Rolls-Royce & The Black Badge: The Origin Story
The origin of Black Badge is revealed by Rolls-Royce ahead of the October 28th announcement.
The pioneering, industry-disrupting spirits of founders C. S. Rolls and Sir Henry Royce.
Black Badge responds to the demands of a new class of disruptors and visionaries
Torsten Müller-Ötvös - Chief Executive Officer from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars once said. “Rolls-Royce has always attracted a unique breed of outliers, visionaries and iconoclasts…
Black Badge is not a sub-brand. It is an attitude that represents an authentic and confident response to the desires of a new group of clients who proudly practise bold self-expression.”
Though, that quote is paraphrased, its impact and insight is not missed on us. On the 28th of October at 13:00 BST Torsten Müller-Ötvös will announce a new product that will add to the Royce portfolio - Black Badge”. As Müller-Ötvös mentioned this is not a “sub-brand” rather, it represents a natural evolution for Rolls-Royce as it is a brand that is defined by a culture of collaboration with its clients.
A Disruptive Heritage
founders Sir Henry Royce and C. S. Rolls both chose different paths from what their upbringing offered. Royce elevated from his humble beginnings becoming an engineering giant, creating motor cars. Whilst Charles Rolls, a young motor enthusiast with an interest in engineering, attended Cambridge University with an oil spattered tie - earning him the title ‘Dirty Rolls’.
Both with different starting points, though ultimately becoming the biggest and most influential motor brand of their time. The term ‘disruptor’ is given to people such as them in today’s world. however, in comparison to those disrupting different industries today, Sir Henry Royce and C. S. Rolls would deserve the moniker of arch-disruptors.
Together and through the persistent agonising pursuit of perfection, they created a car that was capable of replacing the traditional reliable horse & carriage. They were so successful in the creation of motor cars that years later, today the name Rolls Royce carries the same weight and influence as it did in the early 1900s.
Even though Rolls tragically lost his life at 32 years old performing at an air show at Hengistbury Airfield. Both Rolls & Royce built a brand and legacy that the likes of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Richard Branson and Larry Ellison strive to today.
Black Badge Beginnings
To understand where the Balck Badge’s roots begin we must first look back to 2003. When the Goodwood era began and the Phantom made its presence known - a saloon car that artistically brought to mind the grandeur and imperiousness of its forbears. Through the Phantoms success and a lot of client feedback, the ‘Ghost’ was later introduced in 2009 - becoming the best-selling Rolls-Royce in history.
These successes further spurred Rolls-Royce’s desires to reattune itself with the coming generations, men and women that demanded more dynamic motor cars. This demand later inspired the all-terrain Cullinan and the seductive Dawn Drophead Coupé.
The Broader Luxury Industry
As clients became younger, more dynamic, diverse and conscious as did Rolls-Royce’s scope of inspiration. We live in an era where the tension between rebellion and design tradition is both frequent and celebrated. Thus inspiration from classic garment silhouettes led to the innovative, contemporary use of dark materials - often complimented with a flash of bold colour.
This aesthetic was very similar to those of ohn Varvatos, Alexander McQueen, Rick Owens, Yohji Yamamoto and Ann Demeulemeester.
This movement expanded to the streets beyond the catwalk by men and women from all walks of life who would carry this look with them as they travel, hence Rimowa’s iconic black suitcase and Bottega Veneta’s black Cassette bag. The black everything style took flight (literally) as Blackbird Air specialised in providing fleets of black private jets.
Black became an immovable status symbol of rare inimitable luxury.
A Truly Contemporary Movement
In a similar way, that Chanel’s ‘little black dress’ evolved, so did Rolls-Royce and its clients. The traditional colour palette that represented the heritage of the brand was replaced with a darker noir aesthetic. However, while black products have reflected a sense of luxury - especially in fashion, Rolls-Royce’s designers now work to subvert it through the injection of bold colour.
This holistic approach is the first time Rolls-Royce has made a direct response to changing customer demands with equal weight by the engineering team as by the design collective.
Through the Black Badge, it will be the marque to define the new way of channelling and living in the spirit of its founders, forever challenging itself in times of unprecedented change.
The next chapter in Black Badge’s remarkable history will be announced at 13:00 BST on 28 October 2021. Visit www.rolls-roycemotorcars.com for more.

Antilia: The 2nd most expensive home in the world
The son of a renowned visionary and business man, Mukesh Ambani, born in Yemen, with heritage of name and position of Dhirubhai Ambani. He had a silver spoon, but Mukesh's enthusiasm, determination and business savvy all converted that spoon from silver to gold. He worked meticulously to build this multi-billion empire. The hard work and dedication resulted in huge success of Mukesh and after several years of patience, he moved from his little two-bedroom flat to a 27- story mega building. The tower is glorified as a sign of Ambani's richness, and the power.
The Marvel
The Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation accepted the construction proposal in 2003. The construction of the skyscraper commenced in 2006 and was originally initiated by the Australian business Leighton Contractors in collaboration with Perkins design companies in the USA and Will and Hirsch Bedner Associates. B. E. Billimoria & Company Ltd. completed the building. The house consists of 27 storeys with lofty ceilings. (Another equivalent-height structures may have up to 60 storeys.) The Building is designed to resist the earthquake upto a magnitude of 8.0.
The Astonishing Exterior
Even though it is a 27-story structure, due to the height and the huge high ceilings, of a 60-storey skyscraper, it is calculated to be as large as each level of a 2-story building. It is the highest residence in the world owned by a single family as it is 173 metres, almost 568 feet. However, this matter is continually discussed, as Antilia also has about 600 employees. These employees comprising bodyguards, assistants and other security workers have a large area to rest. There are three helipads in the building, however they are not operational. The helipads have to be certified air worthy by the Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and get approval from the central defence and environment ministries. The house has the possibility to host up to 50 guests, an on-site theatre, a salón, a dance room, a health spa, a ballroom, a studio, a yoga room, and a multi-suite for visitors. The property also includes a magnificent and notable temple. The villa also features 3 swimming pools of the Olympic size. The six upper floors are enclosed as private floors of the Ambani Mansion, and nobody has access to go there except Ambanis.

Elite Interior
Each floor of Antilia features a separate design for all the rooms. The use of unusual materials such as precious stone, marble, and mother-of-pearl in the building, and themes of the sun and the lotus all over the building makes the interior more attractive. No two storeys in the Antilia are meant to be same – regardless of the layout or materials used.
Convenience
Apart from the life draining heating of Mumbai, one of the other areas in the Antilia, Labyrinth is the Ambani family's snowroom. The snowroom's walls have been engineered to emit out Antarctic vibrational snowflakes. Do you wonder how the families move without breaking a sweat from one location to another? Well, owing to the 9 high-speed elevators. These lifts are allocated to various floor sets. The Ambani family, workers and visitors have separate elevators. If this is not enough, the gigantic edifice consists of three helipads. However, it still doesn't work since licences are waiting from the Director-General for Civil Aviation and the Ministries of Central Defence and Environment. Passion for Automobiles
The love of Mukesh Ambani for automobiles is widely known and reflected in the six-story parking space alone! It can hold upto 168 vehicles. The most expensive car owned by Mukesh Ambani is exclusive German-customised armoured BMW 760i, valued at US$1.4 million, its registration fee alone is about US$251,000. Here are the list of Top 8 most prized cars owned by the Ambani’s Clan-: 1. Maybach 62, worth US$730,000 2. Mercedes-Benz S-Guard 3. Bentley Bentayga 4. Bentley Flying Spur 5. BMW 760Li 6. Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé 7. Rolls-Royce Cullinan 8. Lamborghini Urus Not only that, Ambani is at its seventh storey with his own private vehicle service station.

Location
In one of the world's most expensive addresses, Altamount Strad in South Mumbai, lies the building with its 4,00,000 square-foot area. According to property trends, the rates near Altamount strad is ranges between Rs.85,000 to Rs.80,000 per square foot. The 4,00,000 sq. ft. building is valued at $2.2 billion, and is claimed to be the world’s second most valuable residential
property, after British crown property Buckingham Palace.
More into Rituals
The Griha Pravesh was done in November 2010, but Ambani did not immediately move in for fear of "bad luck". In June 2011, almost 50 pandits were invited to perform pujas and address vastu issues in the building, after which the Ambanis took up residence in September 2011.
So this was all about Ambanis dreamland. Their house is one of the most remarkable place of Mumbai.

Any Rolls-Royce automobile is a trophy of luxury available to a discerning number of customers with a taste for superior goods. Nonetheless, luxury can be delivered to a whole new level by making it your own. Regarding this particular 2021 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended, it was seriously customized according to the opulent taste from the owner Jack Boyd Smith, Junior.

Jack is a well-known collector associated with notable and historic motor cars—all stashed in the so-called JBS Selection. The collection includes beautifully plus meticulously restored cars from the Metal (1890-1919), Vintage (1918-1929), and Pre-War Classic (1930-1946) eras. He furthermore owns select rare models from your Modern era, and this bespoke 2021 Rolls-Royce Phantom Extended is now one of these.
This Phantom Prolonged is the fifth Rolls-Royce in the JBS Collection, which already includes a 1923 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Pall Shopping mall, a 2001 Rolls-Royce Corniche, the 2011 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Drophead Coupé, and a 2015 Rolls-Royce Phantom.
Koa wood retains a special place in Jack's heart. A possibility just because Koa Wood is an uncommon species of tree that grows just in Hawaii, but also due to the fact that the Koa wood rocking chair will be the centerpiece of their home in Boasts, Hawaii. Jack and his wife selected this rare wood to elegance the interior of his 2021 Phantom Extended.

That they had to be patient, however , as it required three years for the perfect Koa Wooden specimen to become available for this task. Featuring an unique depth and feed figure, this naturally harvested example of beauty was sourced from rare personal collection in Hawaii, and the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Woodshop worked to conserving its rich textural finish within the Phantom Extended, which is upholstered within Dove Grey leather.
Interestingly, the Koa Phantom includes a handcrafted headliner with 1, 420 fiber-optic lights that replicates the constellations above Cleveland, Ohio, on 06 27, 1958, which is Jack's birthdate.
The exterior finish from the Koa Phantom is unique as well. Rolls-Royce and Jack worked together to make sure that the Koa Phantom's outdoor color perfectly matches the “Packard Blue finish associated with Jack’s 1934 Packard Twelve Sports coupe. Jack even had to lend the fender from the Packard Twelve Sports coupe to ensure Rolls-Royce can create the exact colour replica.
