CATEGORY 2 (Humor):  I Feel All Mushy Und Tingly Inside

For the humor category, our participants were to draw something in which a character had created some sort of mind-controlling device or concept to make other characters fall in love in a humorous way.

Gaga, oooh la la! Yes, you were right. You did have a perfect idea for this category! Fit into the cheesiness of Ruby-Spears with your dialogue on point and the perfect twist to Wily’s plan leading to his downfall. Easily made me laugh the most, as I could hear their voices as I read through this whole thing.

Even though I never had one, I should have realized that was an Atari from the beginning. LOL Clever job with that twist at the end, as well as the cute part between Heat and Fire proving love can find a way without mind-controlling. Very cute comic!

3.) @hyperbole1729: $50 [IMAGE 1]

Oh, Neo World Three, always screwing up a plan, and yet it still somehow working out in the end. Although with Charlie not getting hypnotized, will he still fall for Tesla? How will he compete for her love against four other eligible bachelors? Find out on the next exciting season of Rockman.EXE: The Tesla-rette.

So cool and suave Blues is. You can’t control his love, but he can now control yours! I think Kalinka wins either way, even if poor Over-1 feels like it might have not gone to plan.

As always, you are so ambitious with your comics. And this one is such a wild ride. Even with a few heavier battle moments, the puns, the pairings, the frog and prince plot spin all made for really amusing content. Loved a lot of the crazy emotions and faces drawn, between Ninja Froggy Time, Spark Man both feeling it and getting ignored, and so many more. But again, you are being rewarded for something else.

*BONUS* CATEGORY 3 (WILDCARD): AKANE BRIBERY

For the wildcard category, all anyone had to do was draw me something Valentine-y featuring my favorite Megaman lady, Hoshikawa Akane. This act of mine hasn’t changed since Star Force came out, and yet you still all put up with me?! Well, now deal with me gushing over these pics, in a category just meant to tempt me.

Love is what I feel for this image. Gosh, those eyes just draw me in, with those super-stylized extra long lashes. The flow and movement of the pic from her hair to the dress blowing around in all it’s pieces, to the unique leaning pose. It’s just so different and gorgeous and totally won me over, so thank you!

Only you would both call me out as a simp and craft a piece around SIMPsons references, knowing how much I would enjoy it. I appreciate the volume and range of Akane’s in varying styles to tide me over. Super cute, super deformed, super hot and super humorous. Throwing in old pics you have drawn for the Kattelox gallery was perfect, and I don’t deserve you humoring me as often as you have over the years. Thank you!

3.) @maqqy96: $50 [IMAGE]

Pants are optional. Gosh, she’s so cute and so adorable here! Even as simplistic as the background is with her name and the green heart, it just works so well with the colors to tie into her outfit and still make the main art pop out. I love it a ton, thank you!

So much variety! I really do love the final pic the most with the heart hand pose and appreciate the wishes. But there is so much cuteness throughout! From the young lovebirds, which hardly anyone draws them from that concept art style, to hitting the major holiday costumes which tie into other contests/events I’ve held or helped out with over the years. The page of chibis is just super adorbs. Thank you for drawing so much of her, I love ‘em all!

Looks better than not my art 15 years ago. 

* Absolutely required? Well, if you want to creatively get around art being displayed in her gallery or presented to the museum curator without including her in it, but it makes sense, I guess I can’t absolutely require it. As always, people are free to interpret the requirements and draw how they want, but I do judge on how close it fits those theme requirements. So, I won’t say yes, she is absolutely required. I mean, if you choose to draw Akane, or a host of other characters, cosplaying as the curator in her place, who am I to stop you? But without the curator in the scene somehow, it kinda diverts from the whole point of the theme, in many respects.  * As far as I have ever encountered, other than her ripped model, no, the artwork from the Dash Great Adventure Guide is it. (Until UDON ever releases that Legends artbook we’ve been waiting on, I guess) Here is the full version from Rockman Cosmo’s scan at Legends-Station for better reference:

* As usual, the general rating is you can push things to be suggestive enough, that it’s able to still be posted on tumblr without getting my post blocked or account banned and this is not a secret hentai contest.  *cough*thereisnoratingrestrictionontheAkaneBriberycategorythough!*ahem* 🤭 

Happy smiling Angel Hertzes will censor things as they see fit if your tasteful artistic nudity inspired by a Renaissance piece, but with Megaman characters, pushes the envelope too far for this site or any image host.

I’m not quite sure where you are going with the ‘dark/violent/problematic’ content, so I would say please message me a little detail about your concept first. Parody and comedy is one thing (robots go boom all the time in this franchise, so that’s no biggy), and love can surely be portrayed darkly in art (see Cupid mythology in art), but...best to privately fill me in, first.

Not sure if this has been of any help, but hopefully I have given you a tiny bit more clarity.

Questions!

Is the presence of the Museum Curator absolutely required in the first category?

Are there any other official refs of her aside from this one?

What is the general rating for this contest. Like, say, could someone submit something that’s classified as NSFW? Not just stuff that could be sexy but possibly violent. I know, I know–what kind of sicko would submit something dark and edgy for a lovey-dovey valentine contest but what about works that could portray problematic content in an artistic or comedic way.

2022 Megaman Valentine’s Day Fanart Contest - 1 Week ‘Til Deadline!

Time has flown by as quickly as it usually does, and there is now just one final week remaining until deadline day for this year’s Megaman Valentines Day Fanart Contest: 15th Anniversary Hyper Cupid Plus Akane With a Touch of Red Edition!

All entries are due next Friday, Feb. 18th, by the global end of the day. Reminder, this little extra extension is already built in, so yes, Valentine’s Day will have passed, but you still have that extra time to work on your pieces. Still sitting at just a mere 3 participants, so you’ve got a great chance of winning some cash if you can whip something up within the next 7 days.

2022 Megaman Valentine’s Day Contest Results! (Part 1)

My sincerest thanks for your patience again, as this has unfortunately stretched into March. The world has been a tough, challenging place lately, and I appreciate all of you who took the time out of your lives to draw something for this contest. As well as those who continue to support me and it after 15 years of holding these art contests, for the fun of it. Every year I feel like it might be time to stop, as the fandom gets older and game interest is in a lull, but hopefully I can continue on to year 20 or more. Where does time go?

Anywho, you’ve waited long enough than to have me ramble on a ton, so here we go. This year we had 13 total entrants submit 18 unique entries. Well, and then some, with all the comics and bonus pieces. After the break, you’ll see all the entries from the first category, which focused on art with a little bit of red.

As I originally wrote this, I had saved my draft. Only to find out I must have hit an image and text limit, and half my work was not saved, despite clicking on save. I really didn���t want to use ‘tumblr ate my post��� as an excuse for being even more tardy on this, but here we are. So this is now broken into 2 parts and comments are a little shorter, since I had to redo it.

Originally, on top of the standard two categories, the third wildcard entry was going to be a bonus for one person to come away with first-place prize money if they could bribe me with their best Akane art. But then I changed it and made that a full prize category as well. But between making it super hard for me to choose between any sort of Akane drawing, the rough years of Covid affecting us all, and now war on the whole world’s mind, I felt I needed to do something nice for everyone who participated this year. It is the 15th anniversary after all.

So, all 13 people who submitted art this year are winners. Good news, everyone!! Yes, you all win! Even if you do not place in the top 3 for a category, everyone will be getting $50 sent to their Paypal account for participating. I will be contacting all participants about their winnings soon.

CATEGORY 1 (Talent):        Some Talent                                                -> Some Red

For the talent category, participants were to draw some form of visual art put on display at the Kattelox Art Gallery or being presented to the Museum Curator for a Valentine’s Day exhibit. Something red was required to be in the piece, to allude to the classic moment from the first Legends game.

Loved the Instagram-style way to pull off the requirements as a way to promote the art in the gallery! The painting of Laika and Pride is really unique with the abstract art style for their clothing, and still very cute and romantic. It really fit the theme well and felt like something that would hang in an art museum. 

2.) mattasaurs: $75 [IMAGE 1]

The little bit of red in the painting from X’s ear piece in the art was so subtle, even I almost missed it. But that works. A little X DiVE fanservice between swimsuit Alia and X in the art, which still gives off a wholesomely romantic aura. And, well, I guess a tiny bit of fanservice from the curator herself. 

3.) @dahlia-the-nurd: $50 [IMAGE 1]

You are my Sunstar, my only Sunstar,  you make me happy on this V-Day... I liked the sculpture concept for this piece and despite not being fully colored, you still got the red in to fit the content requirements.

A cute pic with a flower girl giving her guy some flowers and a kiss. Plenty of red to fit that part of the theme, but was looking for a little more to tie it into the art and museum requirements of the category.

There’s a not really dirty magazine in the museum. It might still be fun to look at. There’s nobody around. You won’t get in trouble if anyone sees you.  While yes, talent-wise, this piece probably would have taken the top prize on style alone, I chose to award you for your other entry. The subtle amount of red from the lipstick on Zero’s cheek to the highlights to the Heartless logo on the wine bottle all stood out against the darker color of the cover pic.

Cute pic with the little bit of red by featuring Roll, but just was looking for it to fit more into the art and museum part of the category’s theme.

Very enjoyable, but I chose to reward you for your color works in another category. Blast Man you are horrible. As usual, very clever and informative, utilizing the Robot Master’s personalities and in-game dialogue to fit the art/museum theme really well. I had a good laugh at Tundra’s improvisation with Sparkey the Terracotta Turkey, and the comic really just worked so well on all points.

2022 Megaman Valentine’s Day Fanart Contest - Today is Deadline Day!

It is time for the last call for any entries for this year’s Megaman Valentine’s Day Fanart Contest! Entries are due today, Feb. 18th, before the global end of the day. 

As of this post, you have around another 14 hours or so to get your drawings of art showcasing love for the museum curator, mushy und tingly mind control, or tons of Akane that I will love and feel all mushy und tingly about, sent in to me. 

A few more have trickled in today, so I can at least say we have a contest for all 3 categories. But still, if you get your submissions sent in, you have quite a good chance at winning some sort of cash prize.

As of today, there are two weeks remaining before the deadline for this year’s Megaman Valentine’s Day Fanart Contest. As a reminder, with a little extension built in this time around, entries are due by Friday, February 18th, before the global end of the day.
