Chapter 4 - The beginning

Keigo stepped into the dark alley, azure eyes cutting through the dark and looking back at him paired with the red glow of the cigarette Dabi had hanging from his lips. Dabi narrowed his eyes at him before Keigo stepped closer and joined him in the shadows.

“You sure this place is safe to talk? The main street isn't that far off,” Keigo shivered slightly, the cold air biting his cheeks. His eyes scanned the surrounding area. Grimy brick walls caged them in and a rusty dumpster shoved in the corner of the alley, the buzzing of flies near it filling his hearing until Dabi spoke.

“We’re fine birdie, No one ever cares to come down here. These are just old abandoned apartments, no one has any reason to come down here,” Keigo ignored the bite to Dabi’s tone, his eyes focused on a poorly boarded-up apartment door. The screws were loose, he could probably rip the wood boards off with his hands. And Dabi was right, what reason would anyone need to come down here? He had put a lot of thought into his plan of getting you back, the only missing piece was to keep you.  He couldn’t bring you into his apartment, too risky. But…this place might do fine. He could get in there, clean it up a little, and keep you there until you saw things his way. Baby-proof it a little and make it more comfortable for you.

“Hey! Have you even been listening to what I’m saying, idiot-”

A soft breeze blew through your hair softly as you stood on the apartment balcony with your friend. She lazily jutted her hand out, cigarette box in her palm.

“M’ not going to start smoking just because of a stupid break-up Tori,” You chuckle softly as she rolls her eyes and stuffs the box back into the pocket of her sweatpants. She cared. In her own weird way. Lucky bitch had never gone through a breakup because she never really bothered with dating, more focused on her job. You envied that. You could see her run a hand through her hair from your peripheral, her eyes trained on the city below. 

“Just sayin',It’d do you some good…” Tori mumbled softly

“Don’t try to peer pressure me,”

“God, what are we in, middle school?” She barked out a laugh and you gave her a light shove. 

“Whatever loser, I’m gonna head to bed. Make sure you get some rest, Yeah?” Tori turned to softly ruffle your hair before opening up the sliding glass door that led back into her warm living room.

“Yeah yeah, I know…Night Kotori~” You could hear her groan at the usage of her full name before she slammed the door closed and huffed back to her room. You were childhood friends, growing up in Fukuoka near the ocean. Working at the same Temple as teens. She had stopped using her full name by the time she was sixteen but you had best friend privileges, so you could call her whatever you wanted without getting burned by her quirk. Her fire quirk was always so cool to you as kids, granted, every quirk is cool to a quirkless little girl. She was a year older and just had an aura of coolness. But realistically as you grew together her quirk became an inconvenience for her, overheating and burns growing more common. But hey atleast she didn’t need a lighter for her cigarettes. Her bad habits weren’t any of your business as long as she wasn’t dying or something. The night grew colder and the tea you brought out with you was getting cold too. You took one last breath of fresh air before turning around to grab your things and head back inside, but stopped by someone grabbing you from behind. A palm slapped over your mouth as panic shot through your body. You opened your mouth to bite the attacker before warm breath hit the shell of your neck.

“Try not to struggle too much, don’t want this to hurt too bad,"

Deeply he hated this. Despite how his brain screamed this was right, necessary, love. Wrong love. But love nonetheless. And as he tied your limp wrists to the headboard of the bed he understood why you left. He was proud though of how he managed to clean up the abandoned home. It was still dusty and the slightest creepy but it was a bit more comfortable and clean. The tables, counters and any other flat surfaces were wiped clean. He changed the bedsheets of the bedroom and proofed the room. Locks on the doors and windows, blankets he bought around the bed and plush pillows he sat you up against. Once he had you properly tied down he scooted away, sitting on the edge of the bed looking at you. So pretty. He didn't want to scare you too badly when you woke up so he made sure there was space between the both of you. The shot would only last an hour so you'd wake up soon. And when you did…he would make you see it his way. 

His body tenses as he hears you whimper softly, your eyes slowly opening and adjusting to the dark dusty room, the only light coming in through a grid like Shape from bars and wood over the windows. His eyes dart to your hands, fingers flexing as you try to move them before the rope restricts anything further. Your eyes meet his and for a moment it's calm. Quiet. Your eyes flood with panic and his wings poof up. 

“Hey, baby…"

“It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater Sure looks strange to me”

“Does it sound strange to you, Maki?” Rin slid into the opposite side of the booth from Maki, tray full of deep fried finger food ready to be shared

“What were you singing?”

“Kayo-chin’s finding all these weird Halloween songs for the party playlist. That my fave so far.”

“Did she get the werewolf ones I sent her?” Maki started on the french fries, dipping them in her chocolate milkshake. Rin fake gagged, then chugged a handful of jalapeno poppers to chew while singing.

“I lose control, I just can't stop You look so good, like a big pork chop Ripped my pants, ripped my shirt I'm going to eat your mother for dessert”

“That’s disgusting.” Maki snapped.

“I know. Does Nico know you like that song? Or your Mom?”

“I meant eating while singing. And who said I liked that song?”

“It was first on the list.”

Maki lowered her eyes, pretending to be focused on sipping her shake, slight flush on her cheeks. “I like to be thorough.”

“Thorough like a chainsaw.” Rin sawed back and forth through the air. “Does Halloween bring out the beast in you, Maki-chan?”

“There is no beast in me. And you’re practically a cat.”

“Nyat what we’re talking about, Fang-y.”

“Did you decide on your costume.”

“No no, no hints. Nobody will recognize Rin.”

“There’s only so many of us going to party. Line up heights, stare at the tiniest two, realize that one’s not Nico and…” Maki flipped her hands open.

“Rin could wear platforms. Or…did Nico decide on a costume?”

Maki grimaced, grinding a french fry to pulp, “She won’t listen to reason.”

“She still thinks you want to go with Eli?”

Maki hesitated. “Not really. But she got really mad when I suggested she could go as Frankie.”

Rin giggled. “You could have said Bond.”

“That would have made it worse.”

“Nozomi and Eli are coming as Sailor Neptune and Uranus anyway.”

“Yeah, they got Stars. Lucky. What else were we supposed to do with ‘Deadly’?”

“Yeah, that’s tough. You can’t really dress up like a heart attack. Maybe you could be a werewolf attack. Nico likes red. And you could sing about chainsaws: Eat you cooked, eat you raw, I'm going to rip you up like a big chainsaw.”

“Nico’s love for red would not include ‘covered in fake blood,’ Rin.”

“You don’t know if you don’t ask.”

“I do, I really do.” Maki leaned back, smirking. “Plus, my costume looks good, Kotori gave me some tips. Nico will only fake complain that there’s no way I can be hotter than her, but not really mind.”

Rin still had no idea how Nico and Maki worked as a couple, but their friction had sharpened into public flirting that kindled fiercely private contentment. That made her happy for her friends.

“What is Nico coming as?”

“Like you, she won’t say. Just that it’ll be killer.” Maki frowned, “I think Hanayo knows. She and Nico keep giggling on the phone and sending pics back and forth.”

Rin hadn’t noticed. Her head tilted, eyes blinking. Kayo-chin told her everything.

“Don’t go there, Rin. Curiosity killed the cat.”

“Kayo-chin would never hurt me.”

“But she’s keeping a Nico-chan secret.”

Nico-chan would feel hurt, betrayed. It would be Rin’s fault and Nico would be mad at Kayo-chin.

Rin squared her shoulders, “Rin won’t ask.”

Maki's phone pinged, “It’s time to meet them anyway. Nico wants to watch something called “Werewolf By Night” Honoka says Umi passed out during.”

Rin stood up, “People are weird.”

“How?”

“If Honoka were actually attacked by a werewolf, Umi would chop it in half before it could bite anybody. But on a TV screen…”

Maki chuckled, “Well, I’m glad Umi faints instead of chopping screens in half.”

“Yeah.”

“But people are weird.”

“Says Fangy with a chainsaw.”

“Don’t even start.”

“Already did.”

“Leaving you behind.”

At that, Rin sprinted off, “Last one there’s a werewolf loser.”

Maki sent Nico a “meet us at the corner instead” text. Rin couldn’t win if she didn’t know where the finish line was.

A/N:

I love not so serious Maki and Rin conversations. And werewolf-ery, but you probably know that already ; ) Rin and Hanayo's word was "Witchcraft." Any costume guesses?

who is your current favorite love life idol and why? were they your first favorite idol or did you discover them after playing the game more? did you dislike them or not care about them then they grew on you?

im very interested since i feel like youve mentioned it but never really went into depth about said topic.. love you corpsette btw

my first favorite was riko, i remember i got into love live in ~2016 (after sunshine season 1 but before season 2, before the first aqours duo-trio album as well) with my first actual taste of it being sif1 (rip....), i saw her at the screen to choose your starting idol(?) and i really liked her from that point. however, i think shes probably been overtaken by yohane for my favorite aqours member. recently yohane got an anime focused on her and ive been meaning to watch it but havent yet... i also need to finish sunshine season2 ive been procrasting SINCE IT CAME OUT!!! T-T

also, back then i considered myself to have a fave muse member (eli) but i barely interacted with muse in any of the games and only watched like 4 eps of sip so i gave up on labelling myself as having a fave muse member since it feels a bit wrong to do so when i know so litttle even though information is easily avaliable to me yk, however towards the end of me labelling myself as having a fave muse member it started to shift to kotori

when nijigaku (at the time pdp) was revealed i clung to kanata, however my fave nijigaku member is now probably lanzhu (she might be one you remember me talking about? possibly yohane as well), the only sifas season i fully(?) read was season 2 bc of her, thats the season she was introduced/an antagonist in, i want to watch the nijigaku anime to see her but i heard they changed her personality a bit so im a bit anxious. everyone hated lanzhu when she was first revealed it seems except me. also shes the only member i actually tried to read all of the bond stories of in sifas (rip........)

for liella, i forget who i liked when they were first revealed pre-anime, but i do like keke. i also think margarete will become a fave as well when she joins liella in the upcoming third season i already like her a little :3

i havent engaged with much hasunosora but i think if i do ill like tsuzuri

i dont think ill be able to pin the exact reason why i like everyone - i just attach to a character and accept it i guess, but i can give a reason i like keke and why i think ill like tsuzuri!

keke - how much she wants to be an idol... even as a kid i wanted to make music in a way, and when i first watched aqours i guess the urge grew stronger, so its like im watching someone who has the same wish as me actually succeed in doing so...

tsuzuri - when her introduction video was released my first thought was "wow, i think people might describe her in ways i was described" (specifically, how i was once described as always seeming like im in another world or somewhere else mentally) so ive been predicting me liking her ever since. but i havent read too much about her yet so

“My little Snowflake” Pt.7

Previous parts:

The moment you woke up you jumped out of bed to make some final preparations.

You usually weren’t a morning person, but you were eager to find out what was going on with Gabriel.

“He surely wouldn’t expect me to be awake this early!” You kept on repeating to yourself to erase any thought of doubt that entered your head.

After you removed the furniture barricading your door you went to get the keys for the door.

But when you looked into the cupboard, you realised that they weren’t there.

Gabriel.

Gabriel had took them.

Who else could it have been?

Did he know?

How could he know?

He was some sort of powerful creature, so if he was able to read minds it wouldn’t surprise you.

Luckily you had a few replacement keys hidden around the house.

Nothing would stop you today!

You unlocked the door with a key that you kept under the mattress of your bed.

This time, the lock did not click.

It was still horribly cold outside, but just a bit of cold wasn’t enough to stop you.You moved from street to street, trying your best to stay hidden.

So far so good!

You had come a long way without encountering any alternate!

But now, you didn’t really know where to go.

Gabriel could be anywhere!

The church on the hill ripped you from your thoughts. It was as if all light had faded around it, the midnight blue covering the sky above it giving off an eerie atmosphere.

Maybe finding out more about the alternates would be a good idea too, since Gabriel seems to have a connection to them.

Or maybe someone needed help?

You decided Gabriel could wait and went up to investigate what was going on at the church.

The way up was hard, since the grass hadn’t seen a lawnmower in quite a long time.

Eventually, you made it up to the church.

Close enough to see what was going on, but distant enough to go unnoticed.

A man was standing there, in front of the church. He had a name tag entitled “Dave”.

What was “Dave” doing out here so carelessly?

He didn’t look like a religious man either, just what was he doing here?

As you tried to examine the man, observing every detail you noticed something white floating in the dark sky.

What? No…it couldn’t be…Gabriel?

It just couldn’t be!

What would Gabriel be doing here anyways? Didn’t he say he hated humans?

Your suspicion was confirmed as the floating thing spoke:

”You were so close, David. You had it all figured out. The stage was set for you! Yet you still managed to follow the shepherd...”

Your knees got soft and your breath was shaking.

Without a doubt, that was Gabriel’s Voice, but it was a little different to the one you had heard him use.

It was deeper, powerful and sounded devilish, each word spoken sent a shiver trough your whole body.

You regretted coming here. But you were so close from the truth, you couldn’t give up now!

Just what was Gabriel doing?

Hi, lovely anon!! Thanks for being my first request after my return from a long hiatus~ I kind of struggled because it's been such a long time since I wrote, but when I saw this request, I thought to myself, "it's my favorite Love Live character!" Which made me think maybe a friend requested this so I wouldn't have no requests in my inbox lol because I hardly wrote any Love Live! fanfiction on this account before. Icon credit to sailorprettycure!

Anyway, since there was no specified mood (?) I tried to go with a light fluff with an everyday feel (like how the Love Live! animation is). Not much really happens in this, but I hope you can feel that you are friends with Honoka~ Here we go! (Edit: also I didn't really do much to emphasize the femreader part of it but she goes to the same school as Honoka, so I hope that's enough?)

“What do you think?”

Honoka twirled in the new costume before you, anxious to hear your appraisal. It was a simple outfit: a black leotard in low-cut, dark wash, ripped jean shorts, paired with some silver bangles and earrings. Over the leotard, she had on a white, gauzy, off the shoulder crop top with frilled edges with flowy, open sleeves. She hadn’t bothered to change her hairstyle, but somehow you felt it suited her more that way–or maybe you were just more accustomed to it.

“You look adorable,” you beamed at her. “Is that outfit for your next live?” 

Honoka brightened up and nodded eagerly, her side-ponytail energetically bobbing with her head. 

“Yeah! But just the prototype,” she amended. “Kotori wanted me to try it on and see what I thought about it, and I figured it couldn’t hurt to get a second opinion on it. I mean, it’s not supposed to be public information, but since it’s you, I don’t think she’d mind at all.” 

She stopped rambling for a moment and carefully stared into your eyes with those big blue eyes of hers. “You really mean it, though? You like it?” 

You laughed and swooped in for a hug, pressing your cheek against hers affectionately. 

“Like it? I love it! Tell Kotori it’s amazing and that you should definitely keep the prototype,” you reassured her. “Though I don’t know what your next song will be like, so I don’t know how well it matches the concept of your song.” 

Honoka wrapped her arms around you and lightly hugged you back before pushing you off of her. 

“Hehe, I knew Kotori’s designs couldn’t go amiss! But I think if you hug me any longer, it might get wrinkly, and you know how Umi gets when…” she grimaced. 

“Yeah, I know, I know,” you conceded. “Sorry, my bad–you want some ice cream? I’ll go get it while you change out of the costume.” 

Honoka takes hardly a second to consider it before flashing a happy smile at you. 

“Would you? You’re the best,” she said with a toothy smile. “I’ll get changed now, so hurry back!” 

“Of course,” you grinned. “What are friends for, after all?” 

You step out of the room and dash out the door to stop by the nearest convenience store. Luckily, 7-11 was hardly a block away. 

You gently knocked on the door to the room. “Honoka?” you called out. “I’m back with strawberry ice-” 

The door slammed open abruptly, taking you aback as Honoka pulled you inside and closed the door behind you just as quickly. 

“Come in, I’m already done changing! You came back pretty fast, but I was faster,” she giggled. 

“Since when was this a race?” you playfully crossed your arms and raised an eyebrow. “Anyway, here you are–strawberry ice cream with cornflakes!” 

She snatched it out of your hands and unwrapped it in record speed before giving it a great lick with just as great relish. 

“Mm!” she exclaimed as she plopped down on the floor.

You couldn’t help but let out a laugh as you joined her in sitting down.

“You know, with the way you’re acting, I’d think you only have this once every ten years or something.” 

She stuck her tongue out at you. 

“So what? It’s just that delicious!” 

You shook your head as you started opening your own frozen treat as well, albeit slower than Honoka. 

“No, no, it’s not a bad thing,” you chuckled. “I think it’s a good thing that you still enjoy it so much and appreciate how delicious it is, even after eating it so many times.” 

“You think so?” A hopeful note colored Honoka’s voice. 

“Duh,” you smiled. “You know, I think I become more honest when I’m with you. Even though you’re probably pretty easy to fool,” you emphasized your words with a poke to her nose, causing her to reflexively flinch and blink, “maybe it’s ‘cause you’re so honest that I end up being this way too.”

Honoka swallowed her bite of ice cream. A light, peachy blush began to spread across her cheeks. 

“Well, I-” she stuttered. “Gee, thanks?” 

“You’re welcome,” you smirked. “Hey, your ice cream’s melting.” You pointed at the edge of her ice cream cone, where the pink ice cream was starting to look more and more watery and wobbly. 

“Oh! Thanks,” she quickly said before her mouth was, once again, full of ice cream. She glanced over at you. “You know, have you ever thought about becoming a school idol, too?” 

You shrugged. 

“No, not really. I think I’m happier to watch you guys and be your fan. You know I can’t sing and dance at the same time like you guys. My stamina’s terrible.” 

Honoka tilted her head and pursed her lips. 

“But my stamina wasn’t that good when we started Muse, either! You know how hard Eli and Umi worked us?” She shuddered. “Hanayo and I were collapsing every day after all that training,” she said with a dark look on her face. 

“Well, you guys were motivated to continue despite how hard it was, right? I don’t think I’m that motivated,” you sighed. “I’m just a part of the going-home club now, you know. Not like you guys, training so hard that you become famous nationwide and save our school from being shut down-” 

Honoka hit you with a toast-shaped plushie, effectively shutting you up. 

“It was hard to get this far, you know,” she pouted. “Even I sometimes wanted to give up. But, well, maybe being a school idol just isn’t what you’re passionate about,” she admitted. “I’m sure you’ll find something amazing that you’re passionate about eventually,” she grinned at you. “Plus, you could join our school idol club as like…um…” 

She thought for a moment. “As a manager or staff member, I guess! Instead of a performer. You know we do all the work preparing our costumes, songs, dances, coordinating venues and stuff ourselves, right? But it can be pretty tiring because we also have to train and practice every day.” 

You opened your mouth and then shut it, pressing your lips together tightly. Join Honoka and the others, when you scarcely knew anything about the world of school idols, barring what they shared with you as friends? It was unrealistic, and you didn’t even have that much time left at Otonokizaka High before graduating, not to mention that you should be preparing for the nationwide exam to get into college. 

“What do you think?” Honoka awaited your answer, her eyes gleaming brightly like dazzling sapphires beneath the spotlight–you knew that look. It was the look she had when she recruited each member of Muse and when she convinced Kotori and Umi to join her in the first place. It was the look she had when she had already decided to never give up. 

You thought about it some more. Yes, it was unrealistic, but then again, when had Honoka ever cared about what was realistic when she started Muse to save beloved Otonokizaka from its seemingly-assured death? 

“Alright, count me in.” 

Honoka hugged you tightly before you could even react. 

“Yay!!” she cheered. “You won’t regret it, I swear!” 

“You know, I keep changing because of you,” you sighed. You contentedly smiled, more to yourself than to the Honoka currently wrapped around you. “But, I think it might be a good thing.” 

Extra

“Why did you call me here?” You arched an eyebrow with due suspicion right at Honoka. “Why are we at the school courtyard over the weekend?”

“Now that you’ve decided to join us, it’s time to find out what you’re good at so we can figure out what you can do,” she grinned. “Come on, let’s go! We can’t do this during normal school days because the rest of Muse is too busy practicing, so you can just take a crash course on all the things that we do.” She grabbed your hand and started excitedly dragging you into the school. “Kotori will tell you about designing costumes, Umi will talk to you about writing lyrics, Maki will show you how she composes songs, and-” 

You started to tune out the rest as Honoka continued. Just what had you gotten yourself into? Your days were about to get much busier and livelier–but when you thought of those days being spent with Honoka, you couldn’t help but think you’d be okay with that.

Kotori: Ahhh, I accidentally ripped the egg again... Kanata: Don't worry about it, it's fine. Let me see that~ ...There. Kotori: Wow! Kanata: See~? Even if it's a little torn, as long as you put the rice on it nicely, it'll be fine~ Kotori: I see... But it's nowhere near as nice as the omurice you make, Kanata-san... I wonder if I could do that if I practiced... Kanata: Of course you can. With how good at cooking you are, I'm sure it'll be nice and easy for you once you get the hang of it ♪ Kotori: I'll do my best! I'll make the best omurice for Honoka-chan and Umi-chan! Kanata: If that's your goal, then you've already done it. Kotori: Huh? Kanata: After all, you've poured all your thoughts and feelings for those two into it. That's the secret ingredient to making the best dishes~!

-ohhh my gosh yuto, shun, and ruri in casual clothes hangin out and watching kaito duel (also, this heartland has duel schools! named after card suites! thats fun) shun and kaito must be the same age, right? …so I assume the flashback is when they were 17ish and kaito is 18 now like in zexal? so the attack on heartland took place over the course of a few months to a year (ongoing it seems like but only to get stragglers now…oof) I thought shun, ruri and yuto were all the sameish age but nope. knowing yuzu and yuya are 14 makes me think all the counterparts are the same, so its probably pretty likely all three went to normal (non dueling) school together AND then duel school together, but yuto and ruri are prob in the same age so they mightve been friends first from going to the same school, and ruri later introduced yuto to her brother? so they have a cute lil trio now…this is my headcanon. Summary: The Pandæmonium Riders encounter something new

“I’ll make this quick.” Honoka said from in front of her flight. “The Jardin de Verre has been sent to investigate a strange hurricane-like phenomenon. We are to support them, if Paragon activity is discovered.”

“Paragon vessel detected!” Nozomi’s voice came over the comm.

That was quick. Umi thought to herself.

“It’s trying to cloak itself in the eye of the storm.” The ship’s second officer continued.

“We’re going to try approaching from above.” Eli, the captain, added.

“I’m sensing weapons powering up. They know we’re coming.”

“Here we go.” Honoka grinned. “For some of you, this is your first assignment. Just follow my lead. Or Umi-chan’s, whoever is closer. Remember to trust your dragon. And most importantly, come back here safely.”

“Kotori is cooking for us tonight.” Umi added. “She’s expecting all of us to be there.”

That earned an enthusiastic reaction from those gathered.

“Pandæmonium Riders!” Honoka shouted. “To the skies!”

With that, dozens of dragons and their riders flew out of the hold of the airship Jardin de Verre. Immediately, they found themselves enshrouded in thick clouds and buffeted by shifting winds.

“Keep descending!” Honoka called. “Nozomi-chan said there’s an eye somewhere down there.”

Eventually, the flight burst through the belly of the clouds, into the eye of the storm.

“What is that, nya?” One of the flight’s newest members, Rin, asked. “Looks like a jellyfish.”

Sure enough, as the riders continued past the upper dome, large tentacles could be spotted hanging below. And just as many ocean-dwelling species of this world, much of the foreign sky creature was translucent, allowing the Paragon moving within to be seen.

However, this was no ordinary sky giant, corrupted by the Paragon and repurposed for war. There were weapons, yes, that were starting to fire on the flight. But Umi could see what looked like the research equipment used by the URS, a nation that was known for reverse engineering salvaged Paragon technology.

“This is not a battleship.” Umi thought aloud. “This is a reconnaissance vessel, sent to try to spy on us.”

“Well we’re not gonna let them do that.” Honoka declared. “Everyone, attack! Send it to the depths! Don’t let them gain anything important!”

The dragons began to swarm, launching a myriad of breath attacks ranging from fire to ice, acid to explosive compounds, and wind to sand. And of course, Tempest’s lighting.

However, Umi frowned as her dragon sent another bolt, only for it to skitter, seemingly harmlessly, across the surface. Not good.

“Umi-chan!” Honoka cried as she guided Pandemain near her second in command. “Our attacks aren’t working! What do we do?”

Umi watched acid slide off the side, and explosions and winds just cause ripples. Solids like ice, sand, and the projectiles from the riders’ weapons seemed to scratch the surface, but at least had a lasting effect. Perhaps…

“Umi-chan?”

“One moment.” Umi said.

Where? She studied the layout of the vessel. Where…? There? Maybe?

Umi drew her bow, gathering as much magic as she could muster and concentrating it in the arrowhead.

Breathe.

Aim.

Release.

The arrow flew true. And punched through the jellied armor.

“Tempest, follow my arrow!”

The dragon loosed a bolt with absolute precision through the hole and into a bank of equipment. Immediately, explosions ripped through the room, spreading to others. And out through the armor, leaving massive tears.

“There are our openings.” Umi ordered. “Attack through those!”

The dragons swarmed again. This time however, they were able to make short work of the enemy, sending it, as ordered, to the sea below.

“They used to be invaders like the rest.” Rin said. “Until they took an arrow to the bridge.”

Honoka burst out laughing. “Good one, Rin-chan!”

Wait… was that a joke? Umi didn’t get it. Well, no matter. She decided as the storm subsided and the flight made their way back to the airship.
