PBS Kids Shows I Have Nostalgia For
Sesame Street (don’t @ me, it was the only thing on at 7:00 am or whenever the heck I’d wake up for school)
Super Why! (didn’t mind it. The pea girl actually inspired one of my current EAH OCs)
The Magic School Bus (duh)
Bill Nye the Science Guy (duh again)
Arthur (not my fav, but a classic)
Clifford (I was OBSESSED with the movie as a kid)
Liberty’s Kids (my dad showed it to us via YouTube. It’s amazing)
Curious George (didn’t like it as much, but it was on all the damn time, so I still remember a lot about it. Now I feel a tad bit of nostalgia for it)
Word Girl (not my fav for SOME REASON. Love it upon rewatching it. Still loved the villains as a kid)
Word World (rarely watched it, but sometimes caught it, and it facinated me)
Martha Speaks (yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhh baby now we’re talking. Mainly my sib’s fav, but I grew to love it, and we named our dog Martha. I also have most of the theme song memorized)
Sid the Science Kid (hated it, but I had a short attention span, so I would watch it anyways. Might’ve had a crush on the teacher. I liked the repetative formula. I still remember the germs episode)
The Electric Company (2009) (underrated. Facinated by the lore. Love the opening. Cried when it was cancelled)
Dinosaur Train (same feelings as Curious George)
The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That (I found it both annoying and fun)
Wild Kratts (FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >:DDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!! This show was my special interest for years. It goes hard. My dad still makes references to it. We memorized the theme song. I love this show so much. Martin was my biggest crush at the time. I would die for this show)
Odd Squad (Masterpiece. Can’t get enough of it. Didn’t watch every season, but still love it to death. Bought the movie and I still watch it sometimes. Mom loves it too. Me and my sib would never miss an episode. I still remember the premiere. We were eating breakfast in front of the tv, when a new show came on. “Huh, must be a new show,” my mom said. We decided to just sit through it and watch the first episode. And oh boy, by the time it ended, I decided that I was gonna watch this show every morning and Wild Kratts every afternoon. And that’s how it all began. Still need to finish the series)
~~~~~
So yeah, I was a huge PBS Kids kid growing up. Didn’t have cable, and I’m honestly glad, because then I wouldn’t have had all these growing up. And I’m so glad I had them.
I disdain and hate Engish dialogue punctuation. I'll explain.
With M-dashes for dialogue and quotation marks for thoughts and inner monologues, the text is objectively a lot easier to read without actually reading the script. You're aware of what to expect, grammatically, and can adjust to the author's pace this way.
I am a fast reader, it's all vital for me and it's a generally good exercise to try and implement grammar as a pace marker.
But the way English-language allows for random placements of the spoken speech is aggravating; it's not, technically, the language's fault, but I totally understand why people constantly feel lost or don't understand the system completely. I don't understand it either, and in a sense, I reject and resent it.
How are you supposed not to if everything looks exactly the same?
Especially when it allows this to exist:
"A lengthy line of dialogue", character A says. "A line that belongs to its own paragraph and is poorly indicated, if at all", character B adds. [Unrelated things are happening here and it's not clear why they're not their own paragraph.] "Line." [who said that???]
Bonus point if there is no indication and the reader is expected to utilise the power of cosmos to understand who said what lest they don't want to reread an entire scene multiple times to simply be able to digest it.
It's partly author's fault. A paragraph is a concealed thought, it should be lone in most cases, but intertwined with everything else. We as authors should always remember this.
But the language allows to mush these thoughts together. It creates a sense of the flow, yes, to write like this; but then its reading is done backwards. You have to look at the end of the next sentence to know who said it, then read the line, then read everything assembled together, and even if your eyes were trained to do that in seconds, it's tiring and unnecessary. Cute but rocky flow, perhaps you shouldn't write like this, maybe it's better to opt out for something like this:
"Line." "Line?" "Line x10." "Oh. Line then."
If a paragraph is a concealed thought, the thought can also be a compound of smaller thoughts. Yet they shouldn't be convoluted or smooched together too tightly they're nigh impossible to untangle?
With M-dashes, this would look like this:
— A lengthy line of dialogue, — character A says. Character B adds: "A line that could still be its own paragraph but now fits as it is clearly marked as an addendum BEFORE the line begins; could be possible with the previous example but is rarely, if ever, structured this way". [Things became their own paragraph.] — Line. — Still unclear who said that but at least it is its own thing now.
And this is one of two cases when "" aren't used for thoughts and inner dialogues; another one is when your entire dialogue is back and forth and can be presented as its own paragraph.
It also makes the text read extremely fast because you take in the sentence structure first and then populate it with words and senses.
I'm angry at this, evidently. A lot of thought goes into where it should not belong—ttp it feels like a honest downgrade from Russiаn. The punctuation should be the rail regulating of reading, not a labyrinth or a some kind of twister game.
#днявочка#eng tag#after throwing so big of a rock at english's lawn i will throw an equally big rock at russiаn: russiаn texts are unreadable ->#-> because people constantly mess up serious grammar and generally have a very scarce idea what connotation even entails#russiаn's rigid grammar is perfect for writing. its dictionary however is full of colours and colour theory is excessively hard to master#those who try are fine by me. but the majority of russiаn writers can't see a difference between green and red#they dont even try rather. and it's hard to tell if they know the language at all. because they mess up tenses(?) as well#when writing in russiаn you need to keep in mind the verbs and participles must stay in the same tense—or times#it's different with english because in english you need to change the verb forms only and in russiаn you change words' endings and suffixes#people tend to forget that and the results are more than have instead of had or wrong word form used#as in in english you'd have two tenses clashing you with different time. in russiаn you will have a time bog#next stop: participles can be “attached” to nouns or verbs. hence they're divided into two groups by what they can be attached to.#and they change accordingly to their “parent word”'s grammar. a tad bit tedious. but doable and easy to remember#well after you've done few tables of writing the same sentence in different cases and in different times#messing THAT up is very easy lots of people dont catch when they're tired im guilty of it but we dont allows funsies to appear#funsies as in. in russiаn it's ridiculously easy to animate the inanimate bc of it and give train stations hats that they can lose to winds#anyway. im linguistically angy
It would be hilarious if villains loved Nightwing and were terrified of Officer Dick Grayson.
Dick Grayson- who is used to open spaces and adrenaline- being stuck in a boring bleak office, surviving on shots of coffee and red bull with caffeine that would make Tim concerned.
The thugs soon realised that unlike most of the other cops - Dick was from Gotham.
No one fucks with Gothamites.
Villain *shooting at Dick with machine guns*
Dick *appearing from the shadows behind him*: Boo.
Villain: THIS IS A FIVE STOREY BUILDING HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET HERE
Or
Thief *throwing a counting down bomb at Dick*
Dick: *catching and tossing the bomb at a safe distance before turning round and shooting it so it explodes mid air while running after thief*
Thief: .. what the actual fuck
Dick: Gee look at all that time you had! Shame you threw it away :D
Thief:
Dick: I’m from Gotham
Thief *realising they fucked up* : Please don’t steal my bones
OR
Shooter: *sets elaborate booby traps throughout the houses in an active hostage situation*
Dick *using his training as robin and inhuman flexibility to surpass them with ease*: Ah been a while since I got to have a nice stretch thank you.
Shooter:
Dick:
Shooter:
Dick: .. Hi :)
Shooter: Are you Satan?
AND
In interrogation room
Murderer: I think I’ll take your eyes and add them to my collection
Dick *running on spite and caffeine that could give Superman a sugar rush* : Funny.. I was going to say the same thing to you
Murderer: .. what
Dick: I wouldn’t take your eyes though.. they look like the inspiration behind the whole Medusa’s “look at it and you turn to stone” thing-
Murderer: Hey! Take that back before I gut you
Dick *smile stretching wider without blinking* : oh? Or what? I know everything about you. Who says I can’t kill you and walk out with everyone being none the wiser? I know how to kill someone too..you aren’t special.
Murderer:
Murderer: I’m scared for my safety.
Because the thing is, Nightwing is who Dick really is. It’s who he can be free as, be himself as without red tapes and regulations. Where he can give as good as he gets, and he’s kind and empathetic. He gets to help the downtrodden and goes easy on most of them if they give up right away, not to mention the fact that he never causes permanent damage.
But officer Dick Grayson is a different story. He runs on sleepless nights and no self preservation. Seeing an officer with an uncanny skill set they’re scarily good at, not to mention the cheery attitude he always has scares the shit out of criminals. Cuz no way in hell is a smiling Gothamite not a deranged one. He chases crimes like a bloodhound, and isn’t afraid to make good on threats he makes to ensure they never hurt anyone again.
Bonus if the batfam doesn’t know about this.
Red hood: Shit I can’t believe we ended up in Bludhaven
Red Robin *tying up the corrupt politican* : Since this is a sensitive case, we need someone we can trust to make sure it is seen through.
Red hood: .. So we paying a visit to Officer Grayson?
Politician *screeching* : NO NO NO NO! PLEASE NOT HIM!! JUST KILL ME INSTEAD AND TAKE ALL MY MONEY I CANT DEAL WITH HIM!
Red hood: .. is he fucking serious?
Henchmen: Sir he is. And we agree. Please take our bones and kill us but don’t take us to Officer Grayson.
Red Robin: Wait what did he do?
Henchman 1: He asked boss if the hat was sentient.. and said that if it was would it make that hat the top and boss the bottom.
Henchman 2: Last time we met I tried to shoot him but suddenly my gun was blank and he raised his hand and let the ammo drop
Red Hood: Well even I could do that-
Henchman 2: They were my bullets. I had selected the colour personally.
Red robin *growing concerned*
Henchman 3: He sang a lullaby to a child when we were holding the station hostage, and replaced the people with my family members. He even sang their social security numbers!
Henchman 4: He’s the most dangerous of them all. I ain’t shitting ya when I say he’s as scary as the bat from Gotham.
*all nodding in agreement*
Red hood:
Red Robin:
Red hood: Nah that doesn’t sound like Dick
Red Robin: Agreed. Let’s go there Hood.
*villains’ sobbing intensifies*
DevOps Classes and Training in Ahmedabad: Advanced IT Solutions in 2025
So, DevOps is the process that aids in the Relationship between Software Development and IT Service Management. The technologies associated with automation and cloud computing are evolving rapidly. Therefore, people who operate in these sectors must adapt. Docker is the most popular container platform that helps learners build applications that can be deployed and run with no problems in different environments.
Essential Tools and Technologies in DevOps
The DevOps practices aim to combine infrastructure, code, and feedback. Additionally, there is more emphasis on beneficial aspects like speed and delivery of software, interaction, and extent of deployment success. In order to practice continuous integration/automation and infrastructure as code, people have to go through programs.
These are critical in order to avoid unnecessary faults, improve the relations between the customers and cross-functional teams and improve the delivery of software. Among the important constituents of these programs is Docker Training in Ahmedabad. Based on the given approach of containerisation, Docker allows easy deployment of apps across platforms without having to build distinct environments.
Beginner-Friendly DevOps Courses
For new learners, the informational courses provide an orientation on the various frameworks of DevOps. Learners are introduced to technologies which are at the core of automation. The software industry is undergoing a revolution thanks to this course, which really narrows the gap in the supply of skilled professionals required by the labour market. Currently, there’s a very strong tendency towards developers who are able to cover the whole application lifecycle from development to when the program is put into use.
DevOps is already employed in over 60% of businesses. Healthcare, finance, manufacturing industries, and more are now making use of the advantages it brings. Professionals who possess knowledge of the DevOps tools and processes can drive efficiency, innovation, and faster results. In India, DevOps engineers have enormous prospects as they can earn up to ₹21 LPA, which is stunningly attractive on a world scale.
Certification and Career Advancement in DevOps
DevOps Classes and Training in Ahmedabad also offer good opportunities for candidates who want a certificate to prove their true worth. According to statistics, these types of certificates are in great demand all over the world, and they are also beneficial in advancing the careers of professionals such as DevOps Engineers, Cloud Managers, and Automation Specialists. Businesses value such certified experts because they help to optimise processes, manage cloud infrastructure effectively, and promote teamwork.
At the same time, the design of these programs allows working students to manage their learning in the context of work. So, after finishing those courses, students acquire practical experience and skills that significantly improve project workflows and team efficiency. Highsky IT Solutions offers computer training that prepares individuals to remain relevant in the IT market. Their programs integrate theory with on-the-job training, preparing learners to lead DevOps projects effectively as professionals. Therefore, for those who are seeking a career change, DevOps Classes and Training in Ahmedabad offer a pathway to career growth. Adding Docker Training in Ahmedabad equips learners with vital skills to drive change and deliver reliable outcomes.
Dead on Main short part 2
This was not supposed to be this long. It just kept getting longer, just kept going. I found a cut-off point eventually, but there may actually be a part 3 to what was supposed to be a very short little piece. Whoops. (part 1)
Jason never had the time to be concerned about his words when he was young. Neither did anyone else around him. His dad couldn’t be bothered with anything to do with him, and Jason would have been surprised if Willis actually knew what his words were. His mother was more confused by them then anything else, and even then that was only in her rarer sober moments.
Then Jason moved in with Bruce. Dick wasn’t around much when he lived in the Manor. He had just started tolerating him when Jason had died. Dick probably knew what the words were, but they had never discussed it with each other, and Jason couldn’t begin to guess what his opinion was on them back then.
Bruce used to entertain his fantasies of trying to think up different scenarios his words could be said in, both of them trying to make the funniest good outcome. It became a game they played when bored on stakeouts, obviously keeping the contents of the words private while playing. To be fair, there were a lot of good and funny scenarios. But they lived in Gotham, and Jason had experienced enough of the world, even at that young age, that he understood the likeliness of a bad scenario.
And then he died. And he didn’t think about his words for a very long time. Too busy training and plotting. Busy coming back to Gotham, enacting his plans and building a criminal empire. He barely remembered them himself until he was back in Gotham, operating as the Red Hood, with a trail of bodies behind him.
Assassin training, heads in a duffel bag, counts of arson, and leader of a gang, Jason was not the same kid he used to be. There were few scenarios in which his words could be said that he couldn’t come to understand. And he was at a point in his life where he could find room for a soulmate again. He was settled, secure as the anti-hero of Crime Alley, tenuous agreement with the Bats and all. He had even been by the Manor to have tea with Alfred.
Arkham breakouts were old hat to everyone in Gotham. Citizens bunkering down, and Bats readying themselves to round up whoever made it out this time. However, this was the first Arkham breakout since his plan with Bruce and the Joker failed. The first since his agreement with the Bats to use non-lethal means. When Jason heard that it was the Joker that had broken out, he planned to kill him, truce be damned.
The Bats could probably deduce that, it was too soon into the truce for any real change to have been made. And this was the Joker. So now it was a race to see who could get to him first.
Luckily (in this instance), Jason’s base is much closer to Arkham than the Bats. So while they are all stuck driving in from the better parts of town, Jason is already chasing the Joker down alleys.
Joker is laughing, practically skipping away as if this is a game, and Jason almost loses him as he turns a corner he didn’t see. Jason can hear the Joker laughing, starting to speak. Probably to taunt him again. Then the sound cuts off with a choke and a thud.
Jason turns the corner to see Joker laid out flat, nose bleeding and neck at a funny ankle. A choked breath escapes him, and he looks around to see a man leaning against the alley wall.
The man’s hands are shaking, breaths choppy, and there's a bit of blood on his right hand.
Jason takes a deep breath, which causes the man to look at him out of the corner of his eye. Jason takes in the scene again. And then again, hardly daring to hope even with the evidence in front of him.
“Is he dead?” Jason asks softly. The man turns to face him, and Jason takes a glove off and slowly, hesitantly, checks the Joker’s pulse.
“Look, in my defense…” The man trails off, looking to the heavens for a moment. “I really fucking hate clowns.”
Jason, hope fully settled in as the Joker remains still and lifeless on the ground, pulse non-existent against his fingertips, almost laughs. Then his brain does a record scratch. Rewind. Replays the words ‘Look, in my defense’ over again, head shooting up to look at the man who just killed the Joker.
Jason takes his other glove off, standing. He takes a step towards the man, pushing up his sleeve. The man seems nervous at his advance, watching him warily until Jason uncovers the words on his arm. The cover falls to the ground behind him as he takes another step forward.
The man’s eyes light up in realization, and he also rushes to push up his sleeve. One more step forward and they are right in front of each other. Arms held up, brushing together as they show each other their marks.
Left forearms pressed together in the space in front of them, one reading ‘Is he dead?’ and the other “Look, in my defense.’.
The man laughs and Jason takes in the sound of it, the happiness in his eyes as he looks up at him. Jason slowly reaches up to remove his helmet, domino still on underneath it, and lets it fall to the alley floor as well.
“You’re amazing.” Jason breaths out, hand reaching up to cup the stranger’s, his soulmate’s cheek. “You have no idea what you’ve just done for me.”
“Little bit of manslaughter.” He laughs. “Didn’t think it would be received this well.”
Jason smiles in response. “I would worship you for this, if you’d let me. I will never stop thanking you.”
“Oh.” The man gasps, breath hitching. Jason, one hand still on his cheek, thumb stroking underneath his eye, places his other hand on the man’s waist and backs him up to the alley wall. Deliberately slowly, watching the man as he takes a deep breath, licks his lips, and lets himself be moved.
“Tell me your name and I’ll start right now.” Jason whispers.
“Danny.” The word is breathy and low, only heard due to Jason’s close proximity.
“Danny.” Jason repeats his name like an anthem and a prayer. Prepared to give his life for this man already. And then kisses him, pressing his lips to his softly, reverently. Wanting to hold this moment forever.
