Ruben Dias x Reader - Top Spies Part 1/8
Ruben and Reader are super spies, who have to pretend to be a married couple on vacation as a co-signed mission. A enemies to lovers fic, very sweet and funny!
Enjoy!
"Listen up team. We have a big one!"
Captain Harlow order everyone to join him in the meeting lounge. It was more of a den, with black leather couches and dimmed lighting. You were the last one in, leaving you stand as there was nowhere left for you to sit.
"What's up captain?" Asked a man. He was an agent like you.
"Drugs Franklin, that's what's up." Captain tossed a bundle of files on the coffee table before them. "Alejandro Martinez, Portugals most infamous druglord. Last year he managed to import nearly 700 kilos of cocaine into the country."
"How?" The team of agents questioned in unison.
Captain shrugged. "That's for you to find out. Is he using drug mules, an underground railroad..."
"A submarine...." Another agent muttered. His name was Ruben. Although his remark was followed by laughter, knowing Ruben, he probably meant what he said. He always seemed so serious, never cracking jokes intentionally.
"All we know for sure..." Captain put an end to the chuckles. "...is that we can't have a warrant for his arrest without this information."
Like your fellow agents your brows were furrowed with your mind in deep thought. Importing 700 kilos of cocaine into a country was highly impressive, but also impossible to do, at least in one go.
"Dias, Y/N!"
You raised your head with the calling of your name, so did Ruben.
"My office, now!"
You left the meeting lounge, follwing Captain Harlow towards his office. A giant shadow was casted after you as Ruben walked slowly behind.
"Please have a seat." The captain said, shutting his office door, gesturing for you and Ruben to take the seats before his desk.
"All agents will be on this case in some type of way, but I'm going to need you two to go undercover for this one."
"Understood." Ruben nodded.
"For how long?" You questioned.
"A month, but depending on the progress of the case the period might be longer or shorter."
You nodded.
"Glad you're all aboard. It will be demanding but I see you two as the perfect fit for this job."
"What's the mission Cap?" Ruben said, leaning forward in his chair.
"I need you two to pose as husband and wife on a exclusive vacation to Madeira."
"What?" You and Ruben exclaimed. It was the first time he turned to look at you today. Although it was a brief look, a displeased look.
"You can't be serious Captain? I thought you were assigning us solo missions?" He protested.
"Well I'm not. From now on you'll be Mr and Mrs Moreno, a knewly wed couple enjoying a month at Resort de la Martinez. Alejandro Martinez owns a private vacation resort on the Island. We suspect that some of his illegal shipping trades happens there. The resort is a great way for him to keep an eye on his operations. Which is now your jobs."
"To keep an eye on the merchendis?" You said, eager to get on with the the mission. Ruben however looked to have a headache coming on, impulsively rubbing the side of his scalp.
"Exactly. Any suspicious activity you see reports back to me. Enjoy the mission agents."
"This is unbelievable."
You followed Ruben with quick steps as he stormed out of Captain Harlows office. You followed him all the way back to his desk.
"Well, you better believe it." You said. "Captain has us on a plane to Madeira tonight. "
Ruben turned to look at you, arms crossed before him. "What's your name again Rose?"
You rolled your eyes "It's Y/N."
"Right, Y/N. Look, I know you're new here and all, but you must know that I don't do co-signed missions."
"Oh, I know." You snorted. It had only gone three months since you switch agencies, however it didn't take you to long to figure out the hierchy around here. For example, Ruben was considered to be one of the top agents. You, as a woman and a newbie, considered to be at the bottom.
"There is a first for everything, Ruben." You said.
His eyes widen in surprise. He took a good look at you, considering that it was the first time that he actually looked at you twice.
"Anything else you wish for me to know about you?" You asked.
Ruben grunted in response, turning his back on you to sort out the many files on his desk.
You shook your head, returning to your own desk.
It was going to be a long month.

"Coffy" (1973) is an action film written and directed by Jack Hill and stars Pam Grier in her breakout movie, which helped pioneer her career through the blaxploitation genre. The film was a success at the box office, grossing $4 million on a $500k budget. Black women in leading action roles became a popular trend in the 70s. For example, films such as "Cleopatra Jones," "T.N.T Jackson," and "Sugar Hill" were films with strong female leads. It was a far cry from previous roles where Black women primarily earned parts as servants or homemakers in prior decades. Roy Ayers produced the soundtrack to "Coffy," a mixture of jazz and funk. It reached #31 on Billboard Jazz LPs.
Director: Jack Hill Writers: Jack Hill, Pam Grier (uncredited)
Starring Pam Grier, Booker Bradshaw, Robert DoQui, William Elliott, Allan Arbus, Sid Haig, Barry Cahill, Lee de Broux, Ruben Moreno, Lisa Farringer, Carol Locatell, Linda Haynes, John Perak, Mwako Cumbuka, Morris Buchanan, Peaches Jones, Jan-Minika Hughes, Leslie McRay, Ray Young, Bob Minor
Storyline As a nurse, Coffy (Pam Grier) has seen the ill effects of drugs up close, but it isn't until her little sister becomes addicted to heroin that she finally decides to wage a one-woman battle. Disguised as a prostitute, Coffy goes on a killing rampage, at first going after street dealers and pimps such as sleazy King George (Robert DoQui), then gradually working her way up to bigger honchos. She's shocked, however, when she discovers that her politician boyfriend (Booker Bradshaw) is involved.

SUMMARY: Clara is at the emergency command centre.
MENTIONS: Rangers, Jamie Brennan, Phoenix Romero-Sawyer, Jay Romero-Sawyer
Clara let out an exasperated sigh as she conversed with—slash yelled at—Rusty and Duck over the radio. She had made her way to the emergency command centre after the earthquake, and once it had been made clear that both the Head Ranger and the Game Warden would be out of commission, she had kicked into high gear making sure that she was staying on top of everything. And at least trying to get them to rest.
"For the last time, I've got it covered," she said with a tone that brokered no argument. "You can help with search and rescue but don't overexert yourselves. Yes, I say this knowing you will both ignore me, but I still want it on the record that I tried."
The radio crackled to life in response, with Rusty reminding her that she was in charge of everyone except him, and Duck reminding her that they were technically in different departments altogether, resulting in another beleagured sigh. After issuing a reluctant correction, she wrapped up the conversation and clipped her radio back to her belt.
Okay. She was in charge.
After taking a moment to let that reality sink in, Clara looked down at the map of Huntsville she had laid out on a table, quadrants for search and rescue hastily drawn out with various emergency personnel and rangers assigned to them. She had marked out all triage centres, and was keeping running notes for each of them listing medical professionals on site, number of patients with serious injuries, and a likely tally of people who would need to stay the night at either the clinic or the fire station.
Next to the map was a pile of lists that she was doing her best to keep updated as the day progressed—a list of people who have been confirmed fine, a list of people who have been confirmed injured, a list of people who were still missing, among others.
Pulling the list of rangers out of the pile, she looked down at it while fiddling with her engagement ring, spinning it around her finger and trying her best not to think about Jamie out there without her—or any of her loved ones out there without her. Running a hand through her hair, she took a deep breath before methodically going down the list.
NORTH TOWER
CLARA JONES - ACCOUNTED FOR RUBEN HOBBES - ACCOUNTED FOR CAIN BARLOWE - MISSING
SOUTH TOWER
DJ CRUZ-DUTTON - MISSING ACCOUNTED FOR, INJURED VALERIA MORENO - MISSING ACCOUNTED FOR, INJURED RICARDO REIDER - MISSING
Her radio crackled to life again. "Hey, it’s Val, and I have DJ here. We're at the fire station. Injured but not badly. Has Cain radioed in?"
"Okay, stay put and let me know if any rangers show up there, we're still missing a few," Clara responded, amending her notes to state that the pair were accounted for but injured, before frowning to herself. She could hear the concern and fear in the younger woman's voice, and even though she was also worried about Cain, she knew that she had to be reassuring. "And he hasn't, but I'm sure they will soon."
"Oh, okay. Let me know if they do. Can someone keep an eye out for Hunter too? Uh… Bleach blonde hair, probably walking around with a phone."
"Will do," the Acting Head Ranger replied before amending her notes and moving on.
WEST TOWER
MIA VAZQUEZ - ACCOUNTED FOR MARCUS ZHAO - ACCOUNTED FOR JAMES GOLDSTEIN - MISSING ACCOUNTED FOR, INJURED
Mia had managed to radio in earlier, reporting that her back and arms were cut up from shielding her kid and their dog from debris, but that she was otherwise alright. Marcus was uninjured, working search and rescue, and had been one of the rangers to locate Rusty and Reggie and then help them out of the haunted house.
Finally, when her radio sounded again, it was Elijah's voice coming through, reporting that he had found James and was trying to get him out of the bank. "Understood, I'll check in with the fire trucks and get one of them over to you ASAP," Clara replied, before once more amending her notes and moving on to the last section.
EAST TOWER
JAHI KARIM - ACCOUNTED FOR ELIJAH ATKINS - ACCOUNTED FOR EMRYS ROSSER - MISSING
Elijah and Jahi had both radioed in earlier, the latter joining Marcus to help Rusty and Reggie, but she hadn't heard from Emrys yet. She took a deep breath before noting the time and bringing the radio to her lips. "Attention rangers, keep an eye out for Barlowe, Reider, and Rosser," she barked into it. "They have yet to check in."
"What can I get for ya?"
Clara looked at her foster dad from behind the bar. The bar was busy, the dancehall was in full swing, and she had been serving drinks practically non-stop since she had clocked in for her shift. John had showed up on his way to work, and she knew damn well that he didn't want a drink—but if he was going to insist on checking in on her, she was going to insist on doing her job. Even if her job was just serving drinks at a bar.
Before he could respond, a loud crash was heard from the other side of the bar and Clara immediately jumped into action. Directing the other bartenders, she directed one to continue manning the bar, one to remake the drink that had spilled, and then disappeared herself to grab the broomstick and clean up the broken glass. When she returned, her dad was nursing a glass of water and giving her a pointed look.
"What?" she asked.
"You handled that well," John replied calmly before having a sip of water. "You were decisive, you gave clear and concise directions, and you took responsibility for the main job of cleaning up—even if it wasn't your mess to begin with. It's impressive."
"It's just a bar, dad," Clara said with a slight roll of her eyes. "I'm not exactly making life or death decisions here. I'm serving cocktails and cleaning up broken glass."
"Yeah, and the same skills are required in my job," he responded with a shrug. "Quick decision-making, a sense of duty, a willingness to be accountable. I'm not saying you should be a ranger, but we both know you're meant for greater things."
"Who says I want greater things?"
He let out a laugh before setting the glass down and getting ready to leave for his shift. "Clara," he said with a small shake of his head. "Everything about you screams it."
Once more, her radio crackled and she heard Val's voice coming through.
"Hey, Cain is here at the fire station. Some debris hit his eye but he should be fine."
After a brief exchange regarding the status at the fire station, Clara thanked her for reporting in before setting her radio down on the table and going back to amending her various lists. Her work was interrupted when an earlier entry caught her eye, and without thinking about it, she paused to brush her fingers over the names.
PHOENIX ROMERO-SAWYER - ACCOUNTED FOR JAY ROMERO-SAWYER - ACCOUNTED FOR, INJURED
The word injured felt like a knife to her gut, and for a few seconds Clara struggled to breathe as she stared at it, before wiping a tear from her face and going back to work.
Hours passed, and never once did she stop working. It was getting closer to dusk and she was still on the radio, talking to the cops, talking to the medical staff, and coordinating with volunteers still working search and rescue. Looking up at the setting sun, she knew that she would have to start diverting ranger attention toward securing and eventually leading people to buildings that would be safe for the night ahead.
She took her duty seriously. She thought quickly, made concise decisions, and held herself accountable for making the right ones. She did everything that her dad had always known that she could, that she would, if she was ever in a leadership position.
She was Clara Jones. And she had finally managed to prove to the world, but most of all herself, that she was meant for greater things than she had once settled for.
Thanks for believing in me, dad.

𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐌 . 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐒 . 𝐒𝐏𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐅𝐘 . 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐒 . 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 .
i saw GIANNA AGUILAR coming through the trees. the 25 year old was fleeing from VANCOUVER , BRITISH COLUMBIA when they came across novac , and have sought salvation within the motel of purgatory. GIGI has been in town for ONE YEAR and has been assigned as a FARMER to keep society running smoothy. no matter what , they will find something to fight for.

full name. gianna guilla luisa isabel aguilar
nickname. gigi
birthdate. october 8 , 1998
identity. genderfluid , she / they
sexuality. queer , demiromantic
family. ruben aguilar † ( father ) , pavati aguilar nee moreno † ( mother ) , matteo aguilar † ( eldest brother ) , javier aguilar † ( older brother ) , daniel ' dani ' aguilar † ( younger brother )

tba hehe.
𝚚𝚞𝚒𝚌𝚔 𝚜𝚞𝚖𝚖𝚊𝚛𝚢 (𝚝𝚕;𝚍𝚛'𝚜 𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚒𝚘𝚗 )
LABELED a tomboy since she could remember , gianna spent all of her free time outside , collecting grass stains rather than dolls. finding an equal balance between rugby and soccer , while also maintaining good grades and a healthy social life was her biggest concern. such trivial issues in comparison to what was to come.
THEIR dad passed away when gianna was just shy of her 13th birthday , the first tragedy experienced. after suffering a heart attack, he fell into a coma that he unfortunately would not recover from. losing the patriarch of the house was difficult , and matteo felt obligated to fill the role , which put a strain on gianna's relationship with their eldest brother.
GIANNA was 15 when all hell broke loose in the surrounding neighborhood. chilling screams filled the dead of night , people were running through the streets , homes and vehicles up in flames. that night felt like a fever dream , she can barely remember how their family managed to escape , but she'll never forget the carnage left behind.
HER youngest brother was the first family member lost , their mom soon following. a complete stranger lunged at them , teeth seeking flesh and dani's arm getting caught in the crossfire. when he eventually succumbed to the virus , their mom was too heartbroken and hysterical to let him go , thus resulting in her own demise.
SEEKING out refuge , the remaining aguilar siblings travelled south , attracted to the promise of shelter and protection from the military in the cities like many others. for several years , it was comforting to find unity with other survivors and lead as normal a life as they were permitted. but all that glitters is not gold.
TO this day , gianna isn't sure if it was an act of rebellion against their eldest brother's constant hovering or if javier had just finally cracked under the pressure of the harsh , new reality. but he did something risky and stupid , repeatedly , until he got caught and was turned into an example , costing his life in exchange. matteo and gianna made their escape the following night , putting as much distance as they could between themselves and any military-controlled faction.
SO she got stuck with the bro she couldn't see eye to eye with , classic. they argued lots , and blamed anything they could on each other ( gigi might've pulled a real low blow at some point by blaming javier's death on matteo oop ). they were so busy being angry with each other that they got cornered by a few clickers. ultimately, matteo got torn to shreddies just before somebody / somebodies from novac swooped in to save gianna , bringing her back to town.
fast forward a whole year , gigi has established pretty decent rapport within their little community. definitely earns their keep by helping wherever they can , the main role obviously being work as a farmer. was pretty closed off and guarded on arrival , but she's opened up a lot and is lowkey a huge softie for her people.

[Image ID and source: Tweet from Simon Rosenberg (@/SimonWDC) reading: Red wave 2024 update:
70+ polls in the averages, 31 right-aligned groups have released polls since August
Polymarket, Elon 2024 escalations
Late last week they worked the natl polling average, moved it down, started spinning early vote hard 👇 1/
.
Part of their new efforts to drive the natl polling average down is addition of a TIPP daily tracking poll. Predictably, and perhaps comically, it showed the race - all of a sudden! - breaking to Trump after 6 weeks of a remarkably stable race and a bad media week for Trump 2/
/end ID]
.
More tweets from the thread:
Last Wed I did a polling roundup. Polling continued to be remarkably stable. 538 natl average actually ticked up for us that week. We were +4 and stable in Econ/YouGov, +5 in Marist, +4 in Morning Consult, NYT, +3 CBS, ABC. Steady as she goes. 3/
Yes, some state polls had moved a bit towards Trump. But things were all within margin of error, things bounce around and Rs had been pounding the state averages, particularly NC and PA. Majority of recent polls in those 2 states R-aligned 👇4/
Even after "movement towards Trump" here is the @/WashingtonPost battleground state polling averages this morning. The Post has a tighter screen on what polls they accept. It shows Harris at 270+ and winning. 5/
Then last Wed a switch turned on and right aligned polls started flooding the natl polling average - Emerson, Fox News, Quantas, RMG, TIPP's daily tracker. Senate Rs dropped a natl poll to help out, as did whatever ActiVote and Atlas are. 538 moved from 2.6 to 1.8 Harris. 6/
To be clear - the independent polls last week were +3 to +5 Harris. A steady, stable race. Then boom - red wavers dropped series of polls 2 to 5 points to the right of indep. polling and the averages moved.
This is exactly what they did in 2022. 7/
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/31/us/politics/polling-election-2022-red-wave.html
https://web.archive.org/web/20240929092855/https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/31/us/politics/polling-election-2022-red-wave.html
Since TIPP is now the tip of the red wave 2024 spear, let's take a look. "Talent on loan from God" - Rush Limbaugh's catchphrase. Here's a fun story from their site: "Harris’s Fiery Campaign of Rage Exposes Her Unpresidential Temperament" 8/
Some other recent TIPP goodies:
"The Left Is Still Obsessed With 2020 Election Deniers"
"U.S. Government Pushing Climate Lies On Schoolchildren"
"Night And Day: Trump’s Command Of Economy Exposes Harris’s Novice Approach" 9/
The American right hacked the polling averages in 2022 and are doing it again. 538 told us that even a bad PA TIPP poll should be included in the averages, and that it only moved PA 1/10th of a point. No biggie - except Rs have released 16 polls in PA this month. 10/
The simple fix is to create a new category of polls, R-aligned, and keep these polls separate from legit, independent polls.
Rs have exploited the "throw it in the averages" approach again - 70+ polls, 31 different orgs.
We have to do better 👇11/
Another explanation for flood of natl polls last week - Rs started seeing movement from Trump due to his deranged behavior.
When a bad video for Moreno dropped RMG rushed into OH with his best poll of the cycle.
They flooded NC in days leading up to Robinson implosion. 12/
Perhaps the most important point of all - Rs would not be spending so much time and effort working the polling averages if they believed they were winning. 13/
Could Rs really be doing this?
Rs have been lying about last election for 4 years

On cue, a high-quality independent poll drops this morning with data consistent with other recent independent polls, showing Harris ahead, no slippage, and far more likely to win. 15/
If you're wondering why polling averages are suddenly showing Trump winning despite all the bad news he's gotten lately- it might have something to do with this:
Basically, Republicans are ratfucking the polling averages by churning out huge numbers of partisan polls, and the polling aggregators/analysts like 538 aren't doing due diligence to compensate for it.
Now, what is the purpose of this?
Well, in the immediate-term, it creates a narrative that Trump is winning, boosting morale of his supporters while demoralizing support for Democrats and Harris.
Beyond that, if polling averages show that Trump is winning ahead of election day-which we can pretty much guarantee they will, because see above-then they will use that as "proof" of fraud if Democrats subsequently win.
Basically, they are engineering a pretext for their next coup attempt in front of us.
The only numbers that decide anything are actual votes. So ignore the polls, and VOTE.

Other outcomes are less certain. These races will decide control of the upper chamber:
Montana: In ruby-red Montana, Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) faces off against GOP challenger Tim Sheehy. It’s a tough race in a state Trump won by more than 16 percent. Tester trails Sheehy by nearly 7 points in polling.
Ohio: Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) is similarly positioned in the Buckeye State, which backed Trump by 8 percent in 2020. He stayed ahead of Tester in polling for most of the cycle, however, in the final hours before the election, Moreno surged to take the lead in the RealClearPolling aggregate. Polls still show it’s expected to be a close race.
Texas: Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) faces Rep. Colin Allred (D-Texas). Though Allred has drawn national attention, polling still shows Cruz leading by 4 percent. Still, Democrats see it as a rare pick-up opportunity this cycle.
Nebraska: Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) faces a tight race with Dan Osborn, who’s running as an independent in the deep red state. Polling shows Fischer retaining the advantage. Still, an upset could happen.
Arizona: In the Arizona seat vacated by outgoing Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-Ariz.), former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, a Republican, faces off against Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.). Gallego has retained a compelling polling lead across the cycle. Nevertheless, a strong performance by Trump could tilt the race in Lake’s favor.
Nevada: In neighboring Nevada, Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) faces a challenge by Republican Sam Brown, a war vet who suffered severe burns in combat. As in Arizona, Democrats are favored in polling. Still, as with other swing state Senate races, presidential returns will impact the outcome
Pennsylvania: Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) is in the political fight of his life against Republican Dave McCormick. Once an electoral juggernaut, Casey won his previous two bids by 9 points or more. This time, polling shows him just over 2 percent ahead of McCormick in the crucial state.
Michigan: The situation is similar in Michigan, where Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) and former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) are competing for the Senate seat left open by Sen. Debbie Stabenow’s (D-Mich.) retirement. Polling shows a tight race that has cycled between the two, though Slotkin appears to have an edge.
Wisconsin: The tightest Rust Belt race currently is Wisconsin, where Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) faces a strong challenge from entrepreneur Eric Hovde. Polling in the infamously difficult-to-poll state shows just a 1.8 percent Baldwin lead.

Ruben Dias x Reader - Top Spies Part 3/8
This chapter is so good, I'm really setting you up🤭🤭
Ruben and Reader are super spies, who have to pretend to be a married couple on vacation as a co-signed mission. A enemies to lovers fic, very sweet and funny!
Enjoy!
You woke up to somthing heavy pressing you down against the matress. Somthing heavy and warm.
"Ruben, get off me."
So he was a heavy sleeper. Not a very good trait for a crime fighting agent.
"Ruben please, I can't feel my legs."
A low grunt was the only sign of life coming from him. Trying to stirr him awake only made it worse. Ruben's grip around your body tightened as his face snuggled into the fabric of your shirt, which by the way, was starting to rise above your hips, revealing more of you than you ever wished for Ruben to see.
Suddenly there was heavy knocking on your hotel door.
"It's the hotel manager!" The voice behind the knock said. A female voice.
"Ruben, somone is..."
You had to say no more. Ruben's grip around your was gone and so was the weight of him. The knocking doors woke him up as if he had selective hearing.
"I'm sorry to disturb you this early Mr and Mrs Moreno, but it is very important!"
"Wait here." Ruben said, faster than you to get up and out of bed. His face looked sprung woke, his hair pointing in every direction. He ran a hand through it on his way to the door. You were right behind.
"I told you to wait in bed." He frowned.
"I'm not your real wife Ruben, don't tell me what to do."
He shook his head but stretched to open the door, revealing a tall woman dressed in suit and tie.
"Good morning Mr and Mrs Moreno. I am sorry to disturb your sleep this early in the morning, but I have received some very urgent information about your stay here at Resort de la Martinez.
"What information?" Ruben said, a hand held behind his back.
Who sleeps with a gun strapped to their sweatpants, you thought. Either way, the woman did not look the slightest intimidate by Ruben's lack of hospitality, the opposite really.
"If I may introduce myself Mr and Mrs Moreno, my name is Beatrice Sanchez the manger of this resort.
"Yeah, and what do you want?" Ruben frowned.
"My boss has requested to invite you to stay at his villa as his personal guests."
Ruben looked to you and you looked to him. He turned back to the woman. "I'll have to discuss this with my wife, thanks."
The woman lunged forward, preventing Ruben from shutting the hotel door in her face. "I'm afraid there won't be much of a discussion. My boss insists that you and your wife be his guests at the villa. He is very thankful for what you did for his nephew the other night."
Again, Ruben shot you a puzzled look. The boy who's life he had saved at dinner turned out to be the nephew to one of Portugals most infamous druglords.
"Our staff will have your things escorted as soon as you're ready, the woman, Beatrice, said. She bowed her head, leaving you and Ruben with no other option.
"What do we do?" You asked Ruben as he shut the hotel door.
"Call Captain Harlow. Tell him that there's been useful developments in our mission and that we need more equipment."
"More equipment? For what?"
He smiled. "Surveillance."
********************************************
"What now?" You asked.
Within days you and Ruben were moved into a lovely Spanish Villa at a private section of the resort. You had staff catering to you at all hours of the day and a car for you to use during the reminder of your stay. Although the offered luxury was tempting, you and Ruben stuck to your mission and spent most nights in the streets bugging the entire resort with cameras, microphones and movment sensors. During the day you were pretty much free to do whatever, most suspicious activity occured during night anyway.
"Let's go to the beach." Ruben yawned, stretching his arms above his head.
"The what now?"
"The beach. People need to see us do normal stuff together, otherwise they'll suspect that somthing is off."
He had a point. You hated that he had a point.
"Fine. Just give me a minute to pack my stuff."
"No need. Just grab a towel and take your clothes off. "
"Excuse me?"
Ruben grinned. "Didn't you read the signs on our way up here?"
"What signs?"
"There's only nude beaches around this private section. No bikini's allowed."
"What? That's ridiculous. "
"Those are the rules." He shrugged.
"Ruben, I'm not going to..."
"I'm joking." He chuckled.
You sighed in relief, tossing your bikini top his way. He caught it with one hand, twisting the fabric between his fingers before handing it back to you.
You had gotten to know each other very well, during the days you spent together. Contrary to your beliefs, Ruben could crack jokes. Lame jokes. However, some of them made you chuckle.
"I am going to the beach though." Ruben said. He had been down there every day since you moved to the villa. For some reason he was convinced that Alejandro Martinez kept a submarine near the Island. The best place to look was near the ocean.
"Then I am going to enjoy my day playing golf."
"You play golf?" Ruben questioned.
You grabbed your gloves and cap from your suitcase. "I'm a former junior champion, if you must know."
Ruben said nothing, although he looked impressed.
"Have fun." You said once the two of you went your separate ways.
Ruben walked to the beach as you took the car to the resorts own private golf course.
You stepped onto the lush green grass, clubs slung over your shoulder and your sunglasses perched on your head. You hadn't played golf for years, but this vacation/mission in Madeira actually allowed you to take up the sport that you loved so much.
As you made your way around the golf course, you couldn't help but notice the admiring glances of the other golfers. You were used to this kind of attention when you were younger, but today there was one man who caught your eye in particular. He was a tall and handsome stranger with piercing brown eyes and a charming smile. As you played your respective rounds around the course the man and you kept crossing paths, and he made a point to flirt with you shamelessly, despite you fake wedding ring. He seemed to be completely unfazed by the fact that you were married. In fact, he seemed to be drawn to it, as if the forbidden fruit was all the more tempting because of it. At first you were taken aback by his forwardness. You had never been one to encourage such behavior from strangers, and you certainly didn't want to risk anything that could potentially intrud the mission that you and Ruben had. However the man kept approaching you, forcing you to tell him off.
"Is your putt shot as awful as your pick up lines?"
The man laughed with his whole face, making him even more handsome.
"Is that a challenge?" He said.
You shrugged. "It's not a challenge when I know I'm gonna win."
The man looked to his caddie, nodding his head as to say that he was impressed. "Pepe hand me my putt." He ordered.
The caddie brought him his club, exchanging it for his iron seven. You stood ready to go, with the last hole within reach. You swung the club with ease sinking the ball right away.
"Impressive. " The man applauded. "If I sink the ball first try I'm taking you to dinner."
You smirked. He was slick, too slick for his own good. Successfully sinking the ball in the whole, the man turned to you, sporting a complement smile. "I guess dinner is on me. How about the restaurant near the marina?"
"Great, my husband and I will meet you there at seven."
The man laughed but stretched out his hand to shake yours. "Pleasure playing with you...."
"Y/N." You smiled. "Y/N Moreno."
"Alejandro Martinez." He said, causing your hand to go lump in his grip.
"Y...your...him."
"The owner of this resort? Yeah that's me."
But he was so young. Younger than you thought he'd be. He looked to be around fifty years old, but very fit for his age.
"You and your husband....you're staying at the villa with my family, no?"
"Um...yes."
You had a bad feeling about this. Alejandro Martinez was never known for spending much time at his resort, but here he was, enjoying a round of golf with you.
"Than we shall all see you again tonight." He turned your hand and kissed your knuckles. Heat rose to your face as you pulled away.
You couldn't wait to report all of this back to Ruben.

All 435 Representative seats are up for election (as they are every two years).
Every state is not a contested Senate state - every state doesn't even have senators running in this election. They're elected for 6 years each, in 2-year cycles.
34 Senate seats are up for election this year. 23 of those are currently held by Democrats or Independents, so the Republicans will be pushing hard to get one or two of them and take control of the Senate.
The grey states have no one in the running; there is no way to influence their existing senator balance.
Spots to watch:
West Virginia - Joe Manchin (I, former D) is stepping down; the state leans strongly red and pro-Trump, so this is one to push for activism. Glenn Elliott is the new Democratic candidate. He's running against Jim Justice, the current governor there, and the polls are not in Elliott's favor.
Montana - Jon Tester (D) - Another Democrat in a red state; the only one who holds statewide office in Montana. He's running for re-election against Sheehy.
Ohio - Sherrod Brown (D) running for re-election. Brown is a strong progressive; his opponent is Moreno, who is Trump's pick.
Nevada - Jacky Rosen (D) running for re-election. She's a first-term senator, and Nevada has been tilting blue but isn't strongly there. She's ahead of her opponent (Sam Brown) 47%-40% by some accounts, but almost tied at 41% each in others.
Arizona - Krysten Sinema (I) is stepping downn; Ruben Gallego is the Democrat running against Kari Lake, and numbers are so far in his favor.
Michigan - Debbie Stablenow (D) is retiring; Elissa Slotkin is very likely to be selected to run for her spot. Republicans haven't won a senator's race in Michigan for 30 years, but Trump is popular there. The likely R candidate is Rogers; polls have her about 9 points ahead of him.
Pennsylvania - Bob Casey (D) is running against McCormick; Casey is solidly leading in the polls.
Wisconsin - Tammy Baldwin (D) is likely going against Hovde - and while state polls put Trump ahead of Biden (...hah, those numbers are now all useless), she has a 5-pt lead in the polls.
Maryland - Angela Alsobrooks (D) won the nomination to go after retiring Ben Cardin's spot. This would be a non-competitive race (Biden was up 30 points in the last election), but she's running against a former governor, Larry Hogan. Hogan is trying to call himself a moderate; his track record doesn't show that.
Texas - Ted Cruz (R) is the incumbent; Colin Allred is his competition, and it's looking like a fairly close race - recent polls are 47/44 in favor of Cruz, but that's within the range of change.
This has a map with all the races:
even if you're resigned that trump is going to win, 1/3 of the country lives in states with competitive senate elections. if democrats win the senate, there is very little that trump can do (can't even appoint supreme court nominees)
the following states all have competitive senate elections:
arizona
florida
maryland
michigan
montana
nevada
ohio
pennsylvania
texas
wisconsin
even if you don't think your state is competitive at all, THESE SENATE RACES STILL ARE, SO IF YOU LIVE IN ONE OF THESE STATES, MAKE SURE TO VOTE
and even if you don't live in one of those states, you could live in a competitive house seat. if democrats win the house, then trump can't pass any bills
and even if you don't live in a competitive state or district, your local elections matter even more than federal ones because they have a much more direct impact on your life
so VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE

FC 25 Manchester City Rating Predictions
Champions again ole ole… After a treble-winning season in 22/23 it was always going to be hard to follow that up, but winning a 4th Premier League title in a row wasn’t a bad way to do so. It could have been another League and FA Cup double for City but Ten Haag’s Tricky Reds undid them in the final. Despite only winning the Premier League, we’re expecting plenty of upgrades for City, especially for the young stars!
Goalkeepers
Ederson (88>88) - A solid enough season for Ederson but no need for any change in terms of rating, but will there be a change of club? Links to the Saudi League have been around since the start of the summer, so don’t rule out Ortega taking the Number 1 spot next season.
Stefan Ortega Moreno (79>81) - Ortega may have only had a small part to play last season, but he was responsible for one of the biggest moments in the title race. His 1v1 save against Son in the dying moments kept City in the lead and secured a vital 3 points with just one game left. Deserves a +2 for that save alone.
Scott Carson (65>65) – This man has the best job in world football and long may it continue. He gets paid to be Erling Haaland’s best mate and he’s great at what he does, kept his 65 rating after 2 years of doing nothing on the pitch, so we’ve gone for the same again.
Defenders
Ruben Dias (89>89) - Ruben Dias has been in Manchester for 4 seasons and is yet to experience the feeling of losing a Premier League title race. We expect world-class performances from Ruben Dias but we need even more if he wants to hit that 90 OVR for FC 25.
John Stones (85>86) - If it wasn’t for his injury issues, John Stones would be up there with the best in the world, and on his day there isn’t anyone better. It’s just a question of how often those injury-free days are. He only featured in around half of City’s games last year but was incredible when he did so. +1 for The General and maybe a CDM alternate position too?
Joao Cancelo (86>86) - Will Cancelo still be in Manchester by the end of the transfer window? Who knows, but he’s back for now so gets included. He had a good season on loan with Barcelona but missed out on the title to Real Madrid, we’ve kept him at 86 but would not be shocked to see him back to an 85.
Kyle Walker (84>84) - Aside from a poor performance in the Euro 2024 final it was a decent season for Walker so we see no reason for change. Maybe a little downgrade in defending but across the board should stay fairly similar.
Manuel Akanji (82>83) - Akanji’s showdown card will go down in the FC 24 Hall of Fame and we’ll be expecting to see a lot of him again at the start of 25. A brilliant season from the Swiss international, we’ve played it safe with a +1, but an 84 certainly isn’t out of the question.
Josko Gvardiol (82>83) - Pep roulette can strike at any moment, but for now Gvardiol is safe. He locked down that left-back position towards the back end of the season and even started scoring screamers for fun. One more year like this and we’ll be expecting 85+ in 26, but for now, we’ve gone for a +1 at 83!
Nathan Ake (81>82) - Gvardiol made the LB his own last season but that meant Ake he’d play second fiddle and fill in where necessary across the back line. Was brilliant when he played so we’ve opted for a +1 here as well!
Midfielders
Kevin De Bruyne (91>91) - Kevin De Bruyne may have been injured for the first half of 23/24 but when he returned, he transformed Manchester City and helped them on their way to 4 in a row. The Belgian returned 18 Assists and 6 Goals in just 26 matches in all competitions. Manchester City only dropped 6 points in the matches KDB featured in this season, he is that guy.
Rodri (89>90) - There is an argument for Rodri to be the highest-rated player, not just in the Premier League, but in the game. He is the best player in the world and should win the Ballon d’Or, but we’re just not sure everyone sees it. 90 would be well deserved, but don’t be surprised if he edges into the 91 category…
Phil Foden (85>87) - If we were choosing ratings we’d have Foden at an 88 or 89 but we don’t think EA will be quite as generous. He was by far the best player in the Premier League last season and deserves a massive upgrade, but could range anywhere from 87 to 89.
Bernardo Silva (88>88) - It’s not summer without a Bernardo Silva to Barca transfer rumor, but we expect him to stay in Manchester for the upcoming season. An average season for his standards so we’re keeping him at 88.
Mateo Kovacic (82>82) - The Croatian’s first season at City was one to be proud of, finally winning the Premier League and adding that to his trophy cabinet. Played a huge role in the team, filling in across all midfield positions.
Matheus Nunes (79>79) - Nunes struggled a little bit in his first season at the Etihad, but when called upon he did impress. We’ve kept him at a 79 due to limited minutes but hopefully, he can improve on this in 2025!
Rico Lewis (73>78) - Rico Lewis will hopefully be running the City midfield for the next decade, and has been putting in a shift at both DM and Right Back. A fantastic season in 23/24 so we’ve gone for a huge +5 for Rico.
Attackers
Erling Haaland (91>91) - After a 52-goal debut season, it was always going to be hard for Erling Haaland to replicate that. He only scored a mere 38 goals in the 23/24 campaign, just about enough to keep him at a 91… The guy needs to grow up and score some proper goals to really earn a 92. Tap in merchant.
Jack Grealish (85>85) - It was a disappointing season for Grealish and he’d say so himself, missing out on the England squad and not featuring for City as much as he’d like. He still showed his quality when he did play so we’ll keep him at 85.
Savio (70>83) - One of the biggest upgrades for City goes to their new summer signing, Savio. The Brazilian was key to Girona’s success last season, guiding them to the Champions League for the first time in the club's history. We’re expecting a HUGE +13 for Savio in FC 25.
Jeremy Doku (77>81) - Due to how stacked the Manchester City attack is, we only saw glimpses of Jeremy Doku, but when we did it was unbelievable. He was the only player who decided to turn up in the FA Cup final and was their only outlet in that game. We’ve gone for a +4 for the Belgian.
Oscar Bobb (64>75) - Ole ole, ole ole, Oscar Bobb Bobb Bobb. Another HUGE upgrade for a Manchester City winger and this time for Norwegian Oscar Bobb. Again maybe we’ve been a tad ambitious here, but the quality is there to see with Bobb. It wouldn’t surprise me if he stole the RW spot from Bernardo Silva this season and solidified himself as a starter for Pep Guardiola.
Will it be 5 Premier League titles in a row for Manchester City? Let us know which team you want us to predict next!
