected it was us. We probably won't even get in trouble, and even if we do, you're still not gonna flat out die."
"You know I didn't mean it literally!" Pearl blurted out, her words coming out far harsher than she'd meant them to. Recoiling, she clasped her hands together and placed them on her lap, taking a deep breath before she continued. "L-look, you don't understand. Your mom is the principal, so she's going to take your side, or at least go easy on you. Not to mention you get in trouble all the time. This kind of stuff is standard for you -- but for me? I haven't gotten a detention before in my life. I have no idea how my mom is going to take this when she finds out."
"Detention?" Jasper snorted; she was standing a mere few feet away, petting one of the horses through the wired fence. "Not to burst your bubble, but you guys are gonna be lucky if you don't get expelled.”
"We're not getting anything because nobody's going to find out!" Rose snapped back. "Seriously, it's not like there's security cameras all over the parking lot."
"But there were probably witnesses..." Jasper said. "And your neon pink hair is kinda hard to miss."
"Ugh, just shut up..." Rose grumbled, shoving her hands into her hoodie pocket. "I'm trying to comfort Pearl, not stress her out even more."
"Well, lying to her isn't gonna do shit." Jasper turned away from the horses and headed towards the two girls sitting in the grass, sitting down on the other side of Pearl and giving her a comforting hand on the shoulder. "Look, you guys did something undeniably stupid. And I'd be lying if I said Miss Agate didn't have it coming -- trust me, I'd key her car too if I had the balls -- but you're probably gonna get in trouble. So instead of denying it, you have to be ready for it."
Pearl's eyes began to well up with tears. Rose let out a long sigh. "Ugh... I hate when you're right."
"While we don't know how this is gonna go down, we do all know how your mom can be." Jasper said, gently rubbing Pearl's back. "So if you end up getting caught, and things go south... You gotta have a plan. We gotta have a plan."
"Eh, worst case scenario, mom grounds me for a bit. I can deal with that." Rose shrugged.
"I was talking about Pearl, dipshit!" Jasper threw a handful of grass at Rose.
"Oh... Well, my mom can be a pain in the ass, too, you know." Rose grumbled.
"Yes, I know, I'm not an idiot." Jasper rolled her eyes. "But Pearl's mom is a different breed of crazy. And while you getting in trouble isn't anything new, Pearl has always been a little goody two-shoes. So, uh, forgive me if I'm a little more worried about her."
Rose pouted, turning her gaze towards Pearl. Her face was buried into the sleeves of her sweater so she couldn't see her expression, but she had a feeling it was probably better that way. Letting out a sigh of defeat, she placed a hand on Pearl's back and gently rubbed her shoulder. "Sorry... I guess I overlooked how much this was getting to you, babe."
Pearl didn't say anything in response, but simply leaned her head against Rose as if to say "It's okay".
"And... I really do think it's all gonna be okay." Rose continued, slowly wrapping her arms around Pearl's waist and pulling her into a hug. "If your mom grounds you and takes away your phone, we'll still be here to comfort you. She can't keep you from talking to us at school, right? And you can talk to us on Myspace, or send emails, maybe lie and say you're using the computer for school projects or something..."
"I guess..." Pearl finally whimpered out in response. She slowly lifted her head up and wiped her eyes on her sleeve. "I guess... what I'm most scared of isn't even the detention, or suspension, or whatever we get. It's that she'll find out the whole... context of the situation. If she finds out I'm dating you, and that we did this because Miss Agate harassed us for that... It'll be really bad. She might try and send me to those ex-gay things, or tell people at our church, or..." Her voice cracked, and she trailed off again.
"Then you know what?" Jasper said, tilting Pearl's head upward and looking her in the eyes. "You still aren't dead. It'll be hell, sure, but you'll still survive it, and no matter what, we'll be here for you." She pulled Pearl into a tight hug, and Rose joined in, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "We got your back, Pearlie. No matter what happens, we're not going anywhere...”
*
Peony tapped her nails on the table, gazing out the window and stirring her melty strawberry milkshake with her straw. Only now had she begun to realize she shouldn't have shown up so early; waiting for Pearl to arrive was growing more and more tedious with each second that passed. Still, now it was growing closer to the actual scheduled time for their meetup, and soon enough, she spotted a familiar car pull into the parking lot. 'There we go.' she thought, letting out a sigh of relief.
As Pearl stepped into the cafe and looked around, Peony waved a hand so she'd know where she was sitting. Pearl's expression brightened up once she spotted her and she headed over to the booth Peony was sitting at, sliding in on the opposite side. "Hey there." she greeted.
"Hey." Peony said. "Were you going to get anything? I can wait, if you want."
"Ah, no, I don't really have any money." Pearl said, placing her hands on the table. "But thank you anyway."
"I don't either, heh. I just scraped up some loose change from Spinel's car because I was dying for something sweet." Peony said. "Want a sip?"
Pearl's eyes lit up. "Ah, of course!" she said, reaching for the cup and taking a dainty sip of the strawberry milkshake; while she was somewhat of a germaphobe, she'd grown up sharing drinks with her sister and always viewed it as an exception, for whatever reason that might be.
"So... Spinel, huh?" Pearl handed the cup back over to Peony, winking at her. "How'd that happen?"
Peony smiled shyly. "To make a long story short, uh, I met her at church back home." she said. "We started chatting after services while we ate brunch, and then started hanging out outside of church, and uh... I'm sure you can figure out the rest." she laughed nervously, rubbing the back of her neck.
"Oh my goodness, that's adorable." Pearl cooed.
Peony blushed. "You're so cheesy..." she said, resting her chin in her hand.
"As Amethyst might say, I'm the 'cheesiest pierogi'." Pearl chuckled. "Oh, and sorry to bombard you with questions, but... What happened to your hair? It's never been this short before. Not in a bad way -- it still looks beautiful!"
Peony ran her fingers through her hair; she'd finally gotten the ends touched up so it didn't look so choppy anymore. "Ah, well..." Her expression fell just slightly. "I never really told you, but I'd been considering running away for a while. Like, a long time. Probably almost as long as you had. But... I was so scared to commit to it. Mom was a mess after you left, and I was so afraid she'd fall apart if I left her, too... But it was getting unbearable." She paused for a moment, as if she was struggling to put her thoughts into words.
"And... she started to pick up on my relationship with Spinel, and wasn't very happy about it... She started getting more and more strict. Telling me that I couldn't let her down, that I couldn't go down the same path as you... That I could become the woman God intended me to be. In other words, I'd marry a man, I'd be feminine..." Peony fidgeted with her straw wrapper, ripping it up into little shreds. "So the only way I could commit to leaving was to do something that I knew would disappoint her. I chopped all of my hair off. I knew Mom wouldn't be happy about that, and that once I did it, I wouldn't be able to turn back." Peony tucked a strand of hair behind her ears. "So, uh, yeah. That's why it's short."
Pearl reached across the table for Peony's hand, giving it a gentle squeeze. "Peony... I know I don't say this much, but I'm so proud of you."
Part of Peony wanted to groan, to tell Pearl to stop being so cheesy and sappy -- but the other part felt reassured and somewhat relieved by her words, as if she'd been waiting to hear them for a while and didn't even know it. So she allowed herself to smile, returning the hand squeeze before returning to the previous subject. "So, um... How about you? You're dressing so different these days... Not to mention your hair. It's even shorter than mine."
"I guess... You could say it's for a similar reason." Pearl said, finally pulling her hand away and placing it back on her lap. "At one point, Amethyst asked me why I still stuck to those gender roles mom raised us to follow... And I realized I'd never really questioned it. So I cut my hair, and started wearing more masculine clothes, and now I just... I feel so much more comfortable. I feel like I have a little more control, as silly as that might sound..."
"That's not silly at all! That makes perfect sense..." Peony said. "I don't know if I'll ever change the way I dress... It could happen someday, but for now, I'm content with wearing skirts and dresses. Fashion is pretty low on my priority list... And I'm proud of what I've accomplished already. I mean, I disobeyed mom for crying out loud; that was a pretty big step for me."
"That is true... We've always been a pair of goody-two-shoes, but you were always the slightly more obedient one." Pearl said with a giggle. "So... What's your plan from here?"
"Not sure." Peony shrugged. "Right now, I'm just trying to adjust. Spinel's helping me a lot, and Yasmine and Bella are very kind -- sometimes a bit too friendly, but that'll probably fade once I'm settled in. Once I'm comfortable with my surroundings, and feel like I have control over my life again -- I say 'again' as if I ever have, pfft -- then I'll think about that."
Pearl smiled warmly. "I hope it'll be easy for you. Adjusting was the hardest part, in my experience..." she said, fidgeting with her hands.
A comfortable silence fell between the two; well, not quite so silent, with the chattering of other people in the cafe and the clinking of dishes. Peony sipped the remains of her milkshake and set the cup aside.
"Do you hate her?" Peony asked, finally breaking the silence.
Pearl flinched, both from the suddenness of her voice and the... unsettling nature of her question. "No, I don't think so. I've felt like I did at times, but... I don't think I truly do. Why, do you?"
"No, no, but I've had a lot of thoughts about hating her. And it feels terrible... It really does." Peony said, stirring the remaining whipped cream of her milkshake with her striped paper straw. "And I guess, if we did, it'd be justified... We have so many reasons to, but..." Peony trailed off, as if she wasn't sure if she wanted to finish her sentence.
"I try to avoid thinking about her in general, if I'm going to be honest." Pearl said. "So I don't hate her, but I'm not very... fond of her, either."
Peony nodded. "That makes sense." she said. "You know... I'm so glad we found each other, because... as awful as it sounds, I can't stand venting about her to other people. Because whenever I do, they tell me that she was a terrible mom -- as if I don't already know that -- or that she deserves to have bad things happen to her, and well... I-I can understand that line of thinking... And I don't think it's wrong, either. But it doesn't make me feel better to hear that... If anything, it just makes me feel worse." Peony rested her chin in her hand, letting out a sigh.
"I.. I just don't know." Peony continued after another moment of sitting in silence. "I thought hating her would help, but it only makes me want to cry. I'm not sure if she'll ever be sorry, and maybe it took losing both of her daughters to realize how careless she was, but... In a way, I kind of forgive her. Even if she isn't sorry, even if I'm still hurting... She never meant to hurt us, you know? In her eyes... she really felt she was doing the right thing, even if she really, really wasn't." When Peony looked up from her cup, Pearl saw that her eyes were full of tears.
"Peony..." Pearl began, her heart aching at the mere sight of it.
"I just..." Peony brushed away her tears, but more and more began streaming down her cheeks. She took a deep breath. "What if she's not okay? What if we went too far, and by leaving her behind we only sent her further down her spiral, and she just keeps getting worse?"
"Peony..." Pearl sighed, pulling herself to her feet and moving over to her side of the booth. "We're not responsible for her. She chose to be the way she is. If she wants to get any better, she'll have to do it herself. It's not our job to fix her. I... I'd be lying if I said I never had those thoughts, but..." Pearl hugged her tight. "We can miss her, and know that she never meant to hurt us... But that doesn't change the fact that we were hurt, and that if we kept on living there, our lives would have been a living hell. And we deserve so much better."
Peony buried her face into Pearl's shoulder and sobbed. "I still love her..." she whispered.
"I love her too." Pearl whispered back, gently rocking her sister in her arms. "And she's going to be okay. I know she will."
"Can..." Peony sniffled, wiping her nose on her sleeve. "Can we do something we haven't done together in a very long time?"
"What is it?" Pearl asked.
"Can we pray for her?" Peony whispered.
Pearl's expression softened. "Yes. Absolutely. Is that even a question?"
Peony smiled tearfully. "Thank you..."
The two sisters clasped each others hands and bowed their heads together.
*
The sun was beginning to set, and the nighttime air was growing colder with each passing hour; thankfully, Pearl had brought along a flannel she'd stolen from Jasper (at this point, most of her wardrobe was stolen from either Jasper of Amethyst). With a notebook and a pencil case full of gel pens in her arms, she led the way through the park with Amethyst close behind, carrying her canvases and a bag full of acrylics and paint brushes.
"Shit, look how pretty the sky is!" Amethyst said as she raced ahead of Pearl, reaching the top of the hill. Pearl's legs ached slightly as she made her way up the steep incline -- geez, for a girl with such short legs, Amethyst sure knew how to run. Before she sat down and laid out her writing materials, Pearl draped a huge picnic blanket across the grass -- she didn't want to stick her hand any goose droppings, or whatever other yucky things could be hiding in the grass.
"You say that every night, I swear." Pearl remarked fondly, crossing her legs as she got comfortable.
"And I'm always right, aren't I?" Amethyst sat down across from Pearl.
"I guess you are." she said with a warm smile, leaning over and pressing a kiss to her lips. "It certainly is a nice view... It'd probably be a silly question to ask what you're going to paint, wouldn't it?"
"Nah, not at all." Amethyst said, spreading her canvas out in front of her. "Because I don't usually paint what's in front of me the way it actually looks. I like to go to the park for inspiration, but that's just for the ingredients. I'll take the colors of the sky, the shape of a rock in the sand, the texture of a seagull's wings, and mash it up into a big ol' art smoothie." Amethyst clasped her hands together for emphasis.
"I see..." Pearl remarked, fishing out a blue gel pen from her pencil case and clicking it open. "I wonder if I could apply that method to my writing. I feel like that'd be difficult..."
"I'm sure there's some way you could do it... Hm." Amethyst squirted some black paint onto her canvas. "Not sure, though. But you're a smart girl with lots of brains, I'm sure you could figure it out."
"Perhaps I could... but maybe not tonight." Pearl chuckled. "I actually already know what I'm going to write. Sitting here with you at the park is just helping me relax, I guess... Maybe the --"
"CHUMBO!" Amethyst immediately jumped to her feet and pointed off in the distance. Slightly frightened and incredibly baffled by Amethyst's outburst, Pearl slowly turned around and spotted a very familiar, very fat goose waddling around the pond. He was followed by a trio of little goslings, flapping their little wings and peeping as they struggled to keep up. "And he's taking the chumblings for a swim!"
Once it clicked, and Pearl remembered their previous encounter with the goose a few months prior, she burst into laughter. "Oh my goodness -- are you certain it's the same goose?"
"That's him alright! There's no mistaking that big boy." Amethyst reached into the pocket of her jacket, pulling out an unwrapped peanut butter cracker. "I'm gonna give this to him -- maybe if I feed him regularly, we'll form a bond!" And before Pearl could question why she had a cracker in her pocket, or why she wanted to form a bond with a wild animal, she had already sprinted halfway down the hill. 'I should probably follow her... Just in case she gets herself in any trouble.' Pearl thought. She turned to her notebook, still holding the pen in her hands. 'But... let me get the first line down, just so I don't forget it.'
She reached down towards her notebook page and scribbled down a single line; then, she leaped to her feet and hurried after her girlfriend.
'I've finally gone home.’

do the whole aa ensemble. all of them. i dare u
sondcr said: ok fine at leaaaast trucy, gumshoe, pearl, edgeworth :p
i was honest to god sitting here thinking “i wonder how long it’ll take me if i actually tried” and i almost opened the character roster on court-records.net adn started a draft
HERE ARE HEADCANONS UNDER A READMORE!! and here’s the original meme
trucy!!!
headcanon a: she always gets detention at school for doing weird shit like pulling snacks out of her magic panties in front of the principal. jinxie is usually in detention with her for falling asleep in class so she doesn’t hate it too much
headcanon b: she secretly taught herself how to use throwing knives from a youtube video tutorial
headcanon c: she has no idea how to form attachments properly. it’s either she has no interest in you or you’re her whole world, and there’s no way to know which. also: she’s constantly in doubt that phoenix and apollo actually care about her since she’s so used to family popping in and out of her life, so every time phoenix flies off to europe during the seven-year-gap she’s deathly afraid he won’t come back (’:
headcanon d: OK LOOK THE WHOLE STORY OF HOW PHOENIX ADOPTED HER IS SO WEIRD TO ME so i’ve retconned it. in my head, the day that she lost her father & nick was still in a daze from losing his badge he was like “uhhh sure i guess you can stay with me til another family member comes to pick you up” but then no one.. did….. so he sort of accidentally ended up assuming a parental role rather than being like “alright i’m ur new dad” from day one (which always seemed a lil creepy to me ngl)
richard “dick” gumshoe
headcanon a: HE LOVES HIS WIFE MAGGEY AND THEIR 2.5 KIDS AND THEIR DOG (MISSILE) SO MUCH
headcanon b: he loves singing and humming all the time and it annoys the shit out of edgeworth (and ema at first but then he grows on her and they have singalongs sometimes at the precinct)
headcanon c: he’s probably got sickeningly low self esteem because everyone uses him as their punching bag and he keeps getting paycuts so his healthcare is probably shitty so like :’’’’’’) he’s probably depressed as hell (at least during the trilogy) and it WORRIES ME
headcanon d: this isnt so much a headcanon as just a Rant but i really wish we got to see more of gumshoe getting the proper recognition and appreciation he deserves…. u don’t just accidentally become a detective so clearly he is super smart and good at his job
pearly (hers are a lot shorter but it doesnt mean i luv her any less i promise..)
headcanon a: she doesn’t get a very good cell/wifi connection in hazakurain so she and trucy send each other snail mail and decorate the letters with doodles and stickers and glitter bombs and whatnot
headcanon b: she’s got the scariest death glare in the whole village (she inherited it from her mother).. don’t u dare fuckin cross her
headcanon c: she misses mia almost as much as maya does and regrets not getting to spend more time with her before she died
headcanon d: it would have been cool if pearl aged a single day between aa3 and her cameo in aa5
edgeworth (hoooOOO BOY)
headcanon a: pess is his psychiatric service dog who helps calm him down during earthquakes and other things that trigger his ptsd!
headcanon b: sometimes he lets klavier, simon, yumihiko, & ema (and kay whenever she sneaks in) come in & take naps in his office because look, somebody’s gotta use that couch and his subordinates are all just about as traumatized as he is. they all deserve a break
headcanon c: ha ha haaaa………… i have so many Sad Thoughts about this guy how do i pick which ones to write about. uhh ok this one is pretty common among members of the fandom but i think about it a lot and it’s pretty crucial to my understanding/interpretation of him as a character, so: (( #suicide tw )) when he left the “miles edgeworth chooses death” note, he wasn’t sure at that point whether he meant it literally or not. this has been explored in lots of fics before too, including either l/egal p/artners or t/urnabout t/oast, i can’t remember which (maybe both?)
headcanon d: seeing edgeworth’s discarded aa5 concept art at first was VERY!! ALARMING!!! to me bc some of it looked dangerously similar to manfred von karma’s style, which you’d think he would be like, actively rejecting at this point in his life? so in my head he’s starting to chill out a bit. like he even wears t-shirts on the weekends sometimes. they’re ridiculously expensive t-shirts and he looks bomb as hell in ‘em but still. he can be Casual sometimes. sometimes.

Say Bye Bye to Plastics with The Komitmen: An Interview with Melati Wijsens
Learn more: http://www.nysurbanforestrycouncil.com
Five years ago, the Bali born and bred sisters started a revolution on the island, now they are transforming businesses in Bali and have appeared live on CNN before Anderson Cooper and Kelly Ripa.
Melati, one of the Wijsens, arrived at the semi-vacant restaurant in Pererenan with a cardboard cutout of their newest KOMITMEN project, the Indonesian word for commitment. She brought her charm and knowledge with her too.
“Thanks for being so flexible with us,” she said though both of us knew she was the one with the rather eventful schedule; the teenage sisters have New York and Europe penned into their agenda to conclude a spectacular year.
Bye Bye Plastic Bags was formed when Melati and Isabel Wijsen were 12 and 10 years old respectively. They have been campaigning against the use of plastic in Bali and around the world since then.
Indonesia is the second largest plastic polluter in the world after China. A 2015 report found Indonesia's plastic waste accounted for a whopping 10 percent of marine plastic pollution. Due to the colossal amount of trash accumulated in the world's waters, welcoming the wet season in Bali means inevitably welcoming an annual trash season too. Pearly beaches turn into scenes of discarded packaging and plastic ruins.
Seeing pivotal world leaders such as Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King as inspirations, the Wijsen sisters sparked an idea for young people like them to create change. Little did they know, two voices from an island could forever change the narrative of this global phenomenon, especially for the younger generation.
Bye Bye Plastic Bags encouraged not just the youth but every single person on the island to say no to single-use plastic bags in Bali. Should it stop here? No, Melati affirmed. The movement saw so much potential that it eventually initiated 'One Island One Voice' (OIOV) in 2015, which now serves as an umbrella platform for all like-minded organisations, NGOs, companies to adjoin and reach towards a cleaner and greener world.
Melati and Isabel have an orbit of achievements to colour their resume with only over a dozen years of life experience. Their journey started on the paradise island of Bali, then to London where they delivered a TED talk, to New York where they appeared at the United Nations, and recently (9 December 2018) on CNN Heroes to receive the 'Young Wonders Award' hosted by CNN's Anderson Cooper and ABC's Kelly Ripa. Yet despite their achievements, they recognise they still have a long way to go.
One of their latest campaigns is the KOMITMEN. Whilst over the years, the voices of youth, students and increasingly eco-conscious adults have risen, people were asking, “But where are the businesses in the conversation? Are we missing them in the picture?”
This is where KOMITMEN's role comes into action. KOMITMEN is OIOV's approach for Bali-based businesses to start saying no to single-use plastic bags, coincidentally complementing Denpasar's ban on plastic bags this 2019.
How it works
It comes in the form of a pledge. Businesses are asked to commit to one, a combination or all 6 options presented to them, which include: eliminating single-use plastic straws, water bottles, plastic retail bags, plastic cups, plastic up lids or separating their organic and inorganic waste. Each business can set its own timeframe or goals. The campaign will also offer services of waste separation at the source.
Similar to TripAdvisor's recognisable owl you see on store windows, if a business joins the KOMITMEN they will receive a plaque or sticker to display their noble participation towards a healthier environment. If you walk in as a consumer or a customer in a shop or a restaurant, you will recognise their label to indicate that you're entering a plastic-free zone, or at least plastic-reduced! This is not a case of naming-and-shaming but certainly naming and giving those businesses a sense of pride that they are helping to create a plastic-free Bali.
OIOV may not be creating solutions, but what they are doing is empowering businesses island-wide to take eco-concscious decisions for the future as well as creating a consumer market that is aware of these changes.
Bye Bye Plastic Bags is now a global organisation with growing affiliates across the globe. It has active members in 30 different locations and 26 countries all led by young people; kids in middle school, high school, and universities.
Melati and Isabel's TEDtalk has been shown in classrooms around the world, in assignments, even exams! Kids, after being exposed to the issue, have reached out to them to participate.
“When we started the message, it was all about saying no to plastic bags. Now we've literally embodied the message that young people can do anything. BBPB has become this international platform for kids to stand on and feel like their voices are being heard,” Melati told NOW! Bali.
KOMITMEN by One Island One Voice now has businesses in 400 locations signed up around the island, after launching the campaign in July 2018.
Saying no to plastic bags was the warm up, the long-term solution and the real game changer will be waste management, waste separation, and waste collection systems that will enable us to see the impact and the difference between plastic ending up in our environment.
The team organised a KOMITMEN event at Potato Head Beach Club where they invited partners as well as potential businesses who could join in the movement. They successfully showcased a variety of solutions available on Bali, which acted as a great space to feel where KOMITMEN can take us all.

Bali-based businesses who have said YES to a plastic-free Bali: Potato Head Beach Club, Hilton Hotels, Elite Haven, 69 Slam, The Body Shop, and many, many more.
OIOV and BBPB doesn't stop there. The biggest annual beach clean up is taking place on February 6th, 2019. Don't just join the movement but be the movement. Start small; start with your local beach! For businesses, if you would like to become a member of KOMITMEN, contact [email protected].
